Okay, so I‘ve had this story idea- TWO YEARS AGO. I haven‘t started writing it yet, because I have so many other projects running, but I at least wanted to share the idea wit you all. Maybe you like it as much as I do.
SHIELD ACADEMY AU:
Clint Barton (just turned 19), got recently released from juvenile prison, where he was sent for a short detention time by a judge who was sick and tired of repeatedly seeing him charged with smaller crimes. He‘s out now, lives in a shared apartment with a 4years older Brock Rumlow (uhum) in a small town. To get through his probation time, he needs to keep a job. News travel fast in the small town and he lost his two last jobs. His social worker and somehow friend Phil Coulson (Yeah we need Phil) gets him at job at a janitor at SHIELD Academy, which is located outside town. Clint hates it, but takes the job, because damn he needs it. Principle Fury and his second in command Maria Hill (who else?) are sceptical, but they owe Coulson a favor, so they give Clint a chance.
Enter the rest of the Avenger crew as teachers- suggestions about who could teach what can be taken, but I have a rough idea. Of course they get curious why a kid suddenly works at the academy. The first approaches don‘t go well. Clint feels super uncomfortable at an elite Academy for the offsprings of all the rich and important people. It takes a while, but eventually Clint opens up a little- following is a reveal of a troubled childhood, a bunch of triggers and fears, an abusive room mate, zero self worth on Clint‘s side, stumbling into drug dramas with the not so clean students of the academy, developing friendships and ultimately - WinterHawk ship.
It‘s all planned out, and will maybe never see the light of day as a story, but I at least wanted to share the idea.
Opinions welcome

One of the weirdest days ever…
Tumblr media
My life is usually boring. I write, do my caregiver duties, and then fall back on some magazines, novels, manga, anime, movies, video games, or YouTube surfing. You know, the usual. I mostly stay inside these days (I’m basically one slap away from being a full-on hikikomori), as there isn’t much out there that’s interesting enough to make me venture out of my little safety bubble. Especially with all these shootings and crap going on.
Sometimes, however, I have to leave my bubble, so my Baby Squirrel and I hiss at the daylight and shakily make our way to wherever we have to go, quickly finish our business, then scuttle back to our lair as fast as our little furry feet can take us. Usually. Then there are some days that are so bizarre that they kind of make you glad you left the house for a change. Like the other day, when it seemed like there was so much weirdness building up and waiting to be released the second we left our bubble.
Our mission was simple: drop some packages off at the post office. Simple, right? Well…
There is a DART train we usually get on to go to Downtown Dallas that pretty much takes us straight to the post office, and it’s fairly close to where my baby squirrel lives. We began boarding the train, talking about what game we would play when we returned, when we stopped dead in our tracks as we saw a woman ¾ naked and peeing enthusiastically. In the train. She was on the other end of the boarding area about five feet away, so we could still board, but that didn’t stop her from peeing and stumbling about while she did so. The other passengers seemed to be ignoring her, though for the life of me, I have no idea how.
Several stops later some police officers came on the train and escorted her out, but not before she (for some reason) came wobbling towards me with wide eyes and a frightened look like I was going to save her or something. I wasn’t; I didn’t. The train reeked the entire rest of the way, which was a good half hour…
:shudder:
The only other interesting thing that happened on the train was this woman walking past me wearing a bandana that covered her entire head. Like, you couldn’t even see any of her forehead, face, or anything. It was all covered. I mean, I’m all for masking up in close proximity or around people of dubious hygiene and such – or if you have any sort of communicable disease – but the entire head? That was a first. I don’t even know how she could see through that motherfucker!
It only gets weirder, y’all…
So we finally got to the post office, right? Literally the first thing we hear is this old man arguing with the receptionist about taking his package, yelling at the top of his lungs that just because he has COVID doesn’t mean he can’t mail things out. He was completely unmasked, mind you, and the receptionist seemed about three seconds away from decking him.
The only words I really heard at first was that he had COVID, so I immediately took my baby squirrel and got far away from him. She, as a cancer survivor who isn’t entirely in the clear yet, does not need her compromised immune system exposed to someone walking around with COVID – especially someone with no mask on. So we waited, and I barely blinked as I watched this dude, but finally he took his package and left the building, obviously disgusted.
Some people just… I don’t know. The way they think just baffles me…
Anyway, fast forward through a myriad of tiny events to the end of the day, and just when I thought things couldn’t get any stranger, we decided to call it a night and go to bed. As we often do before sleeping, we turned on TikTok to entertain ourselves.
It was all fairly normal until we decided to watch one more video and then call it a night.
That video? You’re going to think I’m lying, but I’m honestly not: it was of a real-life pigeon body slamming a real-life kitten and then repeatedly wing-slapping it. All we could do was look at each other and nearly die from laughing.
It was the perfect punctuation for our bizarre day…

