excuse the cropped weirdly pictures; my family/pet's foster parents are great at snapping a sneaky picture of me curled into an unattractively slouched (relaxed) fetal state. which i'm self-conscious about because it's an unattractive position for pictures even tho i am quite pretty (but they are also cropped because im just also private as hell, sorry lmao).

bonus tho: said pet is laying ontop of me, face buried in my shoulder, twitching in her sleep as we speak!

so yeah. i saw your post! i'm here to address your call for dogs. but i dont have anymore pictures of my dog, Cash. however, i do have stuff about my cat, Allegra.

i dont have any of them together cuz Cash lives at my family's house and Allegra lives in my apartment. and we're p sure he'd try to eat her and she'd scratch the hell out of him, so we don't try to let them meet. but, just like how Cash continued the legacy of us adopting another big slobbery dog with possessive seperation-anxiety, Allegra does fit all the criteria of those same personality traits we are such a beacon for. so i hope youll accept it as comfort nonetheless

here's a story about my cat who acts just like a anxious, cuddly, and slobbery pupper. i even bought her a pet ID tag that's shaped like a bone to honor that joke lmao) Allegra: "the honorary and tiniest mastiff" and named after the allergy medication

i got Allegra just this last year. she was a stray. now, for context: there are lots of outdoor cats in my neighborhood and they all hate strangers (they aren't feral tho, they have collars). but they all avoided my old house though because of Cash. so Allegra, newly abandoned, took advantage of that safety(?) by constantly hiding out around my family's house whenever she felt endangered

before that point tho, where i vaguely realized she existed but had no idea of what her strategy had been: i knew the cats of the neighborhood would run 15 miles away at the sound of people. but i am a small bean of cliches, so i always say "Hi kitty" anyway. even if them running away breaks my heart. and on that day, i was on my way to work for the opening shift, not early per se but i had enough time for starbucks if i wanted (and i did want) and i saw the vague mass of a cat on the lawn. predictably, i went "Hey kitty". but i also kept walking to my car due to said expectation of cats running and not wanting my heart to have that little break

and allegra did run. she just ran at me, full speed. i almost kicked this sudden HURLING THING in my peripherals like a football out of fight/flight + anxiety, except i have the aim of Charlie Brown so i thankfully missed her terribly. she was purring up a storm and crying pathetically. tho she's a Siamese, so they talk (read: complain) a lot anyway so maybe she wasn't crying. i always call her talking "crying" anyway tho cuz of the whiny pitch of it so such is a moot point. the real point was: she was ridiculously friendly

then, one morning, she was especially incorrigible. she wouldn't let me go into the car without her jumping inside too and kept scenting me, my car door, and all my equipment for this art class i was going to use for my presentation. a presentation that was a huge chunk of my grade that i couldn't be late for and Allegra was going to make late for. i had to trick her into thinking i was going to run away from my car, to which she zoomed ahead to cut me off, except i had actually done a fake-out and had really ran into the driver's seat and was already starting to slowly reverse out of the driveway. she had the sense to not go after a moving vehicle, thank god. my family texted me she cried outside our front door for hours later though. my art class that semester met once a week, so it was a 4.5 hour class that started at 7AM. and even tho that day had been a presentation day and we had less than 15 students, we still went over 3 hours. she cried during all of it. i used the "free time" to make sure i bought a cat leash and a cardboard cat carrier. but when i came back, heard no crying

i tried to get one of my neighbors to hold onto her for the afternoon. i couldnt leave her in my old house; i had family members i lived with who were terribly allergic. but i swore, so long as someone held onto her for my shift, i could take her to a shelter after. she was just so friendly and obviously new here, i just needed someone to put her somewhere safe (we lived by the freeway, by a train, by the main alternative to the freeway, and by two dog parks). but nobody really could hold onto her, so i had to hope she'd show up again when i came back from work. she didn't. i left her food out anyway.

i took her to the Humane Society Shelter closest to us because they have a microchip scanner. and she did have a chip! that was completely empty! apparently, that's a thing!! the guy there asked if i was going to keep her then, and i hadn't really thought that far. i had made the mistake of naming her and thinking she was cute, and she had done the legwork of being a cuddly motherfucker who purred constantly whenever i was around

she'd only ever appear in the early morning, when i was on my way to my shift or a midterm. about a week or two passed like this with me having no idea where she was for the rest of the day. turns out, according to said allergic family members, Allegra actually never left the house. she would hide on our roof or on our back porch's clutter or in our droopy lawn plants (like our sweetgrass) to hide from the outdoor cats or other dangers (she's a smart cat who hates the sound of cars and would hide whenever any one was particularly loud)

i'm pretty sure she's plenty well-cared for tho. in fact, i'm almost positive she's a very spoiled cat. for example, i have backups of everything x2. i have one of everything in my living area and a copy in my bedroom, should i need to close her in there when allergic family members are over (i also carry all the big allergy medication brands as a back-up in case i get a visitor who forgot to take their medication, which includes me being stocked with allegra the medication lmao) and then i also have a back-up of all her stuff in my closet should anything break. i always make sure all my windows are open when i leave for class/shifts so she can have "Cat TV" since birds do fly around the area. she has a ton of toys (she has a toy box actually) and i bought her multiple hideaways (like her shark pictured here; she also has a cactus that's pretty cute). also, ontop of having a good breakway collar, her microchip now reads my information. but yeah, im still working on the money to get her one more of everything for the house we visit for the holidays so i don't have to carry everything. i do a lot of research still-- on both cats and Siamese-- to make sure i am doing everything to make her happy, since her world is just me and our apartment now

i called out for her-- i had long since started calling her Allegra as a joke, because its a name of a popular allergy medication and so much of my family was allergic-- and shrugged sadly when she didn't come out. i had just put my stuff down to get my key out when i heard a familar crybaby. turns out, she had been sleeping in our sweetgrass and i had woken her up. she ran over and i called my family to take my things inside while i used the rest of my day to get her to a shelter. i put on a cat harness+leash before trying to out her in the cardboard box. don't buy cardboard boxes from Pet Co. they're shit. she broke out of it Alien style before i had even fully reversed out of the driveway. i had to improvise her leash into a seatbelt instead

but yeah. i say my favorite gremlin is dog-like because:

