recently i've been decorating my guest room a bit more, now that you can auto battles, which in turn got me paying more attention to the kinds of style characters prefer. with some it feels pretty predictable (like lilia's unique + cute combo or azul's stylish elegance), while others are slightly harder for me to decode. since i feel like there's quite the intent behind those decisions (cater's preference for cute things as well as simple things or jade's preference being not only stylish but also simple, practical) and you're very insightful, i was wondering if you had any thoughts on the topic :)
Tumblr media
I think the characters’ theme preferences make sense overall! Some might just take a little more brain power to come to a reasonable conclusion. For example, Cater might like Cute things due to his mother and older sisters’ influence—but also due to the shallow Magicam obsessed persona he usually shows the world. His true nature might gravitate more to Basic things, as we see him with makeup products that have minimal packaging and pretty toned down colors in his Relax in Room SSR card. Jade likes Stylish things, as he makes efforts to present as well-groomed… to get people to trust him. He also likes Basic because he has a talent for finding practical uses for things—both people and items, as he can easily manipulate both to suit his needs. I’m not going to comment on every possible character, since there’s way too many to speak about individually. However, you can basically follow this logic for each of them:
Riddle — Stylish, Unique
Trey — Elegant, Cute
Cater — Cute, Basic
Ace — Unique, Stylish
Deuce — Basic, Elegant
Leona — Elegant, Unique
Ruggie — Cute, Basic
Jack — Basic, Stylish
Azul — Elegant, Stylish
Jade — Stylish, Basic
Floyd — Unique, Cute
Kalim — Cute, Unique
Jamil — Stylish, Elegant
Vil — Elegant, Stylish
Rook — Unique, Elegant
Epel — Basic, Cute
Idia — Unique, Elegant
Ortho— Unique, Cute
Malleus — Stylish, Basic
Lilia — Cute, Unique
Silver — Basic, Elegant
Sebek — Stylish, Unique
Grim — Cute, Basic
Rollo — Elegant, Stylish
Fellow — Unique, Cute
Crowley — Stylish, Basic
Crewel — Elegant, Stylish
Trein — Elegant, Basic
It’s really interesting how furniture theme preferences can easily translate into other aspects of characters’ individual tastes. For example, themes could indicate something about the character’s… well, character, or personal style, even style preferences for a potential partner or for dressing friends.
If we looked at shared theme preferences:
Basic + Cute/Cute + Basic: Cater, Ruggie, Epel, Grim
Basic + Elegant/Elegant + Basic: Deuce, Silver, Trein
Basic + Stylish/Stylish + Basic: Jack, Jade, Malleus, Crowley
Elegant + Cute: Trey
Unique + Cute/Cute + Unique: Floyd, Kalim, Ortho, Lilia, Fellow
Elegant + Unique/Unique + Elegant: Leona, Rook, Idia
Stylish + Elegant/Elegant + Stylish: Azul, Jamil, Vil, Rollo, Crewel
Stylish + Unique/Unique + Stylish: Riddle, Ace, Sebek
Deuce and Silver, both children of single parents, share the same themes. Funny, cuz Silver says he’d want Deuce as his brother in his Union Birthday vignettes.
Malleus and Crowley having the same themes will feed the “Crowley is Malleus’s long last dad” theory 😂
Trey is the only character so far with a theme preference unique to him.
NOT LEONA AND ROOK HAVING SIMILAR TASTES… I just picture Rook hovering in their shared homeroom and blabbing about interior design and Leona hating that he agrees with ROOK HUNT of all people 💀 (Idia probably hates sharing his tastes with these two, lol)
Vil and Crewel having the same themes makes sense. They have similar aesthetic sense, I think. They also worked together in the Fairy Gala events.
Interesting how Ace shares tastes with Riddle and Sebek, two people he is shown to frequently butt heads with.
If we break the groupings down into their top preference (because yes, order matters and the first/top theme is given priority):
Elegant: Trey, Leona, Azul, Vil, Rollo, Crewel, Trein
Unique: Ace, Ruggie, Floyd, Rook, Idia, Ortho, Fellow
Basic: Deuce, Jack, Epel, Silver
Stylish: Riddle, Jade, Jamil, Malleus, Sebek, Crowley
Cute: Cater, Kalim, Lilia, Grim
bcjsbsjenke Crewel and Trein both like Elegant but they also fight like a dog and cat… The irony.
