Hi, I'm Amanda and these are from 2014 and late late 2023 (no good pictures from this year yet rip)
She aged but she had a GLOW UP hey yooo I've been in the phandom since 2014 and created this blog in 2015, so I'm a bit of an oldie by now (tbf I was older than average when I joined lmao) In 2014 I had no self confidence, no selfie skills and I kinda hated looking at myself and now I feel like I've improved in all of the above (confidence issues aren't solved though) but yeah I miss the meetups from yesteryear so thank you @energeticwarrior for the idea!

do you have any thoughts on the reveal that dnp did in fact plan the tour from before the comeback of the gaming channel?
hi anon sorry it took me 15 years to respond to this, i wanted to go back and see what I said about this topic two months ago and also see exactly what d&p said before I replied and I just never got around to it til now lol 😭 anyway. so basically what I took issue with before was the idea/theory that d&p had been actively planning the tour since before the dapg revival and brought back the gaming channel just to get ppl interested again/brought it back for the only purpose of gauging interest for a tour. which, based on what they said during the q&a, I don't think is what happened. I'm not gonna type out a word for word transcript of what they said but basically this is the gist of it:
q: when did you decide to do the tour p: a long time ago [...] I think it was pre-gaming channel comeback *gasps from audience which like LMAO me too girl me too* d: no no no that's what you said, and then I said 'people might not care let's bring back the gaming channel and then see how enthusiastic people are'
(if you want to watch for yourself it's here timestamp is linked)
for me I'm not mad at this because I don't think it's irreconcilable with what dan and phil have been saying about the gaming channel comeback/why they chose to go on tour. I don't feel like I've been lied to which would've been my issue had they been actively planning this specific tour since before the gaming channel comeback. the way I took what they said is basically like: phil said he wanted to tour again, dan said let's not put the cart before the horse, they brought back the gaming channel, they saw people still care about them, they started to plan the tour
this, in my personal opinion, still lines up with what they have said about phil convincing dan to return to joint branding ("the gaming channel"), and them choosing to go on tour to celebrate their fans and what they have created. yes we now know part of the reason for them to bring the channel back was to see if ppl still cared about them, but it wasn't brought back for the sole purpose of seeing if people wanted to come to The Terrible Influence Tour That Had Already Been Planned In Its Entirety, you know? we didn't know the full story before but that's to be expected
so long story short, am I a little surprised at the order in which things happened? yeah sure. but I don't think everything they've said about why they brought the channel back and why/when they chose to go on tour was a lie, so I have no issue with the fact that phil said he wanted to go on tour a year and a half ago and then dan said "dude slow down" LOL hopefully that makes sense 😭 basically to me there is a big distinction between wanting to go on tour, planning to go on tour, and choosing to do and planning the tour itself

Happy 10th anniversary to my beloved Free! fandom. When I was struck down by a fever in late 2017 and decided to watch the anime, I had no idea the ways the fandom would influence me. So since @rinharumemories is a memory event, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to finally write a love letter to the fandom! 💙❤️
(Adapted from this twitter thread!)
After my fever-inspired crash-course, Free! fell out of my head for a while, but Rin never did. The following year, I watched a cosplay tutorial for him on YouTube and decided to watch Take Your Marks. I saw The Bench Scene. Suddenly I had an OTP!
My first-ever rinharu friend, Rubi, encouraged me to write fic and kindly beta read for me! I was neck-deep in anxiety at the time because of another fandom and Free! was refreshing. My anxiety was so bad that she actually screened the comments on that first fic to make sure I could read them without spiraling.
I found more shippers & joined the Sakura Pool discord, where I would meet my dear SweetHeaven! Su & the other friends I made there helped shape @ficwip's early days as a hashtag game, and (along w/friends from SPN & VLD) were some of our discord's initial members.
When I was designing the ficwip discord, Aenya was kind enough to share tips for role-based channel permissions & let me pick her brain about modding a year-round space! Her advice was invaluable, an absolute lifesaver. 🙏🙏🙏
Around this time, through the original #ficwip game on Twitter, I met fellow writer @matsuoka-lin and we got to be friends. (During the pandemic, Lin would join the ficwip server and we would recognize our Aquarius bond ♒)
Late into 2018, I was still writing rinharu fic, and I also participated in Inktober, with a good number of the images being rinharu themed. It had been years since I’d drawn, but those two brought it out of me. Sadly, that December, the VLD finale hit during my very first @rinharuweek and launched me back into the VLD fandom for a couple of years. I never finished my RHW '18 entry. But I never forgot Free! or rinharu, and definitely not Rin, who was my profile pic more often than not.
Flash forward to 2021. Su won a fic giveaway & prompted me to write a rinharu amnesia fic. I worked on it across 11 months. That awoke my muses, and I ended up writing rinharu hanahaki for @ficwip's 5k!
Last August, I was days away from announcing a fandom-wide SPN event when I recalled my dream of a rinharu bang and mentioned it in passing to Lin. We talked for eight hours straight. By the end of the conversation, @thenightpool had been born.
We started TNP with the humble goal of five participants in our first event, a mermaid-themed fic & art fest. We had months to prepare! Then something happened with FS2 and we scrambled to launch a Halloween fest that we pulled off thanks to incredible contributors. They formed the foundation of the TNP discord, which is set up a lot like ficwip’s to be a year-round little creative community. We’ll actually be launching our own version of fw’s writing retreat weekends later this month!
The merfest, which got renamed Unleashed Blue, blew past our expectations — as did Sakurathon, a dormant event that we revived for a weekend in April. UB ended up with 52 entries; we’d hoped for maybe 15. Sakurathon was such a success that we rescheduled it immediately. Right now, we have a prompt meme running, and have events scheduled through 2024! 😅
In addition to @thenightpool, we’ve formed @iwatobievents to promote events across the Free! fandom. And we’re running events there too, for Nagisa and Soumako. Because what is sleep!!
So the TL;DR is that the rinharu fandom helped give @ficwip life, has inspired me as a writer and artist, led me to my best and dearest friends, and will make a big dream come true later this year: I’ll finally be running a rinharu bang! 💙❤️
And I still have a Rin Matsuoka icon.
(eta: I did, up until the day I posted this. It may temporarily be changed to another favorite character!)

BE THE ONE  ;;  someone she hurt ??  a friend or a lover , maybe she ran because feelings got too heavy too fast or maybe her busy scendule ultimately caused her to leave them behind ?? either way , this ode is for them , saying she’s wrong , and how she wishes to have them back and for them to give her another chance .

BLOW YOUR MIND  ;;  someone she hates , someone that hates her , a friend a foe or a lover or maybe both ??  either way , they fight like cats and dogs bc they’re polar opposites and probably hate everything about each other ... especially the fact they’re insanely attracted to each other .
LOST IN YOUR LIGHT   ;;  a friend she likes . a lil will they won’t they that i love bc !!!  ahhh .  anyway this song is about how she feels about them :)) they probably don’t have a clue the song’s about them or maybe they assume u choose !
NEW RULES   ;;  the classic toxic ex trope .  someone she still has a hard time shaking off bc she still cares about them so whenever they keep on knocking at her door in the middle of the night , despite her “ new rules “  to keep him away , she can’t help herself .
IDGAF  ;;  an ex lover who broke her heart , so she wrote a song about him hehehehe .
DON’T START NOW  ;;  yet another ex - lover song that turned out to be a massive bop hehehe .
PHYSICAL  ;;  something that started out as purely physical ... a fwb of a sort , but it’s ELECTRIC , unexplainable , and despite them not being exclusive , it’s almost an unwritten thing that they care and how they have each other’s backs .
LEVITATING  ;;  maybe someone she met on a vacation somewhere , they had one of the most amazing flings but it’s never been anything serious , but it still made an impression on her despite how short it was , so she wrote him a song too :)

As 2020 is nearing, it’s time to see what 2019 has brought us when it comes to gay representation in tv shows and movies. Below ‘read more’, there’s a whole list of tv shows/ships/movies (with pictures and basic description) which include/are about gay (used as an umbrella term) men and couples (so basically have gay storylines and at least one gay person is a main character of the show/movie).
Since I’m a gay man, I keep up mostly with mlm, if I included wlw as well, I don’t think the list would be complete with my lack of knowledge, so sorry about that. I’m pretty sure there are more competent people who can do that instead of me.
Total Count of TV Shows in the list: 65 Total Count of Movies in the list: 27
 Anyways, here we go.
TV SHOWS
TV SHOWS WITH TITULAR/CENTRAL GAY CHARACTERS/SHIPS
The Other Two: the funniest most-relatable show centered around three siblings – one of them is gay (left). A must-watch for sure. He’s pretty much the hugest part of the show, there are some love storyline (...and they were roomates), some self-loving moments and iconic lines. Just watch it, you won’t regret it.
Tumblr media
Sex Education: show about two best friends, one of them (right) is gay. His name is Eric and he gets involved with his enemy Adam (left). Amazing show.
Tumblr media
Special: show about a gay man Ryan (right) with mild cerebral palsy, who wants to live his life as an independent person to the fullest. Easy and short show to watch.
Tumblr media
Druck (German SKAM Remake): if you don’t know SKAM, it’s pretty much a show where each season is devoted to one character. Third season of German SKAM aired this year and it was revolved around a gay guy (left). For the first time in SKAM history, the main character’s love interest is a trans guy (right).
Tumblr media
Skam France (French SKAM Remake): the French version of SKAM had a gay season this year as well.
Tumblr media
WTFock (Belgian SKAM Remake): Belgium has a season focused on the main gay character this year as well.
Tumblr media
El corazón nunca se equivoca: I’m pretty sure you’ve heard of Aristemo from ‘Mi marido tiene más familia’. Well, they’d already aired the first season of the new spin-off centered around their lives in college (I think).
Tumblr media
Merlí: Sapere Aude: Bruno (left) and Pol (right) fans, it’s time to make some noise. Brunol is coming back because Pol is getting a spin-off which will be taking place in university. Bruno will be in it as well. First episode airs on 5th of December this year.
Tumblr media
Pose: second season of Ryan Murphy’s popular show with main transgender and gay characters has aired this year.
Tumblr media
The Politician: another show from Ryan Murphy was created. The main protagonist of the show (right) is played by Ben Platt and he’s gay. The show contains many LGBT+ main characters.
Tumblr media
Tales of the City: the revival of the Tales of the City sequence of miniseries aired this year. The show includes many LGBT+ storylines.
Tumblr media
The L Word: Generation Q: the revival of The L Word show will air on 8th of December this year. The show is mainly about lesbians, but based on trailer, there will be a gay couple included as well.
Tumblr media
Years and Years: very futuristic show with a political message. Includes both mlm and wlw as main characters.
Tumblr media
The Red Line: the plot of this show involves a white cop in Chicago who mistakenly shoots and kills a black doctor named Harrison. Harrison had a husband (left) and daughter (right). The show deals with the consequences of the event.
Tumblr media
Now Apocalypse: all I’m gonna say is that Beck from Victorious got to make out with Scott from Teen Wolf, Matty from Awkward and Jake from Glee. The show was renewed for second season and later this statement was taken back and it got cancelled – which I guess says enough about the show.
Tumblr media
This Close: the show is about two best friends who are deaf. One of them (left) is gay and has a storyline and spicy scenes with the guy on the right and some other guys as well.
Tumblr media
Schitt’s Creek: David (right) and Patrick (left) aka the cutest softest couple of all time. The last season of the show will air next air. Watch the show if you wanna laugh and watch the healthiest gay couple on tv. They also got engaged this year, which was beautiful.
Tumblr media
NEW TV SHOWS (1 SEASON) WITH MAIN GAY CHARACTERS/SHIPS
Daybreak: both main characters and basically on different sides of the battles. Who wouldn’t want to watch enemies being in love Romeo & Juliet style.
Tumblr media
El Juego de las Llaves (The Game of Keys): very interesting and fun show to follow, the one on the right is the main character. He’s closeted, has a girlfriend and gradually realizes there’s something else out there. Nice kissing scenes, plus one very spicy scene. Doesn’t hurt that the guy on the left he will be involved with looks like a dollar store Chris Evans if you squint hard enough.
Tumblr media
Five Bedrooms: 5 strangers moves in. The guy in the middle is gay. His mom is a very traditional Indian woman who just wants grandchildren. The whole show is heart-warming and sad at times. The guy gets fair share of screentime and some love interests including a cop from the neighbourhood.
Tumblr media
Made In Heaven: Indian show that follows the lives of Tara and Karan (left), two wedding planners in Delhi running an agency named Made in Heaven. Karan is gay. Very progressive show with spicy gay scenes.
Tumblr media
What/If: haven’t seen the show yet but friends said these two have a nice storyline in the show. Threesome included.
Tumblr media
Bonding: show about two best friends Pete (left) and Tiff (right). Pete is gay. They basically... do freaky shit for work... umm. Just watch trailer or something.
Tumblr media
Osmosis: I have no idea what the show is about but the guy on the left is set to betrying to find a soulmate or something. I think I remember seeing some spicy scenes.
Tumblr media
Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists: basically some gay romance with the guy on the right and someone else. The one on the left dies the first episode so I did not even bother after that. But you can be the judge of it.
Tumblr media
Doom Patrol: Larry (left) is a superhero, kinda. There’s something haunting his past, though. Something that involves being gay.
Tumblr media
The Umbrella Academy: Klaus (left) my favorite character. He’s kind of a hero along with his other siblings. There’s a deep gay storyling along the way.
Tumblr media
Weird City: anyways... all I’m gonna say is that Dylan O’Brien played a gay for one episode in a show. Wish there wasn’t this huge ugly age difference.
Tumblr media
Roswell, New Mexico: cowboys, aliens, bisexuality, homosexuality and all that. Didn’t really see the show but there’s a lot of content with these two.
Tumblr media
Good Trouble: never saw the sow but the guy on the picture is a main bisexual characters. There are some mlm scenes.
Tumblr media
The Society: Grizz (right) and Sam (left) literally the highlight of the show. Just watch it, it is worth to see it for both of them. Sam is also deaf. The show is basically about a bunch of teenagers getting stuck in a town with no one else in or around.
Tumblr media
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series: The High School Musical tv show has just started airing on Disney+. Carlos (left) is confirmed to be gay and to be getting a nice development this season which will probably involve Seb (right) as well.
Tumblr media
The Heights: Australian tv show. Sully (left) is gay. Got a thing for Ash (right) at the start. Then things were messy. Then they suddenly kissed. And the things are messy again.
Tumblr media
El Club (The Club): very interesting show. The gave these two really (like REALLY) spicy scenes. Some romantic stuff. But there’s really not much depth in my option. Check and see.
Tumblr media
Volevo fare la rockstar: didn’t see it but it’s an Italian show and there’s a romantic storyline between these two.
Tumblr media
No Good Nick: Jeremy (right) came out this year on this sitcom. Nice and very weid sitcom. Unfortunately it was cancelled, but the way they handled his gay storyline was rather nice.
Tumblr media
World on Fire: follows lives of ordinary people from Britain, Poland, France, Germany and the USA during World War II. Two of them are gay. And yeah one of those two is Will from sense8.
Tumblr media
TV SHOWS (1 SEASON+) WITH MAIN GAY CHARACTERS/SHIPS
Andi Mack: the show that made history. Andi Mack is a Disney Channel show and for the first time in Disney Channel history, Cyrus (right) came out using the word ‘gay’ and made it official with the recurring character TJ (left) this year. The two-season slow-burn was really worth it.
Tumblr media
Shadowhunters: Malec got married this year. Yay.
Tumblr media
Grey’s Anatomy: Levi and Nico still going strong.
Tumblr media
La Casa de las Flores (The House of Flowers): despite the first season making it seem like it was the end for Diego and Julián, that’s not the case. In season 2, they’re stronger than ever, the scenes are spicier than ever and the show is gayer than ever.
Tumblr media
Baby: first season was mostly focused on Fabio (face on right) realizing he’s gay. The second season has shockingly showed us that Brando (face on left) is gay as well. Very toxic ship so if you enjoy Gallavich this is probably for you.
Tumblr media
Élite: Omar and Ander continuing their journey.
Tumblr media
Shameless: Ian (up) and Mickey (down) came back to Shameless season 10 as main characters. About time.
Tumblr media
Station 19: new love interest (left, a deaf character portrayed by a deaf actor) was introduced for Travis (right) in the season 2 finale. Let’s see what happens in season 3, which airs in 2020.
Tumblr media
Ackley Bridge: they pretty much baited us with Cory (left) and Naveed (right) this season. They stayed just friends, but Naveed found a love interest, so that’s nice.
Tumblr media
Find Me In Paris: Never saw the show, but Jeff (on the picture) is gay and his love interest Isaac gets introduced in second season that aired this year.
Tumblr media
13 Reasons Why: Tony and Caleb going strong. It was also revealed that Monty (right) is a closeted gay and had a storyline with Winston (left). There’s probably more to come with them in next season.
Tumblr media
Insatiable: unfortunately they didn’t serve much Bob (right) & Bob this year. But they introduced detective Rudy (left) and there were some scenes and twists and turns. Whatever.
Tumblr media
Riverdale: I don’t care. Kevin (left) is still there. There are some gay charcters based on wiki, but yeah. Crumbs, I bet. Whatever.
Tumblr media
Charité: second season (which has the two main gay characters) takes place in Berlin in 1943. You don’t need to watch the first season at all, to understand the second one with them, it’s basically a stand-alone.
Tumblr media
Animal Kingdom: Deran and Adrian’s story coming to an end?
Tumblr media
The Magicians: Well, they killed off the central bi character Quentin (on the picture), so fuck them.
Tumblr media
How to Get Away With Murder: Connor (left) and Oliver (right) still there.
Tumblr media
Dear White People: haven’t seen it, but Lionel (on the picture) is still there and he’s gay.
Tumblr media
Zoe Valentine: there’s this web series and these two have a storyline in second season that aired this year.
Tumblr media
SOAP OPERAS AND TELENOVELAS
Sturm der Liebe: Boris (left) and Tobias (right) are married and lived happily ever after. Really cute and sometimes dramatic storyline overall. Check it out.
Tumblr media
Malhação: Vidas Brasileiras: Santiago (left) and Michael (right) had a gay storyline but the show ended this year.
Tumblr media
Malhação: Toda Forma de Amar: Guga (right) and Serginho (left) have a gay storyline in the show.
Tumblr media
Eastenders: Ben (left) and Callum’s (right) storyline has begun this year.
Tumblr media
Neighbours: David (right) and Aaron (left) aka husbands still in the soap.
Tumblr media
REALITY SHOWS
Queer Eye: five gay guys helping others. Season 3, 4 and a special have aired this year.
Tumblr media
Are You the One?: for the first time in the show’s history, season 8 of this dating reality show had an all-sexually fluid cast this year. Which means mlm and wlw and anything else. Really fun show.
Tumblr media
MOVIES
Benjamin: don’t even remember what the movie was about but I rec because it was cute and I mean hello Merlin.
Tumblr media
Boy Erased: homosexuality and religion. Has a Troye Sivan in it. Very decent movie.
Tumblr media
And Then We Danced: my favorite gay movie of this year. All the things they had to do to be able to film this in homophobic Georgia (the country)... just wow. It’s a must-watch.
Tumblr media
Who Would You Take to a Deserted Island?: didn’t know what to expect from this movie. It is based on a play and it shows. Watch and be the judge of it. The acting was really highlight of the movie.
Tumblr media
This Is Not Berlin: hasn’t seen it yet since it was just officially released. But it is included in an LGBT+ section so... hopefully they didn’ lie.
Tumblr media
Rocketman: movie about Elton John with Taron Egerton and Richard Madden... I mean, phew.
Tumblr media
Un Rubio (The Blonde One): gonna watch this, apparently it’s amazing based on what some of my mutuals have said.
Tumblr media
The Death and Life of John F. Donovan: Jon Snow being gay and kissing Chris Zylka. Made by Xavier Dolan. A literal tripple threat. Genuinely enjoyed the movie and the soundtrack.
Tumblr media
Ranchlands: haven’t seen this but my friend said it’s amazing.
Tumblr media
Steam Room Stories: this movie was something... Eating Out levels of ‘I-’ but without all the sex. I guess watch this if you are bored.
Tumblr media
Posledice (Consequences): very spicy and intriguing movie. Slovenia snapped with this one.
Tumblr media
Papi Chulo: didn’t like this movie and the concept of it but... you can check out and see for yourself.
Tumblr media
Dolor y gloria (Pain and Glory): Antonio Banderas kissing a man. Hopefully it really is a gay-related movie because I haven’t seen it yet.
Tumblr media
Die Stropers (The Harvesters): brilliant cinematography but I expected much more from the movie.
Tumblr media
Giant Little Ones: what happens when you’re into your best friend’s sister but the best friend gives you a BJ. Well... watch and see.
Tumblr media
Kanarie (Canary): a war musical about a small town boy who gets chosen to serve his compulsory two year military training in the South African Defence Force Choir and Concert. Loved the involvement of the Boy George music, aesthetic and story. One of my favorites this year.
Tumblr media
Luciérnagas (Fireflies): haven’t seen it yet but the description says that the main gay character (right) “flees from persecution in Iran and ends up living in the tropical town of Veracruz.”
Tumblr media
El Angel: haven’t seen it but apparently there are some implications it was lowkey gay... so yeah.
Tumblr media
Dear Ex: from wiki “San Lian was devastated when she discovered her late ex-husband left his insurance payout to his male partner Ah Jie. She decided to bring her son to fight for their rights, but her son instead chose to stand on the other person's side.” Will watch this soon, sounds interesting.
Tumblr media
Sauvage: one of the best gay movies this year. Don’t know how to describe it so let me copy paste the description “ Léo is a sex worker who uses drugs whilst longing for love.”
Tumblr media
Sócrates: haven’t seen it yet as it was just released.
Tumblr media
Marilyn: story about a farm worker who discovers his sexuality in a hostile environment. Didn’t see it since someone has told me there are some scenes that are really HARD to stomach and I ain’t about that life.
Tumblr media
Les Crevettes pailletées (The Shiny Shrimps): the movie is about an Olympic swimming champion who makes a homophobic comment in a television interview, and is disciplined by the national swim team with the responsibility of coaching a gay water polo team who aspire to compete in the Gay Games. Sounds and looks like an amazing comedy and can’t wait to watch it when I will be able to.
Tumblr media
Fin de siglo (End of the Century): it’s not out yet as far as I know, but it’s about two men who meet in Barcelona and realize they have met already 20 years ago.
Tumblr media
Matthias et Maxime: another excellence by Xavier Dolan. Story about life-long friends who question their sexual identities after they kiss. Looks amazing and I can’t wait for it to get released finally.
Tumblr media
The Goldfinch: not a gay movie, but I’ve seen many people considering it as LGBT+ cinema because of the book and you know what, they kissed after all so you can perceive it beyond friendship if you want. If not, then just skip it. I feel like it is worth mentioning it tho.
Tumblr media
Mapplethorpe: movie is about the life of photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. Didn’t see it but Doctor Who plays him so there’s that.
Tumblr media
UPCOMING
TV SHOWS
9-1-1: Lone Star: The spin-off of a popular show 9-1-1 by Ryan Murphy is premiering 19th of January 2020. It’s confirmed that the main character TK (a firefighter, left) will be romantically involved with the main character Carlos (a police officer, right). The show will also have a main trans man.
Tumblr media
Love, Simon: The Series: A Disney+ Love, Simon spin-off is on its way and will premiere in 2020. The series will follow Victor (right) and his coming-out story at the same high school where Love, Simon took place. Didn’t find a photo with his love interest. The guy on the left will most likely be his enemy.