"✨ MEET MY NEW MUSE ✨
This is what my last brain cell looks like after losing an entire manuscript to a computer glitch: a wobbly bubble creature blowing toxic skull bubbles while standing in a puddle of its own essence.
Not to be dramatic, but I've never related to anything more in my life.
Writers, this is your reminder that sometimes you just need to laugh at the absurdity of it all. One minute you're crafting elaborate fantasy worlds with complex magic systems, the next you're staring at your blank screen contemplating a new career writing children's books about sentient soap bubbles with poor life choices.
Einstein (my dog and literary critic) suggests that perhaps this bubble creature needs to appear in my next book as a manifestation of writer's block. I'm not saying he's right, but I'm not saying he's wrong either.

Halloween Vibes and Self-Reflection
Tumblr media
Halloween has always been a weird holiday for me. I mean, don’t get me wrong—I love dressing up, I love candy (way too much), and I love all the spooky decorations. But there’s something about Halloween that hits a little differently the older I get. Like, it’s no longer just about the costumes or parties; it’s a weird blend of nostalgia and low-key self-reflection.
Remember when Halloween was all about the excitement of knocking on strangers’ doors and getting a sugar high that lasted until Thanksgiving? (Not even joking.) Now, it’s about questioning why I’m still tempted to eat a whole bag of fun-sized Snickers when I *know* better. Also, is it just me, or does Halloween make you think about all the versions of yourself you’ve “dressed up” as in real life? The person you were, the person you’re trying to be—heavy stuff for a holiday that involves fake blood and zombie makeup.
        But I digress.
These days, I’m all about low-key Halloween celebrations. Throw on a witch hat (because duh), binge-watch something spooky, maybe get a little deep with my thoughts (hello, existential crisis). It’s simple, it’s cozy, and honestly, it feels just right.
So yeah, Halloween might not be the wild, sugar-fueled chaos it used to be for me, but in its own way, it’s become a night to embrace where I am, who I am, and yes, still enjoy some candy. Because, let’s be real—I will always have room for candy.

