Just experimenting with stuff.
Sure, the non-diagetic reason the heroes are always young is because it's a kids game. But uh. If I were in that world I'd be wondering why I rarely hear of them as adults! That's concerning!
Anyways poor Zelda has just sent this idiot straight into the danger from her vision and now Majora's Mask is gonna happen. Whoops!
Impa totally saw but she's not stupid, most of her career is going to be under queen Zelda, not the current king, so she's not going to make her an enemy now by killing her weird forest friend.
OoT Link and Zelda have a weird relationship in Bad Moon. They're both looking at each other and seeing someone else. Link seeing Sheik, and Zelda seeing the boy in green before all the trauma. Zelda never quite gets the real life experience Sheik does and while compassionate, is still nobility and loyal to that. She becomes a fearsome politician in lieu of a stealthy genderfluid ninja. Link on the other hand gets increasingly paranoid and weird as time goes on, all innocence lost. He's a huge problem at the castle, and is much better off working at Malon's ranch and only being called in for emergencies.
They both know that they're a danger to the other, and spend most of their lives tiptoeing politely around each other, remembering the person they used to know.

OOT Zelink is possible after Majora's Mask (theory 2024)
We don't really know what happened after MM so everything is possible until Nintendo denies it so here is my theory:
Everyone thinks that the only place Link could go after his trip through Termina is Lon Lon Ranch, but what if not? After all the last memories he had were about Zelda wishing she could meet Link again, she was THE ONLY PERSON who actually waited for him after his trip. THIS IS IMPORTANT!!
Tumblr media
So after his trip he goes to Zelda and tells her everything that happened to him, she believes him, in fact she might be the only person who believes him because he believed her when she had her visions of Ganondorf.
Link does not necessarily have to have worked on the ranch, there are many other jobs in castle town, I would like to think that he got a job near the castle so he could continue meeting Zelda.
As the years go by their relationship becomes even closer, unfortunately Zelda has to marry someone else so Link decides to continue his life without her. He meets someone else and they get along well, he decides to rebuild his life and marries that woman (Maybe that's why Nintendo never said with whom he had a child, because it was probably with a random woman we don't even know lmao). He has a daughter (I would like to think he has a girl) and thinks she is the most important thing he has now in his life.
Zelda does not love her husband but by the laws of nobility she has to give him an heir. Zelda becomes pregnant and although she does not love her husband, she loves her baby. She thinks it is the most important thing she has in her life now.
Link and Zelda rarely communicate because they already have priorities to maintain (each one with their children).
If you notice this is where the lineage of TP Link and TP Zelda is born!
As fate would have it Link's marriage doesn't work out and he gets divorced or she leaves him with his daughter.
The king passes away.
Do you see where I'm going with all this?
Zelda as queen can do whatever she wants now, so she goes to visit Link after so long. They both talk about their lives and realize they still have romantic feelings for each other. Zelda offers Link to be her personal knight and he unhesitatingly accepts, she gives him a special armor (the armor we see in Twilight Princess).
He becomes her prince consort.
However they have no children or maybe they had one but that son never had descendants Take it as you wish!
We don't know how exactly Link died, but everything points to the fact that he died in a war and lost his eye. Maybe he knew he wouldn't survive and that's why he went to the Lost Forest, dying there and regretting not having taught his techniques, so his spirit stays there until the other chosen one arrives to teach him his techniques.
Zelda is widowed again, that's why we see Link's grave in the castle graveyard in Twilight Princess (like why would his grave be in the castle?)
Years go by and both Link's daughter and Zelda's child grow up. Link's daughter decides to leave the castle and make her life elsewhere, she takes Epona with her, playing the song that HER FATHER taught her (because it is not necessary for Link to have married Malon to learn Epona's song)
Zelda's child takes the throne once she dies.
So with this we have the birth of TP Link and TP Zelda many years later. The reason I don't support the Link and Malon theory is because I find many inconsistencies: TP Link is an orphan, he lives in a tree not in the ranch (he doesn't even own it, the ranch belongs to Fado and he is a human) Link is the only Hylian in Ordon. It's probably that Jaggle or Pergie are descendants of Malon bc their sons are named Malo and Talo (probably she married a human knight or probably Nintendo just put those names bc yes lol)
Also remember Sheik's words? Young love become deep affection Link and Zelda spent time together before Link went on a trip to Termina, I think these words are a reference to them, how much they care about each other ♡
Of course these are my thoughts, you may agree or disagree with me!

ii. arranged
He strides in, holding a pot of tea on an ornate silver tray that gleams in the warm light.
'Oh, no!' the queen chuckles. 'He's our teaboy. He quite likes to dress up, my ladies in waiting tell me he's quite the charmer.' You let out a shaky breath. You like the queen, she's sweet and seems to have an excellent relationship with her people. The king, too, is nothing but jovial. If you're to marry Wriothesley, at least his family is nice, and the rumours say he is too.
'No, that's Wriothesley.'
He's more ethereal than you ever could have thought. Ebony hair streaked through with silver and wearing a grey suit accented with a crimson tie, he was the most beautiful thing you'd ever seen. His smile, radiant enough to light up the whole kingdom, and his sweet dimples that just made him seem all the more handsome. Black studs glinted in both of his ears, giving off the impression of someone tough, but with that grin you couldn't see him as anything other than the sweetheart everyone said he was. And he's walking over to you. Uh-oh.
He takes a seat next to you on the couch, chuckling softly and aplogising for being late. He looks even more ravishing from here, and as he turns to you, you quickly turn around, suddenly very interested in your tea.
'Hello darling. Thought I was going to have to remind you to close your mouth.'
The side eye you give him was devastating. He snickers quietly at your switch up, then speaks in a rich, deep tone.
'Mother, Father, Queen Eliana, King Richard. May I take me bride-to-be on a little walk?'
Your mother giggles daintily, and your father nods his approval. As quickly as he sat down, Wriothesley stands back up and offers you a gloved hand. You take it, and your mother shoots you a glance that's both a warning and a knowing smirk at the same time.
'Shall we?'
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The garden is absolutely dreary. Winter has hit Emeia hard, and the leaves have abandoned the fingers of the trees which arch longingly for summer. Icy white roses still bloom in early winter, and you admire their sweet aroma as you stroll around the path with Wriothesley. He's surprisingly easy to talk to, and you find yourself laughing a lot more than you thought you would, ladylike manners and covering your mouth be damned. It starts getting dark and the cold caress of the breeze makes you shiver. Wriothesley, being the gentleman he is, notices, and offers you his coat.
'No, I'm okay thanks. I think we should head inside then. And... thanks for tonight, Wrio.'
He smiles.
'Wrio, huh? I like that name.'

