Aaaah, I’m sorry if I’m bothering you with all these asks, but I have to know this! How would Black Myth Wukong go with Dove in it, considering the story? Especially with what happened to the original Wukong and her potential interactions with the Destined One?
OOOOOOOH THIS ONE IS INTERESTING!! Also, don't ever apologise for giving me asks to answer, I love yapping so you're doing me a favour. Also I hope you know the vault of angst and depression you just opened
Ok so just letting you know, I have two different endings for PoM I may go with: a happy ending… and a less happy ending. Since I'm already feeling depressed, I'm gonna answer this as though the less happy ending is what happens. In it, Dove gains immortality (but for reasons I won't disclose yet) and is separated from everyone forever, including Wukong. He can't even try to save her because, well… spoilers.
I know the basics of the game lore so sorry if I get anything wrong/misunderstand anything, but this is how I think it'd go. Also, spoilers under the cut for Black Myth Wukong.
TW: Suicide
So from my understanding, the Destined One isn't technically Wukong, but he inherits his memories by the end of the game. With that in mind, I see this going similar to what I've seen of Wukong finding a reincarnated reader, but reversed.
Dove eventually escapes the place she is trapped in, but by the time she makes it back to Flower Fruit Mountain to find Sun Wukong… the worst has already happened. Erlang is the one who tells her how Sun Wukong ended his life, his final plan to free himself from the Heaven's grasp.
Before being separated, Dove had already learned some hard truths from Guan Yin about events concerning her past. Learning about what her master had been keeping secret from her, and then the relief of seeing her love again being crushed by the reality of his suicide, it breaks her. She had spent years fighting to get back to her Peaches, to the one that she could always depend on. He was with her when she learned about Guan Yin's secrets, they had to drag him away from her the day they were separated– it hits her then, the last moment she ever saw him was when he was in pain, clawing at demons that pulled him further away from her. The last she ever saw of those beautiful sunset eyes… they were filled in anguish and rage.
After learning of Sun Wukong's fate, Dove grows bitter and cold. She doesn't return to Potalaka Mountain– she can't stand to be in the presence of any of the deities anymore, not even the one who raised her. Who lied to her. Moksa checks in on her every now and then, from a distance, she won't talk to him either. It's a pitiful sight, how she becomes a shell of her former self. Dove cuts contact with nearly everyone and travels the road on her own, helping people where she can, but no task she does is ever enough to distract her from that emptiness that takes root inside. It's painful, and no matter how hard she tries, that pain won't go away.
Then, by chance, she comes across a monkey demon.
Confusion is the first word that comes to mind when describing her reaction to seeing the Destined One for the first time. Maybe her mind is just playing tricks on her again… but this doesn't feel like she's seeing things. He feels real. Dove has already gone through the emotional ups and downs of meeting a reincarnated loved one before, but this is different. It's different because it's Sun Wukong. There has never been another like him.
She does suppose the same holds true once she spends more time with the Destined One, he isn't like Sun Wukong. He's more… stoic. He doesn't say much, and compared to the talkative Monkey King, it's a little unnerving at first. Is this really the person she loves? It's a question she struggles with as she goes through the game with him, helping him. Travelling with the Destined One, it's almost reminiscent of the original journey. That's what Dove tells herself, anyway.
Whether or not it really is him, it's safe to say any reincarnated/reborn Monkey King would be falling for Dove pretty hard. I'm still figuring out how the Destined One would be around her at first, maybe he's a little put off by this strange immortal woman who decided to tag along with him. She's helpful, so he doesn't mind the company, but that doesn't stop him from wondering why she's with him. Maybe there's one night where she's helping him recover from a serious fight, probably scolding him for something reckless he did as she works her magic and all he can do is frown. Why does she care so much about him?
Whether he can understand her motives or not, he does appreciate it. Having another person to face these hardships with, someone who has his back through the toughest battles and his lowest moments, he's never had that before. Or maybe, it's just something he's missed. It's strange, how she is able to comfort him. Not just because of her tranquil power, it isn't necessarily her calming aura that puts his mind to rest… there's something deeper, something that tugs at his chest and pulls him to her. This longing to be near her.
He wants to know more, ask why she's so intent on helping him, but Dove is good at avoiding questions, she's constantly guarded around him. The Destined One likely wouldn't pry as much as Wukong would in this situation, but his curiosity still kills him inside. Instead of getting his answers from her, he starts finding the answers in his head, with educated guesses. Maybe Dove was just so awe-struck by his handsomeness that she decided to help him in any way she can, on the spot. He liked that theory 😏
As their journey continues, they do warm up to each other more. Maybe they pass through a village in the midst of a celebration and Dove manages to convince the Destined One to dance with her. Sun Wukong did the same for her all those years ago. Maybe one night after setting up camp for the night, the Destined One begins to comb through her hair, not thinking too much of it since it's normal for other monkeys to preen through one another's hair, it's a show of his affection.
Dove is usually so guarded, but in that moment her walls come crumbling down. She tries to push down her silent sobs, but it's difficult. Sun Wukong was the last person to go through her hair like this, and the simple action brings back so many fond memories. When he realises she's crying, he stops but she grabs his hand before he can fully pull away.
"Don't stop, please. It's okay, I'm… I'm okay."
Maybe he pulls her close after that, holding her in his arms as she does the same. There's so much pain in her heart, and all he wants is to take it away. The only question is, how?
By the end of the game where the Destined One gains all of Wukong's memories, so many of Dove's actions become clear to him. She can see in his eyes when he looks at her, a new hint recognition in his features as she realises who she really is, who she was to Sun Wukong.
Even by this point, Dove is conflicted over her feelings for the Destined One. She's come to love him throughout their journey, but is it the same love? Or is there some part of her brain convincing her it has to be the same, that this is the same man she fell in love with. Does she love this new Monkey King, or the memory he represents?
If one thing is for certain, the Destined One is confident in his feelings for her. Even before receiving those memories, he had been falling for Dove with every moment they spent together. If anything, these memories only make his love for her stronger, knowing what they've been through in a past life, how she stayed by him through this new journey because of their past.
…But he can't be sure whether she feels the same. Not when he still doesn't know if he is Sun Wukong, or just holds his memories now. It's something they'd have to work through and figure out together, but one thing is for certain. Dove doesn't plan on leaving anytime soon.

Do you have any headcanons for after an escape attempt with each monkey demon ( Mk , Monkey king and macaque) What would be their reaction at first? What would they do when they find you? How stricter would they get? What would they start doing differently after the attempt?
Tumblr media
MK, as usual, has very different responses depending on the season he’s in.
Season 1 MK probably doesn’t even consider the possibility that Y/N could “escape”. This is when the relationship between the two of you is at it’s healthiest, before this poor boy goes through hell and back.
You aren’t locked up, he doesn’t have you hidden away, there’s nowhere that you’re explicitly forbidden to go- there’s nothing to escape from. His assumption isn’t “Y/N is running away from me!” or “I can’t let them escape!” but instead, “It’s been a while since I’ve seen Y/N… so I’ll drop everything to go visit them right now!”
Sometimes he abandons all prior goals to run off and see you. Sometimes he rushes through a fight and ends it a little more… fiercely than his opponents would have liked.
Tumblr media
Once the trauma starts rolling in and Y/N becomes his coping mechanism as much as they are his friend, MK starts to personally define exactly what counts as “escape”.
You aren’t allowed to leave his side without telling where you’ll be going and when you’ll be back. If you’re a competent enough fighter to take on a Bull Clone or two, he won’t push this ‘rule’ as hard. And if you can’t do that?
Then MK makes a serious push for you to train with him. He’ll beg and pester Wukong to teach you at least some of the 72 Transformations as a form of defending yourself or getting out of nasty scrapes without his help. Eventually, his mentor concedes (after some serious bribery on MK’s part) and allows you to take part in the sessions.
But until you can reasonably take care of yourself against two or three opponents at once, MK is by your side every minute he gets the chance. Running off or giving him the slip means little once he’s mastered his Gold Vision, which he does very quickly. Or he can extend his pole to the skies to get a much better view of the surrounding area to see exactly where you ran off to.
Give him the slip too many times, and MK will tie your wrist to his with his headband, ensuring that you don’t get “lost” as he drags you along after him.
“C’mon, Y/N! I already got permission from Pigsy for you to stay the night!”
“That’s sweet of you both, really… but last time I stayed the night, it turned into a week.”
“I know! That was the best, wasn’t it?! Maybe this time, we can stretch it out to a month!”
Tumblr media
Sun Wukong will let it slide once. Just once, he’ll give you the benefit of the doubt, choosing to believe that you wouldn’t go running off with a very good reason. After that, his restrictions mount and your freedoms decline one by one. Each consecutive escape brings you one step close to being locked inside Shuilian Cave, where he decides that you are safest.
But that’s for a later day, once you’ve run his trust dry.
For now, he believes in you.
So he’ll let you leave, giving you a single day to tend to whatever business that you needed to attend to so urgently that you left.
All alone. In the middle of the night. With a single packed bag.
Wukong will let this one first escape slide, because lord only knows that he’s pulled so many horseshit antics that his kid/friend/student/whatever Y/N is running off once isn’t that big of a deal. And really…
He wants to believe in you here. He wants to think that this is something you’re doing for a very good reason, instead of just being a desperate attempt to get away from him.
When the single day he allots you is over and done, you can start counting out your precious, meager minutes of freedom one by one.
In less than an hour, his flying cloud blazes through the sky and blisters the earth like a comet, leaving a crater of destruction and cinders where it lands.
And aboard the vaporous mount is none other the Great Sage himself, arms folded and grin forced.
“Hey there, bud. You been out here having fun, huh?”
No vigor or vim to line his words. No electric cheer to fuel his fluid movements. No warmth in his tone.
It’s almost hard to call him Sun Wukong.
But it is him here, and he’s here for you. He offers you a hand, stiff and tense. The way the acts makes it clear there’s no choice but to take it, not when the air grows thick and the tension is stormy.
“C’mon, bud. Time to head home.”
Tumblr media
Pre-Season 4 Macaque is the only one on this list that’s immoral enough to outright kidnap someone, in my opinion. MK might guilt you into staying with him, and while Sun Wukong would technically commit kidnapping, it’s by virtue of not letting you leave instead of forcibly taking you away. It’d be more along the lines of false imprisonment.
But Macaque?
If all his careful maneuvers and schemes prove inefficient in keeping you close, he’ll switch to brute force in the blink of an eye.
Macaque; at the start, gently manipulates you. His shackles are first gossamer, innocuous and kind. He builds you up and tears you down in increments, never swaying too far to either side. You never feel confident enough to leave, never feel hurt enough to lash out.
He doesn’t chase after you. He makes you feel unstable and dependent, then molds you into seeing him as a shelter that you aren’t strong enough to leave.
It’s a brutal process for Y/N, especially if they’re his student, because he intentionally picks a lonely and insecure person for the sake of rivaling MK.
