reference the dang meme. I don't just mean send an icon of the meme, but also add which meme it came from, be it a link or the title of the meme, or both. I'm not one to reply things directly at times, hell I bet most of you probably know that from me already. The reason why RP meme asks that were sent but don't get answered by me is because I don't remember which meme it came from and it sucks. Might've been a very fun meme that I would really enjoy to reply but can't because I've not only get to it at the time when it's been sent but when I finally get to it I forgot what meme it came from and it SUCKS. Add a reference to the meme for those who don't reply often. And yes I'm calling myself out cause I do that too and I need to learn not to do it.
I still miss a few old fandoms/muses from old fandoms I hope I'm not alone in this but god does it feel like people don't look back on old fandoms after they've moved to another one or keep roleplaying in the fandom. It makes some fandoms that used to be great end up being dead and that just saddens me. Yes I may sound like an old record, but I really wish that all fandoms still exist, especially in the RP-ing community. There's probably a lot of muses that people would enjoy interacting with, be it on tumblr or on discord or anywhere else, regardless of the fandom they came from. Of course I have some fandoms that I wish it will return and hell I've even added tags from those fandoms to the tag tracker and not a single one showed up as 1 or +1 and it saddens me. But that's life for ya, huh? Just some fandoms go dead after a new fandom comes. Of course I might be a broken record for saying this, but I really hope the Maplestory fandom returns on tumblr-- or hell, the Elsword fandom too for that matter. But until then, guess I can only hope... P.S please ask Joy to bring his A.B back I enjoyed the interactions a lot when I was able to do it--

Quick Thoughts on Elsword
I’m slowly getting back into Elsword after about 2-ish years and a lot has changed. We got a new character in Noah, we got 4th Path jobs coming to the scene, and it seems we got a new style of progression that let’s you blitz through the early and mid game. I’ve got some nagging issues here and there, but overall I’ve been enjoying my time with the game so far. Everything is about as kinetic and fast as I remember it and then some. But before I decide to make another essay on the matter here are some of my quick thoughts on the game so far:
Like I said, the progression has been very streamlined, and honestly for the better. I’m running around with a new Rena and after not even 2 hours I was already around level 60.
I was hearing a lot of complaints and issues about customer support a few months back, but I was able to get access to my old steam account back online after politely explaining and discussing things with the support staff. I think people just don’t understand how to be polite and direct about things.
I’m still holding to the opinion that running Anemos as a PVE class is the embodiment of suffering, but her current run of skills and playstyle makes the PVE aspect much more approachable compared to a few years ago.
I’ve dabbled a little with the latest Fourth Job, Code: Antithese, and I think the KoG team is trying to over correct the late-game process with her. She’s too good at everything, and I’ve her a similar complaint toward Elsword’s fourth Job as well, but more on that for a later day.
The cash shop is very different than how it was a few years ago and it’s left me wondering how KoG makes money with this game, because costumes and flair items in the traditional sense of a few years ago isn’t it. And that has me... concerned as a consumer.
The game overall has a big focus on late-game/endgame content. Given how old this game is that’s understandable, but I won’t say much until I get to that end game.
I’ve played through a bit of the story and I still hold to the opinion that the main storyline isn’t that great or interesting, but I’ll also say it gets better during and after the Elysion section.
The English voice acting isn’t that bad, you guys are just mean, but I’ll probably talk more about this at a later date.
And that’s about it as far as my quick thoughts and opinions go, but since I got back into things right as 4th Path are starting to become a thing...
Allen’s 4th Path Predictions
Aisha: Physical class, combo-heavy, PVP focused sword mage in a similar vein Immortal. Uses Dark El to summon swords and decides to train her body to keep up physically with the others. Not an evil class, but a harder road for a mage to follow.
Rena: Magical class, close-quarters combat specialist using dark-elf magic instead of wind to augment her body. Chloe-light. Decides to use her experience in the Shadow Forest to imitate the dark elves of the past, using the Dark El and magic-embued kicks to defeat her enemies. May or may not be the evil path.
Raven: Physical class, support character that uses supporting Nasod bots to buff the party. Decides to use his Nasod arm as a test subject for other Nasod enhancements and improve his human body and support the others with heal bots and combat units. Prime Operator-light. May or may not turn into an android at the end of the path.
Chung: Physical class, dark guardian that uses the Dark El in a similar vein to his father. Has more control than his father and probably isn’t corrupted as a result (but is a lot edgier though).  EXTREMELY tanky and hits hard at the cost of zero support ability. Maybe loses health for self-buffs like Nova Imperator to balance their insane DPS.
Ara: Magical Class, kung fu fighter that outright rejects Eun’s power to cultivate chi and improve herself internally. Loses her fox awakening in exchange for high magic damage and self-buffs that make her very strong when the buffs activated, but only for a limited time.
Elesis: Magical class, accepts her fate as the El Lady’s next host, but uses that power as a warrior instead of a sacrifice. Becomes a living goddess at the cost of her humanity. High magic damage and good support buffs.
Add: LOL I DON’T KNOW ADD SHIT Physical class, Add accepts he can’t go back in time and instead focuses on making this current timeline a place worth living in. Antithesis (HAH!) to his Mad Paradox path that focuses on buffing and supporting the party with Nasod creations.
Lu/Ciel: Magical class, Ciel focused and a reverse on their Diangelion path. Ciel grows so overprotective of Lu that he siphons her demon powers and replaces her as the next Demon Lord and run it from the shadows. Lu in turns goes from Underworld Demon Princess to Underground Mafia Princess, manipulating Ciel just enough to keep him from doing true harm to their friends. Also Lu gets black hair, I’m calling it now. Focus on long-range magic attacks, Lu getting a tiny gunblade/knife since she lost her demon powers.
Ain: LOL I DON’T KNOW AIN SHIT Physical class, loses his free will due to his lack of progressing with his mission and becomes a puppet to his goddess. Becomes a shell of himself, manipulated by the gods and gains tremendous power at the cost of his free will. The a bad-end version of his Richter path. High DPS class at the cost of little supporting ability.
Laby: Magical class, Laby and Nisha fuse and become one being again. Laby can balance positive and negative emotions and switch between a Laby and Nisha form via the awakening system. Plays like a similar Lu/Ciel.
Noah: Magical class, Noah decided to give Clamor a second chance at life after being forced to die and revive time and time again, switching their souls and deciding to live within the sickle while Clamor takes over Noah’s body. Magical-heavy class, though Clamor can’t fully utilize his abilities in Noah’s more physical focused body. A play off Laby’s Nisha Labyrinth Path.
Okay, that’s enough fun playing around with fanfiction. I’m gonna’ sign off now and start drafting out that essay for next week.

