There is something so adorable about that happening so late in the series. Because it's true... Merlin's previous battlewounds have been burns, poison, etc. But never blood. And most of these things Arthur doesn't even know about.

And Arthur's mind instinctually goes: I've been watching you, always. This is your first wound and maybe you're freaking out about it, so don't worry it's cool actually. I don't care that I've had worse wounds. We're not moving until we took care of it! I won't move until I took care of you.

A list of atrocious things Gustav would buy for himself, Siri, and their kids;

Crocs. All the crocs. Preferably with weird designs cuz he thinks theyre cool. Sunni has psychedelic ones and she doesnt know what to do with them. Siri's are with flowers, Niv's are dinosaurs and Hellie's have a fire theme. The Guster himself has the most neon purple ones he could find and he only ever wears them in race mode. Siri does wear them sometimes but only in the house or in the garden

Also, bucket hats. Siri keeps telling him to put on sunscreen but he's too lazy for that, so he just goes for the next best option and just has a bucket hat on all day every day. Sunniva sometimes makes or buys pins for him to put on it and he brags about it to Snotlout

The dude's got like. Ten silly t-shirts. One for every day of the week and than some more. They either have very anti-authority texts (which is so valid) or just. Plain stupid. He's seen some tiktoks from the youth tm that tucking your shirt in your pants makes you look cool so that's what he does always. Niv absolutely hates everything about this.

He's got shorts that end above the knees so everyone can see his battlewounds (scratches he got from tripping over Fanghook, his own feet, and falling while skating) and it utterly proud whenever someone mentions them. He tells different stories of how he got them every time someone asks

The most normal thing are sunglasses, surprisingly. At least the kid isn't gonna let his eyes go to shit? He did buy them from a very cheap shady store so who knows how long before they break

Surprisingly, Siri is totally fine with it (she shouldn't be ngl, but for some reason she is). She just doesn't see any harm in him dressing up the way he wants.

Niv, Sunni and Helene hate some parts of it with a burning passion tho. They liked it as kids (Sunni a bit more than Niv and Hellie cuz their dad dressing up in the craziest things meant she could dress to all her needs too) but when they got older and Gustav became the "how do you do fellow kids" parent they just felt. Embarrassed lmao.

Not completely unrelated but during summer family-reunion-esque bbqs (Siri's dad has doubts about inviting his kid's weird husband every year again bc of the fashion sense and personality) Gustav would buy a "kiss the cook"-like apron and force who-ever is cooking to wear is (snickering in the background cuz damn that looks so funny)

People would ask Siri to like. Control her hubby and she just goes "why would I"

She's so into his silly that she just doesn't want it to chance. At some point Sunniva does join in on the silly again and Siri supports that just as much cuz she knows Sunni enjoys that stuff. Helene keeps hating it for the rest of her life tho. She doesn't think it's cool tm :')

"You didn't need to whoop his ass that hard, Cassie." Claire's voice was muffled even as she wrapped her arms around her sister. Her sister, naturally had found out about that random creepy stalker of Claire's, and judging by the bruises on her sister's knuckles had dished out her justice. Or she had beat the crap out of another person, it really didn't matter. At least she was finally home!

"We could have easily just turned him into a toad." She pouts but clings all the same. Cassie was the warmest of the three, both literally and figuratively, always burning with more fire than the rest of them. That also meant she was the best at giving cuddles.

All arms and legs as they snuggled up in their brand new sofa, Claire doesn't let up, engulfed in her sister's arms. "Want me to heal that for you?" She pokes the blooming bruise on her sister's shoulder.

Cassandra had been a ball of fury that night. No one dared to mess with her sisters without having to deal with that might anger that festered in her heart. So, when she heard of a stalker bothering her sweet Claire, the fool had no time to prepare for the flurry of fists that were headed his way. Cassandra’s only kindness she gave to him was that she did not kill him. 

So when she got home, she knew Claire would immediately know what happened. The trio understood each other to a deeper level than most due to their intertwined souls. So as she held her sister in her arms, Claire heard a symphony of scoffs and huffs. “I only care to teach a lesson once. Who knows, he could have liked being a toad. He was a weirdo, Claire.” She nuzzles her face into her hair as she complains. “I think I did a good job, thank you.”

She winces at her sister’s poke. A frown blooms on her lips. “Yeah. I guess. We have a concert tomorrow, so I guess I shouldn’t go all bruised.” She muses, loosening up on her grip slightly.

it’s really cool to see people engaging with my piece on narcissism/PDs and why it’s important to reflect on how we use these labels. i’m glad it resonates with people. i think the reason it bothers me so much is because these medical model labels (narcissistic personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, etc) are so, so widely misused? and i see, and hear, people who consider themselves “woke” and full of empathy using them to deliberately put down another person. you can’t claim to be a mental health activist in one breath then attempt to denigrate someone for potentially having atypical (aka, not “neurotypical” or “normal”) neurological experiences. i just cannot take the hypocrisy of it, and neither should you, reading this.

labels can be limiting. and people who use them against you to perpetuate conservative ideologies of health and what is “normal” don’t have the intellectual depth to understand what they’re doing. or, maybe they do, but it’s unlikely they’ll bother to better themselves. but also, labels can be incredible! they help you realise that isn’t you, you aren’t defective or ‘wrong’. that thought, or that behaviour, belongs to your condition/label/disorder/etc. that’s not to say we can excuse ourselves for literally anything and blame it on the label, but it does allow you the chance to forgive yourself, and to try and understand yourself a little more. sometimes, being atypical is like trying to put together a jigsaw puzzle but you’ve never seen the complete picture of what you’re creating. it’s weird as hell. i like to focus on the things i can do and the achievements i have made, to remind myself that i am multidimensional. we all have the ability to do that, and that’s pretty goddamn amazing.