Fitting how “the outcasts” like Unique. Ace the Heartslabyul rebel, Ruggie the extreme poverty representation and disliked hyena, Floyd the flippant, Rook THE local weirdo, Idia the shut-in, Ortho the robot, and Fellow the man with unfortunate life circumstances.
Basic likers 😭 I was not surprised to find Jack and Epel here… They’re pretty practical.
Class 2E boys (Riddle and Jade) like Stylish. Dnsbkwdbkdks Aw, Sebek also shares this with Malleus…
Light/Pop Music Club share a love for Cute!! That’s a nice touch www

Weird thought but in a yandere village in minecraft either illegers or villagers would they ise there own specific golems to keep you in the village this is if the golems werent invented by you but still had the yandere touch in them
Note: I'm gonna try my best to decode whatever this says like Paps’s Pizzeria games play on cool math. 🙏
Date asked: 4/20/2025
Warning: Impreg/birth kinks, Mindbreak & corruption, Multiple golems on one reader, Reader slowly losing humanity, annnnnd stretching
𝒀𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝑰𝒓𝒐𝒏 𝑮𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒎? 𝒙 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓
Tumblr media
You were supposed to be just passing through. You needed food, maybe a safe place to sleep. You didn’t expect the villagers to be so… welcoming.
Too welcoming.
They act like you’ve always lived there.
You try to leave.
They stop you.
No swords. No threats. Just wide smiles and words like, “You’re not ready yet,” or, “The Golem hasn’t claimed you.”
Then you see it: their Iron Golem. But it’s not like the normal ones.
This one is taller. Smarter. Watching you. Always. The villagers say they built it just for you. Not to protect the village—but to protect you for the village. You try to run one night. You make it to the gates. That’s when you feel the shadow fall over you. The Golem doesn’t speak. It just wraps an arm around you and lifts you like a ragdoll.
Back to your new “home.” The house with no exits. The bed with silk restraints. They tell you it’s an honor. That he chose you. That soon, the Golem will breed a new generation of defenders with you.
You cry. You fight. It doesn’t matter.
The villagers are smiling.
The Golem is heating up.
And the door locks behind you.
You were kidnapped. Straight up. Dragged into a pillager outpost, thrown into a cell. You expected death. Or torture.
Instead, you were cleaned up. Fed. Given silk clothes. And then they brought it in.
Their “Golem.” It’s not made of iron.
It’s made of dark obsidian, bone blocks, and corrupted redstone.
And it’s alive. A twisted mix of dark rituals and code-breaking. It has a voice—gravel and static—and a mind. One that only cares about you.
The pillagers say you were chosen. That you’re their “heart-bearer.” That only you can satisfy the Golem’s need to bond.
And oh, it bonds hard.
Every night, it comes to your cell. Fills you with corrupted seed that leaves your stomach bloated, your body tingling, your mind slipping. It doesn’t just want you—it wants to remake you. Fill you so deeply, so often, that your humanity warps.
IRON GOLEM:
Size Kink? More like destruction kink. His cock isn’t soft. It’s heated iron, thick as your thigh, textured with mechanical ridges. Every thrust stretches you past sanity—forcing you open with a wet, metallic squelch.
He doesn’t ask. He pins you down and uses your hole like it’s a machine port he needs to plug in and empty himself into.
Every time he finishes, it’s gallons of steaming, molten-like synthetic “seed.” It floods you. Soaks the sheets. Pools on the floor. You wake up with your belly distended, squelching with every step. He likes when it leaks down your thighs—grabs your hips, shoves it back in.
NETHERITE GOLEM:
Heat Play + Pain Kink. His body is blazing hot. His cock is like burning obsidian wrapped in glowing redstone veins—when he enters, it sears. You cry. He moans. He loves when you sob, scream, beg—thinks your pain means you’re “accepting the bond.”
Corrupted Breeding He fills you with Netherseed—black, sticky, thick like tar. It burns on the way in, but numbs everything by the third round. You can’t move. Can’t think. He forces it deeper until it boils inside your womb. And then it grows. A mass writhing under your skin. Something’s forming.
You’re kept in a lava-heated pit, chained by the ankles. Your only job? Get bred. Get bloated. Birth cursed golems.