Chapter 1
Chapter 2
——————————————-
“ I can’t believe you told him that Kia!” Asia yelled at her friend that was in her chair.
Kia just started to sobbed as Asia was pressing her hair out.
“ Now stop all that damn crying Kia. It is your fault also.” Asia said as tilted Kia head to the side.
“ I told you years ago that your daddy is not helping you love, but he is hurting you in the worst way possible.” Asia sighed as she turned the chair so Kia would be facing her.
Asia and Kia been best friends since childhood. Asia was different than Kia. Kia had a life full of wealth and a comfortable life. While Asia was raise in the deepest part of the projects. However, Asia was smart and was very passionate about school. That she got into the private school that usually only people with money, money get into.
Asia got a scholarship there due to her high I.Q. With there only being two black people, Kia and Asia, they naturally became best friends. However, of course, Ernest did not like her. Asia showed Kia the world from out of her bubble of wealth and good living. To showing her to have a backbone and standing up for herself.
Asia knew that Ernest was very controlling of his daughter and Kia listen.
“ Asia, I have to take care of him. That is what my mother said before she died! Before I watched her died Asia. She died!” Kia shouted while in hysterical tears looking at her friend.
The bloody sound of tears that was made of so much hurt went through Asia’s hair salon suite.
Asia looked at her friend and turn the chair back around. When Kia get like this, she really didn’t want nobody to talk to her.
Asia went back to her friend’s hair holding back the tears in her eyes. Asia knew her friend was hurting not only because of present decisions she need to make, but the past decisions she didn’t make.
As Kia, her brothers, and father got to the hospital after the accident. They went back there one at a time. When Kia went back there.
She was horrified.
Her mother’s face look ible. From her whole face swelled up due to the airbag hitting her badly. To the many cuts all over her face. With Kia eyes going straight to her eyes.
The beautiful brown eyes.
Those eyes were red from one her blood vessels that pop.
The one thing that the doctors didn’t look at that led to her death.
As Kia held her mother’s hand, Kia’s mother eyes turn to the person.
Kia mother saw her daughter, whom was 13, scared at the figure she was looking at.
“ Baby, it’s okay,” Kia’s mother croak, “ I am okay.” Kia’s mother coughed after finishing her sentence.
Kia looked at her mother’s eyes.
They wasn’t her mother’s.
“ Your eyes momma. They didn’t check your eyes. Something is wrong with your eyes!” Kia cried as she was letting go of her mother’s hand to go to the nurse’s station.
However, her mother caught her arm just in time.
Kia’s mother didn’t want her to get the doctor. She was ready to die.
Kia turned her head and looked at her mother.
Her eyes were not looking at her.
Kia followed them and she was staring at her father talking to one of her mother’s daughter. She looked back at her mother.
Her face was wet from the tears coming out of her eyes.
“ Take care of everybody . Especially your dad,” Kia’s mother voice croak out “ I love you all. I love you Kia. My eyes really hurt and they feel better when I close them.” Kia’s mother closed her eyes.
The beeping sound of the ventilator started to go crazy that set the alarm in the room off.
Nurses and Doctors came running in trying to revive her.
Kia watched it all.
She saw the faces change when they gave up.
As they all left, Kia was left in there.
Kia went to  her mother. She saw her eyes.
They were back to them beautiful brown eyes.
All Kia did was stare at her.
As her father and brothers walked in. Ernest broke down.
The kids were shocked at Ernest because he never broke down.
At the funeral, while everybody mourn. Ernest mourn the loudest.
Kia watch her mother casket get push down six feet under.
She saw her dad just sill and quiet.
She hugged her dad.
“ Daddy, I will always take care of you,” Kia said quietly, “ I will do what momma told me and as her beautiful brown eyes watch me.”
Ernest broked down.
Ever since then, Kia took care of her dad.
“Kia, Kia!” Asia shouted at her while waving her hand in her face. Kia snapped out of her thoughts and looked at Asia.
The chair was turn to the mirror at the finish process of her hair.
Kia always got her hair straighten whenever Florian has a big fight. It seems whenever Kia got her hair straighten; it seems like Florian won his fight.
“ Thanks girl.” Kia spoke in a mellow way.
“ You are going to leave your car here and I am driving.” Asia replied back sharply while looking at her friend.
Kia looked at Asia, where both of there eyes met. Kia didn’t even try to fight knowing Asia was not going to have no for an answer.
Kia and Asia both walked out of the salon and to her car. With that, Kia and Asia decided that where going to go to a sushi restaurant.
As Asia started the car, Kia went back about thinking about her mom.
Those beautiful brown eyes saw her daughter hurting from heaven. She knew in two days that her daughter was going make a decision that would change her.
For better and worst.
-------------------------------
“ Two California rolls and one spicy tuna sushi roll!” the chippy, server brought the food to Asia and Kia. The server skip away from the table after putting down her food.
“ Girl, was that women a leprechaun or something. Over there skipping away.” Asia said bewildered by the woman very over happy attiude.
Kia laughed for the first time today.
“ What for real. That is the ones that you watch out for. Those would be the people that would killed you while smiling.” Asia mumbled while still looking at the server.
“ Girl, you need to stop watching the investigation network channel!” Kia laughed while put some soy sauce in the one of the bowl.
Asia turn back to the table and laughed along with Kia.
“ Well are you going back to the house?” Asia asked Kia as she dip her Califorina roll into the soy sauce.
Kia tense up as they move the topic about Florian.
“ Can we not.” Kia rebuke back to Asia as she ate her spicy tune roll.
Asia rolled her eyes knowing that Masias would not like that answer about that. Masias and Asia was dating for about two years now. With that, Masias was one of Florian coaches and he could see that Florian was off his game after eating dinner.
Momma Florian told Masias about what happen and to see if he could get in touch with me.
“ Please, cause you know this is one of Florian biggest matches and he needs you girl to be his support. I know y’all going through something, but he needs his wife in his corner for this fight.” Asia explained to Kia as she trying to get to go home.
As Kia was listening to Asia, she saw Dominque, his cousin, and Brooks Jones.
“ Oh no.” Kia mumbled out as she was looking at them ask for a table. Asia followed her eyes and saw them.
As Kia and Asia was looking, Dominque look that way. Kia quickly turn her head the other way. However, Dominque walked over to them.
“Kia. Asia.” Dominque said while looking at the two women, but his eyes focus on Kia.
“Well look a here. It is the man that told my friend to abort there baby. What else,” Asia questioned, “ The same person that also verbal abuse her. Oh hello.” Asia gave him a sarcastic smile.
Dominque sighed and gulped.
Kia looked at Asia and sighed.
“ Dominque.” Kia said while looking at him.
“ I love my husband. With that, I don’t want you. I never want you again. Just please leave me alone and my family.” Kia spat out while looking at Dominque.
Kia saw Dominque face change to anger. The same face anger that she seen before. However he did something unexpectedly:
He laughed.
“ Well, you are the same bitch I left. You know, I didn’t want to see your ass. However, your dad called me and said that Kia was sorry for ever breaking up with me. With that, she is so sorry for spreading those lies about your temper,” Dominque snapped, “ I know that you going to coward to your daddy per usual and listen to him. Even when he does you wrong! Guess what, you are the main reason that you and Florian can’t be happy!”
As he finish saying that, Kia got up and slapped him.
This cause attention to move onto them.
“ You shut up! My dad would never do that! I fucking hate you!” Kia shouted and slapped him again and again. While she was slapping him, Dominque just laugh and laugh and laugh.
All a sudden she felt somebody pulled her away. She knew it couldn’t be Asia because she was five months pregnant and this person had huge muscles.
The person put her back down on the ground. She looked up and saw Brooks Jones.
“ Why the hell would you touch me!” Kia yelled at Brooks.
Brooks tall stature, 6 feet 1, and bulging muscles didn’t scared Kia one bit.
“ Well you was beating up on my cousin- in law.” Brooks laughed at the Kia.
“ Kia let’s go!” Asia said while trying to pull her away.
Brooks realized the name and smirk at her.
“ Oh so you are the woman, who writes my checks and about to have a beat up husband,” Brooks booming laugh, “ Tell your husband that he is a bitch just like his wife!”
Kia anger by his comment, grab somebodies water and threw on him. With that, she also threw the glass.
As she finish, Asia got enough grip and pulled Kia out of the restaurant. As Asia was pulling, Kia saw all the phones in the air capturing the exchange.
Asia got Kia in the car and then went to get in her side too.
“ Kia what the hell was that! This about to be every where!” Asia sighed while trying to catch her breath.
Kia  drunk a lot of Soju, a Korean beer, and she was a lightweight.
Kia just shook her head with her leg shaking.
“ You are too drunk Kia. Damn plus it is late.” Asia hissed as she read the clock, 12:45 a.m.
Asia cranked the car and went to take Kia home.
While back inside of the restaurant, Dominque was explain what is happening to his cousin and Brooks.
As he was talking and Brooks was listening.
The wheels started to turn.
Brooks knew that Florian wasn’t going to be easy. However, he don’t like when people talk about his family.
Brooks smirk as he devious plan was stirring in his head which was going to help him win against Florian.
-------------------------------------------------------------
As Asia pulled into the driveway, she called Florian. Asia knowing that she can’t help her friend in the house due to her bulging belly.
She had to call someone.
The phone rang and rang.
“ Hello.” Florian groggily said into the phone.
“ Hey Florian. I need you come and get Kia out of the car for me.” Asia whispered as Kia was knocked out in the passenger seat.
Asia heard Florian sighed and the bed rustling.
“ I’m coming.” Florian hissed out as he walk downstairs to get Kia.
Asia hung up the phone and turn to her friend.
Kia and Asia agreed that Kia was going to tell Florian about what happen, but she knew Kia was going to try and figure a way to not tell him.
She fell asleep.
Asia wanted to tell Florian about what happen, but she knew that this was something her friend needed to tell him.
As Asia was thinking to herself. She saw the door opening.
Florian walked out the door and saw Asia’s car.
As Florian walked over he could see that Kia was drunk by how she was sleeping.
Florian walked over to the passenger side and open the door. He bent down and spoke to Asia.
“ Masias is in the guest house.” Florian smiled to Asia. He looked at Asia’s belly and sighed as he looked back to his wife.
As he picked her up, Kia woke up. She looked around as Florian brought her out the car.
While carrying her like a bride on her wedding night, Florian made sure Asia got in the house first. With that, they walked in the door with Asia shutting it behind them.
“ Goodnight.” Asia whispered as she tip toe around people on the floor, sleeping, to get to the guest house.
Florian walked up the stairs with Kia in his arms. He walked through their room door and gently put Kia in the bed.
Kia looked up at him as he went back to close the door.
When Florian turn back around, he saw Kia looking at him.
He just shook his head.
“What?” Kia spat out while looking at her husband.
Her drunkenness' was coming through.
“ You are what is wrong with me Kia. Why the hell would you get drunk. You know what tomorrow!” Florian hissed quietly so he would not disrupt anybody sleeping.
Kia scoffed and got up to change out her clothes.
“ Trust me I tried not to come back here!” Kia rebuked back to him.
Florian watched as she stumble all over the place to get to one of the dressers.
“ You make me sick sometimes!” Florian snapped at his wife while watching her put her pajamas on which she fell after she got her pants on.
Kia finish putting her pajamas and turn her head.
“ You make me sick Florian. Not only sometimes but all the time. You and my dad make me sick all the time!” Kia yelled back while getting into the bed.
Kia looked up at Florian looking at her.
“ You are not the woman that I fell in love with. The woman that wanted kids. The woman who had dreams and ambitions to start something of her own. However, you letting one person destroy that. The same person that is destroying this marriage.” Florian said furiously while looking at his wife.
Florian walked over to his side of the bed and took his shirt back off. He got under the covers and turn his face away from Kia.
Kia looked at Florian for a while.
“ Well Florian if you want a divorce get one. Leave just like my mom left me! Just leave!” Kia yelled with tears coming down her eyes.
She snatched the covers over her body and turn face the other way.
Kia sniffled and sniffled from the tears coming down.
Florian listen.
Even though Kia didn’t hear.
Florian had tears coming down his face too.
The couple’s back looking at each other.
Both hurting.