Read the Air; It’s Hot Alright
Ain x reader
Warning: long
Tumblr media
drawn by @21andree10 on Instagram
(y/n) let out a sigh of relief as they sunk into the lukewarm water. They were truly blessed to stumble across hot springs which they could have all to themselves. It was their night to relax and get rid of all the stress from battle… The El gang was quite exhausting to be around sometimes, especially since there weren’t any peaceful moments; every single person had a thing to complain about or start a fight for no reason.
Their thoughts were suddenly interrupted by another figure stepping into the water. Mind racing, they thought who could it have possibly been? No one dared use the mixed hot springs because they didn't want to deal with the opposite sex- but there it was, some possible predator stepping all over their territory.
“Ah, (Mr/Ms) Thief. I didn't know you'd be here as well,” Ain greeted with the ever-present smile. Turns out it was just the oblivious priest invading their space.
They didn't bother giving him another glance as he sunk most of his body into the water. It was impossible to comprehend why he didn't choose the other side of the bath; it was already tiny enough. An awkward silence followed, (y/n) blowing bubbles out of boredom while Ain closed his eyes as if to meditate. For the first time ever, he wore a peaceful expression in front of another living being.
“(Mr/Ms) Thief,” they groaned, “if you don't mind me asking, what is the point of those ‘hot springs’?” *bubbles stop*
(y/n) stared at him bewildered, but they didn't ask if he was joking; he never did anyway. They sighed and gathered all their intellect to answer the question as seriously as possible.
“Well, you see… hot springs… help you relax.”
“?”
“The water… you get in it… it feels good???”
“...I’m afraid I don’t quite understand.”
“Aaaah, how can you not get it?? Just shut up and relax in the water!” flailing their arms around, they missed one crucial detail…
“(Mr/Ms) Thief, it seems your towel slid off a bit.” they covered themselves instantly as a blush quickly formed on their cheeks.
“You didn’t see anything.”
“...Alright.” he didn’t pursue the subject further, which (y/n) was very thankful for. After a short while of mildly awkward silence, they took it upon themselves to break the quiet atmosphere since it was getting unbearable.
“Anyway, why do you keep calling me (Mr/Ms) Thief?? It’s not gonna take long for me to feel insulted, y'know?”
“I don’t mean it as a derogatory term, of course. Yet, when we met, you tried to swipe all of our food during an expedition in Sander… I still don’t understand Elsword’s decision to take you in.”
“Wow. Just wow. I’m not talking to you anymore.”
“Did I say something out of line? If so, I apologize.” his unwavering smile diagnosed (y/n) with a severe case of pouting.
“Aren’t priests supposed to be more social? It’s like you came from another world!”
“...Is that so?”
“You don’t even know what hot springs are!! How can I possibly believe you’re human?!” his passive aggressive expression told (y/n) something they weren't supposed to know…
“I’m gonna pretend you didn’t make that face and change the subject.”
“That would be most wise, (Mr/Ms) Thief. If I were you I wouldn’t speak about a secret this important.”
“Wait wh- Holy- You’re not actually human??? That’s it, I’m not letting you drop this ‘till you tell me what you are.”
“I can’t understand how that would help you in any way.”
“It’s not about help here, it’s about what I want. So spill it or else I’m letting the whole gang know.”
“...!”
“I wonder what Elsword will have to say about our alien comrade…”
“Foolish human…” he mumbled inaudibly, quickly switching back to a smile to tell his story. “Alright, I’ll ‘spill it’, as you said. I was sent on a mission by Goddess Ishmael-”
“Hold on a minute, Goddess? And Ishmael as well?? Don’t tell me, or are you the El Lady too?!”
“...I feel as if you’re mocking me.”
“You’re delusional mate, there’s no way around it. Or is it a priest trick where you pretend to be God’s messenger to attract followers?”
“I truly have no words. I had no idea a mere human could cause such an offense. Convince me not to strike you down this instant for disrespecting the Goddess.” his booming voice was no match for (y/n)’s savage laughter.
“I’d like to see you try...! Come at me, pretty boy!” Ain deemed the situation not worthy to break his pendulum over and began chanting his gibberish in German. Before he could even get halfway done, (y/n) launched themselves onto him, making sure to pin Ain’s hands in place. They completely annihilated any chance he had of fighting back. After securing a dominant position, they delivered their lines.
“Here’s reason one: you’re just a pretty boy outside the battlefield, and second, would your Goddess like the idea of her messenger murdering a human? I think not.” they slowly loosened their tight grip on him as he pondered on their words. Shortly afterwards, Ain made his thoughts clear.
“I suppose I should thank you for reminding me. I lost sight of my mission and acted out of line, so I apologize.”
“...Hmm? I didn’t quite catch that.”
“(Mr/Ms) Thief, I said, you have disrespected the Goddess. An apology is in order, no?”
“Fine, fine. I am sorry for disrespecting the Goddess. There. I won’t do it again.”
“I will make sure to relay your message to the Goddess.”
After the very heated debate, silence took over. They were too tired to try anything else and just quietly accepted their predicament; being forced to share hot springs with the strange alien priest.
“Why is this a place of relaxation? It feels as if it’s an elaborate trap I’ve mistakenly stepped into,” he pondered.
“Because you’re doing it wrong, dummy.”
“Then how would the right way be?” Ain asked confused.
(y/n) didn’t respond. He waited, and waited… “You just shut up. That’s it.”
“Is that all I have to do?”
“Yes. That’s all there is to it.” making a surprised face, he processed her words. His features relaxing, Ain looked up into the night sky. It was quite late judging by all the stars visible, and he wondered what he was still doing there; resting was mandatory since heavy battles awaited them the next day, yet he was wasting time with a human nonetheless.
Light snoring interrupted his train of thought. He glanced at (y/n), only to find them in an apparently deep sleep. Ain let out a chuckle, but stopped himself midway in shock. It was too genuine for his liking, and he couldn’t comprehend why a simple gesture provoked such a reaction. Yet he felt tired as well and didn’t bother thinking about it anymore.
Ain decided to wake them up; it would be bothersome in battle if (y/n) caught a cold.
“(Mr/Ms) Thief, you should wake up.” No response. “(Mr/Ms) Thief?” they didn’t answer the next time either, so Ain was stuck on what to do. He settled for lightly shaking their shoulder, but he’d soon find out that wouldn’t be the wisest decision… once the tip of his fingers touched their bare skin, they suddenly got up, headbutting him in the process, somehow. He truly felt that and hissed in pain, while (y/n) was frantically looking around as if woken from a daze. They eyed the nearby floating towel and realized that Ain wasn’t wearing anything. Then they jumped to a conclusion.
“P E R V E R T !”
And Elesis kicked down the door.
“Whose butt do I have to kick?!”
~A thorough scolding and some misunderstandings later~
Everyone had gone to their rooms for the night, but (y/n) decided to hang around for a little while longer. The staff at the inn was more than glad to cater to all their needs and brought them a Lanox specialty; they grumpily slurped from the glass, but then thought it actually tasted pretty good. It was mostly water with a tint of exotic fruits, just like the sweet, sweet syrup they used to-
“(Mr/Ms) Thief, can I have a moment of your time?” (y/n) spat the drink, accidentally splashing their lower face with it. They glared at the cause of her misfortune.
“I was wondering if you could clarify something for me.” they grabbed their drink and started slurping loudly, while also avoiding eye contact as much as they could.
“I will take that as a yes, so I’m going to ask my question.” they spat their drink again.
“I tried so hard, and got so far, but in the end it doesn’t even matter,” they sighed. “Have a seat,” they pointed to the other side of the table.
“Sir, would you like a drink as well?” asked the waitress who just snuck up on him out of nowhere. (y/n) got a little spooked, not even their skills were that godlike.
“Of course, if you don’t mind. What would you recommend?”
“The Lanox Nectar is the best we’ve got. I’ll bring one on the house for you, sir!”
“Thank you~.” (y/n) watched the very human exchange with widened eyes.
“Is something wrong, (Mr/Ms) Thief?”
“I’m the one who should be asking that.”
“?”
“Here’s your drink, sir!”
“Gah!” (y/n) couldn’t help but lose their composure at the sight of the sneaky waitress. Once again, the wannabe thief got bested by a staff member who was just doing her job. Then she vanished and no matter how hard (y/n) would squint, there wasn’t any trace left of the mysterious girl.
“(Mr/Ms) Thief, I’d like to ask something about the hot springs today.” he didn’t even touch his drink and already got down to business. ‘Ah shit, here we go again’ they thought. “More specifically, about the way you reacted at the end.” They remembered with a somber expression the event and the excuse he dared to give: ‘It was an accident’, he said, but they didn’t buy one bit of it. They wondered why they were still hanging out with that pervert.
“Why did you shout ‘pervert’?”
“Because you are one.”
“I don’t understand why I’m a pervert, so I was wondering if you could explain.” ‘This guy’s a lunatic’, thought (y/n), but humoured him nonetheless.
“Do you really not know? Do I really have to talk to you about this? What did I do to deserve such harassment?”
“Oh, am I questioning something inappropriate? If so, I apologize.”
“Yes, it’s highly inappropriate…” then a yellow light bulb appeared above their head. “But it can’t be helped, can it? I’ll just have to explain it to you so that you won’t do it again.”
“That would be most helpful, (Mr/Ms) Thief.”
“Now, now, disclaimer (...). Here I go:
When two people share a bath together under the full moon, an ancient ritual is unleashed. The only way to prevent it from happening is for the people to wear towels. When yours fell off, I was really worried! So that’s why I shouted for help.
...Also, I forgot to mention, but only chosen people can perform the ritual correctly, and I panicked because we aren’t chosen. Get it?”
“Interesting… I never knew such a thing existed. I can’t help but wonder, what are the consequences of a ritual performed incorrectly?”
“A big explosion, of course.”
“I see now… So you were just trying to help me. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
“I understand now what Ms. Knight meant about ‘some things are just forbidden’. She was talking about the ritual going wrong, no?
“Yep.”
“If you don’t mind me asking-” Before he could finish his sentence, they got up and spoke.
“It was really nice talking to you Ain, but it is really, really late so I would like to go to sleep. Good night!”
“Ah, you’re right. May we resume this discussion another time?”
“Of course, of course! Good night!!”
“Have a good night as well, (Mr/Ms) Thief.”
There were only so many brain cells a person could afford to lose.
~to the beds, onwards we go~
(y/n) stared blankly at the ceiling, endless minutes of shuffling around having just passed. They usually slept like a log, but something wasn’t right this time. A bad feeling lingered in the air, and no matter how much they tried to shrug it off it was still there.
Inevitably, they got up and groaned. It was their duty to check for possible intruders; or at least that’s what (y/n) told themselves. They reached out for the emergency pocket knife, only to find it was gone.
Then, anger took over. Nobody dared swipe their weapons like that, and if they did, they’d have to speak to the unholy pair of fists (y/n)’s got.
Silent footsteps right outside the room made their ears perk up. They prepared a fighting stance, ready to face the intruder head on. By literally headbutting them.
The door opened suddenly. (y/n) didn’t waste a single second and grabbed the other person’s shoulders, striking in full force. They were more than ready to pin them down-
“Ahh, (Mr/Ms) Thief… This is the second time today. I see you’re quite relentless when it comes to violence,” he rubbed his head in an attempt to alleviate the pain. “I may not be as weak as a human, but I still take damage.”
“Ain?! What are you doing in my room this late at night? And without knocking, no less???”
“Was I supposed to knock?”
“YES. What if you had walked in and found me naked or something…”
“But you said the ritual can only fail when two people share a bath together under the full moon. Did I hear it wrong?”
“Ugh… Just stop talking.”
“Either way, I didn’t come here for nothing. I sensed… demons.” his expression darkening as he spoke.
“Ooh, that makes sense! Hey, hey…” she approached him and whispered quietly, “Do you think those demons you’re talking about snuck into my room and stole my weapons?”
“There is no doubt in my mind. Such filth....” his eyes spelled ‘anger’ and his mouth shouted ‘murder’. Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, there was someone else who thought the same.
“Then let’s go give them a piece of my fists.”
~one sneaking montage later~
“Do you think this is their room?” spoke (y/n), their eyes glittering in excitement.
“I’m not certain.”
“Then we’re about to find out.”
“About to find out what?” they jumped into a clumsy stance, startled by Ciel’s sudden interruption. Ain just glared and mumbled inaudible insults.
“You’re making quite the ruckus in the middle of the night. Did you need something from Lu and I?” just then, (y/n) noticed Ciel was carrying a tray full of freshly baked cookies.
“Ooooh, can I have some?” Ain glared at them repulsed.
“How can you talk so casually to this… to this-!”
“Pretty please? Just ignore him, by the way, he’s stupid.”
“!”
“I made them for Lu, so…” staring into their puppy eyes, he sighed. “Alright, you can have one. But only one.”
“Thank youuuuu!” they squealed in delight while grabbing a cookie. “...You didn’t hear anything.”
“Don’t worry, your secret’s safe with me,” he chuckled.
(y/n) very rarely got to eat sweets, so holding one in their own two hands they couldn’t help but study every inch of it. Drooling at the chocolate chip, their eyes turned into glittering stars. Ciel smiled at the sight; but just as they were about to take a bite…
Ain slapped it out of their hand.
The other two gasped, but (y/n) didn’t hesitate to kneel on the floor and stuff it into their mouth. The guys watched in shock, while their taste buds were assaulted by heavenly flavors.
After an uncomfortable silence accompanied only by chewing noises, (y/n) got up and faced Ciel, her tone turning dopey.
“Thank you! I love you! Welcome to the team!”
“Thanks…?” Ciel was stuck between feeling flattered or repulsed by what he just witnessed.
“Sorry for suspecting you of stealing my weapons! I didn’t know you made such good cookies… heheh…”
“(Mr/Ms) Thief, that’s no way to behave around a demon. Cease at once.”
“Shut ep, grumpy face. I know just what you need… you need a cookie.”
“...What?”
“Cieeeeeel, can I get a cookie for Ain too?”
“Um, sure?” Ciel was still in shock and couldn’t think too much. The thief snickered evilly.
“Eat the cookie, Ain.”
“Preposterous.
“I’m gonna force you to eat it.”
“Stay away from me.” he glared at the cookie revolted, hoping that it would disappear. Instead, (y/n) extended their hand.
“Say aah~” before he could slap the cookie away, they attempted to kick him as hard as possible. Unfortunately, the attack was too heavy and they fell on their butt immediately afterwards. “Oof!”
Ain kneeled before them to check if they were unharmed.
“heheh… *hic*”
“(Mr/Ms) Thief, are you alright?” he could only watch as their smile got bigger and their movements dizzier. Ain had no clue about what could've possibly happened, since he'd never witnessed such strange behaviour before. ‘Is this a human function I was not aware of…?’ he thought.
“Did she drink something this evening?” Ciel inquired, but Ain leered.
“I didn't give you permission to speak to me like that, demon.”
“I'm not too happy about that either, but (y/n) doesn't seem well. Do you want to help them or not?”
If it had been any other person, Ain would have refused without even thinking about it; yet looking more attentively at (y/n)’s dopey face, something just wouldn't let him leave them like that.
“...I'll let it slide just this once.” all the softness drained from his face, he glared disgusted at Ciel. His hatred ran deep, despite the situation at hand.
“We should carry them to their room.” spoke Ciel while putting the tray full of cookies in front of his door. The instant he stepped towards the pair, Ain wrapped his arms around their shoulders as to shield them while aggressively staring Ciel down.
“...Or maybe you should carry them.” he backed away in realization.
“Ooh, are we hugging? Do you like me?” Ain forgot that the thing he held close was actually sentient. With a click of his tongue, he avoided their hopeful gaze, which brought upon a great disaster to the land of Elrios.
Incoherent bawling echoed loudly through the whole inn. Tears spilled like waterfalls from (y/n)’s eyes who was rubbing at them like a little child. Ain’s hands froze in mid air; it felt as if he'd just set off a bomb and he was really confused as to why. They kept going, Ciel starting to threaten the priest with his menacing gaze.
Wishing for (y/n) to be quiet already, he put a hand over their mouth, the noises now muffled. Slowly, the whining subsided and Ain almost sighed in relief before a pang of pain shot through his palm.
It was getting more and more painful, and only then did he realize that (y/n)’s teeth were sinking into his skin.
“Oh, you little f-”
“Ciel, what's with all this ruckus in the middle of the night? Where are my cookies?” Lu spoke after opening the door, a most peculiar sight entering her vision. “What have I just walked into…? Ciel, answer me this instant!”
Chuckling nervously, he replied “I'm not too sure either, Lu…”
Ain, with his hand still in (y/n)’s mouth, spat angrily “You filthy creature dare show yourself before me? Know your place and begone.”
“Huhu, how ironic of you to say that while kneeling on the ground, bested by a human!” Lu smirked, gaining the upper hand. Ain reacted by yanking his arm away from (y/n)’s grasp, making them whine and flop on their face.
Ain got up and dusted himself off: “I have business to attend to. Don’t get in my way, demon.” he snarled, to which (y/n) gasped.
“Demon? Did you just say demon?!” they spoke excitedly. “The demons took my weapons!” shouting, they then slapped themselves so hard the sound of it echoed through the whole inn. The other three watched in shock, each with a face more hilarious than the last.
Charging up their inner energy, (y/n) let out a long fierce battlecry. “You!” they pointed to Lu, “You stole my weapons!”
“What a bold accusation! I, Luciela R. Sourcream, steal a commoner’s belongings? How ridiculous. Ciel, put them in their place!”
“Lu, I think we should give them a chance to explain first.”
“...I’ll listen to you just because you baked my cookies on time.”
“They’re really good, by the way,” (y/n) spoke without thinking, making a grave mistake. The bomb was set off.
“CIEL!! How could you defile my cookies so?! I TRUSTED YOU!” whined Lu dramatically, stomping the floor with her small feet. He hurried towards her to calm the storm. While Ciel was distracted, Ain grabbed (y/n)’s hand and whispered into their ear:
“Let’s make haste.” before (y/n) could complain, Ain took them swiftly to the lobby.
They stared at him confused and more than ready to complain about the situation, yet Ain silenced (y/n) by putting a finger over their lips.
“We’ve successfully escaped the demons,” he smiled. “Now we can focus on figuring out your strange condition.”
“There’s nothing to figure out…” they grabbed his hand and moved it away from their face. “Anyway, it was that drink’s fault! It tasted weird,” spoke (y/n), quite proud of themselves.
“I see… Do you have any ideas where we could start?” Ain inquired with his eyebrows raised.
“Hmmm… I feel like I’m missing something…” they rubbed their chin as if a beard was there,” OH! I know! That girl who served our drinks! The blondie with the ponytail, remember?!”
“There was someone like that? I didn’t even notice.”
(y/n) opened their mouth to remind him of the event, but a gut feeling told them it would be futile to do so. ‘There is also another matter to take care of’, they thought.
“That girl stole my weapons! And drugged me! That’s it, I’m gonna go look for her. She better pray for her life.”
“Ah, an occasion to spread the word of Ishmael. How wonderful,” he beamed.
“Ain, no, you stay right here ‘till I’m done. It was a figure of speech anyway…”
“?” visibly confused, he prepared to ask what (y/n) meant by that, only to notice them stomping towards the counter.
“I would like to speak to the manager.” with a booming voice, they slammed their hand on the wooden surface to attract attention. Staring the girl into the eye, they noticed her blonde hair, tied into a ponytail.
“IT’S YOU!” they pointed,”You’re the one who drugged my drink!” The girl looked right, then left. Finally, she stated in a deadpan tone, “Ah, shit.”
In less than a second, she was gone from (y/n)’s sight and sprinting towards the employees’ back door.
“Excuse me?! I’m not done with you, you little wh*re, I’M TELLING THE MANAGER AND YOU’LL GET FIRED AND YOU’LL HAVE NIGHTMARES FOREVER OF THE DAY I RUINED YOUR LIFE-” shouting more nonsense, they tried jumping over the counter to chase her but a certain priest stopped her just in time.
“That’s not an appropriate way to behave, (Mr/Ms) Thief.”
“And that’s not an appropriate way to tell me my ways are not appropriate.”
“You’re quite childish, aren’t you?” he chuckled. All of (y/n)’s defenses cracked because of that one simple gesture, and steam started coming out of their ears. Taking a deep breath, they tried to calm the burning chaos inside of them and smirked.
“I’m going to Ciel now.”
“May I ask about the reason?” he furrowed his brow.
“Nay, thee shan’t.”
“(Mr/Ms) Thief, surely, you wouldn’t actually stand near filth such as that?”
“What can I say? He’s much more pleasant company than you; trust me, I know.”
“Unbelievable…” he looked visibly offended now, ready to strike someone down in less than a second. “I apologize, but I won’t tolerate this sort of behaviour, thief.” Ain spat their nickname like he’d spit one of Ciel’s cookies, making them gasp dramatically.
“That’s it, I’m murdering you. Better pray to Ishmael while you still can.” (y/n) spat back, preparing their fists.
“After I teach you a lesson, I think it would be most enjoyable to have you pray alongside me.”
“Did you just say enjoyable? Did you just say enjoyable?! I will completely mop the filth out of this floor with your moppy hair!”
“I find it hard to believe that you would stoop to words this lowly, thief. Be warned, I will not go easy on you this time.”
“If only I had my weapons… You’d be crying on the floor right now.”
“I highly doubt it.”
“Look, I’ve made lots of people cry before, what makes you think you won’t be one of them?!”
“I have plenty of reasons. It is truly regrettable that I even considered having a tiny speck of respect for you… Not only do you fraternize with the demons, but you also act like a degenerate human being.”
“Tiny? Tiny?! You want me to mourn for a tiny speck?!”
“It matters little to me whether you mourn or not.”
“Wh- It was supposed to be an exaggeration, you massive idiot! Why do you have to take everything so seriously, it triggers me deeply on a personal level!!”
“Any last words, thief?”
“Yes. Feel my wrath!” they lunged, while Ain was prepared to break his pendulum.
“You know Ciel, this is really entertaining. I don’t regret having my cookies stolen in the middle of the night, just because I got to see this!” (y/n) got a glimpse of Lu and Ciel watching their fight, before their fist finally collided with Ain’s chest in a very underwhelming manner. Then, as a balloon without air, they deflated, landing unceremoniously on the floor.
Ain looked at the scene with a confused smile, wondering why (y/n) started giggling out of nowhere with their face in the ground. Did they have a plan? Was it just another strange human ritual?
“I can’t watch this anymore…” Ciel sighed and tried to approach (y/n), yet a tiny hand stopped him midway.
“How dare you offer help to those people? The cookie thief and the hateful priest?! Ciel, I thought highly of you, but it seems it was wrong of me to do so…”
He gasped dramatically and retaliated in less than a second. “I apologize, Lu! I will go bake another batch of cookies just for you and leave those two to their own devices.”
“Chocolate chip cookies, don’t forget.”
“Yes! I will certainly leave those two to take care of themselves and definitely not check on the situation later!”
“Good job! I surely do not regret choosing you as my butler, Ciel~,” beamed Lu, walking away with Ciel in tow.
“...Ah.” Only then did Ain realize that the odd acting human was in his care. ‘What is there to do now?’ he thought, for (y/n) had started to munch on the carpet. Then, he remembered humans didn't usually eat carpets.
“Thief, cease this disgraceful behaviour at once.” After he spoke, a pair of curious eyes settled on his magnificent coat. (y/n) could only imagine the deliciousness of such a minty looking beverage and leaped towards it in an attempt to get a taste.  He noticed before they even thought about it and intercepted their attack with a quick slap on the forehead.
(y/n) responded by hugging the floor and sobbing into it, to which Ain didn't bother reacting to anymore. His face spelled ‘I'm done’ yet the thief kept on crying the same sentence: “I'm hungryyyy…”
Ain gazed upon their snot filled visage, a repulsive sight which was supposed to engulf his entire being with disgust. Yet, despite all of his alarms having set off, he kneeled before (y/n). He recalled a similar sight which had only taken place recently; Elsword felt defeated when In and Jin escaped, but his sadness was gone as quickly as it came since Ms. Knight had ruffled his hair and offered words of encouragement. ‘Is that what’s missing?’ he thought, his gloveless hand finding its way onto their head as if to comfort.
Almost gone by unnoticed, their sobbing had gotten quieter. The more Ain would pat their head, the less they'd cry, and so he thanked Ishmael for this newfound wisdom.
“...Let's get you to your room,” he mumbled, grabbing (y/n) and pulling them over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. Without a sound, Ain traveled through the whole inn twice, probably even three times before he remembered where (y/n)’s room was; after all, it was by sensing their energy he stumbled across it the first time.
Ain laid their body on the bed as roughly as he picked them up, but he received no reaction. Instead, (y/n)’s sobbing had turned to silent tears as they covered their face with their palms.
‘A pitiful sight’, he thought; yet he could not stand still and watch since a strange feeling had wormed its way in. Then, the priest decided it'd be a good idea to repeat what he had done earlier and pat their head.
(y/n) on the other hand, couldn't even tell whether they were hungry or in complete despair for no reason in particular; but what they did know was someone's gentle hand comforting them and a gentle voice whispering ‘sleep well’. They did not know if it was actually real or not as they dozed off into a state of nothingness.
~darkness~
The bed was an incredibly soft surface and (y/n) wouldn't have gotten out of it if it hadn't been for the hot springs. It was finally time to relax and forget about all the worries that had plagued their mind for weeks.
On their way to the place in question, they grabbed a jerky and gulped it down in a second. ‘It's a lot tastier than usual’, they thought.
(y/n) sighed relieved. Fixing up their towel to make sure it wouldn’t fall, they opened the sliding door.
What a wondrous occasion for them to be able to finally savour the joy of hot springs! It had been a really long time since they'd been to one.
“Come in, (Mr/Ms) Thief. I’ve been waiting for you,” Ain had gotten there before them, but they didn’t mind too much and stepped into the water. They were really tired, and once they sunk their body into the hot springs their entire being relaxed.
“Would you mind if I gave you a massage?” (y/n) shook their head.
“Come here,” they approached him and he then tended to their sore back.
“You’re really good at this… I should ask you to do it more.”
“I’m glad to be of assistance.” a brief moment of silence followed as his firm hands ran over their bare skin. They felt themselves getting quite hot.
“...Do you hate me, Ain?”
“Why would I hate you?”
“I dunno…” their posture slouched.
“Just so you know, I don’t hate you. You don’t have to be sad.” his fingers moved onto (y/n)'s shoulders, their back straightening once again.
“I was a bit mean to you…”
“But I couldn’t hate you for that.”
“Maybe more than just a bit…”
“You’re still dear to me, (y/n).” they suddenly turned their head to face him, barely believing what they just heard.
“...Really?”
“Really.” he tucked a strand of hair behind their ear, staring at them lovingly. They didn’t know how to react.
“...I’m sorry for trying to hit you..”
“It’s alright. I forgive you.”
“I’m sorry for calling your hair moppy.”
“It’s fine.”
“I’m sorry for disrespecting the Goddess…”
“It can be easily solved.” they frowned. He gently caressed their head as he pulled them into a hug.
“...You’re really hot.”
“I’m flattered.”
“No, I’m… nevermind.” they gave into his touch and closed their eyes.
“You can sleep if you’d like. I’ll take care of you.”
“...You’re different.”
“I could say the same about you.”
Enveloped in warmth, they didn’t bother giving another argument.
“Look at me.” he raised their chin, gazing into their sleepy eyes.
“...Why though?”
“I just wanted to see you from up close. That’s all.”
“I should consider that creepy, but I’m too tired to care…” he chuckled, admiring their face even more. “What about the massage?” they asked innocently.
“Ah, I’m sorry. I got distracted.” his hands returned to their shoulders, making them even sleepier than before.
(y/n) looked up into the night sky. It was quite late judging by all the stars visible, and they wondered what they were still doing there; resting was mandatory since plenty of delicacies awaited them the next day, yet they were killing time with this pervert nonetheless.
Fluffy gray hair tickling their neck interrupted that train of thought. Not long after, a pair of arms wrapped around their torso, the towel seemingly gone.
“You will make a fine trophy to my wife collection.” he smiled wickedly, and (y/n) remembered: he was still a priest.
~darkness ends~
They woke up in a cold sweat, questioning reality with a distressed frown. Events of yesterday mingled with their dream, instilling uncertainty in what they were currently seeing.
“You're awake. How are you feeling?” inquired the man seated at their bedside. Upon closer inspection, they noticed his dark blue hair and identified him as Ciel; yet, (y/n) couldn't shake off the feeling that they were expecting someone else.
“I feel… fine, surprisingly. What happened yesterday?”
“You don't remember…?” he asked confused and (y/n) scratched the back of their neck. “Well, you weren't in your right mind, to say the least,” a tiny smile tugged at the corner of his lips, but (y/n) didn't notice. If they had, they'd have punched it right off.
“Either way, I made you some breakfast,” he offered them a plate. “Don't tell Lu.” Ciel added a little more serious than usual.
(y/n) studied their dish; it was smaller in quantity than what they were used to, and so it made up in craftsmanship. Not only was the pancake softer than anything they'd ever touched, but it also had a smiley face drawn in chocolate topping, together with a small ‘get well soon’ next to it.
(y/n) had never seen such effort put into breakfast before and couldn't contain the little blush that covered their cheeks. Ciel smiled at the sight.
Yet, despite the good start they'd gotten, (y/n) couldn't take their mind off the dream they just had. Who was it that they dreamed of? The thief could only feel disturbed and slightly horny, but the reason remains unknown.
The person in their dream had a name; what was it? It stood on the tip of their tongue…
“Ciel, wasn't there another guy with us?”
“There was? I'm fairly sure I found you alone.”
“Never mind… I probably just dreamed it all.” slouched (y/n). They could not tell why that person they forgot was so important to them and it frustrated them endlessly.
“Which parts do you remember from last night?” spoke Ciel, attempting to make conversation. (y/n) pondered on the question and didn't answer too quickly.
“...I was drinking what seemed like normal juice, but then I realized the sweet syrup in it was supposed to mask the taste of a drug. Something distracted me from that, but I just… can't remember what.”
“Drug?! Do you know who did this to you?”
“Yeah. It was the blond ponytail girl at the counter who I went to question with… with….?”
“With who?”
“I don't know. I don't remember,” they replied sheepishly to which Ciel sighed.
“I think I know what girl you're talking about. She also tried to break into my and Lu’s room, but not without good reason. We caught her a while after I found you unconscious; the whole El gang suspects she might be working with the demons.” (y/n) nodded in understanding, although they spaced out in the middle because the explanation was getting too long.
“We'll be waiting for you downstairs. Until then, eat your breakfast and take your time.” before leaving, Ciel ruffled their hair and (y/n) stopped responding.
At that point, they truly felt that something was missing and it wasn't just their memories of last night. Something like… something that would barge into their room and complain about getting along with a demon, even though Ciel was only half demon. Something that would throw the pancakes on the floor without an ounce of hesitation.
“(Mr/Ms) Thief, would you like to explain what that is in your lap?” and there he goes again, coming in uninvited with a glare that could kill.
(y/n)’s dream came back to them in an instant and they didn't know whether to hug themselves in embarrassment or run for their life. They couldn't even utter his name because of the overwhelming emotions that seemed to have popped up out of nowhere. Yet what they said was this:
“You don't have a wife collection, do you?”
“??? Are you trying to distract me from the devil’s food? Give me one reason why I shouldn't obliterate it right this instant,” Ain spat.
‘As grumpy as ever’, (y/n) thought and laughed out loud, a little relieved that their dream was far from reality. On the other hand, the priest was livid from that reaction.
“What did you just say about me, you puny human? I'll have you know I am Ishmael’s most trusted agent. No matter where you may hide I will find you and wipe you out in the name of the Goddess with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this land, mark my words. Laugh, human, I'll serve the divine retribution you are owed nonetheless and you shall perish by my wrath.”
(y/n) did their best to abstain from laughing even louder, but it was to no avail; the gates had already been flooded, a swarm of pure joy took over their mouth and even stomach, for the endless laughter had made it hurt.
"Wow, and here I was, actually disturbed by you for some weird reason-" wiping off an imaginary tear they squeaked out, hiding their relief. Ain was not amused.
"I will not tolerate-"
"Nom." (y/n) nommed a quarter of a pancake, interrupting his incoming speech. Ain's aura had turned menacing as he approached the hungry thief's bed.
"Oh, do you want one too?" (y/n) munched; Ain froze.
"Preposterous."
"Dont lie, you know you want it."
"Such audacity. Take that poison away from my sight. Now."
(y/n) smirked and nommed another pancake. "Om nom, very yum. Me like."
Ain looked mortified as they ate pancakes one by one, until only half a piece remained. It was doused in chocolate to the point of feeling like a wet towel when touched; just the way (y/n) loved it.
"Are you suuuure you don't want any?" No answer.
He thought a little more; weren’t they in such a predicament because of him? His incompetence led to (y/n) laying in that bed after a shaky night they had no choice over. It was his fault only, for not noticing the subtle details and letting a vital member get almost injured from sheer stupidity from his part. Ishmael would believe that he had to atone.
Defeated and upset with himself, Ain shut his eyes and whispered, "Just one bite…"
(y/n) beamed at the response and gladly gave him the bite he asked for. At first he looked like he'd spit it out the instant he put the pancake in his mouth, but his face didn't lie as his features slowly relaxed. He hummed in delight.
And when things seemed to be going well, the dream came to their mind again, along with an idea.
"Hey Ain, you're really hot."
Perplexed, he spoke: "I'm not. My coat may seem warm, but was that supposed to be a question?"
"I didn't mean it that way."
"Then what way did you mean it in?"
(y/n) giggled.
~
Elesis: “You’re finally here! What took you so long?”
Ara: “Um, m-maybe it’s not very appropriate to ask that..?”
Aisha: “I don’t buy it one bit. (y/n)’s not smart enough to handle a guy like Ain.”
(y/n): “Oi, wanna fight?”
Rena: “Ahem.” the whole El gang’s attention was on her. “We have more important things to deal with, don’t we?” Everyone looked at the suspect; she seemed regretful.
Raven: “You should explain yourself now, while you have the chance.”
Add: “Can’t you see she clearly doesn't want to speak? We should just end her here and now.”
Eve: “Any allies of the enemy should be exterminated.”
Add: “See, even Eve agrees with me…! Kuku..”
Elsword: “Now that everyone’s here, tell us: why did you make a deal with the demons?”
Lu: “And to bring me down, no less. To bring me, Luciela R. Sourcream, down…!”
???: “What could I have possibly done…?” For a brief second, her and (y/n)’s eyes met.
Ain: “(y/n) and I can prove that Emily concealed vital information. When confronted about the drugged drinks, she avoided answering and ran away.”
Emily: “tsk..”
(y/n): “Why’d you do it though? Other than peace, don’t you have everything you need?”
Emily: “You know, maybe if you didn’t have your heads so far up your asses, you’d be aware. What kind of heroes are you guys if everyone's starving to death even when working their hardest?! Why should we care if demons invade us when even in this so called peaceful world we have nothing anyway!”
(y/n): “...Girl, have you looked at yourself?”
Emily: “...?”
(y/n): “Those mad skills of yours… they got me wondering if I was working in the wrong field. If you can even call what I’m doing ‘working’. You can move in the shadows better than I can, and I’ve been doing this for years! I’m surprised you’re not a demon by how fast you were moving.”
Emily: “...What are you on about?”
(y/n): “There’s a great future ahead of you, yes, you’re destined for greatness! You can get into places I’ve never been able to, you can swipe treasures I never even knew existed… Greatness, I say!”
Emily: “So you’re saying…”
(y/n): “Eat the rich, Emily. Eat the rich and sleep on their skins.”
Chung: “Ahahah, I don’t think that’s the lesson she had to learn…”
Aisha: “That’s a little ironic, coming from royalty…”
Ciel: “Now, now, whether or not we’ve learned anything, why don’t we eat this celebratory cake I’ve baked just for this occasion?”
Elesis: “Wow, what a convenient cake! I’m all for it!”
Lu: “Huhu, my butler never disappoints, as expected.”
Ain: “But doesn’t it seem like someone took a huge bite out of it?”
Elsword: “No way… (y/n), you betrayed us?!”
With a fistful of cake, (y/n): “I’d rather betray the world than let the world betray me!” then laughed proudly.

static space lover — oikawa tooru [the kissing booth reference]
track 01: helena beat
A/n: I'm planning to mix in with a little more written parts since writing is fun as well haha. The socmed part will kick in soon!
Tumblr media
Hi. The name's y/n l/n. Classic run-of-the-mill partially pretty junior high schooler who apparently is one of those from the 'normal' section of high school popularity. Fairly normal life. Fairly normal group of friends — ah, how about I rephrase that one? Moderately normal group of friends. Yup. That sounds about right.
I'm best best friends with your resident blond, Atsumu Miya, basically since diapers. Same interests. Same amount of brain cells. Same foolish agenda. We have matching nintendo switches. We have matching marvel jerseys. Our families are like one and two. We were inseparable.
He's my go-to person. Partner in crime? Nah, far too cliche for my liking. He's probably the only jerk I could stand. And...here goes his twin, aka Atsumu Miya with a brain, Osamu. If our friendship is in question, we aren't that 'intimate' safe to say. More like acquaintances divided between a distinct gray line — maybe because Osamu Miya is far too close with a certain Oikawa Tooru — their older step brother. By 'close', I mean 'dissing Atsumu and y/n from a corner' close.
Oikawa Tooru. If one were to give me the chance to describe this idiot...I'd answer handsome right away beyond doubt. That is, if my hormones were speaking for me. But all in all, Tooru is just an evil, conniving jerk who would slam a volleyball right at your face if you even so much as think as pissing him off. Keyword: think.
Jokes on you. This jerk has been my childhood crush ever since and I'm not even denying it. Sucks to be me alright. But anyhow, life seems fine and is going pretty smoothly. No setbacks nor heavy burdens so far—
Yeah, about that, it seemed like fate jinxed it.
"Why the fuck do these stupid slacks need to rip out exactly when I don't need them to! Ugh! Kill me already!"
Growing bit by bit isn't exactly my strong suit. First year fresh from middle school then to my last year in junior high — wow, girls indeed grow the most speedy. Right. Then here are my fresh black slacks tearing off out of my butt on my very first day after summer break. And the only back-ups I got are ones from my first year.
Fate has favorites and I'm not on the list.
"Jesus, y/n, really?" Atsumu, in all his annoying glory, flashed his default hideously smug smirk as he grips on his tesla's steering wheel.
"What? My slacks ripped! You wanna stare at my strawberry cheesecake undies all day, Miya?" In a slightly irritated look, I challenged.
"What about your back ups?"
"These are my back ups!"
Stockman High, unlike y/n l/n, isn't your dime a dozen high school. It isn't one of those academic-centered high schools all about elitism and educational pressure. I, for one, can say that Stockman is particularly like those from your usual netflix teenage romance trope — it's fun.
"If the last season of How to Get Away with Murder doesn't come out this month, I will and I swear, cancel my netflix subscription right off the bat."
"As if. Alex Strangelove is far too temptin' for ya. Ya ain't gonna survive a day without netflix."
"Try me, 'Tsumu!"
"Yeah yeah. Hop out already!"
Today seemed pretty normal. Your conventional high school post-summer break day at Stockman with no troubles so far.
"What in the world — is that y/n l/n?"
"Oh my god, you go girl."
"What is she? From middle school?"
Why the fuck does this have to happen now.
"Tsumu! Why is everyone — and if I say everyone, I mean the whole Stockman High populace, is looking at us like we grew out a second head???"
"If ya say 'us', it's particularly just you, y/n. Nice ass."
"Fuck you. Come behind me 'Tsumu! I hate it here."
"Hmm. Gladly."
Basically everyone's eyes were ogling at me and it's probably too early to say that post-summer break is doing 'fine' 'with no troubles'. At least I attached a 'so far' at the very end, regarded as certain.
How could this day get any worse? Not so much, right?
"Terushima! What the hell?!"
Great. The other blond jerk from the football team just touched my butt. Really great.
"Just measured your bum size, y/n. No hard feeli—"
And so chaos ensues. "Yuuji. I swear to god you say another fucking word I'll bust your face right this instant." Atsumu fitfully challenges with pride and glory. Anger seething from his core
I gripped on his arm, attempting to stop the trade of punches from getting any more catastrophic, and yet...fate really had favorites. y/n l/n, unfortunately but not surprisingly, is not one of them.
Oikawa fucking Tooru just had to butt in throwing his stupid ball at Terushima Yuuji. Hitting the blond with force stronger than what shall we believe constitutes the highest degree of 'strong'. And that added salt to injury.
"Tooru! No! No! It's alright! You can stop now!"
Yet nada, he wasn't listening. He beat the guy to a pulp. Lip busted violet beat, almond orbs almost unobtrusive. Tooru just beat Yuuji like how he hits his killer serves and it terrifies me to no end.
"Why does my brother always have t'make a hideous example for the citizens of America..." Says Atsumu.
I strained to grab Tooru's shoulders and pull him away but he was to fixated on landing a punch on the other guy, it deemed as if the very world around him faded like canvas.
"Yes, alright Oikawa, that's enough. Get off of Terushima. We have a long day ahead of us." Very early, the principal butted in at last minute, fortunately snapping Tooru from his punching spree and violent daze. "You three! My office!"
"Why do I have to go!?"
Great. No troubles so far alright.
-
"Great going Tooru, fantastic." I rolled my eyes, flashing him one last glare before I close my [eye color] orbs in immediate stress, not the slightest bit amused of the events unfolding right this very day.
"No one has the right to treat girls like that, y/n. Especially if that girl has to be you." Tooru mumbled under his breath, pouting as he fiddles with his phone, the senior high school uniform polo almost dry from faint sweat.
If that girl has to be you. All in good time, on the face of it, there is no good time, Tooru's eyes see me as his little sister. Nothing more nothing less. Just his baby sister. The plus one in the family tree. His normal childhood acquaintance.
"Really, Tooru? Me?"
Our eyes met. His molten chocolate ones falling on mine. His plump lips folded into a thin line. Sweat trickling down his forehead. Finally, the words I've expected for years come rolling out from his tongue. "Yeah. You're my little sister after all." And so he threw his head back upfront. Not caring for the slightest.
"Afraid so." I heaved out a sigh. Disappointed mood cascading my gut.
"Y'know, y/n-chan~ if you didn't just wear that skirt right now, we shouldn't be having this conversation."
I can't believe this guy. "Really Tooru? You're going beyond that line?"
He ran a hand through his hair, moaning in disbelief as he then pinched the bridge of his nose. "Just wrap my jacket around your waist for the whole day, y/n. Don't fight me."
Huh. Oikawa Tooru isn't that bad.