REDSTONE GOLEM:
Vibration Overload…He vibrates. Constantly. His cock has auto-thrusting pistons, and every ridge is wired with live redstone current. He can edge you for hours, forcing orgasms until you’re limp, twitching, drooling into the sheets.
Cum Extraction Routine. He tracks how many times you cum. If you haven’t hit your “quota,” he clamps you in place, activates his harvest mode, and uses you like a fuckable circuit. You pass out. Doesn’t stop. Your hips get rammed raw.
Built-in tentacle arms, lube tubes, internal heating rods. He can open you in three places at once.
OBSIDIAN GOLEM:
Size? Monstrous. You don’t take him. He breaks you in. No prep. No mercy. Just a slow push into your hole until something gives. You cry. He praises. Then he pistons in so deep your belly bulges.
He treats you like a breeding hole. Likes to mark your skin with molten fingerprints, bruises, and bite-marks from jagged edges.
He injects you with black ooze that alters your body, makes your holes stretch easier, makes you need him, crave the stretch, the burn, the breeding.

Causality sucks
Human pops into existence
Human to random alien: "Time travel is bullshit. Here, give this to younger me."
Human pops out of existence
Alien: *shrugs* "Just another Human thing. At least this one wasn't covered in ooze."
Alien continues with their day, eventually bumping into the Younger Human.
A: "Oh hey! Older you said to give this to you. He said time travel is ox feces."
YH: "Bullshit. You need to update that auto-translator with context sensitive swears. Also, this is cursive, I can't read any of this."
A: *shrugs* "Future you didn't say anything else before disappearing."
H: *realization* "Wait... how old did I look?"
A: "Your upper body hair was in the late stage of 'male-pattern baldness'"
H: "Fuck. And it's set in stone now since I told you already.... FUCK! You mean I gotta spend like 30 years decoding my shitty handwriting? Time travel really is bullshit. Goddamn causality and continuity or whatever the fuck it is..."
A: *shrugs*

Fictober Day 1: "that was good work"
That '70s Show Fanfiction
Hyde drilled the final hole for the final screw in his Halloween monstrosity. October first, and everyone had Spooky Fever. Even Red. The metallic human skeleton they'd built was all broken car parts, sourced from Red's muffler shop.
"That was good work," Red said and patted Hyde's shoulder. He passed Hyde a clean rag from the shop's supply cart. "Now get that grease off."
The skeleton's lowest left rib was secured. Hyde wiped grease from it, and Red grunted. "What?" Hyde said.
"That was for your face. You look like you fell head-first into an oil spill."
Damn. Shaping the metal had meant using a blowtorch. He'd worn a welder's helmet, but he was sweaty. The skeleton's finer details required him and Red to manipulate the heavy Halloween decoration carefully. Hyde must've rubbed sweat off his forehead and cheeks with greasy hands.
"Just use the sink in the bathroom," Red said.
"Sure, but -- where are we gonna hide this thing 'til the party?"
"Here. I've got a drop cloth for it. We'll haul Ol' Bobby Bones to the backyard using your car."
Hyde quirked up an eyebrow. "Ol' Bobby Bones? You named it after Bob?"
Red tilted his head and seemed to think a moment. "Guess I did."
"Huh."
Hyde went to the shop's employees only bathroom and washed up. Red wanted to creep out people this year. Burn 'em with fear, but Red couldn't be left out of the fun. Hyde still owed him for that terrifying Prank Day years back. Alls Hyde had to do was record Bob talking for two hours, install an auto-reverse tape player into Ol' Bobby Bones, and Red would have his fair share of Halloween horror.
***
Hyde told Jackie of his plan later that night, in their bed. She brushed her fingers through his curls and said, "That was good work, puddin'. I love that my fiancé is both smart and sexy."
The Milwaukee skyline peeked through the drapes of their room. He liked the view from their apartment, but the view beside him was much more gratifying. Jackie couldn't do ugly even if she tried, despite when she thought she appeared her worst. Maybe he was biased, but he didn't give a crap.
"Oh, yeah?" He grinned and leaned his face closer to hers. "Let's find out if this work is even better."
He kissed her, sending a message she'd easily decode.
"Making love isn't supposed to be work, Steven," she said afterward.
"Work ain't work if you enjoy doing it."