fic: I’d marry you with paper rings (Nando/Quinn, NC-17)
Man, I don’t even know. I’m maybe writing a fic that’s forced slow burn, and I needed to write something light and easy. Mel’s Cricket Series has brought me so much joy and happiness during this weird and crappy spring, and when I read this post, I was like, yes, let’s write my obligatory crossdressing fic that i apparently write for every ship i ever write for, and this thing just ... happened.
@poindextears, thank you for letting me take your characters and have my wicked way with them. Also, I’m sorry.
Here’s this thing on ao3.
Nando would be lying if he said he wasn’t a little bit worried about the way Quinn has been behaving today. He’s not sure anyone else has picked up on it, but then again, no one else spends as much time as close to Quinn as Nando does. He doesn’t really know how to explain it, but if he had to, he thinks he’d describe Quinn as skittish today. He hasn’t shied away from Nando’s touch, really, but he has tensed up slightly every time Nando’s hand has reached below, like, shoulder level. It’s weird, Nando doesn’t like it.
Something about the check in at the hotel is taking longer than usual. Everyone else has already been sent off to their rooms, but Quinn is still talking with the guy behind the desk. He has to stand on his toes to properly reach up and it probably shouldn’t be as adorable as it is, but it’s not like Nando makes the rules. His boyfriend is adorable, that’s just the way it is. And, finally, his boyfriend is done being Team Manager. Nando sincerely hopes everyone will behave tonight, so he can have Quinn as his Boyfriend until they wake up tomorrow. He grabs their bags and starts heading along the corridor everyone else had gone into, but Quinn’s voice stops him.
“Sebastián. This way.” Nando turns around, and Quinn is standing by another corridor, reaching out a hand. Nando is confused, but where Quinn goes, he follows, so he walks over and takes his hand.
“Where are we going?” he asks as they head down the corridor towards an elevator.
“To our room, of course,” Quinn says, then starts humming a song Nando doesn’t recognize. Nando sighs, but he doesn’t ask any more questions. He’s learned a lot during his almost-four years at Samwell, and one of those things is when it’s just completely useless to try to get Quinn to talk when he doesn’t want to.
They take the elevator to the fourth floor, then Quinn leads them through corridors and around corners. There is no way Nando will be able to find his way out of here alone. He squeezes Quinn’s hand. Good thing he won’t have to.
Finally, Quinn stops in front of a door at the end of a hallway and taps the keycard against the lock. The door beeps, lets them in, and Nando barely has time to drop their bags on the floor before Quinn is on him, kissing him like they’ve been apart for weeks. Nando responds in kind, but he barely has time to put his hands on Quinn’s waist before Quinn pulls away.
“I’m going to take a shower,” he says. Nando looks at him, surprised. He doesn’t bother pointing out that it’s pretty useless to take a shower before they have sex, because Quinn knows that as well as he does. But, if Quinn is taking a shower now, that might mean he’s not up for sex, but that’s also weird, because between the two of them, Nando is usually the one who begs off. Not that it happens often (because hello), but when it does, it’s usually Nando.
That doesn’t mean he won’t respect Quinn’s wishes, though, of course he won’t try to talk Quinn into having sex with him. “Okay,” he says, and if he wasn’t already pressed against the door, he would take a step back. Instead, he shoves his hands into his pockets. Quinn reaches up to press a kiss to his jaw, then grabs his bag and locks himself in the bathroom. Nando stands by the door for a few seconds, confused by what just happened, before he grabs his own bag and moves further into the room.
There’s a double bed, which is standard for the two of them nowadays (Nando loves that he’s dating the team manager), a desk, a tv. Standard room. He drops his bag and starts to pull off his clothes, preparing for bed. It’s quick work, then he grabs the tv remote from the desk and lies down on the bed. He kicks the bedspread down and then starts to channel surf, with the sound of Quinn’s shower in the background.
A few minutes later, he hears Quinn coming out of the bathroom. Nando moves to grab his toiletry bag, his attention mostly on the tv, but he flicks one glance at Quinn and freezes.
“Uhm,” Nando says, then swallows. Quinn, his outrageously hot boyfriend, the love of his life, is standing in front of him wearing nothing but a sweatshirt. Nando’s sweatshirt. It’s a navy blue soft-washed thing that Nando barely recognizes, he hasn’t used it in a long while, which means Quinn probably dug through his closet to get it. Nando doesn’t mind, especially when this is the result. The sweatshirt is too big on Quinn, it reaches halfway down his thighs and the arms have been folded up to show his hands. At the neck, the opening is wide and shows Quinn’s collar bone. His hair is ruffled in the way he only allows it to be immediately after a shower, and Nando is going to explode with how much he loves Quinn. Also, he’s going to have to jerk off in the bathroom, because Quinn looking like this does things to Nando.
He takes a breath to steady himself and then stands up. His erection is showing and he knows it, but at least he no longer feels guilty at being turned on by the sight of his boyfriend looking like a wet dream.
“Get back on the bed,” Quinn says in a no bullshit voice. Nando is used to it by now.
“Baby, I just need to—”
“Sebastián. Get back. On the bed,” Quinn repeats, much sharper, and Nando’s dick twitches. He gets back on the bed.
“Are we gonna have sex?” he asks, because he needs to know. Quinn kneels on the bed and stares at him.
“Of course we’re going to have sex,” he says. “Did you think we weren’t?”
Nando shrugs. “I mean ...” he waves a hand towards the bathroom. Quinn rolls his eyes and crawls towards him.
“You’re an idiot,” he says, but the tone of his voice makes it sound like I love you.
Nando settles back on the bed and drags Quinn towards him, onto his lap. “I’m your idiot, though,” he says, wrapping his arms around Quinn’s waist and pressing his face into the curve of Quinn’s neck. He smells like soap, and his skin is still slightly damp from the shower, and Nando loves him so much. “I love you,” he says, because he needs to. He doesn’t need to see Quinn’s face to know he’s smiling.
“I love you, too,” Quinn says, and then he grinds down on Nando’s lap, reminding him that while his boyfriend is the sweetest man he’s ever met, he’s also a sexual deviant who’s going to break Nando one of these days, honestly. “Not having sex,” Quinn continues under his breath as he settles into a much-too slow rhythm. “As if. I even flirted with the reception staff to get us a room without anyone next door.”
“Baby,” Nando groans, equal parts impressed and jealous. Given the chance, Quinn is loud during sex, and between the Haus and Quinn’s dorm, there aren’t many chances. They didn’t even realize just how much being loud was a thing until this past summer, when they’d spent hours in Nando’s childhood bed, both sisters and Mama out of the house. Nando’s dick twitches just at the thought of Quinn not having to hold back anything tonight. If he’d had any lingering tiredness in him after the game, it’s fully and thoroughly gone by now.
He slides his hands from Quinn’s waist, down under the sweatshirt to grab his ass, but stops when his fingers don’t meet the soft cotton or bare skin he’s expecting. He lifts the hem of the shirt to get a look and holy fucking fuck Nando is going to die, and when his Mama finds out the cause of death she’s going to revive him only to kill him again, but it will be worth it.
Quinn, his beautiful, sexy, adorable Quinn, is sitting on his lap, draped in Nando’s sweater, and lace panties. They’re a dark, rich purple, contrasting beautifully to Quinn’s winter pale skin, and Nando doesn’t know what to do. He wants to look at Quinn forever but he also wants to put his hands and his mouth all over him and worship him. Also fuck him.
“Is this—okay?” Quinn asks, suddenly unsure when Nando is having a minor breakdown. It makes Nando pull himself together, a little bit, enough to realize that there is no way he can let Quinn be even the tiniest bit unsure if Nando likes this or not. He moves his hands up to cup Quinn’s face and kisses him, trying to put everything into it. They usually discuss it at least twice before they bring anything new into bed, but Quinn hasn’t said a word about this, so Nando gets why he’s worried, but Nando also has absolutely no complaints whatsoever. And it’s not like it’s a completely new thing, Nando hasn’t exactly been discreet when they prep for Rhodey’s shows, but they still haven’t discussed it, not in this context. So yeah, Nando gets why Quinn might be worried, so he really, really tries to convey with his kiss how much he absolutely doesn’t mind, how much he loves it, how turned on he is just by the short glimpse he caught. Which—Nando should do something about that. He needs to see.
“Wha—Sebastián!” Quinn yelps as Nando grabs him at the waist again and flips him over, onto his back. He straddles Quinn’s thighs and pushes the sweatshirt halfway up his stomach, and then he just—looks. It’s maybe the best thing Nando has seen in his entire life. Quinn is hard, and some part of Nando will probably never get over the fact that he brings out this reaction in Quinn.
Nando drags a hand down Quinn’s stomach, lets his fingers ghost feather light over Quinn’s cock, over the lace.
“Say something,” Quinn says finally, and Nando realizes that he hasn’t, in fact, said anything for several minutes.
“Oh my god,” he breathes, stroking his palm over Quinn’s cock, feeling it twitch against him. “Quinn, baby, you—you’re the hottest fucking thing I’ve ever seen,” Nando says, and Quinn blushes. “I love you so much,” he says, again, because he has to. He rubs harder against Quinn, and Quinn responds by arching up against his hand and letting his head fall back, exposing his neck. Nando leans forward and presses a kiss against the flushed skin, then opens his mouth and sucks a mark there. It’s winter, Quinn wears scarfs all the time anyway. Quinn moans, and Nando can’t help but preen a little. He is the cause of that moan.
Nando’s own dick is rock hard in his boxers, and he groans when his hips jerk down on their own accord, making him grind against Quinn’s thigh.
“What do you want, baby?” he asks, because seriously, Nando wants everything right now, he can’t decide, Quinn’s going to have to call the shots here. Quinn’s hands clench where he’s gripping Nando’s sides, and he draws in a sharp breath.
“You—your mouth, please,” Quinn says, almost whines.
“Yeah?” Nando works his way up Quinn’s neck with kisses, then finally reaches his mouth and kisses him properly. “You want me to suck you off?”
“Yes, fuck,” Quinn breathes out against Nando’s mouth, and okay, if Quinn’s already cursing, this won’t take long.
Well. It won’t take long the first time.
Nando kisses Quinn for another couple of seconds before he tears himself away and crawls down the bed again. Quinn is still wearing the sweatshirt, and Nando is in no hurry to take it off him, he loves seeing Quinn in his clothes.
He also loves seeing Quinn in lace panties, which was not something Nando expected to learn about himself, but he’s not sorry at all about that revelation. Quinn’s cock is straining against the purple lace, and it must be a boy model, because there seems to be more room for that than what Nando would’ve expected. He wonders if Quinn bought them the last time he was in Boston, or if he ordered them online, if he has more, and which colors, and—God, Nando is about to die.
He knows they will talk about this, later, so for now, he just bends down and presses a soft kiss to the tip of Quinn’s cock. Quinn draws a sharp breath, and when Nando glances to the side, he sees that his hands are gripping the sheets. Nando would absolutely love to drag this out for hours, but he’s too turned on, Quinn is too turned on, they actually need to sleep at some point, so in what should be considered an act of mercy, Nando pulls the front of the panties down enough to get Quinn’s cock out, then takes half of it in his mouth in one go.
“Fuck,” Quinn shouts, as if it’s been punched out of him. This is why they take advantage of hotel rooms.
Nando smiles, sinks further down, takes more of him in his mouth. After three years, he likes to consider himself an expert on sucking (Quinn’s) cock, and he really, really likes doing it. He loves the feeling of Quinn’s cock in his mouth, loves that he can render Quinn into this whimpering mess with just his mouth, loves that he can glance up and watch his reaction, loves when Quinn sometimes tangles his fingers in Nando’s curls and presses him down, never forcefully, but enough that Nando gets the hint. He even likes the taste, which wasn’t something he expected, but sure does make things a lot easier.
He likes it even more when Quinn is not fresh from the shower, like when they meet up after Quinn has had an intensive dance rehearsal. He hasn’t dared to say that out loud yet, though.
When Nando pulls off to breathe, Quinn whines. It’s such a difference from his normal, composed self, and Nando feels privileged that he gets to see it, gets to draw it out of him. He has to reach down and stroke himself a couple of times, just to take the worst of the edge off, and for the briefest of moments, he’s tempted to just kneel and jerk off until he comes all over Quinn. It passes when he takes Quinn’s cock back in his mouth. He swallows around him, takes more of him, and Quinn groans.
“Fuck, you’re so good at this,” Quinn pants, and Nando smiles around him. He slides his hands down Quinn’s thighs, grabs him behind the knees and pulls his legs up to rest on Nando’s shoulders. It gives him better access to grab Quinn’s ass, to run his palms over the lace there, and Quinn moans, jerks his hips up to fuck into Nando’s mouth.
It takes just another few seconds of enthusiastic sucking from Nando before Quinn’s hand settles on his neck, a sure sign that he’s close. Nando sucks harder, runs his tongue up the length, squeezes Quinn’s ass again, and that’s enough. Quinn grabs his neck harder, a warning, and Nando has no plans to pull off but appreciates it anyway, swallows easily as Quinn comes in his mouth, all while Quinn keeps up a steady stream of fuck and oh god.
He pulls off when Quinn tugs at the curls at the back of his neck and looks up to grin at him. He presses a kiss to the inside of Quinn’s thigh before he crawls up again, hovering over Quinn, covering him, as he bends down to kiss him.
Quinn kisses him back lazily, licks into his mouth, licks the taste of himself out of Nando’s mouth, and it probably shouldn’t be as hot as it is.
They stay like that for a while, but despite Nando’s fairly rigorous training routine, he still can’t hold himself up on his arms like this for long. He swings one leg over Quinn so he can kneel beside him, kisses Quinn one more time, then gets off the bed to grab the lube.
During their first spring together, when they started getting intimate, they’d gone to the student health center for STI testing. They’d both been clean, not that Nando hadn’t expected anything else, but his Mama didn’t raise no fool. They still use condoms sometimes, because cleanup is easier, but after some experimenting, they’d found they both enjoy the sloppy, filthy part of it. So Nando grabs the lube, no condom, and gets back on the bed.
“Flip over,” he says and takes off his underwear, Quinn doesn’t obey, instead he kneels on the bed and brings his arms up around Nando’s neck and angles his face up to kiss him. Nando wraps his arms around him and drags him closer, settles one hand on his ass and cups Quinn’s head with the other.
Quinn’s crotch rubs against Nando’s thigh, and his dick is still hanging out. It looks a tiny bit silly, but feels incredibly sexy, and Nando is so, so glad that multiple orgasms come easy for his boyfriend. It allows for situations like these, where he can suck him off and then fuck him, and it’s—amazing.
Nando moves his hand a little, puts his fingers against the crack of Quinn’s ass, presses gently against the lace, and—He draws a sharp breath and looks down at Quinn.
“Baby,” he says, unsure, and Quinn’s shy smile is answer enough. Nando is going to die. “Did you—Have you—All day?” Nando asks, incapable of complete sentences. Quinn nods. Him shying away from Nando’s touches all day suddenly makes sense. Nando quickly thinks through what they’ve been doing today and groans, then presses harder against the base of the plug that Quinn has had in his ass all fucking day. Through breakfast, the bus ride, the game, everything.
“How are you even real?” Nando asks and moves his hands so they’re inside the panties instead. He doesn’t allow Quinn to answer, kisses him instead, grabs the base of the plug and twists it.
Nando is ... well equipped. Quinn loves it, so it’s not an issue or anything, but it does require some preparation. Butt plugs aren’t a new thing for them, and Quinn has worn them for a longer period before, but during those times, they’ve both been in on it, and it’s been low-stakes situations like just hanging around campus or maybe during a home game. He’s never had one in for this long, in secret, while just going around his business.
“Sebastián,” Quinn moans, getting impatient. “Please, just—”
“Okay, baby,” Nando murmurs, pressing another kiss to his lips before looking over Quinn’s shoulder, down his back, to where his hands are straining against the lace, pressed against Quinn’s ass. “God,” Nando breathes. He pulls down the waistband of the panties, settling it just below the curve of Quinn’s ass. When Quinn makes a motion as if to pull them off, Nando grips his ass harder. “No,” he says. “Leave them on.”
Quinn gives him a dirty smile, as if he isn’t the one wearing lingerie. Nando smacks his ass, once, and Quinn gasps and goes absolutely still. They rarely do that, because Nando isn’t really a fan, but Quinn loves it. Nando takes advantage of Quinn’s stillness to reach for the lube, then sucks another mark on his neck as he gives him another smack.
“Fuck,” Quinn moans, pressing against him, trying to get impossibly closer. “Baby, please.”
Nando presses soothing kisses against the mark he just made, simultaneously uncapping the lube and coating the fingers on one hand. With the other, he gently drags the plug out of Quinn’s ass. Quinn moans, and Nando kisses him, swallows the sound, even though he doesn’t really have to, here, in this room. He presses two fingers in, easily thanks to the plug, and god, Nando hopes he never gets used to this, never takes this for granted.
He adds another finger, and it’s only thanks to the fact that he’s so much bigger than Quinn that this position is even possible. He can’t actually fuck him in this position, though. Nando pushes Quinn away, gently, but can’t decide which way he wants him. Quinn on his back means he can keep the panties on, but Nando sort of wants to see his face.
Quinn, as always, seems to read the dilemma on his face. “I can wear them again,” he says, gently, as if that statement doesn’t break Nando’s brain. At least it helps him make up his mind.
“On your back,” he says, and Quinn grins at him as he obeys. He finally gets to take his underwear off, throws them carelessly onto the floor, spreads his legs.
Nando grabs the bottle of lube and moves to kneel between Quinn’s legs, again. It’s definitely one of his favorite places in the world. He lubes his dick, quickly, adds more lube to his fingers to press into Quinn with a couple of fast pumps. Lining up his cock with Quinn’s hole, he meets Quinn’s gaze, raises an eyebrow in silent question and gets a nod in return. Nando starts to push in, slowly. This part is always the hardest (hah), because there’s no getting around that Nando is big and Quinn is small and no matter how many times they do this, it’s not like his ass will stretch. Not that Nando would want it to, because this feels so good, but it wouldn’t exactly hurt if they could do it a little bit faster sometimes.
A minute later, Nando is fully inside of Quinn, and leans down to kiss him. He pauses there, waits patiently until Quinn moves his hips a little, fucking himself onto Nando’s cock. That’s when Nando moves back to kneeling between his legs, carefully pulling out almost all the way before pushing in again.
Quinn is still wearing the fucking sweatshirt, and if Nando’s brain wasn’t already broken, it would definitely break at the sight of him like this, with his head thrown back, throat exposed, one hand around his cock and the other clenched in the sheets until Nando reaches for it and tangles their fingers together. It’s such a soft gesture, feels at odds with what they’re currently doing, but it also feels right.
Little by little, Nando increases his pace, until he has to let go of Quinn’s hand and grab his hips to keep them steady. Quinn has his legs wrapped around Nando’s waist, his heels digging into Nando’s ass, and it’s—perfect. It’s perfect, perfect, perfect, Nando is so happy, lucky, turned on, in love, he’s going to explode.
He slips during a thrust, just a little, but enough to change the angle, and Quinn’s responding moan is obscenely loud.
“Fuck, oh my god, honey, god, keep—there, please,” he moans, begs, and Nando does his best to keep fucking him from the slightly different angle. He’s close, he has been close since Quinn got out of the bathroom dressed like that, and it’s not going to take a lot more for him to—
“Quinn, baby, I’m—,” he stutters, past being able to make sense, but Quinn gets it, of course he gets it. He clenches around Nando’s cock, jerks himself faster, brings his other hand down to stroke his balls. His fingertips brush against Nando’s dick and it’s like his fingers are made of electricity, the tiny touch sparks something deep inside of Nando and he just, it feels like he just combusts from within.
Nando is pretty sure his brain leaves him for a moment, because when he comes back to himself, he’s laying on top of Quinn, his face pressed against Quinn’s neck, his cock still inside him, and his breaths coming in heaving gasps. “Fucking hell,” he pants, and feels more than hears Quinn’s responding weak chuckle. He feels Quinn’s heavy breaths, feels his come sticking to his stomach and seeping into the sweater, feels the satisfaction that settles on both of them.
Quinn drags his hands out from between them and settles them on Nando’s back instead, and Nando doesn’t care that they’re sticky, he needs a shower anyway. Quinn does, too.
“I love you,” Nando says, turning his head to kiss Quinn, slow and indulgent, before he kneels up again to pull out.
“I, ah, I love you, too,” Quinn replies, grimacing a little.
“Sorry,” Nando whispers, but Quinn just smiles back at him. It’s par for the course, and it’s worth it.
Nando lies down beside Quinn and wraps an arm around him, pulling him close. “Thank you,” he says, pressing a kiss to Quinn’s mouth, then another.
“For what?”
Nando shrugs. “For getting us this room. For being awesome. For ...” He trails off, glances quickly towards where Quinn threw the panties earlier, and Quinn grins, understanding.
“I take it you like them?” he says, aiming for innocence and failing completely.
“I love them. I love you,” Nando says, and he doesn’t even know how many times he’s said it tonight, but it can’t be too many because there’s no such thing. He grabs Quinn and rearranges them until Quinn is laying on top of him. Nando strokes his back through the sweater, slowly moves his hand further down until he’s cupping Quinn’s ass. He presses his fingers gently against Quinn’s hole, sticky with lube and Nando’s come, and can’t help but smile when Quinn hisses.
“Sebastián. I’m too tired,” he says, and Nando kisses the part of him closest to his mouth, which happens to be the top of Quinn’s ear.
“I know,” he says. He isn’t aiming for a third round, he just can never help himself with this, dreams of a day when he gets to just lay Quinn out on a bed and see how many orgasms he can give him, what Quinn will sound like at the end, how he will look, and okay, Nando needs to stop right now before he does want a third round. “I can’t wait until we get to do this every day,” he says, a smile on his face like there always is when he thinks about them living together.
“Every day?” Quinn replies, and Nando hears his smirk. “Sounds optimistic.”
“Oh shut up,” Nando says, pressing two fingers inside of Quinn just to spite him. “You know it will happen, at least in the beginning.”
“True,” Quinn concedes, obviously torn between tearing himself away from Nando’s teasing and just giving into it. Nando makes the decision for him, because they do really have to sleep. He drags his fingers out, wipes them on the sweater and then gently pushes Quinn off of him.
“I need to shower,” he says, stepping down onto the floor and holding out a hand to Quinn. “Wanna join?”
“Why yes, Mr Hernandez,” Quinn says, taking his hand. “I’d love to.”
Nando loves him so fucking much.