ok but know I need you to Tell Me Things about the Zeldas. all of them. I am literally*bouncing*.
(I love how both your TP Link and Zelda have RBF. they have truly Had It)
HEHE sorry i held onto this ask until I had all the Zelda designs posted, and then I,,,forgot to do that lol.
some Bonus Zelda thoughts! some of this i've maybe said before idk:
ALTTP Zelda
her armor is more ceremonial than practical. While I didn't give this to every Queen Zelda, I liked the idea of the princess's pauldrons progressing to more plate armor in the queen's dress. That's also why I changed her color scheme to blue to differentiate from the princess' pink (exceptions for this being HW Zelda who wears red as queen, ST Zelda who still wears pink as queen and BOTW Zelda who wore blue as princess)
anyway. she's more of a scholar than a warrior but she still has killer aim with a bow
her pet project has been recovering, restoring, and filling in the gaps of the royal library and archive. Mage helps her out with this as he has a knack for stumbling upon forgotten ancient texts in his travels
A lot of ppl assume she's rather prim or austere but she's actually got a lot of whimsy and humor in her. It's why she and Mage get along so well :D
She lets Mage get away with a lot of shenanigans and keeps the royal guard from arresting his ass all the time
if mage is ur weird uncle she's like. ur cool aunt
Tetra
she's still sailing the seas with her crew!
she and Wake have had a bit of a falling out though, partially over disagreements about searching for New Hyrule, and have gone their separate ways for now. There's not any real animosity between them, just like,,,frustration. They'd still do anything for each other.
She's got 2 pistols and a cutlass and she knows how to use them
She could bench press Wake. easily.
She's brash and commands a lot of respect but she's also a lot of fun to be around. She's brutally honest and says what's on her mind.
I think she still feels a lot of confusion and frustration about the revelations about her lineage and the role King Daphnes seemed to force on her because of it. She doesn't want much to do with what the divine. She values the freedom sailing on the sea gives her.
TP Zelda
she's. so tired. a lot of the responsibility of rebuilding the kingdom has fallen squarely on her shoulders. She's holding shit together by a thread but by god is she holding it together.
Looks pretty cold and unapproachable but she has a kind heart. She cares deeply for the people of her kingdom. She would sacrifice a lot for them and already has.
Never relaxes. Works like 24/7. get this girl a hobby
Midzel canon. Midna also had a thing with Link but it wasn't a polycule more of a this is my girlfriend Midna and this is Midna's boyfriend Link kind of a situation. Anyway she misses Midna.
Wolf and Zelda are like. coworkers. They haven't really gotten any closer in the aftermath of everything. Wolf wants nothing to do with playing the role of the hero in a political sense like Zelda keeps asking him to. I don't think Zelda necessarily blames him for escaping that responsibility, but she Is frustrated she doesn't have that luxury.
MC Zelda
a little cutie!! very bubbly and extroverted and curious about the world. She spends a lot of time outside of the castle running around with Mini. The King is so glad she's safe after everything he still just lets her do whatever she wants lol
She used to be the one dragging Mini into shenanigans all the time but he's gained a lot of confidence over his quest and is less timid now. now they are equally engaging in shenanigans
Hangs out with Malon too!! The three of them are besties
I like to think she can also still see the minish even if she can't shrink down to their size. she thinks they're so cute. Maybe mini gives her a jabbernut so she can speak to them too :-)
She helps Mini build his fucked up little trash robots. She also pretties them up with paint
scolded by castle staff frequently for getting grass stains and dirt on her nice clothes lol. She probably isn't usually running around in her full princess garb though.
Like Mini, has mostly refused to process most of what happened to her and is just trying to enjoy life.
Prince Zel
I went back and forth about whether or not I wanted to go with naming him Sheik or not. I decided against it since this is the version of him that never had to become Sheik. He keeps Zelda as a legacy name and shortens it to Zel most of the time.
Pretty lonely in the castle without many friends his age. He desperately wants to be better friends with Mask but is mostly rebuffed.
Even though he doesn't have to become Sheik in this timeline, I think he has begun training with Impa. Just under a lot less duress
Still occasionally has prophetic visions but has become somewhat hesitant about sharing them. I think he understands a little more of what went on in other timelines than he lets on, but he doesn't know or put together all of it.
Often described as odd or intense or standoffish by ppl who meet him but he can be really chatty and lively under the right circumstances
HW Zelda
Her armor is also mostly ceremonial, even though she's definitely more of a warrior queen. She and War are both dressed to project 'peace time' and 'prosperity'. She has other sets of armor that are more suited for combat.
She and War are a lot alike, calculating and cunning, which is why they understand each other. It's also why they're often at each other's throats. They're not really above backstabbing each other, though has Queen she has a lot more leverage.
She's not exactly warm or particularly kind, but she does care about the safety of the Kingdom.
Also never relaxes and works like 24/7
Constantly dealing with a tense, power-hungry and antagonistic court looking to undermine her authority. She has her own private ambitions she's working towards.
ALBW Zelda
She's a really charming and fun person! very down to earth as Queen and a lot more willing to eschew tradition.
She comes across as carefree but she's been ruling Hyrule by herself since she was young and has been subject to a lot of pressure. She had to grow up pretty fast and is wiser than she seems at first glance. She has her court and the people's respect.
She and Mirror share an interest in fashion and the arts. They're,,, they're both theatre kids.
I don't have a lot of other headcanons abt her yet sorry but. i love her
ST Zelda
Has been crowned Queen at the ripe old age of 16 because the last time they appointed a chancellor he turned out to be a demon who stole her body. so
She does not feel ready to be Queen at all but she's doing her best. She's determined not to let anybody push her around again.
She's taken an interest in learning how to fight after the events of spirit tracks. She never wants to feel as helpless as she did then, trapped as a ghost outside her body. Also she really enjoyed hitting things with a giant sword in her big phantom armor. She's become a much better swordsman than Spirit ever was lol
She specifically requested her own suit of armor to mimic the phantom armor
she's pretty protective of Spirit
BOTW Zelda
I think she was conscious for all 103 of those years fighting ganon, even if it seems somewhat blurry and surreal to her now. She remembers it in fits and bursts. She often feels disconnected from her body.
She has no interest in reviving the monarchy or ruling over Hyrule again. However she does have an interest in rebuilding Hylian towns and helping all of Hyrule recover. She still feels like it's her responsibility, not because of her role as princess, but because of what she perceives as her own failure to avert tragedy.
she doesn't just blame herself though- she blames the gods and her father too.
Right now though she's mostly taking a break to get her bearings and recover from 103 years of endless fighting. She and Slate travelled around Hyrule for a while at first, and now she's settled in Hateno trying to figure out how to be normal again. Some rebuilding efforts have already started spearheaded by Hudson and she helps out with those.
SKSW Zelda
honestly not even she is sure what parts of her are herself and what parts are hylia. it's as disconcerting for her as it is for Loft. She's both frustrated that he looks at her differently now and understands completely why he does. She still wishes he wouldn't.
she remembers more about being the goddess than she necessarily lets on
she's really invested in the settlement on the surface and is basically its unofficial leader. she puts a lot of time and effort into making sure everything is going according to plan and that they have everything they need to keep living on the surface
she's protective of Loft and worries a lot for him. She blames herself for a lot of what he struggles with now and wants to make it better.
she's not the fun police though, she likes a death-defying loftwing stunt as much as the next person
she did become a knight after the events of skyward sword! They don't really wear the uniforms down on the surface much anymore though and it's become less of a formal order while everyone focuses on building and improving the village.
She's been working on her swordsmanship
I think she really loves music and singing