In the dim light of their bedroom, her eyes shone with understanding. She kissed him back, tenderly at first then full of passion. If Spooky Fever had led to this kind of intimacy, he happily -- and finally -- accepted being infected by it.

Dear listener, recently I’ve been semi-regularly online gaming (Grim Dawn on Steam) and exchanging musical notes with Tumblr mindful-hempress. In a recent fun exchange, she sent me a video of a fairy girl licking amphibians and tripping balls in the forest. Fresh off her astute recommendation I asked her if she was ‘ready to dance??’ and introduced her for the first time to the music of Phantogram. Having never heard of them, she responded very positively to the music video for their song Fall in Love from their 2013 album Voices (smash play on the track above). Specifically, she praised the voice of lead singer Sarah Barthel and kept on sampling their tracks, I assume, well into the effervescent night. So, it worked on her. Now I ask you, Tumblr. ARE YOU READY TO DANCE!? If the answer is affirmatively YES, YES, YES!!!… scroll down for some more details, you degenerate sicko. If the answer is no, well, then kindly fuck off?? If the answer is middling, read on...
Tumblr media
This is a psychedelic pop duo I’ve highly enjoyed for about a decade, and they managed to hook me fairly quickly with their street-beat, synth-heavy tunes. Their music is equal parts batshit crazy and deeply emotional, and they generally manage to hit both extremes on every single one of their albums. A New York band consisting of two pre-school friends, this group found at least a tepid amount of initial success with extensive interest in singles related to their self-titled 2009 EP. A year later, they released their first full length album, Eyelid Movies, which, while not a slam-dunk music-market success, enabled them to set up their foundational roots and original sound. Starting in the mid-2010’s their music started to pop up on the radio, commercials and even video games. Recently, I was playing Grand Theft Auto V and one of their songs randomly started playing as I was cruising around Los Santos. I consider them to be one, if not my favorite electropop act, as they can produce sounds that are both emotionally gritty and hypnotic, all while keeping me interested in what they’re going to do next. Perhaps the best part of music by Phantogram is that no matter what, I always have a hell of a lot of FUN listening to them. Whether I’m trying to decode some of their lyrics, or listening passively in my car to one of their darker tunes, or just sitting at home listening to one of their full-length albums… I can’t get over how much FUN this duo is to listen to and watch. Just below, you’ll find You Don’t Get Me High Anymore from their 2016 album Three. Smash play and as always, enjoy!
youtube
Just wanted to point out that I bookended this post with a song about falling in, then out of love. I forgot to mention above that I really enjoy all the tricky wordplay in a lot of their jams. Even if all the lyrics don’t make 100% sense, they still can throw together one hell of a well-constructed poetical verse. I don't really like pop music, but I like Phantogram A LOT. Genuinely I love aypierres closed captions, But the only gripe I have is that most swears are censored out. I'm pretty sure this is an issue with all the caption extensions and not really part of aypeierres, But still, It sucks.
I don't just use it on cellbits streams, But i also use it when I'm watching fit and bad because I'm hard of hearing and having words on the screen makes it so I don't use as much energy decoding and can instead focus on enjoying streamers.
Censoring swears sucks because it feels alienating in a way. I hate that I've had to learn to live with it
honestly though IF its an issue with twitch and its extensions, or with the api and cannot be helped, I understand. It still sucks so goddamn much though
NO I SO GET IT 👆👆👆👆 it's soooo obnoxious. it is a problem with most auto caption systems i've seen, in pierre's extension, the old extension they used before, on youtube, etc. automatic captions on streams/videos *could* be so useful, except they've decided for some reason to intentionally make it shittier and shittier over the years
AND!!! in the context of the qsmp and other international creators, where it also translates too!!! it's *especially* shitty when the censored word totally breaks up the sentence, making it impossible to translate and straight up unreadable!!!!
at least the qlobal translator is fucking goated <3 as i was typing all this i could look over and see roier's transcriptions with "fucker" in it at least 4 times and him talking about wanting to kill himself <3

Today's mix:
99.2 by Timecode / Aquasky 1999 Drum n Bass
Man, I legitimately have no idea why some of these releases from UK dnb juggernaut label Moving Shadow's 'year-decimal' series are rated so poorly on Discogs. Usually when something has an average rating that's below 4 out of 5, it has noticeable flaws, but this sampler mix from MS head honcho Rob Playford—operating here under his DJ-mixing alias of Timecode—is an excellently steady clinic in fun, turn-of-the-millennium dnb bounciness. And the release that preceded this one, 99.1, which also has a sub-4 rating, is one of the greatest dnb mixes that I've ever heard in my life! So, like, what the hell is wrong with you people?!