And if you do somehow break free from the psychological and emotional strings he uses to puppeteer you about, Macaque simply switches to physically stringing you up with his shadows and forcing you to act out your deepest insecurities as he narrates them to an audience of shadow clones.
“Poor little Y/N… forever on their own, watching from the shadows while all the rest of the world laughs and loves with one another.”
The shadows around your body maneuver and mold you, forcing you to wave your hands and walk, dragging your lips into frowns and smiles. Every little shame and self-doubt you possess is bared to the light, bared to his shadows, and you can’t help but be strung along as a passive watcher in your very own story.
You break into tears halfway through, devolving into hysteric sobbing by the end.
And Macaque; no longer a shelter but instead a jail, offers you comfort to reel you back into his grasp. He’ll take you into his arms as you weep, promising to make you stronger, strong enough to forget the past and all that he’s forcing you to leave behind.
Now that you’re rendered to your most reduced state, he can start to work his magic.
“Trust me, kiddo… everything I’m doing, I’m doing for your own good. You get me?”

I can see in the event of an au where Wukong and Luzhen had hat he's together being interesting.
Wukong would probably still be the older twin and the one to become the Monkey King, I imagine it'd be a difference of Wukong hatching and his lazer eyes, instead of hitting the Jade Palace, accidentally opens a hole in the ground where Luzhen's egg was and Shitougushi recognizing the petrified monkey as the Consort and therefore the egg is Shihou's sibling.
I can see Wukong still becoming the Monkey King and eventually the Great Sage, but with a bit of a difference personality since he has his twin there won't feel as much pressure to be perfect. Meaning his quieter and more wallflower tendencies are easier to see. People misunderstand that for aloofness or arrogance.
He still ends up under the mountain eventually tho, Luzhen hadn't been a part of the Brotherhood and had been on his own Journey of Self Discovery when he learns his big brother was imprisoned. He will never let his sweet, shy older twin forget it. It's too funny for him to think of since they all had thought Luzhen would be the one to end up in a bad crowd, not Wukong!
Adult Luzhen, to me, feels a bit like Porty. A bit of a party animal, bit of a playboy, all Rockstar energy. The difference is that he isn't so over the top. This is only in the hypothetical au where he grew up as the Great Sage's twin brother and not where he hatches later and is adopted by his brother as another child. Again, this is because they didn't have much of a proper parental figure outside of the Elder, who died when they were both young.
Since Luzhen is there, you can BET Macaque had to go through HURDLES to get his blessing to court Wukong. Don't get them wrong, Luzhen had been teasing his twin for centuries about his crush on the Lotus Ear, but he sure as heck isn't gonna let that stop him from exercising his sibling rights. When he learns about the fight under the mountain he outright banished Macaque from the island until Wukong is allowed to return home (so not until after the Journey since every time he returned home he had to leave again). The Brotherhood recieve similar treatment, which may contribute to their belief that Wukong is a traitor. He doesn't play play games, especially when it comes to his considerably stronger but more shy twin and the people who put him in that position to begin with.
Zu Baije, who had not known Wukong was a twin since Luzhen was gone throughout the entire time Wukong was dealing with Heaven, was outraged to discover there were TWO of them and the one they got was actually the SHY one!
Prev.
The Super Monkey Bros.
I love the mental imagery of Luzhen being like Wukong's version of Porty MK - the blue-eyed monkey being so much more active and bombastic than his older brother.
I feel like Luzhen's personality is a lot like Netflix's Monkey King in a way; far more immature and reckless, but ultimately just seeking purpose and affection.
(Which now is making me think of a Wukongverse au where All the monkeys are brothers/surviving Stone Eggs who got mistaken for the same figure over time)
And poor Macaque XD he thought the Stalwarts, DBK, and Guanyin aere bad enough, wait till he reaches the final boss that is Wukong's Protective Little Brother.
I like the idea of Luzhen going on his own Journey during the 500 years Wukong is imprisoned. Perhaps occassionally coming home to FFM to govern and beat up hunters threatening their people. And the make sure Macaque knows he's still banned from speaking to his big brother for hurting his feelings so badly.
Luzhen spreads the story of Sun Wukong in his own way through song, strumming on a Qinqin or tapping on a drum about his big brother's exploits.
And of course even in trying to keep hinself out of trouble, Luzhen still causes trademark monkey mischief, causing people to wonder if Sun Wukong has already been released.
Zhu Bajie, learning that the Monkey King is a travel buddy: "Oh hell yeah! This is gonna be fun!" Only to learn to his horror and disappointment that there's two monkeys considered king, and he's stuck with the studious lightweight nerd one. XD
Dont think Tripitaka would be able to put a circlet on Luzhen if the little brother monkey was there for the Journey, but Wukong would be able to keep him on good behavior.
Its an interesting au to consider

Wukong cares about people. Macaque isn't a saint.
Alright, I've wanted to write this for a while, so here I go. English isn't my first language, so sorry for any typos.
I've been watching so many fananimations of LEGO Monkie Kid. They're all gorgeous, top of the top, excellent, chef kiss and I'm glad the fandom seems to be growing every day.
But I HATE how so many people have portrayed Wukong as an asshole who doesn't care about anyone. Love the animations, they're great but I don't think Wukong is the villain people make him out to be.
Now don't get me wrong, Wukong has made many, many, many, mistakes throughout his life. The thing is, people don't seem to realize that while he messed up, his intentions were good! "Yeah, right, then how is he such a bad mentor?" I'm gonna shut you up right there.
When MK first got the staff, he didn't know how to use it, I agree with you. But Wukong is a milennia old stone monkey who has gone through a lot on his life, getting stronger and stronger with each fight.
"Pfft, what about DBK? You can handle it! Consider it a trial"
That's what he tells MK when said boy asks him what to do with DBK, because for Wukong that fight is easy. He then reassures him that with enough confidence in himself he could take him on. He trusted MK since the first moment and even told him to consider it as a trial. He was evaluating MK during his fight to make sure he had picked the right successor.
Tumblr media
And just in case and most probably noticing how nervous he was on his first fight, he kept an eye out on him to make sure to intervene in case MK needed help. Wukong already knew that MK was invincible before locking away some of his powers in the second episode, therefore he was confident that he would succeed. And even if he already knew he was going to defeat DBK, he still watched over him to make sure he wouldn't get hurt.
Following this battle, in the first episode "Bad Weather", MK doesn't call for Wukong's help. He's confronting Red Son when suddenly the staff acts on its own and takes him down to the ground and who appears afterwards? The Monkey King himself! Almost as if he had sensed that MK needed some help with defeating Red Son. Almost as if he had been the one to call for the staff so he could talk with his student. Again, he showed up on his own because he cares.
Tumblr media
"Then what about that time he abandoned him?"
He didn't abandon him. To abandon someone is to stop supporting them, to give up completely in someone. Monkey King knew that LBD was coming back but he didn't want either MK or his friends to get hurt.
He's used to doing things on his own! I mean, on JTTW Wukong was always sent ahead to see if there were any demons that would kidnap Tripitaka. And even though he warned his companions numerous times that there were demons under the disguise of innocent people, they wouldn't believe him. So why should he tell MK and his friends that there's an enemy approaching? Every time he had warned other people of other threats, they had never believed him, so why should MK be any different?
I think that's one of the reasons why he didn't even try to defend himself when Pigsy snapped at him. Because he's used to taking the blame. What's the point in trying to do something right if you're going to be blamed for everything going wrong, regardless of how much you try to make it okay? He even tries to keep helping MK through his training with the astral projection throughout the whole season!
Tumblr media
So, he searched for the map that would lead him to the rings of the Samadhi Fire, knowing full well that he could end up dying.
"This wasn't supposed to happen! I thought if I could somehow get the Samadhi Fire out of you, without hurting you of course, then I could put it inside myself. Then, I don't know, use it to burn up the Lady Bone Demon or something?"
Let's remember that while it's difficult to hurt Wukong, the Samadhi Fire is one of the powers that could actually kill him. He was willing to risk his life so he'd be able to save not only the whole world, but his friends as well. Do you realize how crazy that sounds? To be willing to give up his own life to save the Earth?
He even says that he wanted try to get the ring out of Mei without hurting her.
Would someone who didn't care about anyone try to make something as painless as possible for the victim? I don't think so.
Alright, let's focus on Macaque now for a bit.
My biggest beef with this guy is that some people seem to paint him as the misunderstood character who never did anything wrong because "Oh, my best friend abandoned me and woe is me!". Yuck.
While Macaque has many good reasons to be angry at Monkey King, that still doesn't give him the right to kidnap and trick MK. It doesn't give him the right to taunt him and make him feel like shit, nor the right to manipulate him and make him think that he's not a good successor.
"Well, you know what that means! There really isn't anything special about you. You're just some kid with a heavy stick!"
Tumblr media
Macaque knew that if he hurt MK, eventually Wukong would come out to save him, because he knows that he'll protect him. This is a little theory of mine, but Macaque manipulates shadows, right? Who knows how many times he's watched MK from them? Because I don't think his plan to steal MK's powers was something he thought of in just one minute. No, I'm pretty sure that plan took a while to be thought of.
"Ah, MK. You really are dense, aren't you? You saw a story about a hero who got handed everything? Who didn't have to work for anything? And you thought you were the other guy? The second the hero got real power, he couldn't care less about his friends. That's you, bud."
Tumblr media
He tricked him into sharing his insecurities, knowing full well that MK was vulnerable and stressed out about the whole LBD situation, then blamed him for not caring about his friends. He made him doubt whether he truly cares about his friends or not or whether he was even a good person.
And we all know how hard MK's worked to try to get control of his powers, especially after he lost them when LBD took away his staff. MK can be a lot of things: optimistic, a bit smug at times, a bit forgetful... But if there's one thing I'm sure of is that he worked hard to control his powers. He even asked Wukong to limit them so he could control them better, knowing that it'd be harder but he still did it.
And let's take into account that Wukong apologized to MK for how he acted towards him. Macaque, still to this day, hasn't apologized at all. And yet, he keeps mocking Wukong and saying he's the same old Wukong, while he himself is still stuck in the past.
I get that Macaque is angry at Wukong, I really do. But if he were really so angry against him, maybe he should've brought it to Wukong himself instead of using MK. He isn't a saint. He's made mistakes as well. These two are very complicated characters who have gone through a lot, but neither of them are blameless. Macaque isn't a saint, but he does care about some people. And although Wukong has made many mistakes, that doesn't mean that he doesn't care about other people.
Anyways, to finish it off, as MK once said:
"Uh, you know you two are the same, right?"

So what if MK gets transported to a world where Wukong was never trapped under the mountain or went on a journey to the west?