Chapter four
Steve whistled along to the song on the radio as he drove off-base. The day had been long—the new cadets weren’t where they were supposed to be in their training—but there was still a sense of calm that had evaded him for a long time. It had been one of the reasons to find a place in town, the extra commute a small price to pay to lose the feeling of constant vigilance. He hadn’t been able to turn his brain off with his cadets so close by; it always felt like he was still on the job. Still, he knew there was more to it. Rebecca had so much to do with his continuous good mood. She was vibrant, filled with passion for any and all things life—and it rubbed off on him. Not that he wasn’t content, but it was easy to become stuck in a rut. Rebecca had this light inside of her that made everything seem brighter, more beautiful. It was something he had admired in childhood, and he loved it even more now.
Her happiness had them dancing through the room on their nights in, and it took her to clubs on the weekends. She had gone dancing every weekend these past six weeks, and Steve had been happy to go along, if only to watch her shine. Whether she was goofing off or losing herself to the beat, there was a radiant smile on her face that he cherished.
His stares in her direction hadn’t gone unnoticed, and a few weeks ago, Sam had finally commented on it. He too got dragged along to the clubs, though he seemed less out of place than Steve felt. Sam loved to dance, was good at it too. And much like Steve, he also enjoyed the act of watching the women dance. Of course, as a good boyfriend would, his eyes were solely fixed on Natasha. At least, that’s what Steve thought, but Sam was more observant that he had given the man credit for. All Sam had asked was if there was something brewing between Steve and Rebecca—innocent enough, though Steve thought there was more to it. Steve had denied the claim, all while blushing violently, which couldn’t be hidden by the dimmed lighting—nothing could have hidden it. Sam had barked out a laugh, informing Steve that he was a terrible liar, though that had been the end of the conversation. That was, until they had been on their way home again. Steve had been driving, Sam next to him and Natasha and Rebecca in the back.
With the four of them so tired, Sam had taken it upon himself to keep the conversation going, prompting subjects that were too close for comfort to Steve. Love at first sight versus it blooming from friendship, and the way close proximity could change relationships. Natasha had been happy to join her boyfriend in torturing Steve, telling them that she had loved getting to know Sam when they were dating, but that there was something to be said about friends becoming lovers and the foundation on which that relationship would be built. At the time, Steve had wished he could have jumped from the car, but Rebecca had seemed oblivious to their true intentions.
Steve shook the memories from his mind as best he could and hoped that the tinge of red that had risen on his cheeks by just thinking of their teasing would disappear soon.
Steve felt more tired now, his jumbled thoughts and feelings draining him easily, and hoped that Rebecca would join him for a night in. Since it was his turn to get dinner, he exited the highway and drove towards the mall. As soon as he parked, he called Rebecca to discuss his plans. She answered before the second ring.
“Hello?” Her tone was absentminded and he knew she had not checked caller-id before picking up. He imagined she had probably been lost in a book and he smiled. He loved it when she got like that, especially when she wanted to passionately discuss the book afterwards.
“Hey, Bec. I was thinking of takeout and a movie—are you in?” He asked, and he could hear her moving around before she answered him.
“Sounds good,” she finally answered and he waited a few moments to say anything else, knowing full well that she would tell him her preferences in a second. “How about Chinese?” She said finally.
“Perfect. I’ll be home soon,” Steve replied and hung up the phone, a smile still playing on his lips.
As he walked through the mall, towards her favourite restaurant and hoped that choosing it would aid in returning the favour that she had bestowed on him. It had not evaded his attention that she had been cooking some of his favourite meals lately. Unfortunately he wasn’t quite as good a cook as she was, so getting her favourite takeout seemed like the next best thing. Soon after, Steve walked back in the direction of his car with two bags filled with enough food to feed a small family. He was ready to put the work week behind him and kick off his shoes. However, before he made it to the exit, his eye fell upon a little flower shop, and he allowed himself one small detour; with a beautiful bouquet in hand and a spring in his step, he finally left the mall behind and drove the short distance home.
He kicked his shoes off by the door and made his way into the living room to deposit the food on the table, while keeping the flowers hidden behind his back. Rebecca smiled brightly as she walked out of the kitchen with plates and cutlery in her hands.
“Smells so good!” She sniffed the bags as she put the plates down.
She turned around and found Steve regarding her with a broad smile. Raising an eyebrow in question, she stared back at him. He removed the flowers from behind his back and stuck his arms out to her.
“Pretty flowers for a beautiful lady.” He leaned forward to kiss her cheek.
“You spoil me.” Rebecca blushed as she smelled them, her heart skipping a beat when she realised he went out of his way to get them for her. She smiled warmly, before walking into the kitchen to search for a vase. Steve followed her.
“You deserve it.” He shrugged and she scoffed at his words, confusing him.
“After last weekend, you deserve to be treated far more than me,” she chuckled, and he could not help but laugh along. Still, he placed a gentle hand on her back and rubbed softly, trying to tell her that he hadn’t minded the events one bit.
Rebecca blushed as she remembered her antics. She had gone for a girls’ night out—she and Natasha had been joined by some friends from Uni, prompting a mini reunion. The night had ended with Steve getting a drunken call well past his bedtime. Apparently none of them had anticipated the amount of alcohol that had flowed, and instead of calling a cab, Uber or Lyft, Rebecca had rung him. Sober, she would have never risked waking him up, but Drunk Rebecca had not cared. She had happily giggled as she pleaded with him to come get them. Steve had only been too happy to do it, which was why he had waved away her apologies the following morning. After driving the other women home, he had made sure that Rebecca would find her bed, going as far as placing a bucket next to it, just in case. Thankfully for both of them, alcohol rarely had that effect on her. It would have caused even more embarrassment for her.
Of course, there was one moment which neither of them dared to speak about. Rebecca wished the ground would swallow her whole, just thinking of it. She didn’t need to hear his take on the subject to intensify the shame.
In her drunken state, she had abandoned all pretence and tried to seduce him. For whatever reason, she had thought herself sexy, tripping over her own feet. Walking her fingers up his chest, she had complimented his shape—she had even used a husky tone in her words. Though perhaps the most humiliating had been his kind smile as he tucked her in, after evading her kisses. Instead he had kissed her forehead as he so often seemed to do and walked out of her room.
In her reminiscing, she missed the blush that covered Steve’s features as he remembered the effect she’d had on him. As soon as her fingers had begun caressing his chest, all the air had been sucked out of him. And when her hands found his neck, to pull him closer and whisper sweet nothings to him, leaving only a hair's width between their lips, it had taken all he had to pull back. He had been sure she didn’t mean it and as much as he would have loved to kiss her, he would never take advantage of her. That had been the moment where Steve realised just how hard it was to have her so close, even though he would still hate to see her go. Even with Bucky coming home, he couldn’t think of it—he wished she would never leave.
***
Later that evening, when the movie they had decided to watch ended, Steve stood to get them both another refill, while Rebecca flipped through the channels. She wasn’t ready to go to sleep, though it seemed too late to start another movie.
“Want more popcorn?” Steve called from the kitchen.
She smiled as she glanced over her shoulder to see him already grabbing another bag. He did that a lot—asking if she wanted something when in reality he did. Only with food though, the unhealthy variety mostly. As if he needed an excuse to eat it. Not that she minded—she’d rather add another work-out to her week than skip the salty snack that was now popping in the microwave.
“Not that you needed an answer, but I’d love more,” she chuckled and turned back to the TV.
Onscreen, a rerun of Grey’s Anatomy ended and gave way to commercials. She barely acknowledged them as she opened the tv-guide to see what was on. Her attention was brought back, however, when they announced the revival of her favourite musical, and she quickly closed the guide. Steve came back with their glasses and watched her shift in her seat, getting giddy. He couldn’t help but smile, when he had seen the commercial last week, he had instantly thought of her.
“Ohhh, I love this one!” She mused, still staring at the screen. She knew that going would interfere with her plan of saving money, which severely dampened her enthusiasm, but a girl could dream.
Still, she reminded herself that the day of her brother’s return was coming close and she would need to vacate his room soon. After the hard work he had done, the least she could do was give him his own bed. Besides, how much longer would Steve let her interfere in his life, his routine?
“I know,” Steve said softly, walking back to retrieve the popcorn from the kitchen.
When he sat back down, Rebecca had changed the channel–opting for a comedy to end their night. Steve watched her smile fade slightly and knew what he had to do for it to return. With a smile he reached into the drawer underneath the TV, before sitting next to her. He handed her a white envelope with a cautious smile, while she stared back in confusion.
“What’s this?” She wondered, eying the envelope suspiciously and Steve chuckled.
“A present,” he said.
“What for?” She asked.
“I just wanted to surprise you.” He shrugged.
“But—“
“Just open it, Bec!” Steve interrupted her. He liked giving her things, even if she didn’t understand why she would deserve them.
With a sigh and a small smile playing on her lips, she surrendered and took the envelope from him. Carefully, she opened it and took out the contents. Quietly, she stared at her hands, speechless and confused. In her hands lay two first-class tickets for the musical she had just commented on, the one she wished she could go to. A big part of her wanted to jump for joy, scream and thank him, but another quieter part of her wanted to ask why—why would he spend so much money on her? He had been doing too much for her already. Rebecca didn’t want to appear ungrateful, but she also didn’t want to ask too much of him either.
“You got me tickets?” She questioned lamely, still unsure how to feel about it.
“I saw the announcement last week and just wanted to surprise you,” he explained, wondering if he had pushed it too far. Would she see through him now? Find out what he felt for her? Would she leave? Though he did not have to wonder for too long, as she finally jumped up from her seat and wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing his cheek.
“I really don’t deserve you,” she mumbled, kissing his cheek once more before pulling back with a bright smile on her face. “When are we going?” She asked as she looked back at the tickets, scanning them for a date.
****
The play was amazing—just like she’d hoped it would be. The actors had been at the top of their game, and the soundtrack sounded even better in person. Opening the door of the apartment, Steve then stepped aside to let Rebecca enter first. She smiled up at him, still beaming from the night’s events as she walked past him and quickly removed her heels. A sigh of relief pushed past her lips as she stepped onto the cool floor. Steve chuckled as he followed her in and helped her out of her jacket. His fingers grazed her bare arms and she shivered, feeling goosebumps rise in the wake of his nails. Quickly she moved away from him, needing distance. The night had been perfect, much like a real date and she needed to remind herself that he was her best friend–not her boyfriend.
“I’m putting on pj’s, nightcap after?” She suggested and Steve nodded in agreement before bending to untie his shoes.
He watched her skip to her room and a bright smile pulled at his lips, an effect she continuously appeared to have on him. She had gotten under his skin, and he was wary to think of what would happen once she left. Earlier that week, she had been apartment hunting, though none had felt right to her—he knew she would find something soon enough. Bucky would also come home in a short while, and he would want his room back. Not that he would turn his sister out—Bucky would rather take the couch—but Steve knew Rebecca would have none of that.
Rebecca sighed happily as she stood in front of the mirror to take her makeup off. The smile on her lips did not waver, even as she scolded herself for reading too much into the night. But it really had been perfect. An early dinner filled with laughter and good conversation that never waned. A show that had been everything she had hoped it would be, and a drink in the bar afterwards where she had been forced to stand close in the crowded room. Steve had been the perfect date. A date so secret that he hadn’t even known about it, but it was such a nice fantasy. She’d thoroughly enjoyed it.
By the time she moved into the living room, Steve had also changed his clothes and she smiled as he dropped down on the couch, while she moved towards the kitchen.
“What do you want?” She asked and opened the fridge to stare blankly into the chilled space, uncertain of what she wanted herself.
“There is a bottle of red in the cabinet to your right,” Steve offered and she smiled. She did like the idea of wine. Closing the fridge again, she instead moved around to grab glasses and the bottle, before moving towards the couch, sitting next to him. She was probably a little too close, but she justified it as she poured the wine—she’d scoot over after handing him the glass. And she did, a little. Rebecca knew that it was important to keep some decorum, not wanting to alert him to her feelings. He was her friend and she did not want to make it awkward for them. And awkward it would be if—when—he refused her advances. So some distance was better.
Two glasses later, Rebecca was far less worried about the distance. Her sides hurt from laughing, and she had to lean on him to keep from falling over, while tears slipped from her eyes. She couldn’t think of any man that had even made her laugh quite so much, or quite so loud. Rebecca felt a little drowsy as she finished the wine in her glass and decided that this would be a good time to go to bed. Straightening up again, she glanced at Steve, to find his ears tinged with red. He must have been feeling the alcohol as well, she figured. He caught her eye and smiled, which she returned as she stared into his baby blues just a little longer. Perhaps too long, but she couldn’t look away. Gratitude was overwhelming her, and she tried to think of a way to let him know. She needed to thank him for tonight and these past few months. To give herself a moment to think, she stretched and got up from the couch.
Rebecca informed him that she was going to bed, before bending down and placing her hand on his cheek. She smiled and gently kissed his other cheek. Her lips ended up on the corner of his mouth and though it shocked her, she still lingered longer than she normally would have. Then she stood back up, uncertain of her actions and with a blush creeping down her face and neck, she turned to move around the couch and out of the living room.
“What was that for?” Steve asked before she got very far and he got up from the couch too, following her. Her kiss had shaken him, weakening his resolve to be her friend and it took all his will power not to pull her into his arms.
“A thank you,” she said, her voice a little shaky as she turned back to him.
“For tonight? You don’t ha—”
“For everything you’ve done for me these past few months.” She was quick to interrupt, hoping he would see her shaking hands as an after effect of the wine, or perhaps lack of sleep. If he knew how he made her feel—she turned around again and took a few more steps towards the door; it was within reach now and she was almost out of this situation of her own making.
“I’d do anything for you,” Steve said softly, feeling brave, and he reached forward to take her hand in his—effectively thwarting her escape.
He was warm to the touch, gentle and his skin upon hers was enough to send a bolt of lightning through her body. Did he not understand? She needed distance, to save herself from future embarrassment. She was by no means drunk, but she feared that she would tell him how she felt if he pressed the subject. The perfect evening was a far more pressing motivator than the alcohol could ever be. When he did not release her hand, she turned to face him and glanced down at their hands. A sigh escaped her lips; she knew he’d do anything for her. He always treated her like a princess. Better than anyone ever had, but she wanted more. She wanted all of him, desperately.
“Me too,” she whispered, her thumb softly stroking the back of his hand.
Steve stared at her, her whispered words confusing him. The way she had spoken had sparked a fuse inside of him, and he allowed himself to believe she would mean it the same way he had. He had meant far more than words could ever express, and he really did want her to feel the same. He wished that the sparks he had felt throughout the night were not only in his head. The fear of losing her if he was wrong was strong enough to stall him for a moment, but the urge to take a chance was stronger still. Perhaps fuelled by the wine in his system, he finally made a decision, and with one big stride he closed the distance between them.
She gasped, shocked, though she made no effort to step back. Instead, Rebecca placed her free hand on his chest and stared up into his eyes. His gaze was intense, and her heart beat rapidly in her chest. Then his eyes glanced down at her lips, before returning to her dilated irises. The world seemingly stood still as they stared on, the moment stretching a little longer as they both warred with the doubts in their minds. Then, Steve moved—bending his head down he pressed his lips upon hers, gently. It was a soft kiss, short and hesitant, but Rebecca could feel it all the way to her toes. It was electric and he pulled back way too soon, she thought.
His cheeks were now as red as hers must have been and Rebecca smiled at the sight. He smiled back and she moved her hand off his chest to his neck, pulling him back to her and giving him a much more heated kiss. Steve pulled her impossibly close, his arms tight around her waist, as he tried to show the depth of his feelings in the kiss. And when her fingers moved along the hem of his shirt, touching the small bit of skin they uncovered, he poured even more into it. His hands moved to her ass, while hers roamed his broad back and he grabbed her firmly—pushing her into him. She moaned and he thought he’d lose it. Lowering his hands to her thighs, he picked her up and she wrapped her legs around his waist, their kisses never wavering—and he moved through the door, down the hall and towards his bedroom.