Code: Ultimate
Henir’s Time and Space existed in a separate plane of its own, balanced between all dimensions and existed at a point where time did not exist. A portal cracked open from the side, forming an enclave big enough for their group to squeeze through.
Ultimate entered first. She forced her wings to fold back to avoid crushing the person behind her. It was the same as it was the last time she had visited. They all landed on the familiar blue platform shared by parts of Elrianode. Electric circuits glowed beneath their feet. Blue cubes hovered around their platform among the stars. A dark sun eclipsed by the moon floated above their heads.
Despite gaining access to knowledge from the libraries and databases from her journey, Ultimate had little understanding of Henir’s Time and Space and its existence. Its architecture bore strong resemblance to that of the corrupted monsters and machines in Elrianode. The administrator of the facility was placed in what appeared to be a form of punishment. Ultimate felt her circuits hum into mild stress at the thought of being locked into one place.
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE DIMENSION WILL COLLAPSE?”
Loud chatter disrupted Ultimate’s train of thought. The queen of destruction closed her eyes and allowed her programs to run scans in the background. Glave was nowhere to be seen, but Ultimate needed to update her database on Henir’s Time and Space.
“I’m sure she was joking.” Knight laughed nervously. The red knight fought to restrain Aether by placing his hands over her shoulder and gently nudging her away from Metamorphy. The elementary mage did not back away and had her staff out with a dangerous look in her eyes.
Ultimate recognized that expression. It was the one humans had when frustrated and confused. Aether was both.
“I don’t joke,” Metamorphy said with a bright smile. She was unaffected by her counterpart’s outburst and stepped out of the portal with her arms behind her back.
Her sensors notified Ultimate that other organic beings were present. Orange and red light filtered through her ocular lens to let her know there were a few dozen warm bodies. Metamorphy was correct in that they were the last group to have arrived. The platform they were on was one of many. Small stairs connected each platform and formed a chain of them to travel in between them.
Ultimate heard their names being shouted by the others that saw their arrival. It was too much for the Nasod in keeping track of them all. She allowed herself to ignore them and instead watched her friends interact with each other. Their reunion would be short before they learn about their fates.
A figure appeared from the mass of people. Ultimate’s scans shot up in response to the high energy levels emitted from Paradox. The time traveler’s energy level was unstable, making it difficult for Ultimate’s systems to keep up with the changes. It was as if Paradox wasn’t human.
“Of course it’s you causing all the noise.” Paradox was in his adult form and covered his mouth to hide a snide smile. He said to Metamorphy. “So you told them your intentions. Didn’t think you would become the harbinger of bad news.”
“I don’t remember asking for your input,” Metamorphy’s expression soured. “I doubt your group took it any better than mine did.”
“You took us here knowing we were going to react like this?” Knight protested, “You’re okay with us watching the world be destroyed?”
“Reborn,” Metamorphy corrected.
“Explain,” Ultimate looked at Paradox and Metamorphy with cold eyes. She noticed more people crowding around them and listening in to Metamorphy’s explanation. Did they know about this before they did? “I don’t quite follow what you mean by rebirth.”
Destruction and rebirth were two concepts humans liked to bring up through history. Their religion and cultures were built around both. When one group had fallen, another would rise, sometimes stronger than the last in ways Nasods wouldn’t be able to.
Ultimate was placed into deep slumber because her creator feared that his race had once again fallen into the cycle of death. He was correct, but Adrian failed to recognize that humans were just as compatible with creation as they were in destruction. For she had seen her teammates come up with plans and concepts that helped others. However, Ultimate began to understand his sentiment when Metamorphy showed glee in explaining the death of a dimension the Nasod queen had only come to known for a few days.
“Rebirth makes it sound grander than it actually is,” Metamorphy said. “It’s more like a soft reboot. Having everyone into the same dimension is stressing the system and forcing it to shut down to reset itself.”
“You’re saying it’s going to come back?” Phantom asked.
“Yes,” Metamorphy hummed. “Maybe not one-hundred percent. It should be restored to the state before the dimension broke down.”
“We’re really doing this.” Bangs covered Knight’s eyes, “We’re letting people suffer again.”
There was tension in the red haired man’s features. His shoulders rose and a hint of blue flickered over his glassy eyes. Ultimate frowned and questioned the El’s influence over Knight. Did the El have a stronger presence with Knight than it did for Rune?
“I’m sorry we had to resort to this,” Rage offered Knight an awkward pat on the back.
“So this is what happens when too many timelines intersect,” Bringer mumbled to himself. “This is the end.”
Being a few hundred years old, Ultimate wasn’t one to be as sentimental as most were in occurrences such as the soft reset Metamorphy was suggesting. The end wasn’t a foreign concept to her. According to numerous history books, many Elrian civilizations documented the Nasod war as the death of a prosperous era and the end to the benevolent relationship between Nasods and humans. Rune’s sacrifice to the El was the end of their search for the El Lady and the El Masters. A soft reset would mark yet another ending of a story arc in human history.
Was there truly an end?
“Resetting will fix everything?” There was a bite to Flame words and sharpness in the look she exchanged to Metamorphy and over to Paradox. Biting the bottom of her lips, Ultimate could see the flame user trying not to get excited.
“I don’t know about that,” Paradox scoffed. “No one has done a reset before. I’m not sure if Glave can even do it.”
“Is that why you brought us here?” Abysser asked. “I knew Glave deals with time and space, but do you really think he’s going to agree to helping us?”
“Didn’t he already help you in Elrianode?” Crusader had his arms crossed, “He gave us information about the corrupted Elrianode monsters and about the Dark El.”
“I suppose it could be too soon to ask for help again.” Empire said, “We’re already here, so we should at least try.”
Empire had what humans called “cautious optimism”. When Ultimate expressed her confusion, Rune explained that people wanted to see the bright side of something, but remained careful out of the fear of being wrong. The knight captain remained so, putting on a composed mask but smiling as a way to reassure the others. Flame did the same, but her enthusiasm was more overt and offering loud cheers.
Crossing her legs, Ultimate examined a floating cube reflecting her face back. She hadn’t noticed before, but some of them acted as monitors and showed the viewer different worlds. Each surface focused on a different part of Elrios, but one caught her attention. Ripples formed over its otherwise smooth surface and offered her a glimpse of a moving figure.
A woman sharing Devi’s face darted across a muddy terrain with a toothy grin. She wore white outfit similar to that of the warriors from Fluone's Northern Empire, followed by a white fox with many tails. Behind her was a blonde man in a white suit covered by equally pristine armor and a destroyer. An elven woman was with them. Her hair was tied back into a long braid and hoisted a sword and a bow. The sky was red and they were fighting a monster several times their size, covered in spikes and baring sharp teeth.
An emotionless face reflected back at Ultimate from the screen. The Nasod queen froze, waiting for her circuits to process the face of her twin. Pale blue wings sprouted from the back of her counterpart from another world she didn’t know of. Were these people her friends from another dimension?
“My, my. There are more of you than usual.” A male voice mused, “Your group gets bigger each time we meet, but this is the biggest I’ve seen.”
A single orange eye peered through the metal mask Glave wore. His voice made it impossible to tell his age, a quiet chuckle followed by a light toned statement that placed many people on edge. The locks placed around his collar were for a man who had committed unspoken crimes.
“You took your time,” Paradox sneered. “Where have you been?”
“Hello, Add.” Glave chuckled, “I see you have made use of the knowledge I have given you.”
“Cut the crap and tell us what we need to do to undo this idiot’s mistake!” Bringer growled.
“It looks like there’s three of you now,” Glave looked at Bringer, Dominator, and Paradox. “I suspected this day would come. How can I help you?”
Bringer fumed as Bluhen commented about the brawler being singled out with his other selves. Dominator was less pleased of being grouped with his alternatives, crossing his legs and sitting on Dynamo in a silent sulk. Paradox became a sitting duck as soon as Glave showed up, glaring at the administrator of Henir’s Time and Space with distaste.
“We need your help,” Crusader explained. “The Demon Realm where we came from is falling apart. If we don’t do something, we won’t be able to save Elrios.”
“Is that so?” Glave looked at the mob, “Is that because all of you were involved?”
“Yes,” Anemos said. “Add said there were too many of us and it’s causing problems for everyone and the people living in Demon Realm.”
“I expected this to happen for some time,” Glave admitted.
“Because you taught someone how to time travel?” Nova raised a brow.
“Yes, but he isn’t the only one learning to open portals.” Glave said, “I’m sure you remember the demon invasion in Velder?”
“That’s right, they were trying to open portals to invade Elrios!” Aether exclaimed, “But what are you trying to say? Metamorphy said you could reset the dimension and return us back to where we were supposed to be!”
“Did she now?” Glave said, “That is a heavy task you are asking of me.”
“Please, Glave. You helped us before and you gave us all the information you knew about the Dark El.” Knight lowered his head, “I don’t know what we can offer this time, but you’re the only person I know who can help us.”
Ultimate looked back to Knight, trying to understand his intention. He led a massive group, yet maintained the humbleness Rune had. There was no humor in his intonation, coated by shame and guilt. She was confused about where the unnecessary emotion came from. He was no different than Rune.
“What can you offer this time?” Glave chuckled again, “Resetting a dimension so I can send all of you on your merry way? It will only take time before all of you find each other again.”
“I know it’s our fault this happened, but that’s why I want to change that.” Knight said, “I only want-”
An arm blocked Knight from getting closer to Glave. Immortal stepped up and shook his head to Knight, effectively silencing his counterpart with a tiny smile. The sword user beamed at Glave and offered the man a forced grin.
“Yo, Glave! I got a better deal than myself over there,” Immortal nudged Knight to the side. “Why stop at resetting one dimension? You’re right, we might try to see each other again and that means you’ll have to fix our mess again. So why don’t you sit down and listen to what I have to say?”
“Oh?” A smile could be heard in Glave’s raised intonation, “What do you propose?”
“Why don’t you make it so that dimension traveling is stable across our three dimensions?” Immortal nodded, “You won’t regret this because you will never be bored!”
Anemos once proposed to Ultimate that Glave’s strange requests were done out of boredom. She kept her voice low and hushed with a snide comment that was uncharacteristic of the elven woman. Ultimate couldn’t relate to the emotion as Nasods did not get bored, but she knew that humans had a tendency of finding ways to entertain themselves when placed in isolation. She could see why Glave would go to such lengths to reach out to the El Search Party when his traveling was limited to a few spots.
“Never get bored, huh?” Nova laughed to himself, “That’s so Elsword.”

Chevalier
In contrast to the cold weather in Varnimyr, there was nothing in Henir’s time and space. It was warm yet cold. Big, yet small. An infinite sea of platforms floated in space, small stairs suspended in midair and connected to one another. Just big enough to fit all twenty nine of them and its administrator.
The first time he had visited Henir’s time and space was by Glave himself, who had a tendency of showing up at resting spots in Elrios. A strange light in his eyes gave away that the man had plans of his own. He wasn’t one to share his intentions and Chevalier didn’t want to do with any of it. Chevalier didn’t lack strange people in his life after he formed a pact with Ishtar.
It has been weeks since Chevalier last saw the administrator of Henir’s time and space. With a look of boredom and a shrug, Glave offered useful information on the Dark El and a quick history lesson of the Henir heretics involvement of it. Their dependence on Glave brought discomfort to the half-demon butler.
“Are we nothing more than entertainment for this man?” Ishtar scowled, “Fixing someone else’s mistake in exchange for our livelihood. What kind of nonsense is this?”
Chevalier hushed the former demon ruler. He had seen the hasty plan wrapped together by the newcomers as if it was second nature for them to dimension jump at a last minute’s notice. There was no reason to give Glave a moment of doubt in handing over a gift to their group.
“How would we travel to each other’s worlds?” Apsara asked.
“I gave the coordinates to the nerd and the musclehead,” Paradox snorted. “I think that’s enough.”
“This is a good idea?” Chevalier wondered aloud, “Demons have tried to cross into Elrios through portals in the past. What makes you think they won’t find out about our new access to them?”
“It’s only a problem if you blurt it out in the cold open like the amateurs you are,” Paradox grinned. “With twelve of you, that surely won’t be a problem, would it?”
Chevalier couldn’t make head or tail(s) about the man who shared Doom Bringer’s face. The time traveler had two forms he could use however he pleased. That was how he tricked Knight into believing he was harmless, yet they were expected to take Paradox’s words as truth. The butler’s gaze locked into Bringer, who nodded as a confirmation.
“That’s right, he gave us the coordinates for each other’s dimensions.” Bringer said, “Is that all you want to say?”
“You’re not the type to have idle conversations, are you?” Dreadlord chuckled, “I suppose it can’t be helped with our situation.”
Was the Demon Realm they came from beyond saving? It wasn’t their world, but it was the one the El Search Party promised to protect. It was a relief to make amends with the dark elves and the other creatures living there. Despite the poor relation between demons and Elrios inhabitants, there were civilians living in both. Most importantly, it was Ishtar’s home. Behind her sly smiles was sadness and nostalgia for a place that no longer accepted her.
Chevalier and Ishtar poured blood and sweat into fighting their way into Demon Realm to restore her reign as a ruler, only for all that effort to go to waste. He couldn’t imagine the thoughts going through Ishtar’s mind in watching her world be reduced to ashes.
“It’s fine,” Ishar placed a hand over Chevalier’s left forearm. She said with a forced smile, “It doesn’t bother me. Everything will be okay.”
“Are you sure?” Chevalier disliked how childish he sounded when he asked a seemingly simple, yet personal question to the one he was supposed to protect.
“Metamorphy said it would be reset, so I’m sure of it.” She closed her eyes, “My people are no strangers to rebuilding themselves. We should be thankful Grave is agreeing to help us again. This will be the second time we owe him.”
“That’s already several times less than some of us,” Immortal gave a light chuckle. “Are you ready then?”
All this talk about portal and interdimensional travel was a familiar topic that gave Chevalier a migraine. He could understand why the ability to do so was so appealing to demons. With that sort of power, Chevalier would gain access to stronger allies, multiple versions of himself that would likely share the same objective as he did. It took the effort of many people to prevent such power from falling into their enemy’s possession.
Meeting their alternates added an extra layer of complexity on top of the original intention to seek out the Dark El. The butler knew they wouldn’t hear the last about portals after the first time they attempted to cross a dimension over from Lanox. Chevaliar had doubts that their group would return to Elrios any time soon.
“You all right, there?” Abysser’s annoying voice popped into his vicinity. “What’s going on in your mind?”
“Nothing,” Chevalier said.
“No one thinks about nothing,” Abysser snorted. “Hey Ish, what’s he thinking?”
“Don’t call her that!” Chevalier growled. Why was being around himself so grating? Ishtar gave Abysser a small smile, but the demon monarch mentally cackled at the exchange between the two butlers. Chevalier sent glares at the tiny demon, struggling not to fill his mind with profanities. That only made Ishtar laugh harder.
“Did I say something funny?” Abysser was concerned, “You look like you ate something bad and Ishtar is giving me a weird look.”
Chevalier stared ahead, focusing his thoughts and eyes on Glave. The administrator’s lips were moving, but he couldn’t hear the words. For the first time, he wished Ishtar didn’t have to share the same mental space as him. The demon monarch was usually good about backing off and giving him privacy, but Ishtar was taking delight in picking at his thoughts whenever Abysser was around. Her Cheshire grin was one that was usually reserved for teasing Bluhen.
“Ciel was telling me how much he likes you!” Ishtar dared to speak a complete lie. Her lips couldn’t have spread out even further if she tried. The demon monarch bore a mischievous smirk that was more in line with her appearance age.
“Aw, I think you’re cool too!” Abysser beamed.
Chevalier groaned.
He spied a camera shot of Varnimyr from one of the reflective cubes floating nearby. They functioned similar to the Nasod technology used in Elysion to monitor the city. Red clouds swirled in a dangerous haze, obscured by dark portals consuming the rest of the sky. Demons trekked across the fiery path, seeking for shelter in confusion to what was happening to their world. The demon realm was a mirror to what Lanox was weeks before the demon invasion. So this was how Glave always knew where to find them.
Past his former days as a hitman, Chevalier pondered on how he would use them. How easy would it be to find his target before they realized he existed and... Chevalier didn’t allow himself to complete the thought. Those days were over. He would have easily picked to live in the present than in a bloodtorn past where he too often scraped the bottom of the barrel for less savory jobs.
“It’s okay if you don’t know what to think about any of this,” Abysser read his silence as uncertainty. His eyes glazed over the cubes. Anger appeared in a short moment before he said, “I don’t think anyone would know how to react.”
“You think?” Chevalier gave a dark chuckle. At least Abysser’s voice was good at distracting him from those troubling thoughts. “I was questioning my sanity when you introduced yourself.”
“I can’t be that bad,” he feigned a hurt expression.
“It’s like a dream,” Chevalier said. “Everything gets resolved as quickly as the problem came.”
“We must be blessed because we now have three Elswords,” Abysser smirked. “Lady Luck seems to like them.”
“I wouldn’t call it luck if it means having to sit through the world crumbling before us,” Chevalier said.
“You’re welcome to join them,” Abysser grinned.
“I’ll pass,” Chevalier scoffed.
“Don’t you ever get bored of acting cool all the time?” Abysser asked.
Chevalier shrugged, wondering what the demon meant by that. While he was troubled by the idea of watching a dimension reset itself, Ishtar did not need to add his premature death to her list of growing worries. Having sympathy for demon realm civilians wasn’t going to make him into a martyr. He was not Knight.
“What needs to be done to begin the reset?” Anemos asked.
“Your visit was unexpected, so I won’t be able to start immediately to fix your… mishap.” Glave said. “For saving the dimension, I expect a token of exchange shortly after. I’m sure it won’t be difficult for one of you to acquire it.”
Chevalier was sure the first part was a lie, but he didn’t have the proof nor motivation to say otherwise. He took Glave’s word for it and nodded in agreement. His mind glossed over the mention of payment, mildly interested in what the administrator of Henir could want. Glave had previously formed exchange services for them running errands. The requested items were often unique objects obtained from strange circumstances and battles.
“You can tell us about the price after you finish saving the world,” Immortal said impatiently.
Similar to Knight, he carried weight in his steps and was terse in his words. He had a sharp look in his eyes, hazy from the effect the Dark El had. Chevalier could feel the Dark El radiating from the sword user, yet he retained his reason and intelligence.
“There will still be limitations on how many can visit different worlds,” Glave added. “Your dimensions will no longer collapse under the new laws, but having large groups together will cause a delay in regular timeflow.”
“As in…?” Flame squinted.
“Try not to visit in big groups,” Phantom finished for her.
“Having big groups does make it harder to avoid detection from the enemies,” Daybreaker remarked.
Being forced to arrive as small groups sounded cumbersome, but it was more than what he expected from Glave. Impressed by Immortal’s ability to sway the administrator of Henir, Chevalier quietly thanked the redhead and offered a pat on the shoulder. Immortal backed away, as if the young man had seen a ghost. He kept looking at the butler’s face with a careful expression before moving his eyes over to Ishtar. Fear struck across Immortal’s gaze before he apologized to Chevalier for staring.
Confused by Immortal’s reaction, Chevalier accepted the apology but frowned. Was it something he had said? Did Immortal have a bad relationship with the other Ciel from his world? It took a split second for Chevalier to force himself away from drawing out his gunblade because of the way Immortal looked at Ishtar, an expression he was quick to recognize. It was one of fear mixed with anger. What did the other Lu do to make Immortal respond like that?
“Forget it.” Immortal rubbed the back of his head, a trait he shared with Rune and Knight when frustrated. “I need to let the others know what’s happening.”
“I know you have a lot on your plate, but Glave won’t be ready any time soon.” Chevalier said. He wished there was something he could do to help the young man. “You should take the time to rest.”
“Lucky for us, time doesn’t exist here.” Immortal let out a dark chuckle.
“So after this, we’ll return to where we were before like nothing happened?” Chevalier asked.
Immortal nodded.
Rune’s group would go back to Elrianode before they entered Demon Realm. Would they once again attempt to enter their Demon Realm or would they change plans and remain in the ancient city? Chevalier and his friends would return to a restored Varnimyr with its inhabitants being none the wiser, still in danger because of a strong demonic presence they have yet to identify. Where would Immortal and the others go?
“Don’t waste your time thinking about the things that don’t exist in your world,” Immortal said. He gave the butler a critical expression, “I’m sure you’re curious about what my world is like, but that’s our problem to figure out.”
Problem? Chevalier realized he was judging a group of people he had only met a few hours ago and felt guilty. It wasn’t his place to make opinions on something he didn’t understand.
“Perhaps we’ll meet again under better circumstances,” Chevalier said.
“Maybe,” Immortal’s expression softened. Despite his young face, there was age in his eyes. Chevalier didn’t understand why, but he sympathized with Immortal’s struggle to hold the team together. That was something he could relate to. “Maybe not.”
“Can you at least tell me if you found the Dark El?” Chevalier asked when Immortal excused himself.
The redhead broke into a burst of genuine laughter, “Would I be here if I knew the answer?”

