Take A Chance

Fandom: Gotham

Pairing: Basil Karlo (Clayface) x Chubby!Reader

Request: do you think you could write something like Clayface x a chubby female artist?        

Note: So I was totally listening to ‘Take a Chance on Me’ by ABBA when writing this so ya, that’s inspiring this

Basil had never seen someone like you before, nor had he seen such beautiful paintings.  He hadn’t actually meant to stumble into your gallery on that Tuesday but he was trying to get away from Penguin’s people and had turned into someone quickly and headed into the gallery with a small group. 

You were just starting a show so he stayed to make sure the coast was clear and while he was waiting he listened to you speak, talking about the pieces you had done and what had inspired each and he was done for.  You were smart and funny and beautiful and the way you spoke made him hang on every word.  Soon the group dispersed to view the paintings they enjoyed and he approached you.

“Hello,” he said.  You looked over and smiled at him.  “So, you have a number I can call you at?” he asked.  You frowned a little and he realized he was still looking like a 60 year old woman.  Embarrassed he fled the gallery only to change face and clothes and come back as a young man, hoping this was better for you.  Instead of approaching directly this time he tried to be subtle, looking at the paintings and then at you, then at the paintings again.  You noticed after a few minutes and approached.

“You see any paintings you like?” you asked, smiling sweetly at him.  He smiled back, turning to focus entirely on you.

“The paintings are all beautiful, and so is the artist,” he said.  You blushed some, immediately crossing your arms around yourself.  He frowned some, wondering why you would hide your body like this.  He could see that you were larger than other people, with a body that was soft and squeezable and probably didn’t have bony elbows or knees.  And he adored it, he wanted that body to be against his.  “Did I offend you?”

“No, no,” you said quickly, shaking your head and dropping your arms a little.  “Its just not many people come in and compliment me over the paintings, it was unexpected.”  You smiled at him and he melted a little bit, this smile was genuine, not one you put on for the crowd. 

“Well, I mean it, I was wondering, maybe I can get your number and call you?” he asked.  You bit your lip, pulling a card from the nearby podium and handed it to him.  “Thank you, I will call you soon.”  You looked apprehensive about giving him the card, like you knew he wasn’t who he presented himself to be.  Basil looked worried for a moment, then thought on his feet.  “Hey, don’t worry, just give me a chance.” 

“I will, I just know there is something you’re hiding, but considering we just met I will wait to find out what that is,” you said.  He nodded.

“I do have my secrets, but one day I’ll tell you some,” he said.  “But for now...” he leaned in, changing just his lips to his own, kissing you softly for just a moment before pulling away and putting them back to match the face he was wearing.  You were blushing deeply, but still smiling.  “I will call you.” 

You watched him leave, wondering what secrets he had, hoping to find them out soon, wondering why the kiss didn’t match the face.