During the havoc in heaven, Wukong successfully overthrew the Jade Emperor and now rules the celestial realm with an iron fist
Wukong in this universe is more bloodthirsty and doesn't hesitate to use violence or straight up murder someone
Wukong and Macaque are married in this universe since they never fully had their big fallout
Both Mac and Wukong live in FFM but Wukong has his godly ruler duties to attend so he leaves Macaque with the responsibility of ruling the mountain during his absence
MK, upon landing in this new world, accidentally bumps into Red Son at a market place and hugs him cuz he doesn't know where everyone is and is glad to see a familiar face
Of course Red Son gets hella pissed because how dare this peasant touch him like they're acquaintances
So Red Son tries to kill MK, but is shocked when MK not only evades Red Son but manages to land some blows (not hard enough to leave broken bones, but some light bruising)
"Red, please! I don't want to hurt you!"
Red Son just attacks even harder and faster
In desperation, MK summons his staff and pins Red Son to the ground. MK lifts the staff and Red thinks this is the end for him but then hears a loud crash right beside his head
"you're lucky I was holding back"
"...you were holding back?"
"Duh. Now I'm gonna get off, but you have to promise to not murder me, ok?"
Red Son nods, still in shock
But now, there are whispers of the staff that MK is holding (and it looks very identical to the staff that the Great Sage Ruler of Heaven has)
To make matters even worse, a lot of demons are now mistaking MK as Wukong's heir (due to the staff) despite never seeing or hearing about a monkey prince
Regardless, Red Son falls in love through the sheer show of power and the fact MK was holding back
Red Son has the great idea of courting this idiot so he kidnaps MK and takes him to the palace
Upon kidnapping MK, who's screaming and kicking as he's tied down with magical ropes, Red Son's parents immediately sees the very same essence and magic that Wukong has in MK
So PIF sends a letter to Wukong to inform him about his "cub"
Red Son tells his parents that he's gonna court MK
PIF: "Darling, you do realize you're already engaged?"
"You're engaged?!"
"That's besides the point. Me and the dragon girl already talked about this and it's fine between us."
"dragon gir- MEI? YOU'RE MARRIED TO MEI?"
"engaged, but I've already settled on courting you"
Both Mac and Wukong finally arrive at DBK's palace
DBK, pushing MK towards Wukong: "brother I believe we found your cub"
Swk: "...cub?"
Mac, puts a hand on MK's shoulder: "ah bud, so this is where you've been. You gave me and your baba quite the scare."
"What- baba-?"
"You see, we've been keeping our cub a secret 'cause peaches here is too paranoid. Trained him ourselves as you can tell"
PIF: "well you should've told us sooner, Mihou. We could've arranged a marriage between our children. My darling here is already smitten."
Wukong: isn't your kid already engaged?
PIF: you can't really stop love, can you? Great Sage?
Mac tries to grab for MK and drag him back to their palace but Red Son stops him by grabbing MK's other hand
"I'm courting MK. He stays with me."
"Little prince, you'll get your chance with our cub but first we need to...talk to him. It's his first time outside our territory so we're just gonna establish some rules."
Anyways, I have a lot of things planned for this au but I'm not sure how to exactly write it but let me know what y'all think!

So about mafia! SWK, I seriously cannot get it out of my mind that whilst the golden cudgel is an accessory, Wukong still uses it when shit gets real and he gets real pissed. Like,,, sure it's modern times and he uses guns since killing with them is quick, easy, and mostly clean,,,, but there are certain occasions that need a point to be made.
So imagine, Wukong falling for florist/baker! reader and they're already courting,,, somehow that information is leaked. A rival mafia, maybe one that's small enough to be disregarded/fly under his radar, or maybe one that's in alliance with him but hates his guts,, kidnaps the reader and holds her hostage to gain leverage against him.
Now, here's a reason why Sun Wukong isn't just the Monkey King, but also the king of the entire underground crime scene.
But maybe people have forgotten that fact and this little rule he has, it's been a couple centuries after all.
You don't mess with him.
And if you do, well, you're gonna wish he used his guns instead.
BFCAODBEQBELNQ SHUT UP! SHUT UP! EVERYONE SHUT THE FUCK UP! <-me yelling at the voices in my head I LOVE LITERALLY EVERY SECOND OF THIS
I absolutely LOVE violently protective bitches so this really made my brain go brrrr
CW for descriptions of violence, gore, and torture below!!
I just imagine him learning that the little baker he's been smitten with has been kidnapped by a small up and coming gang with dreams of toppling the Great Sage Equal to Heaven and taking the place of his gang. And that just won't fucking do.
It would seem that in the past hundred years that he's been mostly under the radar people have become rather bold. They seem to think that he's gone soft. That he's become weak. Well, he supposed they needed a little... reminder of just who the fuck he is.
"P—" sob "P-Please! Just l-let us go! Y-You'll never hear from us again. I swear!"
The ginger monkey demon raised a single gloved claw and the men and women beating the three demon leaders stopped and took a few steps back to allow the Dragonhead room to speak.
"Ooooohoho, you've really done it now~," Macaque chuckled from his spot in the corner without looking up from the game on his phone.
There was a moment of silence across the room as Wukong gently ran his ungloved fingers through your hair while you were passed out in his lap. By the time his gang had gotten there, you had been beaten to unconsciousness. Luckily, the damage wasn't too bad but you'd certainly have a few cuts and bruises—along with a nasty black eye—for a couple weeks.
"Humans are so... fragile," the Monkey King spoke in a soft voice while not taking his golden eyes off of your limp form for even a second. "I learned this a long long time ago. And because of this knowledge, I'm careful about which buttons to push and how hard to push them. Because like I said. Humans are very fragile. And if you push them too hard or too fast... they break."
Wukong carefully shifted so he could lift you bridal style without jostling you before carefully handing you to his adoptive son, MK. The young man immediately took you and left the room to get you somewhere safe to be healed.
The Great Sage reached into his pocket to put his other glove back on and watched as his heir left with you in tow before turning his attention back to the morons who dared cross him.
"But you wanna know something else I learned a long time ago?"
He approached the three demons. Looking down his nose at them while removing the cudgel from his earing.
"Everyone's fragile when compared to me."
With that being said, his staff grew to its normal length and slammed down onto the leg of the leader's righthand man, completely severing it at the knee. The weasel demon shrieked in agony as his companions looked on in horror.
Wukong then effortlessly lifted his staff and struck the demon in the head, instantly ending its misery. The other two flinched back as much as their current injuries would allow and the Dragonhead could see them both trying to grasp the concept that their friend was simply dead now.
The Monkey King flicked his staff to dispose of the some of the blood marring its surface and watched with malevolence as it splattered across the faces of the remaining two leaders.
Wukong then turned his attention to the Dragonhead of the small gang and merely lifted the cudgel and let it drop onto his skull, cutting off his scream and nearly splitting him in two down the middle.
The last executive was now openly ugly sobbing at the viscera of his fallen friends and Wukong just propped himself onto his staff and watched until the man calmed down enough for him to speak.
"Now," the Great Sage paused as he slowly shifted down into a crouch like a predator preparing to pounce on its prey, "You're probably wondering why you're the last one left."
Wukong pressed his cheek to the side of his staff as though this were a normal conversation as he waited for the other to quit sniveling and respond and once the tiger demon finally could he asked, "B-Because you're going to let me g-go?"
Wukong threw his head back as he let out a loud barking laugh. "Wow. You guys really didn't know who you were fucking with did you?" He menacingly leaned closer and the others in the room maliciously giggled at ignorance of the executive. "Allow me to enlighten you."
The monkey fiend flicked his wrist once more but this time to balance his staff on a single claw as though the mighty pillar weighed nothing more to him than a pencil.
"I am the Monkey King."
He spun the staff.
"I am the Great Sage Equal to Heaven."
He spun the staff again.
"I am THE Sun Wukong."
He let the staff fall into the palm of his leather clad hand.
"And I don't. Leave. Witnesses. I leave bodies."
The tiger demon whimpered as Wukong casually pointed the golden end of the cudgel at his chest and there was a tense moment of silence between them before Wukong pulled the staff back to him so he could lean on it once more as if nothing had happened.
"Guess again."
"I-I don't know! I swear I d-don't! H-He was the head of our gang, n-not me!" He nodded to the now deceased lion demon. "It was his decision to go after your girl!"
Wukong sighed and ran his free hand down his face. "You think I didn't know that? Ugh!" He sighed once more. "What did I expect from someone stupid enough to try and take me down," he asked himself before returning his focus to the tiger demon. "Fine. I'll make it easier for you and ask you one last question... Whose idea was it to go after my girl?"
The tiger demon's eye's widened as Wukong's golden one's narrowed. "N—" he gulped "No. You're... mistaken."
"Oh, really!?" A six eared grinning shadow poked out of the wall beside his head, peering down at the tiger in challenge.
"I—. I—."
"You—! You—!" Macaque mocked the shivering gangster. "You should just shut your mouth if you're gonna lie. I hear everything~."
Macaque's shadow then sunk back into the wall with a laugh and he stepped out back where had been previously, except this time without his phone, so he could watch the show that was about to unfold.
Wukong hummed in false contemplation before he once more held the staff over the tiger, but this time the tip of the iron rod hovered over the demon's leg. Right over the center of his thigh.
"Ya know... I understand that my stories aren't as widespread as they used to be. But—" he paused to chuckle "you'd think that if someone were to try coming after me! Then they'd at least read a fucking book, so they could grasp the kind of power I have at my disposal. For example!" The monkey tossed the staff a few feet in the air and letting it spin a couple times before flawlessly catching it just before it made contact with the tiger's leg, making the fiend flinch. "Did you know that this staff of mine roughly weighs a little over eight tons? Do you have any idea the kind of damage something like this would do from simply falling on you?"
He glanced to the crumpled remains of the tiger's leaders and the tiger's gaze followed.
"That's why I did that. To give you a taste of what's to come for you."
And with that, Wukong slowly let the staff slip down and watched in sickening glee as it sunk into the tiger's flesh like butter.
Holy shit this ended up way fucking longer than I meant for it to be but dats fine it just kinda took a hot minute lol

OK im still thinking about if sun wukong actually killed macaque. at first i was like... probably not, right? that seems pretty brutal for lego monkie kid and wukong doesn't really seem to act like it, like i don't recall him saying "you're supposed to be dead" when we're introduced to macaque, and idk if he's ever said anything that implies macaque has ever been deceased. So at first I was like. ok he probably didn't kill this guy there's prolly something else going on.
but then in season 4 wukong off-handedly mentions that he sent azure to the underworld himself in like the finale (i dont remember if he brought it up before then) which implies that he did actually kill Azure and that having done so wasn't so important to him that he felt the need to mention it before then. so ok. maybe he's run into macaque since macaque was revived and has already had his "but you're supposed to be dead!" moment. or maybe he's just not easy to catch off guard in that way since he knows people can be brought back from death, i guess.
