about the broke up/never broke up theme; I don’t think it’s reaching to say that they broke up looking at their lyrics and signs. I, personally, don’t think they’ve broken up. not fully. but I definitely don’t think they’ve had a perfect ao3 relationship. I think they’ve had some rocky patches, more than once. I think they’ve fought a lot. I think they’ve had small “breaks” where they are don’t talk to me leave me alone. I definitely don’t think they’ve had a fairytale relationship where everything is always good between them, but I don’t think they broke up. I think that all of these fights and leave me alone’s where intensive, and I think they sucked at communication. especially when the band broke up and they were no longer required to spend every hour with each other due to band stuff. and all of this, together with them both being dramatic people, can create songs that sound like break up songs imo.
I guess I wanted to show that not all ppl in the never broke up camp believes they’ve had a fairytale story. but there are some that believe that they might not have been far from a break up, but just didn’t take that final step, if that makes sense. you don’t have to publish this if you don’t want to, and if this was a really unwanted message, then I apologize!! have a good day/night
I got three in a row in this vein, and I'm not one to just say the same thing and give a wall of anon answers, so to the other two, see the tags! For this particular anon, I get what you're saying--I do!--but I also want this camp to lean into why it's such a goddamned problem to say the words "break up." Especially if you can easily say yeah, they had all these fights and arguments and I'm not talking to you periods, it's not a fairytale, they could have "had a break" for a week (a month, a year) and then gotten back together (because you CAN say that, I totally see that, too), so why can't the words "break up" be part of that narrative?? And I ask because I can think of at least two hardcore break-up points in time off the top of my head, zero research, and I'm sure more out there beyond lyrics. It's not an illogical thing to say, and yet for some reason it is? Like it's this forbidden concept, and much like people saying it's some kind of travesty for Louis to be perceived as a father, I do not get the issue here, why is this a problem??? AGAIN, I'm not saying I know for a fact they broke up, I can point to all kinds of "back together moments," too, but it grinds my gears that so many people can jump out there and say they know for a FACT that they never ever broke up, they've only fucked one person--each other--it's a concept that blows my mind, given so many things pointing to the contrary! (anon, I love you, please never apologize, I always want your messages, you can even DM me if it's easier, hope you're having a good day/night, too!)

Okay but imagine Leon having a hispanic/latino s/o? Like him being introduced to their family at parties and having to memorize all the cousins, him falling in love with all the aspects of their culture. Also i feel like he would love gustavo cerati???? Coming from a latina (boricua y dominicana) this has me kicking my feet and giggling!! Ly 💗!! - 🐚
Hi! This is the first time someone claimed an emoji! I feel so excited, hehe.
And I just noticed I often reply to these asks with just my thoughts not knowing if any of you want a whole fic 😭 If you want one let me know ‘cause I'm dense.
Regarding Gustavo Cerati… you're so real 🐚 anon. In fact, I'm preparing a post which is basically hispanic music I think Leon would like. And let me tell you, there are A LOT OF Cerati's songs. If you guys want to share your thoughts/suggest some artists or songs you're welcome to do so. 🙏🏻
Anyway, I could definitely see Leon being overjoyed dating someone hispanic/latino.
The term itself is really broad, so I'm going to leave the details of the culture as ambiguous as I can so everyone can imagine their own.
leon kennedy x gn reader (reader speaks spanish)
Leon himself isn't someone who actually got to spend his childhood and younger years next to a family, or at least a loving one. So, when he met you, he slowly discovered your upbringing and how beautiful your culture was.
It started with little things. When you first mentioned Leon where you come from, he'd search for one thing he really enjoys—music! He fully believes art is the door to a culture, so there's nothing better than getting to know your country by its artists and songs.
He'd need to translate them, though. He barely knows how to say hello in another language. But then again, he tries his best to actually engage in your culture and show genuine interest.
While he navigates through the songs, typical dances, and festivities, the next step is obvious. As your relationship gets more serious, you'd tell him that your family wants to meet him. He isn't scared, not all. He's actually really excited at the prospect of meeting your relatives and taking such a serious step with you.
However, he is nervous about something. You had previously told him that your family was big, and while it didn't bother him, he isn't confident about his ability to remember names.
Poor boy would be the target of your family's teasing. As soon as he enters your home, some of your relatives would give him a pat on his back, seeing how nervous he is. The whole experience would be overwhelming but in a good way.
You'd introduce him to every family member. He'd say his name as best as he could (He asked you to teach him a bit of Spanish, to at least impress some of your relatives).
Very basic and broken Spanish: “Hola yo me llamo Leon, ¿Cómo estás tú?” Baby is trying his best, and everyone could see how much respect he holds for their culture and language.
He's really respectful in every aspect you could think of. When the little mingling comes to an end and hunger starts to brim in each one of your relatives, Leon would be delighted to try everything.
As soon as he starts eating, there are two outcomes. A) He really likes the food. B) He doesn't like it. For the first scenario, he'd devour the plate. Having something prepared with so much seasoning and love was something foreign to him. He'd whisper and ask you to tell your mom if he could fetch himself another serving. He's too shy for his own good.
For the latter, he'd still remain as respectful as he could. It's okay not to like certain things, and while he tries to finish his plate your family would joke about how he couldn’t handle the spice (even if it wasn't spicy in the first place.)
His favorite activity to do with your family is to see your childhood photo album. They would pull out embarrassing photos of yourself, but he'd think you look lovely. In moments like these, he gets to bond with your family even more, feeling himself blending with them and being part of a family he always longed for.
Overall, Leon would find himself falling in love with you and your culture. No matter how different it's from his own upbringing, he'd be honored to share moments getting to know everything about your country.

