George Karim Appreciation Post

One of the reasons why I love George Karim (a.k.a. George Cubbins) character so much is that he is not the plucky sidekick nor is he the funny comic relief. He is a rather fully-formed character who does not have to change nor improve. He is as he is and we won't have him any other way.

Let me explain--

When George first comes into the scene, Netflix or book, he is suspicious, sardonic, and doesn't give two-shits about whether you like what he has to say. He tells you exactly what he thinks of you, and while that may strike many as rude, George is never really cruel. He calls something out not to make you feel uncomfortable, but because he doesn't like what he's seeing, and some part of him probably feels like he wants you to fix it. He speaks up when he doesn't like what Lockwood orders him to do (or not do, particularly in the case of research, or Lockwood's lack of inclination towards it), and he refuses to stay quiet when he thinks he's being treated unfairly ("Where's his slap?" or "We only get one biscuit each.").

He's not being inflexible, he's just not there for the bullshit, because he is kind when he has to be. He is helpful when he has to be. He is anxious about Lucy and Lockwood's welfare when he as to be.

When he softens towards Lucy, that is not him, "softening". That is him, trusting. That is not character growth--he never lacked the ability to trust, as he trusts Lockwood, its just that he has permitted Lucy into his circle.

His conflict was in his realization that Lucy's arrival did not make him a third wheel, that he was just as important to them as they were to each other. That is not a lack of character on his part, however, that was on Lucy and Lockwood. Before he was in Lockwood & Co., his researching abilities, however amazing, was not enough to keep him in Fittes, so as far as he was concerned, his abilities did not make him indispensible, but it is the best talent he has, and if that can't keep him in Fittes, then there was reason to believe that Lockwood & Co could just as easily do the same thing, especially since Lucy and Lockwood didn't appear to appreciate his good work as often as it deserved.

George is fantastic in his complexities, and how he isn't the "sidekick" or the "clown" (like in other trios we know that Shall Not Be Named), makes him exceptional. He is a character that can stand on his own and have his own story, which is probably why it wasn't painful in the least when, in the Netflix series, he seemed to have his own arc going for a bit. Normally, when you have a series where there is a popular pairing like Lockelye, you could barely stand to watch other characters getting their own story (like Riverdale), but I was so heavily invested in George Karim's journey with the boneglass that it didn't feel like a useless deviation in the least.

There are so many things to love about George, but that he wasn't expected to change for us to love him is probably my favorite thing about him.

Riverdale, ep. 7x13 - The Crucible (spoilers)

Well, we're finally moving the story along in episode thirteen...of twenty. Sigh. I will say that I didn't dislike this episode as much as I have the past few but still....

It all starts with an accusation of Communism against the English teacher. She's fired and Penelope is put in her place (temporarily). She actually doesn't do much. Archie is bummed because she was the only teacher who understood him (seriously, this should have been a warning).

Betty, meanwhile, finds out the Blue and Gold is being shut down because, well, teenagers don't have anything to say. This is also reinforced by the fact that Alice takes Betty's typewriter and telephone. Betty decides to start an underground newsletter instead and it becomes popular. God, let this mean our Betty is coming back.

Cheryl is told by Clifford that she's been named as someone who has an unnatural relationship. Clifford is able to squash that rumor, so long as Cheryl confirms the names of others on the list. Cheryl refuses, but then Clifford threatens to take the Vixens away. Cheryl warns Toni, Clay, and Kevin about the list. She realizes that it must be Evelyn who ratted them out. Cheryl then spends most of the episode trying to figure out a way to refuse to sign the confession without loosing the Vixens. Strangely, Toni, Clay, and Kevin treat this as some sort of true moral dilemma and not point out how these accusations could, in fact, completely destroy their lives. They even decide that the best option is that Cheryl and Kevin pretend to date and Clay and Toni pretend to date so that they can say the accusations aren't true. Still, in the end, Cheryl hears a Archie speak a monologue (more on that in a minute) and decides to tell her father she won't sign the papers, even though it means loosing the Vixens. The two couples still do the pretend dating thing because they ain't stupid and their names are still on a list.

Veronica, meanwhile, is surprised to discover that Hiram has come to see her. He has, in fact, not come to see her. He's in trouble, again. He's being accused of being a Communist because of a trip he made to Cuba. And because he happened to be photographed with Castro (give him whatever fake name you want. It's Castro). He wants Veronica to lie and say it was a family trip. It was not, in fact, a family trip. He was there with his mistress. Veronica, after seeing Archie's monologue (more of that in a minute), decides to say that it was a family trip...provided that Hiram is honest to Hermione and gives Veronica the deed to the apartment. Later, Hermione comes to the apartment and lets Veronica know that she and Hiram will divorce. By the by, so much of this story is lifted from Lucille Ball's actual life that it's...just pathetic on the writers part.

Archie is bummed about his teacher, because she was the only one who supported his poetry writing (clearly she has no taste). The adults in his life are concerned that she may have tried to influence him (God, the clues were...right there about what would happen next). Well, not Frank. Frank's worried that people may feel that, if Archie writes poetry, he might be *gay.* Archie decides to visit his teacher, who gives him a copy of The Crucible (which really doesn't help her case any). Archie decides to preform a monologue from that play (and KJ is clearly trying to audition for future acting rolls). Veronica meets up with Archie and tells him how much she appreciates what he said. She gives him a kiss on the cheek. And then they kiss. Well, we figured they would bring back the old triangle. It could be worse.

And then Grundy appears.

Fuck. My. Life.

But, wait, she's married; which is hopefully the shows way of saying nothing will happen. But it's Riverdale...and they took hope out to the back and shot it a long time ago.

Finally, we have Jughead and Ethel. It turns out that no one will sell comic books anymore. So, Jughead and Ethel...steal some of the comics from Pep to run an underground side hustle? Seriously, they couldn't have stolen every single one they sold....so was Pep involved somehow? But Dilton turns Narc and they're shut down. And so, they adults decide it's time for full measures. The principal tells the students that he'll buy their old comics and then he burns them in the Riverdale High parking lot (ok, as a Library Associate who lives in a state that is very much trying to censor what people read...yeah, that was terrifying).

Anyway, next week is our final musical episode. And, as it's all about Archie, the rumors must be true and it's all original music written by Roberto. We're truly in the deepest pits of hell now!

So, I loved the finale...BUT! Hear me out.

Jason walking Betty through her last day instead of Narrator Jughead.

Betty dies in her sleep and wakes up to find Jason Blossom standing at her bedside. He smiles.

"Jason--? But you're..."

"Yes, Betty. And so are you."

He takes her back to Riverdale, to the past. Part of me wants it to be more like Our Town where Betty can't change anything because I love the pain of her having to watch herself live normally when she knows, in death, that didn't (and couldn't) appreciate what she had when she had it. But her sort of straddling the line between being there and this being nothing more than a memory is fine too. I'm not super picky about that.

Much of it plays out the same with her seeing all of her friends and remembering what became of them.

However, when we get to Cheryl, Jason talks a little bit about how much he loves her. He tells Betty how proud he is of her. As an addition to Cheryl's story, Jason tells Betty that she still carried out the occasional arson when the mood called for it.

"And what about Toni?"

Jason winks.

"Well, who do you think drove the getaway car...or motorcycle?"

"They were always a pair, weren't they?" Betty muses.

"Sometimes change means burning everything down and starting over. Cher Cher has always understood that, but she hasn't always known how to rebuild, not really. Thankfully, she has Toni and always will."

Betty then asks,

"Why didn't you come back? When Angel Tabitha brought us here?"

