I can certainly see Tim Drake being an undercover intern in Lex Luthor Corp for Batman. Man I love that to be his introduction to the DC universe movies wouldn't that be Soo cool. I really want them to also highlight the Wayne side of the family, I get it that fight crime is cool but also want the see the batfamily especially the batboys to attend gala's in behalf of the Wayne legacy. Like they have to keep up the act. 😤 And I can only see Tim Drake the only robin that is interested in running the Wayne technology. ( Damian will definitely insist in the position but I doubt he will last, he will definitely fire all the board members then get bored at the meetings thinking how stupid everyone else is.

Lex Luthor (Smallville/X-Men) AU - Fanfiction - Chapter 3

“Mr. Luthor, your car is here.”

Lex nodded, packing his laptop into the briefcase as he followed you out the door. He slid into the backseat of the limo and you followed, seated right opposite him. Your eyes drifted out the window, so you hadn’t caught that look he sent you. As is assessing you. Trying to solve the puzzle.

“I’ve never asked, but do you have family back in Canada?”

The slight turn of your head and that look of indifference returned. There was a coldness in your eyes.

“No. There’s no one.”

Just that was enough for him to tell that there was a story there. Maybe linked to the reason you’d joined the service. More than anything he wanted to ask, but from the shift in your posture, there was nothing but pain that would follow that story, so he simply ended it right there.

Nothing else was said for the entirety of the trip.

It took a few hours to get to the destination, and the minute he was settled in. You did your usual surveillance of the hotel room and the floors, then returned. He was standing at the balcony, staring out at the view.

“This is a perfect vantage point to get killed.”

Lex expected the statement. He just leaned against the railing, his eyes fixed on the many lights below. The wind felt great against his face. It’s one of the few times that he felt at peace. At that moment the reason for this visit wasn’t important. He could just breathe.

Your eyes drifted, very aware of how much he seemed to be enjoying the quiet. Given his lifestyle, you knew moments like this must have been far and few between. Maybe that’s why you felt it necessary to answer the lingering question.

“I was part of an experimental program. My brother and I escaped, but he changed. He killed innocent people and my best friend, so I had no choice but to stop him. Then I joined the army.”

If he expected anything, it wasn’t that.

“I’m so-”

“I don’t want your pity.”

Your words were laced with agitation.

“I only told you to avoid the constant pestering. I tried to serve my time, fight for something good. I did what I could before they sent me back here. I paid my debt. I’m just patiently waiting for the moment that I bite the bullet. Until then, I might as well be useful.”

Lex had been through the blender so to speak, but everything in his life felt insignificant after hearing that revelation. What could anyone say to such a declaration? He wasn’t sure. He wishes he knew.

“Time to sleep.”

He realized that you weren’t asking. You stepped back into the room and he followed shortly after, giving you a fleeting gaze before he turned in for the night.

After that conversation, he wasn’t sure how to approach future topics. The days, weeks carried on and you acted as if nothing had changed.

Like you hadn’t just dropped a bomb about past trauma. Now he supposed he understood why you seemed so unfeeling. It wasn’t a choice. You’d probably just been alone way too long to know any different.

He always felt like he was on his own before he met Clark. But that wasn’t true. He was in paradise compared to you. There wasn’t much that he could do to fix it. Even if he prayed for it.

So he just tried to take it all in stride.

“It’s your day off, why are you here?”

You were standing before him with a frown.

“Because I get the feeling that the moment I leave your side you’ll get kidnapped.”

“I think you’re thinking a bit too highly of yourself. I’m just going to the Talon. I’ll be fine.”

At least that was the expectation.

He should have known that statement would come back to bite him in the ass. Not even an hour later he was indeed kidnapped.

Along with Clark.

Apparently some psycho had been threatening Chloe and of course Clark intervened. Caught the guy before he could snag his best friend. Unfortunately Lex saw the altercation and was knocked out alongside Clark.