If this gets me anon hate I don't care, I have been awake since 3 am and have real life problems to deal with than this.
So, let me say this for the last time and let me be clear
If you can't handle people hating on your favorite character, consider not being in fandom spaces, consider being in fandoms with a small group of friends like the rest of us learned to do.
Because listen, you guys complain about people calling out white favoritism in the fandom but then hate on the Latino brown character.
You guys go around saying that Derek dlc is boring and long and go on and on, on why you hate his dlc (when again Derek is fucking Mexican and guess what's important in Mexican culture dip shit) but heaven forbids we discuss THE VERY REAL PROBLEMS BAXTER DLC HAD: like the fact that it was clearly rushed, the fact that Kab had to hire someone else to finish it, the fact that you are forced to walk in on Baxter getting changed, the fact that you can't a normal conversation with him without him choosing how you should feel and so many more
You guys get to criticize Derek dlc (the dlc about a BROWN LATINO CHARACTER) without understanding it mind you because if you understood why Derek family is important to the dlc and still didn't like it I wouldn't give a fuck. But the second, the second, someone dares to say anything negative about Baxter (again a white man) then suddenly is abuse, suddenly it's fandom drama, suddenly you guys are the victims and we're Baxter haters who are abusing your poor white boy.
I understand the point Baxter dlc was trying to make, I hated the execution, I moved on with my life, I saw people explaining why it was bad, I agreed and moved on with my fucking life
And guess what??? You're allowed to like something someone dislike, it's ok, it's not an attack on you just idk??? Go outside and worry about the genocides that not a single one of you has been speaking about (I've noticed that those who agree with my points usually are speaking about what's happening in Palestine specifically, and those who are claiming we're abusing Baxter have not shared a single post about what's happening, I bring this up because a black artist in the fandom recently got anon hate for, rightfully, worrying about fandom racism and the person bring it up "what about real life issues" while being vague when there's a lot of things to worry about right now)

okie who do u think ......... in all of the ffi teams would secretly listen to overly cutesy kpop songs....... think about ur answer well🐹🎤
Ohhh, nice question!!
To be fair, I'm not really an expert on Kpop (I like a lot of songs and bands, but I'm not super up to date with new bands and lore about the idols), so I apologize if something is off 😔
🇰🇷 To be honest, I think that the main cutesy K-pop song listeners would probably be Noh Sung-joon and Aphrodi 🪽 from the South Korean team. But neither is exactly discreet about it...
In Sung-joon's description, it's stated that he'd love to fly all over the world as a Hallyu star 🌟 in the future. His favourite K-pop idols would probably be Jin from the BTS or maybe Jisung from NCT Dream.
Nagumo 🔥 would probably be secretly a hard-die fan of a lot of bands (especially TWICE, Blackpink, and Weeekly), but if asked about it, he would deny everything. Suzuno and Aphrodi would definitely make fun of him for that, lol 😂.
Choi Chang-soo, the captain, is not super into K-pop, but he likes to listen to a few bands, particularly Red Velvet and Exo.
🇺🇸 I'd like to think that Dylan from Unicorn knows a lot of songs, but I feel like he's more on the chaotic side of K-pop rather than the cute one. Mark doesn't necessarily dislike the kind of music Dylan listens to, but after hearing the same song on repeat for the 15th time, anyone would go 🤪.
🇬🇧 Edgar would be hesitant at first, but eventually, he would turn out to like a few songs (he still thinks English music is better, though).
🇦🇷 Teres would refuse because 🙄 😤 God forbid that man to listen to anything else other than reggaeton and old tango songs his abuelo recommended.
🇩🇪 Jonas mainly listens to techno and alternative indie music, but Dylan would annoy him so much that he'd have to give up and accept to give K-pop a try, and to his surprise, he likes quite a few songs.
🇪🇸 Now, Querardo is similar to Teres when it comes to music taste. He likes a lot of Spanish 💃 and Latino artists, but sadly, he's not too keen on K-pop and foreign music.
🇧🇷 Mack likes all kinds of music, from classical to hard-core dubstep. He likes K-pop as well and follows a few idols on his socials.
🇶🇦 Bilal listens to a lot of K-pop, even though the rest of his team doesn't understand the appeal. He especially likes songs that have Middle Eastern influences in the instrumental.
🇮🇹 Fideo has listened to K-pop music before (thanks to Marco and Angelo), and even though he enjoyed the songs and the bands he was presented with, he kinda forgot about its existence. He still has the songs in his playlist, but he listens to local Italian hits more than everything else.
I'm unsure about the rest of the FII teams and players; maybe Shine and Quincy from Oz 🇦🇺 and Abari from South Africa 🇿🇦 would enjoy K-pop, too.
What about you, anon? Who were you thinking about? 🤔