Jason chuckles.

"Well, Betty. I did die twice, you know. Not to mention being sacrificed to Moloch. Let's just say, I've been otherwise engaged. But honestly, I'm glad I didn't come back. Without me, Cheryl was able to be herself instead of drowning in my shadow. Besides, it's not like we never--Ah, I'm getting ahead of myself."

"What do you mean?"

"You'll see."

They continue their tour with many of the same scenes. Betty echoing Emily's doubts and pains about reliving her old life are good. More Our Town references are fine and encouraged.

Archie still reads his silly poem. Jason and Cheryl laugh together at the line about him being kept in the "cellar".

The rest plays out as it does with the visit to Pop's grave. Jason looks up and we see Narrator Jughead.

"Hey Jughead." Jason smiles.

"Do you mind if I cut in?" He asks.

Jason disappears and Jughead joins Betty on the bench in the graveyard. He seems very sad, like he does't want to say goodbye to her. Perhaps that's why he sent a proxy. Saying goodbye is very hard.

They talk about what became of them in the 50's timeline, as it plays out in the show.

Betty then goes from location to location saying goodbye.

Finally, it's time to go to Pop's. Jughead takes her there.

Jason lets her in and everyone is there, just like it was in the episode. One small difference is Jason sitting at Cheryl's and Toni's table. He and Toni are sharing a joke at Cheryl's expense.

And then Narrator Jughead plays us out.

So yeah, that's probably my ideal finale. I really, really wanted something to be tied up with Jason. He's the inciting incident and his significance to the opening of the story would lend itself to being very significant at the end, I think.

cheryl came out to the vixens and said she was in a relationship with toni and was like if you don't like lesbians you can go hang out with evelyn evernever but you're off the squad. kevin whose father wanted him to sleep with a hooker because he didn't want him to be gay earlier this season saw his dad and archie's homophobic uncle frank in a hotel room with uncle frank shirtless which was like🤨 jughead's comic about a black woman and a white man falling in love and about a comet causing the end of the world as we know it or something didn't fit the code the bad guys gave him to work with but then the pep comics publisher was like fuck them we'll publish it anyway and go out with a bang (haha). veronica told clay he was gonna direct an adaptation with sidney poitier as the lead. reggie told archie he couldn't go to basketball camp because he had to work on his parents' farm but archie offered to go work in his place so he could go <3 betty published a book in the vein of the advice she was giving as the girl the next door (was that her alias?) and showed it to her mom who did not congratulate her she was like oh yeah that is definitely a book and you are on the cover of it and then betty told her to read it so she'd get to know her better and maybe get to know herself better too and so she did. and alice is gonna become a stewardess or wanted to at one point and betty was like it's not too late yolo.

this was not even the interesting part. THEN tabitha who was jughead's girlfriend in the 2020s came back and jughead was like hey are you back because she's on the road with civil rights activists in the 1950s BUT THEN tabitha's like no i'm not your tabitha i'm...YOUR tabitha i'm angel tabitha the one who can time travel through all the dimensions etc etc. and she shows jughead his life (so riverdale) and they watch it on a tv in color he's like wow this is crazy and then he remembers his life and the fact that he's from the future and then tabitha tells him that since they're all doing so well in the 50s timeline she's merging all the timelines together and integrating them into this one but that means she can't send them back to the future (movie reference i don't know if you've ever heard of it) so they'll stay in the 50s because it's the better timeline. then they show archie his riverdale life in color and he's like wow that's crazy then they tell everyone what's going on they all watch their lives and they're like can we get a supercut of us please we don't wanna remember the bad stuff and jughead's like no you must appreciate the bad to appreciate the good. but tabitha's like no actually i can do that. so they all forget their bad memories and they all watch the movie of their lives together and laugh and smile. except for betty who's the only one besides jughead who decided to remember the bad stuff because OF COURSE she's betty miss darkness (betty's darkness is an inside joke i have with my riverdale friend). but she still laughs and smiles. then tabitha walks out of the theater of their lives and jughead follows her and she tells him that she can't stay in this timeline and that they'll never be together again because 1950s tabitha doesn't come back to riverdale and settles down in chicago (i think) 😔 but she tells him they're together in other timelines and that they're all real even the one in which they have a family together and grow old together that they experienced at one point which i don't remember happening at all but she said it so it must be true. then they kiss and she disappears for good. fin. except not really that's tomorrow.

I don't like commenting on people's looks because I'm far from a supermodel myself; However, I think Miles (Lewis' friend) gets a lot of credit for his looks because he's tall, fit and light-skinned. He's also covered in tattoos and had bleach blonde hair, which made him unique. He also has a lot of confidence and charisma. There are interviews with full grown heterosexual men fawning over him (I would enter a smirk emoji, but anon doesn't let you do that). Ebro from Hot97 straight up asked him about his stroke game. What straight man asks another straight man that question, unless he's attracted to him?

Back to his looks: Miles is far from ugly, but now that he lets his facial hair grow rogue and his hair is back dark, I could see how someone wouldn't get the hype.

Just a side note: I feel like a lot of Lewis' friend group is kind of doofy, and try-hard. If it wasn't for their success in their respective fields, I think they would have a hard time getting quality women interested in them.

Sounds like a Vincent Cassel type. Physically that old man scares me but it seems like he has such an effect on people who interact with him. Maybe they're both the type of people you need to come face to face with to fully appreciate.

Again I don't think Miles is ugly but I didn't get the fawning that happens with him.

Also your last comment made me search and Miles dated the girl from Riverdale?

Hi! I would LOVE to hear more about why you think Bughead no longer worked in canon even though you shipped them because I often felt the same way. Also, thank you for being one of the only people on this site who likes Fresley!

hi! (i am going to preface this by saying i haven't watched the second half of s6 or s7, but i know what largely happens in them) also i know this posts sounds incredibly critical of jughead, but i do still love him very much! i still love bughead so much and i think maybe given how the show ended it could've worked for them to meet again later in life after they had established themselves away from riverdale.

however, before the 50s storyline, when they had barchie kiss + the core four moving apart from each other and establishing different lives, it really gave me the distinct feeling that they were completely moving on from bughead. whether this was on purpose because of lili/cole's real life separation or just me reading too much into it i can't say. i was upset at the cheating storyline when it first happened because i was staunchly bugvarchie, but when i watched s5 i started to enjoy the relationship of barchie.

i think my main problem with bughead post breakup is the fact that jughead felt like such an outsider in his storylines in regards to the core four. season 5 kind of started to take on a love triangle lite storyline with betty having deeper feelings for archie, while he returned to veronica and jughead had no place in this, so he kind of drifted away from them. i have problems with the way they wrote adult jughead, frankly i was never that interested in what they were doing with him because, again, it felt like he was on the outside of the story along with tabitha (who i do love and adore and i have problems with the way her character was tossed away when she wasn't needed) i don't know if this was a choice they made on purpose, but i was just not a fan.

all in all, i think if they had tried to make bughead canon again, it would have undermined the character growth that everyone had gone through, and it would've been disrespectful to the fans of the ships that they would've needed to toss aside.

i hope this makes sense! this is the first time i've thought really in depth about why the relationship didn't work for me any longer, so i really hope this doesn't sound like gibberish!

I am asking in the goodest bestest faith with my heart open trying to accept that there's an answer: how is bisexual polycule with Beronica the straighten endgame option for Riverdale just because they don't explicitly mention Jarchie? I mean, they could have not had Beronica? (Sorry if the post was old, I just was scrolling around the Riverdale tag). I also don't understand how Archie wasn't still canon bi, but that's harder to talk about I guess

Hey Anon! It's not that old, and as I mostly shoot my mouth off about RVD without much thought to how it comes across im absolutely happy to explain my jumbled half-baked thoughts lmao.