Lex felt a bit more reassured when he woke up and Chloe wasn’t in the room with him tied to the pole with Clark. If anything, maybe the police had found her and were now looking into their disappearance.

Lex grimaced, because they were in some old building that was littered with meteor rocks. Clark jumped awake with a jolt, but he seemed a bit worse for wear. He immediately started pulling against the rope but it was useless.

“It won’t budge.” He spoke defeatedly.

Lex expected as much.

“Are you hurt anywhere?”

“No I…I don’t think so..”

He still sounded out of it.

“Chloe isn’t here. I think he got spooked and only had a chance to grab both of us.” Clark let out a sigh of relief.

“That’s good.”

Lex was inclined to agree.

“We have a little bit of time. Do you see anything that we can use?”

They were back to back, so they each had limited visuals. Clark shook his head with another groan. Lex was worried, because it sounded like he was in pain.

“Clark, Clark!”

“Looks like you’re finally awake.”

The new voice made them both flinch, and the sight of the barista had Lex glaring. He thought he recognized the man.

“Alex.”

The teen grinned.

“Sorry for the rough treatment. You guys really have bad timing. All that bitch Sullivan had to do was drop the story on my father, but she just kept pushing.”

“I’m sure your dad must be pretty proud of you!” Lex fired.

Taunting the attacker wasn’t smart, but it wasn’t like they had options. The guy was unhinged. Had Clark not intervened he would have killed Chloe. Self control clearly wasn’t a virtue this guy possessed. So maybe he could get him to act impulsively and make a mistake.

“Trust me, he’s proud.”

Lex clenched his jaw, weary when Alex moved closer. Given the strength he possessed, another blow to the head could be the difference between a concussion and a body bag.

“Pretty tough talk for a guy who’s never worked a day in his life.”

Lex kept his eyes hard, ready for just about anything. The sound of glass shattering from above was not the something he was expecting. Alex stood, clearly shocked when a body landed a few feet ahead of him. The residual shards hit the ground and Lex couldn’t have been happier to see your face.

“The hell..” Alex muttered.

Clark couldn’t fully see what was happening. But it must have been big if Alex sounded scared. You straightened from the bent position you were previously in to brace for the fall. Once you were fully upright, Alex glared, still a bit defiant.

“How did you find us?”

He didn’t receive a response, all he heard was the sound of blades unsheathing. That’s when he saw the distinctive metal claws. Three on each hand separated by your knuckles. Your legs were parted in a manner that looked battle ready and when you charged, he didn’t expect the speed of your tackle.

Your hands and legs skated against the floor as if you were an animal tracking its prey and he lifted his hands defensively when you struck. Your right fist went to his thigh and he screamed when the claws connected. He was about to deliver a punch, but you stopped it with ease. His eyes were wide as you leaned back slightly and head butted him. His body caved like a tree. Nothing but the loud thud within the space. With a grunt, you retract your claws from his leg.

That little angry look was still planted on your face and Lex realized that he never appreciated it more.

You just glared at him.

“I knew you would get kidnapped.”

“Great to see you too.” He offered with a laugh.

The ambulance and cops came after.

Alex had been ranting about your abilities the entire time they were taking him away. Everyone present just chalked it up to insanity. The moment you were out of the building Clark seemed better and you were standing next to the ambulance as they checked Lex.

Overall he seemed okay, and when the medic stepped aside, Lex sent you a smile.

“I might just have to raise your pay again if you keep saving me.”

“I won’t complain.”

Lex chuckled and you finally looked him over. Aside from the bruise on his head, he seemed fine.

“If you get killed I’m out of a job. Be more careful.”

Lex couldn’t help but appreciate the sentiment. You weren’t that good with the emotional factor. But he understood the hidden message behind those words.

“I’ll do my best.”

At that time, it felt like things between the both of you had once again settled.

Amazon (Smallville) : Short Story - Chapter 3

It’s one of those slow evenings that Lex is entertaining a certain farm boy.

“You seem to be getting along with Ms. Prince much better. I haven’t heard you complain about her in a while.”