HOWEVER the EXACT WORDING Wukong uses when talking to Azure is "I put you in the underworld myself, how did you get out?" which is just vague enough that he could mean that he imprisoned Azure there, but didn't like. KILL him. SO THE JURY IS STILL OUT.
an of course there's also this tweet, which seems to imply that wukong DIDN'T kill macaque
Tumblr media
but then you gotta think well, if wukong didn't do it then who tf did? *SOMEONE* had to have done *SOMETHING* because Macaque has the scars to prove he was fuckin, bludgeoned to death through the eye. unless we're supposed to believe that Wukong just scarred him and didn't actually kill him (which would be disappointing to me only because i really like the idea of a guy dying by getting a staff shoved through his eye but makes the most sense for a kids show i guess)
or maybe this tweet is only implying that Macaque wasn't actually resurrected by LBD but maybe some other force working for LBD? that would be a bit confusing but it's a possible reading, considering that Azure also isn't entirely sure who resurrected him. seems unlikely tho since LBD corroborated this part of the story herself, though I guess she could just be playing along with whoever it was that actually raised Macaque.
anyway i don't have a conclusion here other than "probably didn't kill macaque, probably just wounded him" but i did want to mention that while using google to try to find the tweet above this happened
Tumblr media
so i guess I'm googles fucking. preeminent Did Lego SWK kill Lego Macaque scholar out there. fantastic. EXCEPT. WHEN YOU CLICK ON THIS LINK? IT'S NOT ACTUALLY QUOTING MY POST. IT'S QUOTING A REPLY SOMEONE MADE TO MY POST. I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW OR WHY GOOGLE WOULD DO THIS? WHAT IS THE AI BEHIND THE SCREENS UP TO THAT IT'S SCOURING THE REPLIES OF A TUMBLR POST AFJSDILFMDSGKASMGD
oh but also when i added "tweet" a the end to try to find the sceenshot in images, this happened.
Tumblr media
also the post referenced there is good. i like it. it does less rambling and wishy washy ranting than mine and we basically came to the same conclusions, except they have better photos to prove it sfdfdsf. idk when google started pulling tumblr blogs as sources but i guess we're the only ones talking about damn show.
anyway thank you for coming to my post where i overthink stuff and screenshot google results instead of doing my work

Alright, I gotta lotta thoughts on s4, but this is the main thing I'm not particularly happy with.
It's not very organized, I'm writing as I'm thinking so I apologize beforehand.
Spoilers obvi.
I really don't appreciate how Sun Wukong's character has been treated up until this point.
Look, I don't mind the "perfect, heroic mentor is actually not always so perfect and heroic and made mistakes that are still effecting the world now" like fine. Fine. But the way the show goes about it makes SWK look like a worse and worse person. It crosses the line of him making mistakes, to just being generally careless and not learning.
I mean: leaving Xiaotian in s2 and inadvertently neglecting him in the process, keeping the 4th ring a secret in s3 until it's too late, being the reason there was a fourth ring to begin with, the whole Macaque thing that the show seems to be leaning more towards SWK being in the wrong for, and his whole deal with his sworn brothers in s4.
It was already irritating in season 3, especially when he's shown to get yelled at by Xiaotian & Zhu Dachu then continues his usual way, often being unhelpful. I get that Xiaotian is the mc, but like c'mon. SWK is depowered, there are like a million ways to sideline him without doing that.
Season 4 is especially egregious as someone who's read jttw because the Lion, Elephant, and Peng are all terrible villains who spent a good amount of their time eating innocent people. I'm not sure why the show especially seems to be insistent on making the Azure Lion sympathetic and one that feels bad for trapping SWK...then again Macaque exists. You know what no, I don't see why they are insistent on doing that when Macaque exists. He may be one too many times, but once was enough.
Jttw aside, if in Azure Lion's point of view SWK willingly betrayed them and all the "good" they stood for, then trapped his other brothers for thousands of years, and before that was happy to join heaven's courts for like 20-30 years, then I don't know why he'd ever show that level of concern for him. If that happened to me, it would be monkey season, straight up.
(also the fact that he said he'd let SWK go when they completed what they wanted to, I call absolute bullshit. Even if he did feel bad, releasing SWK at any point in time would be a god awful idea)
From what s4 has shown, I think what the show writers wanted to do was build a parallel between Xiaotian and SWK, both having made mistakes that endangered the world and their loved ones as well as Xiaotian learning that his hero is just as human (for lack of a better term) as him. But the execution is lacking as a lot of Xiaotian's mistakes are not really his fault.
DBK taking his staff? It's not like he handed it to him.
Spider Queen using his hair? Is he supposed to stop shedding?
Red Son getting the skeleton key? Again, it's not as if he handed it to him. Also, wouldn't that make it the Bull family's fault, since they opened the coffin?
It wasn't him being careless it was him losing 2 fights and a bit of his hair. Whereas with SWK, it's implied these things happened because he didn't think about the consequences of his actions. They don't really seem comparable.
Also, if you've read jttw (and even if you haven't, but I think the context makes it worse), then lmk SWK is a very miserable character right off the bat. As we can see, he never became a Buddha, his friends are heavily implied to be dead, there are no monkey yaoguai on the mountain, or even a nation anymore, implying that his subjects left, died, or both, and in the midst of all of this he has no support system. Nor does he ever seem to obtain one in the show.
And I think some of these issues could be remedied if he was given the opportunity to tell his side of the story. Everything wrong he does is seen told through the perspective of another person. Not to say they shouldn't be upset, but the fact that SWK just absorbs whatever blame is put on him, never really giving any fair defense doesn't sit right with me. It wouldn't change any of the things he's done, but it would make him a lot more understandable as a character, instead of him consistently being some form of a fuck up.

Hi there! So, I don't know if you’re in the mood to have your brain chemistry altered by the silly little lego show once more, or if you’ve just already done this, but I have a suggestion. Try watching the S4 special (specifically A Lifetime of Mistakes) for the millionth time, and then take that knowledge, along with the Wukong-Macaque/MK-Mei Hero and Warrior parallels we’ve been getting, and THEN go rewatch S1E6 AKA The Great Wall Race. Specifically through that particular lens.
And just… enjoy watching the decisions they, especially MK, make during a situation where an immortality-granting object is on the line. Have no major thoughts about how this is the first real fight we see Mei and MK have. Experience absolutely zero strong emotions as you watch MK’s pursuit of that object lead to him destroying things that both of them love. Just… have a lovely, peaceful rewatch.
But seriously, if you’re in the mood to let the silly little monkey show do its silly little monkey show thing, try rewatching that episode because it legitimately ruined my night.
Like… it’s not a perfect, one-to-one comparison. There’s a lot of differences, both nuanced and obvious, that differentiate the two situations.
But there’s something there and it’s been driving me insane, so feel free to come join me on the precipice of madness if you want.
*GRABS YOU*
I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THIS FOR DAYS. ANON, YOU GET ME IN A WAY THAT NO ONE ELSE DOES, WE ARE TOGETHER IN ARMS.
But anyways *puts on sunglasses* I always have zero emotions when it comes to the lego show. Me? Completely calm and collected. I totally didn't have a breakdown while rewatching 1x06 to write this post.
But, just to meander on by the precipice of madness...
Tumblr media
Mei: "*gasp* My bike! What is wrong with you! I thought you were my friend!" MK: "Okay! I did bad! I just- I really wanted that peach and I guess I got carried away! You know how much I love stone fruit. *sigh* I was never gonna win though—you're the racer, not me. I'm sorry." Mei: "Yeah I know—just, don't be dumb next time, okay?" MK: "All I can do is try!"
(1x06 The Great Wall Race)
-
Even without the added context of s4, it's easy to put together that the whole reason MK wants the peach to begin with is to become more like Monkey King. Case in point, 1x09:
Tumblr media
MK: "I just wanted to be good enough..."
Tumblr media
"...like you."
(1x09 Macaque)
-
MK in seasons 1-2 is pushed by his motivation to live up to Monkey King's legacy—to become stronger. He wants to have the power to protect and help his friends, but this often causes more trouble than it fixes (1x01, 1x02, 1x06, 1x09, 2x03, 2x06, 2x10).
And so, MK reaching for immortality and wanting to be "good enough", instead harming the relationships he's trying to help?
Macaque: "No that's YOU! You're the one always running off! Looking for more power, more sources of immortality—you're the one who wouldn't quit while were were ahead! Not the great sage, he's got to drag EVERYONE else into his mess!"
-
MK: "Why didn't he just stop, right here? He was already so much stronger than anyone ever needed to be!" Macaque: "Wukong didn't think so. He always felt he had to be stronger—more immortal."
-
Sun Wukong: "I just wanted to protect the people I cared about—to be strong enough. I lost sight of why I was doing any of it."
-
It's like history is repeating itself.
Which, this all obviously has a strong connection to 1x06, but it also is a strong connection to 2x06:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MK: "It means I need to be stronger! Be so powerful, that it'd be certain defeat to fight me!" Sandy: "Maybe you need a break little man, just kick back for a bit." MK: "Uh, did Monkey King ever take breaks?"
(2x06 Game On)
-
Which,
Tumblr media
Sun Wukong: "Daw, don't be like that! Eat some fruit, soak up the sun—that's why I've been training so hard! Macaque: "What, so you can be the strongest?" Sun Wukong: "No! Well...maybe a little bit—but that's not the point! It's so that we don't have to worry about anything or anyone ever again! Just live a lazy life sittin' in the sun and eatin' fruit, and doing whatever we want!"
(4x11 A Lifetime of Mistakes)
-
Did Monkey King ever take breaks?—well, he did. It's here we start to see both the similarities and the differences between SWK and MK. AND IT DRIVES ME INSANE. They both reach after power in paranoia. They both try to protect the people they care about (and sometimes they do that through lying/leaving). They both want things to stay the same. Yet, SWK is arrogant where MK is self conscious. SWK goes off alone where MK tries to do it together. SWK can't plan for shit where MK is the designated plan man.
Sun Wukong VS MK and Monkey King VS Monkey Kid. How are they similar and how are they different?
And then if you throw Wukong-Macaque/MK-Mei Hero and Warrior parallels into all of it?
Peng: "The six-eared Macaque fighting side by side with his own replacements! Is there anything Wukong could do that would break his hold over you?" (4x13 Rip and Tear)
Is there anything MK could do that would turn Mei against him? I feel that it's SO telling that Mei wasn't included in this conversation:
Yellow Tusk: "I know full well what would happen should Azure fail. But- but he is my brother. I owe him my life." Sandy: "We get it! I'd do anything to help my friends. But at the cost of the world?" Pigsy: "I'm sorry pal, but NOTHING worth that price!"
