After President Abraham Lincoln was shot during a performance of Our American Cousin at Ford's Theatre, several doctors who were in the audience and also enjoying the play rushed into the Presidential Box and began attending to the President. It was clear that Lincoln's wounds were almost certainly mortal, but the doctors still attempted to save his life. Originally thinking that the President had been stabbed, they soon found that he had been shot behind the left ear and the bullet -- a 43.75 mm ball which had been fired by John Wilkes Booth's .44 caliber Derringer -- had sliced through Lincoln's brain and lodged behind his eye sockets without exiting the skull. When Lincoln's breathing became more shallow, Dr. Charles Leale used his finger to remove blood clots from the wound, which immediately improved Lincoln's respiration.

The doctors decided to move Lincoln from the theater, but felt that the President's condition was far too weak to risk taking him back to the White House, which was several blocks away. A nearby saloon was considered just as unseemly of a place for the President to spend his last hours and likely die in as a theatre, so Lincoln was carried across the 10th Street to William Petersen's boarding house. When they brought Lincoln into the boarding house, they realized that the 6'4" President was too tall for the bed they found for him, so they laid him diagonally upon it.

It was obvious that Lincoln could not survive his wound, so the attending doctors simply tried to keep him comfortable in his final hours by clearing the blood clots in his skull that caused his breathing to become more labored. Throughout the night, the President never regained consciousness, but witnesses said that he looked peaceful as his life was drawing to a close. The only visible evidence of his mortal wound were the bloody pillows that his head rested on and the raccoon-like bruising around Lincoln's eye sockets due to the orbital bones fractured by Booth's bullet after it passed through his brain. Nine hours after he was shot, Lincoln died in Petersen's Boarding House at the age of 56.

Shortly after the President was pronounced dead, his body was placed in a coffin and transferred back to the White House in a carriage. Just a few hours later, one of the residents of Petersen's Boarding House, Julius Ulke, took a photograph (seen at the beginning of this post) of the room and the bed -- including a pillow soaked with the President's blood -- where Lincoln had died earlier that morning.

Suspicious deaths of Russian businesspeople (2022–2023)

Despite the title, it's not limited to people in business – though they do make up the bulk of the names. It includes politicians and anybody who might loosely be considered an opponent of Putin. If I counted correctly, there are 44 names – with Yevgeny Prigozhin and his deputy being the last two. It does not include people who were killed before the start of 2022. This shorter list from Yahoo UK does include several victims killed earlier.

Putin is running his own version of Murder Incorporated out of the Kremlin. The excellent investigative journalism site Bellingcat wrote about a branch of the FSB (successor to the KGB) which is in charge of political hits.

The in-depth article concentrates on one case but there's a lot of information which details overall operations of Putin's murder bureaucracy.

Putin's old day job was a colonel in the KGB. In Soviet times the KGB and its predecessors had a department nicknamed "wet affairs" (мокрые дела) which engaged in assassinations. It engineered the murder of Leon Trotsky in Mexico.

Killing opponents is in Putin's blood. The only differences are that in this century Putin has no qualms about operating inside Russia itself and against supposed opponents who don't directly threaten him. Putin is as paranoid as Stalin.

It's puzzling to consider how Prigozhin probably knew all this but still thought he could go about his business as usual.

One lesson here is that if you are taking action against Putin, don't stop before you've completed it. The June mutiny may have succeeded if Prigozhin didn't get wet feet on the road to Moscow – and it would be Putin who had the most high profile funeral in Russia this year.

Twenty-Four Years Later, Lies About JFK Jr. Death Continue

On July 16, 1999, John F. Kennedy, Jr., son of the assassinated president, perished along with his wife and sister-in-law, when the plane he was piloting plunged into the ocean off of Martha’s Vineyard, Mass. Many questions remain about this suspicious incident, none of them ever raised by any professional “investigative” journalists.

This writer conducted the first independent investigation into the death of JFK Jr. and published the results in the book Hidden History: An Expose of Modern Crimes, Conspiracies, and Cover-Ups in American Politics (available from AFP for $23). Research revealed that JFK’s son had a burning quest, behind the scenes, to find out the truth about the death of his father. Several people have confirmed this, including his high school girlfriend, and a member of his close adult inner circle, who very strongly demanded anonymity. Kennedy had read the conspiracy books, and the subject seems to have become a point of contention between him and his older sister Caroline.