she has an overbite, so she looks like she's got her lip jutted out in a pout all the time. what's dog-like about it is this makes her slobber whenever she's excited or content (and i've grown up with mastiffs, who slobber so much you need 2 rags per room dedicated to their slobber)

hesitatingly, i called my only family member that was semi-local to see if he would be okay with fostering her until i was going to move (which was less than 6 months away) because, otherwise, i wasn't going to be able to keep her. and she was definitely going to be adopted immediately. he and his wife said of course, without hesitation. they were both huge cat lovers and they were, emotionally, my closest family members; so i had kept them in the loop about my cat quest. and they had already discussed potentially fostering Allegra, knowing my request was a possibility (read: probability). he drove over from his workplace to pick her up, with his own carrier, and drove the roughly 2 hours from our house back to his

she meows when people are at the door and greets them by begging for pets

she loves shoes. she steals my tennis shoes because she loves the laces and she will try to swat at them when im tying them. her claw getting stuck and forcing me to not continue has worked to make me late multiple times. but she also will lay down around my friends' feet and rub her face against their shoes, flipflops, and toes. one of my friends likes to joke that allegra has a foot fetish. she also can and will put her face into my tennis shoes and try to sleep like that. that's my bastard baby

i visited their house about once a week. except during finals, where i didn't visit for two or three weeks since i didnt have any exams so much as i had projects. (allegra was PISSED at me when i came back, my cuddly kitty refused to come near me and would run away when forcibly placed on my lap. she even swiped at me. by the next visit, she was grumpy but happier. by the one after that, everything was back to normal) i really liked visiting those family members too; it made us even closer. though it still annoys the male how much research i do about cat-care (as opposed to just accepting everything everyone tells me as gospel). i researched even down to "how to best pet a cat". i did this since, due to said allergic family members, i had never owned a cat and therefore didnt osmosisly process how to best care for one. i've also never been fully fauthful of people's advice that's based on "This is how we've/the media always done it". my history with mastiffs showed that not all breeds are the same and that you do have experts to utilize within your phone, and they are experts over peers for a reason. so i looked up dumbass questions like "how to best pet a cat" since i'm not an expert and Jackson Galaxy and friends are right there in my phone

she wants to play constantly. she loves tug of war the most, but anything involving chase has her going at full-speed

ive spoken to fellow cat-owners and mastiff-owners about this, and i thought this was interesting: when she isn't playing, she's sleeping. which is what mastiffs and cats do. and when i get up, she follows me. which is what our mastiffs do. and while i do stuff, she sits and waits by the doorway or else walks around my feet until i tell her to sit out of the way. which is what our mastiffs do. and then i go to sit down again, and she lays down as close as she can and goes back to sleep, which is what our mastiffs do. apparently, none of my friends cats do this; their cats just, at best, wake up to watch them leave and then their cats go back to sleep in the same place regardless of if they come back

Allegra likes to sleep at the foot of my bed for bedtime, at least for a majority of it

but, regardless if my worries, allegra seems happy! she cuddles with her claws out all the time (not sticking into my skin, just out) which is a sign of contentment. she'll also use her claws to keep me in place, like a fucking seatbelt (example pictured in post); it's where her claws will dig into the furniture and i cannot get up because of her, the possessive piece of shit. but she also gives me tons of Slow Blinks of I Love You. and she always runs to greet me at the door. and it's really funny how, anytime there's guests over, she tries to make it obvious that she's my favorite over (usually through politely tapping my leg with her paw to ask and recieve pets, and then giving everyone a very Cat Surrounded By Knives grin cuz i havent petted any of THEEEMMM lmao) she's hilarious

she doesn't like to be carried unless it means she's going with me somewhere outside the house. then she's as well-behaved as a chihuahua in a purse

she licks my hands all the time. and she licks my face to wake me up (at 4AM, Allegra, go aWAY)

she loves smelly clothes. the shoe part should tell you that much tho. for our mastiffs, we would leave them a smelly piece of clothing between washes to comfort via smell. Allegra, in a similar vein, was not impressed when i bought a laundry basket with a lid (almost carrying her to the communal laundry room once was enough, thank you!)

in the same vein as the clothes: she also loves blankets too. the more Me Smelling the blanket, the better (aka she doesn't like brand new blankets until its been like. month two or three of use). this is largely because i love blankets. but she kneads them, purring, even if im not using them. and when i am, she takes my using them as an invitation for cuddles

she sits whenever i tell her "NO" like 'who me? i was not doing a bad. i am but small creature'

she asks for a daily walk. she doesn't like the idea of being an outdoor cat. she just wants walks. like, she has lived several months not going outside and has been super happy. she made it clear on her adoption day that she was done with outside. she was perfectly content with being an indoor cat! still is, in a way! i ruined it. for myself. me. i was worried she wasn't being stimulated enough, so i experimented taking her on a walk and now i have created a monster. now she sits by the door and cries until i get out her harness and leash. which she hates her harness in a "no ball, only throw" kinda way. but she has also proven hates going outside alone since she is now ALSO scared of everything (remember those outdoor cats Allegra The Stray would hide from? how they would run away from strangers?? yeah. now that she has a Person, Allegra's turned into one of Them now). yeah.. she runs the fuck away (or as far as she can with a leash) from people she sees on her walks now. and it is pretty obvious she hates cars and dogs too, because when i have walked her outside of our new complex she is too petrified to move. like, she freezes even when just being close to a street. she likes our complex's janky carpeted hallways between the apartments, and she likes the ability to hide behind my legs. being an outdoor cat is something Allegra has decided she is not a fan of. if i try to change things up scenery-wise, she always asks to go home as soon as possible and runs into the apartment if our walks turn too much into what her life was before being adopted (aka. streets/cars, lawns, people walking). she wants walks. she LOVES and BEGS for walks. but not be outside. walks. even though she still hates her harness lmao