Oh yeah, since I got a few more mutuals and followers in the past two weeks, I decided to do a proper introduction
My name is Zash. He/She ONLY. I am a neurodivergent latino artist who sometimes draws and sometimes reblogs, but both things are cringe and free 💝
Small tag guidance:
Zash's stuff = All the things I post. Can be art... or just me yapping lmao
Zash's reblogs = When I reblog stuff in general.
Zash's ask box = When I reply to anyone who goes in my ask box. Currently, they're open, so you are always free to ask questions ANYTIME! (Unless if you're a hate anon, I will probably ignore you anyway lol)
Not my art! = When I reblog other people's art! Can be crafts, paintings (digital AND traditional), writing, etc.
See later = Posts where I think I need to see it sometimes. Can be something funny or something important.
Small notes here, too:
All my images ID's are in the alt text of my posts, but if you want, you can add them in your reblogs! Any constructive criticism about writing alt text is fine, as I'm still new to it ^_^
I have separate tags for each au I have, if you want, you can look out for them (example, if you want to see my gd infection au, you can see the tag "Darkness Rot AU"), I will soon do a master-post about each au I have or may do in the future.
I do also have a carrd! It can be found here, is optional to check it but feel free to if you want, as it contains more information about what I like or what am I.
Tumblr media
Oh and don't forget your daily clicks, btw, before you leave this post! Is important, and if you have money, consider donating embedded sims, it may be a little but it means a lot for the people's lives, family and home ❤️

forgive me if im just uneducated/you dont wanna explain but wtf is rcd anon talking about idk who rcd is
rcdart was an artist on here who dabbled in many popular fandoms (especially marvel, bravest warriors, and steven universe) and had pretty nice art, so they were pretty popular. Around 2016 or so they underwent a very extreme and very abrupt art style shift, where their art became more stylized but more importantly, took a turn into becoming transphobic and also racist.
Their most notable criticism was that they would draw captain america (who they headcanonned as trans) with a huge chest and huge thighs and often huge lips (though they gave huge lips to pretty much all of their designs)
Their racist drawings included drawing black people with caricature features like light lips, weird cheekbones, exaggerated noses, and buck tooth gaps; drawing latino women as very muscular and with facial hair (also could not draw a single latino woman without a sombrero for some reason).
I never saw their nsfw blog (twitter account? idk what the hell it was) but people ALLEGEDLY say that they would draw a lot of really trans fetishistic content and doubled down on the transphobia. I havent been able to verify that myself so take it with a grain of salt.
Their big downfall catalyst was a pretty awful and unrecognizeable drawing of finn from star wars which basically set off all the callouts and stuff and put them in the public eye.
Their case is pretty well documented if you look up the 'rcdart' url youll find tons of images and tons of info. If you'd like to take a glimpse at what they posted, their blog is somewhat saved on the internet archive as well (and obvious TW for the racism and potentially triggering transphobic art)
Its really unfortunate cause they DID have cool stuff going on in some of their drawings, but they were so adamant on cranking up the caricature vibes that the charm is just lost

latam swifties in brazil: get mugged, one of them dies, hundreds faint, thousands get so dehydrated and overheated they're on the verge of fainting as well, thousands witness all of this horror, they get denied the basic right of water for the sake of profit, they are forced out of the venue with barely any explanation and locked out while getting mugged maybe hearing gun shots, etc.
some swifties: omg brazilians/latinos are so dangerous everyone protect Taylor and get her out of there :(
.
they really don't see us as human, it breaks my heart. THAT'S OUR PEOPLE that got taken advantage of and put at risk by a company that didn't give a single fuck about any of them.
why are we getting called dangerous and being shamed for the greed of companies? latam fans were just doing what other fans in any of the other countries she tours would do.
on top of everything they're far more concerned about Taylor than any of the fans that actually got injured at the shows. not thatthst she's not being impacted by all of this, it's just someone literally fucking died and they're talking about how sad taylor has to be that she won't be there for an american football game.
they also seem to forget that the fans that went through all of this, latam fans in general, use the exact same internet that they use (though i know some of them think we all live in prehistoric caves with no modern technology), and they can read what they're posting. we see their posts, in all this pain how do they think that makes us feel?
Exactly!!! They don't see us as human beings, they're five seconds away from saying the same shit that European colonizers said back in the 16th-17th century. Greedy companies who exploit their customers, armed robbers and heatwave aren't issues exclusive to LATAM. Did they forget everything that went down with Ticketmaster last year? The Astroworld Festival Crowd Crush? Ariana Grande's concert getting bombed? The heatwave that the UK and a bunch of other countries in Europe went through last year and this year? These are all things that happened in first world countries and you don't see them saying artists shouldn't go there, because of these events.
We all have access to the internet, we can all see the shit they say online and most of us speak English or at least understand it well enough to know what's being said. While I bet most of them didn't even know that Portuguese is Brazil's official language instead of Spanish until last week.
Yes, we have our issues. Our government is corrupt, it's full of conservatives determined to make the lives of women, people of color, members of the LGBTQIA+ community and people who are struggling financially worse, our public school and health system leaves much to be desired. But the US has the exact same issues, so they don't get to label this country as 'dangerous' while they're going through the exact same shit. That makes them xenophobic.
Sorry this turned into a rant, anon. I hope you're taking care of yourself, my heart goes out to every single Brazilian fan. I'm really sorry things have been handled so badly these last 2 days and I'm sorry these stupid fans have been saying xenophobic stuff on the internet. Hope you guys are taking care of yourselves, sending hugs 🫂