Ooh, how about Legend of Zelda Princess and the Pauper AU, and/or Sunflowers?
-Sky Floor
Hehehe >:3
Princess and the Pauper AU (super excited about this one tbh)
Basically the Barbie movie in Legend of Zelda context. Princess Annaliese is BotW Zelda, Erika is Malon, Julian is BotW Link and King Dominic is OoT Link. Then Preminger is Ghirahim and his two henchmen are two of the bosses in Skyward Sword, but all I have in this doc is the first "chapter" which is basically part of the opening number XD
“Oh, we’re late, late, late!” Chancellor Cole said. “We’ve got twenty maximum— twenty-two minutes, for your royal fitting then it’s move, move, move, to your speech at the historical society! After that we have to rush and I mean rush! To the Horticultural Society Tea, and then there’s your math lessons, your geography lessons, your science lessons. . .” Zelda drowned out the rest of the chancellor’s ramblings as she focused on the bouquet in her hands. It was going to be fine, she told herself. It was all going to be fine. She looked up at the wall-length mirror she stood in front of. Seamstresses gathered around the hem of her dress, finalizing the last of the stitching. The dress was everything that she had imagined in a wedding dress: white with pink and gold accents. She should have been feeling happy, or excited. What else should she be feeling on the days leading up to her marriage? But things weren’t like what she imagined they would be. She lowered the bouquet, handing it to one of the waiting maids. The seamstresses were just about done when Zelda lifted up her skirts and walked over to the balcony. She took in a deep breath of the fresh crispness of the air. The only feeling of freedom that she is close to getting these days. As her wedding was drawing closer and closer, it seems the less and less she got. She chuckled slightly to herself. How selfish she was. She was a princess, destined to fulfill the responsibilities no one wants. It was her duty to be in certain places when asked, to smile and never complain, to know everything and be there for everyone. If not her, then who? Princess Zelda reached the edge of the balcony, looking down into the castle courtyard. Guards patrolled the labyrinth hedges, taking their duties too seriously. She smiled, recognizing one guard dressed in a different uniform. He always patrolled the side of the castle where Princess Zelda lived, if he was not close by attending to his bodyguard duties. Link passed into view, looking as stoic as ever. He noticed from the corner of his eye the princess’s watchful gaze, then suddenly straightened his posture, snapping his hands behind his back. Very exaggerated, he walked without bending his knees, scrunching his face in mock seriousness. Zelda burst out laughing. It seemed like magic, how he always seemed to know how the princess was feeling all of the time. It was one of the characteristics she loved about him. “Having fun, are we?” asked a voice. Zelda snapped her attention behind her. The queen stood there, her expression ladened with age and worry. Her mouth turned up into a tired smile, seeing Zelda’s rosy cheeks fading to normal. “I know how you feel about your bodyguard, but it is vital that you marry King Link. It’s the only way to take care of our people.” “I know, it’s my duty,” Zelda sighed. It felt uncomfortable, how the name of her fiance carried the same name as the man she loves, despite being two completely separate people. It made her feel even more like a traitor, despite her Link knowing the circumstance. “Oh, look!” the queen said, turning back towards Zelda’s room. “Another engagement gift has arrived!”
Sunflowers
It was tradition that after a ceremony was completed, the royal family would be paraded around Castle Town. This time it was just Zelda, atop of her white steed as if she was some prize that all of Hyrule needed to see. (Well, she wasn’t completely alone; she had the company of a dozen or so guards separating her and the crowd of onlookers, plus the champions, but they hardly counted.) Hylians and visiting races looked up at the princess with wide, disbelieving eyes, as if this was the one destined to save all of Hyrule. This pathetic excuse for a princess. If there were any admiration in their eyes, it would be towards him. The knight who carried the sword of destiny upon his back. She tried to ignore him, but ever since they left the castle grounds he had kept his eyes on her. Never leaving. Never faltering. Not even when she had twisted back and glared at him did he ever release his gaze. He never even spared her the humiliation when he didn’t turn away to pretend he wasn’t looking. It was dreadful. The captain of her entourage of guards looked back, then raised a fist to stop. Zelda pulled the reins on Storm, to which he gave an unpleasant nicker. What’s the meaning of this? Zelda thought. She turned back, only to see the champions clustered around something. Someone? From between the slim forms of Mipha and Urbosa, Zelda could see Link. He was balancing on his toes, sitting on his ankles, face-to-face with a young girl. The young girl was squealing, grinning up at each of the five champions. She handed Link a bundle of something, then whispered in his ear. He nodded, before standing up and patting the young girl on the head. She caught the murmured “awe”s among the parents, seeing the girl in such a smile that if it were possible she might possibly explode. The champions resumed their positions, each murmuring about what happened. Revali was no doubt complaining, but Mipha was giggling; a blush fading from her pale face. Urbosa and Daruk were smiling as well, talking to each other. Link was as silent as ever, walking alone in front of the four champions. But in his hands was something odd. Six sunflowers tied together with a blue ribbon. Zelda shouldn’t be surprised. Sunflowers were common among Hyrule Field. So it would be expected that people would pick them. But what struck her as odd was why Link would stop for a child, and then accept such a common gift. Especially now, in the middle of the parade? Upon deeper reflection, she could see why. He’s putting up an act, just like her. Only he was better, gaining favor with the common people. That must be why they love him so much. She flicked Storm’s reins, and the white horse trotted forward, leaving behind the feeling of emptiness starting to develop in her stomach.

The Tortured Poets Department - Taylor Swift (Part 1)
I’ll be posting 8 songs at a time to break this lengthy album up a bit.
Initial thoughts: She’s raw and unfiltered in a way she hasn’t been before.
But Daddy I Love Him and Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me are the immediate insane stand outs
The Black Dog? 🤮 CoSoSoM? 🫨 how did it end? Drag meeee for being nosy.
1. Fortnight (feat. Post Malone)- This is a very interesting introductory track/lead single. There’s some blending of (as far as we know) truth and fiction, which i think stays throughout the album. However, there’s not a ton for me lyrically or sonically for me to connect to here. The missing rhyme scheme in the first lines is distracting. I would have liked a little more Post Malone overall and a bit more duetting. I’m sure there’s some symbolism in their voices rarely overlapping in meaningful ways, but the hints of it we get sound good, and I want MORE. 3/5
Best Line: “All my mornings are Mondays stuck in an endless February. I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary.”
2. The Tortured Poets Department- I like the sound of this, the melodies, most of the cheeky humor (“I think things I never say, like ‘Who uses typewriters anyway?’”), but the Charlie Puth and Golden Retriever lines really ruin it for me. They totally take me out of the vibe and are distractingly out of pocket. 2/5
Best Line: I like the “I’ve seen/read” lines in the pre-chorus, but the unhinged-ness of putting something as raw and exposed as, “But you told Lucy you'd kill yourself if I ever leave. And I had said that to Jack about you, so I felt seen” in a public space really sets the tone of the album.
3. My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys- I love her echo-y, layered vocals. Her cadence sounds like war drums that really fits the toy soldier metaphor. I think some slight production tweaks would have really taken it over the top. The vocals sound so cool, but there’s still room for a little more than a thwacking drum machine and a hint of sparkly synth. 3/5
Best Line: I love “I’m queen of sandcastles he destroys”. Runner up goes to “‘Cause you should’ve seen him when he first ✨saw✨me”.
4. Down Bad- I love the alien abduction theme and the trippy production to match. The dichotomy of the space-y verses and daily-life drudgery of the chorus works on a metaphoric and Down bad crying at the gym? The self awareness to call it teenage petulance before just saying “fuck it”? People not getting that Miss Swift is sometimes jealous king around and doesn’t take herself seriously 100% off the time will never make sense to me. 4/5
Best Line: “Did you really beam me up, in a cloud of sparkling dust?”
5. So Long, London- once the beat comes in, we’re off to the races and you can’t quite catch your breath through this whole song, especially with the gut-punching lyrics. A beautiful arrangement from Aaron Dessner here that effortlessly carries the weight of anger and heartbreak. 5/5
Best line: “And you say I abandoned the ship, but I was going down with it, my white knuckle dying grip.”
6. But Daddy, I Love Him- I love everything about this song. It sounds like a sunny, summer day. Maybe the narrator is a little delusional, but whomst amongst us hasn’t been? The bridge telling people off a bit is a great moment for her. “I’ll tell you something about my good name, it’s mine alone to disgrace,” feels like something she’s needed to say for a while. 5/5
Best line: there’s a lot of great moments, but, “I’m having his baby. No, I’m not, but you should see your faces” is such a hilarious double-take moment upon first listen that it has to take the crown.
7. Fresh Out the Slammer- I have seen the steaming numbers and y’all are SLEEPING on this track! It’s sad, it’s wistful, it’s a little sexy, it’s everything. I love the rolling cadence of the verses and the slower, haunting choruses. The decelerating outro is perfection. 5/5
Best line: “Now, pretty baby, I'm running back home to you. Fresh out the slammer, I know who my first call will be to”.
8. Florida!!! (Ft. Florence and the Machine) - Florida has committed various atrocities on the people of the United States of America, but this is absolutely not one of them. A song of escapism, ghosts, and a banging drum chorus that earns those three exclamation points. Hurricane Florence is a beautiful addition to the track and it wouldn’t sound out of place on an album of hers either. Every line of this is an earworm that you’ll catch h yourself singing over and over again. Fuck me up, Florida (!!!), indeed. 5/5
Best Line: “Barricaded in the bathroom with a bottle of wine. Well me and my ghosts, we had a hell of a time.”

[ID: A digital illustration of the Vault Boy condition image from the PipBoy 3000, a glowing green outlined figure on a dark screen with health metre indicators for head, body and each limb. Rather than the regular coverall-clothed guy, the figure is an outline of Garfield. All health indicators are full and he is smiling. Text below him reads "April 2024 - Level 41." End ID.]
A show came out for a game I've thought about 3-7 times every week for the past nine years and I've been completely normal about it. In my birthday month too! It influenced the playlist cover more than the contents, which are all indulgent as should be for a birthday month playlist. A lot of Carly Rae Jepsen this month, thanks to using her song titles as prompts for Storytelling Collective's April Daily Poem challenge (see results here). Two hours and 33 minutes but despite how I love playing with the length I shan't drop a one of these tracks to get to my birthday-day. Close enough, I say!
Related media to some of the songs:
'Two of Hearts' was in my mind thanks to a random video I'd encountered about the "I-I-I-I-I" sample in 'Groove Is in the Heart' by Deee-Lite, summarised over at Laughing Squid.
'Harder' was Medusa's I think birthday month track and had been out on Bandcamp for a bit but finally wended its way to Spotify, allowing me to drop it into a playlist. Their music is always a mood. They also have an At-Cost collection of merch specifically to make things available to more folks, with the option to pay it forward as well.
The way things go I think songs from a playlist I picked up from a Fallout: New Vegas fan artist are in May but heck there's a Nancy Sinatra on here so why not share now, 'Atomic Cocktail' is a very long, vibes-based playlist that is great to have going in the background.

