I have been told by my deities to list stuff I've been doing to work on myself instead of focusing on all the negative shit
so here it goes
-
I cleaned and decluttered our room. It's much easier to look at now, although there's still some more stuff I'd like to get rid of
-
I started making plans for each day and/or the week of stuff I want to get done
-
I've been trying to work with my autism and adhd instead of giving up because of issues that come with it
-
i've been trying to brush my teeth more. i've brushed my teeth like 4-5 times in the past week which is more than like the past two months so-
-
i bought this skincare product we've been wanting to buy for a while and it's gotten me motivated to take care of our body more
-
i've started drawing as a coping mechanism
-
i started some chemistry courses online instead of just thinking about it and then being upset i didn't do anything about it
-
in the past two weeks (?) i've taken meds twice between 6pm and 6am (for context, I have an very severe delusion where if i take any sort of medication between 6pm and 6am, i will be kidnapped and taken away. this has been going on for MONTHS, so the fact that i've been able to do it twice is a very good step)
-
i've been spending less time on our phone. granted it has mostly been switched to our computer, but we have gone from like an 8 hour screen time average to a 3-4 hour screen time average, so like p r o g r e s s
-
i've been communicating better. and by communicating better i mean that like 3 times i was able to tell people to leave me alone cause i wasn't doing well but that's progress as well because most of the time i usually suffered in silence until either i blew up at everyone and got into screaming matches or i internalized everything and then went back to our room and played fruit ninja
-
i'm getting back into floor time and blanket burritos. this has nothing to do with working on myself i just wanted to share

Seeing Bobby with that baby this week has given me Bathena with a baby fic fever
So now the real question is, do I write younger Bathena AU type fic with a baby or do I write canon Bathena gets a grandkid via May type fic?
Either way, I need Robert Wade Nash to hold a baby again

The Preparation for Ajax's Suicide (Black-Figure Technique, Amphora by Exekias), Greek 550-525 BC, Château-Musée de Boulogne-sur-Mer, France.
We know the story, how Aias the son of Telamon (or Ajax the Great) loses his senses because of Athena and attacks a flock of sheep because the armor of Achilles was given to Odysseus instead of himself. Ashamed by his action and horrified he comits suicide by throwing himself on his sword.
Even if the vases depicting his suicide are extremely powerful I think nothing tops this masterpiece! Not only we do have the amazing tecnique of Exekias with the amazing engraved details from the Gorgoneion on the shield till Ajax's hair and beard
Tumblr media
The methodical way he prepares himself for the end is giving such a tension in the atmosphere! And so much contrasting his madness that brought him there! There is a slow pace here that prepares you for the end! He almost seems to be patting his sowrd with care! The fall of a great warrior that is about to go down ashamed!
but also by the amazing thematic. The tension is so much greater because we see how Ajax prepares himself for the end. He is alone. There is no one around but a palm tree (ironically the palm tree is called "phoenix" in greek, similar sounding to the bird phoenix that signifies death and rebirth) wich is there only to show where he is.
His armor is placed to the side and he himself is naked; stripped off anything that made him a warrior. The way even his face shows his tension in this seems great to me.
And the way he places the sword to the ground and makes sure that the sword would stay still and steady as he is ready to fall on it!
~~
Ajax is mentioned to my analysis here as well as to the third part of my faniction The Death of Odysseus

I finally figured out how to use my loom!! I used acrylic for the warp so it's a bit wonky but I have cotton yarn I'm planning to use for the next thing I try, so it should work better. I'm excited to start on Athena's altar cloth but it's gonna have to wait until I'm able to get the rest of the yarn done.