(4x14 Better Than We Found It)
-
And here's why Mei is going to be the one to calm MK down like MK calmed her down during 3x10—

“Same old Wukong.” Just that, nothing else attached. How do you think he’d feel about it 🤔 so many centuries have passed, is it a comfort that you haven’t lost yourself, become unrecognizable, some of that time you’re nostalgic for remains in you, or is it agony that it has remained within you, alone all this time as well, and…haven’t you changed? That was meant to be a good thing. Or any other views you may have to offer on this, Fluffy? I also came across a new Wukong angst to haunt this monkey in that he never checked in with his friends families through the years. He couldn’t. I imagine living for centuries and protecting generation after generation with the world passing you by, yet you remain gets exhausting when you can stay alone on a mountain instead. I wonder if Wukong could bear to visit his old companions in their old age. Thinking also of how they always fought together, Wukong in his little boy scout scarf get up and then they died. And it was just him, putting on his legendary battle armor and putting up radiant smiles because what was he but someone meant to be a hero, always? While hurting, tired, and lonely inside. Alive, not just a living myth meant to do living myth things for the world to receive their stories. It’s this part in the series when he mentions having to fight so many demons that Macky’s image also shows up (in the pilot ep) so I think it’d be super funny if the writers revealed there wasn’t a single connection to Jttw here. No anger at the monk, no impersonations, not for any special reasons. They probably died already when Macky found Wukong again but that would mean he left Wukong alone for so long :’) I can’t accept that so, but it kinda, well he did say “someone who was there for some of it” to MK. Which is WEIRD. Because ShadowPeach’s promise and fight was NOT or shouldn’t be at least, written in JTTW. And the parts that were, Macky wasn’t there for, either at ALL (like the entire journey) but he could have heard about. (Like the training with Subhodi.) I also realized that the scroll showing Camel Ridge along the way despite it not being a sentimental memory was because Wukong probably felt guilt about the way it was built. All that stuff Azure said before on doing good and draining life to build it? And yet Wukong still felt bad for putting them away. Afterall, he’s experienced people thinking the worst of you himself and their punishments when you’re more than that. Thinking also lol, what if the whole “Macky read the book” thing is a reference to the fact 6EM “read” aka “own personal audiobook-ed” the journey with those ears to impersonate better and answer the questions only Wukong would know XD
[…] is it a comfort that you haven’t lost yourself, become unrecognizable, some of that time you’re nostalgic for remains in you, or is it agony that it has remained within you, alone all this time as well, and…haven’t you changed?
i feel like Macky resented the fact that Wukong “hadn’t changed” in s3 because all it does is confirm, to him, that Wukong never learned anything about his mistakes
but then we get to end of s4 and s5, and there’s an acknowledgment of that. Wukong hasn’t changed in the core parts thag matter and that’s good. he has changed many things and matured but the most individual part of himself is still there and Macky is relieved. (a little annoyed in ep1 bc him and MK have been avoiding the monkey MK conversation)
Because ShadowPeach’s promise and fight was NOT or shouldn’t be at least, written in JTTW.
well, i mean, nothing about their relationship in lmk is at all accurate to jttw. and i do think that Mac is written in them in lmk but he might be unnamed. maybe Wukong was the only one who knew him during that fight and no one else knew enough to name him?
idk it’s a reach theory rn but one i think about often

He’s Mine- Ch 2- Shadow’s Prize
FYI this is crossposted on AO3 and as such i’ll be leaving out the more ‘spicy’ parts on the Tumblr version so some chapters might be shorted on Tumblr because i had to cut out some of the lemon and spice.
Anyway please give a hand or limb to my partner in crime as we give this Sun and Moon pair a twisted wonderland of love!
@Sanityisinthemusic
_————_
Returning to consciousness was a grueling experience as they fought against the pain coursing through their body, forcing their eyes to open. They were laid out on a large and soft bed with thick bandages around their bare chest while some sort of splint was around their left leg. On their right leg was a glowing purple shackle and chain firmly attached to the foot of the large bed. ‘Crap…’ they mentally cursed, raising a hand to the black choker around their throat and feeling an embossing of a crescent moon with a familiar name ‘Liuer Mihou’ along the enchanted material. “…fuck…” the golden furred being cursed.
A dark-coated humanoid male monkey perked up with a wide smirk as he quietly closed the book he had been reading while keeping an eye on the other. He was sitting comfortably in a plush armchair in the corner of the room. "Nice to see you're finally awake Wukong." He stood from his spot and approached the golden monkey, placing the book on the nightstand by the bed, next to a cup of water and a little bowl of fruit he'd brought in while the king was sleeping. "How ya feeling bud? You were in pretty bad shape when I got to you two. Had to be if those thugs were causing you enough trouble to finally get in touch." The words were as curious as they were mocking as he watched the other.
The golden monkey, Wukong, gave a rather weak glare in return. “I didn't have much of a choice while being chased for over a month all over the city with guns. Bad enough with this damn collar restricting everything.” Wukong replied the words flowing without much of a filter with the collar around his throat humming with a strong compulsion to give answers to its ‘Master’.
The black monkey chuckled. "I don't know, I kind of like it. It suits you." He purred, reaching down to finger the collar, pulling it ever so slightly. He particularly liked the label that he'd noticed had appeared on it while he was cleaning the other up. He never had thought he'd see him wear anything with his name on it, but he was enjoying the sight. "What is it anyway? How'd they even get it on you? Oh wait, they used the kid right?"
Wukong pulled away. “It's an enslavement collar. The group that cornered us invoked an old arcane demon law the ‘Right of Mating Conquest’ in other words a ‘Demon Mate Hunt’. The collar is meant to mark the being that the law has been activated on and reduce any powers they have to nearly ten percent before shocking them with divine energy if they go over the ‘allowance’. The name and crest of the demon that manages to ‘capture’ the one the demon law has marked appears on the collar in response. The collar can't be removed until after a century or an heir is produced.” Wukong rattled off wincing as he tried to stop but the collar simply hummed and pulsed pulling more words out to the questions the dark monkey had asked. “The second aspect was that if the one marked has already claimed an heir be it by blood or by magic then the heir is reduced in age until they are young enough to imprint on a new ‘parent’.”
"Huh. So that's why the kid shrunk." He muttered, a smile falling away as he took all of that in. Wukong was his mate. He was bound to him for a century. And he was so incredibly, tantalizingly weak right now. His tail flicked behind him as he drew his head back. "Also explains why you haven't already broken your restraint." He glances down at the shackle that had, much to his surprise, not been broken the moment the other awoke. Thinking about it, that also explained why he wasn't healing the way he usually would. He couldn't stop himself from grinning if he tried as he sat next to the king who was his mate now apparently. "Thousands of years of life, and you finally got caught up in something like this. It's kind of hard to believe. And to think, you'd choose to let me be your mate. I'm honored." He reached out and poked the sage in the nose, just to annoy him a little bit more. This was all way too much for Mihou.
The poke did much more than just annoy the golden monkey as slivers of golden cracks spread making the golden monkey’s eyes shrink. ‘The glamors!’ He thought in shock as the thick illusions shattered like glass. Crystallized red sclera with molten gold irises was revealed first while just above the demonic eyes was a familiar golden crown battered with age while snuggly set in a notable dent along his head. He knew his body was littered with scars both from battle and with missing patches of fur from either being skinned off or burned to a degree that fur refused to grow there for a couple of decades. He also knew that his actual fur was rather matted and hadn't been given proper grooming in centuries given how he always wore clothes that covered all of his body just in case he was in battle and had to save power by dropping sections of his glamor.
Mihou froze, eyes wide as he took in what happened. The injuries and that collar were taking more out of Wukong than he thought. He hadn't seen him unarmored in... how long had it even been? Probably since the mountain. His eyes slowly roved over the monkey, taking in the spots he could see. The matting was new, but it's not like he would be much better if he dropped his glamor, with no good way to groom the hard-to-reach spots with nobody around to help. He wondered briefly how the mountain monkeys had let him get this bad but focused back on his ‘mate’. Those eyes, he remembered them. Unlike his former golden, unburned eyes, those red eyes only seemed to know how to glare at him. Until today, at least. He honestly kind of liked them when they weren't trying to burn a hole through his skull, but he'd never tell Wukong that. Those weren't the things that grabbed his attention though. A sharp laugh ripped its way out of him, sounding nearly hysterical as he wrapped his arms around his stomach. "They- they left that- they left that damn thing on?" He gasped for breath through the laughter, fighting it back so he could talk. "You've got to be fucking kidding me! After all of that," the laughter died down, but the disbelieving smile stayed in place, "after you broke off nearly every connection you had, after you killed me, after everything you did, they left that damn crown on you!" He shook his head, still grinning. "What a waste. You really should've just let me kill the stupid monk and been done with the whole thing."
“It wasn't my choice! Heaven deemed it necessary after I killed you the Celestial Monkey of Wind and my direct elemental opposite.” Wukong snapped back before the collar caused his throat to lock up with an intense shock of lightning like every arcing through his body coupled with the golden crown around his head giving a squeeze in response to the divine energy coursing through it and causing it to activate.
Mihou blinked, brows furrowing in confusion for a moment. He frowned when he noticed the crown activate. He couldn't stand that thing. Heaven using his death as an excuse to leave it on his head was appalling. "I didn't want that left on you in the first place Wukong. Don't go snapping at me because the Jade Emperor used me as an excuse. "
The ‘order’ caused the collar to glow around Wukong's throat as the next words were forced out by the collar. “Yes, Master Macaque."
Macaque's eyes grew round, mouth hanging open as he stared at the other. "I might hate the circlet but I think I like that collar more by the minute," he muttered.
Wukong glared at the black monkey before tearing his eyes away, looking around for Mk. Now rendered mute he couldn't speak at all unless it was to Macaque’s direct questions or orders. ‘Gods I hate this thing!’ Wukong mentally thought to himself half wondering if Macaque was going to abuse the power the collar now gave him.
Macaque grinned again, surprised but amused at the lack of response. He wondered if that was a thing with the collar too. He placed one of his elbows on his knee, bent under him on the bed to better face the king, so he could rest his head in one hand. "Whatcha looking for Peaches?"
The collar glowed as Wukong ‘answered’ the question. “I'm looking for Qi Xiaotain, Master.”
"Gods that's funny, but I don't know how much I like the constant subservient thing. You can just talk Wukong." He said, still grinning. It was so fun and he could probably just make him go back to this any time he wanted, but there was no fun in the Monkey King not being able to respond to his jabs at all. "And Qi Xiaotian is fine." He held out his arms and a shadow portal appeared above them. Out popped a tiny little boy in orange pjs (that he'd just stolen through a shadow portal from somewhere but Wukong didn't need to know that) with a red ribbon tied around his forehead. He caught the child, dozing at the moment just like he'd been when he last checked on him. "See? He's fine."
Wukong rolled his head as the collar ‘unlocked’ his voice as he plucked the sleeping child from Macaque’s arms, a rumbling monkey purr of contentment came from his chest at seeing Mk wasn't harmed at all and was instantly snuggling into Wukong. A sleepy baby monkey chirp escaped the child, making Wukong almost freeze in fear. ‘Crap! Macaque doesn't know about that!’ He remembered how protective Macaque was over Cubs back in their younger years, far more when Wukong was near them or directly taking care of an orphaned cub.
Macaque did not attempt to stop Wukong from taking the kid, their kid now apparently, away from him. He liked that thought. And then he heard it. His smile froze, eyes widening slightly as seemed to focus in on the little boy in Wukong's arms. "Wukong. Wukong did Xiaotian just...?" He looked back up into the other's eyes. That... changed some things.