To be totally clear; I'm absolutely not erasing the bisexuality of the polycule nor am I discounting the fact that we absolutely had canonical bisexual archie even if he and reggie didn't kiss on screen/at all. None of these fools were straight at the end of the day. and for all my grievances with this show I do completely appreciate this. I didn't mean to imply that archie wasn't bi just because he didn't end up with jug in the polycule.

I complained about it being the 'straightest possible version of this' as in 'this felt very written by a straight person who has very specific views on queerness'. the tl;dr is; I felt like it was kinda fetishy and queerbaity to imply that only the women in the relationship are dating each other as well as the men, especially since they were the only ones who kissed on screen. We didn't get to watch archie or even jug have nearly the same level of queer exploration at all, and I think that's kinda shitty.

as a small disclaimer, i believe the writer is actually gay, im not trying to be like 'ugh a straight person wrote this' I'm trying to explain my feelings in terms that can be understood lmfao.

Now ofc, idk what was happening behind the scenes. Maybe KJ felt too uncomfortable to do a scene of kissing another man, maybe he didn't want to kiss cole, who knows. totally valid reasons.

To explain it bit more in-depth: It felt super queerbaity, or I guess bi-baity? to me to have a whole episode of archie figuring out bisexuality and never have him explore that more on screen, only to say that he was in a polycule that didn't include Reggie (who it was implied pretty heavily he had some feelings for) ((It should've involved reggie I'll die on this hill)) and only really seemed to imply that betty and veronica were dating. We got to see Veronica and Betty explore this side of themselves repeatedly and on screen, and I love that they did this, but I honestly think it kind of sucks that Archie didn't get to have that same level of exploration as well (even if it's lowkey implied he's gonna ride trains and fuck all summer until he ends up going to the farm instead). I really would've loved to see him figure out his feelings some more through dating Reggie or Jughead in a similar way Betty and Veronica got to explore that.

I haven't seen Every Bit Of Media OUt There, but growing up I always felt like the bisexual women on screen were always out having sex and kissing and being loud and proud while the bisexual men were always a bit more closeted and restrained, and never as loud and proud. This is a broader spectrum, but this is where that part of that annoyance stems from.

And like it's all well and good that we got to hear about the polycule, but it felt like an afterthought and a meatless bone thrown to the queer audiences out there, we didn't really get a chance to explore that side of things at all ((because we were too busy learning chic was playing bury your gays with kevin's dad and archie's uncle??? like wtf?? I guess we were going for a bit of a gritty ending but cmon)) and they kind of immediately break up on screen? It just felt like one last middle finger from the cw. And yknow, time constraints, endings are insanely hard to write, etc. But not one person was like "hey shouldn't we... explore this a little bit?" cmon,

tldr part 2: The should've done more or had a longer ending so that more stuff could be fit in.

anyway, I just think it would've been nice if we could've seen more of that whole deal, but at the end of the day it's just my opinion, sorry for the huge jumbled ramble its nearly 1 in the morning lmao.

hi! as you know, i adore your writing style and stories.

in light of the recent row v. wade overturn and the horrors that will inevitably bring upon society, i was wondering if you’d ever consider writing another fic of Chase and Zoey where they have a teen or young adult pregnancy scare, assess the situation, and realize they have options?

i saw a tweet that’s gotten very popular today about how “an abortjon would’ve saved Zoey 101” and while i know that isn’t entirely accurate and oversimplifying what really happened back in 2007, it was funny nonetheless.

i’ve read stories before for the riverdale fandom (bughead) about how betty may’ve had an intimate and overwhelming pregnancy scare and tried to keep it from jughead to spare him the internal panic, but it was very grounded, realistic, and enjoyable to see how at the end of the day, they have mutual respect for each other. while they are very free sprites and deeply attracted to one another, they want to be sure they enjoy sex with each other & stay careful and informed.

hope this was not too long winded, and i completely understand if you do not take fic suggestions or requests, it’s just that it got me thinking and you’re one of the only truly amazing Zoey 101 writers out there that i’ve been able to find.

I will be honest, I hate pregnancy fics of any kind, so I'm not especially inclined to write one. The bunch that got written in light of Jamie Lynn's pregnancy also annoyed me; you're telling me no one in that school had ever heard of a condom or even just pulling out?

That said, I did write if there is anyone in the sun where Chase explicitly mentions the option of an abortion. But I am personally inclined to headcanon Zoey as being Catholic and therefore not especially amenable to act on that (not that all Catholics are pro-life either).

Thank you so much for introducing us to Big Ethel Energy! My friends have been trying to get me on Webtoons for quite some time but it looks like I just needed the right story. Ethel is so underappreciated and the butt of many jokes so it's refreshing to see her in the spotlight! Happy holidays!

... unfortunately I'm not liking it as much as I thought I would. I was excited when the news about Big Ethel Energy came out because I was curious about how they're gonna tell the Riverdale gang story through Big Ethel's POV. It's nice that you're enjoying it, so please don't let my opinion affect yours. It's still too early to judge the entire series since they've only released 16 episodes so far (17 by the time this gets posted), so there's still a chance that I would change my mind. Maybe I'll like what happens in the end. I don't know.

My main problem with the webtoon is probably how the writer is trying so hard to paint Jughead as an "immature jerk" when he's just an introverted foodie who doesn't go out of his way in the name of conformity. The characters are all adults in the webtoon, so it's perfectly fine for Jughead to work on his vlog instead of choosing to hang out with the gang. Also, can we really blame him if he's not romantically interested in Big Ethel? Not reciprocating someone else's feelings - regardless of how genuine they are - is not a crime. It's not like he was purposely leading her on (like Archie does to Betty). And no, saying "hi" to her that one time in episode 5 doesn't mean he's trying to keep her hopes up. People should really stop confusing friendliness or politeness with romantic interest. But like I said, it's probably too early to judge the entire thing, so I'm hoping there's a plot twist somewhere that will sort of redeem Jughead in the eyes of those rabid commenters who bash him every chance they get.

Another problem I have with this webtoon is how they gave Betty's journalistic sensibilities to Big Ethel. The Blue and Gold staff in the comics has constantly changed over the years except for Betty. Though she sometimes share the editor-in-chief position with either Archie or Dilton, Betty has always been a reporter for the school paper. She even became an intern for a local station during the Betty and Me era. Writing is also one of her many talents. She's the go-to girl for any competition that involves journalism or creative writing. It's also not an exaggeration to say that Betty Cooper is also Miss Grundy (and probably every other Riverdale High teacher's) favorite student. While I appreciate the fact that they didn't make webtoon Ethel's interests revolve around Jughead's (like how she uses food and dogs to lure Jughead into giving her a bit of attention), I also don't think it's right to give her the qualities that were heavily associated with Betty in the comics. Big Ethel is a fine cook, a reliable babysitter, and a talented athlete. She also loves dogs. I do understand that the writer must come up with a way to rope Big Ethel back into whatever's going on in Riverdale, but I don't think forcing her to write a book about the town is the only way to make her come home.

The art is very pretty though. I'm still not used to the character design they chose for Big Ethel, but the illustrator is really talented. It seems like she's on a personal mission to make everyone in the webtoon look hot and that's okay, but it somehow makes it difficult for me, the reader, to accept that Big Ethel was such an "ugly duckling" in high school when the character design looked really pretty. I mean, it's still possible for someone as pretty as her to have insecurities (especially if Veronica Lodge exists to crush every bit of self-esteem she has left), but it's quite hard to buy Big Ethel's "glow up" from high school to adulthood when she basically looked the same.