The Strength of Last Night (9-1-1 7.10)
It says a lot about a person's strength to have aspiration for another person, a person who has caused an equal amount of pain and grief to not only themselves, but to others in the same exact moment --- and to not be able to forgive them. They do not let hate consume them. Instead of revenge - an eye for an eye - they strive to use their second chance at life helping others.
Bobby and Amir are only two of the strongest individuals 9-1-1 has introduced us to.
Athena's love for her family, hunting down the truth to find the person how tried to take everything away from her and Bobby---take them away...Athena is so strong, showing strength in holding back when we all know she wanted to pull the trigger, so adamant that she found the person responsible---felt it in her bones that the man in front her of is the one.
Eddie, no matter how much pain and sorrow you feel right now, how much heartbreak and tears you shed, you let Christopher go, because right now...him leaving is what is best for your son. You give everything for your world, for your son, at whatever cost it does to you. You are so strong in letting him go. Just know that it will not be forever. Yes, he is mad, but he is also grieving. Be strong for him now. We all know how strong you can be...will be.
Hen you are so strong at not scooping Mara up and running when you had the chance. To see your daughter (and we all know she belongs with the Wilson's--and Buckley-Han's) falling back into herself...having the strength to leave when all you want to do is stay...Hen, oh Hen. This journey has been tough, but your strength in self and family will always show you the way, even if it is a path you and Karen may not have even thought of...your family did and they have your back. You can always count on Chimney and Maddie to come through for you and your family.
Evan Buckley...you not only had to resign yourself to the fact that the child you see as a son leaving, but you also had to watch your best friend break in ways you have never witnessed before. Buck, you are so strong in your support for your family and there is never any doubt that you will be there for them no matter what you are doing, where you are at, what time of day it is...you will there. For Bobby and the unsurety of his recovery, for Eddie and Chris (and all of the grief and anger in between), for Tommy.
No one has forgotten Tommy's little comment of, "God, I hope so."
We all know how strong the 118 Fire-Family is. There is no question about their strength; physical, mental, emotional...everyone is going to needs their strength, and the strength of their loved ones for this next season, because lord have mercy on their souls. The 118 has a new captain in its midst and this man is not a good one.

On that trojan war au thing you're writing. 1. What are the tags for it, cause I'm super interested! And would love to read what you have so far! 2. "And Odysseus is a much grimmer darker man due to his home being one of the places that were first swallowed up by Erebus" - I wanna know more about this. Please tell me more.
Oh , wow, I'm so flattered! I'm very happy it sounds appealing to you <33 This work is a huge passion project of mine so I'm always glad to talk more and more about it, especially since there are many aspects occurring in the background (such as the alternate fates of the main players of the Trojan Conflict) which I cannot properly cover or even explain within the events of the novel itself.
That said: 1) If you mean tags as in ao3 - unfortunately, this work isn't on ao3 my friend :( As I said above, these are elements and concepts in the greek mythology based-fantasy novel I'm currently writing (the concept of which I outlined here in the introductory post of my novel concept!) As for wanting to read whatever writing I currently have available: I currently have three fics available on ao3 that are written in my Pursuing Daybreak verse!
The Prince and Princess series deal with a young Apollo and Artemis and the many consequences they face after Apollo has slain Python. The two works uploaded right now are Exeunt Phoebus Apollo which covers the murder trial of Python and Manent Apanchomene Artemis which covers the intense feelings of helplessness and alienation Artemis experiences after Apollo returns from his banishment and is completely changed. Both of these have themes of family, grief and relationship exploration at their heart.
The third bit of writing I have up is quite outdated but does cover the immediate aftermath of Hyacinthus' death. It's called A Petal Falleth and features Apollo making one of those Big Silly Decisions that have completely unintended but extremely important consequences: namely, instead of the larkspurs being made of Hyacinthus' spilt blood, Apollo anchors the boy's soul to the flowers so Thanatos wouldn't take him. Like the Dawn is also set in this world but because it is nsfw in nature, I wouldn't recommend it as easily as the other three bits of writing. If you don't mind the whole naked men thing though, I'd definitely suggest reading Like the Dawn for a better idea of what my current writing is like (along with eventually getting to see characters like Hector, Andromache and Cassandra/Helenus) Like the Dawn's themes are also different to the other three works with it focusing more on the power dynamics of a god/mortal relationship, exploring masculinity and masculine sexuality and self discovery.
The running theme here, of course, is that all of these bits of writing are centered on Apollo/Artemis or Hyacinth because my novel itself is centered around them. There are, of course, other important characters and figures like Eros, Psyche, Penthesilea and Iaso (one of Asclepius' daughters) but while there is the definite presence of characters from the Trojan War they most certainly aren't at the center of the novel (and the ones that are aren't the Greeks but rather the Trojans i.e Hector, Alexander, Andromache, Cassandra, Helenus, Aeneas, so on and so forth.)
2) The basis of the apocalypse in my work is cosmological! Due to Apollo's err-- untimely departure, there's no longer anyone maintaining the axis of the heavens or the navel of the earth. Because of this, Erebus - whose darkness is usually kept firmly in the spaces between the realms - begins to spill out into both the heavens and the earth. The beasts of Erebus (referring primarily to the Seven Curses - Old Age, Misery, Deceit, Violence etc etc) consume, torment and destroy whatever is inside of Erebus' darkness and Ithaca, as one of the islands on the far edge of the world, was one of the very first places that were devoured in this manner. Odysseus was visiting the Argives at the time for a festival and had left the pregnant Penelope at home since he didn't want her to suffer through the voyage in discomfort. He only finds out about the destruction of Ithaca after it had already been consumed when Athena personally interrupts a feast to warn both him and Diomedes. Needless to say, Odysseus, like everyone else, assumes that everyone on Ithaca has died and thusly is a very, very different man in terms of humour and comport. A part of him still stubbornly clings to the belief that Penelope managed to escape - that she was smart and resourceful enough to see the end approaching and do her best to escape - but that doesn't stop him from being dour for the majority of the time. Diomedes does his best to keep his spirits up in the meantime. Without him around, Odysseus is something of a black hole when it comes to the oppressiveness of his discontent though he does manage to lighten up when in the company of Helen, Clytemnestra and even Menelaus on occasion.
#ginger answers asks#ginger chats about greek myths#Diomedes did a lot to coax Odysseus out of his initial shock when Athena delivered the news#Pretty much the only thing that stuck was Ody getting into the habit of whittling wooden horses and ships#He used to speak to Penelope's stomach and tell a bunch of stories about his youth and adventures#Now he speaks to himself while he's whittling because it makes him feel like he's still speaking to Telemachus#Ody doesn't grieve Penelope at all btw He refuses to behave like she's dead until the gods personally tell him or he sees a body#DIomedes very much thinks it's unhealthy and is very worried for his bestie but he's very deliberately left that topic for Helen#and Clytemnestra to deal with. Like he punches things he can't really do that for Ody's mental health alas#pursuing daybreak posting#The Seven Curses all have names btw#And Erebus isn't really doing anything malevolently either#The gods carved the world sky and ocean out of the darkness - it's their responsibility to maintain it#Of course Nyx and Himera originally held the job of keeping Erebus' darkness at bay#But that power is one that's been broken up and passed down between the generations to prevent precisely this event from happening#Nyx's Night and Himera's Day was first given to Ouranos so he could govern the boundary between the world and the darkness without fail#Ouranos' daughters received Night - specifically Theia and Phoebe#and his sons received Day - namely Hyperion and Coeus#Apollo - ever the overachiever however - ends up being overwhelmingly endowed with these attributes and then some considering#he also gets Delphi - the center of the earth - when he slays Python#So when he errr left to get some milk so to speak - the entire order of things went with him#The remaining balance-keepers are Hecate and Artemis and both of them are Night which is too close to Erebus anyway#So y'know things aren't good like at all LMFAO#Anyway I talked a lot - thank you very much again for asking!! If you have any more questions let me know :D#ginger rambles#odysseus#apollo#erebus#diomedes#greek mythology