And you couldn't beat this deal when this thing dropped, either. £1.99 for this disc, a bonus disc with an exclusive 20-plus minute mix of Omni Trio tunes done by the great trio of Aquasky, and CD-ROM freebies that included snippets of Aquasky remixes in WAV format, promotional videos for some Rockstar Games titles, and a playable demo of Grand Theft Auto 2 as well! They were practically giving this shit away for free!
So we've got a full, chugging, 65-minute workout here with a slate of bangers delivered by Moving Shadow's top talents: Dom & Roland, Calyx, E-Z Rollers, TeeBee, Aquasky, Omni Trio, Technical Itch, and more. But nothing here seems to hit as nicely as the moment when Playford transitions between E-Z Rollers' "RS2000" and 60 Minute Man's "Brand Nu Day." "Brand Nu Day" as a standalone track opens up with this terrific sax line, and to then hear it uniquely played alongside the fuzzy bass groove of "RS2000" just really unlocks something special 🥹.
So don't listen to all the haters and overlook this one. If you want a trip back to those lovely y2k days when music CDs also came with bonus CD-ROM content, this promo mix from Moving Shadow boss Rob Playford is terrific. And I dunno how long the GTA2 demo is on here, but I'm willing to bet that if you fired up the bonus CD in your PC, and then put the main one in your stereo, you were probably in for a good time, because the type of drum n bass that's on here really does feel like the perfect, adrenaline-fueled soundtrack for boosting some cars and wreaking havoc 😎.
Listen to CD1 here. Listen to CD2 here.
Highlights:
CD1:
Renegade - "Terrorist (Dom & Roland Remix)" Calyx - "Diablo" nCode - "Spasm" Kudos - "Boiling Point" E-Z Rollers - "Cops Don't Like Us" Tekniq - "Shark Food" Kudos - "In the Dark" E-Z Rollers - "RS 2000" 60 Minute Man - "Brand Nu Day" Calyx - "Fortune Cookie" Decoder & Substance - "Heat" TB & K - "Arctix" Aquasky - "Bodyshock (Aquasky Remix)" Omni Trio - "Byte Size Life (Shimon Remix)" Calyx - "Code Red" Dom & Roland - "Can't Punish Me" Technical Itch - "Generation" AK1200 & Danny Breaks - "Deep Porn (VIP Mix)"

Decoding the Magnus Protocol case file numbers
Okay, I kind of suck at pattern recognition, but I decided to take some notes about the case file numbers, and, now that the first two episodes are out for everyone, here are the few notes I took. Interesting? Yes. Useful? No clue.
Known DPHWs as of ep2:
Count Dracula: Vampire, popular culture: 7465 Frankenstein (the scientist): Resurrection, obsession/medical/pursuit/blasphemy: 5337
Full case numbers:
Quick guide to the codes beforehand:
the first 3 letters seem to always be CAT. I don't know what this means yet. I doubt it's a reference to my TMA OC called Cat, but hey, I guess that's my only lead right now.
Number-letter sequence of a variable character count, which is odd. Currently, numbers range from 1 to 3, and letters seen are limited to A, B, C, and R
DPHW code of 4 numbers, followed by a dash (-)
Date of the incident (DDMMYYYY), followed by a dash (-)
Date the case was processed (DDMMYYYY)
This new format allows you to establish a better timeline of events, as you have the date of Whatever You're Hearing around the case itself, as well as the date the emails/chatlogs/whatever were sent in!
[Case not read by the computer, and thus probably not real] CAT2RC1157-12052022-09012024 Dolls, Watching [Email]
CAT1RBC5257-12052022-09012024 Reanimation (Partial) -/- Regret [Email]
CAT23RAB2155-10042022-09012024 Transformation (eyes) -/- Trespass [chat log]
CAT3RBC1567-23092022-18012024 Transformation (full) -/- dysmorphic [video call]
Notes and theories
The series of letters/numbers after CAT is pppprobably the case file identification, but I'm not quite sure. This seems to come auto-filled, as Alice makes no comment on what to write there. I initially thought maybe it was a reference to the format, or maybe to the name of the people involved, but even two cases that happen to be emails don't have the same case code.