“He gave a chirp. He’s been around the mountain for nearly two years he was going to pick up things from the troop.” Wukong replied not exactly lying even though he knew the truth about why Mk chirped like a baby monkey.
Macaque eyed the other, frowning. His eyes drifted back to the tiny Xiaotian, humming. "Chirp to him," he ordered.
Wukong gave a chirp in accordance to the order instantly getting a sleepy response from Mk that seemed to rouse the child from his dozed state.
"You're such a liar." He leaned forward, gently running his claws through Xiaotian's hair- no, he supposed it was fur on top of his head, very lightly scratching. "Is this a result of him being the heir, or was he always a monkey cub?"
“He was always a Cub as Nuwa designed… a stone monkey without flaws,” Wukong answered while mentally cursing out the collar around his throat.
His tail flicked behind him in interest, eyes staying on the little one clinging so happily to his former mentor-turned-parent. "Did he even know that, or did you forget to mention it like you do most things?"
“Nuwa did not want him growing under my care after he hatched nor did she want him knowing he wasn't even human. I sealed away his power and took him to the place Nuwa told me he was to be raised until the day he took up my staff and broke the seal.” Wukong responded to the inquiry as the truth came out.
"Guess Nuwa's plan didn't quite work out the way she'd hoped." He pulled his hand back from the cub, looking up at Wukong. "It's no wonder he was able to adapt so well to your powers." This also explained why taking what he had been fairly sure were Wukong's powers had done him no good. "Looks like you'll be raising him after all. Looking forward to it?" He smiled now, in what could be seen as a soft way. His tail waved behind him, the only true hint of the seeming excitement he felt over this new information.
“Yes.” Wukong softly responded as he looked down at the child in his arms who finally woke up looking about with wonder before looking up at Wukong.
“Mama!” the child grinned, Wukong’s eyes went wide in response with a scarlet blush on his cheeks.
‘I have enough of that from the orphaned cubs! Now my cub is calling me mama?!?’
Macaque chuckled fondly. "You always did get pinned as the maternal type with the cubs, huh? Not that surprising when you dote on them so much."
The child turned his head to the dark monkey tilting his head curiously before he spoke with just as happy a tone as he had with Wukong. “Baba!"
The smile only grew on Macaque's face as he plucked the child from his King's arms, grinning. "Hey there bud. Have a nice nap?" He asked, holding the child to his chest now, one arm supporting him and the other hand pressing against his back. His tail curled around the child possessively.
The child nodded, snuggling his face into Macaque’s chest imprinting upon Macaque’s scent and heartbeat. Mk gave a little chirp to Macaque, one that called for a cub’s parents.
Macaque immediately chirped back, soothing and assuring the cub that he was here, and all was safe. His tail tip twitched back and forth, enjoying this moment more than he ever would have even thought possible. He dropped the glamor over his ears, letting himself hear the little one's heartbeat as he gently rocked back and forth.
“Pretty,” Mk commented on the softly glowing lotus petal ears with wonder in his eyes.
Macaque paused briefly, before tilting his head slightly and making his ears twitch. "Thanks."
Mk giggled while Wukong just watched the entire interaction with dread in his stomach. ‘How am I supposed to get away with Mk now that Macaque has gotten attached?! Damn it! What am I going to do once Macaque starts showing his twisted nature from the Diyu?’ Wukong mentally worried for Mk’s safety and the young one’s now impressionable mind as he felt the seal on the child keeping his form human getting chipped away by Macaque’s power overruling the old seal.
A soft glow of golden light grew over the boy making Mk sneeze causing dark chocolate brown fur to spread along the child’s body with twin tails swaying behind the child the left dipped in gold and the right dipped in a dark purple while a pale red flame mask decorated Mk’s little face with peach colored dots under his eyes mimicking freckles while fluttering on the sides of his head were six cute lotus ears that started a bright gold before fading to a deep purple with specks of white looking like the between sunset and moon rise with the first stars of the night. His eyes had also changed to both irises were a mixed shade of gold but his left sclera was a light red while the right sclera was a rich purple.
Macaque's eyes widened for a moment before a loud, deep purr caused his chest to rumble under the child. He lowered his head and nuzzled his nose into his little cub, closing his eyes for a moment as the pleasure of everything took over, breathing in the smells of peaches and rain, a wonderful combination of their unique scents. He opened his eyes and glanced at Wukong through his laches, paying little attention to the frown on the other's face. "He even looks like our cub, Gem," he whispered. "He's so beautiful."
“That's not how he looked when he was hatched…” Wukong softly muttered as Mk rubbed against the nose giggling at the affection as his twin tails coiled around Macaque’s arm like a typical young monkey’s tail would.
Macaque chuckled again at his cub's antics. "Oh, and what did he look like before?" He asked, pressing a kiss to his and Wukong's little one's head.
“Light brown fur, a single tail, a pair of monkey ears, and a very light heart-shaped pink mask…” Wukong trailed off in contemplation. “Could his core have changed…?” Wukong mused knowing he didn't exactly have the spare power to check at the moment.
"It's possible I suppose. Maybe it's a reaction to the collar's magic?" He mused aloud, lifting his head from the squirming cub, unable to stop himself from focusing on those wonderful six ears of his. "A response to my victory and you becoming my mate?" He shifted the hand on his child's back up to his shoulders and used his thumb to ever so gently pet one set of those delicate ears.
Mk instantly seemed to go boneless as his ears were petted giving purrs and chirps of bliss leaning into the hand for more.
His tail tip flicked again, before drifting from where it had been around the little one safe in his arms and bumping Wukong's tail. He slid the tail underneath the tail of the golden monkey and wrapped his tail around the other's as he continued to pet the little one's ears, knowing from experience exactly how to treat such delicate appendages.
Wukong suppressed a flinch at the contact as well as forcing his tail to stay still. He did not want to make Macaque upset with him nor did he want to find out exactly what Macaque would do if Wukong did something the shadow monkey did not like at all. ‘Typical demons punish those that anger or disappoint them. I rather not find out how extreme that would turn out to be with Macaque.’ Wukong thought in mild fear.
Mihou hummed. He couldn't help the satisfaction of seeing his King submit to his loyal warrior. He glanced at the nightstand before looking back at the other. "How painful is moving right now?"
“A five on a ten scale,” Wukong replied.
"Got enough strength to hold a glass of water or sit up?" Mihou asked next.
“I can hold a Cub. A glass of water should be fine.” Wukogn replied as he forced himself to sit up before reaching over for the glass of water, easily holding it in his grip and bringing it to his lips to down in a few gulps.
"Then the glass of water on the nightstand is yours." He nodded toward the nightstand, not quite up to even taking a hand off of the cub despite knowing that the child probably had a good enough grip by now to stay where he was if he let his free hand. "So is the big bowl of fruit. There's a peach or two in there I think, I just grabbed some at random."
“Not very hungry,” Wukong replied. Having forgone the effort to eat in case of any drugs in any of his food for the past month he didn't feel safe enough just yet to eat he did make sure to feed Mk though even if it had been a very embarrassing thing he had to do.
He hummed. "You need to make sure to take care of yourself for the cub. You sure you don't want it?" Macaque raised an eyebrow at the other.
The collar glowed softly along his throat. “I am hungry but I don't feel safe enough to eat.” the words were pulled from Wukong’s throat.
Mihou hummed at that. He should probably be offended, but he can't blame his King for being uncomfortable after all he'd had to go through in this last month. And the pathetic lowlives that must have been desperate enough to use the kid against him to get that collar on him? The bastards he'd slaughtered for daring to try to touch his sunshine? He could see them resorting to all sorts of nasty tricks to win that little game of cat and mouse they were playing with the great sage. The reminder of that annoyed him greatly, that anyone would dare touch his king . He looked down at the little one again and stopped petting his ear, smiling down at the pout that earned him. "Xiaotian, you want to go back to Mama? Baba needs to do something," he told the little one.
“Okay! Hungry Mama!” Mk cheerfully stated as he was handed over to Wukong who gave a faint blush looking away from Macaque as the cub began to breastfeed from the golden monkey a trait the golden monkey was a bit embarrassed about along with the fact of his duel gender most didn't even know about.
Macaque chuckled. "Nothing new to me peaches. It's nice to see you getting in touch with your feminine side." His tail swayed in amusement as it released the other's lighter tail. Scooting forward, Macaque grabbed the bowl of fruit. He set it securely in his lap and pulled out the peach that was sitting near the top of the little pile. Holding out one hand, shadows gathered and condensed, shifting and solidifying into a wickedly sharp blade. He sliced out a wedge. Letting the knife disappear, he gently pried the soft fruit away from the stone hidden beneath. He showed this to Wukong before taking a small bite of the wedge, going through the process of chewing and swallowing it before he leaned forward. He placed the peach in front of the other's lips. "There, see, it's safe. Eat."
Wukong didn't have much of a choice as he bit into the peach held against his lips. He was being hand-fed while Mk watched them as the cub ‘ate’ his meal.
"Good boy. That wasn't too hard was it." Mihou's tail flicked behind him in amusement as he smirked at the king. "I'm going to take good care of you two, so you've got to let me, okay? And that includes needing to eat so you can heal up."
Wukong only nodded once in understanding. ‘I forgot how sharp Macaque could create his shadows when he wanted to go ‘hunting’.’ Wukong thought. He was very much aware that Macaque had trained as an assassin before he became Wukong’s Shadow General and his closest adviser until the fallout with Heaven.
"Good." Mihou continued feeding the king slices of peach, having him finish the entire thing before he stopped, dropping the pit through a shadow portal. He sat back, leaning on his hands after putting the bowl back on the nightstand. 'I wonder if I'll ever get bored of any of this. Not likely.' The King was bound to him now, and they had a cub. He doubted Wukong would stay this submissive once he was healed, but he was looking forward to that. "So, what are the limitations of that collar? Do you know that? I have a hard time believing it can restrain someone as stubborn as you that thoroughly. Not at full health surely?"
“There aren't any. This collar was made specifically for powerful demons. Even at the start of all this when I was completely fine the moment this collar appeared my power was cut into and diverted to power the collar’s enchantments while leaving a ten percent ‘allowance’ for daily use. I’m not even sure if there are limitations and if there are they were never leaked by any that had been under its influence.” Wukong replied with a grimace as Mk snuggled into his side sleeping off his ‘meal’.
"If it's feeding off of your magic, it's indestructible," Macaque mused. He leaned forward and placed his hand on the side of Wukong's neck, running his thumb over the engraving on his name. "I doubt there's anyone in the three realms that could remove it." He smiled again, tail swaying happily behind him as he said that. "Man, talk about a role reversal."
Wukong lightly shuttered under the touch. ‘Damn, my touch-starved body…’ Mihou paused briefly, watching the other's face contemplatively. He was tense, but he'd been tense the entire time. He didn't notice any signs of fear. That smile came back to his face as the other possibility crossed his mind.