[obligatory recap ask]
**spoilers for subway skirmish and borough of dreams**
@kickmuncher3 and @galfast: ty for your asks, I’ll use them for the next two recaps. this is probably the least efficient way for me to handle this but I want to keep all of these visually consistent dammit.
One of the funniest things about this season of D20 is most if not all of the cast has lived in NYC which manifests as very specific references and in character complaints that you just know come from a place of truth and experience. Which is to say we got a lot of that in these episodes.
Also, this has nothing to do with anything but living in NY update: On Sunday, I saw a man hanging upside-down from a tree--by his feet--and playing the flute. And barely anyone registered it at all. So I really cannot stress enough how much New York is Like That.
Pete opening the fight by blasting a fireball and then telepathically calling out Kingston is--como se dice--a Power Move.
Brennan *immediately* channels the opposite of whatever energy Emily's on and goes right for Ricky's dog to the horror of everyone at the table and his absolute delight. Like, it's a spectral dog but still. Bro. Dog.
Kingston taking the heat metal damage to get Epona to drop him is so raw. But then, for the rest of the fight, he doesn't say a single thing except for his Command spells which is a very different kind of raw.
Question: Is Riz's mom the only good cop that exists in D20?
I know this was an RP ep and I know they knew it was gonna be an RP ep but I wonder what would have happened if they had pretended to cooperate with Epona to get more info. Probably just an extended RP ep that would have segued into this same fight eventually. But I'm curious about what information they let get eaten by a swarm of rats.
Misty's Irresistible Dance spell is very clutch.
The gators from the last fight are back in the form of Kug's summons and one of them still has a grudge against Misty. Misty is all, "send me your resume!" because she appreciates the spunk. I was starting a sentence about what the hell play this sentient gator is going to be in but as soon as I hypothetically asked it my brain was like, "Peter Pan. Next question."
Y'all, this really was Kug's fight. Between calling the roaches, crocs, and gators, channeling Moonshine to call lightning, and killing Epona within 40 mins of the ep, he truly was on fire. Good for him. He also turns into a bear but specifically a bear that would have escaped from the zoo. It's the little details that make this show great.
Brennan putting his foot down on tying rats together not being acrobatics is the eternal DM mood.
Back to Epona for a second, do we think she was working for Robert directly? Someone connected to him? Something else? When her shadow split after Ricky's attack was that meaningful or just flavor? Where did that badge come from? Has it always existed? What does destroying it mean? It didn't seem to help. The bad cop ghosts were still around, just no one could control them at that point. If they had yoinked that badge, could they have had a summoning item that hey could use? Or is it bad karma to use something like that? Is it still bad if you're forcing the bad cops to do good stuff? Did Brennan anticipate this or is the Coach Daybreak 2: Electric Boogaloo? Lots of questions.
Misty's cutting words to the cop (saving Ricky) making the Law and Order "DUN DUN" noise is great.
Emily ends up not needing to roll to make rat nunchucks because her health goes low enough that her magic ring activates but I feel like she low key wanted rat nunchucks.
Wild that Kingston went down for just long enough for it to be cinematic before being revived by Misty ("Get up, old man,")
Also wild that this whole fight only took about 45 seconds of in game time. It makes sense if you think about it the way you would a movie and that's how most D&D fights are but that's so much play time for so little game time and it hit me this ep because I was actually keeping track of rounds.
Anyway, I have not mentioned up until this point that the whole crux of this fight is to last long enough for Alejandro to roll high enough to summon the train to Nod but, long story short, Pizza Rat shows up to save the day. Does that make more sense in context? Marginally.
I like that the train to Nod shows up on the wrong side of the tracks. Like I said, man. Details.
Oh and to my above point about the cast making comments about NY as people who have lived in NY, I loved Brennan looking directly at the camera when he was going off on people who just stand at the door like idiots while you're trying to get in and then Siobhan pokes like half her head into frame so she can also stare directly into the camera. Mood.
When Ally said Pete shoots Kingston I half believed it for a good couple of seconds. I was right there with Lou.
OK, so I don't know how many of you have watched Sharkboy and Lavagirl (and, if you haven't feel free to skip this bullet) but no movie has brought me more enjoyment overall than SB&LG. Not because it's good because it's not. But it's so insane that it's amazing. It's right in the sweet spot. I always say, if it was any better, it would be Spy Kids 3 and, therefore, unwatchable (SK 1 + 2 are dope as hell though, for the record). I bring it up because the way Brennan describes Nod reminds me a lot of Drool in SB&LG. Like, the rollercoaster subway car def could be in the same universe as the Train of Thought. This is all to say that I think Brennan could have written a version of SB&LG that was better without being worse. Idk if that comes across as complimentary, but it is, and to both parties actually.
From the way Nod (the kid) is being framed (in this ep and the next) I know we're not supposed to mistrust him but, put in that situation, there is no way I would trust the gray faced, black eyed, creepily gliding dream child.
Post fight, Kingston wants to offer an apology for what he said about Pete and Nod wants to apologize for putting Pete in his current situation. Also, the group decides to be more open in general. Kug, as most of us guessed, got beauty and the beasted for white collar crime by his business partner (Gabby) who is Esther's mom and a witch (also, Ricky thinks his crush on Esther is a secret which is just adorable and completely incorrect).
Brennan cuts sharing time off because this is the combat episode dammit! Save it for next session. But, because I'm behind, next session is now! Let's get into The Borough of Dreams.
Misty, as a faerie, is instinctively mistrustful of vising other magical worlds and eating the food or taking things at face value. I love that she's playing a character where she can ask these questions and not be meta-gaming because I had some of the same concerns.
Wildly, WALLY walks out of the train as he just happened to be on it (as conductor) at the time. Kug bursts out with the fact that he's his dad and Wally takes this to mean that Rat Jesus is his bio dad but, even after being left alone for so many years, he claims Bruce as his real dad. He's wrong but he's sweet.
"I thought you were mad at me." Brennan, you didn't have to do that.
Murph clearly trying to not accidentally call Wally a piece of shit because that's his go to Kug way to describe things is so funny.
"We could turn me into a rat." WALLY
Kingston and Misty looking at each other like, "These absolute children," while Pete and Soph are making Brittney Spears references.
So we find out what all of the magic stuff they picked up does. Misty's mirror can see invisibility. Pete's grill helps with persuasion. The thousand hour energy makes you immune to sleep for 42 days(!) The bagel can be used for divination or to essentially kill a person but spread their essence throughout the universe  (which low key sounds like a sacrifice someone might make to help cancel the spread of say an undead presence or a money virus).
I want Ricky and Wally to be friends forever.
Kingston's lack of connection to the dream world is so sad. Like, he's no nonsense but he's like NO NONSENSE. Like no nonsense possible. So he's just walking around like Eddie Valiant in Toontown.
And, at the same time, the rest of the party is doing the MOST nonsense. Mary Poppins-ing into the sky. Misty is making out with the moon. Wild.
SOBER SALAD
Ally drops the ketamine on the tomatoes line and Brennan fully breaks
Very sweet for Pete to bring Kingston a salad, even though that's such a random food to just have in your pocket(???). Why does salad keep coming up on this show? One more time and it's officially a motif.
So the dream world basically works on Sharkboy and Lavagirl/Xanth/Phantom Tollbooth/Wonderland/Toontown logic. If you've seen/read any of those, you basically have it down.
"Only people with Sprint have service."/"Oh, amazing!" Brennan threw that softball out for anyone who wanted it and Emily, as usual, hit it out of the park.
Brennan very clearly knows his NY history. The mob boss (lucky Luciano, no not that one) that he mentioned during the sleeping with the fishes bit is a real dude and basically the dude who brought organized crime to the US (in the form we know it now).
Ricky and the mints. Lord.
Anyway, the one item I didn't mention earlier is the holy grail detergent which can literally clean souls. Which sounds mighty interesting considering some of the other stuff that's come up this campaign.
(Also, I wonder if you could use the bagel as spell components since it contains everything in the universe in microcosm).
I can't believe Pete was the one saying, "At least eat before you shotgun that 1000 hour energy." By the by, the 42 hour span of the energy drink makes me suspicious. Is that just for humor (and accurate math) or it this a Chekov's Gun kind of an item indicating some kind of time jump at some point? Ricky drinks it later in this ep so, if there's a clock attached to that, it's ticking. I'm prob reading into this but I assume if you're still reading these, this is what you're here for.
Ally making sawing motions before being told an egg creme has nothing to do with eggs and is in fact a drink.
Pete! OK, so Pete has made some good steps in this ep, starting with promising to start reining in the drug usage. Later he works on his magic and also gets over Priya. This is the most endeared I've been to him all season. Especially his, "I try to do a good job," line. I felt that.
"It's still open to you." Aw.
Brennan clearly saw the chance for a lore drop this ep and boy did it drop. Let's run through the highlights.
Nod dumped all this on Pete the way they did because it's super super hard to contact a Vox Phantasmus beforehand due the the natural, waking world inclination to brush off dreams. You have to have the job before you can talk to the boss. Cruddy system but that's how it goes.
When Sophie said the thing about Robert Moses creating spaces that can't be accessed she meant by magic but it's an interesting way to phrase it because the irl Robert Moses is known for (allegedly, but like, it tracks) trying to keep black people out of certain spaces.
Robert Moses sold his soul to Hell and Faerie which is why he's still alive it seems. No one wants to collect on his soul and anger the other party.
Whoever predicted that the golden door for Emma Laz's poem was the rectangle from episode one, collect your prize because it's confirmed in this ep.
We learn about the ephemeral axiom which basically says, a dream can be all things but once it manifests, it's a single thing. (you might even say, "it is what it is".)
So another big thing we learn is that if a dream gets so big that manifesting them in the real world would break the game, it's called a Paragon. There are four total: Heaven, Hell, Faerie, and The American Dream. (Wild that The American Dream is the only country specific one that exists. Like, I rep my home team of course but the U.S. is a pretty latecomer to the country party. You'd think someone else might have gotten Paragon status at some point.)
"Was one of them the Grand Canyon?"
Anyway, dragging the American Dream into the waking world would fix the American Dream to mean one thing--I assume making tons of money if Robert Moses has his way. I'll admit, I was a  little fuzzy on the mechanics of this on my first watch-through because pulling the American Dream into the real world sounds like it should be a good thing. But I think, at the most basic level, it's a matter of you shouldn't put magic that shouldn't be in a box in a box. I'm still wondering about the exact implications for the waking world if he succeeds though. Like, how would that manifest? Would everyone suddenly become money hungry (lol, how would you tell)? Would people still want what they want but the American Dream would just be understood to mean making stacks and none of the good Superman-y stuff?
"It's not Protestant work ethic is it?"
Robert Moses is undead and can't get into Nod, so those are good things to note.
I was so ready for Wally is get dispelled and for him to be a figment of Kug’s imagination or a dream or something. I braced myself so much. I was ready to set up a firing squad for Brennan for doing that to Kug.
Who tipped the bugsters off to where Pete was gonna be? As far as I can tell, the only people that knew were the gang plus Alejandro and Esther. Maybe someone was scrying on them and that’s what the roll Zac failed during the wedding ep was.
As soon as Brennan mentions locking the door, Ally immediately makes the connection and goes, "Key to the city." Nod "locks" the American Dream and gets rid of the lock which seems to mean the American Dream is temporarily unavailable. Which seems not good and like it's gonna have collateral damage for sure but I guess you bad is a matter of degrees and Robert getting in would be worse. But still, imagine your immigration papers get declined because some random kid decided to close down the American Dream for a couple of days.
So, we get some backstory of Misty. She apparently just was straight up not having a good time in Faerie so she stole Titania's shoes (allowing her to be in iron-filled NYC without triggering her fairy vulnerability) and peaced out.
"She's gonna kill you."/"Only if she can get here and I have her Goddamn shoes." (**A million airhorns in the distance**)
I love that Emily is still on the souls thing. Emily doesn't believe in Occam's Razor. In fact, I'd like to propose a corollary called the Axford Axiom: The coolest path between two points probably isn't the correct one, but it should be! I want her to run a campaign so bad so I can see her be in a game where her crazy endgame is what's going on because she's the one who wrote it.
Misty: Let's go to hell!
So much like a videogame, the map has opened up and we have three places to check out. The former locations in the dream world of Faerie (Carnagie Hall), Heaven (JFK airport), and Hell (where do you think? Hell's Kitchen). The gang splits up to look for clues (and drinks, in Misty's case). Actually, make that four places: Pete goes to the Met Museum of Memories to basically Avatar mind meld with the other Voxes and get a handle on his magic to a degree (thank God--Nod?). We'll take these in order of appearance, which means we're off to Hell with Kug and Ricky (plus Ox and Wally).
(Focus on the Pizza, baby!)
At first I wanted Ricky, the good boy, to go to Heaven, but the idea of a firefighter in Hell also has appeal.
Re The rat holding his guts: Gross.
Ricky holding his axe like a cell phone.
So we and Kug learn that the rat-spell that was cast on him wasn't actually a rat-spell. It was a spell that would make his outsides reflect his insides and his insides happened to suck. I'm wondering if that means that it's a static spell that reflects his outsides at the time it was cast and it would need to be recast to reflect any moral progress made or if it will just revert him once he's made enough progress.
I'm also wondering (partially bc one of my players asked to do this last session) can a Druid wildshape into a person? I feel like no, but like, did any of you ever read Animorphs? You know how in book 1 Tobias gets stuck as a red-tailed-hawk but then later her gets his morphing ability back and then he can turn back into his human form for 2 hours at a time? What if Kug just started doing that? Just being a rat who is sometimes a dude.
They also go to the statue of liberty (which has a French accent, natch) who shows them that there's, like, a money/greed virus infecting the Dreaming and the American Dream. Ricky smells undeath again. They think vampires. That's plausible but I'm not sure.
OK, Heaven.
WHOOOO, strap in y'all
(Sidenote: I wonder what would have happened if Soph hadn't chose to go to heaven. I feel like she could have easily run into you know who in hell had she chose to go there, but I'm getting ahead of myself).
Brennan actually tries to lead Emily into the thinking about Dale mindset but Emily, having reached a note of closure in Soph's character arc, pushes back on that.
honeyougotastormcoming.gif
Brennan, about to wreck her entire life: Cool.
I and the cast keep saying heaven a lot but it's like an all roads lead to Rome situation. It's heaven, Valhalla, Elysium, nirvana. Like, whatever Good Place you believe in. It's the Good Place.
Sophie, upon being told that if she jumps into the fight at the Pearly Gates she knows nothing about, she might literally die: And what about it?
Emily's face when Brennan says, "And you see Dale," is so much. You can see the entire range of human emotion in her eyes in that moment.
Sidenote: I wonder how much of her backstory Emily planned and how much Brennan dropped on her. Like, she knew Isabella was part of her backstory obv. Did Brennan come up with all of this whole-cloth or did she say she wanted there to be something supernatural and and let him fill in the details. Very curious about the collaborative process.
When Dale's character art comes up, it says "Sophie's Angel" for Dale's descriptor so where I thought we were going was that Dale was Sophie's Guardian Angel who wasn't supposed to be romantically involved with her and the reason he was gone is that he was forcibly brought back to heaven. But that may be because I recently watched this.
Dale, is upsettingly sweet with Sophie, calls her "sweetie" the entire time they're together, fights a ton of angels to get to her, and says he got her text message. Emily is about to cry. *I'm* about to cry. I'm sure the only reason Brennan isn't fistpumping is because he needs to stay in character.
Dale gives this cryptic piece of advice before he is dragged off by angel guards: When you get to the top, I know what it'll seem like, but there is someone there.
Emily, of course: I fight the angels.
The angels, hilariously, don't take it personally that she's fighting them--and very well, but not well enough to beat a nat 20. Sometimes the dice are spooky in tune with the story.
"He's got a job to do here. Who's gonna watch the deer?"
Dale also tells Soph to tell Jackson he said hi which is interesting to say the least.
Emily gets two very dope lines in a row:
"Let me hold your hand through this Alejandro."
"I'm gonna kill her. And I don't think she's going to the great big airport in Brooklyn."
That's it for her for now, but let's put a pin in that for now and come back to it after we check in with the others.
Siobhan and Kingston are at the former spot of Faerie, the Glamour Bar.
Zac jokingly (I think) guessing Dr. Doolittle as the thing Siobhan can't remember when she says Eliza Doolittle is so funny.
Also, her terrible cockney British accent on top of her actual British accent is great.
I love that the two actual Real Adults are the ones who go and get wasted mid-mission.
Brennan introduces "Bobby Goodfellow" and it takes Siobhan exactly four seconds after Brennan finishes the word "Goodfellow" to be like, "It's Puck." She knew and she knew her character would know it and she hardcore pounced.
I meant to mention this before but it's super funny that Kingston has been around the magical block but there's still so much he doesn't know. He was surprised by a bunch of stuff in this ep that I'd think he would know about (like the Midsummer's faeries being real) but nah. He's like, "This is my specific brand of magic nonsense. That's what I know about. I don't mess around with any of *that* stuff. I stay in my lane. I stay in my city."
Ty Brennan for teaching me how to pronounce sláinte. This is the first time I'm hearing it out loud.
I love his Puck voice. Like, the little British street urchin voice.
No big surprise, Puck sent the mirror on the order of Oberon and Titania (who are not back together but are knocking boots according to him).
Puck warns Misty, "The world of mortals is not long for this world," and follows it up with a seemingly sincere, "Come home. We miss you," which is an interesting thing to say after announcing that Titania is gunning for her. Who is this we, Puck? Your boss wants to bodyslam her!
Also, what do the faeries know that they're not saying? All of them in the bar seemed to know something was off but none of them said anything and Puck didn't elaborate.
I've always liked the trope of the person from the otherworldly, magical or super advanced being like, "Idk what you're talking about. Humans are great!" because it's the opposite of the snooty elf/vulcan/whatever trope that I really can't stand. Misty showed shades of that in this conversation but I feel like there's still so much that we're missing in her backstory and I wanna know what it is.
(Also, this is prob just me being a little pepe silvia but I would be very unsurprised if Misty got an opportunity to betray the party at some point. Don't @ me. It's just something I could see myself offering to a player for the drama of it all).
Anyway, Kingston is extremely uncomfortable in the bar and makes a hasty exit so let's go to the museum with Pete and Nod.
Ally jumps onto the, "Suggested donations are for suckers" train w/ Siobhan.
Turns out, Pete f'd up Robert up so much that he has kind of a brain link with him. I wonder how long that's gonna last.
Pete gets proficiency in arcana and a choice between lesseing wild magic surges or gaining some control over them (2 wild magic rolls on a fail and ally gets to choose which effect takes place). Obv the second one is more fun rp-wise so that's what Ally picks.
It's a memory museum so OF COURSE he gets a chance to look at the memories of the rest of the party. But it's getting late so he only has a chance to check on one person's memories. He, naturally, picks Kingston. Makes perfect sense from an RP perspective but out of character I feel like Misty is the most closed book of the party.
Pete sees Kingston's life from his childhood to the present (Brennan puts Lou on the spot to do some improv...I mean beyond the improv they're already doing) and it's about what you would expect based on what we know about Kingston but it's very beautifully described (sidenote: did any of y'all ever watch the life and times of juniper lee? where she can't leave the city bc she's like the buffy of that world? I really felt shades of that, except more self imposed).
During that montage, a character is like, "You could make hundreds of millions of dollars--I mean, I'm exaggerating," (s/t like that) and I'm not gonna go back and check but I feel like Brennan (or maybe Lou) made almost exactly the same comment in the first ep of this season in a very similar context.
Oh, also, Kingston gets dubbed Vox Populi by a dragon on Bleecker Street in case you were wondering about logistics.
Again, Nod says that inviting Liz into his life was basically dooming Liz to be stuck dealing with the Unsleeping City but I feel like unless you have a Vox position or something similar you should be able to, like, opt out. So what you need to ignore some weird stuff day to day? May I direct you to my earlier anecdote about the flute dude in the tree. New Yorkers are good at that. And if she moved away, would it even be an issue?
Actually, that raises another question. Is NY the only place where magic is happening? It can't be because Santa is doing his thing at the North Pole. And NY has the Umbral Arcana which shields magic from muggles. Does that mean that elsewhere, magic just isn't hidden? I'm guessing that works because the bulk of magical happenings are happening in NY. Which, again, if so, couldn't Liz just move if she really wanted to? Or is she actually being *kept* there?
Ahhhhh, that argument scene with Kingston and Liz. Ow.
Robert's subconscious is heckling Kingston's memories the entire time.
The party gets back together, Pete immediately lets Kingston know he was memory spying on him and hugs him (while Misty is drunk a singing over him). Their rift literally caused a kind of rift in NYC which is now healed (which causes Sophie to see the Unsleeping City/Dreaming Yin-Yang sign over their heads).
Ricky drinks the 1000 hr energy so start the clock I guess.
Misty, upon hearing that Dale is dead basically does that John Mulaney bit: Hey, do you want me to kill that guy for you? Because it sounds like [s]he sucks and I will totally kill that guy for you.
It's the day of Priya's art show which I totally forgot was happening. Before that, Sophie finally goes to see her brother and we can return back to that pin I mentioned earlier.
(Also, it’s the 20th which means we’re getting really close to Christmas)
He says that their family got mixed up with the Confettis and they've been helping to launder magical items that Confetti is paying some rep from Hell (an associate of Robert's).
And by, "Some rep from hell," I mean Isabella Infierno specifically.
Emily, hilariously riffs for a while about how small it was of her to call Isabella a succubus even though she clearly knows at this point that Isabella is some kind of demon. I mean...Infierno. Come on.
Sidenote: Which demon actually trying to be subtle would pick the last name Infierno? You wanna blow your cover for the aesthetic that bad?
Emily goes, "Oh my (beat) Nod," which I think is the exact way she dropped the first, "Oh Melora," in one of the first eps of Naddpod.
Anyway, it turns out that Soph's family knew that Isabella was gunning for Dale (he was getting close to realizing something shady was going on) and, while they didn't call the shot, they let it happen.
Oh! He also says Dale was a chosen one from "some monastery" which, of course, fits in with Dale's comment about saying hi to Jackson. Now I'm wondering if his other comment--about there seeming like there's nothing at the top--is about whatever chosen one test he had to take to get the position to begin with. And maybe he was giving a clue to Sophie so that when she takes it, she'll for sure pass and get whatever dope powers or weapons or privileges come with the position.
"The only reason I'm not going to go after you right now is because I'm not organized enough to give you the fucking revenge you deserve." Soph is cold as ice after hearing about what her family did.
"Maybe you should have said that to Isabella before she went after me." Another mic drop line from Emily. This really was her episode. You can really see Emily channeling hr genuine emotional reactions into her character.
La Gran Gata shows up to let Soph know she has her back to hunt down Isabella. The only other warlocks really seen played are Fjord on CritRole and Leiland on Bloodkeep so it's wild to see a character with such a chill relationship with their patron.
So, Priya's art show. They show up (to a distressingly unsafe building from Ricky's perspective) and it turns out, not only is it performance art (the worst kind) Pete *is* the art.
"I present to all of you: cruelty, a exploration of a relationship. Peter, take my hand."
major barf.
Pete goes OFF
Kingston: Picasso is art, this is bullshit!
Siobhan: Her last name is Danger? I hate this bitch.
Pete gets over Priya instantly which totally tracks because, like I said, barf.
Sophie stealing Ricky's thing and rooftop jumping. Zac narrows his eyes when she says that.
I love Isabella's title card. It says, "Literal Succubus". It reminds me of the funniest scene in Bedazzled when the Devil (Liz Hurley) gives Brendan Frasier her business card and it just says, "The Devil".
But she's here and she's here to fight! I'm so excited for this one y'all! Unsafe building. Lots of civilians. Sophie (and Emily) going totally feral. I haven’t looked forward to a fight this much since Adaine went for Aelwen. Let's gooooo!