Lex had stopped by the Talon and ran into Clark. So now they're both seated at a table as Clark informs Lex of all his school activities.

“I think we’ve finally found common ground.” Clark informs.

Lex nods.

“So when do you plan to tell her about your crush?”

Clark sputters.

“Who said anything about a crush!”

Lex laughs.

“Because it’s obvious. Any woman that drives you that crazy, well there is usually a reason.”

Clark directs his eyes back at his textbook.

Lana walks over when she spots the pair.

“Lex, Clark.”

Lex lifts his head with a wave and Clark smiles.

“Hey Lana.”

“What can I get you two?”

“The usual.” Clark states, Lex says the same.

“I heard there was a fight here last time, is everything okay?” Lex inquires.

Lana nods.

“Some of the football players can get rowdy. One of them was harassing the waitresses but we actually found someone to help with the problem. I haven’t had an issue since.”

“So you got a body guard.” Lex concludes.

Lana simply laughs.

“Something like that. Oh, there she is now.”

Lana waves excitedly and the female walks over.

When they spot you, Clark looks a bit surprised.

“This is (Y/N).”

Lex’s smile widens.

“Oh, we’re well acquainted. "

You give a little nod.

“Hey Clark, Mr. Luthor.”

Your expression settles to the usual stoic state.

“You’ve all met?”

“Yes. Clark and I worked on a project together and Lex is doing an initiative with Diana.”

Now it all makes sense.

“So you’re freelancing as a security detail.” Lex asks.

“Obnoxious males irritate me.”

Clark just lets out an awkward laugh. You quirk a brow at his strange behavior.

“I have to get back to work. Enjoy your evening.”

You walk away and Lana wears a little smile.

“I can’t really read her. She’s a bit of a mystery. But she’s really sweet and she does a good job.” Lana comments.

Clark is a bit distracted. Seeing your serious face with that apron on is cute.

“Wouldn’t you agree? Clark?”

He blinks, tuning back in. Lex says nothing, just sends Clark a knowing look.

Clark is too much of an open book.

The week seems to be awfully calm.

Your shifts at the Talon are quiet and you know it has to do with the newfound fear that you’ve instilled in the football players. They’ve been on their best behavior since you floored the linebacker who was causing a commotion on your first day there.

What you’ve noticed is that Clark and his friends have been coming in quite regularly. You sort of like the fact that you get to see him so often. Not all your classes crossover. So you only see him on certain days that you share periods together. Outside of school you’re either at the Talon or helping Diana in any way you can.

That evening as you’re getting off, you see Clark moving to the counter.

“Is your shift over?”

You nod.

“Yes, I just need to clock out with Lana. “

“I can give you a ride home.”

“Okay, give me a few minutes.”

So he does.

When he sees you again, you have your bag ready to go. Clark guides you to the door, opening it as you step out.

“My truck is a few blocks down.”

You nod, adjusting your strap as you both head down the street.

It’s nice to have someone around who you don’t need to have a filter around. Clark is also protective by nature as you’ve learned. That must be the reason he’s been hanging around so often.

“You don’t have to keep looking out for me Clark.”

His steps slow just a bit and you don’t miss the little expression that crosses his face. Like he’s been caught. It's sweet that he’s being so thoughtful. Given what you’re capable of, he really has no reason to worry.

“I’ve never said this but I think it’s very noble what you do. You protect your friends and others and take no credit. Diana told me you saved Mr. Luthor in that car accident.”

“Anyone would have done the same.”

You reach for his sleeve and he stops altogether at the tug.

“That’s not true. It seems your selfless nature is tied to your modesty. I suppose my mother was right. Kryptonians are a special kind.”

You offer a smile. Clark knows more than anything that it’s rare. He’s so used to your stoic expressions that when he sees the lighter ones it makes his heart race just a bit quicker.

“I'm glad that we were able to become friends, Clark.”

You were wrong about a lot of things, but you can’t help but feel a bit happy that you were truly wrong about how you viewed him.