Royalty au headcanons pretty please?
OKAY okay so I tried giving headcanons and ended up explaining my own royal Au that I haven’t wrote so hope this suffices
The Zelda’s and the Link’s are two separate royal families, but not all the Links royal.
Hylia is the queen and mother of the princess Zeldas and the King and father of all the Links is First (from the manga)
Currently the princes are (in order of oldest to youngest) we have Sky and Hyrule (twins), Twilight, Legend, Four and then Wind. Wind runs off with Tetra to become pirates, Sky is kidnapped as a child and raised in a commoner family, and is not aware he is a prince. Then we have the royal guard, which consists of (surprise surprise!) Sky, Warriors, Time (Who is almost retired) along with Wild, who is allowed to retire thanks to a severe injury he sustained but chooses not to, cause he enjoys working with his uncle Wars and (adoptive) father Time.
Time is married to the stable hand at the castle, Malon. Wild had friends and family, then his family dies and is adopted by Time and Malon, but at least his friends are alive! Revali is his childhood rival, Daruk is his mentor, Urbosa is from the kingdom in which the Zeldas reside, but stops by every once and a while and helped with Links training, and Mipha is a family friend. Good thing they’re alive!
Wait
Nevermind.
Wind and Tetra form a pirate crew and give the rest of the Links collective heart attacks. Time is like Twilights second father. Wild still has memory loss but still retained all his fighting skills and muscle memory. Legend runs off every night out of boredom, then he gets kidnapped and has several crazy adventures, falls in love with a girl on an island named Marin, he does the thing with the windfish and then he wakes up at the castle and is traumatized and heartbroken. Also Twilight fell in love with Midna and now Midna is missing and he can transform into a wolf, but only Legend, Wild, Sky and Warriors know (because ofc the knights would find out and Legend is just smart)
Now onto the Zelda’s, we have Lullaby, Sun, Artemis, Dusk, Dawn and Aurora, Flora, Dot, and Tetra!
Tetra, as you know, ran off with Wind. Flora is studying to become a scientist with the help of Purah and Robbie (who are their AoC ages) Artemis is in charge of the royal guard of their kingdom, Impa is a member of the royal guard (Skyward sword, BOTW/AoC, Hyrule Warriors, those impas, who all have undecided nicknames)
Okay I’ve rambled enough, idek if this counts as headcanons tbh

30 Day Song(fic) Challenge: Day 10
Good evening! I'm officially a third of the way through this challenge, and I have to say, I am learning a lot. I'm also writing more varied ships than I ever have before, which is super fun!
Today's prompt for my Song(fic) Challenge was "A song you never get tired of", for which there could only ever be one true contender. You see, back in the summer of 2018, I had a phase where I listened to the song "As the World Falls Down" by David Bowie (from the movie Labyrinth) on repeat for literally hours every day for months straight. It was ridiculous, and it proved that I truly could never get tired of that song.
A note on this one! In this fic, Sheik is genderfluid. I am not genderfluid myself, so if my characterization is off or in some way disrespectful, please feel free to give concrit in the comments!
A Love that Lasts a Lifetime
Game: Ocarina of Time, post-canon, adult timeline
Pairing: Sheik/Malon
Word Count: 1525
Keywords: romance, yearning while dancing, angst
Jagged breaths puffed into Malon’s face, blowing back the flyaways that had come free of her crown of braids. Tears tracked down Sheik’s own cheeks. Malon wanted more than anything to wipe them away, but the terror that breaking from their dance would shatter the moment kept her frozen in their slow spiral.  “You can give me a love that lasts a lifetime,” Sheik whispered.
Read the fic on Ao3, or under the cut!
It was the fourth ball in as many moons. Malon would’ve thought the expense extravagant, overly-indulgent, but Sheik had been putting twice as much of the royal coffers—what remained of them, anyway—into helping the people with evacuations, building a new fleet of ships so each town could have at least one, and providing provisions for any citizen, regardless of whether or not they planned to flee Hyrule. She’d asked Sheik, during a break between breathless reels during the third ball, why he was putting so much effort towards such frivolous things.
“Because the people have so little to hope for, and so little time remaining before their lives change forever. I want to give them something frivolous and dazzling to look forward to and enjoy.”
His sentiment was beautiful, the words altruistic. But Malon knew they were at least partially fueled by guilt. Because on another evening, when Malon and Sheik had sat beside one another on a castle balcony in their nightgowns, on a rare night between rainstorms, she had told Malon that it was her fault. That the goddesses were flooding the world because there was no hero. And that there was no hero because she had sent him back in time.
The words had poured out through helpless sobs. All Sheik had wanted at the time was to let her lover escape the trauma he’d been put through in this broken Hyrule, to free him from the yoke of rebuilding after everything else he’d done. She’d thought that evil surely wouldn’t rise again in her lifetime; after everything, it ought to have been sealed away for a generation or more, and the worst she’d have to deal with would be the desperate poverty of the citizenry and her own lack of political training.
And yet, here they were, with darkness, and the water sent to quench it, already rising.
And here Malon was, holding Sheik in her arms as they danced.
Hyrule’s leader was stunning that night. Malon had always thought so, even when Sheik was nothing more to her than a skinny sixteen-year-old boy, knocking on the barn door with an offer to trade news of the world outside the farm’s fences for milk and company. Now, as the de facto leader of their broken kingdom—although not the Queen, never the Queen, or King for that matter—spun out from Malon and back, the sea foam green of her last remaining dress contrasting beautifully against her strawberry blonde hair.
Malon just had to pretend not to notice the irony of the watery dress swirling around Sheik’s ankles like the incoming tide, and the moment would be perfect.
The band was little more than a wind quintet, with the addition of a single frazzled percussionist trying to cover every part at once. The size of each ensemble had dwindled alongside the elegance of the decor and the number of attendees. That evening’s ball had only the ballroom’s intrinsic architectural opulence and majesty to dazzle its few dozen guests—a far cry from the first, which had been packed to the brim with hundreds of attendees from every possible background.
As if reading her thoughts—or perhaps simply following Malons gaze around the room—Sheik murmured, “My father would be so ashamed, if he could see where we are now.”
Malon’s hand clenched on Sheik’s waist for a nearly imperceptible moment. “Your father could do no better than you have, put in the same situation. And if he tried to judge you for your kindness and persistence, I would be the first to throw him out.”
Sheik laughed lowly, and then sighed. “Perhaps you’re right. It does no good to dwell on it, regardless.”
Mirrored by dancing couples all around, she dipped Malon back, and gently pulled her back upright. Through it all, Malon couldn’t look away from Sheik’s eyes. One blue, one red. Two priceless jewels, gleaming with melancholy.
Malon couldn’t remember a time Sheik’s eyes hadn’t held that reserved sadness. At their first meeting, she had imagined it to be loneliness; after learning of Sheik’s true identity, she’d thought it loss; when Sheik had crumpled into her arms with the weeping words that Link was gone, never to return, she’d known it heartbreak; as he received the first dream from the goddesses of what was to come, she’d seen it to be despair. And through all the shades of Sheik’s sadness, Malon stayed by their side: first as an uncommon companion, then as a loyal confidante, and later, as the years passed, as an unspoken beau.
To love Sheik was to hold their sadness in the palm of your hand, and offer them a warm place to store their smiles.
The dancers paused, upright, to applaud as the sextet finished the piece. They truly were talented. Malon wasn’t sure why they had decided to go down with the ship of their kingdom—or at least remain with it even this far into the flooding—rather than boarding one that could keep them safe, but she found herself grateful for their choice.
The string bass thrummed them into a waltz. Or perhaps merely an odd slow dance—the tempo was slow and measured, the sound dreamy, but Malon counted four beats to a measure rather than the standard three.
Whatever it was, she liked it. If she were a song, she’d be an odd one, too.
She felt Sheik draw closer. “You’re humming. Did you know?”
Malon had not.
“It’s charming. I love your musicality.” Sheik paused, and added, wistfully, “It’s been a very long time since I heard you sing.”
“Has it?” Malon was shocked. Was she really so departed from the girl who would sing in the horse pastures every night until the moon was high overhead? “I like singing for you. You would only need to ask.”
“That’s precisely why I haven’t. How could I ask for more than you’ve already given me?”
The melancholy in Sheik’s gaze was stronger now, mixed with something Malon feared to name, and ached for in equal measure. It was a knife twisting below her ribs, the caress of a feather on her cheek.
They’d been dancing around far more than a ballroom for so long.
Malon took a breath, and felt it catch in the tightness of her throat. “You know, they say the moon controls the tides.”
Sheik’s brows furrowed in amused puzzlement at the non sequitur. “I have heard that, yes.” She paused, and her mouth twisted wry and razor-sharp. “Do you think the moon is the one doing the goddess’s bidding, hailing the Flood?”
Dammit, that was not what Malon was trying to lead to. “If it is, it’s a traitor.”
Sheik’s responding hum was light and noncommittal. Malon could have screamed. Instead, she smiled, and effortlessly switched the flow of their movements so she was the one leading their dance. Sheik’s lips curved in surprise, and then affection.
With Malon in the lead, she widened their circle until they were at the very edge of the room, beside the glass doors that would lead to the balcony, if they hadn’t been closed against yet another torrential downpour. The sound of the rain was louder here, blending into the slow sweetness of the band. It offered cover for any lovers who wished to whisper amongst themselves.
“I would give you the moon, if I could,” Malon murmured.
Sheik’s eyes widened. “Malon…”
“Please, Sheik, don’t you think we’ve kept it to ourselves long enough?”
“I…” Her expression was conflicted, but Sheik didn’t argue. Malon forged ahead.
“I know you feel responsible for all of this, and that you believe you deserve nothing good or beautiful yourself, even as you do your best to ensure it for everyone else. I won’t take your guilt from you—that’s yours to do what you will with. But I would give you everything, if I could. Golden mornings, if I could chase away the rain. The stars themselves, if I had the strength to pull them down.” She took a steadying breath. “More than anything, I want to give you a love that will last. It breaks my heart that we…that we won’t…”
She couldn’t eke out any further words beyond the boulder weighing heavily in her throat.
The length of Sheik’s body brushed hers, and clung close. She felt her arms wrap more securely around her waist and back. The sensations lit up her nerves like kindling, and yet she could spare them hardly a moment of attention, because Sheik had just leaned her forehead against Malon’s own.
Joy, joy that strummed her heartstrings until they twinged and broke. She knew what Sheik was offering. She knew what they would never be allowed to give.
She broke the dance.
“Until the world falls down.”
Lips locked in the rain-streaked night.