Sorry for ranting. I didn't really mean to, but I guess I got carried away. Again, please don't let my opinion of the webtoon (so far) affect your enjoyment of it. I promised myself that I'm gonna read it until the end, so I really might still change my mind. Maybe I'll eventually like it? I mean, it did give us this cute Bughead interaction from episode 5, so I'm gonna cross my fingers and still hope for the best. Anyway, thank you for always supporting this blog. Every experience is different and not every aromantic person is the same, it's important to keep that in mind! In my own experience I have always been very romance repulsed, I hated romance in shows and movies, I didn't have any crushes while everyone else I knew did, and the idea of ever liking someone genuinely caused me a lot of distress. I didn't even know aromanticism was a real thing until I was like 17 and I related a lot to the term but I worried I could probably not be aro at all and I didn't want to simply do it for "attention", which is a completely wrong thing! Even if you're not 100% sure trying different labels is a good thing, even if you change them with time, you're not doing that for attention you're discovering who you are and which term and identity makes you happy at the moment!

But yes the thing is there wasn't any aromantic character at all in any piece of media I liked, and representation can be really important to find out who you are a lot of the time. Jughead (from the archie comics not riverdale) was the only character i knew that was heavily implied to be aromantic, but I'm not really an archie fan I just appreciate the character of jughead of the comics a lot

So in 2017 I watched this show called Sam&Max for the first time and Max was a character that talked about how much he dislikes romance, how he doesn't care about that stuff at all and how it's even gross to him. Sam is his life partner and Max is clearly gay as well, but I don't think he likes him romantically speaking, their relationship feels incredibly aspec which I really love. I headcanoned him as aromantic pretty early on, and short after that I realized that I related way too much with this headcanon for me to simply "fake" that I was aro, I think I truly was aro, and I was!

It was't Max alone who made me realize I was aro but he helped me a lot, and I'm happy for that

Riverdale S2 E2

- Jughead is a morning person. I am not OK with this. I mean, Riverdale HS classes start at 8:30 so if he wants to get solo writing time and some food at Pop's before that I guess he has to get up early but wow. Jughead is basically on Sylvia Plath's schedule when composing Ariel poems? Sheriff Keller is wrong all the time but failure to understand that Jughead is a frustrated Type A People Pleaser is a big one.

- Archie's compulsion towards extreme violence was really starting to bother me in S5 but I see it starts right after Fred is shot. Nobody checks this violence and while S1 Mama Veronica could've forced him to therapy, in S2 she's in Disempowered Mija V mode and she can't, and then Reggie 2.0 toxic masculinity blocks Archie from going at the last minute.

- Reggie 2.0. Omg 오빠 where have you been?? I know they just switched actors but I think it could've been fun for someone to have built in a short backstory, a la Archie's Got Abs, for why he looks and acts so different. Reggie Mantle, winner of the bone structure genetic lottery.

- Also, very important, Reggie 2.0 smacks Archie's ass after their drug deal, that I didn't take the time to fully appreciate the first time. (I do not accept that Reggie is totally straight despite what Fangs says after the key party)

- Tall Boy has a nose ring!

- Cheryl had a literal rebirth at Sweetwater River. She was in water under a thin barrier, there was force and blood (Archie's), a kiss of life from a True Ginger Penis, a first intake of breath. And she went from that to burning her house down and pushing her actual mother into it for a baptism of fire. 🔥 and 🧊. I can wax lyrical about Cheryl's character construction forever.

- Cheryl is also an essential antidote to Bughead getting too syrupy. "Hobo! Bride of Hobo!" is actually how I think of Bughead. "You two are like chimps in captivity" is strong, as is, but finishing it off with "picking lice off each other" takes it right to the hilt.

- Jughead's opener to soften up Veronica for a heart to heart is cute (I don't have broad shoulders or red hair or a blonde ponytail) but his advice to Veronica, to give her father a chance, is absolutely wrong and terrible. It pushes her further into Mija Veronica mode, which ruins her life for the next 10 years. Oopsie!

- By the same token, Jughead being so unreservedly in love with FP makes me extremely uncomfortable, mostly because it's true to life. Children, esp. neglected abused ones, remain devoted and loyal to terrible parents. FP does not deserve it! He also has to know Jughead is consorting with the Serpents but doesn't think to give him ANY useful information ahead of time.

- Jughead in a Pop's uniform for the fundraiser, with no inkling he'll have to wear it to not starve in 10 years. Oof.

- Betty extorting and blackmailing Cheryl using the snuff film makes her not a good person. And that snuff film gets out! How? Does Cheryl sell it to Blue Velvet Video?!? Does a Serpent??

Ok, so I haven't been able to comment much on my Riverdale rewatch mostly bc i'm watching it with my boyfriend and we have an agreement of no cell phones when we're watching, otherwise we can't pay proper attention to it. But I wrote down some notes about the episodes I did watch (I watched up until ep 6, which is very ironic bc apparently today is its anniversary, so yay for my perfect timing). I actually remember most of the stuff that happened in s1, so here's mostly a few things I paid more attention to or noticed about the characters and the ships, or things i'm able to look at through a different view now that i've watched all the seasons. Strap in if you want to see my notes, if not just scroll please, no ship or character hate here please. Also, feel free to ignore, this is really just a personal look in some stuff I didn't notice in my first watch.

- Betty's character used to be much happier and lighter in season 1. I know we're introduced to "Dark Betty" right in episode 3, but still, I feel like the way Lili played Betty in season 1 did not hold the same "darkness" as it does in the following seasons. The scene where she is dancing happily in her bedroom because she's going to homecoming with the boy she likes? The scene where she introduces Jughead to the Blue & Gold and gets him to work with her? Her genuine innocent happiness at seeing her sister again after so much time? The way she interacted with Kevin and Veronica? Those were all chef's kiss because she actually feels like a teenager in them. In all her girly glory, she radiates youth energy and it's a thing that was sadly lacking after s1. Btw this is not a critique at Lili's acting at all, I blame it entirely on Ras and his obsession with dark Betty.

- There's actually so many indications of Cheryl being a lgbt character in the first episodes that I have no idea how I missed it the first time. But then again, there were many indications with Veronica as well, and sadly that's not the path Ras chose for her.

- Jughead in s1 is truly so superior in so many ways that it's not hard to see why he quickly became such a fan favorite. I think even if he wasn't played by Cole Sprouse, he still would have conquered many fans' hearts. Sadly, the things that made Jughead such a loving and interesting character for me also fizzled out in s2 when the writing team decided to make him a woke serpent leader instead of allowing him to sticking to his true personality as a passionate mystery lover, a dedicated friend and very nerdy, which was very cute. I feel that we got some of that back for him in s4, which was good, but sadly s1 is where my love for him really stayed to stay. But I still care for him, and s5 has a promising storyline for him which i'm excited about, so let's see if s5 Jughead can become better than s1 Jughead.

- Going back again to Cheryl for a sec, I just noticed that the red lipstick actually wasn't that common for her in s1? At least not in the first five. I wonder when did it start becoming her trademark? Anyways, it's actually a really good look her and allows you to appreciate Madelaine's natural beauty even more.

- Also, did anybody notice how Alice lowkey figured out who killed Jason in ep 2 lmao, like... in episode two she legit says she wouldn't be surprised if the Blossoms themselves had killed Jason, which... is what happened LMAO, considering we know it was his father. And even more hilarious and tragically ironic note, in ep 6 she's laughing at Betty suggesting that Hal killed Jason because "do you think your father has the stomach for it?!"... Ma'am... i'm-.... 😂😂😂😂.