Hi Marte! Won't it always be more profitable for artists to stay closeted? Like if you take Troye for example. He is popular with the lgbtq+ community and has a fanbase but he would probably have an even bigger fanbase if he was having pr relationships with high profile women and pretending to be straight. Billie would too if she acted straight and dressed provocatively for men. When she did her lingerie photoshoot men were going crazy on twitter, they were suddenly showing an interest in her. So imagine if she targeted them. Even with Louis. So he has a fanbase of mostly queer fans or straight fans who think he is queer but if he did a pr relationship with any woman it would probably get attention of non fans. Teenage girls and women are obsessed with heterosexual relationships. They don't care who is having the relationship. If they look cute together they'll immediately be on board. So aren't record labels losing money from letting anyone out the closet? And how do we progress from here as straight people will always be the majority and the biggest target audience?
Hi, anon!
No, it won't always be profitable to stay in the closet! Because you will end up with a saturated market. If everyone was trying to fit the same mold, act straight, have the same target audience and make music in the same genre, only a few will have a break through and the rest won't. If you're a good looking, american, heterosexual, girl-next-door and writing relatable songs about heartbreak and love, you'll have to compete with a lot of established artists. If you're an average looking, straight, young, british male writing indie songs and playing guitar, then good luck mate. Nothing sets you apart from the thousands of others doing the same.
In order to succeed you need originality and to do something sombody else isn't doing. There is very few who succeeds by fitting the mold. The mold is also changing. The music industry needs diversity, artist needs to show originality, they need to be new and fresh to get attention. They need to reinvent themselves not to be predictable and boring.
Also, heterosexual young women aren’t a uniform target group. You'll have people who love rock, people who love ballads, people who prefer blond men and people who prefer latinos. Also heterosexual young women aren’t fans of an artist just because of looks and sexual attraction. It's much more than that. They're also not homophobic.
Billie's target audience has never, and will never be, adult heterosexual men. Some target groups repel other target groups. Indie men usually don't like bubblegum boyband music, if adult men likes a male artist it's very unlikely that male artist will have young girls as fans. If Billie started catering to het men she'd lose a lot of her current fans.
I don't neccessarily think that Troye would have been a bigger artist if he were straight and did fake PR relationships, because then he'd have to compete for attention with a horde of other male artist doing the same. He'd never make it. He'd be another youtuber trying his luck in music. I think being out is what sets Troye apart from others and is exposing him to a huge new target audience.
The queer community and straight people who are interested in and enjoys queer culture are a bigger group of people than you might think. This is also a very undersaturated market. There are very few out queer artists who can appeal to this target audience. That's also why so many straight artist queerbaits, because they know it's a large untapped target group. Artist coming out now will have a large group interested in them, because there are so few catering to them. They will also most likely keep a lot of their previous target group, because the society (and young people) are more queer friendly. The few heterosexual males who suddenly got to know who Billie was when she did that photoshoot, are most likely not starting to stan her, buy her music and her merch. There are many other young, scantily clad women to drool over, because it's a well saturated market. The queer community on the other hand will. They badly need artists to represent them, they need relatable queer music and they need out queer artists, so they will stan.
Being an out artist will give you an edge, it will give you a new target audience in a very unsaturated market, where there is little competition for attention. It will also make you more interesting, give you an opportunity to reinvent yourself, be a role model, and represent a huge group of people. If you're talented enough, original enough you will beak into the mainstream sphere. Just look how fast Chapell Roan shot to fame. She's such an interesting artist.

The thing about Anthony is that he is a genuenly good singer and songwriter, I think what sabotages him is either his own or his team's constant push towards the mainstream sound rather than an authentic one (I'd argue both). I think that is what generally sabotaged L&L which sounded sooooo "content farm-y" and like a clear need to sound all the other mainstream artists. Let's be real going from "why do so many people just sing about having sex" to just singing about sex (and w other women might I add) is screaming "I don't care abt this I just want to be on the charts". Then you go to his ultimate latin era where he attempts to make marc anthony esc music and failing miserably (all from Latino Activo). Which leads to Villano and Se Fue which are just.......no.
I REALLY hope, like the other anon said, that his upcoming music is more genuine, less automated and with less autotune bc he has talent that can go a long way and that is very enjoyable.
There you go, a little musical analysis focusing strictly on the music and the sound with little to no "outside situations" involved.
so he needs another tgatb era? i lowkey loves l&l though…
anyways keep going because i do want to hear your argument for his mainstream vs authentic

Ok but like how do you really feel about fem!Sirius? bc I’ve seen you talk about it before but you never elaborated past you not being into it personally.
Do you want me to make it long, anon? Let's make it long.
First of all, I want to say having headcanons is fine. We all have them. If I sat here and decided today that Sirius is a latino man, whose family became rich for mining black gold in Brazil and that decided to invest in his education by sending him to england due to the superior educational system, then that's me having fun with something that is close to me, and that I would personally enjoy. In that sense, headcanoning Sirius as gay, trans, feminine, androgynous, genderqueer, etc is fine. It is not for me personally, but people are allowed to crave that sort of representation.
So when does it become a problem?
I don't know how deep into marauders fandom you are, if it's just here on tumblr or if you have other accounts in other websites, so let me give you an idea of what I've seen in these past few months.
People being shamed/pressured for not using she/her pronouns for Sirius.
Fem!Sirius truthers harassing/taking screenshots of fanart to make fun of artists that draw him as masculine.
The extreme fetishization of their girl!Sirius, to the point where it is creepy (this is a 13-17yo teenager they're talking about).
The shift of wolfstar into extremely feminine Sirius x extremely masculine Remus, essentially turning them into a cishet couple (which is blatant homophobia, as these characters are nowhere near that in canon, and so the need to turn m/m as close to m/f as possible is a clear dislike of masculine gay men together).
People getting attacked for preferring Sirius to have a closer style to canon (this is a punk-rock guy we're talking about).
People getting attacked for using masculine actors for Sirius on their video edits.
I think you got my point. This headcanon stopped being a harmless, self indulgent headcanon and it became extremely toxic, entitled behavior. I'm not the only one who noticed this. There's many videos on tiktok getting thousands of likes right as I answer your ask of people who are fed up with this and just want to enjoy the character they know and love without becoming targets. I agree with them.
So there you have it, anon. That's what I think past me "not being personally into it"