and that's Allegra! she's aproximately 2 years old, i've had her for less than a year, and she's assumedly a purebred Siamese cat. and she's also my ESA, or Emotional Support Animal. if applicable, a cuddly and loving pet is helpful for keeping mental health more stable. in my experience of getting one, it was fairly easy to get it permitted; especially a cat because they're super easy to get registered as compared to a dog. i am lucky enough to have regular physician as my doctor that empathizes with mental health and knows it not to be her area of expertise so much as the patient+their therapist (but also i have a history of attempted treatment on my medical record since i was 16), so my getting registered was literally just me asking for a doctor's note and her giving it to me near immediately. i can't take Allegra with me to classes or resteraunts or anything, nor do i even want to, but it forces apartments/hotels to HAVE to let me board with my ESA and to do so without an additional fee. however, i don't know if that's how ESAs work internationally or even in all of the states of America, the country where i live. but it definitely helps to have someone who needs me to get up everyday, who can never trigger me, who makes me laugh with their hijinks, and who cuddles with me regardless of if i have had a good day or bad day. Allegra is especially good at her job by being especially attentive whenever i am anxious. even if it's just me getting a little bit anxious because i'm late in turning an assignment in but have logically decided it doesn't matter because the assignment is only 2 points anyway, just turn it in late and don't focus on it; and she starts patting my leg almost continuously asking for pets inbetween rubbing herself on my legs. it's why i let her get away with never paying rent. i'm really glad she chose me. we both got really lucky with that decision ♡

i don't want to assume your situation, so i won't recommend an ESA for you so much as just remind you that they exist. i hope this all helps you feel supported and encouraged to continue to find the small wonders ♡♡♡

The Results of Concussed Confessions: Chapter 2

So I get one comment on this and suddenly get inspired for a second chapter. I don’t know how my brain works.

Sephiroth looked at herself in her bathroom mirror for a moment. Then she snorted deeply and spat into her sink. She rinsed the mess down the drain and looked back up at herself.

She noticed the bags under her eyes. Noticed the hairs that seemed more dull grey than metallic that were escaping from her nighttime braid.

She tried to smile at herself in the mirror, tried to get warmth into her eyes, get them to crinkle as she curled her lips upward.

It looked like a wince. She let it go. She wasn’t one to change easily. She wasn’t like other people and that wouldn’t change with five minutes work in her bathroom.

With that she shut out the lights and went back to her bed. The person currently in it certainly wouldn’t mind what she hated about herself.

Cloud snores stopped, but didn’t stir when she pulled the bedspread off of him. He made a groan when her cold feet touched his warm legs, but didn’t pull away. She tugged one of his arms around her waist and settled in. He squeezed her once and continued his snoring. She had been lulled to sleep by the sound, on and off, for nearly four years. The realization suddenly hit her. It had been four years since she and Cloud started…whatever this was. She wasn’t sure it was dating. Wasn’t sure Cloud was okay with the idea of her claiming him as his boyfriend. But they would meet up at different places, have dinner, talk a little. Sometimes pull each other into corners to make-out quickly, or meet up for longer periods for sex. And then suddenly they would just…stop.

One would leave for a long period of time…and they wouldn’t talk for a while when they came back. Sephiroth would be dragged down to the labs…and she would fume alone for a few days. Cloud’s SOLDIER results would come in, and he would say bluntly that he didn’t want to see Sephiroth.

Or on occasion, Zack Fair would butt in, remind Seph about the power imbalance between them…and she would try to stay away.

But here they were, back again, and the sex was still pretty good. Sephiroth kissed Cloud’s nose, not realizing she was smiling the way she wanted as Cloud’s wrinkled his nose in protest, and started to doze off again herself.

Cloud woke up before Sephiroth. It happened fairly often after Sephiroth had a lab appointment. He learned not to take it personally. Zack was like that too, when he had to go down there. It wasn’t a happy time. He hoped Sephiroth stalked off alone because she didn’t want to take it out on him. And she was kind of cat-like when she was ready to see him again; cuddly…and sometimes very stupid.

He remembered the first time he spent the night at Sephiroth’s apartment. He had tried to sneak out before she noticed him, but of course she did. She asked him if he was okay, if something was wrong.

At this point, he just got up and raided her fridge. If she wanted him out, she would have kicked him out last night.

Sephiroth shuffled out not long after he started cooking bacon. She looked exhausted, her scowl tempting him to scratch under her chin like he would a kitten. He never really had the courage. He set a hot mug in front of her and she picked her own tea bag to steep. They didn’t talk, just sat and listened to bacon and eggs sizzle, Sephiroth in more of a hungry stupor. She looked exhausted.

Cloud dressed as he ate. He was signed up for materia testing for the SOLDIER exam today, his third attempt now. Materia was always the easy part for him, but he didn’t want to risk being late. Sephiroth seemed to realize he was ready to go when he jammed the last piece of bacon into his mouth.

“You’re leaving?” she asked.

“I’ve got an exam today,” he said simply. She was high up enough in the ranks to know what he was up to…when she was awake that was. Thank the gods she never took part in grading those SOLDIER tests. She’d fall asleep halfway through in her current state. The thought almost made him smile.

“I had a question for you,” she said, but obviously couldn’t remember what it was. He fought not to smile at the great Sephiroth looking so put off by not remembering what she wanted to ask.

“Text me when you remember,” Cloud said, “and eat your breakfast. And drink your tea.” Sephiroth nodded and started eating as he turned around.

She’d be fine in a few hours.

“I don’t think that’s a question you should ask Cloud,” Zackary Fair told his commanding officer. To her credit, she didn’t dismiss it, she seemed…deflated.

“Oh,” was all she said.

“That’s all you have to say?” Zack said.

“I don’t know what else to say,” Sephiroth said, “you know I’m not good at these sort of things. I can’t read social situations. I won’t understand why it’s a bad idea…that’s why I asked you first.” Zack bit his tongue. Ever since he had walked in on Cloud and Sephiroth…this was not a fun can of beans to be a part of. Sephiroth had tried breaking up with Cloud dozens of times, most of them successfully, keeping Cloud’s self-esteem intact. But within three months, the two of them would be back to sneaking off together. Back and forth they went.

Zack worried for Cloud. Young and in love with an emotionless brick was tough on a kid like that…but it didn’t seem to stop him either, no matter the talks Zack tried to give.

“I mean…he is trying for SOLDIER again,” Zack said, “it’s his third try…most people give up after try three. Perhaps…the timing just isn’t ideal.”

“I didn’t think about that,” Sephiroth said.

“Why did you want to ask him?” Zack asked.

“Because I don’t want to ask anyone else,” Sephrioth said, “I never really have.” And Zack felt horribly guilty.

“What the hell,” Zack said, “He is a twenty year old man now…I mean…a text won’t hurt…just…make sure he can back out of it.”