My Testimony: How Jesus saved my life (multiple times)
I was born and raised in a religious family (notably Catholic). Growing up I went to mass every Sunday, believing in God, Jesus, and the Virgin Mary (not really as much); or so I thought I did. In my middle school and high school years, I was like everyone else. I thought that everything was fine and that there was nothing wrong with the things I did (like lying, stealing things behind my parents’ back, cussing, saying rude things behind my parents’ back when they told me things I didn’t like.)
Though I didn’t realize somewhere down the line; things were about to change for me and my family. 2011 was the year that my grandma died and it affected everyone in my family, including my mom. Life hasn’t been the same for her. Once a happy soul eager to have people around, now is always suspicious of others, not wanting to go out or visit anyone, claiming people are out to get her. I didn’t understand much of what was happening. I just simply thought my mom was crazy. But at the same time, I wondered why God let this happen? Again, I didn’t thought much of it, I simply did more things things that were considering wrong in God’s eyes (like lying to my mom that my aunt called me and cursed my mom when I only called a local gamestop store to get a game I wanted, looking up porn due to a dare from a so-called “friend” and looking up fetish art)
In high school I dated this japanese-american guy who was an atheist, he was the one who proposed to me. At the time, I didn’t know much about what love was. It wasn’t until my parents found and got angry, not for the fact he was an atheist, but for the fact that I was texting him many times in class and it raised the price on the phone bill. My dad furiously told me to end the relationship immediately. I was really upset about it, yet I did as I was told. It hurt my now ex boyfriend and I was mad at what my parent’s said to me. So what I did was told him to just pretend to be friends but to keep the relationship a secret. It worked for only a month until my now ex told me that what I was doing was wrong to lie to my parent’s behind their backs. I didn’t understand at first until he wanted to end our relationship. Without question, I did what he told me and again I was upset. Little did I know that Jesus was doing me a favor. Had he not intervene, I would have ended up a homeless teen mom.
After breaking ties with the Catholic Church (due to my mom’s irrational, mental instability), my dad sought help elsewhere. We went to this Christian Church that supposedly teaches from the Bible but something about it was missing. My dad told me that he felt that there was something wrong in that church. Was it due to the fact it held church services on Sunday instead of the seventh day (Saturday) as the Bible said? Again, I didin’t think much of it. I went to this “revival”, not because I wanted to look for Christ, but for worldly pleasures.
Come 2014, and my dad was searching something on the TV (something to watch or perhaps something related to the Bible). That wasn’t until He found a channel called “El Evangelio Eterno” (in English: The Everlasting Gospel). Namely this Pastor (who’s the head pastor of this ministry) was preaching something that none of us has ever heard, the three angels’ message.
REVELATION 14:6-12
6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,                                                                         7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.                                                                                  8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. 9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:                                                                                        11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.                                                         12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
From then on, my dad wanted to know more of what they were preaching and that’s when they announced that they were opening a church a few miles away to where we live. The first one who went there was my dad. I didn’t pay that much attention to my dad when he watched the channel nor what they were saying or teaching. But one day (it was a Saturday), out of curiousity, I asked my dad if I wanted to come with him and he said yes. From there I always went with him to church, but at the same time, I was missing something. I learned about all the prophecies of the end times, that Jesus was coming real soon, about God’s real day of rest (Saturday), learned about the health reform that God can heal us, not just spiritually, but also from our physical illnesses too. I learned all these things, yet something was still missing. In September 2, 2017, our pastor preached to us (in a sermon of the end times) that Donald Trump signed the executive order to make Sunday, National Day of Prayer as a response to for the victims of hurricane Harvey.
At that moment, I was scared. I felt my heart racing. I thought to myself, “If I don’t get baptized soon, I might get left behind and receive the mark of the beast”. So I was one of the few people that got baptized that day, and that’s when I gave my life to Jesus. I studied more of God’s word, made a YouTube Channel to teach end-time prophecies, used my old social media accounts to spread the gospel (or so I thought I did) and I let go some of the things that I used to like (like stealing, secular music, looking up things that were not centered around God, video games [mostly because I was addicted to them and were the main reason I lied to my mom to get me a game]) and I thought I was saved. 2 years went by, I gave gospel tracts (but only at the front door because I was a little bit shy on what to say), and made posters that show the pagan origins of every holiday celebrated (except for thanksgiving).
Every Sabbath became dull, and everytime a sermon on end time prophecy is preached, I always listen yet feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit and I end up crying because I felt like I haven’t done much for the Lord. Everyday I always had a nagging feeling inside that something was wrong. It was until then I started developing a small legalistic mindset (meaning that if I didn’t do enough of what I was taught, I wasn’t gonna make it. Let me tell you, it affected my character greatly. I tried confronting people (including my old church friends) that what they were believing in was wrong and I used Scripture to convince them that they were wrong (instead of using it in a correct and humble manner) and they would fight back and I couldn’t be able to respond either because I didn’t know much of something or I didn’t want to risk embarassing myself. I became self righteous, but in the inside (I was good at masking my character) I started watching conspiracy videos and things involving the New World Order and the Illuminati and thought that God wanted me to tell people about it. I only told a few people about it, little by little, with a little bit of bible prophecy, yet I was still scared.
Overtime, I was interested in learning a little bit about the health reform that I signed up to be a medical missionary, so I can learn how God can heal people physically and spiritually (like how Jesus preached and healed people as well). I remember signing up and was super exciting about it. It was very interesting to learn at first, but just like church, it became very dull. Along with my legalistic mindset, I developed some minor depression, anxieties, which didn’t help that I suffer from a mild case of ADHD (a mental disorder I had since birth).
These things filled my soul with even more but I didn’t want to admit it. Come May 24, 2019, I went to this church retreat center in the mountain, where they were going to do seminars on the art of apologetics. The third day, I was there and I got up early to attend church service in the main audience hall. I didn’t remember much about what the pastor was preaching but I remember hearing something along the lines of the pastor saying, “God has given us all this light to share to the world” “What exactly are we doing with that light?” The sermon hit me hard that day and my anxieties rised up again and I felt extreme fear inside, that God didn’t want me anymore because I didn’t do enough. After the service ended, a sister from the service stopped me as I was leaving. She told me, “What is wrong? Why were you crying?” I told her my problems and I mentioned to her that I haven’t brought a soul to Christ for 2 years and felt like I wasn’t good enough. She responded kindly with: “Everyone in the church feels like that, including myself. That’s why we come to learn how to do these things. God knows your heart, and knows that you want to serve Him, but you just have to be patient and He will let you know when it’s the right time to do it. You don’t have to do everything at once because God didn’t call you to do any of that. The reason is that you’re not completely ready yet and He is still teaching you His word. He won’t let you carry more than you can handle. Just keep your eyes on Him and you’ll be fine.” I listened to her and thanked her.
The last thing I remember I ran to my cabin and I went down on my knees crying with all my heart, “Thank you God, Thank Jesus, Thank you for saving me, for sending me this sister to comfort me. If it wasn’t for you, I would have called it quits. Forgive me Lord, for losing sight of why I am here. Forgive me for having this legalistic mindset, for being decieved to think that works saved me when you did it all for me through the sacrifice of your only Begotten Son. If I have to wait 5, 10, or even 20 years for me to be where you want me to be Lord, I’ll wait. All I ask is to never let you go and to never lose sight of you.” After that, I felt like the weight of my chest was lifted off. I understood God’s grace and mercy on someone like me. A 23-year-old woman with ADHD, a quirky sense of humor, artistic talent, yet always tries her best to love others. Jesus saved my life many times in my past, even now. All because He loved me enough to die for not only for me but for you who’s reading this.
That’s right, He loves you also. He loves you enough that He died so that you and I could be free from your sins and reconnect with God. All it takes to turn away from your sinful lifestyle (whether it be drugs, prostitution, masturbation, homosexuality, theft, hatred, alcoholism, addiction of any kind), and learn to live for Jesus. <3
JOHN 3:16-20
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.            17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.                                                                                           19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither* cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.                                                                       21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Pokémon Solar Light & Lunar Dark Review
Tumblr media
Intro:
The game starts in Soltree Town in the players room. The player is sitting in front of his/her TV and is watching a battle between two Pokémon trainers. Your mother comes in and tells you that your best friend, Rodney, is waiting for you downstairs to get your first Pokemon from Prof. Pinewood. You walk to the lab with Rodney and the Professor lets you choose one of three Pokemon. After choosing your starter, Rodney runs out of the lab. The Professor tells you about a young girl named Keira, who is getting the last Pokémon, but it seems that she has forgotten it. After finding Keira in Mossy Town her mother tells you to go back to your house, because your mother has a gift for you. Back in Soltree Town you receive the PokéCom and the Running Shoes from your parents.
From then on, the player will set off on adventures through the Rikoto region. Along the way, the player, Rodney, and Keira will battle eight Gym Leaders, while trying to complete the Pokédex. After managing to obtain all eight Badges, the player will head to the Pokémon League to battle the Elite Four and the Champion.
How to Play:
Download and extract this file to the folder of your choice. If you don’t have a program to unzip files, I recommend Peazip, which is safe and works well. Once extracted, double “Game.exe” to play.
Story:
Tumblr media
The story progresses like a main series game’s plot. It’s notably most similar to RSE/ORAS, because there are two evil teams present: Team Solar and Team Lunar. They’re racing to find specific stones to revive and control their respective legendary of interest. Unfortunately, the climax of their role in the story is pretty disappointing to me, but I won’t say any further so not to spoil you. Aside from the villains, you have your usual tree-based professor, a few rivals, and your eight gym leaders. There’s also a mega evolution specialist, who battles in her castle, and is portrayed as unofficial gym leader. I especially liked this detail.
The characters are just okay, and dialogue can be a little jumbled at time. I like that you have three rivals rather than one, but they’re not very well fleshed out. Each has a gimmick, but not much personality past that. The gym leaders were also okay, but not overly memorable. The only honorable mention is Jax of the Elite Four, who I believe should have been the champion of the game.
There are some adult themes present in the story, but I don’t mean this in an explicit sort of way. Rather, the game addresses adult issues you’d find in the real world. For example, to use the taxi service in Rustbolt City, you need to battle their boss to convince him to pay his workers more, as they’re on strike at the time. You are also asked to steal for a robber at one point during a quest, which is pretty neat.
Overall, the plot and characters weren’t too impressive, but they weren’t terrible, either. There was a good foundation for both that was lost along the way, it seems. However, the story and characters are still serviceable and fulfill their overarching role.
Score: 7/10
Pokemon:
Tumblr media
In this game, there are Fakemon instead of Pokemon, and this can be seen as either good or a bad. While the sprite work for the Fakemon grew on me, some are heavily based on already existing Pokemon. Also, some Pokemon don’t have the highest design quality. Lastly, many of the better Fakemon don’t evolve until they’re pretty high leveled, anywhere from the high 30s to the low 50s, kind of like in Gen 5. This can be seen either as a good or a bad thing, I suppose.
Luckily, there’s a lot of good things about the Fakemon too. First is the sheer amount of them: there are 358 Fakemon to choose from, which is more original Pokemon than have ever been put into a new game at once. This gives you a huge selection to choose from, so no two people will ever have the same team. The downside of this is it’s hard to keep track of them all. However, there are some great ones to choose from, whose movepools and abilities have been handpicked with care.
The original moves made for this game are also a nice touch. One that stood out to me is Thunder Strike, which is a nice middling electric move that’s more powerful than Thunder Shock, but less powerful than Thunderbolt.
I also absolutely love that your first party Pokemon walks with you. This is a feature that really should be brought back in main series games, and the fact that they took the time to draw all 358 original Fakemon (and each shiny form!) as walking companions is very impressive.
Score: 8/10
Gameplay:
Tumblr media
In terms of difficulty, this game is very middling. It’s not too easy or hard. If you battle all the trainers and a good portion of wild Pokemon during your journey, gym leaders won’t be overly difficult. However, grinding in this game can be difficult without the presence of the speed button, so keep this in mind when you use a repel or skipping trainer battles.
One of my favorite attributes in a fan game is a lack of HMs, and I was pleasantly surprised that this game replaced HMs with key items. This opens up a fifth slot in your party; no HM slaves needed!
The gameplay in SLLD (Solar Light & Lunar Dark) is brought to life through its attention to detail in many areas. I’d say you can spend up to two hours in almost every town and its surrounding area, just doing quests, finding hidden items, and talking to NPCs without getting bored. There are so many places to explore, each with a completely different set of Pokemon.
My biggest grip in this area is the length of space between towns. The worst example of this is the journey between Waytide City and Coralite Town. In the space between them, there is Route 9, then Goopool Swamp, then Route 10A, then Rainbow Reef, then Route 10B, then finally Coralite Town. There is one single player to heal your Pokemon in this entire stretch, and if you don’t bring a ton of healing items and repels, there’s no way you’ll make it the whole way continuously. There’s also a ton of trainers on every route, too many in my opinion, and if you don’t battle them all, you’re destined to be underleveled for gym battles.
Score: 8.5/10
Art/Music:
Tumblr media
The overworld art is well done, mostly in Gen 5 style. I haven’t seen art like this in another fan game yet, so props for that.
Original music can be found in about 80% of the game, and is generally well-composed. I rarely found myself listening to other music while playing the game. It’s very electronic, and comparable to Gen 5, but I actually like this soundtrack better than the Unova one. This brought me to wonder: why is such a common track, the wild battle music, from Sinnoh when almost all other music is original? This also goes for the Pokemon Center and a few other themes. My best guess is that composing those tracks would have taken a lot of time.
In terms of character art, most of it is solid. However, the female player character is obviously heavily inspired by Lyra from HGSS. The sprite isn’t bad per say, but it is very obvious. On the other hand, the male player character looks very original.
There are a few visual/sound errors that I would fix. First, the selection highlight isn’t apparent enough. This may seem minor, but this can be the difference between winning a battle or losing if you accidentally switch in the wrong Pokemon. Additionally, both the sound for stat rising and falling is the same- it always sounds like your stat is going up. There are also a couple of Pokemon missing their cries when sent into battle.
Score: 8.5/10
Misc:
The fan content for this game is pretty great. There’s a very active discord channel, and a pretty up-to-date, accurate wiki.
Overall:
One stand-out quality of this game is the sheer amount of content it contains. Before I mentioned the amount of Pokemon created, and this goes for the size of the map as well. There are more towns and areas of interest in this game than any individual region, and as a result you can get in a huge amount of playtime. I ended my run-through with almost 30 hours. However, the downside to inserting a massive amount of content into anything can make the issue of quality control. While the quality of most things in this game is above average, some things did suffer a bit. For example, there are so many routes and areas, it probably was impossible to compose music for all of them. As a result, the Surf and Bike theme are both the cheesy Pokemon Essentials themes.
On the topic of glitches: unfortunately, there are a handful of them. Most aren’t game breaking, but the one that stood out to me is the fishing contest one. When you are warped to the fishing contest, you’re trapped inside the building’s roof instead of in front of the building. As a result, you have to open your menu and quit the contest, automatically putting you in last place. Another is in the Subhail Icecaps towards the end of the game. The game can barely handle surfing in this area, and constantly stalls, almost crashing whenever you surf.
Overall, I would recommend this game to almost any Pokemon lover. I’d especially recommend this one for Unova lovers, as this game is a fresh new adventure quite reminiscent of that region. If you’re looking for a traditional Pokemon game with Fakemon in it, this game should be a winner for you.
Final Score: 8.5/10

Supergirl recap: Red Daughter tries to turn Kara into Dead Daughter
Tumblr media
Supergirl’s penultimate episode finds our heroes embarking on different missions, all of which are presumably racing toward the same end goal in next week’s finale.
Let’s start with Lena, who’s such a boss that she bought her mother’s privately owned prison so Lillian could work on extracting Harun-El from James. To ensure her compliance, Lena poisons her and gives her a day to earn the antidote. She also slaps a baby Truth Seeker on her mother’s arm.
“Couldn’t you just waterboard me like a normal person?” Lillian asks, but she also confesses that she paid $14,000 to make Lena’s middle-school boyfriend scram and she tells her daughter that she loves her. Aww! Happy Mother’s Day!
Lena also tracks down Lockwood to let him know that President Baker, and therefore he himself, is working for Lex. Lockwood, who’s got Harun-El-induced red eyes and shedding hair, isn’t pleased by this news and goes tearing off. James and Lena follow.
Before he confronts Otis, Lockwood injects himself with more Harun-El, which is certainly a choice. Dumb-dumb Otis, tucked away in a safe house with video games and what looks like a sweet plate of donut holes, confirms that yep, they’re working toward Lex’s goals of money and world domination. “Supervillain, right, I get it,” says a disgusted Lockwood. Then Otis and Lockwood start to fight. James tries to pull them apart but is overcome by his Harun-El, and in the end, Lockwood rips out Otis’s Metallo Kryptonite heart and bolts.
Lena then helps James to the lab, where Lillian injects him with her anti-Harun-El solution. And when she suggests that Lena didn’t have the ovaries to actually poison her, Lena coolly offers her a vial and suggests, “You should drink it.”
Okay, our next group of heroes are Brainy, J’onn, and Nia, who are tasked with finding the aliens from the DEO desert facility. Brainy’s also tasked himself with telling Nia he’s in love with her because he’s a multitasker.
A unicorn keychain gives Dreamer a vision that leads them to an Amertek facility, but J’onn says Brainy’s odds for successfully Wookiee prisoner gag-ing their way in are too risky. But when he flies off to survey the scene and the young’uns spot the keychain girl, they move in on their own, with Brainy’s image inducer making him look like Lockwood.
And let me tell you, friends, what follows is an amazing 60 seconds of television as Sam Witwer delightfully channels Jesse Rath’s Brainy trying to be Lockwood. It’s *chef’s kiss* perfection. And the Children of Liberty bust them immediately, of course, because Ben Lockwood’s a lot of things, but robotic he is not.
Time for a little light torture. At first, Brainy begs them to spare Dreamer, but the harsher the treatment gets, the more affected he is. Then he starts glitching—and I use that word intentionally. As he tells his captors, he’s from a race of synthetic beings who are time and space travelers with ancestral memories. And those ancestors were very bad people: conquerers and collectors. He laughs and cries, and the lights on forehead flicker and flash.
Then he announces that they rebooted him to be more like his emotionless ancestors. “And that was a calamitous mistake,” he warns before he effortlessly takes out a roomful of guards, smoothing his hair, and collecting his Legion ring.
In a voice several shades deeper and more dispassionate than we’ve come to know, he explains to J’onn, who snuck in disguised as Eve, that Nia could be useful to his plans. He enters her cell and kneels in front of her. She’s clearly expecting that love declaration, but instead, he locks her back up and informs her that she’s to walk through the portal with the other aliens. Then she can astral project and they can liberate the camp.
Nia’s not cool with this plan, but Brainy doesn’t care. Then he performs what to my untrained eye looked like the five-point palm exploding heart technique and leaves J’onn to be captured, calculating that this doubles their odds of success.
Dreamer catches sight of Brainy turning his back on her as she’s waiting to be ushered through the portal, and dang, you thought Brainy was cold? You haven’t met Brain the Fifth.
Finally this week, we have Kara, informing Baker’s henchmen that in the U.S., we don’t just black-bag journalists. They sneer that the CatCo servers have been scrubbed, so bye-bye evidence. She easily escapes the humans, but Red Daughter gets the jump on her with the help of some Kryptonite.
As Red Daughter casually screws a silencer onto a gun, Kara, restrained with a Kryptonite chain, begs her to see that they’re the same. Red Daughter disagrees, calling Kara limited and mocking her cheerleader skirt. (She’s just jealous, Kar-Kar!)
As Red Daughter rants about the American Dream being snake oil, Kara reminds her that she’s got 15 years of Kryptonite tolerance on her and escapes out the window with only a bullet wound in the arm.
She heads to J’onn for patching up (prior to his Brainy/Amertek exploits), and she realizes that if Lex knows who she is, Alex is in danger. But J’onn says restoring Alex’s memories could destroy her mind if her sealed-off neural pathways are opened up through his psychic force. The only hope is that she remembers on her own.
Well, how convenient, then, that Alex just had a dream about Kara’s unexplained strength when they were children. Kelly, who’s casually hanging at Alex’s, suggests the adoption trauma led to adopted sister memories, but Alex says it’s the same weird feeling she had during the recent DEO security sweep. I think it’s happening tonight, friends! The remembering is upon us!
Concerned, Supergirl sneaks into the DEO to work with Alex on locating Red Daughter using a satellite scan. When Haley finds them, she immediately believes their story that Baker’s working with Lex, particularly because she has reason to believe that Lex hopes to acquire Project Claymore technology. (Apparently,pp all six of the engineers on the project recently woke up dead.)
When the tracker turns up Red Daughter, Supergirl ditches Alex and finds an apartment filled with her belongings. “Oh, Rao, she’s stalking me,” Supergirl breathes.
She’s studying a photo of Mikhail when Alex comes in, horrified that Red Daughter’s place looks like Kara’s. Alex describes her fear for Kara as feeling like a piece of her heart is out there in the world, on its own without protection. As she cries, Supergirl takes her hand, but the almost-sisterly moment is interrupted when their mother calls to say that Kara’s there with her.
Supergirl freaks and races to Eliza’s, where Red Daughter’s super judgy about all of Kara’s stuff. She insists that Lex goes by “Alex” and says she serves the collective, not individuals. Kara asks about Mikhail, which was a mistake because Red Daughter believes the Americans killed him. She unleashes the exo-suit and the pair fight, with Kara insisting, “Hope, help, and compassion for all. That’s what I stand for.” But Red Daughter refuses to listen to her warning that Lex will turn on her.
While Kara assumes they’ll be evenly matched in the powers department, Red Daughter brags that she’s “evolved” and unleashes a purple lightning punch that … knocks out the daylight, somehow? I don’t quite understand it, but it’s suddenly dark as she pummels Kara into submission just as Alex arrives on her bike.
Kara the hero, of course, refuses to submit, and as Alex watches the power show, she experiences the return of other memories: Kara roasting marshmallows with her laser eyes, making it snow indoors with her cold breath, rescuing her plane in the series premiere, reluctantly accepting Alex’s offer to save her with the memory wipe.
“Kara,” she breathes just as Red Daughter delivers a terrible blow. Alex tries to intervene, but Red Daughter knocks her down, listens to the slowing of Kara’s heart, and flies upward. Come on, did Lex not teach her the double tap? Alex remembers everything now and races over to Kara’s body, screaming, “Kara, you can’t go!” as their mother arrives. Red Daughter watches from the sky until a distant noise summons her.
Desperate, Alex tells the unmoving Kara that there’s sunlight in everything, stuffing grass into her fists and insisting, “Kara, just take it. Take the grass. Please.” Then streaks of light travel through the ground and flow toward Kara, who’s pulling the sunlight from the Earth into her body. It revives her, and her first words to Alex are, “I missed you so much.” Danvers sisters forever!
Then Haley calls Alex with bad news: She found plans for a compact Claymore that could fit into a Lexosuit. And the television gives them worse news: Kaznia invaded while everybody else was busy with all the other stuff, apparently. The president tells the nation that Kaznia was aided by the terrorist Supergirl, and Lex in a Lexosuit singlehanded thwarted their plans and killed her. As proof, the news shows a dead-looking Red Daughter in Lex’s arms.
Snaps of the cape
Questions! I’ve got ‘em! How did the Kaznian invasion slip by such that everybody’s hearing about it for the first time on TV? Who can un-reboot Brainy? Was Red Daughter’s purple lightning what brought down Lena’s plane last week? Who else instinctively screams “Wolverines!” when they see the title “Red Dawn”? Is Red Daughter really Dead Daughter? I mean, she can’t be, right? We need her “Mikhail’s still alive!” redemption arc.
Such fun acting challenges for both Witwer and Rath this week! The former nailed the “Brainy-as-Ben” vibe, and the latter gets to create a whole new approach to his character. I can’t wait to see how this storyline unfolds, but I hope it ends with a lot of groveling for forgiveness from poor Nia.
Are you ready for the finale next week? I am (give us more Lex!), and I’m not (the show’s been so fun this season!). Until then, super-friends…

Tidbits from the 1st semi-final of Vidbir (cause an actual summary from me would suck)
Even the beginning was rad, just listen how Andriy Danilko was announced, “His commentary is already as honest as it gets, but last year he outshined himself, a person who can tell you to go (fuck yourself) and don’t notice it - Andriy Danilko”
--- Host going like, “omg, Danilko, you have a different shirt today, will the same happen to your hat one day??”
---one time I actually agreed with our host was about organizators’ motto being “not a single Vidbir without Melovin” and hey, who can blame them?
--H: ¨and while at the other side of the screen Melovinators are losing their voices due to screaming, and someone at the backstage is being revived, I want to say that he was asked to participate as a guest, not as a participant¨ - bold of u to assume it will stop all the screaming
- Andriy Myhaylovych (Danilko), do you know that you are a human meme?   - Yeah, I am aware. Probably that’s just my destiny.
--Showcasing stickers with Danilko’s last year’s quotes, aka quality content
-- How would you describe our place in last years esc with one word? - Proper. (yeeee, mama Danilko being proud of his son)
--- said that after Mel was picked the administration of STB channel (that wasn’t really sure about him in fact) called him (Danilko) and said that he was right (about Mel)
--- “Hey!” by The Hypnotunez was a good fucking song, I will defend it with my own fists and swinging long hair, i mean, come on, they are singing ”why don’t you do like the bad girls do” while showing a funky running dinosaur on a screen, come onnnn. --- Letay finally showing Prityla his place by fighting back, my God, thank you so much!
Well, that’s how it went: Letay performed, and in the end of his song he grabs a handfulll of baloons and flies above the stage
well
later Pritula was making a fun joke (tm): reminded me of 80's summer Olympics, I even wanted to sing "goodbye, Mishka, goodbye"
and Letay went like: tbh, i have missed out on those games, i am not that old
--- ohhhh, Danilko liked it ↑ a lot.
--- Just so You know “ЦеШо“ translates as “What’s that?” and I love them too. ---Another sweet thing? Danilko being all supportive of  “ЦеШо“ and saying “I really love the crazy ones”
--Host called “ЦеШо“ minions cause of their yellow outfits and they responded by making minion sounds every time he turned his back to them, to the point that it was freaking him out. Hell yeah!
---YUKO has brought elecrofolk and was just like: ~hell yeah~
--- Maruv:  “My fans were like, “maybe-maybe you will participate in Eurovision?? so i had to tense my ass and write another song.”
---Also, for the ones who was kinda disturbed by Maruv’s performance: they themselves describe it as an “intelligent provocation and a kind of trolling”
---Host: in 2016 you said “all that i wanted to take from this contest - i have”. --Maruv: thank you, I remember
--- Host: I think it would be fair to give the first word to a person that you (Maruv) tried your best for - Jamala” (*•̀ᴗ•́*)و ̑̑
--- Danilko had problems with his radio set but instead said “wait, I am having troubles with my radiation”
---Host while announcing Brunettes Shoots Blondes, ”the guys that have spent 3 years making a stuffed piano” (btw, that piano is from XIXth century, don’t mess with it)
---honestly, the Frankenstein piano should get its own name and be listed as another member of the band
--- That legendary moment with Danilko and G-spot talk that i just must translate later ٩( ᐛ )و
--- “Oh, we got a translator from Danilko-language?” no, Prytula (the last name of the host), everybody understands him, you are just being mean.
--Danilko literally going ‘“God, let him stay quiet” about Prytula. Also “Jamala - go tell him”.  Yeah, Go tell him!! ೕ(•̀ᴗ•́)
--Melovin talking a bit about himself (God, I need to translate it as well, don’t I?)
--Host trying to provoke Mel with his “how do u feel about your 17th place?” and Mel being like: what 17th? I got 7th, cause public vote is more important to me; judges won’t come to my concerts, people will.
--Host to Danilko, ”Once one famous sportsman said: if you are the 1st one - everybody remembers you, if you are 2nd - nobody remembers you. Melovin got 17th place. What is this result to you?” -- I will tell you - your sportsman is stupid, because everybody knows the 2nd one”
--”I will tell you - I was very proud of Melovin’s performance, Because that atmosphere of negativity that was aimed at him at the national selection.., and it’s not really cause of the jury, let’s say it was cause of some other people if to put it gently, and I did say it very gently. I was.. you know, I was calm watching the performance; before, during the day, I have sent him a text message. Have you got it, btw? - (Mel) A huge thank you for everything! - Then why haven’t you replied?? *Mel starts laughing* --I am joking, joking, he did reply. I was sitting and was so content with you being confident, you being calm, everything went smoothly. What place? Guys, every time, on every national selection I am trying to tell everybody - that doesn’t matter at all. What matters is the quality of your country’s performance. And it was very high quality, it was proper, it wasn’t like any other year. Good job! --”He was the first one to write to me after the performance. I adore you!”