- This rewatch has reminded me of how much I adored and how I much I miss Josie and the Pussycats. The girls were such a nice addition to the cast, and their songs were so beautiful. I truly wish we get to see them again someday, but at the same time I also think the actresses deserve to be at a work place where they're given the treatment they deserve and not completely ignored and treated like extras.

- Archie/Valerie was super cute and is very underrated in the fandom, but i'm glad Valerie stood up for herself and didn't take any of Archie's or Cheryl's sh*t. Still sucks because they were really good together, though.

- Why was Jason not allowed to talk, lmao? Like, i'm sure it's become a running joke in the show at this point, but back when season one was airing what was the excuse for it? He appeared in so many flashbacks and scenes and we still never heard a single word ☠️☠️☠️☠️. I just want to know what was the reason lol.

- I liked s1 Reggie, but I feel like Charles Melton's Reggie is better because he actually feels like a douche with good intentions lol, and he has more of a personality. Most of the time I even forgot about Reggie in s1, but after s2 he definitely made me more aware of him. So for that, I like Charles Melton's Reggie more. But the actor from s1 still did a good job with what he was given.

From now on I will be talking about the ships, so bear with me, and know that I am a multishipper. Yes, I have my preferences. No, my word is not law, it's just an opinion, so please respect it.

- Bughead is still super cute in s1. I feel like from s1 they will always be my otp, even if I no longer feel as strongly about them now and have a different insight as to where I would like their story to go, and now I definitely see the problem others had mentioned before of how they kind of took over the show, which is something I kind of closed my eyes to before... But I really loved them in s1. It felt like a very juvenile teenage relationship, they didn't give much thought on why and if they should be together, they just went for it like teenagers usually do, and they were very very cute together.

- I feel like if you don't count Beronica (because they really were the best no matter what you say or ship), if there's a ship that deserves "best chemistry" award for s1 is probably Varchie. I lost my interest in them years ago, but this rewatch reminded me of why I actually loved them once. They never really became an otp for me, but Kj and Camila's chemistry in s1 was VERY GOOD, and I really liked them. Their kiss in the pilot was electric and the s&xual tension was OOF, and that chemistry carries on through the season. You can easily tell something will happen between them eventually. It makes me sad bc I don't know what happened after s1, but their chemistry from s2 onwards was just... not there for me. Which is ironic bc it's the season they truly started dating and they got a lot of smexy scenes, but I just... didn't feel it. But I'll leave that comment to my s2 rewatch. For now just let me enjoy Varchie's chemistry in s1 while it lasts because it was really good.

- Now we get to Barchie, who I made clear was the reason for my rewatch, so let's get to it. I LOVED the way Barchie was written in s1. I remember when I first watched Riverdale, I was curious about their dynamic but didn't put much thought into it because I loved Bughead too much and wanted them to be together, and I thought Barchie would be the traditional "first og ship" thing and wouldn't have a big follow up, but boy was I WRONG and am I GLAD for it. I'll talk more about their development in the next seasons when I get there, so for now let's focus a bit on s1. Just in like the first two episodes, there is so much Barchie foreshadowing, like, it's legit insane how it was right there in my face and I missed it the first time! "I have never felt what i'm supposed to feel with betty", "it's not my fault he doesn't like you", "I can't give you the answer you want"... Omg, those are obvious eyebrow raising "this will come back to bite you in the a$$" moments and it's incredible how they actually DO! I would call it clever writing, but like... it's Riverdale lol. So I really am just glad that the ship was done this way, i'm glad Barchie has the back story that they do, they've really come a LONG way and i'm happy I get to experience their whole growing storyline. It's also especially good because s1 actually provides you with scenes that show you their friendship and how they're so close, you see them hanging out, talking, their pictures together, everything was just really done well with them. Still have a bit of critique with the way Archie contradicted himself sometimes regardinf his feelings for Betty, but let's be honest, we've watched enough Riverdale to know that's just a problem with the writing.

- Kevin/Joaquin is still my favorite Kevin ship, i'm sad it's completely impossible to go back to them someday so for now i'll just be really glad it existed and that I got to see them even if it was short-lived. They had great chemistry and their kiss scenes always outsold.

- Beronica... sigh. Beronica. The most wasted chemistry i've ever seen on CW and I've watched a LOT of CW shows. There was so much potential there, s1 was practically overflowing with them and it's one of the reasons it became some popular. I remember when the Beronica fandom was the biggest one, ah, good times. Veronica and Betty were easily the best part of season 1, their friendship, their lowkey romantic moments, they were just superior in every way. This ship deserved better, not even just as a ship, but as a friendship.

- Veronica's s1 hair >>> Veronica's hair in seasons 2-4. I loved the side part and I am glad it's back in season 5, it looks so much better like that.

- Cheryl, as always, deserves better. Can't wait for her to meet Toni so I can watch again Cheryl finally get to love someone and be loved back, which is exactly what she deserves.

For now, that is all! I will probably make another post soon when i'm done with season one and from season two on I will be live-blogging the episodes since I will be watching it alone. Once again, pls, no hate, my thoughts are my thoughts. Peace.

It was afternoon, at this time.. Many kids were playing. Screams of joy because of hide and seek, sometimes pain because they fell and even tears or joy because they were laughing so much. But there was one little girl that wasn't in the mood for playing. She would rather read books at this time of the day, she had secretly picked out some books out of the small library of her mother. Vampires..What were they? Monsters- Bloodsuckers- Creatures of the night... The little gypsy girl was amazed by these stories but also terrified. Welcome to the world of the small Niko Riverdale.

Winter.. It was cold but fun, Niko turned six years old not long ago. She felt like she could be a adult any second. Niko loved to play as the little adult.. But to be honest, it was scary. People always had some type of disgusted look when they spotted a gypsy, and it was like this everywhere. But on the possitieve side.. Some people could be nice and accept them, even enjoy they're dances. A gypsy was never meant to have a bad view.. Being a gypsy was seen as some kind of culture too. The priest always said that God hates gypsy's.. That if you were one, that a spirit will haunt you.. Kill you.. Destroy you. All kids from Niko's age knew the dark reality already, God? Hah.. When did God help? That's what they were thinking.. But Niko thought otherwise, she believes that God is good.

-"Mom.. Why do people hate us?"

Niko was holding the hand of her mother while they were walking back home. Reading hour was finished and Niko had hidden those vampire themed books in her bag before her mother got to see it.

-"Ah.. Don't worry about that honey.. You know.. In this world there are people that can hate you without a good reason.. That is why we need to be strong."

Her mother had felt some un-easy feeling.. Excactly, why did people hate them? She didn't know the answer herself... She held the hand of her daughter slightly tighter, they would go to the cathedral before getting back home. She entered the building and went to the small praying spot that was there. She looked at her daughter, she would need to pick a different one.. Niko went to the Maria statue that wasn't too far away from her mother.

-"My God.. I'm here to ask you questions.. I hope that I don't bother you at this moment but..Do you hate me? Or my mom..? My gypsy people..? You know.. Today some kids didn't want to play with me.. They're parents didn't want that.. Even if it was my birtday.. Hmph.. And God, I'm 6 years old now.. That's a lot, right? Hehe.. Will you please answer me..? I now pray this in the name of our saviour. Amen.."

Niko did the quick cross sign before walking back to her mother, that seemed to have finished her praying. Niko held the hand of her mother.. Did God hear her? Will she get the message..? Who knows.. Maybe God, had a surprise.