Cloud was wavering in front of the exam sign up lists, trying to find a time that fit into his schedule when his PHS finally buzzed. He narrowed it between two as he pulled it out. He had to read the message twice.

“Do you want to go with me to the Autumn Equinox Company Party? No obligation, I don’t mind going alone.”

And Cloud stood there for a long time, unsure of what to say.

He really didn’t know.

Sephiroth was cleaning her blade after a very quick mission to the slums to take care of some sort of Monster House. It had been…morbidly fun. Then her PHS buzzed back.

“Sure,” was all Cloud said in reply.

Oh gods what did that mean?

Cloud learned from Zack that it was a white tie sort of affair, not the business casual he had been expecting. Thus, Cloud raided Zack’s closet for something that could be hemmed down.

“Did she say why she asked me?” Cloud asked.

“Just that she didn’t want to ask anyone else,” Zack offered. Cloud nodded. Zack had no idea what that nod meant, just assumed that Cloud did.

“That’s usually a good thing,” Aerith offered with her mother’s sewing supplies in tow, “Usually you only ask that from someone you’d consider a friend.”

“I didn’t say it was bad,” Cloud said, “this one is the smallest. Do you even fit in that?”

“No,” Zack said.

“Then why do you have it?”

“For this very occasion,” Zack said. Aerith smirked and shook her head. Cloud pulled on the coat, and buttoned it. The sleeves were long, but fit perfectly around his arms.

“I can work with that,” Aerith said, starting to add pins, “though I guess you’re used to dressing up huh Cloud?”

“That was one time!” Cloud protested. He had gone on exactly one date with Aerith after falling through her roof during a patrol. The date included cross dressing, theft, and a lot of running…and after that Cloud knew someone who was right up her alley.

“I’m still so sad that I missed it,” Zack said, “you had to look amazing.”

“Pretty as a peach,” Aerith said, “though this will look mighty dapper once I’m done.”

“I’ll still be a country bumpkin in a big city party,” Cloud said.

“Seph never stays long,” Zack says, “an hour at most…but she never has brought a date before.”

“I’m not sure I’m a date, Zack,” Cloud said.

“What did she say?” Zack asked.

“Nothing, just asked if I wanted to go,” Cloud said.

“Do you want it to be a date?” Aerith asked. She was sometimes a little too smart about these things. Cloud didn’t answer right away.

“I don’t need it to be anything,” Cloud replied. Zack and Aerith shared a look.

“If she wants it to be a date,” Cloud sighed,” then it’s a date, otherwise…we’re just going to a party together.”

“You don’t…really date anyone else Cloud,” Zack offered. Cloud pointedly did not answer.

“I’m just saying…she might not know to tell you,” Zack said, “you should ask her.”

“I…I just don’t want her to take it the wrong way,” Cloud said, “she’s…she’s tried her best to be nice to me, I just want to return the favor.” Aerith nodded.

“Pants off,” she said, “Slacks on.”

Sephiroth owned a grand total of five dresses and couldn’t decide between any of them. She hated these equinox and solstice parties. She was needed for two minutes and then spent the rest of the time chasing after the people carrying food that never really filled her up. She didn’t really have many people to talk to, and usually those people were drunk. She wasn’t sure how having Cloud would change things.

“So…is this a date?” Zack asked from her kitchen.

“I don’t know,” Sephrioth said, tossing her red one behind her and looking at black one number two again. The red one was too short.

“Do you know if Cloud thinks it is?” Zack asked.

“No,” she said. The green one was too gaudy. The blue one was too pretty. Back to the two black dresses she had.

“Do you…want it to be?” Zack asked. Sephiroth bit her lip.

“I don’t know,” she said. They looked the same to her, how was she supposed to know which one was better.

“Seph?” Zack asked.

“Given the choice between not knowing and having Cloud stalk off when he’s taking his exams…I’d rather just not know,” Sephiroth said, “this could be the one. I don’t want to be the reason he fails again.”

“You mean…you don’t want him to quit and go back home,” Zack said. Sephiroth didn’t deem that with a response. It had been four years on and off but that was more than what most people gave her.

“I don’t think Cloud would quit,” Sephiroth said, “I think if he did fail he would be the first SOLDIER to take the exam four times…but I’d rather Cloud not fail because I’m…distracting him. If he doesn’t want it to be a date, I’m not going to push it.” Sephrioth shoved both dresses out of her closet.

“Pick one,” she demanded. Zack handed number two back to her.

“This one looks more comfy,” he said.

More comfy it is.

Cloud’s thought was that she looked…lovely. It was very often his first thought. He had seen her in a dress before…just not in person. Nor in such obvious eyeliner either, or in any lipstick besides chapstick.

It took him a moment to realize she was looking at him too.

“You appear…quite sharp,” she said. He almost laughed at that statement.

“Is that a good thing?” he asked.

“Well…you won’t fit in,” she said, “but I don’t care. I think it looks best on you.” He did crack a smile then. He nearly giggled again when he realized she wasn’t wearing heels, but ballet flats.

“The president hates that I already tower over him,” Sephiroth said. And Cloud did burst into giggles, covering it with his hand. Her mouth twitched in a way that told him she didn’t mind the laughter in the least.

“We may as well head up,” she said, then grumbled, “I’m already hungry.” He started walking. He stopped when he felt her hand on his arm. She took the inside of his bicep and he blushed and held out his arm properly. They walked to the elevator like that.

She noticed Cloud close off when they stepped off the elevator. She wished she knew how to flip that switch, to turn off her emotions rather than just hide them. And then she wished that Cloud would stay open a little so it wouldn’t leave her so alone.

But they walked in together, despite some stares and gesturing hands and that had to mean something…whatever it was.

Cloud struggled not to think to hard about it. He was a captain in a sea of generals, but he had to fake it through, especially after Sephiroth was pulled away from him for her two minutes of fame. He tried to think of something else, but all he could think about was that his results for SOLDIER would be coming in soon.

He grabbed something off one of the plates walking by. It tasted okay, but did nothing to fill the pit in his stomach. He knew better than to go for the champagne. Perhaps saying yes had been a mistake after all.

Summer was hot, very hot. The sun was blazing overhead, making their skins heat up and redden. Beads of sweat were starting to form on Kaneki’s forehead and Hide’s hair was starting to darken with dampness.