Immortal
Resting his head back against the palm of his hands, Immortal took deep and controlled breaths as Shakti had taught him. He felt his chest hover before deflating, letting his mind wander off into the distance and blocking out the pointless chatter around him.
More waiting. Nothing he could do to speed it up. Time didn’t exist in Henir’s Time and Space, which was great because that meant the stakes were lower, but made the extraneous delay worse for the sword user. Immortal was itching to get up and find something to do.
Paradox didn’t trust Glave, but it wasn’t a question about trust. Glave was useful. He had access to knowledge and power that could easily switch their position in their current battle against the demons. Immortal wasn’t going to ignore a viable resource, not when Glave was so eager to offer his services.
It was torturous sitting around and waiting for Glave to do his thing and send them back. To hell with Glave saying their visit was unexpected. He knew the guy was keeping a careful watch on his group. Something about them having “potential”, whatever that meant. Glave was never confused when his team visited the administrator, often offering them valuable information they needed. There was no reason for Glave to begin being surprised by their appearances.
Immortal’s concentration was broken by girlish giggling. Scowling at nothing in particular, he opened his eyes to see Metamorphy pointing at Paradox while talking to Devi. The magical girl motioned a pair of cat ears with the use of her index fingers. Devi had a similar expression as Immortal, confused by Metamorphy’s chatter. Flame was amused and mouthed a few words Immortal couldn’t hear over the rest of the mob.
“It’s hard to hear your own thoughts,” Nova commented. The older man settled down next to Immortal. “I’m surprised it took effort to find them.”
“I’m surprised too,” Immortal mumbled. “We should have let Aisha lead.”
“She would be happy to hear that.” He could hear the smile in Nova’s tone without looking at the former mercenary. “Convincing Glave to let the paths crossover more than once was a bold move.”
“So was letting the Dark El take over.” Immortal balanced one of his blades to see his reflection shine over its glossy edge and smirked, “I’m a bold guy.”
“If you say so,” Nova chuckled. “I understand wanting to restore their dimensions, but why take the extra steps to let them transverse to our worlds?”
Portals weren’t a novelty for Elrios. Humans and demons alike have spent centuries toying with the idea of interdimensional travel, fighting to ignore the barriers placed by the gods to prevent them from mingling. In many ways, demons held very human qualities in wanting what couldn’t be obtained. If it wasn’t Knight or Rune’s teams attempting to use portals, Immortal was sure the demons would make additional attempts to break into another dimension.
“I like to call it a haunch,” Immortal said. “Just in case something like this happens again. Besides, they could use the extra help.”
“In fighting Rosso?” Nova raised a brow.
“Not so loud!” Immortal shushed him, “I don’t think they know about him yet, at least that’s what Paradox told me.”
“Letting them know won’t hurt them,” Nova gently told him. “They already know they will make it because of us.”
Immortal questioned if it was wiser to let the other El Search Parties know what they were getting themselves into. His team had barely scraped out of the battle with bloodied cuts and bruises that took days to heal. Unlike Knight’s team, they had no healers and relied on potions crafted by their alchemists.
What would he tell Knight and Rune? That they were going to be ambushed by a burning midget with a giant blade? Immortal sighed, frustrated by the dilemma. Their timelines were already tangled up thanks to Paradox. There was no use in hiding knowledge from each other, yet he hesitated.
Their small team of eight grew at Rosso’s awakening. Paradox showed up when the first blood was drawn. When asked why, the time traveler shrugged with a mischievous smile. Immortal could never understand what went through Paradox’s mind and wasn’t sure if he wanted to.
It was one of the rare fights that summoned Iblis and Anular from the depths of hell. Iblis’s face was twisted with madness and delight in the pain she was able to inflict on their enemy, dragging Anular along on an invisible chain formed by their twisted bond. Their party was down to the last of its members able to fight when Immortal thought he saw red hair and a claymore before passing out. When he woke up, Bloody Queen was nowhere to be seen.
“You think our help will be enough?” Immortal pondered on the implications of being able to regularly interact with his alternates. They were just a walking distance from him, but he couldn’t bring himself to face them.
Nova noticed his hesitance.
“You should check on them,” Nova followed his gaze over to the two red haired men talking to each other. “I’ll let you know when it’s time for us to leave.”
“What if they hate me?” Immortal was surprised by his own doubt, annoyed by how honest he sounded.
“Before you finish that thought, I think they’re more concerned about their problems than about you.” Nova said without heat in his words, “They followed you through this plan because they believed in you. I think your appearance might be a breath of fresh air for them.”
“You sure put a lot of faith into this eighteen year old,” Immortal laughed.
“If age was a concern, I wouldn’t have followed you when we first met.” Nova smiled. “If they give you trouble, I can talk to them too.”
“I don’t think that will happen,” Immortal laughed again. Knight and Rune were foolish, but had good intentions. That made three of them. He gave a mock salute to Nova with a toothy grin, “I won’t be gone for long.”
It wasn’t hard to find Knight and Rune. They sat huddled together like they have known each other for years, speaking hushed whispers that raised Immortal’s radar. He forced those thoughts away, putting on a big smile as he was supposed to. Relaxed, waving at the two as if he wasn’t bothered by the idea of being the bringer of bad news that they were going to have to deal with a half-demon brat in a matter of hours, two weeks in Rune’s case.
“Yo!” Immortal heard himself speak. He waved to them, “Fancy seeing you two here!”
“You’re the one who brought us here,” Knight waved back with a sigh.
“I know,” Immortal kept smiling. “I told you I would help you guys get home!”
“That felt a little too easy,” Rune said. “Do things always go smoothly for you?”
“No,” Immortal heard Knight’s voice alongside his. He stopped to look at Knight, who wasn’t as surprised. “Really?”
“Yes,” Knight stressed. The look on his face was one of someone who was exhausted from all the interrogating from others. Impatient, he pressed his hand against his forehead when he saw doubt in his alternates. “Maybe the things I went through weren't as long and strenuous as it was for you, but I have struggles too!”
“Never said I didn’t believe you,” Rune patted Knight on the back. “Just surprised, that’s all.”
Even if Immortal had purposely avoided talking to Rune and Knight up to this point, he was envious of how easy it was for them to talk to each other. Knight and Rune lacked the tension in their shoulders, relaxed and eager to trust others. It wasn’t that Immortal couldn’t relax, but there was a constant nagging voice in the back of his mind. Conwell urged him to take the next step to avoid the uncertainty of death.
“Did you make Raven worried again?” Rune asked.
“Me? Worry him?” Immortal smirked at the idea,“When isn’t he worried? He’s going to get white hair if he keeps fussing like that.”
“Ours already has white hair,” Knight said without humor.
Having only caught a short glimpse of Rage from a distance, Immortal was only able to recognize the former mercenary by the monstrous arm. It was nothing like what Immortal was used to, a strange mesh of machinery and organic compounds.
Rune threw his head back and let his hair flop over his face in uncontrolled laughter. Covered in runes, his appearance was a sharp contrast to Knight’s conservative armored look. It was amazing how consistent their looks were to their personalities. If not for their shared names, they could have been different people.
“Anyway, I think it’s only fair I share some information about what’s coming up for both of you.” Immortal ran one hand through his hair.
“You mean what was causing the earthquakes in Varnimyr?” Knight asked, “Yeah, Paradox mentioned something about that. Rune and I were talking about that.”
“Did Paradox mention how strong the next enemy was?” Immortal asked.
“We’re going to have to fight something stronger?” Rune laughed, “When is that not the case?”
They were taking the news better than Immortal thought, maybe too calmly. He didn’t like how quick Rune was to accept his word. No hesitance or questioning involved. Maybe Paradox was right about him needing more caffeine. Knight blinked, letting the new information process before nodding in agreement to Rune. He looked at Immortal with interest and ushered him to keep talking.
Well, that’s why Immortal was here - letting them know what they were getting themselves into. It wasn’t going to stop them from going after Rosso, because they were Elsword and none of them could ignore someone’s cry for help. If no one was going to fight Rosso, who would? The ones who felt the most connection to the El. Good gods, why did all of them have to be big damn heroes?
“The enemy will be heavily protected from outside its tower,” Immortal explained. “You need to take down the barriers quickly before they overwhelm you. Make use of everyone’s abilities and distribute your strengths. If one person gets shot down, let someone else take over.”
“People died?” Knight looked alarmed.
“No,” Immortal realized his wording and stepped back. “But you’re going to need all the help you can get.”
“Is that why you asked Glave to let our dimensions overlap?” Rune asked.
Immortal cocked his head to the side, “Am I scaring you yet?”
“Not really.” Knight’s brave front was betrayed by his face losing color. Clearing his throat, he said, “Telling us what you know will make the fight easier.”
“Will it be easier?” Immortal asked more for himself than to the others. “I doubt things will ever be easy for any of us, but you’ll continue?”
“Of course!” Rune bumped his fist up, “Who the hell do you think we are?”
Knight nodded in agreement.
“Figures,” Immortal smiled. “Then I see no point in stopping either of you from doing what you have to do.”
He sat with his legs crossed with his body leaned back, looking up to the stars surrounding Henir’s time and space. No wonder Glave kept finding excuses to leave this bubble and interfere with his group. There was nothing to see once the novelty in the monitor panels and space wore off.
“What’s your team like?” Knight asked.
“You already saw half of them,” Immortal said. “What do you think?”
“Blunt. They have a lot of energy,” Knight after some thought, clearly putting careful consideration into his response. How cute.
“They have a lot of powers we haven’t seen before,” Rune commented. “Where did Paradox learn to use portals?”
“None of us know,” Immortal shrugged. “Metamorphy thinks Glave is involved, but that’s besides the point. Paradox does what he wants.”
“You mean he isn’t with you?” Knight asked.
“Yes and no,” Immortal said. “Our team is a little smaller than yours because we don’t travel together.”
Immortal saw the wheels spinning in Knight’s head, taking in the new information and forming new questions to throw at the sword wielder. He caught the red-haired knight tongue-tied on whether to probe further. It didn’t matter to him. If Knight asked, he would let the other know that their team functioned differently. Having a smaller team didn’t bother Immortal. It made traveling easier and drew in less attention.
“It must be hard fighting that enemy if you had a smaller group,” Rune said.
“We’ve managed,” Immortal replied.
Although Iblis, Anular, and Paradox had joined for the bigger fights, he wasn’t sure if they counted as allies. Their loyalties laid elsewhere, not in him. Anular followed wherever the corrupted queen went and Paradox had a separate agenda unrelated to the El. It was better than no help at all. He wanted to offer the two El Search Parties more than that. No one deserved to barely scrape by with burns and blisters on their sides.
“I hope we get to see each other more after this,” Knight spoke up. His voice was quiet, but firm. There was determination in his tone. “Not just to help each other, but to talk. It would be nice to stop thinking about saving the world for once.”
“You need to come visit!” Rune exclaimed, “Not sure how similar our worlds are, but it would be nice to take a break once in a while.”
“That sounds nice,” Immortal closed his eyes.
Yeah… he liked the idea of that. When was the last time Immortal rested and didn’t stop to think about the state of the world? Traveling with his friends for the last several years was fun, but it’s been months since Immortal got to enjoy himself. Maybe he could ask COBO services for suggestions.
“Elsword!’ Nova’s voice forced him to blink and look up. “Glave said he’s ready!”
“What do you know, it’s already time.” Immortal murmured to himself. “Guess it’s time to watch the world end.”
“It’ll be okay.” Even Knight sounded unsure. He turned to Immortal for help, “Right?”
“Guess we’ll find out very soon,” Rune had an uneasy smile. “We have the front row seats to watch it unfold.”
Immortal wondered what went through Rune and Knight’s minds as they passively sat there and witnessed a cruel image. Displayed on multiple screens was the same climatic scene of a redden world. Varnimyr was already red from the chaos caused by Rosso, but the portals have crushed the mountains and trees that made up the region. They dissipated into fine dust and sucked into the portals. The inhabitants’ cries were silenced by the light.
A blinding light flared from where they stood, beaming downward into a distant galaxy containing the demon realm. Immortal watched the light consume what was left of the crumbling dimension with a promise of starting anew. His very being felt electrified in response to the Dark El in the demon realm inverting on itself.
Glave remained standing in silence. His fingers traced over a diagram of portals overlaying between different spheres of galaxies and interdimensional planes. The display of writing and symbols meant nothing to Immortal.
“I look forward to watching the three of you make use of the reset” He heard Glave chuckle, “Don’t let it go to waste.”
He watched as Glave manipulated something to make the lines intertwine before his body snapped into shock. Unable to hold his head up, Immortal lost his focus and closed his eyes. Glave’s laughter echoed in his head.

Master Road story was a fuckin trip
I'm on mobile so I cant do a read more but there are spoilers in this so... Read at your own risk I guess???
--
Gaia is pure and such a GOOD DAD. Laby is too pure for this world and always will be. I will personally physically fight anyone who is mean to me daughter. I'm glad that she got to learn that it's better to talk about her feelings than to not do so just to avoid a fight tbh cuz otherwise that would've been really sad. Also, I really do love Ara and Eun's relationship. Just the way Eun calls Ara an "overly righteous child" even while sounding soft and appreciative??? I love it.
Rosso is an angry boy. He has every right to be though after everything he's been through good lord. Also, I really liked Elesis's reasoning for not wanting him to go into the Demon Realm. I also did kind of like the fact that he and Lu didn't get along??? Like, she was really rude to him and he was rude back and then she tried to push all the blame onto him and thats fucked up but I feel like it would've really jarring for them to get along. Idk it just seemed natural for them to "get along" the way that they did. Also Ciel being "lightly" sassy is everything I needed in life.
I'm very curious about the elf Lincy says she saw. My first thought was Lua but I'm not 100% on that. It's quite nice to finally get an explanation for what happened to Rena back in Feita too because that was fuckin weird. If I remember correctly she mentioned someone having beautiful eyes or something..?? Idk but it was weird. Ventus walking back in the front door because he forgot he snuck Rena out was honestly so damn funny. Rose's part was also very nice. It was nice to see her get some spotlight tbh. I have a soft spot for her not gonna lie (it started since shes my younger sibling's main but I did come to really like her). I noticed in the comments of Rose's videos that people were confused as to why she was so calm, but I wasnt really. She did mention to Zero that she's known for a while. And considering how much time she's likely had to think about, she's likely accepted that there's very little she can do about it in her current situation. So she focuses on what's in front of her right now. She's a soldier. She has to focus on the things in front of her before she can worry about the things that aren't and she's trained to do exactly that. So I didn't find it particularly weird for her to be calm in that situation.
CHUNG HURT ME. I was honestly just shot in the heart when Chung said looking for his father was him being greedy. That whole thing sucked. Aisha was super sweet to him though and that was amazing to see. Aisha was so confident too. That was really nice to see. I'm curious about the Landar family secrets now. Also the Denif in the seal didn't have to get that fuckin deep. Like holy shit. Also, Ciel comparing Chung to a sad puppy in the rain was so cute. Ciel wasn't wrong but at least Chung has cheered up some now.
I didn't think I could hate Adrian more than I already do but mY GOD. He makes me want to throw up. I hate him so much. I'm super pissed. The stories he told Add and Eve were WAY too different too. Ngl I apologized to Eve out loud because her "father" is a disappointment. I am honestly worried about what Adrian's going to do with the data he collected on Add... I just. That whole part made my skin crawl. I hated it. It was super nice to see Add drag him through the dust and for Eve to tell him off though. Also, I have never been more proud of either of them in my entire life. They've both grown so much. Hearing Add talk to his mom was so sad and yet so nice at the same time. And when Eve talked about Elsword, Aisha, Rena, and Raven, it was honestly amazing. AND HERBAON IS FRIENDS WITH NONO I'm so glad. Nono isn't alone anymore and Herbaon has A FRIEND. Also, Eve is such a good big sister to Herbaon and you cannot change my mind. Tbh I feel like if Raven hadn't said "see you soon" Add could very well have made a very different choice. Raven is so good.
Speaking of Raven... RAVEN IS DYING???????????????????? I AM NOT OKAY??? I mean I cant say I'm surprised tbh but OUCH. And he knew this whole time too. Like damn. I highly doubt they'll actually kill off a playable character so I'm honestly hoping it'll result in some Raven and Eve bonding since she's realistically the only one that could help him with the situation he's in. I'm really hoping we get updates on Owen too since Elesis mentioned Velder nobles and then Raven started to ask. And typically something like that is used as foreshadowing and I would love some sweet Raven angst. It'll hurt but it'll be great. Also, Elsword not realizing his friends are his power was very fitting and honestly funny to me. I officially have a LOT of questions about Elsword. Though it's nice to know that he is in fact Rubenian. I haven't had enough time to mull everything over so rn I have a lot of questions and no answers. Also AIN HAS ANXIETY MY SON. Honestly, anxiety like that isn't anything I'd wish on most people but it makes a lot of sense for Ain to have it and I'm glad he got to know that nothing was wrong with him and that fearing change was completely normal. Hernia was so sweet and good in Ain's story. I especially liked when she mentioned that she wasn't a picky eater. Like it seems like such a small insignificant thing, but it pulled Ain out of his thoughts and his own head, which really did keep him from spiralling further. And I loved it.
All in all, the amount of character development and new information we got was good. Raven and Gaia both get dad of the year rewards because they're just such good dads (you WILL have to pry Eldad Raven from my cold dead hands). I kinda hope Adrian dies at some point because he's literally so awful but at the same time I don't want my Nasod children to be sad and unfortunately Adrian dying would make them sad. Anyway I'm proud of all of the El Search Party and the growing they've done. Still worried about some of them (*cough* Raven *cough*) but I was glad to see all of their individual stories touched on. I'll go more in depth on my thoughts of certain parts in other posts soon. This was mostly just a collection of my overall thoughts and like... initial impressions.

Conversation
very very rough translation of Elesis/LuCiel Epic Quest with Rosso
rosso: everything related to the protection of El is the masters and the priestesses' responsibility. you stay out of it.
ciel:??? dude wtf we
1. restored the el
2. fought against henir zealots
3. saved your fucking ass
rosso: yeah I can see just how ugly everything got if people like you guys were helping out
lu: !@$!@$Y#$%@#$
elesis: okay well w.e we gon go ask denif then
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
rosso: I SAID STAY OUT OF IT
lu: in case you forgot we beat your ass in varnimyr
rosso: yeah it was like 13v1
elesis: Alright, let's say that even someone with a demon's blood can be come master. Why did you become one?
ciel: yeah did you become master cuz you had some ulterior motive with the el or something
rosso: are you fucking kidding me right now
elesis: yeah why do you insist on going to the demon realm all by yourself? you know, other masters had to stay behind and let us go to the demon realm cuz they had to protect the el. you dont look like you care about that
rosso: others can protect the el. I can handle the demon realm by myself.
elesis: why do you want to go alone so bad? what's your hidden agenda?
rosso: what about you guys? why do YOU want to go back to the demon realm so bad? You find me suspicious cuz Im half demon and I want to go back to the demon realm?? How's that any different from you guys
rosso: you guys have a half demon AND a full blown demon. You guys are more suspicious than me
lu: what did you say you lil shit
we went through all that shit for a reason
rosso: Im saying that we did the same for Elrios as well. We did a lot of shit to protect this world
rosso: doing shit to save the world aint a competitive sport
elesis: why are you so fucking uptight
lu: what do you mean? this fucker is just crazy
ciel: I see. if he really meant harm, then he wouldnt be this defensive against us from the start. it's better to back stab when he has our guard lowered
elesis: yeah see how hes like threatening us physically but answering every single one of our questions? its like hes doing doing his bare minimum to make us understand
elesis: you just really want to stop us from going to the demon realm, huh
rosso: gdi
rosso: what makes you think you guys have to go to the demon realm?
elesis: in order to stop the Order and fully restore the El, we need the Dark El.
ciel: You're not entirely wrong. It doesn't necessarily have to be us to find the Dark El.
ciel: but think about it logically. There's no other team that's more suitable for this mission than ESP. Isnt that true?
rosso: I...
elesis: you alone doesnt make a team. You have a ridiculously low success rate if you jump into the battlefield by yourself.
elesis: i mean sometimes you gotta make 5 teams each with 2 people but uhh
rosso: I dont give a shit
elesis: right back at ya, ESP is under the velder kingdom. we dont have to listen to you, a so-called higher up from a kingdom long gone
rosso: that place is an abyss. none of the shit like order and process work there
rosso: wasnt it enough to lose your brother to the el once?
elesis: :tears:
ciel: you talking like we're going to demon realm to die
rosso: look, if everything worked out the way you plan, then the El wouldn't have exploded in the first place
rosso: going to a world where there isnt El or the influence of the Goddess means you have to be prepared for death. You guys have way too many things to lose to do that.
rosso: you have a shit ton of precious things to protect and yet you want to drive yourselves into danger? you've gotta be kidding me
elesis: so what, are you saying youre going to sacrifice yourself in our place cuz you got nothing to lose or something?
rosso: Im just trying to do my damn job, stop making shit up
lu: wait so you been spewing shit to us just so you can--
rosso: --I SAID STOP MAKING SHIT UP
ciel: I mean if youre that worried about us, how about you come with us?
lu: lol if it was something like that, you could've just asked honestly from the beginning. I could've pulled some strings for ya
rosso: I swear Im going to kill you
elesis: well of course I dont want Elsword to involve himself in dangerous things, honestly
rosso: and yet you...
elesis: but this is the path we chose
elesis: a path that I chose
rosso: ...
rosso: I dont give a flying fuck on what path you chose
rosso: if you insist that much on going to the demon realm, then there will come a time when you have to make a decision
rosso: whether you have conviction, act recklessly or not, at the end of the day, if you got something that you have to choose over the other, it'll definitely hold you back
rosso: you didnt want to sacrifice your brother so you dragged him out of the El. Are you trying to die for him?
lu: what
ciel: what are you trying to say
rosso: how much more do I have to explain
ciel: why are you thinking complicated things when they didnt even happen yet
rosso: what
elesis: what
ciel: so youre saying, to go to the demon realm, we have to cut all ties, get rid of all worldly possessions, and jump in there all alone? you can think however you want, but I dont agree with that
ciel: it just looks like youre threatening us, like asking if we're ready to give up our lives for someone else in hopes of stopping us but
ciel: from the moment we decided to get elsword out of el, we already made up our mind
ciel: even if someone's life is on the line like you said, then I'll survive no matter what. Knowing Lu doesn't want me to die, I can't afford to lose my life.
lu: :tears:
rosso: the fk is wrong with you guys
lu: ciel's right
rosso: what
lu: we almost wasted our time worrying about useless shit. You got viscerally upset when I said we have to return to the demon realm to keep a promise
lu: if you think trying to survive is more important than trying to keep a promise, then how come you dont practice what you preach?
lu: dont you also value promises and conviction more?
rosso: Im different. I've been given a power.
elesis: youre so fucking stubborn i cant even
lu: me and ciel are bound by a contract. I might have considered what you said if I wanted to go back to the demon realm just to exact my vengeance.
lu: if something happens to me, I might not be able to save ciel
lu: but I still have to return because someone loyal to me is still there
lu: I mean its kinda meaningless to compare him with ciel, but as long as we've made our promise, winster is my people as well
lu: I forgot, for such a long time, what it's like to lead people, to take care of those who follow you
lu: why do I want to go to the demon realm?
lu: Im returning to reclaim my stolen throne. I will save my people, fulfill their wishes and at times punish them if I must.
lu: who's to stop a lord from returning to her domain to do what is asked of her?
rosso: :glare:
elesis: we already experienced a time when we had to make our choice, like ciel said
elesis: we made up my mind to go through even the most impossible things together
rosso:  Im an idiot for trying to persuade a group of idiots like you
lu: do you finally feel like explaining things now
rosso: dont get your hopes up. Im only telling you cuz I know you idiots cant use this method
ciel: I think Im slowly getting used to his abrasive tone, after listening to it for so long. Okay, we won't think you've admitted defeat after you were persuaded by us, so just tell us
rosso: listen you little shit
rosso: Alright. Remember when I said I was suppressing the fire el's power with demonic aura?
rosso: the power of fire is much more difficult to control than other elements. there are enough of those who burned to ash because they couldnt withstand its destructive power
rosso: rosso clan was always trying to produce a master of fire, and decided they'll need a new form of power to suppress the power of fire el, for example...
rosso: something completely different from the el's power. Like a demonic energy.
elesis: they did what now
rosso: it's not much of a stretch to say that no one knew anything about demons back then. from their perspective, i was just a kid with a strange power.
rosso: of course I didnt have much as an actual demon, but my intrinsic demonic power was good enough for me to be a subject of their experiments The red eye was transplanted into me, and I was able to control the power of fire.
rosso: ...it wasn't without an accident, but in any case, the power of fire and the demonic aura are constantly at a balance inside of me. When one of them disappears, the other goes rampant
rosso: on the day we all decided to imbue the el shards with our respective element, I was the most problematic one
ciel: I see... from the process of trying to transfer the power of fire into the el shard, the balance between your demonic aura and the power of fire crumbled...
rosso: chaotic continent, missing masters... if they had a rampant half-demon on top of that, Elrios would not look the way it does today
elesis: that's why you went to the demonic realm? so you wouldn't go rampant in elrios???
rosso: /shrug
rosso: as the el exploded, temporal rifts were created all over elrios, sporadically. the phenomena was worse near powerful el shards
rosso: I was able to cross into the demon realm thanks to those rifts. After creating the fire el, I jumped into one of those rifts before I completely lost my sanity
rosso: thats the end of my story. now do you see why I said you cant use this method?
lu: you...
ciel: the priestesses couldnt help you? though theyre not blessed in the combative aspect like masters, I thought theyre the same when it comes to using the power related to the el
rosso: the priestess system was still pretty new at the time. They were busy trying to learn from masters too. Creating the elemental el as inexperienced priestesses is like betting your life on it
elesis: why did you go to that extent? even you couldnt have guaranteed your safety when you jumped into the rift. Are you saying even that was part of your mission?
rosso: hmph, there's no one who can tell me to do that shit
elesis: the tower you were locked away in... didnt have an entrance or an exit, blocked off completely, enough for the power of fire which was trying to return to you could only circle around the tower itself
lu: you locked yourself in so you wouldnt hurt others
rosso: I told you everything you wanted to know, so are you happy now?
elesis: rosso, I really dont want you to go to the demon realm
rosso: are you looking down on me after hearing that sob story?
elesis: no it's not that, I just think I know how much you think its natural for you to sacrifice yourself
elesis: I think I know why Im concerned about you. You are similar to my brother.
elesis: I dont know what happened in the past, but... I think he made that decision because he thought similar things as you once did
elesis: you've sacrificed yourself enough. You banished yourself to protect Elrios. I cant even imagine what it's like to hold out in a prison made to imprison yourself for hundreds of years, but
elesis: elrios stands today thanks to the efforts you guys went through. you can leave it to us now
ciel: we're not as weak as you think we are
lu: I can see why you didnt want to tell us. It wasnt particularly helpful, but thanks anyway
rosso: youre really annoying..
lu: the sentiment is mutual
rosso: now fuck off if you're done talking. I have to do more control training
ciel: youre more diligent than you look
rosso: do you wanna die
lu: it doesnt look like you're completely healed yet
lu: you're having trouble controlling your power without the eye, are you not
elesis: so thats what ventus meant when he said youre training to overcome what you've lost
rosso: that pointy eared fucker
ciel: wait; you were having difficulty controlling? but you fought so well...
rosso: like I said, you guys cant beat me in an even fight
lu: I really hate this guy