what's been your favorite part of writing seaglass blue? is there a part in particular that you couldn't wait to write? is there one you were avoiding?
to be honest i am 100% flying by the seat of my pants with this which right now is out of character so i haven’t exactly gotten to the dreaded parts yet lmao
i have an ending in mind (and a final line) that i really like but that i have a gut feeling no one else will like but i’m not compromising with it and i’m a little nervous to post that eventually. i’m not nervous about writing it but i don’t think it will necessarily come across well. Like it feels a little end of the sopranos but also it’s not like that at all but it’s the same existential vibe if that makes sense. which it doesn’t at all. but still
i actively avoid dialogue because it’s not my strong suit. i also can’t get the Mulder Voice right (deadpan snark etc) and then throwing in Big Feelings i’m just so out of my element
so far i shockingly haven’t dreaded writing any part of it. i did end up blocked with this last chapter because i hadn’t entirely decided what to do with the plot and the plot i’d thought through and didn’t actually use (and lmao have since forgotten!) just was not working at all so i didn’t write and instead did the whole running in circles thinking it through thing that isn’t writing (i recommend reading atomic habits by james clear ahaha! that running in circles motion gets a massive drag in there) that ultimately was never fruitful AND EITHER WAY i started a new drug for the other side of my life and it gave me wicked insomnia and at two am everything righted itself so i finally figured out where i was going. But that being said i never really dreaded it even though i oftentimes dread a scene or two in most chapters i write and i think the lack of dread comes from how it’s all set up in a very cozy way and it’s hard to dread something like that
i couldn’t wait to write the wedding which is why i dive into it so quickly. And i really wanted to interject parts of their “wedding night” or afternoon or whatever because those were my favorite moments to visualize. there’s another part down the line that i can’t wait to write but i also can’t spoil that haha. i think like...the most anticipated stuff i have coming up for the next chapter (or maybe the one after that depending on how the wordcount shakes out) is a specific conversation about specific things that happens in the dark. and uh i will not elaborate beyond that aldskjasldkjfdalsgj
my favorite part of writing it. this answer is so disjointed i’m sorry. i’ll put the rest of this under a cut because i’m rambling ahaha
my favorite part of writing it has been like...i think this is a multitude of things which is why i wrote msr again after a long unintentional break from it. idk if i ever really mentioned this (or at least if i mentioned it recently) but i started writing msr here in mid 2016 to rekindle my passion for writing while i was very very ill long term, and that culminated in the “everyday msr” archive i have on my ao3, which thus was a log of self-comfort in hard times as well as (unintentionally) documentation of how i neurologically healed during that treatment. so, bizarre. i was in a hard place back then and writing helped me keep my head screwed on straight, and luckily with msr you can write the shittiest things and someone will still be genuinely happy to read it and will look past any lack of talent or training or experience or anything and instead see you, someone having an idea and offering it to others, sharing something for the sake of feeling something good together. that (combined with my own personal gratification of having done something) really helped me emotionally during that time. like when you can’t be of service to anyone in the world, barely even to yourself, it’s really reassuring to hear “i was having a hard day today and this small thing you did eased me” and know that they didn’t need quality or exceptional talent; they just needed you to show up. i’m getting off topic but all of this is a roundabout way to say that i’m essentially back in that same place right now and have been for the past little over a year and like. It’s bullshit ahaha. like it’s absolute bullshit. But it’s strangely valuable to have this like...same connection as i had last time, just in a bit of a different way. it’s still msr, it’s still a kind of Happy Place for me, but there’s an overarching plot, i have other stuff that i write too, etc. but still, i appreciate being able to go back to an original comfort and form that comfort in the same way. the “everyday msr” stuff was intended to be just extended written-out headcanons about domestic msr post iwtb or post revival #1 that i could write in one sitting, and this isn’t entirely different from that; it’s just that the domesticity has a twist and a different era. but it’s the same stuff as before - pictures of misty places, gentle music, living based on the season, being a homebody, cooking for your lover, natural beauty. it’s nice to return to that place right now
another favorite part of writing this is that maine was an important part of my childhood. my family spent a week of vacation there each year (outside of bar harbor, not on mdi but right outside of it) and i kind of associate that purity with it. it feels like one of the only elements of childhood that i haven’t found adulthood corrupting. like we learn that disneyland is just a capitalist hellhole and whatnot when we’re older but maine hasn’t been ruined for me yet and i treasure that. And having them there feels special as a result. i very much on purpose didn’t label a town they’re in (or even base where they are on a real one lol all of that is glossed over enough anyway that i’m not worried about it) but it felt important and right for them to be in maine. it feels special to tap into the very brief time that i shared with the show while i was still a part of its cultural landscape. that sentence makes no sense. in other words i was born in 1997 ahaha. but either way like...i get to people this place that is already special to me and give them love and safety within it and that feels good in a way that i’m struggling to describe. And also i could go on some stupid rant about how Cell Phones Hurt Our Social Circles or whatever but i do genuinely miss rental houses that got 10 blurry channels on rabbit-eared tin foil televisions in a day and age when you normally got way more than that, all while you’re in an era in which boredom is still normal enough that all of that means “well, no tv for this week i guess!” and then you play a board game instead. it feels good to voluntarily create a place like that, then ask in my own life, why don’t i just live like this? And then to struggle through plotting something because there’s no digital numbing with television and smartphones and whatnot, and to understand my own hesitation, and to explore that a little more whether or not it’s in writing
another favorite part (yes i will in fact keep going!) is that the writing style is a little bit atypical from my current norm which allows me certain freedoms that i haven’t really opted for in a while. on the off chance that anyone has read any of my other recent stuff (though this is...a very small chance ahaha) it’s clear that these chapters are much shorter and less prose-heavy than my other stuff is, and that’s really helpful in that editing it is much simpler and writing it happens much quicker. if life were predictable and i had better self-discipline (and better health! can’t discount that one haha) then i could easily get a chapter out every weeks, in comparison to other stuff that i updated once every three months. i’m trying to keep each chapter to being about 3k in length (which they seem to naturally tend toward anyways, i didn’t create that metric so much as just went along with it) and there aren’t frequent “flashback sequences” (there are callbacks and past things brought up, but they’re not significant portions of chapters that go back and forth in timelines and make a nonlinear plot, the linear plot dominates and each scene is more or less in chronological order even if there are callbacks) so i’m not too worried about pacing or structure or anything like that. i never set out to make it “simple” i think it reads better this way and i appreciate that a lot because i can take a break from other stuff that’s a bit more jagged and just do this instead. it’s also nice to write something that i feel is more on the readable side than other things. i think my biggest inspirations for this (which i realized accidentally with the “he wants to brush her hair” line ahaha) were our souls at night and the sunlit night, both of which have a kind of dainty prose style and are a little low on long descriptions but can say a lot with one simple sentence. recently i’ve focused a lot more about darker subject matter and uglier parts of humanity so it’s nice to be able to focus on something that i feel like matters and has a more readable quality to it without actually sacrificing anything in the process or trying to dumb something down
so i think that’s it! that’s my thoughts! this is too long and far too personal! haha!

🍂
The sky was a pink shade of gray, a reminder that the sun still existed despite the clouds. Sheets of rain slashed through beams of street light. Holly cracked opened a window to let the soothing sound and scent of rain permeate the air of her small flat. She wished for lightening and thunder.
This week, game night was at her home. Sometimes, work permitting, Will arrived early, under the pretense of helping her set up. “Setting up” usually involved folding out a card table at one end of her kitchen table for extra seating, and then just chatting until the others arrived. But she doubted he would come early tonight.
All week she’d waited for a text from Will, an apology or a simple “hello”, even a “sorry wrong person” would have soothed her worries. Holly herself had started typing more than one text she never sent. She shouldn’t have rushed out of his car, she should’ve stayed and pretended it was nothing but a joke. She didn’t want to lose him as a friend even if she longed for more.
She’d channeled her nervousness about game night into crafts: a garland of paper ghosts fashioned from the pages of an old book, a centerpiece of squashes and mini-pumpkins she had no intention of ever eating and charcoal sketches of creepy Victorian kids. She had to talk herself out of adopting a black cat; she could barely take care of herself let alone a pet.
She sat at her kitchen table and arranged the pretzel sticks, candy corn and Reese’s pieces into a pattern. She was so absorbed by her task, she jumped when someone knocked at the door. It was still early for the game, so it had to be Will. She sprung from her chair.
“Come in.”
Sabrina and Jerome came in. “Hope you don’t mind we’re a tad early, we dropped off the kids at a friend and it was closer than we thought.”
“Isn’t Will already here?” Jerome asked.
“I am.” Will peeked inside from around the door.
Jerome and Sabrina shuffled over to let him in without stepping off the door mat.
Holly waved at him shyly, he didn’t avoid her gaze which she supposed was a good sign. He even took his usual place next to her. She was dying to ask if he was pretending nothing had happened or had changed his mind about her. But she couldn’t ask in front of their friends, and her home was too small to find a private corner. Nevertheless, her mood increased tenfold, and by the time all seven of her friends had arrived, she was dancing on her chair to “Monster Mash”.
They alternated between playing Dungeons & Dragons one week and regular board games the other, either old ones they loved or new acquisitions. Today being Halloween, someone suggested they played with a Ouija board.
Some groaned, among them Patrick who preferred games like Risk and Settlers of Catan. “It’s not a game!” he argued.
“Back in the days, it was marketed as family entertainment,” Sabrina replied. “Parker Brothers distributed it.”
“C’mon just for a bit, just for laughs,” someone else enthused.
“Wait, let me set the mood,” Holly said.
She selected a Halloween playlist on her mobile. She brought her collection of candles to the table and closed the lights. The scent of burnt match and melted wax rose with the smoke.
There was a thrill in the air, they all exchanged glances and giggles. Everyone, except Will, wanted to put their fingers on the planchette. They tugged it this way and that, spelling swear words and booing like ghosts.
“Let’s do this seriously,” Jasna said. “Be silent.”
It took a moment, but everyone calmed down. Jasna cleared her throat and breathed in deeply. Holly snickered, and Jasna’s mouth twitched from repressed laughter.
“Alright.” She placed the planchette so the hole in it was positioned above the G. “I am trying to contact the spirit world.”
She had a deep voice for a woman and a Bosnian accent that lended a hint of mystery to her words.
First they moved the planchette across the board, anti-clockwise, to warm it up, then Jasna asked: “Are there any spirit in the room?”
The planchette moved to “yes”.
Holly’s hair stood on end. She bit the thumb nail of her free hand.
“How many spirits are in the room?”
Jasna closed her eyes. The planchette dragged down the board to the numbers.
One.
Two.
Everyone laughed, notes shrill with unease. It kept going. Three.
Four.
Five.
Sabrina gulped. Jerome looked over his shoulder.
Holly scooted closer to Will. She felt a prickled on the back of her neck. A candle flame flared up, and almost burnt her sleeve. “Fuck,” she whispered.
“What are your names?”
This time the planchette jerked to the letter “K”, zigzagged across the board as if wrestled over, then touched the “A”. Will dropped his hands. Then it pointed the “T”. When it moved towards the “E”, Will stood up, startling them all. He clenched his jaw and glared around the table, breathing fast through his nose. Then he just grabbed his coat and stormed out.
“Which one of you arsehole did that?” Holly asked.
They all exchanged suspicious looks but none dared admit culpability.
*
Will drove around aimlessly, swearing under his breath. His hands shook so he gripped the wheel tighter. His knuckles turned white.
How could his friends do that to him? With one joke they’d revived the ache in his chest, like taking a scalpel to a stitched wound.
Heavy rain blurred the traffic lights and road signs. He felt dizzy. He shouldn’t drive in this state. But he didn’t know where to go. He didn’t want to go home, Jamie was at a slumber party, all by himself he would just churn these dark thoughts in his head. Why was he so freaked out? Ghosts weren’t real.
Will slammed the breaks. His whole body jerked forward. The wheel stamped in his chest with a long honk. He’d nearly hit a pedestrian.
He parked the car on the side of the road. His heartbeat drummed in his ears. He rested his forehead on the wheel and took deep breaths.
It was only a joke. They didn’t not it would hurt so much. None of them had known Kate. None of them had seen the shell of a man he was after her death. None of them knew he’d murdered for her… In fact, he’d never told any of them about Kate at all. His blood ran cold. No, he’d told Holly, but he didn’t believe her capable of pulling such a cruel prank.
*
In Holly’s flat, candles were still burning but everyone had gone. She’d texted Will and rearranged the candies’ pattern while waiting for his reply.
Instead of texting her back, he showed up on her doorstep. His hair dripped with rain. He smelled of cigarette, so she knew the whole event had really unnerved him.
Without a word, he pulled out a chair and slouched on it.
“I’ll make you a cuppa,” she said softly.
She popped the kettle on and browsed her tea collection. She bought far more than she drank, she couldn’t resist a whimsical name– “Buddha’s blend” or “seaberry spa”. But tonight called for traditional English tea. She debated which cup to pick, yellow to cheer him up or green for hope. She chose one that said “you are deer to me” underlined by a set of antlers. He smiled at the pun, though very briefly.
Holly twirled the tea bag in her mug, watching the dark swirls it left in its wake. She did it with her left hand so the right one could rest on the table, close to Will’s.
The thunder she’d wished for began. Ominous rumbles, like a giant cracking his knuckles.
In the other room, the Halloween playlist ended, and an old jazz one started. Notes of saxophone and a lamenting blues voice travelled through the wall like something from the past.
“Did you tell them about my wife?” he asked.
“Of course not, you told me that in confidence. I think some reality show starlet called Kate died last week, that’s probably what that was about.”
He bit the inside of his cheek, nodding unconvincingly.
A lightning strike illuminated his face. He was looking at the Ouija board still on the table. Whoever had brought it over, hadn’t wanted it back.
“Do you want to try again?” she asked him.
He hesitated. “Do you believe in spirits, Holly?”
“I’m open to the idea.”
It was too romantic a notion for her to discard entirely, the possibility of a connexion beyond death.
Will picked up the game, and they settled in the living room. They sat on the shaggy carpet, their backs against the couch and placed the board on the coffee table.
Will shook his hands, clenched and unclenched his fists. She wanted to pat his shoulder or rub his back, something to comfort and reassure him, but she couldn’t help thinking that if Kate’s ghost was still around, she wouldn’t like Holly touching her husband.
They placed their fingertips lightly upon the planchette. There were no giggles or joking around like earlier. Her stomach was heavy, her mouth dry.
“Kate, are you still here?” he asked.
Thunder answered him.
They waited. One minute. Two minutes.
“Kate?” he asked again with a tremor in his voice.
The planchette didn’t move.
Will sighed and leaned back against the couch.
“Are you disappointed?” she asked him.
“I don’t know… I’m relieved, I think.”
“Relieved?”
He rubbed the back of his neck. “The reason I freaked out so much is that I’ve been thinking about Kate a lot lately. More than usual, I mean.”
“Oh.”
“I wonder what she would think. I wonder– I’m afraid it would make her sad that there’s someone else in my life.”
“You met someone?”
His meaning didn’t dawn on her until she met his gaze, his eyebrows slightly arched, his front teeth in his bottom lip.
“Me?”
“Aye. You’ve become important to me. Holly.”
Holly hid her blushing face against the couch cushion, peering sideways. She touched the tips of his fingers, and he slouched down so his face was closer to hers.
“You’re important to me too. I like you a lot.”
He smiled, a wide grin, thin lines fanned out from the corners of his eyes. The kind of smile that can only come from the happiness and heady relief to know one’s feelings are returned. A smile that mirrored her own.
She felt like her heart was glowing. She wanted to kiss him, right then and there, but he had more to say about his late wife.
He entwined their fingers and gathered his thoughts.
“I don’t want someone to replace Kate,” he said. “She used to say my brain was full of holes, but sometimes it feels like it’s my heart that’s full of holes.”
Holly touched his chest, and he placed his hand over hers.
“She’s still in there, but I need someone who is really here. Someone whose voice I can hear. Someone I can touch.”
Holly might have wondered if she could stand sharing his heart with a ghost, but he grazed her cheek with the back of his fingers, lightly, hesitantly, and she melted on the spot. She leaned into his touch, and he cupped her face firmly this time. His long fingers cradled her jaw, his thumb stroke her cheekbone, his gaze dropped to her lips.
“Oh, Will…”
A window flew open, wind toppled a pencil holder and scattered a stack of art prints across the floor.
Will jerked his head back, and Holly yelped. Her hand flew to her chest where he heart raced.
He closed the window while she collected the fallen items with shaky hands. She turned on all the lights in the room.
“That scared me half to death,” Holly said.
“Maybe it was Kate’s ghost.”
“Don’t even joke about this,” she said good-naturedly. She elbowed him lightly in the ribs.
They sat on her overstuffed sofa, it dipped in the middle, bringing them closer.
“Holly, are you all right with this?”
She rubbed her thumb in her palm. In a way, a widower was an improvement on a married man, and even on a divorcee.
“I have my own baggage,” she said carefully. “So I don’t know how it will go. But I feel so close to you, you know?”
“I know.”
“If you like, how come you reacted that way last week, when I took off my shirt?”
“You caught me by surprise!” His voice hitched an octave.
“Yeah, I don’t know what I was thinking.” She bit her bottom lip.
“I have to say, I admire your boldness.”
“Yeah? Would you like a do-over?”
“You mean…?
“I’ll take off my jumper again, and you make sure you have a better reaction.”
“Okay.”
“D’you need a minute to think about it?”
“Aye.”
She worked hard to hold back a grin when his brow furrowed in concentration. He signaled with a nod that she could go ahead. Holly rose to her knees and grabbed the hem of her sweater, displaying more confidence than she felt.
“Sod it,” Will mumbled before lunging for a kiss before she’d pulled it off completely.
Holly laughed against his mouth, but he pressed on. There was an anxiety to it, as if he might lose his nerve any second. His back muscles were rigid under her fingers. She moved her lips slowly as she rubbed up and down his spine.
The moment he truly yielded to his feelings, his weight pressed against her, and they fell back on the couch, mouths still locked.
His lips were eager, his hands roamed her stomach. He kissed down her neck as her legs cradled his narrow hips.
He broke the kiss to look at her. His eyes were bright, his hair a dishevelled.
“Much better reaction,” she said with a laugh.
He pecked her lips, then rested his head on her chest. She stroke his hair as he hugged her tight.
He stayed all night.
They marathoned classic black and white horror movies. Bela Lugosi grunted and Vincent Price laughed maniacally, as Will and Holly ate all the candies. They kissed too many times to keep up with the plots, and talked about everything long past midnight, never breaking physical contact. A happy tangle of limbs. They had so much to discover about the other now that they weren’t trying to hide their feelings.
They fell asleep in the wee hours, and Will’s phone alarm woke him up not much later.
“Don’t go,” Holly mumbled, clinging to his warm body.
He allowed himself two more snoozes before separating from her.
“I’ll see you soon,” he said, and kissed her head.
Despite the lack of sleep, he felt renewed. His patched-up heart beat more freely.
On his phone, he had several texts and voicemails from his concerned friends. He couldn’t hold a grudge for long given their prank had lead to finally kissing Holly.
On the way to his car, he whistled an old jazz song. But as he put his hands in his pockets, he found a green apple he didn’t remember putting there.

