I was very silly expecting an easy all-is- well and solved now last episode but whoa

what a ride

I know I'm late to the train, and in all honesty it took me a while to decide to watch it because I thought it was gonna be super heavy, but no, whoa, what a show full of plot twists! And the truth being revealed bit by bit as the characters learn about what happened in the past, so you're always on the edge of your seat to know what happens next and try to understand what really happened back then.

and the unexpected deep romance/chemistry between the leads blended with police investigation and deceit!!

She sat at the edge of her bed, elbows on her knees, the sleeves of her oversized hoodie pooling at her wrists. Her room looked like something torn out of an interior design magazine: cream walls with framed calligraphy prints, minimalist bookshelves lined with first editions, a mirrored vanity that caught the light like diamonds. But there were no personal photos, no posters, nothing handmade or careless. Not even clutter. It looked like a life no one actually lived in.

The green tea on her nightstand had gone cold. She took a sip anyway. Bitter, burnt. Just the way she liked it.

Her alarm had gone off twenty minutes ago, but she didn’t need it. She was always up before the house stirred—before the mask needed to slip into place.

A soft knock at the door broke her rhythm. Not from concern. From control.

“You’re going to be late,” her mother’s voice came through the door, cold and clipped.

A housekeeper stood quietly near the edge, waiting to refill anything that needed refilling, though nothing ever did.

Y/n took her usual seat near the middle. Her stepbrothers—Jun-woo and Min-jae—were already in their business attire, quietly skimming through news articles on their tablets. Her mother sat perfectly poised, flipping through stock updates.

Then there was her father. Chairman Yoon.

He arrived late, as always. A presence that entered the room like a press conference—controlled, calculated, colder than the marble floor beneath his shoes.

“Good morning,” he said to no one in particular.

“Good morning, Father,” Y/n said, more out of habit than sincerity.

He sat at the head of the table. Coffee arrived, black and bitter. No one asked about sleep. No one asked about school. No one asked anything—until halfway through a silence so heavy it felt almost ceremonial.

Her father looked up.

“I’ve been hearing the name Na Baek-jin.”

A pause. Knives scraped against plates. The tension in the room doubled.

Y/n didn’t flinch. “He’s in my class.”

“I know that,” he said calmly. “What kind of boy is he?”

She looked up from her toast. “Smart. Quiet. Interesting.”

They were both top of the class. Both from powerful backgrounds. Both untouchable in their own ways. But where she wore sarcasm like armor, Baek-jin wore silence like a blade.

Still—she knew he watched her.

Not in a possessive way.

Not even with affection.

It was more... careful. As if he was waiting for her to let something slip.

But she never did.

After class, she lingered a bit. He stayed behind, as usual, correcting a mock test paper. She pretended to look for something in her bag.

“You know,” she said, “if you keep trying to match me, you’ll burn out.”

He didn’t look up. “And if you keep assuming you’re ahead, you’ll slip.”

She raised an eyebrow, impressed.

“Wow. A full sentence. Did it hurt?”

This time, he looked at her. Really looked.

And for the briefest moment, something cracked. Not his expression—but something behind his eyes. Something... almost soft.

Then it was gone.

“Good night, Y/n.”

She blinked, thrown off. “You—used my name.”

No response. Just the soft click of his pen as he packed his things.

At home that night, the silence was familiar. Her mother had gone to a gallery opening. Her father was still at work. Her brothers were God knows where.

She ate dinner alone, seated at the same massive table, one elbow on the edge, scrolling through her phone. There was a message from an old friend in Gangnam, an invite to some yacht party she didn’t want to attend.

Another message followed.

From a number she hadn’t saved, but she didn’t need to.

Bloody brilliant performances. Twists twisted. Genre genred.

Yoo yeon seok really likes hospitals in his scripts. And this might be one of his top 5 performances. Him looking all fluffy in that curly hair and committing those heinous acts. Godawful character but so brilliantly portrayed.

Lee Seung Min again gives a brilliant performance. From the happy optimistic man to the revenge seeking angry man to the happy loving grandfather. God I cried in that last scene.

Lee jung eun is given half the work to do here but does she power through. If only the cops had heard her character from the start. So many people would have been spared from the pain.

Bone chilling all in all. Not something I'll come back to. But a brilliant watch for sure. Many might have missed this because who even watches kdramas in Paramount. Horrible subs situation also in accessible places.

But do give it a try if it's your genre.

Mini-review:

I'm gonna be very honest: I hate football/soccer and, initially, I only wanted to watch this because I adore IU. So, color me surprised, cause I enjoyed it a lot. I should have seen it coming tbh, cause I've always liked this type of inspirational-underdog storylines. Anyway, the characters were engaging, the script was really funny and witty, and the whole cast was great. IU does steal the show, proving that she has a natural knack for fast-paced comedy and one-liners (I swear I'm not being biased here). But all the other actors do an amazing job too! My only real complain is that the movie felt a tad too long, and the final act dragged a bit. But, besides that, I had a lot of fun watching it and I would definitely recommend it!

Today's Webtoon

For someone that likes to read webtoons, this series was so nice to watch. It gives us a window to how webtoon creation and publication works. I like the characters: artists and the PDs. Their stories ranged from sweet to sad, but it was great to see the all reached their own happiness. Even though this series is not a romantic drama, it did have its romantic touches that made it sweeter. It leaves this subplot in the opening as they accomplish their dream as a team and move on to the next collective dream. I wonder what will happen with Oh Ma Eum's relationship with Seok Ji Hyung and Jun Yeong. But even though it leaves that question open, it doesn't leave me disappointed or wanting to know what happens. I think that it just reminds us that life continues even after one chapter of our lives ends and things will happen at their own sweet time, there is no need to force things.

Work drama that will keep you smiling and cheering for the characters. Really loved it.

And this!!!! Noona has just saved Eun Ha’s life, as a repayment for the way Hyun Soo protected her years ago. (Poor kid, she is going to need so much therapy omg.)