Regrets
Characters:
Elsword (Lord Knight)
Aisha (Elemental Master)
Elesis (Grand Master)
Plot:
A couple of weeks after the First Date. Inspired by “A Crossing of Stars” by Mirai Akina in FanFiction.
Story:
“Elsword....” Aisha whined. “We gotta get back to studying...”
Elsword ignore her advice and continue on giving her many kisses all over her neck. Aisha tries to escape from his grasp, but she couldn’t. All she can do was enjoy the bliss she was getting from Elsword’s kisses. She squeaked a bit when Elsword found that spot that makes her feel like she’s in heaven.
You’re probably wondering what’s happening right now. Well, after their first date, the two pretty much became a couple. They were back to their old selves; arguing, bickering and teasing. Doesn’t sound much? Well to Elsword, it was his dream come true, especially since now they can hold hands, kiss and cuddle together.
Anyways, Elsword and Aisha had a big test coming for them; so, somehow, Elsword convinced Aisha to study together at his house. When they were studying, Aisha thought it was time for a break. Which somehow led to this...
How? Even I don’t know. Anyways, as Elsword was pleasuring Aisha, a knock came from his door.
“Elsword!” Yelled Elesis. “You guys need anything? I’m gonna head to the market and get some food for diner.”
Elsword cursed in silent. “Uh, no I’m good!” He yelled as he try to get Aisha off of him.
“Okay, how about you Aisha? Do you want anything?”
Aisha was panting, no thanks to Elsword’s actions. “I’m fine Elesis, thank you!” She replied.
“Okay... don’t do anything immoral you two!” Elesis said as she walks away from Elsword’s door.
Elsword sigh, “That was too close,”
POW
Aisha whacked him on his head.
“Ow! What was that for?” He asked.
“You idiot! If your sister didn’t knock... W-we...” Aisha stuttered.
“We what?”
Aisha was quiet and was looking away when Elsword finally realized what she meant and started blushing.
“I-I didn’t mean to take it that far!!! I swear, I wouldn’t do that until we... we... we...” Elsword couldn’t say the last part because it was embarrassing for him.
“A-anyways, we should probably grab something from the kitchen before we go back to studying.”
“Yeah, we should,” Aisha replied.
Elsword and Aisha went into the kitchen to grab something eat real quick before they go back to studying.
“Hey Aisha?”
“Yeah?”
For awhile, Elsword has this feeling that’s been engulfing him ever since he and Aisha became a couple, and something tells him that he has to confront soon or it’ll destroy him.
“Well... can you tell my why?”
“Why what?” Aisha replied.
“...Why do you love me?”
Aisha was speechless, Elsword rarely makes a serious conversation unless it involves their favorite tv shows, gaming or any news about the streamer that gone missing since Elsword’s encounter with her.
“What? Why would you ask that?”
“Oh c’mon, isn’t it obvious? After everything I did to you, all those pranks, all those names, all those... painful memories...” Elsword started gripping his hands as he start remembering all those memories of Aisha crying after every prank he pulled on her.
“It just...” He took a deep breath, “Why do you still love me after everything I’d done to you?”
Aisha was quiet but Elsword wouldn’t dare to look at her, letting out all the guilt he had ever since they started dating.
Aisha got off her seat and walked in front of Elsword.
“Elsword? Look at me,” Aisha replied, guiding her hands towards his face, making him look up toward her. As Elsword moves his head up, he see Aisha with her Amethyst eyes, shinning bright with love and reassurance.
“Els, I never stopped falling fo you, ever since I found out how I felt toward you, I hoped that if I distance myself toward you, you’d move on. But, instead, you desperately try to get my attention again, even after I told you not to. Seeing you try gave me a small glimpse of hope that maybe... just maybe... that you feel the same for me. And then, when you apologized to me... I couldn’t help myself but tell you the truth. And you know what you did? You confessed to me... after I hit you for touching my chest, pervert.”
This brought a chuckle to Elsword despite his tears eyes. Aisha then brought him closer to her and hugged him, “But still, I knew you didn’t mean to make me cry. You just wanted to go back to the way it was, just us two, having the time of our lives.”
“At first, Elsword interrupted. “I did; but, I had someone tell me that these feelings I have are more than that. I wanted to be closer to you, I wanted you by my side, I want to be by your side...”
Elsword hugged tighter.
“Hurting you, was my biggest regret. I promise, I’ll never hurt you again. I’ll will make you happy no matter what.”
Elsword and Aisha stayed there, hugging one another, showing the love they have for each other, until...
“Though, I do like where I’m at right now,” Elsword said, smirking.
By the time Aisha realized where he meant, she sceamed, “YOU IDIOT!” And smack him.
Another normal day passed by for these two lovebirds.
The next day, Elsword waited for Aisha near her house, “Hey Aisha!” He yelled.
Aisha was still upset about yesterday, “What are you doing, idiot?”
“I told you, I want to walk to school with you,” He answered with a smile, which makes her heart skip a beat.
She sigh, “I just can’t stay mad at you, can I?”
“Nope.”
And so, the two walked to school together, holding hands and talking along the way.

Elsword PvP Stereotypes: 2nd Edition
Alright. It’s been a year and a half. Let’s do this again, sure.
Unlike last time, where people salting at me during the match contributed to a large portion of the character stereotype, I only have their gameplay to work off of this season. Mostly. Rage whispers have gone down significantly which honestly is a change that's good for everyone. {Nod nod.}
{Additional commentary by @demos-cloud will be in braces}, and my responses to her commentary will be italicized, since I’ve ah. Ranted to her about a lot of these before, and asked her to help proofread.
Elsword: Bullheaded, stubborn, and does not think very far ahead.
This is mostly thanks to the amount that they've built up Elsword's defensive options lately. The changes to Autoguard mean that Knight Emperor doesn't really have to worry even if he gets caught (I've had more games turned around thanks to that than I care to admit). Infinity Stoic is still a thing, not in the least helped by the large number of quick, stoic approaches and normals he has. Melee Elsword gameplay basically rewards LEEROY JENKINS. Rune Masters are surprisingly rare.
Aisha: Still Bullies.
This has always been the case. Though lately I've come to the realization that Aisha, and Void Princess' line in particular, usually stays out of PvP unless she has access to something dangerously close to hacking. Meditate+Trans slot cooldown drops are always popular, but Oz Sorcerer lives and dies depending on whether she can pretend-hack or not (looking at you, Angkor Millions and Shadow Body). Metamorphy's population likewise dropped drastically as soon as they nerfed the stoic on her >>X(Z). {Her damage output was also hit hard by the Impact Zone nerf in PvE.}
Rena: Slime.
There's been a lot of complaining about the changes to the NF system, though honestly it's probably better for PvP-health in the long term. Now, instead of basically being guaranteed to eat 3 cancelled Violent Attacks to the face in the middle of every single combo, you probably only have to worry about it happening once or twice per game. They're still really slippery, thanks in large part to physics bending over backwards around her and >>Z being so fast, though their PvP numbers have taken a drastic drop since the nerf.
Raven:
Basically only the oldest Raven mains are left, a corps of elite veterans who know their character and yours inside and- oh and I guess you have the bandwagon RH horde. {Man the bias is practically dripping out of your mouth here Ketsu.} The majority of my Raven matches are against players who I recognize on sight, though. The canon Raven has certainly been getting spoiled, comparatively speaking, though the fact that KoG nerfed M.Maximum Drive almost immediately is a good sign. RH is still probably the most consequence-free Raven at the moment; he doesn't really have to worry about taking combos because it's extremely likely he'll be able to mash a Spread out and revenge-catch you if there's even the tiniest delay or mistake.
{PvE is full of old, rich, Ravens as well. BMs/FBs especially are the oldest and most funded. Yeah they know their class in and out, but they’re also not above shelling out $200 to +11 that glorious Void weapon. VCs are dead.}
Eve: Nasod Bitch. Runs on money. {はい、はい。}
Eve on the whole is very confrontation-adverse, and all three of her classes avoid direct combat. Good thing for her, too; aside from the Exotic line Eve's combo game is so poor she can barely hold anyone in place on her own. All three Eves have very strong utilities kits which are supposed to come with a weak damage-per-hit ratio, but Eve players are already very strongly conditioned to spoil her rotten. Nobody's ever been accused of spending too little on her, after all. Codes 4v1 and Sariel both just dunk on melee-centric characters, and Ultimate has enough unsafe-cancels and core synergy that you'll be spending more time eating lasers than spears. {Like I’ve been saying for the past four years, Eve’s Core Release system was built for CN. Of course she has the best Core synergy out of all Eves.} Illusion Thorns' debuff field really should not trigger core. Raven's lingering skill effects (grenade fires and smoke clouds) have NEVER triggered his core, and those at least deal damage, but I guess even KoG isn't tired of spoiling Eve just yet. {Maybe it’s because Illusion Thorns’ debuff area only lasts a measly two seconds compared to Raven’s lingering AoEs (dead laugh).} Raven’s lingering AoEs also only last for a couple seconds, too, though. {oh.}
Chung: HERE I GO. {HERE I GO!!}
Hoo boy. Okay. After the absolute Chung dominance in the 1v1 tournament, there's been a significant rise in Chung PvP populations. Sure, Base Chung has Heavy Stance to mitigate being slow and getting caught, but these three basically never have to deal with such puny things as "consequences" and Heavy Stance itself has actually been vanishingly rare. {DC really should not have so many Heavy Stance/stoic opportunities, given that his whole backstory is based around being faster and thus, being less defensive. IP’s ridiculously high attack speed is abnormal and needs to die. Even back in S1 it was a pain to deal with…} Back Blast and Reload are core skills not because of utility or reload, but because they're such hard to deal with panic buttons when strung together. Cannonball management is a total farce. Super spoiled, getting amazing tools and mod skills with each update. A few significant differences between them:
Comet: Basically indestructible. Will not die. A rocket powered turtle who can strike you from anywhere in the map and always has an advantageous position. The new goddess of PvP, stripping Yama Raja of the title. You could just tell that a couple of the tournament finalists were screwing around and winning anyway, and that flagrant disregard for consequences has been adopted by the bandwagoners. {I feel like having one of the IP semifinalists intentionally handicap himself of the class’ best skills, fool around, and still manage a strong victory.. Really says a lot about the class’ current standing.}
Phantom: Homing Ruthless attacks for days. Mod Shooting Star caused a lot of passive ruthless to get stripped, but I guess there was enough of a Chung tantrum that they got it back on base Shooting Star AND in M.Burning Punisher. Could probably win a game blindfolded thanks to all the high-damage homing at his disposal. A non-berserk awakening is so rare you honestly think it's a glitch. {Remember when it was only like a 25% activation chance. lmao.}
Centurret: After a long and arduous process of moderately intelligent cockroaches bashing on keyboards tested every possible configuration, tactics have been finely reduced to "if your dog craps on enough lawns, someone is going to step in it." Instant-hit Grav Shots are far more than any character deserves, especially when they have practically no vertical limit, and whoever approved of this as an Siege mode option should be spaghettified.
Ara:
Lately, the number of Aras who fully depend on the X or ^X loop has gone down. Devi is still incredibly oppressive, able to basically slam their face on the skill bar whenever they're in trouble to turn it around with any one of their many, many incredible utility actives (with skill storage). Shakti populations have been on the rise in comparison, though as a Shakti main myself I can't really comment on any other trends without being... more biased than usual. {Dead in PvE, though very willing to shell out money. More-so than other Ara classes, I find (even Devis, yes!)} Apsaras generally rely way too much on Kite or Suppression and barely have two brain cells to rub together, having godawful combo maintenance outside of the aforementioned X loop, despite Ara's strong kit. {They changed how ZZXX works how else am I supposed to do fancy combos nowwwww} It feels like if they did have any more to work with they would've job changed to Devi by now.
Elesis:
Population is in decline, but still powerful. Empire Sword still has some of the most safe combo maintenance in the game, and it's exceedingly rare for her to make anything remotely resembling a mistake. {The fact that she has such a high DPS ratio in PvP really hurts, what gives.} INJECTION finally got the nerf it deserved and is starting to sound like a word again. Fire Wallsis is still horrifically oppressive if it goes off, however, and reduces many games against her to "play perfectly or die."
Add:
Doom Bringers are vanishingly rare. Dominators basically all spontaneously ceased to exist once Charged Impulsar got nerfed and they realized they'd actually have to try in PvP again. Paradox is, once again, the most popular PvP Add, and for some reason still has an infinite. Purple is the color of bullies, it turns out. {Death to purples.}
Lu: Almost as Leeroy Jenkins as Elsword, but not a large sample to work with.
If the dive that magnetically homes in on targets wasn't enough of a giveaway, Lu's ability to zero in on a target is still very high. Diangelion's switch-attacks have the same bizarre hitboxes and gravity as ever. Lu in general seems to be about throwing giant hitboxes around the map and hoping they hit something, and her combo game is so safe that there really isn't need for precision there, either. {If she can’t hit you with a command normal or a skill, she’ll lag you out with her FPS-killing abilities. Surprisingly not very high up on the whale list, and even lower on the whales-for-fashion list.}
Ciel mains still don't exist. {Nobu would be sad to hear this.}
Rose: Rich, but shallow.
You're basically not even a Rose main if you don't have an 11+, the same way you're basically not a Chung main if you can't get 4+ X-drops in a single launch. {I am apparently no longer a Rose/F. Gunner main. Okay.} Their gameplay shows no personality to speak of, and you'll be fighting the same kind of Rose tactics at Rank C that you will at Star. Despite being the only non-Chung in the 1v1 Finals, Minerva has actually seen something of a population decrease lately. I imagine a lot of players disliked the fact that the player got to finals by using a Freeze Grenade infinite.
{POs seem like one of the most funded Rose classes, despite being lowtier in both PvP and PvE. About 20% of them have an elitist complex, and another 40% only play her because “OMG MECHA WAIFU”. I’ve only encountered like two POs who acknowledge that she feels and plays nothing like her DFO counterpart, and the fact that I had to argue with a super stubborn NA forumer about this is flat-out stupid. Ah, also. TBs are dead now. Unsurprisingly.}  PvP Rose is actually mostly TB thanks to her pseudo-meditate.
Ain: I was horribly, terribly, no-good very bad wrong about the prediction last time.
PvP Ain is as homogenous across all three paths as Rena: {はい、はい。} Base Ain normals are so strong that the only ones his other classes really use are dives. Otherwise, you can treat all Ains the same. Watch out for airdashes, stomps, Xes, and basically a full kit of backwards melee hitboxes (we got rid of that on the Polar Bear suit for a reason, right? Right??) which are all so strong that, even though the bug has been patched out, Schwert Platzen is still a core PvP skill for all Ains. Bluhen is very rare in PvP, due mostly to the fact that he doesn't have a dive combo. Richter basically plays "The floor is lava" the entire game. The stomp noise is as annoying and stuck in my head as Aisha's "HYA" voice clip now and is a standout among Ain's generally obnoxious sound design. {Maybe if KoG gave us more combo options my fellow Richters wouldn’t have to sink this low.}
his german is off but i appreciate the effort.

DL sees someone bathing in the hot spring with their back turned to him. He's interested in this beauty, such smooth pale skin, but little does he know that it's RG with his hair down?!
Dreadlord has seen a lot of beauties in his years - as an assassin, as a mafia boss, as the bodyguard slash babysitter of a hyperactive chibi-fied demon queen - but he has to admit, just from the back, the beauty before him is easily one of the most beautiful he has seen, from an overall point of view.
Long silky hair with a shade of blue, with a light blue towel laid overtop. Smooth skin that looks like it was kissed by moonlight itself. A beautiful body structure, just from the shoulder above alone. He almost forgets the fact that he is only clad in a towel, too busy admiring the sight.
Dreadlord is faced with the existential crisis that he might just be perverse peeping tom.
He isn’t.
Really, he isn’t.
He just knows how to admire beauty. He isn’t a pervert. He is a pure and innocent person (well, half-demon, but who cares) but he knows how to appreciate looks.
(…Goddamn mixed baths.)
He quickly averts his eyes and tries to slip out.
“Weren’t you going in?” a voice suddenly speaks up. It’s a low sound, nice and relaxing to the ears. A bit deeper than he imagined, but hey, who is he to judge?
“I’m sorry ma’am, I didn’t mean to, ma’am. I will be going now, enjoy your bath. Haha.” Dreadlord instantly replies.
A splash. “What drugs are you on now?” The beauty asks. She sounds really familiar.
It must be the hot spring thing. The Elswords, Chungs, and Adds looked like identical relaxed noodles after it, so Dreadlord doesn’t give much more thought. He thanks the El. The beauty sounds like she isn’t giving two fucks about anything.
“Anyways, enjoy yourself, I have to go and make some sweets for Lu. It’s almost time for her tea.”
Anything except Lu’s tea anyw- wait.
Wait, what, what did she just say?
Dreadlord gives himself a whipslash turning his head and behold: the glorious beauty rising from the waters, a rainfall of silky locks falling over moonkissed skin, sharp features accentuated by electric blue eyes that Dreadlord himself was born with, the other being a near identical image of himself.
“What?” Royal Guard raises an eyebrow in all his naked, beautiful, and decidedly masculine glory.
Dreadlord: “!!!”
.
“The hell is wrong with him?” Lunatic Psyker demands Royal Guard, yabbing a finger at Dreadlord, who is sitting to the side. Zoning out. Quietly. It creeps the hell out of him.
“Ask him, not me.” Royal Guard replies, more busy with mixing the sugar and flour in his bowl.
This guy creeps the hell out of him too, Lunatic Psyker decides. He still can’t get over how the normally carefree and murder trigger happy Dreadlord, budding Lord of Terror, could’ve been an uptight, serious, and solemn butler in another timeline.
He’s more of a nanny than Dreadlord had ever been though.