"Oh wow, someone's sensitive." He chuckled, raising the hand experimentally to rub lightly against his cheek. “And here I thought by this point the kid would have gotten you pretty used to physical affection." He glanced briefly toward the dozing cub before looking back into those gold and scarlet eyes.
Wukong couldn't help it as his eyes slipped closed and he nuzzled into the hand, his tail lightly wagging at the contact. He might have been used to the kid touching him and his monkeys but that was as far as he aloud other than in battle and even then he was high on adrenaline to focus on how touch-starved he was.
Macaque smirked. He was sensitive. He couldn't believe he'd missed this, but they'd barely had a chance to touch at all outside of combat. He wasn't any better if he were, to be honest, he might be worse. But Wukong didn't need to know that. "My poor king must have been so neglected in my absence." He purred lowly, shifting his body and allowing himself to sit closer to the king. He knelt on the bed, before twisting and letting himself half lay next to his king, wrapping his tail around his leg and nuzzling the king's shoulder before rubbing his cheek against the other, spreading his scent onto the king. "We'll have to work on that, won't we?" Macaque let his arm wrap around Wukong's waist, rubbing his side gently as his other hand carded through the fur on the yellow monkey's head.
Wukong couldn't help the low purrs that escaped him as he was physically soothed into melting into the other’s warmth and touch while true sleep tugged at his mind reminding him he hadn't slept in over five days.
Mihou's tail wrapped around the other's again, purring back at the king as he continued to nuzzle him, encouraging him to relax more into his warrior's hold.
Soon enough Wukong nodded off using Macaque’s shoulder as a pillow as he slept with deep and steady breaths completely relaxed into the other’s touch like clay.
Mihou looked down at the sleeping pair, fingers still buried deeply in Wukong's fur. His eyes lingered on the baby monkey snoozing soundly against Wukong's other side. He'd move the child between them if he wasn't worried about disturbing the two. He'd protect them. Wukong was going to be practically defenseless for a long time now, and who knew when Xiaotian would start growing or even maybe being able to fight? There was some time before that would be possible. So he'd protect them, keep them under his watchful eye, and never let anyone harm them again. Without anywhere to go without disturbing the king, he closed his eyes and purred contentedly, knowing that his king and his son would be safely next to him when he awoke, exactly should always be.

Here's a challenge: platonic x reader who hates monkeys with a passion (you could do it with phobia or irrational hatred). With Wukong, Macaque, and Mk.
Tumblr media
Pithecophobia
Yandere MK, Sun Wukong, Macaque
(Fun fact 1- prunes are not their own fruit! They’re just dried plums.)
“I’m just saying,” he starts with a scoff, “it’s really silly that you’re expecting me to play along with this. Especially when I don’t get anything out of it.”
MK turns around to face the demon monkey, frowning. He folds his arms and walks backwards to keep eye contact, hoping that his mentor would watch his steps for him.
“Uh, you are getting something out of it, though? Y/N spent all day cooking for us so we could celebrate the new year together! They even made extra in case we wanted to bring someone else! That’s like… super nice of them!”
“Oh, I might get some maybe decent food, is that it? And all I’ve got to do is pretend to be a powerless mortal all the way through a probably mediocre dinner, huh? Just because this weird friend of yours is scared of monkeys?”
Sun Wukong; who had eyeing the sky for early fireworks more than he had been looking out for his student’s safety, finally chimed in. “To be fair, I think that mug of yours would scare anyone away!” A second later, he ducks down to avoid Macaque’s incoming tail, leaving MK to take the brunt of the relatively harmless blow.
MK stumbles backwards and almost into the street, only stopped when his mentor’s tail wraps around his waist and pulls him back onto the sidewalk. “Whoa,” the Great Sage mocks, setting MK safely back down, “someone’s in a bad mood today! Maybe… you’re just mad cause no one except us wanted you over for the new year?”
Macaque snarls and lunges at Wukong, ready to brawl. It’s only when MK swiftly moves to stand between them that the near fight is averted. “Guys, come on! Can’t you get along for just one day?!”
The “NO!” that they shout in perfect unison is just about what he was expecting, but he’s still a little disappointed about it. They both try to move past him to grab at one another, barely impeded by his physical position.
A thunderous bang echoes across the sky, a brilliant bloom of sparkling red painting the blue horizon. Macaque hisses and recoils, his arms quaking as he moves to clap his hands over his ears. At the exact same time, Wukong jumps up in delight, cheering and hollering at the sight. MK takes his chance to separate them, hooking his arm around Macaque’s, pulling the pained monkey demon along much quicker than he was moving before.
“Come on, come on! The food is gonna get cold if you two don’t hurry up! And! Y/N told me that there’s something special just for the two of you! Cause, y’know… when I asked if I could invite you both, they asked me what sort of stuff you liked, and I told ‘em about the whole ‘peaches and plums’ thing…”
Bringing up food seems to have been a decent enough distraction, as both of them choose to start moving along instead of fighting. Your house is already on the horizon. Now he just has to hope that another fight doesn’t break out between the rival demons.
As usual, life dashes his hopes of peace being anything more than a temporary lull.
“Yeah? Like how peaches are just about the best thing ever? And how everyone that isn’t crazy likes ‘em one way or another?”
“About how sweet-toothed meatheads can’t help but shovel them down whole? Those sort of people don’t have the brain to enjoy plums. Peaches are just sweet. Plums have a subtle astringent skin that mixes well with the flesh’s mellow sweetness.”
“Sure thing, old man. Go home and eat your prunes if ya like ‘em so much.”
“They are NOT-“
“Guys! We’re here!” Before they can argue any further, MK releases Macaque’s arm and rushes up to the door of your house. “Hurry up and come inside!”
He takes a moment to consider knocking, then grabs the doorknob and impatiently starts rattling it instead. To his delight, it’s already unlocked. A quick glance over his shoulder shows that both of his companions remain in their transformed state, tails safely tucked into their clothing.
He throws the door open and races inside, leaving the monkeys in the dust.
Just barely remembering to take off his shoes before he tears through the halls of your house without hesitation, he throws them aside near the door in a still-tied heap.
He follows a practiced path straight into the kitchen, finding you just as you remove a plate of pork-stuffed spring rolls from the oven. You set them down on the countertop to cool, then turn to face the very-expected intruder. You might’ve been surprised, if it wasn’t for his excited footsteps echoing through the house.
MK runs into your arms before you can even pull the oven mitts off, wrapping you up in a warm hug. For just a moment, it gives you the same feeling as coming home after a long day, cozy and inviting.
Then, his grip grows tight.
“I missed you,” he says, his voice quiet and low. “Invite me over more often. Or come to Pigsy’s and visit me, at least. Please.”
His grip tightens further.
And then he lets go of you, turning to face his two companions, neither of which you recognize. He waves them into the kitchen and moves to set the table.
Politely, you offer the first one your hand. He’s decked out in shining gold and exuberant red, like a brighter and flashier MK. “It’s nice to meet you! I’m glad you came to celebrate with me. Come and take a seat!”
He snags your hand between both of his own, giving it a firm pump. “It’s great to meet ya, bud! Thanks for having us!” He heads to the table and bounces on his heels, snatching up a seat for himself before anyone else gets the chance.
You smile and turn to MK’s other friend, the one dressed in a billowing black and red shroud that concealed most of his face and body. You offer him your hand as well.
He shrugs and walks right past you, sitting down at the opposite side of the table- probably to keep away from his colorful and loud companion.
MK frowns at his friend’s behavior, but turns back to you with a wide and rather forced smile. “Don’t worry about him. He’s just… not used to this.” His voice drops to a low whisper as he adds: “And his ears have been hurting all day. I think he’s getting grumpy.”
“I can hear you, kid,” the irritated man says from beneath his shroud. “There’s a reason that I’m called the S-”
“The SUPER SENSITIVE hearing guy, I know! The thing that all of your friends call you,” MK clumsily tries to lie, his ears and cheeks darkening to red with his poor attempt at deceiving you.
But before you can question him on it, his golden-clad friend pipes in with a snide: “He’s certainly sensitive, I’ll give him that.”
Outright chaos is only abated by the sharp click that sounds when you set a porcelain tray on the polished quartz surface of the table.
“MK told me about your favorite fruits, actually! So I stayed up late to make these for all of you,” you cheerily announce to the trio, lifting the delicate lid to reveal three plates of sticky-rice pudding. Each one is delicately drizzled with syrup sugar and studded in tiers with sweet fruits.
Your friend jumps forward, his palms hitting the table as he stares at you with wide-eyes. “Y/N! You made Eight Treasures Rice for us?!”
“Well, it’s more like ‘One Treasure Rice’, haha. It’s really only got the fruit in it, actually. I didn’t wanna put anything you guys didn’t like in there, so I decided to play it safe. I hope that’s not disappointing!”
“Not at all, bud! Not at all!” Several of his aureate accessories glint in the light as the man reaches eagerly for the peach-filled rice pudding.
You pass it to him with a smile, then give MK his own, stuffed full of tangerine slices. With only one left, you push the plum-packed dessert to the shrouded stranger, who seems to slightly brighten up at the sight of it.
Before anyone can say anything, you remove yourself from the table and hurry around the kitchen, gathering plates and utensils for the trio. You put them out quickly, then pile all the dishes you made in the morning onto the table.
“Good kid,” Wukong whispers to Macaque, picking bits of peach from the pudding as you arrange two plates of dumplings on the table. “And good food. Still regret coming, ‘Super Sensitive’?”
“…the kid’s alright. Jury’s still out on the food, though.” He pauses, taking a quick moment to think of something to criticize Wukong for. “And keep your tail under control. I can see the tip flicking back and forth in your pant leg.”
“Whatever you say, bud.”
A tray with a whole braised chicken is set between them, and a platter of steamed rice flour cakes after it. Finally, you take your own seat, next to the shrouded man and across from MK.
It strikes you then that you haven’t even learned the names of your guests.
“I’m Y/N, by the way! I’m sorry for not asking your names earlier! What should I call you?”
“The name’s Sun, bud! And that’s Mac, sitting in the edgy robe.”
“I like the robe,” you compliment politely, looking at the concealing garment. “The cloud embroidery is a nice touch.”
“It’s a cloak… and thanks.”
MK jumps forward in excitement and strikes his palms against the table, rattling the bowls and dishes.
“C‘mon! Let’s eat, everyone!
———————————————————————
“I think everything went well, today. You think so too, right?”
You set the knife down, turning to face ‘Sun’. As you cut up the leftovers, he’s sorting them into separate containers for everyone to take home. (And giving himself larger portions when you weren’t looking.)
“Definitely! I think my, uh… friend was pretty impressed. I hope we can do this again, Y/N! I don’t really have anything scheduled this time of year…like, ever.”
Except for watching fireworks from the top of his mountain, far away from company and civilization. Again and again, over and over, thinking only of his long-passed friends and companions.
“…we are going to do it again, right?”
“Oh, um, sure. I don’t see why not. My family doesn’t really come and visit, so I’ll probably have the house empty again next year. So, um… yes! I’d be happy to have you over!
He hums softly, nodding his head to your words.