Hello! I go by 🎀 anon! I’d like to do a match up, if that’s okay! I’m a latino afab and genderfluid (they/them) in my 20s! 5’4 height, medium length dark brown hair with a shaggy mullet type of haircut (hoping to at least have magenta highlights if work allows it </3), brown eyes, mid-sized body type, a INFP MBTI type, and my star sign is a Taurus. Also am autistic and have ADHD! I’m a pan disaster but fictionally I lean towards male characters! 🤣
I LOVE art and animation! I do digital art as a hobby and hope to sell as a side job some day! I have a special interest for horror, especially indie horror gaming! I also love trying different culture foods, even if I’m biased in my puerto rican roots. I always make effort to seek other cultural meals and learn how to eat them properly and know it’s history because… I love food and making food. 🫡 Speaking of! My love language is making someone meals, buying them gifts and making them art! <3
Ah, not sure if it matters, but I wear a lot of cutesy pastel pink clothes (bonus if they’re strawberry themed) as well as very goth and punk clothing depending on my mood! Which is always funny whenever I wear very gothic outfits, people look so shocked when they see my room LMAO. I love a variety of music including nu metal, goth rock, game soundtracks, chill lo-fi sounding music (Like the kind you hear in Bee and Puppycat! Which is actually my comfort show…). It fluctuates depending the mood LOL. (It’s… quite a mix.) While I’m introverted, I do like going out and interacting with others when having the energy to do so! I tend to ramble a lot though and always fear to seem annoying, then regret later for going on for too long so expect a lot of apologizing for that. 😭
Kinda like now actually LOL, apologies if this is too long! Not sure how much to put in, but hope you have a good day! Take your time to answer, no rush! Appreciate it, thank you! qvq
can i just say you sound so cool?? like?? hello?? your taste in music is literally superb?? but don't worry, this wasn't too long, so no need to apologize <3 i hope your work allows you to get magenta highlights!!
your matchup is... the bloody painter! and it's not because of the art thing, trust me on this okay, just hear me out for a moment. while, yes, you and helen both enjoy art, helen is also really big on horror and the whole goth subculture. while he doesn't dress the part, you will catch him listening to the music and digesting both the art and literature. so. trust me.
helen is pretty reserved and not one to let people close to him but once you break the ice and get past his apathetic exterior, you'll find that he's actually pretty... i wouldn't say he's open once you get to know him, but it's fairly obvious that he'll become less reserved around you, and he'll actually show that he cares about you. does that make sense?
moving on, helen doesn't give food a lot of thought, to be honest. he likes what he likes, and he hates what he hates. he would be a terrible food critic. he does, however, know and understand that cooking is an art, and he has nothing but respect for you and your talents and is 100% willing to be a taste tester for you if you ever need one. he quite enjoys your cooking, if we're being honest, and you have introduced him to a wide variety of different foods from different cultures and he just... loves seeing you enjoy yourself.
now going on to art, because this is helen and it's unavoidable. helen is more of a traditional artist, so digital art isn't his area of expertise, but he would absolutely love to see any and all of your drawings. you two could even draw together! and he has like numerous sketchbooks just full to the brim of sketches and fully-fledged out pieces if you ever want to see them. he loves sharing his own art as well. and, if you give him permission, he'll probably incorporate you into his art. he'll sketch you or add you into the background of one of his paintings. art is his love language, and he would love to involve you in it.
helen doesn't give gifts often, mostly because it's not something that crosses his mind, but sometimes he'll be out and about, and he'll see something. something strawberry-themed or an accessory that would look good with your goth or punk clothing. and, of course, the only natural thing to do is to buy it and gift it to you. so, every once in a while, he'll just hand you a random gift with no real explanation other than a shrug or 'i saw it and thought about you.'
and if you start rambling to him about a certain topic that has caught your interest, or about your day-to-day life in general, helen will silently listen to you. he likes listening to you ramble, especially when he's mindlessly sketching something. and should you apologize for rambling too much, he'll just momentarily meet your gaze and say, 'don't apologize. i like the sound of your voice.' before directing his attention back to whatever he was sketching.
any and all information you give him about the things you like and dislike will be neatly tucked away into a corner of his mind. he's the type to remember everything you tell him, even the minor things. you're a very important part of his life, and he does everything he can to make sure you know that.