“Hey Kaneki, I want to drink some hot chocolate!” Hide suddenly exclaimed into the comfortable silence between them.

“Hide are you okay? Did you get a sunstroke? Do you need some cold water I know i saw some vendors around here…”

“No! I’m okay I just want some hot chocolate..”

“Hide, it’s literally August.”

“So?”

“Well normally hot chocolate is reserved for days when it’s cold and you need something to warm you up, ever heard of that concept?”

“You drink coffee all the time though, how is hot chocolate any different? Who was it that decided that hot chocolate was a winter thing?”

“…” Kaneki looked over at him, exasperated. There was no debating with Hide when he’d already made up his mind. “Fine, I’ll make you some when I make my coffee..”

“Kaneki you’re the best!” Hide grinned and tackled Kaneki in a side hug. Kaneki thought maybe seeing that smile was worth putting up with his irrational demands, and the warmth where his skin met Hide’s was good, even as the sun burned them.

“Yeah, yeah..”

Sticking with Hide was the best decision he’s ever made. Everyone told him not to, it would’ve been the less selfish choice not to. But when Hide opened up and told him that he knew exactly what happened, it might’ve been his weak mental state after being kept a prisoner by Aogiri, but he found himself falling right into the warm arms that welcomed him so enthusiastically.

Hide always met him right where he needed to be met. Hide never pried but was always there, a gentle presence and a soothing voice. He didn’t know how he might’ve turned out if Hide hadn’t accepted him so entirely.

To the surprise of the both of them Kaneki was the one to initiate the relationship they’re currently in.

A few weeks had passed since the 11th ward raid, Kaneki got caught up in another fight. He’d made a pretty fast job out of them. The night was chilly, not enough for snow, but enough for rain. He’d stayed for a while, the rain beating the back on his neck, the asphalt, and the crown of his head.

It had been impossible to hear the footsteps, not in his state, not when the rain had made it almost impossible to hear his own thoughts. A shadow had enveloped him and the rain stopped beating his skull. When he’d looked up he’d been met with a pair of warm chocolate eyes and a tender smile.

“You’re going to catch a cold,” Hide chastised, his tone firm but his smile was unwavering.

He looked beautiful, a splotch of vibrant color against the rainy desaturated scenery. The tips of his hair were damp, his face was red with exertion and his boots were thoroughly soaked and muddy. His lips stood out in the soft pink of his face, worried raw.

It was a spark that lit up his entire being and the next second he yanked the umbrella down so that Hide would have to kneel down opposite to Kaneki’s already kneeling form. If the cold hadn’t already made his knuckles white his tight grip on the umbrella would have.

“Kaneki..?” Hide’s face was close, concerned. Upon closer look his lashes were also damp and his lips trembled ever so slightly from the chilly weather.

“Hide I..” Kaneki shut his eyes tight, he had so many things he wanted to tell Hide in that moment, but all his words stayed at the tip of his tongue, unable to pass through whatever invisible barrier kept them inside.

“Hey..” Kaneki felt warm hands cradle both sides of his face. “It’s okay, talk to me Kaneki.”

Ah, how like Hide to know exactly what to say to get him to talk. Kaneki pressed his eyelids tighter together and leaned into Hide’s touch before prying his eyes open, slowly, and then dragging his pupils to rest them on Hide’s own. Hide’s eye had the intensity of the sun, but at the same time held the tenderness of a summer breeze. Kaneki found himself smiling.

“I love you.”

Hide stayed quiet, his expression blank. One heartbeat, two heartbeats, three heartbeats and his eyes widened, an emotion Kaneki couldn’t place at the time, surprise and fear flickered through them.

Kaneki hurried to add, “It doesn’t have to change anything, I’d never do anything to hurt you Hide.”

“Love me?” Hide’s voice was breathy, his expression joyous. “As in love me?”

“As in I want to date you..” Kaneki’s face burned with embarrassment.

“Kiss me.” Hide’s voice came in an abrupt whisper.

“Hide you don’t have to-”

“Kaneki I’ve loved you as long as I can remember, I didn’t want to ruin things between us so I never said anything. I never thought..-” He laughed breathlessly.

“Hide I..” He was so happy he felt like he was going to burst. Instead of saying anything he let his emotions flow through Hide in a touch of lips. They kissed for Heavens know how long, right there under the relentless rain, their only shelter an umbrella clutched tightly between them.

“Hey Kaneki? What are you thinking about so intently?” Hide didn’t have the usual concern his his tone when Kaneki found himself lost in his thoughts.

He realized belatedly that he had a dumb smile on his face the whole time.

“You.”

Hide’s face dusted a light pink but he was quick to retaliate regardless. “Aw so the real thing has nothing on your lewd fantasies. I won’t lose! Not to my own self. Whatever kinky fantasies plague your poor mind I am here to make them into reality.” Hide had an impossibly serious face throughout this whole exchange, which just made everything that much worse for Kaneki. “I’d never kinkshame you, sweetheart.”

“Oh my god Hide, stop.” Kaneki had to cover his crimson face with both his hands, while he did indeed have a lot of fantasies as decreed by his hormonal nature, he definitely wasn’t going to admit that to Hide any time soon. Not that Hide wouldn’t be entirely happy to wear a playboy bunny suit for him. “Let’s just go in..”

Hide grinned impishly at him but skipped ahead in when Kaneki held the door open for him. Hide made a beeline to the couch chanting “Cat naps” quite loudly.

Kaneki shook his head affectionately and headed to the kitchen to make the infuriatingly energetic blonde his goddamned hot chocolate.

The smell of cocoa mingled with coffee beans and filled the kitchen in an oddly pleasant odour as their beverages brewed. He’d taken to humming lately, full blame on his crappy-dye-job partner. He realized after the drinks were ready that he’d been humming one of Hide’s favorite english songs. The one he sang when they were an entangled mess of glowing limbs, sheen with sweat, their heartbeats one and the same and Hide’s soft melodic voice making the lyrics that Kaneki couldn’t decipher mean everything Hide willed it to mean.

He entered the living room with two mugs and the familiar sight of Hide’s very scarcely dressed body.

“It won’t be as hot if we don’t wear shirts or pants,” Hide shrugged at the I’m-done look Kaneki gave him.