“Sounds good, bud. I’ll be there. And… I’ll see if I can wrangle Mac into coming, too. Maybe just to see him jump at fireworks again, though.”
“He seemed interesting,” you graciously offer of the cloaked man, in spite of his admittedly poor behavior through dinner. “I enjoyed his stories.”
“Pfft! I could’ve told them better- I was there for most of them!”
“Well, the two of you should come again- MK seemed happy- more than usual, even. Honestly? I think he’s been stressed out lately… I’m glad he could have a day to relax. I really do need to visit him more often.”
“Huh. Guess it must be a little hard living so far from the city, bud. Any reason you’re this far out?”
“Oh, that’s… I inherited this house- and the orchard outside- from my parents, actually! I take a lot of pride in it, really. I wouldn’t trade it for the world, even if the work is a little lonely.”
“…I think I will come visit, then. And I might sample a few of your fruits, too,” he teases, lightly elbowing your side. “You think you can handle that, bud?”
“…you know what, Sun?” Sun, what he had informed you his name was. It fits him well. He’s bright and exuberant, and never stops smiling. He seems like he’d be a good friend.
“That- that sounds really nice. Come by anytime you’d like.”
Your words sound kind right now. They feel right to say. The Great Sage thinks so too.
And he’s certainly not going to forget about them. Neither will Macaque, listening in from the shadows beside your tangerine trees.
Why would they ever let go of this kindness?

Because someone already asked those questions about your fav anime/manga, can I ask your top 5 favorite western animations (can be movies or series)? Why love them?
Certainly you can dear anon ^7^
So some of my favourite western animations of all time include
1) Tangled
Tumblr media
Why do I love it so much? Well it has been my absolute comfort movie since I was like 10 years old and watched this movie in theatres with my older sister. I also highly relate to Rapunzel, both due to her personality and her experiences with Mother Gothel. Also to this day I fully stand by the believe that Flynn/Eugene and Rapunzel’s relationship is the single most romantic and beautifully written Disney couple in this studio’s entire history. Lastly: THE ANIMATION IS GORGEOUS! And I think few people understand just how ground breaking this movie was in terms if 3D animation as back then animating hair, and most importantly that amount of hair that Rapunzel has, was a nightmare to animate in 3D, so the Studio had to essentially come up with an entirely new animation program specifically for the protagonist’s hair to move around in a natural way.
2) Lego Monkie Kid
Tumblr media
Created by the Australian Studio Flying Bark Productions, the same Studio behind Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, this show means EVERYTHING to me. Because one thing rarely talk about on Tumblr: I am OBSESSED with Mythology. Greek Mythology, Roman, Mythology, Yoruba Mythology, Chinese Mythology, Norse Mythology etc. you name it. Like my bookshelf is nothing but Manga, history books and an astronomical amount of mythology and fairytale books. The show follows MK a hyper and optimistic boy as he is chosen to be the Monkey King Sun Wukong’s successor and learning to be a hero. So as you may have gathered this show is not only inspired by chinese mythology but essentially it’s equivalent of what Percy Jackson is to Greek Mythology. What I adore the most about this show are its characters and the GORGEOUS ANIMATION! I swear the fighting animation especially in this cartoon is smoother than butter!
3) The Owl House
Tumblr media
Aka "What if Harry Potter was not written by a biggot”. If you’ve seen the pinned post on my blog, you know that Lumity is one of my absolute favourite sapphic ships. But honestly this ship is only the peak of the iceberg for why i adore this show. The beautiful artstyle, Luz’s character arc over the course of the show, EDA SIMPLY EXISTING AND BEING FANTASTIC, the beautiful world building and magic system, Emperor Beloz being an absolute irredeemable asshole in the most entertaining and bone chilling way. Srsly if you can dear Anon, give this show a watch.
4) Infinity Train
Tumblr media
An Anthology Series who up until recently you could watch on Max HBO. This show is both delightfully funny and absolutely gut-wrenching and dark. The show essentially follows on a new set of characters each season who all end up getting trapped on a train with an infinite number of cars and they cannot leave the train until they essentially come to terms with and/or face some sort of trauma or other psychological issue they may be struggling with.
And as you may have guessed those themes of working through psychological issues is something that my mentally ill ass highly relates to. Not to mention these are some of the most well handled depictions of mental illnesses in animation i have seen in years. Especially given the show was originally targeted towards children and teenagers. I cannot recommend this show enough.
5) Nimona & Over the Garden Wall
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know you asked for only Top 5 Favourite western Animations but I seriously could not decide which one I prefered so they gotta share the spot. Hope you don’t mind 😊.
Starting with Nimona: I mean what else is there to say about Nimona that has not been said before? Fantastic and unique world building? Check. Absolute comedy gold? Check. Openly Queer characters? Check. Said characters also being absolutely loveable? Check. A heartfelt message for both adults and children? CHECK. Seriously this movie is just gorgeous and on Youtube FOR FREE! Like there is nothing stopping you from watching it right this instant.
Now onto Over the Garden Wall: I come from a country where we don’t typically celebrate Halloween. So due to a lack of direct cultural ties to Halloween I never truly had any super strong interest in Halloween movies and never had the urge around October to bundle up in a blanket and watch those classic Halloween movies and shows, like some of my friends do. The most I did was carve pumpkins with my sister and drink hot cocoa cuz it’s genuinly fun. Until this Mini Series came along. The atmosphere just absolutely perfectly manages to capsulate the feeling of autumn and the eeriness of that season. Far more than any other Halloween Classic in my humble opinion. Also again I’m a huge mythology Nerd and this show is basically Dante’s Inferno for children in very weird way. But yes ever since this show had come out I instantly rewatch it the second the leaves start to fall outside.

Chapter 25
@journeythroughjourneytothewest
Please note Wukong giggles when he is lying apparently
Tumblr media
HE TERRIBLE POKER PLAYER
Sanzang really just said "As long as you apologize everything should be fine" and Wukong SNITCHES COME ON. Even Bajie knew not to snitch!
Tumblr media
Honestly, good for him not killing them outright. It is the little things but THAT IS GROWTH
Tumblr media
It so weird to me that because they got to curse at these guys for like 30 minutes straight they then think 'huh they didn't yell back, maybe we are in the wrong?' only to be fucking blindsided with a broken ass tree
Tumblr media
These brats really think they are clever 'trapping' them in the room as if Wukong can't just make an exit through he fucking wall. Like they made a whole ass plan lying to get them seated and fed when really they just got a free meal
Tumblr media
Okay now that was uncalled for he had been waiting 10 lifetimes for this
Tumblr media
Sanzang: You just had to start shit didn't you? Wukong: I regret nothing. The End.
I like how Wukong describes the Fillet Tightening Spell gives him 'a hard time' like...... Understatement of the century bruh but okay if that's how you wanna see it.
Tumblr media
I do like that Sanzang is seen as a lawful good guy but like deadass he 100% on board for sneaking out in the middle of the night to avoid responsibilities. Also, he just asks Wukong not to fucking kill the lads, like they don't need any more trouble. Man's go-to plan is always "lets fucking leave"
Tumblr media
Also Wukong has sleep bugs, I'm adding that to his powers
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wukong just dissociates so hard not to deal with this bullshit
NO NOW YOU KNOW HOW TO LIE
Tumblr media
This is why Bailong doesn't show his true self, he just minding his own business
Tumblr media
Strange priorities but.... guess at least he has some Not to be stabbed but whipping is A Okay....
Tumblr media
Wukong knows that Sanzang can't take 30 lashes and takes it on himself
This probs the first time we see him take responsibility for his actions when he sees that it affects others and for the sake of someone else he admits that he was in the wrong for it
Also being hard as steel is damn helpful
Tumblr media
Did they..... did they wipe the fur Wukong's legs? Is he bald there now? Is this like a shaving to him?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No pleasing this guy
Okay maybe staying up for 48 hours straight would make you grumpy but still
Tumblr media
First 3 on 1 battle. Do like Wukong asked to kill the guy first, he didn't wait for an answer but at least he asked
Tumblr media
It's good to know even in the direst situations these two assholes still have enough gumption in themselves to still joke about being burned alive, fried, and then oiled like "Yeah yeah, being tortured we've already seen it"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
OH HE IS WORRIED THO THE POOR ASS MONKEY! HE JUST WANNA TALK BIG THO
Tumblr media
Man playing 4D chess out here: How to fix a tricky situation, makes yourself a rock and fucking break the oil out like a pro
Tumblr media
Kudos to Wukong for still not letting Sanzang get boiled alive Also extra kudos to him saying "I had to go take a piss and didn't want to ruin the oil" like a valid reason as any really

How Mk inherited the staff
Ok, I've been thinking about this a lot to work out how this fits the plot I've basically rewritten due to hyper fixation, and I think I've got it. For context Sand and Pigsy are the same from the jttw, and Mk absolutely grew up knowing his fun uncle sandy because I refuse to believe pigsy doesn't check up on him regularly. So Mk is taken in by Pigsy after stumbling into the noodle shop hurt and disoriented. Tang helps pigsy fix him up and the try to figure out how to find his family when the kid has no memories. They only thing they find is there seems to be no record of the kid anywhere, and so they make the decision to take him in considering he's already attached to them and it was better than just letting him float around in the system.
So Pigsy names him Mk and he lives a relatively normal life. He had a few health scares what with all that magic being suppressed and the headaches whenever his memories try and fail to break through the surface, but they happened less and less the older he got. Same as canon, Mk becomes pigsys delivery driver. I feel like I should note that I picture Pigsy as more of the stern uncle type than a father figure so that's how I'm portraying him in this au. On one particular day Wukong is flying over the city in his bird form when he spots Mk. For the briefest moment upon seeing him Wukong swears he looked just like Xiaotian (hint hint nudge nudge that's yoUR SON-) and is so shocked that he doesn't pay attention to where he's flying and smacks straight into a telephone pole. Said pole then spontaneously toppled, onlookers are very confused.
So Wukong hightailed it back to ffm to tell Macaque because he's basically panicking internally. Macaque does his best to calm him down when they both hear something. Wukong immediately recognizes the sound and pulls his staff out of his ear (dbk was never sealed so he still has it) and sure enough he was right, there was a ringing sound coming from the staff, the same one he heard when he got it from the dragon palace. Surely it couldn't be a coincidence, the staff starts singing as soon as he sees a random mortal who he thought was his long lost son? Surely it must be reincarnation! (Because logic)
So of course he starts following him. The more he watches Mk the more he sees the similarities, he reminds wukong so much of Xiaotian that it hurts. Macaque followed him for a while and felt the same. And whenever Wukong would bring the staff out he would see Mk turn his head towards it when it sang. By all accounts the staff had chosen a new master. Wukong and Macaque discuss this and agree that it's best to let Mk decide for himself. They just needed to figure out how to tell him.
That's all I have for this post, I didn't expect it to get so long. Anyways I hope you like it. Please leave a comment below or go to the ask box, feedback really helps. See you next time