okay @astral-catastrophe indulged us so here's an entire post about the warped timeline au! we're mostly going to talk about our links in this one! going from youngest to oldest! also @fwoosheye
Siren
Siren is WW, ST + PH link! they are 14. they're still a pirate, but they make more time to visit Aryll and their grandma back on Outset. They are banned from using the windwaker unless absolutely necessary because they're a complete riot of a child. They have a pet pig who is appropriately named Chunk. Aryll made them a bracelet which they wear 24/7! they're small, so they find squeezing into small areas much easier than most others. Has a peg leg
Prince
Prince is ALTTP, ALBW, OOS, OOA, LA + TFH link! he is 16 and is the twin of Queen, his zelda. he and his sister are working royals, so while he is a prince he is also a blacksmith! there is a permanent portal between Hyrule and Lorule in the castle garden, and Ravio still leeches off of lives with him! he's autistic and semi-verbal. he uses crutches to get around. Prince also splits into King, Duke, and Princess, but it only works in Hytopia. They're trying to sort out a way to do it without the wizard
Light
Light is FSA, FS + MC link. he is 17! He splits into Vio, Red, Green and Blue at will. For a good part of his time with the other links, he does not have a shadow, since Shadow died. He's kind of a roulette wheel in terms of how he acts, what he knows and what he can do; but it's easy to adapt to whatever his “mood” is any given day. He and his Zelda are very close, to the point they think of each other as siblings. Light has a minish feather on a necklace along with four charms that represent the colours. He lies a lot, and sometimes he doesn't even realize he's lying. Threatens people to get his way sometimes. Autistic + has ADHD. Blue has OCD and Vio has severe anxiety
Moon
Moon is TP link! his wolf form is much bigger than an average wolf, so it's obviously the result of magic. He's 27 and married to Shad. He mainly looks after the kids in Ordon, but still cares after the goats when he can. He has basically no relationship with his Zelda outside of being civil. He still has a bit of heartache relating to Midna but he's getting better. Basically everyone's parent
Courage
Courage is SS link! He's 28, and married to Wisdom, his Zelda. After killing Demise he gained some of his powers, but he really doesn't like to use them. He has a small fear of storms after what happened to Wisdom and he never really forgave himself for what happened to her. He still has her harp and he's extremely cautious about time since he really doesn't want to be late ever again. His loftwing is called Crime.
Sprout
Sprout is OOT + MM link. he's still got all the masks he got during mm, but his favorite is the deku mask. He's 30! He's in a platonic marriage with Malon, and they live on a farm together. He has a necklace with a blue fairy charm because he still misses Navi :( he likes just sitting in the woods and staring off into space just...doing nothing. it's a bit creepy. Likes to steal. Might be a kleptomaniac, he isn't sure. He has a lot of facial scars due to the overuse of the masks he'd obtained.
Warriors
Warriors is HW link. he's Linkles twin brother! He's 31, and dating Sheik <3 (his Zelda is a trans king tyvm). he basically adopted Sprout during the war and he basically became a single father at that point in life. He has to use a cane to walk and he has a fair amount of burn scars. He's retired but still gives his advice to training soldiers. living his best life. Proxi speaks for him as he is completely mute. he struggles to tell the difference between left and right and uses his hands to remind himself

The Parliament Fart of 1607, or Satire and Respectability
On the 4th March, 1607, just after being read a message from the Lords, one of the younger members of the English Parliament, Henry Ludlow, farted somewhat loudly, enough that everyone heard it. This event was noted enough that it is remembered even now as the Parliament Fart of 1607.
Farting was common in humour throughout the Medieval and Early Modern periods, as broad humour involving sexuality and scatology was quite widespread, however in-person farting was considered indiscreet for a gentleman. Cleanliness and control of one's bodily functions was associated with sophistication, and farting could be particularly awkward in a society that associated bad smells with infection (see miasma theory). So this was the kind of thing that might damage your reputation, even your career, particularly at a public event. But, in the end, Henry Ludlow escaped relatively unscathed, he had other scandals given his quarrelsome nature, so perhaps that distracted people.
What did emerge from this moment however was a series of manuscript poems satirising the event. Manuscript, hand-writing, was the standard form for controversial writings because it couldn't be traced back to a specific printing-press, as seen similarly in the "libels" of the time where people would mock recently-deceased political figures. This one was written many times in different ways, and continued to be reimagined as late as the 1660's early Restoration.
All versions start with the fart, often described him similar wordings, and then follow a format of rhyming couplets with various named members standing up to respond to the fart. There's a bit of mischief here in how the members, speaking largely like they would with any other parliamentary business, attempt to keep a sense of dignity in their responses.
One example has the first sentences as:
"Downe came grave auntient Sr John Crooke And redd his message in his booke. Fearie well, quoth Sr William Morris, Soe: But Henry Ludlowes Tayle cry’d Noe. Up starts one fuller of deuotion Then Eloquence; and said A very ill motion Not soe neither quoth Sr Henry Jenkin The Motion was good; but for the stincking Well quoth Sr Henry Poole it was a bold tricke To Fart in the nose of the bodie pollitique." (Bodleian Library manuscript, Malone 23)
You can get a sense of the style of these poems from that. At the time of the original incident, the parliament was debating the naturalisations of the Scots after the Union of the Crowns under James VI and I.
James was originally a Scottish king before English, somewhat subverting the original English desire to conquer Scotland, which unsurprisingly some people weren't very happy about, the Gunpowder Plotters themselves where partially motivated by anti-Scottish xenophobia. His mother was Mary Queen of Scots (of head-losing fame) but he was separated from her long before she died and raised by his Protestant relatives. Because of their descent from the line of Henry VII's eldest daughter Margaret, many considered James and his mother as the primary heirs to the throne, so his Protestantism cleared many of the barriers for his acceptance his mother had faced. Though it's unclear whether Elizabeth ever really accepted James as heir, he was increasingly treated as de-facto heir in the later years of her reign.
Because James inherited the English crown separately (and associated crown of Ireland, English dominion over Wales and not-yet-forgotten claim to the throne of France) it remained entirely independent from and distinct to his kingdom of Scotland. James disliked the idea of holding two crowns at the same time when the system were quite different, so he became the first person to propose the political idea of Great Britain, which would not become a reality until the reign of his great-grandaughter Anne in 1707. While he could only use the title Britain in prerogative matters, things the King could do unilaterally, since he could not convince parliament to accept it, James wanted parliament to at least recognise Scottish subjects born after the union, "post nati", to have natural rights at English subjects.
Naturally, this was one of the subjects referenced in the first Parliament Fart Poems, along with other contemporary topics like freedom of speech and royal finances. But the different versions changed significantly over time. They didn't just fiddle with wordings, they also adapted to reference different issues. Later in James' reign there was the Overbury Scandal, a political murder, and the 1624 Monopolies Bill, on a form of profiteering patenting, later versions written during the 1640's took on the context of the intense parliamentary debate at that time leading up to the civil war. And when it re-appeared in the Restoration, it was used to mock parliament from a Royalist perspective, despite most previous uses being more pro-parliament.
Of course, at the end of the day, the Parliament Fart Poem wasn't just about politics or any other serious topic, it was also play, it was funny, it was fun to write neat little rhyming couplets. It appealed to a taste for irreverent crude humour that was popular at the time even in higher circles. You can see a similar sense of humour in many of Shakespeare's play, so it was far from alone in mixing the high and the low, that was what made such pieces appealing to a relatively wide audience. They weren't too snobbish or narrowly airy. A lot of the classic literature from the Medieval and Early Modern periods had crude humourous moments, Chaucer's Canterbury Tales did too, and that was commonly reprinted in this period as a kind of vintage classic.
Perhaps in the modern day we could also use a moment to laugh at a fart, we'd be in good company.