Who do your friends think are hotter latinx dudes? (If it’s Pedro pascal or oscar Isaac - they’ve got worst taste tbh)
Like 97%+ of the Latin / Latino / Latine community, I'm not a huge fan of Latinx and consider this terminology to be an example of linguistic imperialism, but i am DELIGHTED to answer this question with a subset of dudes.
To clarify, though, as much as a meme and pout about it, I do get why my taste is different than theirs. I'm not ever too impressed by just looks--there's a lot of handsome dudes out there, who cares? like honestly, so what?--but I'm very attracted to movement and stance and motion. IRL, my party trick is that I can pick martial artists or dancers out of a crowd by how they stand or move, and I do this based purely on "is the way this dude stands sexy to me or not?" as opposed to any kind of objective criteria.
Accordingly, I married a life long martial artist who went goth clubbing with me enough times to ensure I'm obsessed with him for life. He's also the most amazing poet I've ever met and an actual certified genius, because fundamentally life is unfair. But the point is: movement, movement, movement. It's so important. I have a type, but not necessarily how people usually mean it.
And in the realm of pet actor men, David Castañeda moves way, way better than average, even if you judge him against other dudes trying to be action stars. So my friends are never going to convince me, and I'm never gonna convince them, and that's fine.
So anyway
Miguel Gomez is popular. I think it's the cheekbones. I know him as Gus from the Strain and everybody else has seen him on some other show that sounds like something I'd rather die than watch.
Tumblr media
Both the dudes from Mayans MC are popular, and I actually do not disagree with either JD Pardo or Clayton Cardenas as a pick. I resisted watching the show for literally years, but eventually I caved and yeaaaaahhhhh. yeaaaah tho.
Tumblr media
Every so often I'm insane about JD for like, a week or so. Fantastic tough guy yet nice boy energy on Mayans. I've said some thirsty ass shit on this account about him for SURE. Unfortunately, every time he posts a Muay Thai workout he's just so sloppy it kills my boner for like. months at a time. I flashback to my own summer in Phuket and can just see how disappointed my trainer would be if this dude was in his gym.
Tumblr media
Clayton Cardenas I used to disagree about but he's a Miami boy, so. And like, with the biker styling? Look at him. If he had a dance or martial arts background I'd be a goner.
he also looks like the Hollywood (therefore prettier) version of every single metal Latino dude I've ever met. the 305 and 561 area code versions of this man have hollered at me more times than I can count. like, it's a charming sort of nostalgia. it's That Guy! that type of guy! i know That Guy! I made out with that guy under the bleachers in high school! etc etc. what a darling. the last version of That Guy who tried for me is now happily married and lives in LA and works in a pet crematorium. Very happy for him.
Tumblr media
where was i
oh yeah, I have one friend who is obsessed with bad bunny and I guess maybe there's a dance background there maybe but I just do NOT vibe with it at ALL. the id is mysterious. he might just be too young for me? david is on thin ice, age wise, for me. any younger and I'd be repelled.
Tumblr media
which is an interesting point, actually. I don't know how old you are, anon, but age might be another factor here. I'm in my mid 30s and CMOOOON
Oscar Isaac doesn't do it for you at least a little????

I'm actually really happy now after seeing more people come out and talk about Rozupan's odd "Holier-than-thou" attitude. I know in the past others have called her out for her oc being a Mary Sue or for the lack of actual Latino culture for her oc but not many people pointed the fact that she comes off as VERY conceited. I first noticed her tendency to humble brag not because of how many times she simps for her own oc but the times she thanked her fans for helping her reach a certain number of likes on a post. Like, we understand, Rozupan. Of course your post was going to reach 20k likes, this is YOU we're talking about. Have you seen your number of followers? I can completely understand if it's a smaller artist or if it's someone who feels that their artistic skills aren't good enough to receive many compliments or likes, but Rozupan has been doing this shit for YEARS even before her Instagram account so honestly she should be used to the amount of attention she gets. But instead she acts all "OMG IDK HOW I GOT THIS MANY LIKES UWU THANKS SO MUCH!!!" Which to people like me, an artist with a considerably lower follower count than her (who already feels self-conscious about their art) seems very odd and a bit annoying considering I actually DO have anxiety when it comes to people liking my art despite me feeling inadequate about it.
Not to mention the annoying tendency of praising her oc when Nico is basic as fuck. And I really liked Nico's original design, but know she just looks...off I guess. A character with zero substance who gets unrelenting praise from not just the fans but from her creator too. And I'm just here like, I'd like Nico so much more if I knew more about her tf? Why would I like her just because of the way she looks, with a personality being similar to that of a wet paper bag? I try not shallow like that. But Rozupan might be if she expects her fans to like Nico, who's a big fat nothing burger, just because she's attractive.
Other anon made a good point bringing up the fact that Rozupan behaves like someone who has a small following even though she's fully aware that's not the case. I'm not sure why she does this but because the way how she acts and talks about her own oc and other artists with a higher follower count it paints the image of someone who's a bit of an elitist. Top that with her getting offended over ANY ounce of criticism anyone might have of her oc as well as not owning up to the fact that she possibly made a self indulgent self-insert and you get someone who's actually not as humble or sweet as she makes herself off to be. The whole self-insert thing might be a bit of a stretch but the fact that someone complied actually proof of it makes me question her otherwise.
True if someone's oc is bland or if their oc's story has no "flavor" then how could they expect people to not criticize??They should learn to take feedback. I think she acts like she has small account because she wants people to like her so when they see Nickeru they will think positively about her. You might not realize but someone 's personality will affect the outcome of their oc on social media.
For example because of Rin mori and Kora's controversy, the drama and hurt they caused to random gaaoc people now whenever I see their ocs I get turned off. I bet there lots of people like me who probably don't even want to look at their ocs.
I also agree Nickeru's is a self inserted Mary sue because of the evidence that was posted, at least now I see Rozupan is trying to fix Nickeru's appearance.