Kaneki chuckled and placed the mugs on the coffee table. He picked up Hide’s messily discarded clothes and folded them neatly on a nearby chair. He gave a deep, fondly exasperated sigh before getting rid of his own shirt and pants.

“You know I have air conditioning, you’re going to be cold in a bit.”

“Then get a blanket. Blankets are also important for catnaps.”

“You’re an idiot.”

“Actually my amazing brain saved your ass many times. And as I recall it I always had better marks, correct me if I’m wrong.” Hide’s lips were pulled over his teeth in a shit eating grin.

“Fractionally. And I always had better marks in literature.” Kaneki took the challenge- bait- willingly. “And as I recall it you’ve been less than kind to my ass.”

Hide almost choked on his laughter. “You know you like it.”

“I do.” Kaneki finally joined Hide on the couch, chest flush against chest and lips melting together.

“Catnaps. No rabbit action this fine afternoon.” Hide quickly said when Kaneki broke the kiss. But Kaneki went for his neck instead. “Jeez Kaneki can’t you wait till the sun at least goes down?”

“Kissing doesn’t make catnaps rabbit action,” Kaneki’s words were shapes on Hide’s neck. “Plus, it’s too hot right now.”

“Weren’t you the one who was just talking about air conditioning?”

“Blankets are important for catnaps.” Kaneki grinned and pulled the one he brought with him over the both of them. He helped Hide sit up and wrapped it securely around their shoulders. He reached to pick up their mugs from the table and handed Hide his. “We should drink these before they go cold.”

Hide happily complied and took a cautious sip out of his mug.

“Kaneki, let’s get married.”

Kaneki choked on the mouthful of coffee he’d just sipped. “What?”

“This is the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had! How come you’ve never made me any before? I can’t live without this now that I’ve tasted it.”

Kaneki chuckled breathlessly. “Do you need to be so dramatic?”

“I mean, it’s a given we’ll get married at some point..” Hide teased, but his eyes were fixed over his mug as he took another mouthful of the heavenly beverage. His face was flushed a warm red.

Kaneki’s heart extended in his chest and he felt warmth flood into it.

“There is no one else I’d want to spend the rest of my life with Hide. Of course we will.”

Hide leaned in for a kiss but he lagged just before their lips touched to look Kaneki in the eye. “You know exactly how to make a man melt don’t you?” Hide’s words was a hushed breath against Kaneki’s lips.

Kaneki’s lips spread into a tender smile. “Funny I could same the exact same thing about you, Hide.”

Hide just let his eyes flutter shut and Kaneki got only a glimpse of his serene expression before their lips brushed and his own eyelids lost all the strength to carry themselves open.

Hide’s lips tasted like chocolate. Good chocolate he hadn’t tasted since he’d turned into a ghoul. The sweet rich taste didn’t make him sick and Kaneki smiled into the kiss and realized that Hide was smiling too.

When they broke off Hide spurt out the word “mocha” before bursting into laughter. Kaneki joined him when he understood what Hide meant.

“You’re ridiculous.”

“You laughed.”

“That’s just because your laughter is infectious..!”

Hide blushed. “You don’t just say that Kaneki!” Hide whined.

“Well I guess the joke was a bit funny too..”

“Ah, what do I do with you?” Hide grumbled and placed a quick kiss on Kaneki’s nose but didn’t pull away and kept his nose pressed against Kaneki’s.

They finished their beverages in comfortable silence, their legs tangled up and their bodies touching everywhere they could get away with without second degree burns.

Kaneki swiped Hide’s mug out of his hand and placed it next to his on the coffee table. He picked up one of the books stacked on there and kissed Hide once more before repositioning their bodies so that he was lying between Hide’s legs with his book perched on Hide’s chest.

“Hey I can’t even see your face..” Hide pouted.

Kaneki’s only reply was laying the book flat and scooting forward more. Hide resigned himself to his fate and made a home for his fingers in Kaneki’s hair. They spent the entire remainder of the afternoon like that, Kaneki focused on his book and Hide focused on Kaneki’s adorable expression and the softness of his hair. Every few minutes Hide would find a gentle melodic string of words flowing through his lips. Kaneki always looked so relaxed when Hide sang to him.

After a while, when the sun started to finally say goodbye to the heights of the sky and when the light streaming through Kaneki’s windows started receding bit by bit, Kaneki finally shut his book and his eyes met Hide’s.

“I’m happy.” Kaneki said simply.

Hide smiled, surprised but pleased. “So am I, but that was kind of out of nowhere, my poor heart.”

Kaneki laughed. “I’m just.. I’m happy I chose to be selfish and act like my heart told me to.”

“Did the character in the book not do that?” Hide ever so brilliant caught on fast.

Kaneki’s smile widened, “I might be a fool for choosing this, but I’m not a sad fool.”

“You’re not a fool, you know I can handle myself. There is nothing wrong with your choice, you’re not being selfish or putting me in danger Kaneki.”

“Yeah my boyfriend is not someone anyone wants to mess with,” Kaneki teased. “What was it again? That time you talked a ghoul into eating his own fingers?”

“Hand,” Hide laughed.

“So merciless!”

“Says you,” Hide gave him a pointed look.

“Okay okay, I guess no one should mess with either of us.”

“So what season would you like the wedding date to be in? Personally I think spring would be great and romantic.”

“Oh my god,” Kaneki hid his face in his hands. “I guess we’ve got each other to mess with after all.”

Hide laughed and pecked Kaneki on the forehead. “I’m hungry, will you let me go for a few minutes?”

“I guess. You have ten minutes, if you’re not back by then you have to wear bunny ears.”

“Kinky.”

They both burst into laughter. Kaneki looked over to his book, he really didn’t know where he would’ve ended up if he didn’t have Hide.

So I feel like ever since we went to Con of Thrones Zizzou has been SUUUUPER cuddly. Like he does like to cuddle but he’s been even more into it lately like the other day we woke up and he was sleeping in bed between us under the covers with just his head sticking out and it was really cute ☺️☺️☺️

Lately Walder has been getting the cat crazies at night and he starts chasing Zizzie and they run all around and it’s really cute because they jump really high and just look like they’re having so much fun!! Walder likes to play with this ball we have on a string it makes a crunchy sound and he loves to do the little stalk-wiggle butt-pounce thing to it!