Note
I feel like you'd say that you'd fist fight Malon over Time but you're actually too scared to fight Malon for any reason. I also think that you get scared when people yell for any reason.
One thing about Time is:
Time is not my first King.
There was Kakashi, then Aizawa, then Nanami, and now its him
Malon, however, is my first queen
I would fistfight TIME for her, not the other way around
Also, when people yell at me, especially if I’m right in that case, I get frustrated. Like, really frustrated. I cry when I’m frustrated, so people think I cry when I get yelled at because I’m sad or scared. Nah. I’m angry.

Early Saturday, June 14, 1975
2:20a - First Edition 2:35a - The Late Show: Ellery Queen: Don't Look Behind You (2 hours)
The Joker's Wild, the show where the popular slogan "Where knowledge is king and lady luck is queen" rebuilt Jack Barry's career since being away from the limelight after the quiz show scandals that rocked the 50s, ended its successful 3-year stay on CBS since its September 4, 1972 inception. Fred Van Etten (sic) returned to play against the devil with $500 after unseating a very bright champion. He had three shots at the wine glasses, stereo bar, neon art, pool table and the $1,000+ during his run as final champion, but after being hit with bad luck with the devil, he elected to not to continue and took the $575. Barry mentioned that if there's no more time to play a full game and have anyone play against the devil, a bell would go off meaning that the game is over. It happened during Van Etten's 4th game against theater manager Michael Malone, because the challenger gets the $400 and for the 4-time champ who gets another 100 leaving him with a total of $2,275.
In the final moments, Barry said that Spin-Off with Jim Lange takes over The Joker's Wild's time slot the following Monday, June 16th. During his speech, he mentioned executive producer Dan Enright where he was part of the quiz show scandals years earlier, in which a year later, it would become Barry & Enright Productions. He also mentioned Fred Silverman, Bud Grant, Oscar Katz, and Michael Ogiens, the heads of CBS programming where Ogiens currently the head of programming as of this finale. As the credits roll for the final time, the lights in studio 33 being shut off one by one, and the camera zoomed in on the game board, the show's title slides shut off. The beloved show would return in syndication form in September 1977 where it would stay on for the next 9 years.
Now You See It, the show that shows the players the answers on the board by answering questions and their goal is to find them, ends its 1-year run under Jack Narz, who was still doing Concentration at the time. The championship round ended on a cliffhanger yesterday, because Art Hansen of West Covina, California had 95 points with just 5 of being the new champ and carryover champ Pat Grenier (sic) with 30. The game resumed where Pat made a 54-point rally, but the game ends where Art added 14 points with the final score of 109-84. In addition to the prizes, he won $6,000 in the solo game with time to spare. This would be Pat's last chance to take home more money, because the announcement was made before the championship round that Now You See It ends its run on CBS, but to make sure that either Pat or Dale Lourdes (sic) play the very last solo game for the default jackpot of $5,000, it happens when the first player scores 100 points or more or whoever has the high score when time is up. Dale became the last champion with the final score 118-45 and Pat leaves with $600 and the prizes she won yesterday. The finale ended on a high note with two solo game winners, because Dale played the last solo game and went home with $5,000 and both prizes from the qualifying round. Now You See It would return 14 years later under host Chuck Henry where it would stay on for the next 3 months.
Tattletales replaces Now You See It for the summer only until it returns to its 3p time slot a short time later, because Musical Chairs with Adam Wade premieres Monday, June 16th.