How do I apologize for being an utterly terrible scum of a Person that started a Scummy trend that I can't stop even after I tried to
Tumblr media
“Well.. Apologizing can be difficult. You can’t control other people’s actions, and you shouldn’t take credibility for them.”
Tumblr media
“There come a point where you have to just apologize for what you did and move on. Living with guilt.. isn’t healthy, and you have to forgive yourself too.”

Sunday Silliness 🤪
Athena Cykes: Some days, you just feel empty.
Athena: Some days, you just feel so empty, that you don't know what you're feeling.
Athena: Some days, you just feel like, you've got your emotions under control and your stress isn't that bad.
Athena: Sometimes, all it takes for you to realize how wrong you is when you go to put up a ladder, turn around for one second, and have it hit you on the back of your head and cause you to go into a break down.
Athena: And sometimes, when there's Public Safety people to check on you, you're crying so much and feel like you're having so much trouble breathing, that you end up raising your voice and end up getting scolded for it.
Athena: And when you go out to fill in the form saying you don't need medical attention, you end up making it so that the Public Safety people think you're gonna hurt yourself and call someone to talk to you. And while they wait, they make meaningless small talk and don't even bother acknowledging your existence unless you speak to them.
Athena: And while you're waiting for that person to come in, you're left wondering maybe you should've gotten checked on and you're panicking about whether you might've made the biggest mistake of your maybe-shortened life. And it's hard to tell whether you have symptoms or if the freezing-cold air of the room you're stuck in is causing those symptoms because it's blasting the air right at you.
Athena: But then, when the person comes in, and their name literally translates to "The Hero" in another language, it makes everything better. They're your hero, and they've made your day so, so much better.
Athena: Mental health, everyone. Talk to someone about your stresses and see what you can do to handle them better. Especially for all of you neurodivergent folks out there! It never hurts to ask questions and talk about how you're feeling!
Athena: Say "OBJECTION!!!" to stewing in your unknown sea of emotion and waiting for the geyser to blow!