clean slate (11/?)
Pairing: (eventual) addcest [LPDE] & elsain [LKATh] WC this chapter: 3600 Rating: T+ TWs: (past) abuse AU: modern/single parent Lusa (with his tiny son Arc) + runaway Esper (hah) Notes: i wont spoil anything but i feel like this is my favorite chapter so far
ao3 link
It’s with a heavy heart that Esper shoves a shirt into his backpack and then, after a second’s deliberation, grabs another one, Lusa’s, from where it’s thrown over the laundry basket. He’d never thought he would feel like this one day, throwing essentials into a bag to leave, heart in the pit of his stomach. He’d never thought he’d get attached to a place.
The last time he’d done this, much less peacefully, he’d been full of adrenaline, panic coursing through his very veins. He remembers looking over his shoulder the whole time, watching carefully if his father stirs from his unconsciousness. He doesn’t to that now; doesn’t have to, since he’d hear either Lusa or Arc coming long before they’d see him pushing all the overflowing things further into the bag to zip it up.
He can’t help but wonder if he’ll be missed. Arc had grown attached to him, and Lusa was nice to him, but ultimately, they’d go back to how they were before he’d turned up. Lusa will probably be happier, having his workshop all to himself again, not having to care for Esper’s untimely outbursts.
He resolves to stop thinking about it lest he start crying and wakes someone up with the sound.
He throws the bag over his shoulder and then picks up the note he’d spent an agonizingly long time writing up. He places it onto the dining table for Lusa to find easily in the morning. He would feel bad for leaving without even saying a goodbye, but he can’t exactly do that without Lusa attempting to stop him. He could also go for a hug that he knows Lusa would provide more than happily, but he also can’t have that, even if he feels so, so cold. Suddenly it doesn’t feel like the summer anymore.
Esper shakes his head to clear it and then slips on his shoes. He can’t handle turning around eve once more to look at the house he’d come to call home, a real home as it’s defined in the dictionaries, as opposed to the prison he’d spent his life at before.
He steps onto the dark street with quaking shoulders.
                                                         —
“Heey! Give back my dinosaur!”
“Shea!”
“But da-ad! It’s my turn!”
“That’s my dinosaur!”
“Shea, you lost your dinosaur last week. Give it back to your brother.”
“But da——d!”
“No buts! Give it back and go brush your teeth, both of your. It’s way past your bedtime.”
“...okay…”
Arme sighs, adding ‘get Shea a new toy dinosaur’ to his mental to-do list. He turns to Knight, who is still sitting on the sofa, fiddling with his phone and the strap on it. Arme’s expression melts as he sits by him, enveloping him with an arm.
“You tired?” he asks, bumping into Knight’s head with his.
Knight chuckles and returns the gesture. “A little. I still can’t believe what happened to Lusa today.”
Arme’s answer is a nod. He takes the phone from his husband’s hands and puts it onto the coffee table. The entire conversation is ingrained in his brain just as much as it is in Knight’s.
Knight had called Lusa to ask about going bowling next weekend, but it’d been obvious Lusa was not alright just from his tone of voice. Knight had put him on speaker then, and Arme had found his way into the living room, drawn by their discussion.
Lusa told them what had happened, and then promptly cried soft sobs into the phone. He didn’t want to wake up anyone, but Knight and Arme were lending an ear, he just couldn’t help it.
Knight had assured Lusa he’d personally be of help hiding the body if Asker were to ever show up again. Arme wasn't sure how to feel — because on one hand he completely agreed, but he also kew Knight was completely serious, so on the other hand he wished it wouldn’t come to that.
Finally, they managed to coerce Lusa to get some sleep, but ‘out of sight, out of mind’ never really worked its supposed magic with them.
“We’re a family,” Arme tells Knight, slow and deliberate. “We protect our own. God help those who would try harming Esper.”
Knight grins tiredly and then leans up to place a kiss to Arme’s temple. His lips linger there for a moment, and when they leave, Knight’s entire head rests on Armes shoulder instead. “You always know what to say.”
“Don’t make fun of me—”
“I’m not! I’m not,” Knight defends himself, “I mean it. That was very ice.”
Arme huffs. “You didn’t marry me because of my linguistic abilities or lack thereof.”
“You’re right, I married you for that sweet cheque you bring home every month.”
“Elsword Knight Sieghart-Ishmael, I swear—”
“Dad! Papa! We want a story!” Anpa cries from the upper floor, much to Knight’s elation. He uses the distraction to slip out of Arme’s hold and heads upstairs.
Arme watches with a fond look. He also adds ‘buy Knight something nice from that sweet cheque he brings home every month’ to his to-do list. It’s really getting too long at this point.
It’s not much later that he follow upstairs, stationing himself at the door of their boys’ room like a guard, listening in on every soft word Knight reads from the boys’ favorite storybook. The story of the fearless knight and the crystal of life. Arme knows it by heart, could probably wi a recital , that’s how many times he’d read it already. And Knight alike, probably even a few more times than him.
Still, there is no such thing calming like his husband’s voice piercing the nightly silence, and Arme closes his eyes to enjoy it to the fullest. It’s not like he can’t picture Knight’s smiles and fond looks aimed at their sons with perfection anyway.
He’s almost lulled to sleep himself by the time Knight finishes the story and places kisses on their boys’ heads, doing his best not to wake either of them. He’s smiling sleepily as he leaves the room, the click of the door handle hiding the smack their lips make as they come together.
“Let’s sleep, too,” he whispers, and Arme is nodding along with practiced ease, though he swoops down to get one more kiss beforehand.
Knight is tugging his shirt off before they’re even in the bedroom, sending it flying towards the direction of the bathroom. Arme would laugh if he didn’t feel similarly tired. He starts working his clothes off when Knight pipes up from the dresser, holding their pajamas in his hands with unnatural stiffness.
He’s staring out of the window as if transfixed.
“Is that—” He leans over the dresser, knocking over a — fortunately unlit — candle holder. “Is that Esper?!”
Arme frowns, running over so he can look out the window himself Sure enough, the figure passing their house has Esper’s hair, and is tall enough to pass for him. Arme’s breathing stutters as soon as he notices the bulging backpack on the figure’s back.
It might just be a coincidence, but then again…
There’s no one in the town who resembles Esper, especially not like that. Arme is rushing to get his phone from its charging station on the bedside table.
“We have to call Lusa,” he says, already doing just that. Knight peeks peering out the window, watches the figure go further and further down the street.
“What’s that way—?” Knight asks, but it hits him almost the second the words leave his lips. “The bus stop! Arme, he’s planning to leave!”
Knight’s panicked words only serve to make the dialing tones more terse. “Pick up, pick up, God, make him pick up alread—”
“Hm? Arme?” Lusa slurs from the other side of the line, obviously having been just awoken.
“Lusa, is Esper home?” Arme asks in a rush.
Lusa sounds confused, and Arme can almost see the little crease between his brows. “Wha? He went to bed before me…? Why’re you askin’?”
“Lusa, I need you to go check Esper’s room right the fuck now. Knight, I’m gonna start the car,” Arme instructs, pulling his shirt back on haphazardly.
There’s a distant, “Wow! Language!”
“Did something happen?” Lusa asks, starting to wake up more. Arme isn’t sure whose heavy footsteps he hears; Lusa’s or his own. The automatic light turns on as he steps onto the porch, already clicking the car lock off.
“Fuck!” Lusa hisses into his ear, “He’s not here! It’s a fucking mess, what happened?” He sounds just as panicked as Arme knows he is.
“Knight saw him going down our street a few ago,” he tries explaining. Hes jabbing the key into the ignition and pushing the phone against his shoulder with the side of his face as he peels off the driveway, making a sharper turn than he ever would during daylight. “He had a bag. Knight thinks he’s going to the bus stop.”
“Fuck! What’s he thinking?”
Arme has no answer for that question, but he knows Lusa does. There’s silence for a few blocks and then Lusa breathes heavily into the receiver and says, “I’ll be there in ten minutes. Please, stop him.”
“That’s the plan,” Arme cuts off, Lusa’s voice fading off with the end of the call.
                                                        —
Lusa’s hands tremble as he holds the paper, wrinkling it with the force of his grip. He wishes he could unread something, but alas, he has no such powers or luck.
— Lusa,
I hope you had a good rest. I decided it was too dangerous for me to stay when father knows there this is. I can’t imagine if he’d hurt you or Arc and I can’t risk it. Sorry I left without a word, but I don’t want you to try to stop me. It’s better this way. You’ll be safe if you don’t know where I am. My father is a dangerous man, you’re lucky nothing happened to you yesterday. Please please don’t look for me.
Thank you for everything. I hope I can repay you one say, somehow.
— Esper
Lusa feels like what he’d just read isn’t real, but Arme had made it all too real, and painfully so. He’s grabbing his keys before he can think about it a second longer, running out in nothing but his pajamas and bedheaded hair.
The letter gets shoved into his pocket haphazardly and Lusa wants to forget it exists, but it’s burning a hole through his jeans and soul alike. Nothing save it feels real at the moment; the dark and quiet transforms the town into something unfamiliar, strange.
The drive feels at once endless and over too soon. Lusa’s sneakers drag over the concrete as he half-jogs to the bus stop, breathing out an immediate sigh of relief when he spots a hunched-over figure.
Esper sits on the bench, the lone street lamp that reaches the secluded spot casting long shadows over his figure. Sure enough, there’s a bag on his shoulders. He was really planning on leaving.
Lusa can’t breathe.
“Esper!” he cries, breaking out into a full run and almost tripping himself over a curb.
Esper jerks, turning a wide-eyed face towards him, recoiling almost immediately. Lusa comes to a halt when he reaches him, panting and with equally wide-eyed stare. Esper is holding up his arms in front of his chest as if waiting to be struck down, to defend himself. The implications churn Lusa’s stomach in the very opposite of a good way.
How does he show Esper that he wouldn’t hurt him, never ever again? Each day, each tiny jolt and jerk and careful, fearful glance he beats himself up for contributing to it, wishing there was a way to re-do history and change not only his meeting with Esper, but everything else as well.
He only just notices Arme sitting next to Esper when he leans to look at him closer, frowning like Lusa had done something awful. And, fuck, Lusa doesn’t need him to remind him too; he’s very capable of kicking his brain himself, thank you very much.
He all but collapses at Esper’s feet, reaching out to grab his hands in his, enveloping them and warming the cold skin. He can’t hold back the tears that he didn’t even know he still had after all the ones he’d spent today.
Esper stares down at him, mirroring him with a look of agony that Lusa wishes will never cross his face ever again.
“Please, please, please don’t leave,” Lusa chokes out, back bending down in tandem with the quiet wail that leaves his chapped, bitten-up lips. His forehead comes to rest against Esper’s knees, yet he keeps talking. Esper and Arme hear him clear as day, no matter the mumbles or sobs. “Please, I promise nothing will happen to you anymore, so please, rethink it— I don’t want to lose you, Esper, please…”
Esper weeps — one would think he’d also have no tears left to cry anymore, after a day full of them, but no, his tearducts are as functional as ever and provide the saltiness diligently — and he leans over Lusa, squeezing his hand with his trembling ones. Lusa squeezes back and that simple human contact warms Esper like nothing else could.
“I—” he gasps, sniffling like a whining puppy that had been kicked. His face is a mess of various fluids and he’s thankful for the bad light so the others don’t have to see him like that. “I don’t want to leave…!”
“You don’t have to, you don’t, so please,” Lusa begs, gripping onto Esper like his entire life depends on it.
Maybe it does.
Arme rubs Esper’s back in silence. He knows there’s not much more he can do than he’d already done, or say more than he already had. He’s glad Lusa didn’t have to see Esper when he’d first realized he’d been caught in the act, fighting and begging. Really a sight Arme himself wishes to erase from his memory. He’s not sure how Lusa would have reacted.
Esper shakes between the two of them, trying to stifle his sobs and hiccups. His success is debatable, but it’s not like either of them is going to start the debate.
“I’m sorry,” he says, not without his voice breaking in the middle though, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry—”
“It’s okay,” Lusa echoes back back to each of Esper’s apologies, pulling the man closer, enveloping him in a tight embrace. He doesn’t want to ever let go, ever let Esper slip from his fingers like he’d tried.
They’re pulled out of their thoughts, out of their tears, by the bus coming up to a stop by their little bench, tires screeching too-loud in the night.
Lusa stares at the vehicle and then looks back at Esper, holding him in place with a terrified look. With wide and bloodshot eyes and tear streaks running down his cheeks like rivulets of pain, Esper isn’t sure he’d ever seen Lusa look this scared before. Lusa was strong, he was the one who didn’t cry — today is the first time Esper had ever seen him shed a tear, and what a way to find out.
“Please,” Lusa chokes out, no more than a cut-off whisper that gets stuck halfway up his throat, “I won’t— I can’t make you stay if you don’t want to, but please— please don’t go.”
Esper sobs again, lips wobbling as he grits his teeth and fights not to screw his eyes shut. He almost knocks Lusa backwards with the force he throws himself at him again, clinging like a drowning man to a piece of driftwood. Lusa feels like an anchor, holding him down so he feels real again when everything feels like a bad, bad dream.
“I don’t want to leave,” he confesses again, straight into the fabric of Lusa’s already wrinkled shirt.
“Then don’t! I promise everything will be alright.”
Esper lets himself get lulled by the soft words until the bus drives closes the doors to the vehicle again and speeds off, disappearing into the distance as its tail lights fade out of view.
“Would you like to go home?” Lusa asks, peeking at Arme over the tremble of Esper’s shoulder. They share a look full of nothing but relief, though Arme knows Lusa feels much more of it than him.
Esper nods, choppy, timid. It would’ve gotten unnoticed if he didn’t have his face pressed into the crook of Lusa’s neck and Lusa couldn’t feel even miniscule movements.
“Then let’s go, let’s get some rest.”
                                                        —
“Thank you, Arme,” Lusa says, standing in the doorway. He looks so tired now, with bags under his eyes and unable to even form a real smile.
Arme shakes his head, arms folded not defensively, but pensively. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll Knight everything is fine, he must be worried sick by now.”
“I’m sorry about that.”
“Again, not your fault. Not Esper’s, either. Please go get some rest.”
Lusa nods, staring off into nothing again. “Yeah,” he says finally, when the sound of boiling water and the kettle squeaking reaches his ears. “Be careful on the way home.”
“I will. Good night, Lusa,” Arme tells him. He hesitates for a moment, though, then reaches up and softly claps Lusa’s shoulder. Then he’s heading back to his car.
The clock on the hallway wall reads 3:19 when Lusa closes the door and leans back on it to catch his breath, way past his or Arme’s bedtime on a weekday. They’re all going to be messes tomorrow.
But there’s someone who’s a mess right now who needs attention. Lusa paddles his way to the kitchen to find Esper pouring tea. He’s handed a steaming mug and Esper gives a wide smile to go along with it.
“Here. I thought it might help you sleep. It’s chamomile.”
Lusa puts the mug down onto the table. “Esper,” he says sternly, but not unkindly, “You don’t need to act like nothing happened.”
Esper’s falls off like a leaf in the autumn breeze. He holds his own mug close, fingers wrapped around the colorful ceramic. It’s Lusa’s, the one he keeps, the one that has the terrible cat pun on it.
“I’m sorry,” he says, quiet and gazing down.
“Come on, I wasn’t looking for an apology. I’m not angry at you, okay?”
“Uh-uh,” Esper nods, staring into the moving surface of his tea like it holds the secrets to the universe. He plays with the teabag absently, yanking at the damp string.
“I wanna… talk to you about it again, but not now,” Lusa says. His voice is soft, as gentle as he can make it. “For now, I bet we’re both tired.”
“Yeah.”
“Esper…” Lusa hesitates. Gathering all his courage to ask this, he goes ahead with it, but not until a few tense moments pass. “Would you consider sleeping with me tonight? In my room, I mean— I know, it sounds weird, but I’d just like to make sure you’re here, y’know?”
“Okay,” Esper nods, but Lusa frowns.
“You don’t have to say yes. If you don’t want to, nothing will happen. I won’t get angry.”
“No. No, it’s okay. More than okay— I’d… like to not be alone, actually,” Esper explains, a quiet confession like a giant secret no one was supposed to find out.
Lusa opens his arms and waits for Esper to put his tea away before he hugs him again. The lankier man reciprocates, squeezing Lusa with all his strength.
“Today was… long,” Lusa says as he pulls away, “I promise you everything will be alright. So let’s sleep on it, okay?”
Esper hums, nodding with a small, crooked smile. He can’t wait to sleep, really; is sure he’d pass out as soon as his head hit the pillow. Now that the adrenaline is gone from his system, his limbs feel like lead and head pounds with a headache from all the crying.
They take their teas and sip them slowly, savoring the sweetened taste. Esper makes the best tea, Lusa had decided. And the best food. And the best desserts.
He has the nicest laugh. He’s so funny. He gets scared by horror movies too easily. He gets that wrinkle between his brows when he concentrates too much. He’s skilled with anything he picks up almost immediately.
He’s family. Lusa can’t imagine life without him anymore, just like he can’t imagine life without Arc.
Esper drags himself more than walks up the stairs and Lusa can see just how badly this has affected him. Not that he couldn’t before, but with the storm — hopefully — behind them, it’s time to see what hasn’t gotten flooded. Esper hesitates in the doorway of Lusa’s room until Lusa motions him inside.
It’s okay, he repeats. To himself, to Esper. To the both of them.
They collapse onto the bed, teas forgotten on the bedside table. It should be weird, sharing such a small bed with two of them, but it isn’t. Lusa’s arms come to wind around Esper, to keep him close, almost unconsciously, and Esper kicks away the blanket so they’re not overheating. They’re still wearing their clothes — or, at least Esper is, Lusa had just thrown a shirt on to go along with his sleeping sweatpants. That should also be weird. Possibly uncomfortable. But Esper doesn’t even peep.
Just as he’d predicted, the sweet embrace of sleep takes him into its hold just as easily as  Lusa does, and he snuggles up to both.

Allen Rambles about Cross Tag Battle
So I already did an Under Night In-Birth Rambling a few months, and I don’t feel like retreading that game again for the sake of another half-baked Rambling like the Persona 4 Arena one. No, I’ll talk a bit more about Under Night In-Birth and it’s Light Novel elements another day when I actually have the drive to do so. Instead, I’ll  jump straight into talking about about Blazblue Cross Tag Battle, namely, expanding on my initial thoughts of it.
I had a chance to play the beta of the game when it was available, had a lot of fun playing it, and left it feeling confident this game could sell well, but a bit uneasy as well.
But first before I get to explaining that...
The DLC Issue
It wouldn’t be my Rambling unless I got out of the elephants in the room straight away, now would it?
So... that DLC, huh?
I’m not gonna’ bother defending this, but I’ll say this much in its defense. The season pass and the game is about 70 US dollars all together. That’s 50 bucks for the game 1 dollar for every extra character. That’s not a bad deal on paper. Let’s be real here, Dragon Ball FighterZ has more expensive DLC than this and much more expensive season pass combo pack, Blazblue Central Fiction had more expensive DLC than this, and several other fighting games have done worse practices. Dead of Alive has cosmetics that total up to hundred of dollars. From what I’ve seen and played Street Fighter 5 has a handful of costumes can only be purchased with cash rather than the in game fight money, among a few other practices I’m not cool with. And we can probably go on and on about EA’s DLC practices. Worse has been done, and if an extra 20 buck for 20 more characters on an already decent rooster seems bad to you, then... well I think you haven’t been playing fighting games that long to not see this coming.
However, that’s on paper. In context, this is just flat out shady and I’d even say exploitative.
I’m not going to pretend that what Arc System Works is doing is okay. Let’s be real here, a lot of the assets we’re seeing are being ripped and reused from each character’s respective game save for some new animations, the gameplay itself is very simplified, and the fact that they announced such a large amount of DLC before the game was even released is already shady business. I hate it when companies do that, and Arc System Works shouldn’t get a pass for it either.
Not to mention the fact that a portion of their EVO line up is DLC characters. That just kills me a little. I’ll admit that I have a negative opinion of the FGC and competitive fighting game community as a whole, and I’ve already talked about my opinion of EVO in the past, but I really don’t think this game deserves to be in the EVO line up when it only has a little over half its full cast in the game for competitive play, with about a fifth of that cast being DLC. That means you need to shell out at least 6 extra dollars just to have an idea of certain match ups and playstyles, or worse, play your main. That’s no where near fair on a competitive level, that’s a scam and I hope someone more familiar with the competitive side of the fighting game community calls Arc System Works out on it. If your main is locked behind a paywall then you have a right to be angry and even go as far as to boycott this game for this kind of practice.
I’m not happy with the idea of paying to just to play as Orie and Naoto, but as I’ve said, worse has been done in the gaming world. If you aren’t buying this game for the reasons I mentioned, then I respect you’re opinion. However, I’ll also ask you to at least try and get this game on sale otherwise, as there is a good fighting game here, just one that needs to shake off a bad first impression.
Ah, and speaking of the game...
This Game is Simple
Like I said, I took some time to play the Beta, and I have to say this game is a little too simple for my liking. Not that I’m some genius fighting game player that could tell you all the frame data and hitbox nonsense, but I feel like I’m grasping this game’s controls a little too fast for someone of my skill level.
Let me explain.
In the majority of fighting games I play I usually maintain a 10%-20% win rate, so I usually win 1 out of 10 matches. For a casual fighting game player that’s not bad considering I’m usually fighting competitive players, but with Cross Tag Battle I left the beta with a 50% win rate. That’s... quite a jump, but I don’t think that’s due to my skill, but how simple it is for someone that’s familiar with fighting game mechanics to understand the system. Now I’m also keeping in mind that everyone was learning the ins and outs of this game along with me during the beta, but this still.
This simplicity isn’t a bad thing. It works in the game’s favor and makes it much easier to grasp how all these characters works, which is needed for a tag-team style game, but it is something that makes me wonder how long this game will be popular. This game has two auto combos, for every character, and all the characters that aren’t from RWBY have a diluted moveset of their original game. It feels like you know everything about a character in about an hour of practice.
I had similar feelings about Dragonball FighterZ, all the character felt too similar to each other outside of some special moves. Cross Tag isn’t as simple and not all characters feel the same, but one of the big appeals of a fighting game is being about to learn a character for months and still find new techniques and strategies with them. Cross Tag Battle doesn’t feel like a game I’ll be able to do that in.
Again, that’s not a bad thing, but it’s just something that has me wondering about the direction fighting games are taking... or maybe this is just a product of team-based fighters. That simplicity might be needed for the sake of everything meshing well. I mean, if Ragna could do all his rushdown stuff and have an assist to reset combos he’d be a nightmare to fight against. And Nu... don’t get me started on Nu.
But then again, Skullgirls has a good balance of complexity, and the potential for 3-on-3 combat. All their characters feel and play in very unique ways too, so maybe my worries are founded in some ways...
But speaking of...
How Characters Play/Feel
Like I said, this game is very simple. These characters only play slightly like their original games. I've only played with a few people, namely my mains, but Yosuke doesn’t feel like the Yosuke P4A with his 48 mix-up tools, Linne and Hyde feel like themselves, but with less combo options than in their original game. Sadly, none of my Blazblue mains are in the current roster, so I can’t say much about them, but Ragna feels like a watered down version of himself at the very least. I think that goes for most of the cast. They all feel very watered down. This isn’t bad, it’s just different, and I’m not sure how I feel about that yet.
I’m excited to know I’ll have Orie and eventually Izayoi in the game to play with, but I’ve seen gameplay of Orie, and she doesn’t play the way I play her in UNIEST. I get the feeling a lot of people are going to be playing around with the cast for the wrong reasons.
That said though...
The RWBY Characters
The RWBY characters play the best too me, but that should be obvious. They were made with this game in mind from the ground up. As such their combo animations are smoother than the rest of the cast, their sprites are a little nicer, and I can really see a lot of love went into make them feel and play like how they are in the show. The references and callbacks are great as someone that’s a fan of show, and I honestly think their voice acting improved a little in this game... then again, I’ve been hearing their voices for a few years now so I might just be a bit numb to how they’re directed in their series, but I’m surprised how well they mesh with the overall cast. I can see the shipping possibilities and fanfics already. I’m definitely going to have Blake in one of my presets when the game comes out, probably pair her up with Linne or Hyde.
Speaking of voice acting...
The English Dub
Thank God we have a dub again. It’s great to hear Patrick Seitz as Ragna again, and the rest of the cast as well. The Under Night In-Birh cast sounds great too, my favorites being Linne and Gordeau. Seriously, the UNIEST cast sounds great and their voice actors really capture their character well from what I’ve heard so far. It really makes me wish we got a dub for that game so those overlong light novel portions didn’t feel as long.
I did little blurbs about voice actors when Elsword and Persona 5 voice actors were announced, and I’ll definitely do the same kind of blurb for Under Night In-Birth once all the voice actors are known. This game gives me hope that the next Guilty Gear will have a dub and then I can finally care about the story again.
But moving on...
The Roster (AKA Allen Gloats About Being Right)
So we know the full rooster of the game thanks to data miners (the buzzkills), and it looks like I can safely, confidently, and haughtily state that I was right with a few of my calls when I made my speculations. For the sake of maximum gloating I’ll give you all the breakdown from my Rambling on the matter.
Charge Characters
Mitsuru
Kagura
Vatista
Puppet Characters
Carl
Relius
Chaos
Ken
Required By Popularity
Tsubaki
Adachi
Yuzuriha
Required by Tier List
Izanami
Margret/Elizabeth
Seth/Merkava
ArcSys’s Persona OCs
Labrys
Sho
Looking back, I wish I stated Nine instead of Izanami, but Izanamis were kicking my ass by the time I wrote up my speculation and I was very salty about that. I also wish I added Mika into my curve ball list instead of my wishlist, but... well, I can’t predict everything. Speaking of that wishlist, a few people made it like Izayoi, Hakumen, and Akihiko, but that was my personal wishlist and not a speculation, so I won’t count those.
Anyway, I got 5/14 right. I’d consider that pretty good for pure speculation.
My Hopes
I’m just gonna’ list these down, as now we’re getting into my unorganized thoughts.
A simple, fanservice-y story mode. Like I originally said, this game is Arc System Works fanservice incarnate. Frankly, trying to tell a serious story with all these properties, while possible, will just be a giant mess, especially trying to deal with all the quantum mechanical, timeline jumping, dimension hopping nonsense of Blazblue, so I really hope this story will be more like Super Smash Bros. Brawl’s Subspace Emissary where the story is simple and more fanservice for fans of all these series and just see everyone interacting with some fights in between. From what we’ve seen of certain cutscenes CGs being released this just might be the case.
Free DLC. I already bought the Season Pass because I’m a degenerate, but I really hope this game does what Skullgirls did and have all their character packs free on at least the first day of their releases. I have major issues with this kind of business practice and completely understand if you guys don’t buy this game because of it. I’m hoping Arc System Works will realize this and make all the packs be free for at least their day-one release to try and dowse the flames a little. And hey, the first pack and the rest of the RWBY team is free for the first while, so I think that’s exactly what their doing.
...
...
...
I’m gonna’ feel like a chump for waste twenty buck if that’s the case, but hey, I do like the series.
A Good Single Player Experience. I know it’s a fighting game and all, but I hope it’ll have something that’ll make this game fun three years from now when the online community is dead. Something BBCP’s Abyss Mode (because CF’s is garbage) or Persona 4 Arena Ultimax’s Golden Arena Mode. Something like that. I doubt that’ll happen, but it’s a hope for a reason.
Overall, despite my mixed feelings, I hope the best for this game. And as we count down to the final days before release, I hope you all enjoy this game as much as I will.
Unless you roll out with Team UNGA. If you do, then fuck you, fuck your family, fuck your house cat, and everything you stand for.

Ain hums, chin resting on his chin, floating as always. His very presence seems to jingle (although it does literally, too, what with all his trinkets) when he turns to look at Elsword.
“Elsword, you are a child, are you not?” He asks plainly.
Elsword lifts his head up briefly from over the stove in response. “Huh? Hey, I’m a teenager now! ...I mean, I guess that’s still a kid... Whatever, what kind of question is that?”
Ain closes his eyes in thought. “You don’t act like one.”
Elsword grins, but Ain can barely see it from how he’s turned back to his pan. “Duh, I’m cooler and more mature than most kids.”
“But why is that?”
“...Huh?”
“When I first met you, you were much younger. I have now met many children that age, but they were all running around and getting dirty with each other. You did that too, but it was when you fought, instead of for no reason with other children.”
Elsword stops still, but doesn’t look up. “Well… that was cos’ I had a job to do.”
“Hmm~ Did you do that when you were even younger?” Ain swings his legs back and forth to a tune only he can hear. He hums it lightly, just enough for Elsword to pick it up. It’s a bit distracting.
“...No, I guess not. Maybe when I was real little, like, really little, but I think I’ve always just been fighting or training to.” He tries to focus on the scrape of the tools against the pan instead of his rapidly derailing train of thought.
It doesn’t work.
Was it wrong that he grew up like that? He had never thought of it like that. He had been plenty happy, so he never assumed there was anything wrong… but little kids were supposed to be… well, kids, weren’t they?
He had never gotten that. He had never gotten to just be a kid, not a knight. Neither had Elesis, huh? Both of them were… Were they broken? Was that wrong? They were happy now, right? So it was okay, right? They didn’t have to be like normal kids to be happy, right?
“Elsword, that seems too fast.” Ain says, lifting his head up (and his whole body with it) to stare at the pan, where Elswords stirring has turned frantic.
“I don’t wanna talk about it anymore,” says Elsword, and his tone says it is not up for debate. Ain goes back to idly watching him cook, and doesn’t say another word.