Warriors Swan Lake AU: Soldiers - Twilight
@tortilla-of-courage
And here we’re at the second half of this fic, featuring Twilight and his backstory. Also featuring a more reliable narrator when it comes to Warriors’ characterization for this AU. So here’s a look at how Twilight ended up as a captain in the royal guard.
-------------------------------------
Twilight was probably the only person to ever have a royal relative and refuse to accept any sort of noble title.
His Aunt Malon had married the king a few years before Twilight was born. He grew up in the tiny village he was born in, but his aunt and uncle visited often.
They never wore their crowns or finery when they visited, and Twilight had even been the one to direct his uncle on how to do the farm work properly on more than one occasion. He had no idea it was the king he was bossing around every other summer until he was already almost an adult.
He’d wanted to see more of the world before settling down, and headed to the capitol to start off, hoping maybe he could spend a few nights with his aunt and uncle to help him plan out what to do and where to go first.
He’d been a bit confused when people reacted with disbelief when he gave his relatives names, and had been a bit put out when doors slammed in his face because they thought he was lying. He didn’t understand why that might have been until he ended up arrested because someone called for the guard.
That had pissed him off, and he fought for a bit but didn’t manage to make much headway, and he ended up in a cell in the castle dungeons.
Part of him was now wondering just what kind of reputation his aunt and uncle had in Castle Town that it landed him in jail just for being related to them.
Well, up until his cousin showed up.
Warriors was a few months older than Twilight, and he’d come with his parents whenever they visited. Twilight mostly remembered him being a scraggly sort of kid, who spent a lot of his early years complaining and whining about not being treated ‘special’, at which point Twilight would proceed to try and tackle him into the nearest body of water or mud. Warriors of course grew out of this phase, and soon he was tackling Twilight back. Or, he was until Twilight hit a growth spurt and put on muscle by taking on more chores. He was a lot harder to tackle then, not that Warriors ever stopped trying.
When Twilight thought of his cousin, mostly he imagined him in basic, simple clothes and covered in mud, smile wide while they shoved more dirt on each other’s faces, hair a mess. Warriors always left the ranch with more bruises than he arrived with, and they spent a notable amount of time wrestling and pushing each other into water or mud.
All of Twilight’s memories had Warriors in the same spot as anyone else from his tiny village. So he was unprepared when his cousin showed up to visit him.
Fine, expensive clothing with elaborate embroidery (though he’d learn later it was actually on the simple side for royalty), a long royal blue scarf that flared and billowed like a cape when he moved, several pieces of expensive jewelry which included but wasn’t limited to several earrings he wore at once. And a crown.
Warriors was wearing a literal crown.
“Wow, when they said someone claiming to be related to us had been arrested, I didn’t expect the person in question to be telling the truth,” Warriors quipped, smirking.
“Warriors?!” Twilight blanched, climbing to his feet and moving up to press against the bars, as though that would help him process what he was seeing. “What are you wearing?!”
Warriors laughed, loud and sudden, and a guard stepped up.
“Your Majesty, are you alright?”
“I’m fine,” Warriors waved, now doubled over and trying to catch his breath desperately.
“YOUR MAJESTY?!” Twilight echoed, his shock clear on his face.
The guard whispered something to Warriors, who waved him off again.
“Yeah, but he’s always bothering me, so it’s fine. You can let him out and return his things to him, he’s telling the truth,” Warriors said, gasping a bit while he still caught his breath from laughing.
“Warriors, what is going on?” Twilight asked once his cousin assured the guard Twilight wasn’t lying and sent him to get the keys and all the things Twilight had brought with him.
“Do you seriously not know?” Warriors asked back, seeming genuinely confused.
“All I know is that I showed up here thinking I could stay a day or two with your family while I planned out a trip to see more of the country and ended up arrested trying to find you, and now here you are,” he reached through the bars to wave at his cousin. “You’re probably wearing things that cost more than my house, and the soldiers are calling you ‘Your Majesty’, and you have a crown,” he pointed quite firmly at the accessory in question. “What is going on?”
Warriors blinked at him, like he couldn’t understand how Twilight was so stupid he hadn’t figured out what was going on.
“Twilight,” he said slowly, like Twilight was being particularly dumb. “Do you not know who my parents are?”
Twilight frowned. “Is that important?”
Warriors covered his mouth and nose with his hands, taking in a deep breath, looking equal parts stressed and amused, probably fighting back laughter.
“Twi,” Warriors wheezed out, expression mostly hidden. “My dad is the King,”
Twilight took a moment to let that sink in.
“WHAT!?”
Twilight’s uncle thought it was hilarious when Warriors swept into the throne room with his arm through Twilight’s, explaining what was going on to his parents without care that they were dealing with some minister of something.
It must have been quite a sight, the crown prince sweeping into the room arm-in-arm with a peasant who clearly hadn’t had a bath or decent rest in a few days while loudly announcing his cousin had arrived.
Twilight felt very out of place.
Time, who was dressed almost but not quite as finely as his son, had burst into an uncontrollable fit of laughter immediately once it sank in, doubled over in his throne. He was wearing blue, faint hints of embroidery across the pale vest over his tunic. He had a long royal blue coat lined with silver, though it was cut short enough he could ride a horse unencumbered. He had riding boots, more practical than the fancy boots Warriors had, but still obviously expensive. And he had a crown. Beyond the finery though, he still looked like Uncle Time, the man Twilight bossed around in the summers. He still had the long scar over his right eye, and the blue and red markings from the Old Magic he used when he was young.
Somehow Twilight had a hard time picturing his uncle as the king, despite seeing him in court attire.
And then his aunt reached over to smack at her husband and tell him to get himself together, and Twilight felt his entire brain shut down for a moment.
Aunt Malon was his mother’s sister, and he knew her even better than he knew her husband, since she would visit even when her husband couldn’t. He was used to seeing her in work clothes, practical wear for living on a ranch.
Her boots were the same, but that was about it.
She was dressed more simply than her husband or son, but even she was dressed like royalty. Her skirts were a bit longer than they usually were, though only by an inch, and a royal blue colour, a darker shade of blue embroidered a commoners pattern across it. She still had a tan shirt, but it seemed like more of a blouse now, slightly fancier, and a bit of brown leather around her waist, not unlike a sash, to hold the very embroidered bit of fabric with the crest of the kingdom that hung down the front of her skirts. A fancy pink-purple sash or shawl or whatever was wrapped around her arms, in the same shade as the skirts she wore at home. A very simple circlet sat on her brow.
When Twilight finally managed to comprehend his aunt and uncle sitting on thrones in royal finery, his uncle had mostly collected himself and Warriors was snickering into the back of his hand. The rest of the room was silent, and everyone was staring at him.
“So,” he said slowly into the silence. “When was I going to find out you two are literally the king and queen? Were you planning on ever telling me?”
Time snorted again, desperately trying his best to swallow more laughter. Malon glared at him gently. Warriors turned his face away while he puffed out his cheeks to keep his own laughter in check.
“Also, are you telling me that I spent almost every summer tackling the crown prince into mud puddles?” Twilight went on when no one else seemed to. “I found out I’ve technically been assaulting the crown prince when he showed up in the dungeons because I got arrested for claiming to be related to you because I didn’t know you were the king and queen. Seriously, I got ARRESTED over this! And him! I’ve been leaving bruises on the prince my whole life and no one bothered to tell me? How many of the things we did during the summers you visited home technically count as treason because you guys are royalty? Why didn’t you tell me you were royalty?! It could’ve saved a lot of headaches!”
“Yes, because that would’ve prevented you from assaulting the crown prince,” Warriors joked, rolling his eyes.
“Oh, you shut up,” Twilight scoffed, elbowing him. “You left just as many bruises on me!”
That cracked Time’s resolve again, and he burst into a new round of laughter.
Malon sighed heavily. “I had thought you’d figured it out on your own already. Most of the village has,”
“Clearly not,” Twilight scoffed, sounding a bit more offended than he felt.
“Clearly not,” Malon sighed. “I do apologize for the issues this has caused. You weren’t sitting in a cell long, I hope,”
“Only because he came to get me,” Twilight tossed his head at Warriors.
“A few members of my guard are horrible gossips,” Warriors admitted. “I overheard they’d picked him up and got curious,”
Time gathered himself and sat back, one hand on his face as he gasped for air.
“This is the best thing that’s happened all week,” he wheezed.
Malon reached over and whacked him.
Twilight did eventually get the full story, and the reason no one told him that the royal family was the one that visited every summer was because they were worried that he’d treat his cousin differently if he knew that was the prince, and everyone was hoping that giving Warriors a place to just be like every other kid would help keep him from getting spoiled and entitled. It worked, since despite his decadence Warriors was a pretty grounded person. He didn’t have a good grasp on what is and isn’t expensive, but he was respectful at least.
Twilight proved them all wrong by taking the first opportunity to tackle his cousin into the fountain in the courtyard, royal finery be damned.
He nearly got arrested again for that before Warriors retaliated and the guards decided to find it funny instead of worrying.
He was offered a title a few times to apologize for the misunderstanding and his brief prison stint, but he always turned it down. He didn’t want a title, he just wanted full clearance to be allowed to assault his cousin without being charged with treason.
He spent longer in the castle than he expected to, and then he learned he could see the kingdom a lot easier by just tagging along on some of the outings the royal family made to check on the people. But he still didn’t want a title.
Which is how Twilight marched up to his uncle and informed him he wanted to join the army for the express purpose of being part of the royal guard.
Time seemed amused by this, and Twilight was quickly fast tracked up the ranks to get a placement in the royal guard. Which he also quickly rose up the ranks of.
Only part of it was nepotism. Most of it was that he actually had a lot of skill with a sword, more than a lot of the other soldiers, and he took his job seriously. He ended up with the title of captain after only a few short years, and most of the people he interacted with had no idea he was related to the queen. This worked just fine for Twilight.
It did mean he didn’t get to tackle his cousin into water features and mud puddles as often, but that was something he could live with.
He ended up the head of Warriors’ guard specifically, which Warriors found immensely amusing for reasons Twilight didn’t fully understand.
Which was why he was there when their travelling group was attacked.
Warriors could hold his own wrestling with Twilight and the others in Ordon, but he was no fighter. He couldn’t protect himself in a real fight. That was what his guard was for.
A guard that had all fled the second they realized they were facing a sorceress. Which left only him.
Twilight stood firmly in front of his cousin, sword in hand, blinking water out of his eyes. No one was going to hurt his cousin, not if he had anything to say about it. The only person who should be responsible for Warriors being soaked and covered in mud was him.
The sorceress took a step closer and Twilight shifted, grip tightening on his sword, face twisting into a snarl, teeth bared.
The sorceress paused.
Twilight nearly startled at the appearance of someone at his side, spotting the blonde hair and a blue hat, a sword and shield drawn. Legend, one of the newer members of the prince’s guard.
Well, at least he wasn’t the only soldier brave enough to stay and protect the prince.
He was making a very angry report about all of them when they got back to the castle.

