I actually just remembered one of, if not the, creepiest thing that has EVER happened to me.
So when I was a kid, I owned a Nook, which was basically an IPad specifically for reading, and I was obsessed with the thing. Though I remember one day sitting at home, in bed, reading, when all of a sudden an unfamiliar face covered the entire screen of the nook for about a second before disappearing, AND I SCREAMED. Like, white girl in the horror movie who just saw the killer scream. My mom comes in to find me hiding under the covers, Nook on the other side of the bed, and asks me what happened. I explained and she was... well, a little skeptic, after all, I was young, and kids tend to make things up. Granted she was also a little concerned because from her standpoint, I was acting like I had just seen the face of Satan himself (for context the face was NOT Satan, it was some random girl who was smiling.) We decide to go ask the staff at Barnes and Noble to see if anything like this had ever happened before. They said no and were...well, actually concerned just from the look on the guy's face. I mean if some 10-or-so year old kid and her mom walk into your store and ask you if anyone else has ever reported seeing an unfamiliar face flash on their Nook before, YOU'D BE A LITTLE SCARED TOO.
This never happened again, it was a 1-time thing, and I still live in fear of whoever that was.
I don't mean to be that person but if anyone and I mean ANYONE has any idea what might've caused this, please tell me.

Downright awful when a library has an open floor plan and short shelves. How am I supposed to be comfortable looking at books when both the librarians and the teen study group can see me browsing the graphic novel collection

I'm a big fan of learning about Usagi through you you clearly like him a lot.
But can I ask where you're reading his comics?
What books I couldn’t find at my local library, I bought! (Digitally. It was cheaper that way.) But if neither of those options are viable for you (and also if you’re interested in reading Usagi Yojimbo from the very beginning—which I highly recommend) the entire Fantagraphics run is available to read digitally through Amazon.
I personally despise giving Amazon money—which is why I used the free trial for their “Comixology Unlimited” service to read it. Make sure to cancel it before the month is over, though.
As for the less legal ways… I’ve recently been informed that there is a site that pirates UY, but I don’t feel comfortable sharing it publicly. DM me off anon, and I can send you some links. But I do hope, if you go this route and end up liking the comic, that you might consider legally buying a copy some day of your favorite storyline.
Thank you for the ask, and happy reading!

My Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7 inch Nook - Book Covers Missing
My Samsung Galaxy Tab A Nook
I’ve been reading ebooks using a Barnes & Noble Nook since they introduced their first Nook ebook reader. This is my current Nook device. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7 inch Nook. I don’t know what happened, but suddenly the book covers went missing. I searched Google for the help and it brought me to the Barnes & Noble help page that said to reboot. Well, obviously that was…

In the realm of alternate histories, there lies a world where two realities collide. A hero, a noble soul, must choose between love and duty. In the heart of a parallel universe, a kingdom in peril cries for help. The hero, with a heavy heart, sacrifices true love to save many lives. And so, the legend of a love that transcends time is born, an eternal beacon of hope, forever etched in the annals of history. This is the summary of your work so far: A Future Fantasy poem based on a character making a sacrifice for the greater good and alternate history and parallel universes has been created in under 100 words.

In a world where superheroes clashed with dark forces, one valiant hero made the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good. The skies roared with thunderous battles, but through it all, our hero's unwavering spirit soared high. They fought against the shadows that threatened to consume us all, their courage a beacon in the night. But in the end, they chose to surrender their power, ensuring peace for generations to come. And as we basked in the light of a new dawn, we knew our hero's legacy would forever live on.

New Year's Resolution: Stop Using Amazon for Books
Photo by Aliis Sinisalu on Unsplash
I think everyone knows by now that Amazon is pretty much evil. But in this economy, it kind of feels like it’s a necessary evil as often they do offer the best deals in some things. For me, that is their Kindle book sales. Pretty much every day I head over to Amazon to see what Kindle books are on sale that day and if it’s something on my TBR list I’ll buy…