365 Degrees― CH. 7
“completing the circle” written by. Rielin
bgm ChungHa - Why Don’t You Know Piano | DooPiano
In front of Eve’s lecture room | 3:10 PM
“My god… is she over yet?” a petite female with violet hair mumbled under her breath as she checked the time displayed on her wrist watch. Aisha, Eve’s friend, have been waiting for minutes for Eve to finish her class. Prior to Eve’s class, they planned to go grab a lunch since Aisha’s exams were over and she wanted to give herself a treat for finishing the exams successfully. Aisha lifted her head up from her watch and glanced two males walking near her. It looked like they were waiting for the class to finish as well.
One of the male, who had blonde hair and cerulean eyes opened his lips to start up a conversation with his fellow friend, another male with crimson colored hair and eyes.
“Why aren’t you having a party this weekend?” he spoke.
“Oh… I don’t think my neighbor likes it,” his friend replied as he drifted his sentence off, gazing over to the door that will possibly open in another four minutes to release mass amounts of students.
“Wow, now you’re actually thinking about people around you, Els,” the blonde male chuckled sarcastically.
“Oops, I didn’t know. I thought no one lived there,” his friend replied.
“Does he go here?” the blonde male asked. Aisha assumed, by ‘here’, he meant this exact campus.
“Yeah, it’s a she,” the crimson haired male replied as he gazed down at his phone.
“What’s her name?” the blonde male asked with a hint of flirtiness within his tone, as he wanted to tease his friend.
“Eve. And don’t even think about it,” his friend replied, glancing up away from his phone to meet the cerulean eyes of his friend. The blonde male winced his eyebrows with confusion, as his friend was suddenly serious for some reason.
“Eve? Silver hair?” Aisha walked closer as she questioned the male with crimson hair.
“Yeah. You know her?” he replied.
“Duh! She’s my best friend,” she chuckled as she replied. “But yeah, she did complain about you partying too loud and too often,” she continued with a sarcastic tone, leaving Elsword and his friend, Chung laughing along with her.
3:15 PM
With a sigh of relief that the long lecture is finally over, Eve packed her belongings and walked out of the door. The crowd of students blocked her view, but she quickly glimpsed the violet hair and crimson hair peeking its way. Wait, crimson hair? Eve came to a halt in middle of the busy traffic as she needed to confirm her view. People were brushing and passing by against her, murmuring why did she even stop in middle of the way to their friends, yet that wasn’t important to Eve. Eve saw Aisha and Elsword laughing with one another. Surely, Aisha is the type of person that gets along with anyone; she portrays such smile to many people. However, she have never seen Elsword smiling in such warm way, it didn’t even feel like the usual Elsword she’s been hanging out with.
“...,” Eve remained silent as she quickly turned the other way and dashed out of the lecture room using the back door. The breeze outside felt so gentle yet had a hint of autumn scent carrying along the wind.
What am I doing?! Eve thought to herself as she swiftly walked over to the parking garage, where her car was parked. Even without realizing it, tears started to form within the corner of her golden eyes.
Why am I crying? After seeing them two? It’s not like they’re going out, she thought to herself, her mind clouding over the sight of Elsword and Aisha. They looked so perfect with one another, they looked as if they were meant to be. They complimented each other. They weren’t 180 degrees.
As Eve sat down on her car seat, tears started to dry out with the chilly breeze. She let out a shiver and quickly closed the car door, blocking the frosty wind.
I like Elsword, she thought as she finally realized her feelings. She wasn’t sure, she was never confident when it came to love-related issues. Surely, she had a crush once or twice before, but she quickly gave up her feelings as she always thought that she wouldn’t even end up with them, due to her being so different from them. However, Elsword made her finally realize her feelings in such a different way. She didn’t wanted to give upon him. She wanted to be with him. Even seeing her with another person made her heart ache. How would she even feel, if he actually decided to start going out with her best friend?
As Eve drove back to her apartment complex, the sight of the two laughing and talking continuously lingered within her thoughts. How would she even face them now? As she reached her apartment, she received a text message from Aisha, saying
[Where are you, Eve? The class is over but I didn’t see you]
“...,”
Sorry Aisha, Eve thought as she dashed upstairs and unlocked her front door, only to let her tired body sink into the comfy mattress.
Eve’s Place | 8:34 PM
A week have passed since Eve lastly saw Elsword in front of her lecture room. Unintentionally, she have been avoiding Elsword, as she wasn’t quite sure how to even act in front of him now that she realized her own feelings.
Maybe I’ll turn bright red again… like the first day I met him, Eve thought, reflecting back to their first meeting.
Then he would ask me, ‘Fever?’ again, she out a chuckle at her own reminiscence. Then she realized, even back then, he was somewhat worried about her.
Eve reached toward her phone that was turned off awhile ago due to low battery, and she was too lazy to even charge it. She quickly connected to a charger and turned the phone on, staring at the bright screen that welcomed her. Soon enough, the familiar picture of a flower she took months ago appeared as her wallpaper. Then after delay seconds were followed by endless vibrating. It was all notifications, from text messages to social media messages.
Within the past week, Eve have apologized to Aisha for leaving the class without alarming Aisha, who have been waiting for minutes just for Eve. Eve just concluded that there was a personal issue and offered Aisha a lunch some other day. Therefore, the messages she received from Aisha stated texts such as,
[So about that lunch]
[When are you gonna buy me lunch]
[You gon keep ignoring me you’re petty]
[LUNCH]
This girl sure is hungry…, Eve thought to herself as she let out a chuckle. It looked like Aisha texted her every hour judging from the messages she received. As Eve continued to scroll down the messages she received, she came to a halt in front of one name. It was from Elsword.
Because Eve have been avoiding Elsword for the past week, she wasn’t able to have a conversation with him whatsoever, not even through their phone. Eve even wondered, should she be the first one to text him this time? But then again, she didn’t wanted to deal with consequences, such as turning into a bright tomato in front of him. Not again. Furthermore, the unintentional avoidance might cause even more awkwardness with him.
So it was somewhat unexpected when she received a message from Elsword, stating,
[EEEVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE]
Just kidding. This was somewhat expected, she thought as she read the text. Eve read the time it was sent, and from calculating from the current time, it was around four hours ago. She scrolled down more, finding more messages sent from Elsword.
[You promised me that you’ll tutor me in Lit. Are you betraying me?]
I never promised you anything…, she thought as she let out a chuckle.
[LET’S GO EAT SOMETHING]
[STOP IGNORING ME]
[I’M GONNA GO EAT BY MYSELF HMPH]
Eve felt somewhat guilty for unintentionally avoiding him. She didn’t mean to ignore his texts since her phone was dead after all, she was willing to reply back to him. Yet it seemed like the last message she received from Elsword was around two hours ago. She wished she could’ve eaten with him, yet it was too late to even try nevertheless. Thinking about eating automatically made her salivate as if she was a Pavlov’s dog. Then her stomach growled. She realized she didn’t even eat lunch, but a light snack. She walked over to her fridge, only to find a yogurt and milk. She wondered whether if she should eat cereal or something, but there was also dinner to be worried about. She decided to go grocery shopping as she slipped into a oversized jacket.
She unlocked the front door and walked out, only to be taken by surprise that Elsword too, was unlocking his front door. Except it seemed like he spent time outdoors and was just about to walk into his apartment. Her golden eyes matched into his crimson ones, it was an unexpected meeting. She wasn’t even prepared to see Elsword right after unintentionally ignoring his texts. He seemed somewhat irritated and annoyed judging from the messages he sent.
“EVE!” he spoke, his voice excited as if he was a lost, little child who just found his mother.
Eve stared at him with widened eyes. She expected him to be angry or would simply ignore her, yet there he was, acting as if nothing happened. How could he be so kind and tender to someone who avoided him for a week? Why was he nice to her first of all? She’s just a person that lives next door; they don’t have any similarities, she’s not even entertaining enough, yet why does he want to spend his time with her? It may be easy for Elsword to befriend someone, yet it was a difficult task for Eve. She couldn’t easily trust someone as she was alway so shy about meeting someone new.
All kinds of emotion started to swirl up inside of Eve, ready to be exploded any second. She held her head down to avoid the compassionate gaze of Elsword’s that just made her feel more and more guilty.
“Eve, are you oka-” Elsword gaped his lips, breaking the silence that lingered in the air.
“Leave me alone!” Eve shouted, releasing the stirred emotions within a matter of second. She quickly widened eyes, for she was confused why she even yelled at Elsword in the first place.
Why did I yell at him? He haven’t done anything wrong. What is wrong with you, Eve?! Apologize to him right now! She furiously shouted within her mind, realizing her mistake. Her body was acting on its own, contrasting her own mind.
Another silence lingered in the air. Eve wasn’t able to lift her head up to look at Elsword in the eyes, she was too afraid to show her tears to him. It wouldn’t be surprising if Elsword just walks into his apartment and leave Eve like this. In fact, that’s what Eve would’ve done if she was in his place. Yet that wasn’t the case. She didn’t hear a door knob clicking, footsteps fading away, he was still here.
“No, Eve,” his husky voice came out firm, his sarcastical and playful voice nowhere to be found.
Eve glanced up, meeting her teary eyes with his stern ones.
“What…?” her voice came out as if it was a whisper, shaking with shock.
Then unexpectedly, Elsword lowered his face down as his shoulders started to slightly shake.
Is he… laughing? She thought as she watched the male trying to hide his smile.
Elsword glanced up, biting his lips to hide his smile, yet Eve could clearly tell he was smiling. Then he started to cover up his face with his hands, yet Eve could detect his ears that were already brightly red. It was like the day when they met, except it was Elsword who was embarrassed.
“Because I like you…,” he whispered, revealing his smiling crimson eyes hiding in between his fingers.