i think u scared off the liberal
good. i'd be lying to say it didnt get under my skin because even adam noticed it lol. if only it were as simple as "white artist bristles when confronted about a depiction of race" instead of "a frequently hammered nerve was struck involving things anon has no context for, intentionally". grrr growl!!! i tried to talk about this with other people and then pussed out bc i realized no one cares but me. so at least i can ramble about it on my own space.
long post ahead sorry~
even putting my neurosis aside, from where i'm standing, anon's overt discomfort with a depiction of an ethnicity or race involving the use of vernacular is some real fucking bird-brain shit. anon reads "huckleberry finn" and runs off to the library to have it banned for racism lol. like, we're talking that level of intellectual cowardice that turns tail and hides when made merely uncomfortable. anon subscribes to the school of thought that being mean and making me feel bad are the worst crimes someone could ever commit. if i want to be really mean, i think anon has never spoken to another latino person outside of a service worker context.
and like, i understand the initial bristle when confronted with it. it's not as though phonetic accent writing or vernacular usage can't be invoked for racist reasons. but you would literally have to try very hard to read jack, white man for hire, as anything other than the explicit butt of the joke. the latinas poking fun at his discomfort lol wait holy shit i just realized life imitated art. am i a secret genius after all......? (no)
here are the pages in question: i asked people on twitter what they thought but ofc that way i still only hear from people who are likely to ostensibly agree with me. (click for full)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
lol i just realized i missed an overlay layer on the third page. i should fix that.
this is a webcomic with almost, if not more than, 800 pages so some context: white spikey hair boy (jack) is from corpus christi, texas, a city on the gulf of mexico VERY close to the border. jack was always supposed to be from texas bc its a state i have some cultural understanding of. my dad grew up there. my dad is mexican-american. i am bi-ethnic. tri-ethnic, i guess, since the italian/irish half had a massive influence on me growing up as well.
the ladies are members of maxine's (the other protag's) witch coven. these women don't dress like this on a day to day basis (the one in the poncho might since she's a curandera, anyway), the outfits are like uhhh special occasion stuff. its your witch outfit. red bow is wearing like a day to day version of the traditional oaxaca outfits and has her hair pulled back in a traditional braid. the other is wearing just normal shit but with a traditionally patterned (or as much as i could bear to draw) poncho. the egg cleanse is a basic brujeria technique that like, every mexican family knows of at least lol. poncho is cutting the bad airs away, like in this video of a limpia.
the spit is my favorite part of all the limpias lol. WATER CANNON
all of this is just shit i know from growing up. i had to ask help on the spanish bc mine is a double whammy of being both terrible AND non-conversational (i learned all mine in textbooks ( ._.)) but the spanish code-switching to shit talk is how real people behave lol. i know this, because family and friends do it.
i take the character writing of this stupid comic more seriously than it probably deserves. i wanted to make sure it felt authentic and like these were "real" characters. having a world where the only people with personalities are the protagonists leads to a universe that feels flat and empty. a cardboard world. when i was able to use the women from a culture i know as a way to advance the plot, it was a small blessing lol. whew.
i dont really know how to talk about how this relates to me more in depth without compromising my belief that i have a right to privacy when it comes to my personal life lol. my entire existence exists on edges and borders that should not matter to anyone but me; but these details (ethnicity, race, sexuality, gender, etc and so on and you know) have a tendency to become the sole factor through which people view your work, your potential, and the expectations they begin to develop for you. currently, i think the expectations people have set for minority creators fucking sucks and i am relieved not to be a part of the ecosystem that rewards mediocrity and poor quality with accolades and purchases. looking at you, YA fiction and webtoons!!!
quite frankly: the more details people have about your life, the more they are able to scrutinize your authenticity based on their own biases (as the original anon did lol) or whether or not you are "deserving" of the descriptors that you are open about or accumulate over the years. i already have enough problems with this on my own directed at myself. i dont need input from the peanut gallery about my identity when its something ive struggled with and continue to struggle with my entire life.
i am not interested in bothering minority creators with my crybaby shit about how i feel alienated. i don't want inclusion to their groups centered around their unique and more specific experiences out of obligation when i realize the non-minority halves of me have also had massive influence on my upbringing and my beliefs. i dont like having to debates whether or not i am ____ enough to qualify for appearances on lists or databases or awards so i don't bother with any of it. i just want to grill for gods sake
anyway idk. im mad but i also realize a lot of my mad comes from offline baggage that no one is privy to on purpose so i have a hard time gauging how people will read how i write things. but bc i keep it tight to the chest i guess that invites random anons to speculate reasonably that i've transformed into a racist overnight bc they read a character say a double negative. dipshit. fucking moron
anyway