The DPHW code is 4 numbers. Maybe each letter in the acronym corresponds to one of the numbers?
None of the DPHW numbers go past 7 thus far (half of the 14 Fears? Something else entirely? Unknown.)
Even two different subtypes of Transformation have vastly different DPHW's (2115 and 1567). What?! Why? Gwen is right, logic is out of the window here.
All of these cases are from 2022, which is a fun fact, but I don't have anything to link that fun fact to.
Any theories and thoughts welcome. Please. I'm floundering, here. I'll probably keep updating this (or reblogging with updates???) as episodes are publicly released.

Ok so, for the various ciphers they go from Caesar cipher to Keyword ciphers, the websites I used for both are these
I double check that all of them are comprehensible after being decoded but sometimes it fucks up?? Auto correct has a tendency to try to “fix” what I put down much to my annoyance.
If these don’t help let me know!!! Regards 💖

Version 621
youtube
windows
zip
exe
macOS
app
linux
tar.zst
I had an ok week. I fixed some bugs, did some duplicates work, and cleaned up some build and environment issues, and there's some more user work for ratings.
full changelog
ratings
Thanks to a user, we have more rating options.
First, under options->thumbnails and options->media viewer, you can finally set the size of ratings!
Second, under services->manage services, you can now set many more 'star shapes: triangles pointing up/down/left/right; diamond; rhombus pointing right/left; pentagon; hexagon and small hexagon; six point star; eight point starburst; hourglass; large + and X shapes.
In an experiment, you can also set custom svg star shapes. I've thrown a couple of very basic examples into a new install_dir/static/star_shapes directory, but you can add more yourself. Try to add something that's squarish and has a clean simple sillhouette on top of a transparent background.
We're debuting some unusual new drawing tech here, and you may see some new misalignments or clipped borders at certain sizes. I'm going to keep working here to nail down good padding and margins, and we'll play around with svgs more to see about getting nice clean borders showing up. If it all works out, I expect we'll migrate all the existing hardcoded polygons to svg. We're also looking at unicode character icons too.
duplicates stuff
The duplicates filter now prefetches the next five pairs of images, for faster image rendering (it used to just do the next pair). You can now alter this number under options->speed and memory.
I fixed an issue where flat colour images of the same num_pixels but differing resolution were counting as pixel duplicates.
The duplicates auto-resolution system now lets you do 'system:known url' and 'system:number of urls' for 'test A or B', and 'system:number of urls' for 'test A against B using file info'.
build stuff
I went on a 'cleaning out old libraries' kick this week, prompted by a user report about the PSD-reading library we were using (psd-tools). The psd library was pulling in a drawing library, aggdraw, which, in Linux at least, was including a very old and vulnerable version of a bz2 decoder. I don't know if this decoder ever actually ran for what we were doing, but I didn't like having this complicated library with possible security problems when all we use it for is grabbing resolution, icc profile, and a preview image. I hacked together a file parser and some other solutions we had lying around, including an ffmpeg renderer, and now the program no longer needs psd-tools. Some PSD rendering may be a little worse, but I also improved some transparency handling, so some files are better.
Similarly, I removed the swfrender executables from the bin directory. These are a fun old tool to make flash thumbnails, but the project has been discontinued for a long time, and the exes are very old and we shouldn't be relying on them, especially for a crazy format like flash. New flash files you import will get the default 'flash' icon. For the future, the excellent Ruffle library is putting together a modern version of this render executable, so when that is ready, I'll investigate bringing this functionality back.
On the other side of things, the AVIF library test last week went well, so I'm folding that in today. We should have better AVIF rendering.
next week
I want to integrate the 'A is an exact match of B' tech into the manual duplicate filter so we can test it with real world data.

The Angel Maker: Final Part
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Female!Reader
Word Count: ~2.3k
Summary: You still feel guilty for what happened to you and Hotch even though you shouldn't. If you had seen that bomb before getting blasted back, then maybe you wouldn't have so many problems with your "abilities".