After getting home, having dinner and having a bath.. Niko was relaxed and ready to read some more about the nocturnal horror creatures.. Curiousity really killed the cat.. And Niko was clearly the cat in this example. The moon was up.. The beautifull blue moon that shinned in Niko's room, Niko could observe those beautifull night skies forever.. She didn't realise that is was already 2 AM, Niko would be in trouble if her parents found out that she was still up.

But strangely a sound ruined the silence.. Crying.. Rather disturbing. A fenale voice? Calling out for help but it all sounded like a echo. For a kid this could be creepy looking, but for Niko.. She was worried.. Not about that sudden visit in her house of a crying voice but she was actually concerned about the feelings of the person.. Did they need to escape? Was there a killer outside? No.. Not at all. Niko got out her room and walked down the hallway.. The wood plancs made a creak sound. The more Niko approached.. The more the crying became louder. She could see now.

A woman with pretty long white hair was sitting on her knees on the floor. Her clothing was white too- She also had some kind of long blue see-through scarf, she also had white gloves, pretty ones that people always wore when they were from a rich family.. Her skin was pale, as pale as porcelin.

-"Umm.. Miss..? What's wrong? What is happening..? Are you hurt..?"

Niko was a child with good manners but it was kinda weird.. How did that woman come in? The door was locked, the windows too.. Who was this woman? Or what is she? The crying didn't stop but when Niko placed her hand on the shoulder of the beauty, then she turned around and held Niko's shoulders tightly.

-"Where is h-he?! WHERE IS HE?! I NEED HIM-?! MY CHILD.. HAVE YOU SEEN MY CHILD?! AHHHH!!!? I WANT HIM BACK! I WANT HIM BACK?! HE NEEDS TO BE FIXED.. HE NEEDS TO BE HAPPY!! WHERE IS HE?! AHHH?!!?? TELL-?! TELL MEEEE AAHHHH!?!"

Niko felt paralyzed.. A random woman just came here and was finding her child.. Her child is broken? He needs to be fixed? That woman didn't look normal at all either.. She was way too pale for a human being.. It was dead skin colour.. She had long fangs too.. And also you could see through her..? A ghost-? A spirit?! Niko's eyes were tearing up- God, can God explain?! Why don't Niko's parents hear this?! Was she crazy?! Niko just got out the grip and ran to her room and locked it, she got on her bed and hid under the covers.

-"God please.. Make it stop.. Make it stop.. I'm scared.. Don't give me to Satan.. Not the devil, I beg you.. Do you hate me? Is this my curse now?"

This was a bad experience for a child, it could be traumatizing.. Niko was praying for this to stop, but then she heard the loud banging against her door- She was screamed.. The woman was still crying and screaming.

-"FIX HIM?! YOU CAN FIX HIM!! FIND HIM!! YOU MUST FIND HIM!?? DO IT PLEASE!!!"

Niko hugged her knees, she was way too scared to say anything or open the door. Niko cried in her sleep.. In the background she could still hear the crying.. The crying of a female vampire ghost..

It was night time, a few nights have passed since that incident and that woman always kept her awake- Screaming and crying.. Niko was hidding under the covers- Hoping that it would stop soon. She held her bunny plush close, it was a white bunny with red buttons as eyes.. It clearly was a old design, but she loves it. The banging on the door soon stopped.. But it replaced with a wisper. Was Niko getting crazy? Hearing wispers in her head.. That made Niko just hug her plush tighter.

-"Go to the forest.. In the forest you'll find a mansion.. I need you to fix him.. Please"

Niko looked down- She letted out a sigh.. Even if her parents forbid her to go out at night- She would do it- Like that the nights without sleep will stop..Maybe. Niko puts on her small brown boots and then got out the house after grabbing her plushie and wearing a yellow jacket, it matched her eyes perfectly. Now, Niko got in the dark forest.. Why did she forget the flashlight?? She hugged her plush tighter.

-"It's you and me mister carrots.. We will finish this.."

You could hear in Niko's voice that she was scared- She planned to get back home and get the flashlight.. But it already was too late- Her house wasn't visible anymore. Was she lost-? Niko started to tear up, she felt stressed and she could sense that there was danger close by. Niko didn't trust the sound of breaking twigs and leafes that were being crushed.. Without further hesitation, she started to run- She didn't care that she could see nothing- Her mind told her to run. And she was lucky that she started running now, because the hungry wolves were out now, howling and groaning, they wanted the eady prey that was there now.. And the prey was Niko. A girl her size and her age was as easy as catching a mouse.

-"HELP!! PLEASE SOMEBODY!! WOLVES!! HELP!!"

Niko was screaming while running- But nobody was there to save her- But God must have heard her wish.. The mansion- It was there- Right infront of her! Niko quickly openned the door and got in. She heard the wolves outside, they were howling and sniffing where she was hidding. There was a moment of silence soon.. Were they gone? Niko peeked through the window to see if those carnivores were still there and it seemed that they dessapeared.

-"Hehe!! No dinner for you guys!"

Niko giggled happily, she was happy to stay alive- But soon after her short victory dance, she felt something.. No.. Someone behind her- She gulped and then slowly turned her head to see a tall man.. His eyes were some type of dark pink and his hair was purple- He also was wearing glasses. Niko stepped back as her eyes were wide from how scared she was- Will he hurt her..?

-"Entering the house of someone like that is really dissrespectfull. You need to learn some manners."

The male was getting straight to the point- His expression was serious and he clearly wasn't happy with Niko's action from before. Niko quickly openned the door and ran out- This was unexpected. She never knew that someone lived there.. No wonder that it looked so clean.

The man with glasses sighed as he watched a albino with the corner ofhis eye.

-"Oh.. So you did decide to come for dinner. I am waiting for your apologize. The dinner is cold and everyone is back to their rooms."

The purple haired man walked away, slightly annoyed. He puts his gloves on in a more comfortable manner as he was walking. The albino narrowed his eyebrows as he gave off a 'tch' noise, he just got back from the garden not long ago. Who was that girl though? How did she find this hidden mansion? He wondered.. But he won't think about it too much. He went to the dinning room.

Meanwhile, Niko had ran away from the mansion.. Fear was described in her eyes. But then- Her house, she saw it.. And yet, she didn't run far away from the mansion. Magic? How? She turned around.. Only trees were seen. How in the world? The small brunnette ran quickly to her home and her parents waited for her.. Crying tears of relief and ordering her to never ever do that again but.. Will she keep that promise-?

The sound of the flutes and tambourines filled the streets, the gypsy's were there.. And it seemed that Niko and her sisters were the ones to dance. The same thing happened once again, for some the disgusted look and for some others there was the look of enjoyement. The gypsies how flexible and gracious moves- They always had a beautifull performance in mind. After the dance performance, niko and her sisters earned some money.. They will use this for food and clothing... And for Niko's mother, Rei. She was doing fortune telling to get money for the small house that they have.

The golden eyes of the brunnette spotted a animal..A cat..A white one to be specefic. She stared at it for quite a while- The cat looked at Niko and purred before walking away. Niko sighed a bit as she furrowed her eyebrows. Then Niko realised that her siblings were already going back home- She better quickly catch up with them.. Niko openned the door of the house and watched her father, he was laying on his usual dark blue couch.. She sighed and went to him, seeing that he was sleeping for bow. Niko smiled softly and puts a blanket over her father.. You could sleep better if you were cozy and warm. Niko remembered that she needed to handle something quick- She went to the door and openned it.

-"Where are you going?"