Love you Rosie. Fighting! I know it's hard to take compliments sometines but I have always loved your blog. You have maintained a great inclusive space for Armies for a while. I love your grounded attitude. I love how you are firm with your boundaries but also willing to listen and share your platform, not that you ever need to or that it is what we take for granted. I trust you on issues of racism because you get it. I don't have to worry. I don't have to experience the whiplash I have in other spaces as a POC. I love the way you write about your love and respect for BTS and Jimin and JK as humans and artists. You are sensitive and open. I am sorry you get trolls. I hope these people who write you rude and abusive things know they are not nearly as slick as they think. Sorry if all of that is embarrassing to read but you deserve the love.
I always say that you guys seem to know when I need a message like this and I never lie but anon, today more than ever I needed it. You may not believe me but I cried. I was in my office blocking rude, offensive asks direct to Jungkook and me ahah and among those asks was this one. And I cried because it was too much.
I don't mean to play the victim because nobody forces me to have this blog, nobody forces me to have the anon option on, nobody forces me to respond to asks but still, I feel like some people seem to expect a lot from me and I feel it's not fair. I explained the reasons why I didn't want to start a discussion about JP on my blog but many didn't seem to like it. Some of the insults and accusations I received were unfair but the one that hurt me the most was when someone accused me of lying when I said I was black or Afro-Latino as I explained. That's when I turned off the question option, even though it was only for a few hours. Probably nobody noticed.
The point is, I'm just another bts fan. I'm human, I'm not perfect. I don't always have the answers and I don't always have the ability to talk about a topic. And you should respect that, right? I deserve that at least. I don't HAVE to talk about X or Y topics on my blog and no, not doing so doesn't make me a coward or that I'm running away from topics that don't fit my narrative as someone said yesterday. I just don't do it because I'm not the right person to do it, I don't know much about it or I just don't want to. And that should be respected. It's the least I deserve from some of you.
This is hard ahahah Sorry for taking your asks to vent, anon. I just want to say thank you, thank you for your kind words. Thank you for supporting me or my blog. Thank you for the confidence. You don't know how good it felt to read that I'm not doing so bad around here.
GRACIAS.

Hi! I like your blog. It's inclusive, helpful, and just generally has a warm vibe. And I read your essay-- to answer your question, Latinx started in the same way as Latin@ in that it was a symbolic written representation of inclusiveness and the pronunciation is not literal. Most Spanish-speaking communities that use Latinx today pronounce it with the -e suffix.
And while I love how the comic simply explains what can be complex concepts for monolingual English speakers, I do have a bone to pick with how the comic tacitly dismisses Latinx as a white-washed colonizer term. The artist uses soft language in discouraging it, so the dismissal only becomes explicit when you notice that all the linked readings are anti-Latinx with no Latinx perspectives.
Latinx's exact origins/creator is unclear. Although definitely used in and by Latin American circles, Latinx may very well have been created by a white Latinx. It may have even been created by a white Latinx with no or little understanding of Spanish. But if a term is created to describe oneself, is it self-colonizing? Where is the difference in a person refusing to use correct pronouns because it "imposes beliefs about genders" and refusing to use Latinx because it "imposes English-speaking norms on other cultures"? It's possible to be Latinx and only speak English and they deserve a right to self-identify as much as anyone else.
While anglocentrism and US imperialism in general are Problems that Spanish has to contend with globally, it's also important to remember that Spanish is a colonizer language, too. So while some may perceive it as linguistic submission to use Latinx in an English-dominated culture, for indigenous folks in a Spanish-dominated culture it can be a form of linguistic resistance. Though, at least ime, indigenous folk are just as likely to reject all disambiguations of Latinx/e/@ as its origins are a matter of recorded history (Michel Chevalier, late 1800s) which show the explicit racist and Eurocentric motivations behind its creation.
But the comic wasn't about rejecting Latin@/e. It was about rejecting Latinx. I don't care about what term gets used, but I do care that self-determined labels are respected and Latinx should not be discouraged in the same breath that Latine, Latin@, or Latino/a is.
Hi, Anon! Thank you for the kind words about my blog. :) And thank you for sharing your thoughts and perspectives about Latine and Latinx.
I was worried that the post would get circulated without the tags, but for context, here is a screen grab of the original post that has the tags pasted into the post and the continued of the "essay" in the actual tags:
Tumblr media
[ Image Description: A screenshot of the original post. Below is a transcription of the tags involved. End Image Description ]
Aaand Tumblr ate half my tags because my tag essay was too long. D:
Here’s the original tags and the missing tags:
#when I was in undergrad in a university that was majority Latine#I was involved in some activist circles where people were using the @ symbol#to stand for o + a together#I actually have a t-shirt from a time I went to a protest#that says ‘no somos illegales no somos criminales somos trabajador@s internacionales’#which means 'we aren’t illegals we aren’t criminals we are international workers’#anyway that was the preferred way at the time in those circles for people to signal gender neutral language#after I moved out of Texas and away from the Mexican/U.S. border#I started seeing people online (here on Tumblr) use Latinx#and then I started seeing it elsewhere online#and then about 2.5 years ago someone in my guild (who is Abenaki not Latine)#linked to this comic on Vox in a discussion about gender-neutral language#and whether white Western English-speaking people are engaging in further linguistic colonization#by imposing gender-neutral terms/methods on other languages#(which incidentally was taking place between a French speaker and a Romani guildmate iirc)#and it was really interesting to me because I had long wondered how the x worked in actual words#(like 'amigx’ ??)#and using the instead seemed to make a lot of sense#and there are some very specific feelings about it
#about a year or two later the topic came up again in the guild #this time with a guildmate who is an elder in the community #and said the activist circles he's part of (largely in Arizona) use Latinx not Latine #and he feels as a Chicano (who doesn't speak Spanish because of linguistic oppression in his parents' generation) #that Latinx is the preferred term #and that doesn't even get into things like colonization #as a lot of places where Spanish is spoken are places with Indigenous populations that were colonized #and many Indigenous groups have cultural conceptions of gender that have nothing to do with European concepts of binary gender #so there's like... onion layers going on #which I think many of us in the queer community can relate to #as we have endless conversations about what we should be called and why #so I feel there's a lot of solidarity that can be had
I strongly support self-determination in labels, terms, etc. used in our communities, and I definitely support people choosing to refer to themselves as Latinx.