Writers Block
The bane of every author on the planet.
Every writer procrastinates writing at some point and then when you get into a momentum, you run into a wall. Getting through writers block is kind of like constipation, it's a hard push but you need to do it.
Problem: Lack of Ideas
Solutions: Listen to instrumental, cinematic, or music in a different language. Pintrest has a lot of stuff. Look at fashion, writing prompts, house interiors, wacky furniture. Read magazines, fanfiction, and textbooks. Read books. Read genres you don't normally read. Watch tv shows and movies. Read blog posts. Mythology has some pretty crazy things. Read mythology from different parts of the world. Listen to talks on the radio. Ask someone to tell you a story. Talk to people. Make some new friends. Ideas come when we least expect them. Go outside. Exercise. Go shopping. Where there is life, there are ideas.
Problem: Not sure what happens next
Solution: Talk to yourself. Honestly, this works. Tell yourself what is happening in the story and why. What is the plot? Why is this scene important and does it drive the plot forward? How does the scene drive the plot forward? If it doesn't drive the plot then does the character learn something new? Does the character grow? How do your characters behave and why do they behave that way? Treat your characters like they are real people. They are in real situations. They have motivations that drive them. If they don't have a motivation, create one. They suddenly lose their home or a family member. Give them a stake in the story. Sometimes if it's a plot problem, you might need to scrap a previous chapter and start over. Like life, your current problem was probably created by a mistake in the past. Critically, look over what you've previously written and think about if that gives you the foundation to get to where you want to go. There are tons of different paths a story can take. Maybe the path you are currently on isn't the right one.
Problem: Staying true to the original idea
Solution: Ideas evolve. If you really want a certain scene in the book, write it down in a separate doc and save it for later. Instead of trying to force a scene in chapter 4, maybe the scene will fit better in chapter 15. Sometimes the solution is to just get rid of the scene or chapter all together. As you write, the story will take on a life of it's own. It will become the world that you have built. Like a parent that raises a kid, eventually the kid will be its own person. There will be something you really want to write and it just won't work for this book/short story/post/whatever. Save the idea for something else. Your ideas can and will change and that's good. So, let it be.
Problem: You just can't write
Solution: Write. Write the first thing that comes into your head. Get it on the page. Don't care if it's utter nonsense. You can always go back and fix it. Or take a break for a few days and think about something that's not writing for a bit. Then come back to the story with a fresh perspective. Or try Concept Mapping which is picking a word or idea and then connecting it to anything even remotely related.
Problem: You aren't focused
Solution: Turn off the phone. Hide it. Unplug the internet. Shut off the WiFi. Open up a word doc and type. Get a paper and pencil and write. Blocking out distractions is easier said than done. If you write with music, put on a playlist and get to work. Go to a cafe and write. Lock yourself in the basement. Maybe you aren't asking the right questions. Why are you writing a story? What is the plot? Who are the characters and are they doing certain things? Why do you like to write? Is this for someone? Is it for yourself? Does the story have a meaning? Is it just to write an enjoyable story? It doesn't matter what the answer is. If you want to be a writer, you need to write.
Problem: It's not perfect/too much pressure to do this right
Solution: This is a draft. You'll make mistakes and that is okay. When in doubt, just write it down and then come back to it later. Stop being a perfectionist. Nothing in life is perfect. Your story needs to be written down and only you can do it. Write it down and then you can change stuff later.
Problem: Story isn't interesting anymore/you want to quit
Solution: Remember why you started the story in the first place. Humans like new things. New ideas will always be more enticing than the current idea. Stick with your story. Slog through it. If you don't finish it, then it won't ever get done. You started writing for a reason. Your story can only be told by you. If it's not interesting, then ask why is not interesting? Is there not enough action? Are the characters boring? Is the plot not heavy enough? Is the plot too thin? Does the plot make sense? Check past scenes you've written and analyze why they are exciting. What does the reader learn in this scene? How do the characters grow and change? Spice it up. Add a twist. But most importantly: Don't quit. I don't care if you're bored or you think that this will never work. You won't know unless you try. Don't give up.
Best advice in general: Take a break. Go live life. Go walk your dog, exercise, do yoga, travel, talk with strangers, climb a tree. Rest for a few days and come back to your work. You can always have a friend read it and give suggestions. Forget that it's your writing and pretend someone else wrote it and read it. Read it pretending to be someone else. You are your own worst critic so lay off on the negative self-talk. Don't think. Don't worry. Just write. It'll all turn out fine.

Making progress with with a WIP and you finally get to the culmination of all the sexual tension, stolen glances and almost kisses, where the two finally embrace and go all the way...
...only for all desire to continue writing to vanish and writing the rest of the story seems like an arduous task.

The simpler me…
Tumblr media
Back when I first started writing (almost an entire decade now!), I started writing diary entries every day because I read online that it would be a great way to connect with readers. You know, give them constant access to your life, thoughts, and updates to your writing endeavors.
I managed to pull it off for a while, but then I slowly began to realize something: I wasn’t as interesting as all that, and I definitely wasn’t famous enough to warrant that sort of attention. Most people didn’t even read my entries, and I can’t blame them: even with my favorite authors, I rarely read things of that nature either.
So why was I writing diary entries then? Why was I taking so much time from my actual love (writing) just to throw out nonsensical data to readers who likely wouldn’t even be interested to begin with?
I stopped. Surprisingly, several readers reached out and asked why the frequency of my entries was tapering off, but it did free so much of my creative time (and energy!) that I couldn’t even think of going back to doing them daily.
Still, sometimes I go back and read some of my previous entries, and I can’t help but smile. So much energy! So many crazy times! Those were the days of a younger, more carefree me, the me before the pandemic, the me that didn’t give a fuck about much of anything except my readers and my big brother (and, of course, my Baby Squirrel).
The simpler me.
I miss her sometimes.
But only for a minute.
As much as I like her, I love myself now.
I’d rather be in love than in like any day…