Another random BUT kind of cute linked universe au.  Introducing Link as the prince and the pauper.
Staring Wind as the main role of the Prince and Spirit as the main role of the pauper.
Once upon a time in a kingdom long ago their was a King (Time) and a Queen (Malon) and their eight sons Sky, Warrior, Twilight, Wild, Legend, Hyrule, Four, and their youngest Wind. However the day Wind was born the universe did something quite strange. A identical looking child to the prince was born to a lower class family, minutes before him. Neither boy knew of each others existence until after their 14th birthday.
 You guys get the idea.
Wind is a prince who is trying his best to be of help his family, however despite his best efforts he feels like a complete screw up who can never do anything right, unlike he’s perfect older brothers. So when advisor Cole suggest that the young prince be set up in a arranged marriage to the princess of the phantom kingdom. He holds his tongue, he does not want to marry her, however it be four years until the marriage so maybe he could learn to love her? If he was honest with his family, what he really wants to do is run away with is bestfriend Tetra (Who is his body guard/tutor) and sail the high seas. However his people come first.
Spirit, is a indentured servant, who is forced to work hours upon hours to repay his parents debt, as a engineer/mechanic, building robots that he thinks are to dangerous. Guardians as the rich nobles call them. He would honestly rather be anywhere but there, however trains sure have caught his eye, and he really likes playing his flute.
How Wind and Spirit would meet is very similar to the movie, Wind sneaks out with Tetra to see the town. By chance they stumble upon one another and are quite confused.  “I HAVE ANOTHER BROTHER! WHY DID MOM AND DAD NEVER TELL ME ABOUT YOU!” “I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT!” After that they would hit it off. Tetra would join them, dumbfounded by their similarities, only biggest difference is Spirit has freckles. Soon though Warrior would come looking for his youngest brother and Wind would slip spirit a pirates charm so they could talk later.
Warrior would drag Wind back to the palace, and not meaning to, he say some fairly harsh words towards wind. “Why can’t you just do as your told! The kingdom needs a prince that will help it, not one who go’s running off!” “I AM HELPING THE KINGDOM!” “WHEN HAVE YOU EVER HELPED IT!” Something like that, something triggering enough to have wind dart to his room and isolate himself from everyone even Tetra. Warrior would regret what he said. As captain of the royal guards and armies he’s under a lot of stress, and the soon arrival of the princess has got him even more frazzled.
This is when advisor cole would start his evil plan. Kidnapping Wind, and killing him to cause the kingdoms to go to war. Kidnapping him goes relatively easy, and he takes the prince to a hidden cabin in the woods. He’ll keep him alive for now, he needs to make it look convincing.
Only problem is Cole did not account for the literal doppelganger in town! Who some guards find and are like “Oh prince thank goodness.” “I’m sorry what!” “Let’s get you back to the palace. You look awful.” “Rude these are my normal clothes.” They still drag him back to the palace where winds family, because of how relived they are ,just assumed its him. Spirit gets a very lengthy apology from Warrior that was meant for wind, and poor spirit is just. “Um thank you but there is a huge misunderstanding, I’m not the prince.” “Oh my gosh he’s lost his memory.”
Only two people who know it’s not wind our Wild and Tetra, Tetra knows because she met spirit. Wild know because like DETAILS. Sadly no one believes them. So its up two the three of them to find Wind. Spirit agrees to play the part, and help with the princess situation (Cough who when he does meet he falls head over heels for and is agonized by the fact he will have to let he go cough).
While Wild and Tetra search for Wind, they do find a lead but tetra is forced to go in alone because wild’s prince duties. She will find Wind, who has been starved and abused. Despite Tetra’s best efforts, she will get captured to and both would be taken to mine to be hunted down by a guardian.
Cole would come back around and claim, spirit is a imposter which he just respond with, “Yeah I said that from the beginning, but how would you know! Unless you had confirmation about the prince.” Which would put all of boys up in arms, and they finally realize wait oh m gosh Spirit isn’t their little brother.
Now I can see this ending in two ways. One Tetra and Wind make it out all on their own and come into the room dramatically despite their bad injuries.
OR
The royals and Spirit very aggressively integrate cole, and he pulls a, “You’re probably to late. The guardian most likely all ready tore them to shreds.” Which in turn would cause Warrior to knock his lights out, and all of them head over to the mines.
Where Wind and Tetra are about to be blown to bits, but spirit is able to save them because “I built that.”
So yes happy ending, all around, and the royals adopt Spirit into the family, and he takes on the arranged marriage, and low and behold her kingdom has trains. Wind also gets to fulfil his dream of sailing off with Tetra, for the benefit of the kingdom and creating better trading partners.
So yes, wanted to make this into a fic, however I HAVE NO TIME! If someone else wants to make this into a fic for some reason, I give you my blessing just let me know! Anyways thanks for reading.
Now how about Link as the twelve dancing princes?

Some redesigns for my LoZ headcanon/AU! :3 I was originally gonna do just Link and Zelda for this post but I figured it’s been a loooong time since I last actually did anything with Linkle and Aryll, so they got a redesign treatment too. owo Now then! Here’s some headcanon on Hylians as a whole and the characters here representing them! uwu
----------
-Princess Zelda is the royal princess of Hyrule, daughter of King Satori Donovan Hyrule and Queen Anju. Zelda is hailed as the reincarnation of Hylia and, as such, is destined for many great feats: unlocking her inner power of a Goddess, future queen of Hyrule, protector of the Triforce... or so she’s told. Zelda, for all her talents, feels as if she wasn’t meant for the destiny laid out in front of her... or worse, she believes she’s a fluke in the long line of her several lifetimes. She isn’t exactly nervous or shy, and she does hold some confidence in herself, but those long ears are more than just for show: she knows what her kingdom thinks of her.
Due to her inability to access her divine magic and her mother’s checkered past before marrying the king, Zelda is unfortunately the target of unsavory gossip, and it’s something that lurks constantly in the back of her head.
-Link is a humble farmboy who lives with his family in an equally humble Ordon Village. Outside of odd jobs he takes to help out around his village, Link spends most of his time at Lon Lon Ranch, helping Malon and her father with farm work; his favorite is absolutely tending to the horses. When he isn’t on the farm working he’s often training alongside his parent Rune, who is a royal guard stationed in Ordon Village for protection. Link is selectively mute but carries a lot of character, visibly expressive and using his gestures to get his point across (alongside sign language). He’s friendly, reliable, and a bit of a goof, and is the childhood friend of the princess Zelda.
For all of his content with his current life, Link has had strange bouts of dreams and nightmares, flashes of what he swears is images of the past and... something else. He doesn’t know what to make of them.
-Linkle (real name “Kenil”) is Link’s sister and, as she likes to say, “the cooler twin”. She doesn’t actually think herself as cooler than her twin brother though, and in fact a bit of a klutz; she’s tripped and fallen on more than one occasion and can be a bit oblivious... “dumn jock” might fit her. However, that only really shows itself whenever she’s not out and about in the wilds; the moment Linkle enters combat, or is out in the forest, her clumsiness suddenly vanishes; perhaps she feels more comfortable amongst the trees? Linkle’s main occupation in the village is a hunter, and she’s the best shot in the entire village, rivaled only by her mother Oroh and Link himself.
-Aryll is Link and Linkle’s younger sister and the youngest of the Hero family, but that certainly doesn’t stop her from being the most adventurous!  Aryll has boundless energy and endless thirst for adventure; very rarely will she hesitate when something new presents itself to her. She’s quite brave for her age but her search for excitement can (and has) ended up with her getting into trouble: bandaids aren’t a new concept for her. Her zealous spirit can often lead to impatience, but she enjoys helping others a lot: if she isn’t running around chasing the heels of adventure, she’s running around helping the people in her village however she can (usually with their chores). Just like the noble knights in her mother’s stories... just like her Baba! (”baba” is what the siblings call their parent Rune)
---------------
-As a race, Hylians are the most common in Hyrule and are spread out all across the kingdom, though they’re the main inhabitants of the capitol.
-While all the races have an affinity to magic (since magic is innate in any living thing), Hylians typically have the strongest magic and the best grasp on it. As such, it’s an integral part of their culture, often opting to use it instead of the advanced technology the Sheikah have developed (with a few exceptions they can’t live without). Most soldiers and warriors in Hyrule rely on swordplay and magi in combat.
-The Hylians are the only race in Hyrule to technically not have a Patron Deity. This is because the Sage of Hyrule, the goddess Hylia herself, doubles as their patron deity as well. Given she is Hylia in a mortal form, Zelda harbors this divine magic, including the ability the transform into a mighty dragon, but she is unable to harness it as of now.
-The Hylians have a relatively good relationship with the other races of the kingdom, though they are by far the most conservative, second only to the Rito. It’s this attitude that lends to the gossip and disapproval of King Satori’s choice in queen (who was a commoner with an “unsavory” occupation at the time), and their perception of Zelda, specifically amongst the wealthy and residents closer to the capitol.
