We get Katara's pov, and give her agency.

I've seen a lot of people say that Zutara would just work in the live action if they eliminated Aang's crush on Katara in the first couple seasons and NO. no no no no NO. I want Zutara to happen as much as the next person, but I think Aang's crush should stay intact. If they include the want vs need plot line introduced in "The Guru" in book 2, it could be an easy way to launch some much needed character development for Aang. Having him struggle with letting go of an unreciprocated crush at the beginning of book 3 might actually be a jumping off point for what Bryke tried to do with his arc in the final book, making him seem wiser, more mature, and assertive without coming off as a complete jerk like he did in the animated series.

Can you imagine Jon and Sansa reuniting (which actually feels more like meeting for the first time) and absolutely chaotic angsty tenderness unfolding.

Jon’s perception on Sansa…..initially mistaking Sansa as Ygritte and having to pinch himself several times as to how he cannottt be comparing his lover to his sister for gods sake!! What would Ned think ???? But omg when the light from the fire catches in Sansa’s hair….and when she sings in that soft voice of hers and tends him with gentle hands, brushes the hair from his brow (perhaps her lips ghost over it), holds her legs to her chest and just smiles at him with that easy Tully smile, and when she kneels next to Ghost and buries her face in his fur and Jon can’t help but think what a lovely sight it is but Lady is dead and Jon feels immense grief for Sansa because he knows what it feels like to not be able to sense your wolf and Sansa is kind and soothes him when he wakes from nightmares in the middle of the night and sometimes her face will get real close (and she’ll be all flustered) because she’s worried for him and Jon just thinks oh she smells so sweet.. like flowers and lemons , a warm summers day, ahhh the bliss of youth , and sometimes his eyes will flicker to her lips and just linger on her face but then he’ll start blushing like some green boy yet how does he lament this all to his half sister when he can’t even process his own feelings and they all just appear through this conundrum of fleeting moments? To the people who keep pushing the narrative of forgiving abuse, do you not understand that in a situation of abuse, forgiveness is an encouragement to keep the abuse going?

If you want to forgive abuse, you’ll have to do so with no apology, abusers never feeling sorry for a second, never acknowledging they did anything wrong. They will not ask for forgiveness, they will expect it as a given. You have to forgive knowing this person does not feel bad, doesn’t care how their abuse affected you, and will do it again. You do not get a sorry.

And when you do forgive, it’s like a big neon sign for the abuser saying ‘You Can Get Away with It! There Are No Consequences To This Abuse!’ and not only they’ll do it again, but now forgiveness will be expected. If you do not forgive a second time, you’ll be blamed for ‘not fighting them on it earlier’, for acting like you are okay with it! That’s what the forgiveness does!

You’re promising a peace of mind and ease of burden with the effort of forgiveness, but how could anyone have a piece of mind knowing abuse they’ve forced themselves to forgive, is now looming over them, unpredictable to when it’s going to happen again? Knowing that when it does happen, there will be no consequences once again, and you’ll be expected to forgive and forget it immediately? Would you be at peace in the abuser’s mercy like that? Would you want to be told ‘it’s all going to be okay, if you forgive’?

tonights acotar thoughts are with the Illyrian women and how rhysand has utterly failed them despite his supposed efforts

Hes ‘allowed’ them to become warriors if they wish. But thats not even the bare minimum. from my memory he acknowledges that he doesnt enforce the wing clipping laws (smooth move) so that’s basically useless and as to be expected of a man, he misses the point of feminism and equality laws. WHERE are the laws and protections for women in marriages?? if the illyrian are so ‘brutal’ and ‘backwards’ the assumption can be made that divorce isn’t a thing unless the man requests it. No women requested divorces and probably no such thing as no fault divorces. As well as forced marriages (which also brings up the consent age) Adding on, what about abortions and other pre natal and natal laws and protections? again, assuming women arent allowed to have abortions or simply any bodily autonomy, where are those decrees rhysand? Im not even getting into the potential of LGBTQ+ illyrians and their rights (Logically there are LGBTQ+ illyrians but ofc sjm wouldn’t mention them)

He makes such a fuss about it being a womans choice (a hypocrite as we see in acosf) yet unless a woman is able too or wants to fight he doesnt seem to care. Which is also a major flaw of sjms writing, women only gain their independence if they can kick ass and fuck as they want. Which is of course valid but thats a very shallow way to view feminism and equality. The whole point is that a woman can choose, wether its to be a warrior or a stay at home mother, but theres nothing done for those women who want that lifestyle.

This has influenced me in my fic writing a lot to where a this topic has become a major focal point in my fic somewhat by accident. I think that logically there would be a rebellion from mostly illyrian women against rhysand, hes promised them so much yet has delivered so little.

Thinking about Penelope suddenly putting effort into this year’s season because she has reached her limit on being at home with her family who make her feel terrible about herself, and the fact that the end of this story is going to be marrying the freeloading third son of the Bridgerton family and moving in with them, despite the fact that she has made so many of them feel terrible about themselves.
