Normally lady tsushima tane wouldn't be caught dead in a place like suribashi city but they're was rumors about her son shuuji having been seen for the last time here.

The only reasons why she entertain those rumors was that as it's the last sort of place that you would think for the tsushima heir to be and is also the best place for his distateful hobby she can see him hiding here.

It's what bring her with an army of Bodyguard shadowing her to suribashi city, but she didn't found shuuji no while she was searching for him she heard an explosion which brought her to a destroyed building and a little amnesiac red haired boy.

It's more appropriate to say that they found each others him who could only told her the name nakahara and that his name was chuuya and her a sickly woman who was drowning in guilt , she feel like chuuya was the answer that she searched for since the loss of shuuji.

But when she brought him to their home in kanagi she had to fight to make them to accept her decision, her husband Gen’emon though that she lost it but chuuya was a bright child who quickly gained the affection of everyone in the family even her renowned to be difficult to please mother in law safe for her sister in law kye who had been the closest to shuuji.

While she neglected shuuji at best content to treat him like he was dead letting him be raised by her sister in law and the servant she was overprotective with chuuya.

*she refuse to lose him no like ~shuuji~ never again , inforgivable, she won't forgive anyone who try to take him away from her*.

Especially when she learned about his ability, she heard rumor about human with surnaturals ability of course with the influence of the tsushima family it was easy for them to hear about it but it was just that rumor but with chuuya ability she feared even more to lose him.

He was hidden and protected, his friendship and association vetted but learned how to fight to defend himself and was a natural at it but Gen’emon died in an accident and tane succumbed to her illness .

After their death and despite the objection of his adoptive brother bunji ( who only accepted if he agree that he will stay in an appartment provided by the tsushima family and be protected by security) , he choose to study at the university of Yokohama.

Here he heard from his friends and classmates about a notorious detective agency and went there to try to learn about his past but make the acquaintance of an annoying man that was strangely familiar to him he have a stricking physical similarities with the pictures of shuuji that his adoptive mother showed him .

They didn't get along but would also meet when chuuya went at the arcade at first it was a coincidence and both refused to left but then they learned more about each others and dazai learned that it wasn't a plot by the tsushima family to bring him back here they still had many bickering but what bonded them the most was when chuuya was kidnapped and the ability that he suppressed was activated to everyone shock.

When they learned about it the tsushima family tried to lock him up in the mansion to protect him but dazai went there braving his trauma for chuuya and had a long conversation with bunji with the help of kye, he agree to let him stay in Yokohama and work part time in the detective agency to help control his ability but the ADA and the government should protect him one more kidnapping attack and he come back to kanagi.

Dazai end up moving into his appartment well mooching off on him should be more appropriate because the damn mackerel doesn't make the chore and is annoying when he does it nor does he pay the bill because he argue that he's too poor for that, his comeback " but i'm here to protect you of course o'chibi i promised your brother and i'm so nice to do it for free you should pay me back and pamper me" when he talk about kicking him out only annoy him.

They end up together but dazai only agree to see a select few members of the tsushima family amongst them his aunt kye which while he's loyal and grateful to the tsushima family and love them , he doesn't argue against it , understanding that dazai was hurt by them and accepting it .

Dazai canonically rambling about his loved ones at every possible opportunity is so dear to me.

Mori knew a lot of the things he did about Oda because Dazai told him. Akutagawa also knew about Oda and how important he is to Dazai because of Dazai's ramblings. Random, unnamed PM members know about Oda being very dear to Dazai, because Dazai praises him and talks about how great he is.

Chuuya knew straight away that Dazai had been speaking about him to the ADA. It wasn't something he expressed feeling betrayed or suprised about. It was just an immediate understanding that of all the ways they could probably have known about him and his ability despite it being confidential information in the PM, Dazai's ramblings were most likely the reason.

The way that Dazai speaks about Ranpo to quite literally anyone who will listen. To Fydor, to random cops, to Atsushi.

Dazai canonically brags about the people he cares about in an 'omg omg omg my person my people I love them look how amazing they are' way.

Dazai doesnt belong in the pm. he never did. heres why

in the pm, dazai calls chuuya his "dog". akutagawa is referred to as "the rabid dog of the port mafia". when we first meet akutagawa, he calls higuchi "a useless cur" (cur means an agressive dog or one in poor condition). we can see that the port mafia is full of dogs.

in The Day I Picked Up Dazai, oda refers to seeing dazai as a stray cat (i think). almost every headcanon associates dazai with being a black or stray (or both) cat.

and then we have the ada.

one of their employees litterly turns into a tiger. the president is obsessed with cats.

in the pm, dazai was a stray cat in a den of dogs. thats why he fits in/cares about the ada. he fits there, feels at home.

Random headcannons I have about the Agency living in the dorms.

Atsushi is banned from cleaning and doing any chores other than his own. Because he cleans like he's back in the Orphanage.

Dazai is banned from the kitchen indefinitely after setting it on fire on his first day while making toast at 4am.

There's a whiteboard in the communal area with everyones daily tasks, a shopping list, who's turn it is to do certain things etc.

There's also a drawing from Kenji to brighten everyone's morning and yes it's usually a cow.

Infact a lot of his and Kyouka's drawings having been put on the walls and fridge. Along with some of Dazai's... Well after Kunikida deemed them appropriate of course.

They have weekly movie nights where they write titles of what they want to watch and than draw them out of a hat at random.

Said hat has sometimes ended up being Chuuya's hat (Dazai stole it.) It's gotten to where the door is left unlocked for Chuuya to charge in (without breaking down the door) and retrieve his hat.

Sometimes they manage to convince him to stay and watch movies with them. If he does, he's not allowed to sit next to Dazai because they'll argue throughout the whole thing.

Kyouka and Junichiro like to bake together and whenever they do Ranpo is always the first to offer to taste test.

There's jars with everyones names on them known as the bail jars. Kunikida's is used the most out of everyone else's.

The older members go for a night out of drinking on Friday nights. They invite Katai (as they do with movie nights) and each of them take turns being the designated driver.

But this doesn't always go to plan and on those days Junichiro will show up to drive them back to the dorms. (Listen if the kid can pilot a helicopter I think he can drive a car.)

The underaged members of the Agency will have a game night. They play a punch of video and board games, sometimes as teams and other times individually.

The points are added up and the winner is declared.

It's fair because the younger members of the Agency can't drink and the older ones are banned from game night. Because they get way to over competitive, looking at you Yosano.

No ones allowed to bring work home with them. Atsushi and Kunikida break this rule constantly and have been reprimanded by the others.

When there's unrest around them, someone's having nightmares, or it's an anniversary of a tragedy, whatever it is on those nights where one or all of them are struggling they all have a sleepover in the communal area.

They all take their blankets and keep each other close. Sometimes they'll talk and sometimes they won't. They just need everyone close.

Fukuzawa doesn't live in the dorms but he lives nearby and drops in regularly to check up on everyone.
