The lighting makes the color bad which sucks bc I actually made a stain for the (shitty craft) wood pieces which was a very dark gray blue that after several coats made a cool toned black (on previously light wood). And I spent way more time than it looks sanding everything, first for shaping the dowel, and second for cleaning off as much of the shitty glue as I could from adding the wire..I hate gluing things.

I've had trouble finding enough info on balancing rules, but my understanding was more weight lower+weight on outer rim=longer or faster spinning.

The bowl was from some mini pestle and mortar I got years ago off etsy. Doesn't work great for this but it's weirdly hard to find bowls that would be suitable

ABSOLUTELY! Honestly, Lestappen keeps the spirit of (at least MCU) stevetony alive with the Enemies Who Know the Other is Their Only True Equal to Acquaintances Who Are Weird About Each Other to Obsessed Lovers trope, and yeah it does make me laugh a little that red and blue are their Symbolic Colours. I could write a thesis on this, but it's of ZERO surprise to me that there's a strong overlap of past stevetony/current lestappen (much the same way I'm not surprised with the overlap of past stucky/current maxiel).

guys I had this realization the other day that Redwall works really well for reading aloud, and kinda half-remembered something about the author reading to kids? So I looked it up to see if I had made a connection.

And it turns out, yes, actually, because he read aloud to kids at a school for the blind. But all the books they gave him to read were depressing. So he wrote Redwall, a story about heroism and courage and making it through struggles, and filled it with so many sensory, visual details so he could give them something better and I just-- that's so wholesome-- help

personal opinion but. the reason tiktok’s ‘zepotha’ isn’t doing great isn’t because of a lack of cohesion or poor reasoning behind it (although I’m sure these would’ve contributed). It’s because when I was first introduced to Zepotha it was as a fake movie concept. the fact that eric kripke isn't even christian really adds something to the way christianity is depicted on supernatural. because its really not about being christian at all, but about living in america, a country dominated by christianity, and having to decide for yourself how to handle that. faith is huge in supernatural, and the mythology of the show is very bible-centric, but notably, christ is never there. even sam, who starts out revering the angels, who once said he prays every night, doesn't actually call himself a christian or imply that he believes in jesus--the show is steeped in christianity and biblical lore and yet neither sam nor dean are christians. in fact, over and over again the church itself is depicted as a haunted house that sam and dean will only ever enter as strangers, as outsiders. priests, preachers, faith healers, chapels, crypts, etc. are all just iconography that create an intense sense of unease that sam and dean respond to instantly. as a jew, its very relatable. an essential part of living in america when you're not christian is that exact sense of unease, of knowing that the culture of your country has ensured that you'll get knocked over by christianity no matter where you go, that you'll see hundreds of people truly believing they're good people while doing awful things in the name of their god, and you have no choice but to confront that. kripke gets it

miraculous ladybug is a hotbed of whiplash between extremely hard-hitting show-don't-tell writing and expositing-the-point-directly-into-the-camera writing. like the show is constructed so the basic plot can be understood by 6 year olds but then you'll randomly have a scene during a timeskip that shows adrien's room in a depression-induced mess after he quits modelling and it will never be addressed as such but it will neatly convey the disruption to his mental state that a lack of routine causes him. and u just have to deal with both of those things side by side constantly😭