Her big brother John saw that she was planning to leave..Even if it was almost dinner time. He placed the wood in the fire, it was spring and yet it felt like it was still winter.

-"I'm going to the church.. I'll be back home soon though, see ya..!"

Niko got out once more and step by step made her way to the holy building..To be honest, the church was scary.. All dark colours and paintings of suffering- Even some god statues were scary. But Niko always felt much calmer when she saw the Maria statue. She closed her eyes and held her hands together.

-"God.. It is already nine years and three months that this ghost is haunting me.. The cries, they scare. Please help me..Give me a sign to freedom. In the name of our saviour. Amen.."

Niko could not live forever with this kind of ghost that visits her each night. Each time begging to save her child more specefictly her son.. What was this all about? She letted out a sigh- A sad one.. A concerned one. Was this all in her head? Was Niko getting crazy? Her parents and siblings didn't realky believe her.. Her mother did but she didn't know what to do. She rubbed her forehead and just went back home after doing the little cross sign. Niko really believed that god exists.. That someone is watching you.. Sins, Actions, Desires..Wishes. It was scary and yet so releaving in her opinion. After having dinner and a family talk, it was time to prepare for bed. Niko took a shower to refresh herself, she brushed her teeth, got in a fresh nightgown and then finnaly got in bed.

Niko knew what will be going on tonight, she just hoped that it will stop. Each time, she repeats that hope. 12 pm.. It's almost time, Niko's eyes stayed open- She probably won't be able to sleep this night again. This was a punishement.. Was it really though? Niko didn't know but it was horrible to go through.

-"Go..Go.. Go back to the mansion.. He needs you.. You need to make him happy. Please. That's my only wish.."

-"W-Why can't you just leave me alone?"

-"Go..Go.. Go back to the mansion.. He needs you.. You need to make him happy. Please. That's my only wish.."

This repeated over and over again. Niko tried to get a other answer but it still was the same the "Go..Go.. Go back to the mansion.. He needs you.. You need to make him happy. Please. That's my only wish.." was always repeating. Niko had enough, she will go back there, early in the morning to not get wolves or other wild animals after her.

And she really did this plan. In the morning, around 5 am, she got up and got in her red gypsy dress and she wrapped a yellow scarf around her waist, she also puts on her yellow bandana after that she had brushed her long brown hair. She took a quick toast from the kitchen and frowned. She will return back home like last time, she was sure that it would happen as planned.

-"Let's get done with this"

Niko mumbled after getting out and going to the forest. Niko could see now where she was going. It wasn't dark, it was sunny already. The brunnette tried to find the mansion, but it was nowhere to be seen. It really annoyed her, she wanted to not be haunted by that woman anymore, she didn't want to struggle anymore with it. This was going to be the end. Did she really need to wish for the mansion to appear out of nowhere??

Niko ran through the bushes but that caused her to trip, she shook her head and got up after wiping some of the dirt away. But then.. When she lifted her eyes back up to normal. It was there- The mansion that she searched for for hours long. Niko stepped towards the gates-

Niko gulped when the gates went open on it's own. This was..Magic? No way. She must be dreaming. Niko slapped her cheeks with her hands.

-"Gah.. Niko-chan.. Wake uppppp..! Owie-"

Niko stopped slapping her cheeks and took a big inhale before taking the courage to enter the territory of the mansion. A certain stress overwhelmed Niko, it was uncomfortable... As if she was going in some type of haunted mansion. The crows were watching Niko, some letting out their loud bird noises.. These type of birds were mostly around graveryards. Which made this give more of a creepy atmosphere. Niko knocked on the door and waited- She learned last time that shouldn't just enter a house/mansion out of nowhere.. But hey she had no other choice. Niko saw that the door openned.. But weirdly nobody was behind it. Anyone would be running away from this already..No? Niko would have loved to do that but she really wanted to get the spirit away from her. So- Niko got in and looked around..

-"Helloo?? Someone here..? Uh.."

Niko wanted to check first of course. And yet, there was no reply.. Maybe they weren't home? The brunnette wanted to know what the woman meant. 'Make him happy' 'Fix him' 'He needs you', her only wish. The spirit meant a person? Of course- Niko facepalmed. The brunnette still felt that same uncomfortable feeling, that feeling of being watched. This place wasn't safe.. It wasn't safe at all!! Niko had shivers running down her spine. Blood.. Blood running down the walls, Niko's visions made her think that.. This mansion.. It had bad secrets.. Secrets that nobody should ever know about.

Run..

Niko's mind kept telling her to run. Run for your life. Run for you freedom before-

Niko had ran back to the front door, it won't open?! No no- This wasn't the plan. God, what did Niko end up into?! Tears ran down her cheeks as fear took her over once more, was she trapped? Was this a prank??

Niko felt a hand on her shoulder.. She hesitated to look behind, but after some seconds she did. A albino man, right there..Glaring down at her with his intimidating look. Niko could not take it anymore.. She fainted. The man catched her in time and groaned.

Run for your freedom before it's too late..

It's too late...

He snarled when he saw her exposed neck with her black chocker necklace. He seemed to hold back something- He seemed to control it for now. The man openned his lips to speak out his words;

Anderson runs his hands through his hair, resting them on the back of his head, taking a deep breath.

He looks at the files on his desk, pursing his lips as his eyes switch between the three uneven stacks.

He lowers his hands, hesitating for a second before he picks up the open file.

The door opens, and Anderson watches Minetta storm into the room.

'Come in,' he sighs, dropping the file on the smallest stack.

'Who the hell are you?' Minetta grunts.

'James Anderson. Your new deputy.'

'I didn't know I needed a new one,' Minetta snarks, crossing his arms.

'I was told two of them quit,' James comments. 'Actually, I was told a lot of people here quit.'

Minetta sighs as he sits down.

'Well, welcome, I guess,' he says.

'But I'd appreciate it if you first meet with me before you decide to take files to your office,' Minetta states.

'I wasn't in the mood to wait for three hours,' Anderson replies. 'And it turns out I really needed those three hours,' he adds, gesturing to the stacks on his desk.

'Dare I ask why?'

James rests his elbows on the desk, his hands intertwined.

'The Council isn't so happy,' he starts. 'They haven't been since sheriff Keller messed up the investigation of the Black Hood, and the mayor promised you'd be better. But then "Riot Night" happened. So, they sent me.'

As Paramore said: “you are the only exception” No I will not elaborate.

“‘S’cuse me, comin’ through!” Maisie yelled as she raced through the corridors, adrenaline pumping through her veins, trying to get through a crowd of students, “Make way!”

She was almost at the end of the corridor when she ran straight into her best friend, Bennett, because she was too distracted looking over her shoulder.

Bennett toppled over first, Maisie following right after her. Bennett had fallen onto her bum, with Maisie sprawled across her lap.

“Merlin, Maisie,” Bennett clutched Maisie’s head, keeping it from hitting the ground, “What on Earth are you doing?”

Maise scrambled up quickly, extending a hand to Bennett to help her up, “I stole a… love potion… from Alena Foster’s… supply,” Maisie said, in between deep breaths, “She sent Malfoy and his goons after me. I think I’ve lost them.”

“A love potion?” Bennett raised her eyebrows, “For who?”

Maisie just smirked, “Dunno yet. Maybe Annie? Get her to shut up about Wood for five minutes.”

Bennett gave Maisie a look, “You know she’d hex you to England and back.”

“Not if she was infatuated with me, she wouldn’t.” Maisie winked. Her eyes suddenly went wide as she looked over Bennett’s shoulder, and she pocketed the love potion immediately.