Warnings: canon violence, canon language, canon talk of death, methods of kill
Author’s Note: I do not own anything from Criminal Minds. All credit goes to their respective owners. If there are any warnings that exceed the normal death/kills from the show, I will list them. If you’ve seen the show, then it’s the same level of angst unless otherwise stated

Hotch and Emily headed over there while the rest of the team stayed back to work on the case. It turns out that the unsub wasn't the one who committed the crime, but Shara, the woman you and Rossi talked to. She figured if this killing spree could work for the unsub, then it could work for her.
It's already late, so you'll have to pick this up in the morning. The comment Emily made is stuck in your head for some reason. Why you're upset at this, you're not sure. You're sitting in the conference room and staring at Emily who is outside getting some coffee in the break room. You have a small pout on your face, and Spencer notices this when he enters the conference room.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing," you say and look away.
"Is it your head? Are you okay?"
"Spencer, I'm okay. I took my pain meds before we left the hotel, so I'm good."
The rest of the team filters into the conference room while JJ is on the phone with Pen. Penelope is working her magic in trying to find out who this unsub could be. According to her, four hundred and sixty-three children were born in the lower Canaan area between 2006 and 2008, so you'll have to narrow the list a bit more to get accurate results.
One of the letters Spencer decoded says, "I knew even before they told me that the future had taken root", which can only mean that it was the date of conception. The date of that letter was January 7th, 2007, so Pen had to look between August to September of the same year. With that, she came up with nine names, which is a lot more manageable.
After she sent over the names, your team got to work eliminating them. The Sheriff would know more about these names than you would, so you bring him in to try and help.
"Hannah Dreyfus was in an auto accident. She could barely walk. Shannon Conway moved away when the plant closed a year ago," the sheriff goes down the list.
"Any other names you recognize?"
"No, I'm sorry." The sheriff does a double-take and grabs the paper when he recognizes another name. "Well, this one here sounds familiar but I can't really place it. Chloe Kelcher."
"Chloe Kelcher. That is familiar," Spencer says and grabs the file for Cortland. "She was on the jury."
"That makes sense. She would have been exposed to the case evidence and seen firsthand what he did to his victims. That's when she fell in love with him, sitting across the courtroom every day."
"Well, it's one thing to have a relationship with a killer, and it's another to become one," the sheriff scoffs.
"There might have been an incident that prompted the transformation," Spencer says and looks into Chloe's file. "There's a death certificate here. Microvesicular steatosis. Her baby died at the hospital."
It looks like Chloe is your unsub, so your entire team heads over to her house, but like you assumed, she isn't home. The judge signed the warrant very quickly, so you're allowed to enter her house without getting into trouble. After a thorough search, everyone gathers in the kitchen.
"All right. We all know what the end game is. She's looking for her final victim. She may have already chosen one. Let's tear this place apart and look for anything that might tell us who she's targeted," Hotch says.
You, Hotch, and Derek head toward the bedroom and come across a child's nursery with glow-in-the-dark stars stuck to the ceiling.
"Daddy's watching," you say and point to the stars.
"It must have devastated her to think that she could hold on to Ryan by having his child and then lose the baby. Completing his murders became the only way she could hold on to him."
Something isn't right. The second you entered the house, something felt off about the atmosphere. You pause and look around the room until you see it.
Cortland Ryan is sitting on top of some kind of chest located underneath the window.
"What is it?" Derek asks after he sees the look on your face.
Without saying a word, you grasp the end of the chest. As soon as you open it, Cortland mists away. Lying there inside is Cortland's rotting body.
"That's not the only way she's holding onto him," you gag.
"I assume that's who I think it is," Spencer says when he walks into the bedroom. "I have an appointment book here. There are meetings with Delilah Grennan and Maxine Chandler on the day of each murder."
"Sheriff, have you found her tools or the gun?" Hotch asks.
"Nothing yet."
"She has something for this morning: Faye Landreaux."
"She's a CPA," the sheriff sighs. "She does my taxes. She works out of her home."
"Let's go."
Your entire team heads over to Faye's house. As soon as you get there, you can feel how scared she is and also another energy: the unsub.
"My team's ready. Let's get in there," the Sheriff says eagerly.
"Sheriff, we didn't recover a gun at Chloe's house. We have to assume she's armed."
"So are we."
"If you storm in now, she'll shoot, and she'll start with Faye. We need to be smart about this," you say.
"What do we do?" Derek asks.