At the time of his death, he had scheduled an interview with journalist Wayne Madsen for a position with George magazine, where his first assignment was to investigate the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Other inside sources acknowledged that JFK Jr. was about to launch his political career. Many felt he would opt for the open Senate seat from New York, which eventually went to Hillary Clinton. Others thought he might very well just start with a run for governor, or even for the presidency itself.

In March 1999, Kennedy had supposedly held an exploratory meeting about running for the Senate. JFK Jr. died just days after Hillary expressed an interest in running for the Senate seat. Given the notorious reality of the huge Clinton body count, some have naturally found that curious.

The unedited coverage of local news broadcasts during the search for Kennedy’s missing plane contained numerous references by various on-air reporters to a 9:39 p.m. phone call made by JFK Jr. to the airport, reporting all was well and awaiting landing instructions. This was important, because it would eventually be claimed that JFK  Jr.’s plane went into a death spiral at the very same moment.

When researchers later requested video of these newscasts, the networks deleted every single reference to this 9:39 p.m. phone call from the tapes. This was clearly not an accident. It was akin to Winston Smith at the Ministry of Truth sending the information that conflicted with a narrative down the memory hole. This was in spite of the fact that the Coast Guard sent out petty officer Todd Burgun to give an interview to local television, on the very subject of this 9:39 p.m. phone call. Reporter Susan Wornick, who interviewed him on air, never answered any of this author’s emails requesting a comment. The interview itself, like all the other coverage touching upon this verboten phone call, was edited out of the footage.

There were two key witnesses in the case whose testimony alone destroyed the official theory that Kennedy’s plane went down because of pilot error. Attorney Victor Pribanic described hearing an explosion coming from that location just before the time of the supposed crash. More interestingly, a still unidentified reporter with a local Martha’s Vineyard newspaper claimed to have seen an explosion in the sky at the same time. This author spoke to a local news reporter who had met and gotten the story from this still unknown reporter first hand. The details are all in Hidden History. Like the 9:39 p.m. phone call, this reporter has also vanished down the memory hole.

The state-controlled media constructed a narrative built around JFK Jr. being a “reckless” and unqualified pilot. Interviews with his flight instructor suggested otherwise, but the “reckless” mantra prevailed. More importantly, the public was told that it was dangerous to fly that night, because of the deep “haze” that made it difficult to navigate. In fact, the man who wrote the official weather report for the FAA disagreed vehemently in public with this contention. He blasted the media for all their lies and distortions about how “dangerous” and “hazy” the weather was, maintaining that conditions were actually fine that night. Yet, the disinformation continues, as every mainstream piece on the subject blames Kennedy’s “recklessness” and the bad weather for what happened.

It is interesting to consider what private conversations might have taken place behind the scenes, between John F. Kennedy Jr., and his cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr. As we all know now, RFK Jr. has an intense interest in the subject of both Kennedy assassinations and has publicly charged the government with killing both his father and his uncle.

Booth had died onstage dozens of times in Richard III, Hamlet, and Shakespeare's other great tragedies, but tonight he was not playacting. He wanted to go down fighting, not hang like a petty thief. "I have too great a soul to die like a criminal," he wrote in his diary a few nights before. "Oh may he, may he spare me that and let me die bravely." For Booth, this was his final and greatest performance, not just for the small audience of soldiers at the improvised theatre of Garrett's farm, but also for history.

He had already perpetrated the most flamboyant public murder in American history. Indeed, Booth had not only committed murder, he had performed it, fully staged before a packed house. At Ford's Theatre, Booth broke the fourth wall between artist and audience by creating a new, dark art -- performance assassination.

Edwin Booth actually saved Robert Todd Lincoln. His brother was also involved with the Lincoln family, albeit more fatally.

Guns are dumb. We should get rid of them.

Like, murders were so creative before guns became mainstream. Assasinations aren't what they used to be these days. What happened to teaming up with your buddies to stab your other buddy 23 times? What happened to cynanide poisoning?

And ya know, in places where guns aren't widely available, we still get badass assasinations. People are stabbed in the neck! Their murders are personal! It's intimate! If you want someone gone, you really have to mean it. You have to be prepared to look them in the eye and watch as their life slowly drains out. Murder actually MEANS something to these people.

So yeah, I think guns are the bane of poetic human existence and we should go back to personally killing people with our own bare hands.