“What’s that in your pocket, Barker?” Fred Weasley asked as he sauntered up to them, George beside him.

“Wouldn’t you like to know?” Maisie teased, trying to play it cool.

“I do believe that’s why I asked, yes,” Fred crossed his arms over his chest, a cheeky grin spreading onto his face, “Give us a peek.”

Maisie didn’t notice George sneaking behind the girl, a finger on his lips so Bennett wouldn’t say anything.

Maisie had realized what George was doing too late, and he pickpocketed her with ease.

“Damn you, George Weasley,” Maisie stomped her foot as George dangled the small bottle in front of her.

“Is that a love potion I see?” Fred started to tease, “Who’s the unlucky lad? Or lady? You know I don’t judge.”

“Oh, shut up, you,” Maisie crossed her arms, turning her nose up at the twins, “It’s none of your business.”

“Awfully secretive, Barker…” Fred tutted, taking the bottle from his twin and looking it over, “Is this for me? Do you loooove me, Barker?”

Maisie felt herself blush from head to toe, but she let out a scoff, rolling her eyes, “You wish.”

Fred just stared at her, a smirk on his face.

“If you must know,” Maisie yanked the bottle from Fred’s hand before he could react, “Alena Foster annoyed me today, so I stole one of her best sellers, and that’s all, thank you.”

“Whatever you say, Barker,” Fred’s smirk was spreading wider by the second, “I know you want a piece of this,” He gestured at his entire body, chuckling and dodging as Maisie tried to punch his arm.

“Oh, I’m gonna get a piece of you, alright!” Maisie yelped and raced toward Fred, who took off in the opposite direction, cackling as Maisie chased after him.

George just snickered quietly, wrapping an arm around Bennett, “Maybe one day they’ll figure it out.”

“Those two?” Bennett giggled softly, “I suppose we’ll see.”

“We can only hope.”

I love Maisie, I love Maisie, I love Maisie. She’s so funky and fun and playful. She’s also so sweet and caring and charismatic. Go give her some love!!!

Jughead Jones just had his very first book release party and spent the night celebrating with his beautiful wife Betty. 

As he watches her removing her jewelry, he can’t help but stare at her and appreciate the fact that he is so lucky to be the one who gets to love her. He doesn’t know what he did to deserve it, but he knows he is never letting it go.

Jughead Jones can vividly remember the first time he’d laid eyes on his wife, Betty. 

He was a scared little boy from the rough side of town that no one wanted and she was pure sunbeams with pigtails that everyone loved. 

They were actually in the same kindergarten class at Riverdale Elementary School along with Archie Andrews, who he knew because their Dad's were best friends.

That first day at recess, Jughead sat alone under the shade of a tree when he heard the voice of an angel.

"Can I sit with you?" He looked up to see Betty, clutching a book to her chest and twisting the toe of her patent leather shoes in the dirt.

He agreed and smiled when she shared her snack with him. From that day on, they were the best of friends.

He could remember the day he realized he had a crush on Betty. 

He was 12 years old the day that Gladys Jones packed up her bags, along with his 7 year old sister, and took off to Toledo while Jughead was at school. He didn't even find out until later that night after coming home from Pop's.

She left him a note saying she loved him but that he was too much of a reminder of FP. The way he looked, his sarcastic attitude, even his temper. They were all traits from his father. 

Secretly Jughead believed that it had more to do with the fact that she blames him for being trapped with FP for so long. Had he never been born, her life would be different.

He ran to the only person who he knew he could trust. Betty. He ran as fast as he could, sneaking quietly up the trellis beside her window, peaking in before he knocked.

Betty turned, grinning until she saw the tears in Jughead's eyes. She threw her window open, dragging him inside and checking him over to see if he was hurt.

"Juggie? What's wrong? Are you hurt? You're scaring me," she whispered, cupping his cheeks as she wiped his tears.

"She left me behind, Betts. She took Jelly but she left me behind," he sniffled, handing her the letter. He watched tears spring to her eyes as she read the words, his heart breaking even more.

"Oh, Juggie," she choked.

"Why wasn't I enough, Betts?" Jughead sobbed as he crumbled into Betty's arms. 

"Shhh, it's ok Jug, you're enough. This is not on you, this is on her, she's wrong Juggie," Betty lifted his head from her chest, wiping away his tears.

"To me, you will always be enough," she whispered, kissing him on his forehead before clinging to him again.

He remembers the day he first realized he was in love with Betty Cooper. 

He had been dragged into the sheriff's station for questioning on Jason Blossom's murder and he was terrified.

His Dad had shown up late and drunk, causing a scene in front of Betty and the two Andrews men, but finally relenting and telling Jug he would be better off with Fred for awhile.

That night he snuck over to see Betty. When he climbed up the ladder he found her sitting on her bed in tiny shorts and a t-shirt. She smiled when she saw him and waved him inside.

"Are you sure your parents won't catch us?" Jughead asked worriedly.

"Dad is at a conference in Greendale and Mom is on an all night stake out at Pop's, hoping to catch more illegal dealings," Betty smiled, kissing him softly. "It's just us tonight."

They spend the evening talking, cuddling, and making out pretty hot and heavy. When Betty hesitating caught his attention, he pulled back to see something brewing in her eyes: lust.

"Juggie, I want more. Maybe not everything, but I want to make you feel good. I want us to go a little further, please," Jughead swallowed, nodding as he watched her crawl down his body and slowly undo his pants.

"Just relax, Jug. I will make you feel so good," she whispered before bringing him to ecstasy several times that night. 

He finally fell asleep spooning the beautiful blonde goddess and he knew he loved her more than anything else.

There had been several more days of realization for him: when he knew he wanted her to move in and when he knew he wanted to propose, but today trumped all other days for them.

Jughead had spent the majority of the day in a near panicked state. That night was the release of his first book and he was terrified. He knew that he had the most capable agent in the world, his beautiful wife Betty Jones, but he was still freaked out. 

He'd tried writing, working out, hell even one of those fancy bubble baths that Betty always raved about but nothing seemed to be working. He was super nervous and with Betty running around getting things ready, she wouldn't be home until after.

He really appreciated everything Betty did for him in his everyday life. She kept him sane and completed his heart. He'd felt bad the last few weeks because she'd been working so hard that she was making herself sick and it worried him.

It wasn't until he'd seen her at the party, looking elegant as always while still making the night run smoothly, did he actually start to breathe.

He watched her smile at him, that smile that was just for him, and got to thinking again about how lucky he was to have her. She was the best thing in his life and he wouldn't have made it this far without her.

After the party, as he watched her remove her jewelry, he couldn’t help but stare at her and appreciate the fact that he is so lucky to be the one who gets to love her. He doesn’t know what he did to deserve it, but he knows he's never letting it go.

"Dance with me?" He says, locking eyes  with her in the mirror. She spun around, smiling as she started her playlist and swirled around their bedroom together. She stopped after a minute and smiled slyly.

"Wait here, I have something for you," she ran over to her dresser, pulling out a thin square box with a ribbon. The tag read 'To My Favorite Author'.

"What's this?" He smiled.

"Just open it, Juggie," she beamed, biting the side of her lip. He slowly untied the ribbon, lifting the lid off the box and gasping as tears filled his eyes.

"Betts? Is this?" Jughead whispered, tears now cascading down his cheeks and smiling when he sees the same look on Betty's face.

In the box was a framed black and white picture of what looked like a tiny bean with a note attached to it.

'You may be Mommy's favorite author, but to me, you'll always be my favorite everything. Can't wait to meet you, Daddy! Love - Bean'