"I think you should look for an open window," Hotch takes charge. "Sheriff, I need you to bring all your vehicles around to the front, facing forward with lights off, and I need a megaphone."
The sheriff does what he's told, and Derek creeps around the house to try and find an open window to get inside. Chances are, she's locked all the doors so no one can get inside so Derek's only shot it getting through a window without alerting her.
"Hotch, you won't be able to get through to her," you say.
"No, but maybe you can," he says and hands the megaphone to you.
"Sir, the profile is clear. We won't be able to talk her down."
"No, but we can occupy her. If we're right about the MO, she's left a window open somewhere. Morgan will find a way in. We just need to buy him some time. Hit the lights," Hotch says to the sheriff.
Seconds later, lights flood the front of the house, no doubt letting Chloe know that you're here. You take a deep breath and clear your head.
"Chloe, this is the FBI. We know you're in there, and we know what you're trying to do. I know you think that finishing what Cortland started will bring you closer to him, but first, you should know who he really was. I know you thought you were special, but the truth is, he wrote the same things he wrote to you to other women. I've seen the letters." Hotch hands you copies of the letters for you to read to her. "Dozens read the same lines: 'Without the flesh, there is only the soul. You don't need to touch me to feel the love I have for you.' Does that sound familiar? Cortland wasn't who you thought he was. He was a narcissist, Chloe. He wasn't capable of loving anyone but himself.
"To Carla Kettinger, he wrote, 'Ever since your visit, I am crazed with thoughts of you. Already, you have entered my dreams. Each time you appear to me, I am embraced by a feeling of trust and belief as if I've known you all my life. It's clear to me now that you are my fate. We are destined to be together, and when I am gone, that will not change. I will live on in you. In death, our union will be eternal. All appeals are lost. Possessions matter little to a condemned man, but I cannot leave this world without seeing your face one last time.'
"It isn't your fault that he made you feel these things, Chloe. It isn't your fault your baby died."
That gives Derek enough time to get Faye out of the house because as soon as you're done speaking, you see Derek usher Faye to safety. Second later, you hear Chloe yell out in anger.
"It's over, Chloe. We have Faye. You have nowhere to go," you say into the megaphone.
Still, she doesn't respond.
"I think we got some tear gas. I'm assuming it's still good," the sheriff says.
"We're not gonna need it. She doesn't have any place to go."
"Well, maybe she'll do us all a favor and put herself down."
"She's not gonna do that, either. She's not done."
Just then, Chloe comes out of the house with the gun in her hand. All officers and agents draw their guns and point them at her, and she stops at the bottom step of the porch.
"Chloe, drop the gun!" Hotch orders, and repeats himself when she doesn't listen.
"I'm coming to you, baby," she grins at the sky.
She raises her gun to shoot knowing that everyone will shoot to stop her. She goes down in two shots, and you back away in pain from the gunshot. Rossi and Emily rush over to her, but she is already dead. Emily notices blood seeing from her jacket, and she lifts it to see the markings of the final constellation.
If we took her victim from her, then she became the last one.
With the case solved, your team gets ready to head to the airport. Hotch is in the police station finishing up, so everyone is waiting by the car for him.
"Hey, are you okay?" Spencer asks.
"Yeah, just tired," you sigh.
"Did anyone get directions back to the airstrip?" JJ asks when Hotch comes out with his bag in hand.
"This town's only got one road. We'll find it," Derek shrugs.
"Yeah, Morgan doesn't like to follow directions. You didn't know about that?" Emily laughs.
"Yeah, he likes to vibe it," Spencer smirks.
"Okay, smart ass. You drive," Derek says and tosses Spencer the keys.
He unlocks the car, and you're the first one in. The car has a row of seats behind the back seat, so that's the one you take. Spencer sees how much pain you're in, and he looks down at the keys in his hands. He likes driving every once in a while, but you clearly need him.
"Not this time," he says and hands the keys to Emily who takes them with a smile.
He sets his bag in the back before climbing in next to you. After putting both your seatbelts on, you shift and rest your head on his chest. He wraps an arm around you and kisses the top of your head.
You're always able to fall asleep a lot better when it's in his arms.
"The past is our definition. We may strive, with good reason, to escape it, or to escape what is bad in it, but we will escape it only by adding something better to it." - Wendell Berry