I hope those are good stories I could also tell you their origin stories are how we adopted both of them if you want! I love my baby beans!

i haven’t written here in a bit. i’m still a bit stressed, in different ways than 4 or so months ago. i got laid off from my job a little bit after i moved (especially to be closer to that job..) and i’m not having much fun doing the job hunt thing again. it makes me feel really down on myself because i get rejections after rejections and it’s been that way before. i’m certain it’s because my resume doesn’t reflect the best retail/experience/etc and idek. I’m proud of my resume and I know I’ve worked hard in the past and have actually done those things. but ppl apparently don’t want to take a chance on me.... and all i want to do is prove myself and work hard and actually feel safe with stable income. sorry for complaining, i feel like i’m venting a bit lately i need to chill and feel more positive, though it’s hard.

i have been loving to cook way more, actually put some attention and way more love into stuff that i did/do on the side usually. knitting, reading, taking care of myself. that’s very positive. i have thought about venturing into hobbies that might help me make an income in the future, and starting right now because i have the time and sort of the money? and it would be nice to start this early on because i have a passion + strive to do it hrmm. so.. i’m still thinking on it, for now i’ll try to look into what i need/how to do it and i might buy the equipment later down the line bcus the stuff i want to do is at home and has a community of people that i enjoy and that seem pretty sweet. but we will see..

i still love living in this place, even with small faults and even though we’re both a bit lazy sometimes. Nicolai, one of my past cats came back into my life and is now in our care and he’s the loveliest little bean and I love him dearly. he’s been such a cuddly kitty and i like taking him on walks recently when it’s been nice and having him around as company makes me feel safe and nice. I really do hope that I can feel more positivity in my life and feel safe + stable soon. that would be the dream.

But in reality shows and vlives he is actually just such a cute sweet bean and he loves the members so much! He was a child actor in china and was p famous I think for a while?? But he learned Korean p well before he joined pledis (their label btw idk if you know or not lol) BUT EVEN FROM DEBUT HIS PRONUNCIATION HAS KEPT IMPROVING IM SO PROUD a lot of people cal him the true visual of svt (tbh I don’t like that bc they’re all beautiful don’t put anyone down ah) BUT HE IS SO HANDSOME LIKE DAMN BOY HE’S GOT SUCH NICE FEATURES AND HE IS THE CUTEST BEAN IN THE WORLD Alsoooo several of the members have dubbed him svt’s mother bc he’s super encouraging and “endless positivity jun” and he pays special attention to minghao they have the purest friendship!! It’s so heartbreaking tho if you ever want to cry and cough up your lungs bc of sobs then watch SVT Project where he talks abt how he feels so much pressure and feels like their success or failure is riding on him bc he writes all their music and will determine if they will be any good:(((( BUT OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE A BIG HIT BC JIHOONIE IS SUPER TALENTED AND MAKES THE BEST UPBEAT FUNKY FRESH POP TUNES OF THE CENTURY~ he is one of (if not the) shortest male idols at the moment at a staggering 165cm/5'4"! But it’s so great bc he doesn’t try to hide his heigh and he is considered and “inspiration to short men” according to one fashion report. The members always say he is rlly manly but on camera he acts cute and 10/10 appreciate it bc he is the cutest ever but only subtly… like he embarrassingly/shyly covers his face so cutely and gets angry so adorably where he just glares aw (he has also confirmed that he considers himself to be more cute than scary) woozi is a abbreviation of “our jihoon” which is the cutest asjkdhskl. He is also seventeen’s grandpa bc he is rlly not too hip at all but they try to help him out anyway! He also winks 24/7 lol. His voice is rlly clear and piercing like he often sings parts of the chorus and his voice draws you in idk it’s nice:) he trained for the second longest amount after scoops (5 years) so they’re super close bc they were together longer than the other membersLee Seokmin aka Dokyeom/DK - an actual ray of sunshine w the most incredible vocals like wow! He is svt’s “happy virus” and boy does he own it!! He is always smiling and laughing and making jokes he is the cutest I stg… He also has a more built figure physically and it’s hot as heck tbh. He, seungkwannie and soonyoung make up the “booseoksoon” trio which is basically the extra/mc/always laughing squad and they are such close friends it’s the cutest ever boo and hosh think he’s the funniest person in the world I love it!! Seokmin also puts a lot of pressure on himself bc he’s main vocal and I feel like he’s super underrated???? But he went on King of Masked Singer and I think he made it through two or three rounds? Anyway he did rlly rlly good (even tho honestly think he has way more potential than what he showed) and I hope it boosted his confidence bc he is incredible!! The judges assumed he was from an older group bc his voice was so mature eeeee!! HE IS SO LOUD OH MY GOD one time they said that the CEO could hear him practicing from the 4th floor while he was in the basement I- He is always the first person to make fun of himself and he doesn’t mind being the brunt of a joke as long as he gets people to laugh it’s adorable:)) He always brings up the mood and helps out the members whenever there is awkwardness w being filmed and such JUST SUPPORT THIS SUNNY BOY HE HAS SO MUCH LOVE AND JOY IN HIS HEART!!Kim Mingyu - the tallest bean on the block and svt’s “visual tree” at a staggering 190cm/6'1" (correct me if I’m wrong I didn’t look this up) but I’m p sure he has grown recently bc he is getting taller everyday I swear? He’s got some good rap mhmm~ But he is such a clumsy pup and the members always make fun of him but it’s okay bc he can take it (he has the best reaction so that’s why they do it) He is dropping things and tripping 25/8 and it’s the cutest thing! But “housewife ming” can legit do anything like he is a true man of many talents damn i.e. cooking, hairstyling, acting, cleaning… But he is so so pretty like who the heck allowed him to be this attractive?? Gyu goes from super visual savior to fluffy pup on the daily and it’s too much to handle… Idk he seems like he might be super cool and chic when you first see him but he is actually just a giggly fool always having a hard time… Mingyu is the only one in svt that I would call the “visual” (only bc he is officially the visual i think they are literally gorgeous okay!!) but he is actually rlly insecure abt it and only calls himself “aspiring visual” and it’s mostly bc of his dark complexion WHICH IS COMPLETELY FLAWLESS AND SO BEAUTIFUL STOP WHITEWASHING KIM MINGYU PLZ but i rlly commend him for being visual despite common opinions/standards on skin color in korea. A lot of people (okay most people) ship him and wonwoo (aka meanie) and I do too, don’t get me wrong, but my all time favorite ship is mingyu and minghao (aka gyuhao) bc same age, they act like they hate each other but are actually super supportive (one of my fave tropes blah) and idk they’re both just confused pups help me and w that transition…