2020 In Review
It’s that time of the year again. At the end of every year, I write a post to sum up what I did this year and share my (controversial) opinions of the year’s current affairs. However, because I had so much to say for the latter, I’ve moved it to the Red Pill Year post - as obvious from the title, I’ve become red-pilled on quite a few things this year.
Things have been very different due to the coronavirus; while my transition into society has been forced to slow drastically, I did manage to achieve quite a lot over the six months in lockdown (from late-March to October). The lockdown has given me a good excuse to be a NEET and do all the things I want to do because I actually become a productive member of society.
Before I go into detail over various aspects, let’s start off this review with a list of...
What I did during lockdown
Finished my uni degree (I only had one subject left at that point and it was a beginner’s course to Cisco networking)
Reposted my reviews of the Sea Princesses animated series (which I completed last year)
Did some analysis on how Kamen Riders are not weapons
Played Warriors Orochi Z
Did a little reminiscence post on Kingdom of Paradise
Played Dynasty Warriors 8 and collected every 5 and 6 star weapons for each character
Launched Kisekae Insights as a soft reboot of the Yui Hirasawa Kisekae Project
Made a Change My Mind post about freedom of speech, censorship and cancel culture
Translated and reviewed the ten Princesas do Mar books, with the blessings of the author, Fabio Yabu
Played a bit of Dynasty Warriors Multi Raid 2 and 6 Special, no posts made for those games
Kept working on my personal project for a bit before putting it on hold
Checked and rewrote every story in my personal project (it’s still not finished yet)
Looking back at the year
Doctor Who
In case you haven’t read about it already, I decided to take the red pill on this series after watching The Timeless Children. Check out the hiatusbreaker update for some post-review thoughts that I made months after the end of Series 12.
Of course, I’ll be reviewing the New Year’s Special, Revolution of the Daleks, and Series 13 when it premieres late 2021. Be sure to check out my review of the New Year’s Special when it comes out the day after New Year’s Day.
Sea Princesses
For the third year in a row, I’ve done something significant for Sea Princesses. in 2018, I collected the English episodes as they were posted on YouTube. In 2019, I worked on the episode plots and transcripts for the wiki while also downloading the Amazon raws and collecting the remaining episodes that weren’t posted on YouTube (because the Mr Bean and Friends channel has finally given up after years of shitty marathon streams). In 2020, I brought the ten Princesas do Mar books and translated them into English.
When I emailed the author, Fabio Yabu, at the end of April to tell him of my intentions to translate the books, I didn’t get a reply from him until the middle of July. By that point, I had already brought the books from Pure Brazil (on Amazon) and I had finished scanning most of the books. In reflection, if I had known that he would offer to send me his manuscripts, I would have emailed him last year and not a week before I decided to buy the books. However, what’s done is done and at the very least, I’m probably the only person in Australia to actually have the books.
My original plan was to buy the books when I had gotten a job and saved up some money from each paycheck until I got the amount I needed. Looking back, I think it was a stupid idea and I’m glad I decided to cave. Considering the time it took me to scan and translate the books being unemployed and under lockdown, who knows how long it would have taken if I were studying or working full-time.
It’s funny how I’ve tried to spread the word about my efforts to revive the series and yet, I ended up doing all the work. Maybe it was because very few people cared as much about the series as I did, or maybe I didn’t make an effort to promote it enough because I was quite reserved about reaching out on platforms other than Facebook or Tumblr. This whole experience has taught me that in the end, if you want something done, you have to do it yourself.
In addition to this, I’ve also reposted my reviews of the cartoon series that I did in 2019. You can find all the reviews on this page. On top of that, I wrote three instalments on the series’ involvement in my personal project for Kisekae Insights. All in all, they made up the bulk of content that I posted during the lockdown.
Just as a note, only the English, Brazilian Portuguese and Castilian Spanish dubs have both seasons online in full, whether on YouTube, Amazon Prime or my cloud drive. As for the Latin American Spanish dubs, only the first season is available and I know someone at Southern Star is screwing with us because I have evidence that the second season was broadcast in that region as well. While this channel doesn’t have all the episodes and the videos were filmed with a camera in front of a television in not even 360p quality, it’s probably the only place where that version of the series is available. The second season wasn’t even released on DVD, which complicates things even more, but hey, that’s what happens when a series goes lost and forgotten for a decade.
Yabu has published translated versions of the first four literacy series books on Amazon Kindle and is planning on publishing translated versions of the main series books. As for the main series books on Kindle, there are errors in two of the books. In A Shadow in the Water, there’s two chunks of text missing at the start of Chapter 10, namely the Turtle King’s call to Miss Marla, so that the Turtle King says, “Hello! It’s cancelled!” before Leia gets off the bus and goes to the whale without any context as to how it got there. In The Windy Letters, there was a line missing at the end of Chapter 12 (13 in the Kindle version) saying that Tubarina passed out as she was leaving the cave. I was going to mention this in the epilogue for the book reviews, but I decided to cut it because I thought that Yabu would fix it. Sure enough, the second error was fixed (albeit haphazardly), but the first error hasn’t, and it’s been three months since I pointed it out to him. In hindsight, I’m kind of glad that I have the physical books because I wouldn’t have known about this if I just had the Kindle books.
I didn’t promote this until now because it’s not that important, but the literacy series books (with the exception of Turtles in Danger, I don’t know why distribution rights are all over the place) are available on Ubook in both ebook and audiobook formats. Interestingly, some of the narrators listed on the audiobooks include Eduardo Drummond, Ana Elena Bittencourt and Jullie, who are known for voicing Marcello, Tata and Leia on the Portuguese version of the cartoon. I can likely deduce from this that they managed to get some of the original cast back to do the audiobooks. This is yet another reminder that the series receives more love in Brazil than it does in Australia. I can bet that if the series were to receive English audiobooks, then whoever’s making them won’t bother to find the old cast. I won’t hold it against them if they don’t, but I’ll give them props if they do, even if they just get Paige Walker back as Tubarina.
If anyone wants to know about the production of the series, a few guys did a study on the Brazilian animation industry and Flamma Films, one of the producers of Sea Princesses, is covered in section 3.1. There is nothing special to be gleaned from it that I haven’t known or deduced already; the series is still decent even though there were places where it was screwed over. Although, it’s a shame that this series was never picked up by anyone who could have done better than Southern Star or that Yabu left Flamma in 2009 because I think there was more potential in both him and Sea Princesses. But hey, that’s just my opinion. I might cover the production history on the wiki someday.
With this, all canon material for Sea Princesses has been covered. I will still work on the wiki and moderate the content on there as admin, it’s just that it won’t be as groundbreaking as it was for the past three years. I’ve done all I can for the series and regardless of the reception it has or will receive, it’s time for me to move on.
Kisekae Insights
During the lockdown, I decided to launch Kisekae Insights as a means of sharing my personal project outside of my circle of friends. It also served as a reboot of the Yui Hirasawa Kisekae Project that I attempted to launch in 2015 before abandoning it due to commitments.
At the moment, I’m taking a break from this series to focus on other things, but in 6 months, I managed to make 16 instalments of this series centred around various aspects of my personal project. I don’t know when I might decide to start making instalments again, let alone if, so if you’ve been closely following the series, be prepared for the possibility that the series will stop at any point. I still have a portion of the project I want to write before finishing up, so I want to focus on that first along with revising older portions of the project.
Censorship
This was a topic that I wanted to cover in the Red Pill Year post, but I decided to move it to here because I wanted to get that post published before focusing on this one.
I’ve been on social media for 10 years now and over that time, I’ve seen many cases of censorship (not just on both sides of the political spectrum, but on many other spectrums) and been a victim of it myself. There have been so many different types of censorship that I’ve found it difficult to generalise into a single category until now.
When Donald Trump announced that he wanted Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act revoked because his tweets got fact-checked, I was almost onboard with him until someone who owns a (controversial) website I browse regularly pointed out that he would have to shut down his website because of the potential lawsuits that would be filed against him. The sad thing about this is that Joe Biden is looking to revoke 230 as well and no major website is making an uproar about this, given that they were so vocal about things like SOPA/PIPA, Article 13 and net neutrality in the past. I swear, this site is the only site I’ve seen that is actually talking about this.
Basically, the main gist of Section 230, or “the twenty-six words that created the internet”, are as follows: “No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider.” In other words, websites can’t be held responsible for content posted by users of that website, including posts, comments or videos, and thus they can’t be sued for it. Without 230, websites (particularly big websites and social media websites based in the US) would have more incentive to censor as they would be liable for that content; even with the amount of money the big companies have, they can only fight so many lawsuits before their money runs out, and that’s even if they want to bother doing that in the first place.
Social media sites define what seems to be clear rules for the use of their sites, but lately it seems that they keep moving the goalposts on content that touches the line at best while content that outright breaks the rules (like gore and child porn) remains hiding in the shadows or isn’t deemed a problem when reported. Their moderation systems are heavily reliant on AI with little, if any, human guidance, which basically means that their rationale for censorship is based on reports from, in order, corporations and IP owners, left-wing (SJW) biases and people who cry hard enough (en masse) to get something taken down.
Copyright takedowns are also a form of censorship because it’s mostly corporations being absolute Jews with their content. This is a problem with people who post content with copyrighted material because they run the risk of having the material taken down or demonetised, particularly in the case of content creators who use YouTube as their main source of income. The lines of copyright have been so blurred over the years that many people don’t care about it beyond crediting the original creators or not. At this point, it’s practically common knowledge that corporations are still stubborn over copyright even though they have other sources of revenue, not to mention the way they exploit their assets (franchises, celebrities and so forth).
In summary, political bias is a problem when it comes to censorship, but corporate bias and people gaming the system are just as much of a problem. The political biases of social media can seem like they flip-flop between two sides, but that’s what happens when you let AI do your work for you.
Who remembers the Tumblr NSFW ban of December 2018? I honestly can’t believe I’m saying this, but Pornhub has just gone through a similar purge, now only allowing official partners and verified creators to post because of rape, trafficking and child porn. You know what the common element between the two purges is? It’s burning down a large part of the orchard just because of a few rotten trees. A lot of perfectly legal content has been caught up in the crossfire because Tumblr and Pornhub are a bunch of pussies who are too lazy or afraid to have people go through and delete illegal content like child porn. Is anyone getting a feeling of déjà vu here? However, the situation with Pornhub is more financially motivated because their payment networks, namely Visa and Mastercard, terminated their services with them. I’ll get back to them in a bit.
Going on a bit of a tangent, YouTube has blocked all age-restricted videos from being played on other sites in their embedded player, meaning that users have to go onto their site and log into their account in order to watch those videos. That’s just great. How am I supposed to watch old Chris-chan videos now without having it appear in my internet history or even my Google account history?
Conservatives believe that the amount of censorship that is happening on social media sites is making them look like publishers instead of platforms. Sadly, I agree with this, but the even sadder thing is that Section 230 makes no distinction to such nor mentions “platforms” in any context. Therefore, I don’t believe that Section 230 should be revoked, but I do believe that there should be a reform in order to cover things like platforms, publishers and recourse for people who have been deplatformed. The Communications Decency Act was first passed in 1995; at that time, the internet was in its infancy, but in 2020, it has expanded to levels that people would never have imagined back then. Of course, the government shouldn’t be the only party to do something about censorship; social media sites and their uses have responsibility in this as well.
“bUt PRiVaTe CompanIES cAN dO whaTEveR THey WaNt, ThEy aREN't oblIgeD tO HOsT yOUR CoNTEnt” No. Anyone who still unironically believes this in current year, after all the government and corporate bullshit that has affected and threatened the integrity of the internet, can go fuck themselves. What about all the people who have been unfairly deplatfomed in recent years despite not doing anything illegal? What about #StopTheLeftPurge? I and many other people knew that the karma of censorship would somehow hit back on people eventually, so nobody should be defending any website for the actions they take to censor people. I’m all for getting scammers and people peddling illegal content off of social media, but we’re at the point where people are being deplatformed for things like copyright, wrongthink and criticism “as harassment” and innocent people are getting caught in the crossfire. My attitude to the current state of censorship on the internet is pretty much the same as my attitude to the police: How can we trust social media sites to moderate their users and content if they keep moving the goalposts, being vague about their justifications and believing victims practically all the time?
Here are some suggestions for how I would reform censorship.
Define large social media networks as public platforms: Despite all the alternatives that have sprung up, such as Gab, Parler, MeWe, Rumble, BitChute or the like, very few social media sites will have the potential to become the new Facebook, Twitter or YouTube, which has become so ubiquitous in our society. The alternatives may be good in their own ways, but the main reason why people are moving to them is because the mainstream sites have deemed their content or presences unwelcome. We’re talking about companies the size of supermarket or fast food chains compared to small businesses or businesses with a few branches in less than a few states. I realise that defining Facebook, Twitter or YouTube as “platforms” alone won’t do anything to reform censorship, so I should note that the next few suggestions should be just as important as this one.
Lessen punishments for people who post copyrighted content: Let’s face it, deplatforming YouTube channels after three copyright strikes is unfair considering that this is a fairly minor offence and the lines of copyright and fair use have been severely blurred over the past decade. If the content is from TV or something, then the most that should happen is that the video is removed or the ad revenue goes to the copyright owners, but if a channel is outright impersonating and/or plagiarising (original) content from another channel, that’s a different story.
Allow opportunities for discourse and appeals: When I was postblocked on Facebook thanks to some gaijin bitch who was too butthurt to take or respond to my criticisms of him, there was no way for me to appeal his reports of my content or the postblocks that resulted from them. When I tried to post something, a window would pop up saying that I was postblocked and there would be a button saying something like “Something’s Wrong”, but even after I clicked on it, nothing ever resulted from it. I would have been postblocked for 30 days or even deplatformed if he didn’t agree to rescind his reports after I called him out on his bullshit again. I’ve also heard of other cases where people’s appeals don’t seem to do anything or only make the problem worse.
Prevent abuse of DMCAs and reporting systems: Adding onto my previous point, there needs to be a way for people to say “these people are trying to get me deplatformed even though I did nothing wrong”. On one hand, I think there should be a limit on how many times people can report a particular page per week, while on the other hand, people need to be told to grow a spine and stop being crybabies over content that they shouldn’t be affected by (in most cases). In regards to DMCAs, I’ve found that some people abuse the system to get any criticisms of them taken down. Criticism is covered under fair use, but there needs to be a distinction between creative content and things that people say on social media.
Rely less on AI moderation and more on human moderation: During the Tumblr NSFW ban, they decided to ban “female-presenting nipples” except in contexts such as breastfeeding or surgery. However, the AI they used caught male nipples and female nipples that fit the exceptions for that ban. Social media relies too much on AI for the moderation of their content because they don’t want to expose human moderators to that stuff, even though that is technically part of their job. The content bots on YouTube make this worse with things like ContentID, COPPA or even the automatic detection of age-restricted videos. I’m convinced that AI alone cannot moderate content fairly; there should be another level of moderation where humans judge the moderation of the AI. For the past year, I’ve been doing a work-from-home thing where I assess Google search queries to see which results satisfy the needs of the user making the search. Having something like that for Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube and the like would be good, but the only problem is ensuring that they have a diverse range of political standings and interests in the moderator pool.
Finally, there are a few things I would like to clarify. Firstly, when I say “censor”, I don’t mean putting content warnings on things (in fact I’m all for them because some people might not like certain types of content), but I mean outright deleting them and/or punishing the users for posting them. Secondly, when it comes to NSFW content, I believe that “either all of it is okay or none of it is okay”, particularly when AI moderation can’t tell things apart most of the time. Thirdly, I make exceptions when it comes to things like rape, trafficking and child porn because they are exploitative and non-consensual. Fourthly, I believe that fan art and artworks, including hentai and Rule 34 (while contentious at times), should be treated differently to real life and live-action because while it is a subjective debate, there are generally no victims in the former.
Of course, those are just some of my suggestions for reforming censorship; there may be some that I haven’t brought up. My point is that knee-jerk reactions can end up hurting more people than they benefit.
There was another suggestion brought up by the owner of the website I mentioned earlier. He believes that the solution to fixing censorship is to make banks and payment networks like utilities (gas, electricity, phone, internet), meaning that they can’t blacklist anyone unless they have actually been convicted of financial crime (or sanctioned by other countries). When I first read it, I couldn’t figure out how to connect the two, but now that I know the circumstances behind the Pornhub purge, I realise that all these companies really care about isn’t just money, but whether they can be paid by conventional means. Small sites can afford to use alternate means such as cryptocurrency, but big sites have to cater to the mainstream. There’s a difference between being banned from a business because you’re being belligerent and being banned from a business because you’re a controversial figure who has said some controversial stuff online, particularly in the past. I’d also suggest that social media be considered an utility as well, but compared to the examples I’ve given, it’s pretty much a non-essential service.
In my first suggestion, I named some alternative social media platforms that people have been using in recent years. I don’t really intend to sign up for those platforms because a) I don’t post contentious stuff all the time and even when I do, it either follows the community guidelines or flies under the radar (with the exception of petty snitches and bitches) and b) I don’t have a strong enough fanbase nor do I have enough fans who are willing to follow me to wherever I decide to migrate to. After cutting off other social media platforms like Twitter or Pinterest due to lack of use, the only platforms I have left are Facebook and Tumblr. Various factors have kept me from posting as often as I have done in the past; I’m struggling to find enough things to post per month just for the sake of it.
Even if you follow the rules, you should still be worried about censorship, because before you know it, you might be the next one on the chopping block.
Political correctness
I’ve been as tolerant as I can be about changing the way we say or do things because of political correctness, but some of the changes I’ve seen, particularly in the past year in response to Black Lives Matter, has me questioning why. I mean, yes, of course the answer is about racism, but my main question with it is that if people had a problem with something, why didn’t they say something earlier? Why did it take the death of a black drug user who was arrested for using counterfeit bills for people to do something instead of all the other black people whose deaths led to similar protests in the past? Why didn’t black people say anything when they began to be treated fairly following the Civil Rights Movement?
Some people have said that removing monuments and memorials of figures related to Confederacy or slavery is destroying or censoring history. I think that a better idea would be to keep them, but teach people why those figures should or should not be revered.
As for casting changes, it seems that the trend is to have characters of marginalised demographics being portrayed by people from those demographics; black characters being portrayed by black actors, transgender characters being portrayed by transgender actors and autistic characters being portrayed by autistic actors. On one hand, I can kind of understand, particularly when it comes to live-action works, but on the other hand, they’re just actors and it’s in their profession to portray different characters as the job requires. In animation, you probably wouldn’t be able to tell who’s the voice behind the character if you don’t bother researching the actors in the credits. I get the idea of diversity and casting the right person based on talent, but sometimes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
I don’t understand the motivation behind political correctness sometimes. Either that or I just don’t like things changing so drastically (when there’s very little problem with it in the first place).
On another note, check out my Red Pill Year post to see why I prefer to use the term “coronavirus” over “COVID-19″.
Cancel culture
I’ve said it before and I’ve said it again. Cancel culture is just people overreacting to things people did, particularly in the past which nobody should be caring about anymore. This then leads to censorship and arguments about political correctness.
Personally, cancel culture should be more like iDubbbz’s Content Cops; someone does an exposé on a problematic figure, they get a chance to respond and the rest of us either accept their response or mock them for their shit response or lack thereof. Such a shame that iDubbbz has fallen so low after the RiceGum Content Cop though...
In any case, people need to learn how to think critically and stop being so petty over trivial things. Also, getting someone fired just for something they said or did outside of their workplace is just as petty. People need to learn to separate the internet from real life and about what professionalism is.
Other miscellaneous stuff
A few more things before I finish up.
Between publishing the Red Pill Year post and this one, some mutant strains of the coronavirus, originating in the UK and South Africa, have begun spreading all over the world along with some new cases and clusters in Australia. Hopefully we’ll be able to contain these new cases like we did with all the other ones, but some blame still needs to be put on governments for allowing the pandemic to get this far and people for not following social distancing guidelines.
I decided to randomly search my Tumblr blog in the Wayback Archive recently. There’s not a lot of stuff there, but one thing that alarmed me was that two posts from 2017, namely my Content Cop parody and my rant about Facebook pages, were archived more than 20 times. I don’t know who initiated it or whatever, but if it is who I think it is, then I would have thought that archiving the post forever would be the last thing they wanted.
In a way, I’ve begun to understand why the right tends to say “All Lives Matter” in response to “Black Lives Matter”. They think we already live in an utopia where racism is all but eradicated, so they think that the movement is merely attention seeking, virtue signalling and so on. Would we be complaining if there wasn’t any injustice in our society? The same question could be said for Hong Kong and any other place where there is injustice.
Over the past few years, I’ve come to realise that corporations are not our friends. If my time writing English dub rants has taught me anything, it’s that corporations rarely listen to their customers; the only reason why shills and cucks support anything corporations do is because their interests happen to align with whatever they’re doing. It’s the same logic as corporations supporting Black Lives Matter. The main objective of a company isn’t to virtue signal because they have very little or no place to do so. They should just give us customers what we want, take our money and fuck off.
And if you thought that last line sounded familiar, that’s because it’s from Ricky Gervais’ monologue at the 2020 Golden Globes in January. How good was that? Anyone who disagrees with what he said is, knowingly or unknowingly, defending the kind of culture he is criticising.
Lockdowns aside, the time has come for me to resume my transition into society, but not without precautions. Of course, I’ll still be around, but I’ll probably be posting less in 2021 compared to 2020, not that it really matters anyway.
Before I go, I’d like to leave you with some final words.
Black lives matter and Hongkonger lives matter.
All cops are bastards.
Corporations are not your friends, even if they make something you like.
Stay safe, practice social distancing and wear a face mask when going out.
願榮光歸香港 (May glory return to Hong Kong.)
Happy New Year everyone. I wish you peace as we move from a very turbulent 2020 to what could possibly be an even more turbulent 2021.