Xu Minghao/Seo Myungho(kor) aka The8 (i never call him the8 ever srry b i don’t like it idk ah) - our “cool cutie” from northeast(i think) China with the most killer bboying skills i’ve ever seen in kpop! He now introduces himself as “The8 with infinite possibilities” and he has been growing more and more as an artist and a person I’m so proud of him!! He trained for the shortest amount of time (~1year+2months i believe) and he really struggled w Korean when he first started. Even after debut he was very quiet but he has been talking more and more lately and he has been doing so well!! Minghao is cute as heck but he is also (along w hannie) svt’s Resident Savage™ and the main usage of his Korean improvement has gone into calling out the other members w his incredible comebacks. Two of his favorite targets seem to be soonyoung and mingyu but he rlly doesn’t hold back on anyone (except maybe jun bc they are such good buddies bc china line and jun helps him w his korean asjkklfjls) But anyway he is an incredible dancer and singer and also rapper!! (give him more lines plz plz plz) vernon has been helping him w his korean rapping but he is already one lit mandarin rapper like damn… But minghao is the most supportive member of svt (hear me out) whenever they do broadcasts or radio shows minghao always gives thumbs ups/supportive smiles/high fives it is the purest thing and part of the reason I love him sm!!! He’s also super cuddly and is always touching/hugging the other members asjkltfasd. Sometimes he doesn’t quite understand a question and the other members help explain it to him it’s my favorite concept (it’s usually soonyoung or seungcheol but i’ve seen p much all of them do it) lately he has been getting more meme-y and idk how to feel but as long as he’s getting out of his comfort zone I am immensely proud of him:))

Boo Seungkwan (boo) - the other main vocal in svt and just generally the loudest and usually mc for the group. Boo has some of the most incredible vocals i’ve seen in my life and he sings probably my favorite cover duet of all time (the high note around 3:05 makes me emotional every time istg also their reactions are me) He’s so talented and his voice is so clear and nice and his RANGE! I could go on forever… To describe seungkwan in two words would be sweet and sassy… He is part of maknae/baby line but he’s always calling people out and bossing them around it’s hilarious. (he is generally hilarious tbh) Also he’s a huge volleyball program nerd it’s great (and possibly haikyuu!! but not confirmed) He’s commonly referred to as divaboo and the video just seungkwan things captures all his divaness perfectly 10/10 would rec! He’s also super english-y all the time probably bc he spends so much time w vernon which is great for us international fans whoop whoop. But back to him being sweet- even though he is definitely his own biggest fan (in the most adorable way omg) he is also svt’s biggest fan he always cheers on his members it’s so cute he’s so soft and good! He cares so much for the fans and he’s head of the Seventeen Fan Cafe (i think) and he’s great abt interacting w carats and all that fanservicey stuff:) He is also super underappreciated honestly support him bc he supports everyone else even tho he’s rlly insecure abt his looks and body even tho he is the most beautiful boo w THE BEST CHEEKBONES IN THE UNIVERSE HAVE YOU SEEN THOSE THINGS DAMN BOY

Hansol Vernon Chwe/Choi Hansol(kor) aka Vernon (bernonie) - One of the most well-known members of svt bc he’s half white and was also a child actor. He has some of the most lit raps tbh and i’m p sure every single one (or almost) has english in it lol. His mom is white and American and his dad is from Korea. Technically he was born in New York, USA BUT BUT BUT he moved to korea when he was five so he doesn’t remember it like at all and every host ever asks him abt it and he always has to say he is basically korean and JUST LET HIM LIVE but since his mom speaks english he is fluent in it (but he has said he is better at korean) He is super super visual and he gets more attractive every day like who the heckkk. Hansol is one of the more popular members so a lot of people would expect him to be outgoing (or even douchey bc he’s half white which is dumb yet it happens) but he is one of the quietest members and usually doesn’t speak up in interviews and such bc he’s kinda shy! BUT THIS DOES NOT I REPEAT DOES NOT MEAN HE IS NOT A MEME!! VERNON IS CONFIRMED THE MEMEIST MEMBER OF SVT ALONG W JOSHUA DON’T FIGHT ME. At this point he has even been dubbed “memesol” bc he makes the best reaction faces in recorded history dear god. He also finds literally everything so hilarious and definitely laughs the most whenever the other members do anything. But honestly he is a super cute, sweet pup who deserves a whole lotta love!! also kinda unrelated but one of my favorite posts of all time is dedicated to him i don’t even know…

Lee Chan aka Dino (MY SON) - I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START W THIS LIL BAB! Lee Chan is svt’s “small giant” maknae who is Michael Jackson’s #1 Fan™ and literal dancing machineeee! He has grown so much since debut i cannot believe and he is getting more confident MY BOY! Honestly his glow up should be some kinda world record bc oh my god it hasn’t even been two years?? AND HIS RAP HAS IMPROVED SO MUCH LIKE EVEN FROM JAM JAM TO OMG Vernon rapped most of jam jam but then in omg chan rapped all of it by himself!!!! ALSO EVEN FROM OMG TO HIGHLIGHT NOW HE TRANSITIONS FROM RAPPING STRAIGHT INTO SINGING WITH THE SAME BREATH I CANNOT BELIEVE!! But he is so creative and funny and full of energy!! He helps hoshi w most of the dances (i think he did most of the choreo for jam jam) and his stage name is dino bc when he steps on the stage he takes it over and becomes a big presence like a dinosaur which is so creative??? he also graduated high school a while back and then just too his entrance exams!! I’m so proud!! But he tries so hard to keep improving and he’s just so pure and has a complete heart of gold♥ He also aspires to be an mc and he works rlly hard to improve his skills on that front too! Chan is so incredibly talented, but again not a whole lot of people bias him which is crazy???? Bc he is so hansome and also my son?? also lowkey savage af But all the members love him a whole lot and he is their baby, even though he is now “an adult” but srry bun no one will probably ever stop calling him baby (esp jeonghan)