Herrscher
Immortal’s friends called it the Demon Realm. Demons referred to the region they have arrived at as Varnimyr, a land of darkness inhabited by the Dark Elves and demonic creatures. This Demon Realm was similar to the one Herrscher and Immortal’s friends came from. It was in the sword user’s interest to regroup with the rest of the El Search Party, or what was left of it, to acquire the Dark El. Herrscher no longer cared for the El, but it was important to Immortal.
Unlike Immortal’s friends, he wasn’t as concerned about the trivial details of concepts like timelines and dimensions. Herrscher went wherever Immortal went. Humans, elves, and demons were not aware that timelines and dimensions overlapped with each other. How could they be when most were more concerned about themselves?
“Why do we bother waiting for them?” Paradox was referring to their counterparts. In his child form, the time traveler groaned. “We can’t stay longer than we should.”
“When did you start to care about that? You made it very difficult to find you.” Offering his hand to Herrscher, the redhead felt how cold and lifeless the other being’s hands were, “Are you okay, Ain? I didn’t come too late, did I?”
Herrscher shook his head. Fighting Richter would not be an inconvenience, he wanted to tell Immortal. He would have been able to deflect his alternate’s attacks but accepted his friend’s concern.
Lying on the floor with his face half turned, Herrscher took Immortal’s hand without hesitation, noting how warm they were in contrast to his. He too used to possess the same warmth humans had. Without attachments to the Goddess, he was beyond redemption, yet Immortal allowed him to stay by the swordsman’s side.
“You weren’t supposed to find me,” Paradox sneered.
If looks could kill, Immortal would have been six feet under from the glares Paradox was sending to the multiweapon user. Herrscher couldn't understand why Immortal placed trust in him (“A bad decision, really.” Paradox quipped. Herrscher agreed.). Appearing when opportunities of scourging the El arose, Paradox’s appearances were sporadic with no apparent objective in mind. His unorthodox fighting style made him a formidable ally, but only when their objectives happened to align.
Rubbing the back of his neck, Herrscher let a breeze cool down his core from its excessive use. Dimension traveling was more of Metamorphy’s area of practice than his, which was manipulating and traveling in between the void of the abyss. Not that Immortal understood that no matter how many times he explained it.
“Finding you was such a hassle,” Immortal complained. “Do you know how many dimensions it took to get here? Did you know there’s a dimension where people pay millions of ED to watch girls like Aisha sing?”
“Why should I care?” Paradox deadpanned.
“There was a dimension where we were all maids,” Immortal ignored the snide question. He grabbed Paradox by the shoulders and dropped his voice into a stage whisper, “You wore pigtails and said some very rude things to me.”
With little clues to where Paradox could have gone, it took Herrscher and Immortal several attempts to guess the correct coordinates. Herrscher was omniscient to what happened in the void, but not what happened to inhabitants in other dimensions. Immortal proclaimed he had a hunch for the fifth time before Metamorphy unceremoniously took over the team despite the younger man’s protesting. It appeared that Metamorphy did not place as much trust in their leader as Herrscher did, but he had to acknowledge that their method was not efficient in finding Paradox.
“Where are the other losers?” Paradox searched for the fourth member of their team.
“You mean our friends?” Immortal snickered when he caught the time traveler scowling. “Come on, did you think I would be that irresponsible to bring a bunch of people with me?”
“Why would that be a problem?” Furious Blade examined Paradox’s child form. He didn’t explicitly voice his thoughts, but his emotions were clear from the confusion in his knitted brows to the existence of the time traveler. “Tell me what happens if there are too many of us.”
“Having all of you here is making everything unstable,” Paradox said with a bored expression. “When there are too many of you, it overwhelms the dimension until it’s forced to reset itself by destroying everything inside it.”
“Which is funny because that means some of you will stop having noses and turn flat like a pancake,” Immortal laughed. “Then the sky turns upside down and you’re breathing underwater.”
“Not funny,” Paradox growled, displeased by Immortal’s side comment. “If I have to clean up another mess you made one more time, I’m leaving you here.”
“That’s cruel,” Immortal chuckled. “Anyway, it’s impossible to get everyone here.” He stopped smiling and leaned his head back. His eyes turned glassy and his voice became quieter, “I haven’t seen Elesis in weeks and I’m not sure where Lu and Ciel went.”
Herrscher exchanged a dark look to Paradox, who averted his gaze and feigned a yawn of disinterest. The time traveler’s face relaxed, but the rest of his body was tense and his shoulders rose to the mentions of Bloody Queen. Restless and unable to remain idle in the wake of the El’s instability, she disappeared one night with a cryptic note that spoke little of her whereabouts. Immortal shrugged it off as his sister leaving with good intentions, but Herrscher had come to understand that he was doing what humans called a facade. Their leader was pretending that he wasn’t bothered by his sister having gone missing.
Iblis and Anular’s presence was as erratic as Paradox, coming and going whenever Immortal and his friends were fighting bigger monsters and demons. Anular was nothing more than a shadow of his former self, silently following his master without raising his voice. He was what Herrscher was if he still had devotion for his creator. There was nothing but the void to answer his calls.
“Why did you look for me?” Paradox asked.
“Can’t a guy call his friend when he misses him?” Immortal feigned a hurt expression.
His eyes grew bigger in what he called ‘puppy eyes’. Herrscher didn’t see the resemblance because Immortal wasn’t a canine with ears and a tail. However, it was a human expression used when the late Sieghart wanted something from the person he was talking to.
“Spare me the excuses.” Paradox rolled his eyes.
“Fine, you’re no fun.” Immortal dropped the farce and snorted, “We tried to get back into the Demon Realm, but got lost because we don’t have the right coordinates. So we went to look for you since that’s your thing.”
“And if I say no?”
“Then we’ll be stuck here to annoy you until you help us,” Immortal said with a lazy grin.
Light flashed around Paradox. His limbs elongated into thin lanky appendages and his hair reached to his ankles. As an adult, he was almost a head taller than Immortal. He looked down at the redhead and crossed his arms as the two of them engaged in a staring contest.
“Tada~ Raven and I are finally here!” A small shadow appeared with one hand on their hip and flashing a victory pose. “Sorry to keep you waiting ♥.”
“There were more demons than we anticipated,” Nova Imperator apologized. Dressed in black and red, the former leader of the Black Crows carried a heavy blade over his shoulder with a Nasod arm. Towering over Metamorphy, he made quiet footsteps and always placed care in his words.
“I knew they didn’t come without you,” Paradox continued leering at their leader.
“Hey, don’t ignore a girl when she talks to you!” Metamorphy growled. Walking between the two men, she had to tilt her head back to glower at Paradox. She jabbed a glove finger into his chest where the glowing core was. “Do you know how long it took us to figure out which dimension you were in?”
“Yes, yes, Elbrat told me.” Paradox rolled his eyes again. “And I suppose you’re going to say I messed up this dimension too.”
“Yes, you did!” She waved her arm in reference to the corrupted sky, “Look at it, it’s tearing itself apart!”
Ms. Magical Girl was correct with the sky breaking up like the static of primitive human devices Immortal once found under wreckage in Altera. Deep shades of red and violet cracked beneath the sea of blue, giving a crackled effect from the shards created by Paradox portals. Herrscher had visited many dimensions, but seeing structures of the current one become undone reminded him of Henir.
“That’s flattering, but not everything is my fault.” Paradox cackled, “I’m not the one bringing over extra people to break the dimension further.”
“So it’s my fault because he wouldn’t stop asking me where you went?” Metamorphy gestured to Immortal. “He kept saying ‘Add would help!’ and now you’re acting smart with me?”
“I’m already smart,” the man smirked.
Metamorphy screamed.
“Aisha, no!” Immortal fought to pull the staff away from Metamorphy. “You can’t hit our ride home!”
The magical girl held her staff high with both hands like a baseball bat, tilting it to one side and aiming for Paradox. She lost her balance and fell headfirst into the ground when Immortal wrestled to stop her.
“It’s always ‘Aisha, take us to Elrios’, ‘Aisha, we need to get to the Demon Realm’. We looked for this guy because you asked nicely,” Metamorphy sat up and dusted herself. “I’m the only one who can do that because this brat only shows up when he feels like it. Ain only does it when Elsword tells him to.”
“That’s why I need you to stop fighting long enough so we can get home.” Immortal let out an exasperated sigh, “I don’t need us to break another dimension.”
“Another?” Blade repeated.
“It must be confusing and overwhelming to see all of us,” Nova slapped his hand over Paradox’s shoulder. “Hope our lost cat didn’t give you trouble. How many of you are there?”
Paradox scowled; he shoved Nova’s hand aside and hissed in being compared to a small animal. Even in his adult form, he appeared shorter than his actual height with his head lowered and having a crouched back. His tails twitched and coiled against his thigh like an angry feline.
Unoffended by the time traveler’s rejection, Nova exchanged a sheepish smile to Blade’s wary one.
“Twenty-four. He kidnapped one of our friends,” Blade said without tact.
Herrscher heard footsteps from behind them. There were many of them. It sounded like there were at least half a dozen of them. A deep frown indented into Herrscher’s features, unable to recognize the sound of the strangers’ footsteps. They belonged to people he had not met before. They must be the people Daybreaker coaxed Richter into alerting about their presence.
“They’re here,” Herrscher said.
A man stormed into their circle with a wild look in his eyes, his face identical to Paradox’s. Having a set of Nasods circling around the scientist, Dominator walked around half-dressed with bed hair and his jacket sliding down one shoulder. The sleep-deprived scientist ignored Herrscher’s presence but gawked at Paradox, recognizing his own face in a mix of awe and disgust.
“There’s five of them now?” Dominator stopped to catch his breath.
“You’re already out of breath? You don’t look like you’re used to doing more than lifting a pen.” Empire observed Immortal’s friends bickering, “They all look and act so different.”
“We arrived as soon as we heard from Richter about new people coming,” Crusader was behind Dominator. “Has there been any conflict?”
“No,” Blade shook his head. “It looks like they’re here to take back Paradox. They came here with the help of their Aisha and Ain. Those two seem to have control over dimension and space.”
Eyes turned to Herrscher, who was standing as still as the dead trees the Dark Elves used to make their bows at the edge of Varnimyr. Not as talkative as his teammates, Herrscher was one to let others discuss what was needed to fulfill their needs. There was little to be added to the conversation when they could continue talking without him.
“You’re Ain?” Empire stared.
“Yes,” Herrscher said. “Is there something you want to address with me?”
“N-no,” she waved both hands and shook her head.
Queen’s alternate momentarily lost her composure and gawked at the celestial. Herrscher didn’t mind the stares, but the captain of the Velder Knights did. Forcing her eyes away, Empire turned her head and faked a cough. Her face tinged pink from the blood rushing up to her cheeks as she mumbled an apology for her rudeness. Herrscher never would have seen such a display of emotions from Immortal’s sister.
“Their team has three people with dimensional powers?” Dominator frowned.
“Other members of the party are on their way,” Ultimate reported. The Nasod queen of destruction gazed at Paradox’s adult form, analyzing the time traveler’s machines and processing the data from the rest of the third El Search Party. “Rena said it was urgent.”
“She makes it sound scarier than it actually is,” Crusader chuckled. “It’s like a giant union party. I didn’t think more people would show up.”
“Let’s hope there aren’t more,” Dominator had a dark expression. “According to Dynamo, we’re pushing this dimension at its limits.”
“Who’s fault was that?” Blade deadpanned.
“Are you placing the blame on me?” Dominator feigned a surprised gasp.
“Yes,” Ultimate and Blade said.
Worn down with heavy eyelids, the former mercenary rested his human arm over the base of his blade. He, the elf, and Ishmael’s idol were on watch and patrol when Herrscher found them by Immortal’s orders. Their whispers reached into the depths of the woods where Herrscher overheard their conversation. Relaxed and without concern for the dangerous world around them, Daybreaker and Richter’s conversion reminded Herrscher of a more innocent time. When Herrscher first met Twilight and was curious about her upbringing in an elven village, before he lost sight of the Goddess and could no longer hear her.
“Then who was the one who kidnapped Elbrat and made us go on this mad chase?” Dominator huffed.
“We can blame each other all day, but that’s beside the point.” Empire said, “Look, I know our actions have made us look bad.”
“Taking Elsword hostage increased our stay and the likelihood of the dimension becoming unstable,” Ultimate stated.
“Taking hostage?” Crusader laughed nervously, “Those are strong words, Ultimate.”
“I know,” she said.
“Yes, that.” Empire agreed, “but we cornered Paradox. My brother said he could control time and space. Can’t he return everyone back to their dimensions and reset everything? That should reverse the damage, right?”
“Can you do that?” Metamorphy looked at Paradox.
“If that was the case, then I wouldn’t be here,”the time traveler said.
There were two instances Paradox left an impression on Herrscher. When they first met, Paradox was known as Diabolic Esper and caused a wreckage in Hamel to rescue their leader. The second time was when Paradox returned from the Forgotten Elrian Sanctum, laughing and crying about how he couldn’t save Her. Despite having powers beyond human technology, Paradox rarely smiled.
“That brings us back to the drawing board,” Crusader groaned.
“I should have known at least one version of myself would actually attempt time travel after talking to the meathead.” Dominator paused, “Wait. Why are you smiling at me?”
“Did you enjoy my present?” Teeth exposed, Paradox bared a wide grin. “It was sad seeing you try so hard to jump dimensions.”
Dominator fumed.
“You made us enter the wrong dimension?” Blade asked.
“He made those coordinates, not me.” Paradox shrugged, “I just gave the device a power boost.”
“What were you doing in their dimension?” Nova asked.
Paradox giggled for an answer.
“If we don’t act quickly, things will get worse.” Empire looked to Metamorphy for answers, “Isn’t there something we can do? We told the El Masters we would retrieve the Dark El, but we also promised to protect the people that live here.”
“Protecting demons? How chivalrous and unlike you,” Metamorphy said with a coy smile. “There’s one person who might be able to fix your problem. Perhaps we can ask for his help, right, Add?”
Paradox hissed.
“Who is it?” Immortal asked.
“Why are you acting like you don’t know?” Metamorphy shook him by the shoulders, “You’re pretending to be funny, right?”
“Actually…” Immortal scratched the base of his neck with a sheepish laugh.
“Dimension has reached its capacity,” Ultimate interrupted the two. “We have fifty-nine minutes and fifty-nine seconds to evacuate and resolve the issue before this dimension disintegrates.”
“This can’t be good,” Nova sighed.
----------------------------
Nova Imperator
Crimson bled into the deeper indigos, casting away the night and molten light peering past the dusted clouds. Wind picked up loose strands of Nova’s hastily done ponytail. Portals cracked split the skies into smaller fragments, crystals forming around the edges like the ones created by Paradox. Fireballs escaped from portals and crashed at their feet, sending seismic waves through the ground. An unsettling feeling rose from the pit of his stomach as the former mercenary shielded his eyes.
Empire drew her blade and stabbed it into the ground for stability. The captain knight held her ground with gritted teeth. She kneeled down and clamped her eyes shut from the brightness of
the fireballs. Crusader mouthed unheard words over the chaos, reaching out to check on his teammate.
Smoke and fire lingered in the air when the shaking stopped. The fireballs ceased but Nova knew that wasn’t the end of it. The earthquake opened to be brimming with agate and crystals from the Shadow Vein nearby. It wouldn’t be long before demons show up in the wake of the dimension’s demise.
“We need to evacuate everyone,” Nova shouted to his teammates over the chaos.
“There’s twenty-four of them and five of us,” Metamorphy did a quick headcount. “Three of us can take them to a safe place where time and space won’t be affected by all of us existing. This means…”
“Ten people for each of us,” Paradox said. “One of us will only have nine people including ourselves. You two already have the coordinates. I won’t waste time explaining something you two already know.”
For once, Herrscher and Metamorphy didn’t stop to argue the time traveler. Paradox wasn’t an easy person to work with, but was the most familiar with traveling between dimensions. Delaying their evacuation could spell the end for all of them.
“We’re going as smaller groups to find your friends,” Metamorphy explained to the strangers. “Once everyone in our groups are here, we’ll be taking you to a safe place. Why don’t you and Eve come with me?”
His concern mirrored Nova’s. A man who rarely raised his voice, Blade was more comfortable letting others talk while he processed their words. He wore a permanent frown and wasn’t quick to trust, putting thought before he spoke and asking questions before making final decisions.
Ultimate assessed the offer. Examining the new El Search Party with mild interest, Nova caught a faint smile at the edge of her lips. The simple gesture was a reminder that she was sentient and alive, a contrast from the Eve that went by the name Code: Sariel.
“I will join,” Ultimate said after an uncomfortable moment of silence. It was Moby who beeped, bouncing up and down midair in agreement to the Nasod Queen’s decision. “Do you want me to notify the two El Search Parties about the new arrangement?”
“That would be great!” Immortal beamed, “Add will tell you where to meet up and how to split the groups.”
“Don’t tell me what to do,” Paradox scowled, but pulled out a set of screens to type in the locations and details to send over to Ultimate. “Will this be enough?”
Ultimate didn’t answer immediately. A small ping caused her eyes to briefly light up as the Nasod queen scanned Paradox’s message. With a small nod, her lips quivered as she drafted a message to send to the two El Search parties. Remy beeped once as Ultimate promptly dispatched the memo.
“Thank you, Add.” Ultimate closed her eyes. “We will be meeting them in our respected groups.”
“Hey, you.” Paradox waved his arm over to Dominator. “Edgy brat and the mouse will be with us.”
“I’m edgy?” Immortal looked pleased at what was meant to be an insult.
“Why am I a mouse?” Crusader asked.
“I have a name!” Dominator exclaimed.
Nova had trust that Paradox would stop the group of four from sidetracking. The time traveler was more goal-oriented than Immortal, who sometimes liked to stop and smell the roses. Eye shadows formed under his eyes, likely from lack of sleep and from the amount of energy required in dimensional traveling. The excessive portals in the sky reminded Nova of the man’s antics. He was happy to see Paradox being cooperative with their plan of escape, although the time traveler often took their orders as mere suggestions.
“Is there something you wanted to say to me?” Paradox looked at Nova with suspicion. “Did the brat bring you here to convince me to stay with you losers?”
“Something like that,” Nova laughed. “Good to see we caught up to you before you left. Ain and I were starting to think we wouldn’t find you.”
“I doubt that,” Paradox said. “Am I really worth that effort?”
“Worth it or not, I’m happy to see you will be helping us in evacuating the people we have involved ourselves with.” Nova remarked.
“Yeah, I’m a wonderful person.” Paradox rolled his eyes. “That leaves you with the rest.”
“I’m fine having Ain and Elesis join me,” Nova looked to Herrscher and Empire. “Do you mind?”
Herrscher shook his head.
“We just met, but I will trust you because my teammates do.” Empire agreed.
Before they left, Nova and Immortal made sure they all had the details sent to them by Ultimate based on Paradox’s coordinates. There wasn’t much time before the worse was to come. With little else left to say, Nova made eye contact with the remaining members of the opposing party before parting ways. He had to hope that all of them would act fast enough to avoid premature death. It won’t be long before demons are triggered by the increase of energy coming from the portals.
They headed to the eastern side of the main camp. The sun was starting to sink lower into the horizon when they made their way over with time to spare. Herrscher moved silently beside Nova with no word coming from the abyssal being, a single eye glued to the ground. Empire was more apprehensive, dashing forward with an alert eye over her shoulder with one hand ready to pull out her claymore.
“We’re about five minutes away from our destination,” Nova announced. He slowed himself into a light jog to check the map again. This part of the Demon Realm was similar to the one he and his friends had visited in the past, albeit the falling sky and crumbling dimension.
“Did Paradox make your communicators too?” Empire asked. She showed interest in the devices he and Herrscher possessed.
Designed as an earpiece, each was individually designed to fit comfortably into their owners’ ears. Each device was pristine white with its edges bordered in thin lines of black and pink. Light glowed from its centered blue core marked by a gold trim. With the newest updates, it was able to pick up signals as long as each member was within a short radius.
“No,” Nova said. “Eve did.”
The ground shook. A group of Shadow Drillers emerged from the caverns of the Shadow Vein, scurrying out on their fours and shrieking. Dozens trampled over each other as they struggled to run away from the chaos of the shaking earth. One stepped over another’s tail and snarled. Their cries enraged the rest of the group. One of them made eye contact with Nova and charged.
“Not good,” Nova crossed his blade with a Shadow Driller skull bashing into the base.
“They think we’re the cause of this?” Empire whipped out her claymore. “They’re agitated!”
“Not my concern,” Herrscher said. Pulling his scythe from behind, he produced a white sharpened edge. Dark clouds formed as he suctioned the demons inward to immobilize the frenzied crowd. Black blood squirted out from where Herrscher marked them.
Nova wrestled for control of his blade from a trio of the shadow monsters lunging after his weapon. Flames burst from his Nasod arm to ward off the rest of the Shadow Drillers. Dashing inward, he coated his blade with fire. The demons cried from the intense heat and lashed back.
Red sparks flew from Empire’s blade. She threw herself to the side from a demon curling itself into a ball and rolling out to the red knight.  It fired hardened spikes out from the sharp stubs on its body. Empire hissed in pain and let out a warrior cry. Her blade lit up red and gold as she spun around. Demon bodies were tossed into the air and Empire struck through their bodies before they could hit the floor.
Sweat collected at his forehead and energy concentrated from the core of his Nasod arm. Sparks flared from his fingertips. Heat rose and fanned the back of his hair. Flames ignited and burned the demons down, rising higher. Another source of fire exploded from the sides. That wasn’t his flame. A fire demon?
“Sword Fire!” A red-haired man stepped into the flames. He pulled out a great blade and swiped at the masses.
Red runes with the fire insignia became visible in the air. Nova and the demons looked up at the curiosity. The runes glowed a brilliant light before imploding onto their targets, setting the shadow monsters into ablaze. The demons scattered in the surprise ambush, bumping into one another in their attempt to escape.
“Supreme Punishment!” Two figures appeared together.
The enemy was cornered by larger demons summoned by blue flames. The Shadow Drillers and the Shadow Guards whimpered when they were tossed aside. Their eyes glowered at being outnumbered and sank back into the shadows.
“How anticlimactic,” Timoria yawned and pointed to the brawler on her right. “It’s his fault we showed up late. You were the last to wake up.”
“How is it my fault?” Bringer twitched, “You took forever to pack when the elf woke you up first!”
“Lu, it’s too early to argue over something so trivial.” Abysser sighed, “Can’t you take this argument later when we’re evacuated?”
“Sorry to keep you guys waiting!” Rune grinned, “Hope we weren’t being an inconvenience!”
“Is everyone all right?” Daybreaker rushed over to inspect the burns on Nova’s arm. “You should get that checked! You’re losing blood!”
“I’ll heal him,” Bluhen said with an easy smile.
“The dimension will collapse soon,” Herrscher started.
“We are not leaving,” Daybreaker snapped.
Her pale face illuminated under the moon to show the shadow under her eyes. She glared at Herrscher as if challenging the abyssal being to ignore her. Herrscher had a cool expression and lowered his scythe. Nova mouthed a thanks for Herrscher to see. This Rena wasn’t Twilight, but her words still had bite if tempered enough.
In contrast to Herrscher, Bluhen was if someone took the abyssal dweller’s color scheme and saturated it by several shades. Bluhen’s face was framed by bright green eyes and gray feathered hair. Carrying a mischievous smile, there was no weight in his steps as he blasted away the remaining demons before hopping over to Empire with his hands behind his back.
Taking the former mercenary’s injured arm, Bluhen produced a water bottle to clean his wound. Angry red flashed across Nova’s skin. The familiar pain hissed through his pores as Bluhen applied pressure into his wound. Dense light sang through his skin and Nova felt a jolt of energy travel through his body. When he opened his eyes, the wound had closed and appeared to be a few days old. Bluhen didn’t break a sweat. Impressed by the healing magic, Nova commended the priest and thanked him with a curt nod.
“You’re lucky there’s a healer,” Bringer said.
Nova looked up from where he sat to see a set of narrowed eyes. The brawler crossed his arms with a haughty look on his face. This was Add? Lacking the black sclera, Bringer made himself appear bigger by standing with a straight back and had more color in his complexion than Paradox.
“You don’t need to make everything sound like a vague threat,” Empire facepalmed.
“No, he’s right.” Bluhen agreed. “They would have lost the fight because they were outnumbered and outpowered.”
Bringer gawked at the priest, surprised by Bluhen’s response but said nothing. He blinked a lot and coughed to cover his embarrassment. Placing a hand over his mouth, Nova could see Bluhen fighting back a smile.
“Of course, I’m right.” Bringer boasted.
“It’s good to see you had no trouble finding us,” Nova said. He hid his bemusement in the silent exchange between the two. “We’ll be leaving once my friend completes the preparations.”
Bluhen lifted Nova’s arm up, applying pressure again to the previously injured joints to check for broken bones he may have missed. Pleased with the results, he offered Nova an elixir often used for soldiers suffering heavy blood loss. Judging by the panicked look in Empire’s face and Daybreaker’s reaction, his injuries must have been concerning for the group to halt everything. Nova accepted the elixir, popped open the flask, and chugged it in one gulp. He focused on the bitter taste from the berries used to make it.
“He drank it all?” Rune’s jaw dropped.
Herrscher floated over to Nova, ignoring the stares from the strangers as he pulled out his scythe. People stepped back, raising their weapons before Nova shook his head and waved his Nasod arm.
“He’s going to open a rift for us,” Nova explained. “I’ll stay at the end to make sure everyone makes it to the other side. There isn’t much time before it closes, so we’ll have to be quick.”
Bluhen’s eyes fell over to Herrscher with interest. The priest had his hands clasped together as he carefully studied the celestial. It was a shame their stay was temporary. None of the differences will matter at the end of the day unless Metamorphy was willing to do more interdimensional traveling.
“Richtie told me about you,” Bluhen said without looking up. He saw Herrscher’s confusion and explained, “The one who tried to kill you.”
“Celestials don’t die,” Herrscher said. “I’m not as human as you.”
“Then why do you help them?” Bluhen asked.
“Elsword told me to.”
“I see.” Bluhen’s pleasant smile wavered, visibly disturbed by Herrscher’s indifference. More questions threatened to roll off his tongue, but instead turned to Nova, “Everything is healed. Don’t strain that arm for at least a few days.”
“Thank you,” Daybreaker said. “Will this world be destroyed?”
“I don’t know,” Nova admitted. “But we’ll do everything we can to make sure everyone makes it out of this.”
Tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear, Daybreaker crossed her legs and ran a finger over her bow. The resemblance between her and Twilight was strong in the way she looked past Nova’s relaxed smile.
Swinging his scythe to the side, Herrscher dragged the sharp blade from across. Green light shone as he ripped into the hems of space to cut open a thin line. Pulling back, Herrscher forced a portal open to reveal a dark void looming back at the abyssal being. The opening was big enough for a person to walk through.
“The portal won’t remain open for long. ” Herrscher said. “Elsword, you should go first.”
“Go ahead,” Empire nodded to Rune. “We’ll be right behind you.”
Everyone gathered and filed into a line with Rune at the front. Winking to his teammates, Rune turned around to walk through the portal. In a flash, the redhead had disappeared before being followed by his sister and the rest behind them. Nova was left with Herrscher maintaining the portal. The celestial remained still.
“Do you think there really is a way to undo this mess?” Nova surveyed the damage caused by Paradox.
Herrscher replied, “That is not my concern.”
“I would be surprised if it was,” Nova chuckled. “We should join them before they worry about us.”
Herrscher nodded.
Walking past the lines that blurred between different dimensions, Nova’s vision went black. His surroundings vanished as he was joined by Herrscher beside him. They had to hope that their teammates were as lucky as them in escorting the other El Search Parties. It wouldn’t be long before they learned if their plan was a success.
----------------------------
Mad Paradox
Being the generous person he was, Paradox agreed to go with the edgy brat’s plan. What else was there to do with a dimension threatening to burst open from the insides? Not that it was his intention. If he wanted to wreck a dimension, there were more efficient (and better) ways to do it.
There was no benefit out of destroying the current one where Knight and his… friends resided in because they probably wouldn’t even notice until it was too late. What was the fun in that? Watching Knight squirm from demons was enough entertainment for the time traveler, but alas, that came to an early end. He wasn’t going to pit himself against a mob of adventurers over one boy.
A loud crack snapped from behind Paradox. Gravity pulled him in and the man fell through the portal he had created, landing neatly on his twos and balancing on Dynamo to support his weight. The screams of full-grown men followed coming from Immortal, Crusader, and Dominator crashing at his feet.
“Your cannon is on my foot!” Immortal shouted.
“I’m sorry!” Crusader pulled the oversized weapon away from the researcher.
“Both of you are too heavy!” Dominator complained.
How could those three make so much noise when they were the only ones here? Paradox hopped off Dynamo to watch the three idiots fumble around. Crushed by Crusader and Immortal, Dominator came out at the bottom of the pile. He waved one arm to grab onto Crusader’s cannon and glare at the blond. The guardian of Hamel scratched the back of his neck with a feeble smile.
Immortal sat on top of the two with one leg over the other. He screamed when Dominator sat up and had Dynamo nudge the sword user away. Waving his arms around, Immortal hopped around before falling over Crusader. Both men howled in pain because one jabbed an armored elbow into the other’s stomach.
“If you’re done, would you like to stand up so I don’t look like a fool when the other brats are here?” Paradox drawled.
“Why couldn’t you just portal us then go back to rescue the others?” Crusader asked. Pulling one knee up, he got up on his feet with his Destroyer over one shoulder.
“I’m not doing more work than I need to,” Paradox scoffed.
A set of eyes landed on Paradox. Their gaze fixed onto the back of his head as he gingerly flicked a piece of dirt off his plugsuit. He knew whose eyes they were. Who else would it be? Paradox had lost track of the number of times this similar scenario had occurred, too many times for it to bother him. He was reluctant to admit that he missed the novelty of discovering alternate dimensions when the other El Search Parties marveled over their counterparts.
Grumbling to himself about being dogpiled by heavy people, Dominator was busy patting the dust off his clothes. He Dynamo was a set of magenta-colored cubes, blinking light as they floated beside the scientist. Looking at Dominator was blinding. Dressed in a white suit with lilac and gold accents, his appearance and behavior was exactly how Paradox remembered. How could someone wear so much white?
“Can I help you?” Paradox tried not to laugh when their eyes met.
The time traveler recognized the stare he was receiving from Dominator. It was the analytical gaze, fighting to make use of every bit of knowledge the researcher had about Nasods and time travel to understand Paradox’s existence. He knew a part of his shoulder chipped every few minutes or so. Not even the heaviest jacket could hide that because it also disappeared with the rest of his body if he wasn’t paying attention.
“Does it exhaust your energy to maintain two forms?” Dominator asked.
Of course Dominator would want to know. Paradox wasn’t fazed by the intrusive question, tucking his limbs inward and gloved hands over his knees while sitting on Dynamo. Crusader and Immortal exchanged questioning looks to each other, debating to themselves whether or not to join. The guardian of Hamel chose to sit on the ground while Immortal leaned back against one of his swords planted in the rough terrain. Dominator remained standing, ignoring Dynamo nudging the scientist to sit down.
“No,” Paradox laughed. This Dominator was faster about asking personal questions than the last one. “I simply choose to be one form more than the other.”
It was easier to conserve energy by investing in one form than the other. He often opted for the child form for its utility but preferred his adult form when given the chance.
“And this is all done with Nasods?” Dominator asked.
“This is beyond technology and science,” Paradox said. “Having second thoughts about time traveling, Domi?”
“Domi?” Crusader covered his mouth mid-yawn.
“No,” Dominator stiffened. Good, then Dominator must have done the calculations to realize that genuine time traveling to their past wasn’t possible. The scientist crossed his arms and looked over to Dynamo in deep thought. “That’s not my current goal.”
At least one of them was the sensible one with realistic goals.
“Why would you waste your time dealing with us?” Dominator asked.
“Would you prefer to stay and become an inverted donut?” Paradox drawled. “It’ll be over before you can even think about it, but fun to watch.”
“A donut?” Crusader squeaked.
“An inverted one,” Immortal said unhelpfully.
Paradox grinned.
Making the El Search Party squirm never became old, unless it was the transformation path. Then it became a hassle because none of them took Paradox seriously or laughed with him. He fought the urge to roll his eyes about his teammates, or whatever they were. Teammates was a loose interpretation of his relationship with the people he sometimes chose to involve himself with when wandering through time and space was getting dull.
Dominator was less affected by Paradox’s threat and rubbed his chin, likely musing over his words and rendering its meaning. The scientist was never one to take words at the surface level. None of the Adds did, but Dominator liked to tread over his thoughts and actions before settling on one.
“You’ve gone through many timelines to be familiar with what happens when you mess with time and space,” Dominator stated.
Perceptive as always, Paradox rested his head back. He couldn’t expect less from his counterpart’s intuitive eye.
“Then it shouldn’t be a surprise that you’re not the first Dominator I’ve met.” Paradox winked, “Did you say hi to Doom Doom for me?”
A small noise of discontent came from Dominator. ‘Cat’ came to mind when Dominator tucked his arms over his lap and mumbled something about a meathead. Dominator waved away Dynamo bouncing against the side of the scientist’s head.
“How did you know about that nickname?” Crusader asked.
“As I said, this is not the first time I’ve met you.” Paradox said.
Observant, but still reactive to the unknown. It was too easy to spook his alternate, Paradox giggled. He knew it was easy to scare Crusader too if he was in the mood to test how jittery the guardian of Hamel was. Better not push them to the edge so early when the rest of the party hasn’t arrived yet. They were waiting for six more before departing to the next world.
“How did you learn to control portals?” Crusader asked.
Paradox continued smiling, showing his sharp teeth for an answer. The question in itself didn’t bother him, but the number of times and how it was a different person from each dimension asking the question did. He lost track of how many times a person asked the big old question as if he was obligated to retell them his sob story. It reopened old wounds to form new ones on his visible failures to save Mother. They didn’t need to know about her or why he was partially stuck with the form of a child.
Immortal forced a laugh. The sword wielder raised one arm and smacked Crusader’s back with enough force to make the blond straighten his posture.
“No need to fuss about the details,” the sword wielder beamed. “You can forget about us once this is sorted out!”
“How can we forget about you and the other people we’ve met?” Crusader said, “Everyone is so different from their other selves, but it helps cover all our weaknesses in the things we usually can’t do. I know it’s best that we all return to where we came from, but I think it would help if we were to learn from each other before we leave.”
“That’s for the man to decide,” Immortal shrugged. “As you may know, we’re not meant to be together without threatening our worlds.”
“Are you talking about Paradox?” Crusader was confused.
His question was thankfully interrupted by the sound of a woman screaming. Good, no more questions from the brats! Crusader was almost as bad as Dominator about asking questions and Immortal was no help warding them off his back. Continuing to lean back in a pose he claimed was ‘cool’ and feigning an innocent smile made it clear that Immortal was enjoying seeing the time traveler gain the spotlight.
Immortal and Crusader rushed over to see a young woman at the bottom of a steep hill. She was lying on the floor with her legs comically sticking up in the air. Her white gown hung her body like tissue paper and her face was bruised by her poor landing.
“Are you okay?” Flame frantically went over to check on Apsara. There were five other strangers with the Flame Lord with different reactions to their fallen teammate.
“I warned her about the hill and she still fell,” Oz sighed.
“Is this the feeling humans call disappointed?” Esencia asked.
“That’s a strong word to use,” Crusader sweatdropped.
“Can you feel your fingers?” Anemos asked.
“I can feel them fine!” Apsara sat up and pouted. Her eyes lightened up when she saw Crusader, “Chung! Are these the people who will be helping us?”
“You mean Paradox and Immortal?” Crusader asked. “I think so. We can leave once everyone is here, right?”
This wasn’t a party of adventurers, it was a mob. There were still a lot of people even after splitting them into three groups. It wasn’t there was a fourth person who could consistently transport multiple people to another dimension.
“Thank you for helping us,” Rage said. He was a masculine man, whose armor barely covered his body and was recognized by the grotesque Nasod arm. The arm was a living organism that breathed in unison with its host.
“Sure,” Paradox said. His muscles tensed in response to the El Search Party’s gratitude and reliance on him.
“What took you so long?” Dominator asked.
“We got lost,” Oz said. “Even with Escencia, it isn’t an easy map to read when the landmass is shifting.”
“That’s because of all you extras,” Paradox snarked.
“Which will be fixed soon,” Immortal added while glaring at him.
“How can you say that with so much confidence?” Anemos asked. “Will this plan restore what has been lost?”
“There’s no need to fight,” Apsara protested. “They’re offering to help us. Isn’t that enough? I’m sure more will be explained once we’re in a safer place.”
“Since we are the cause of the world becoming unstable, removing ourselves would be the first step to repairing the damage.” Escencia said, “There’s no need in delaying our departure.”
“Then a neutral zone where all of us can exist is the best place to be?” Flame asks.
“Try not to throw us to the side or upside down this time,” Dominator waved his hand. “Some of us get motion sick.”
Paradox made a note to absolutely open a portal flipped upside down. His smile made Dominator turn paler than he already was. The scientist sweated when Paradox opened his mouth to show pointed teeth. Black saliva dripped from his mouth and cackled when Dominator screamed.
“Enough, already!” Immortal lost his patience and snapped, “Quit fooling around!”
Sticking out his tongue, Paradox manipulated Dynamo to give a few twirls before opening a series of portals. They merged into a bigger portal. Its outer edge was formed by time crystals channeled by El resonance. Pink sparks flew dangerously from them, but it wouldn’t be a problem as long as Paradox was still here to control it.
Turning to grin at the bewildered adventurers, Paradox laughed. No one could understand time and space travel, not even him. Maybe Immortal’s insane plan would work, but he wasn’t one to hold his breath. After all, repairing dimensions was a messy business even Paradox had little experience in. However, Paradox wasn’t going to be the one fixing the mess. That was someone else’s problem.
As each group member exited into the portal, Paradox closed his eyes. The sky was a ruinous red. Dust and ash from shaken earth were still coming down. It wouldn’t be long before this dimension would see its demise unless that someone could fix it. Well, that wasn’t his problem. The last to leave, Paradox leaped onto Dynamo and flew through the portal, following the screams made by the rest of the El Search Party.

Metamorphy
No amount of glitter and magic was going to resolve Metamorphy’s problem sitting opposite to each other and avoiding eye contact. Knight and Aether arrived at their meeting spot in a shouting match before Furious Blade had to separate them, still shouting to each other as Metamorphy begged them to calm down. Code: Ultimate’s glassy eyes reflected when the queen of destruction said the new members were not part of their original party.
No matter, that didn’t change the original plan in gathering everyone to fix Paradox’s latest fuck up. Or at the very least mitigate whatever damage was done to the current world to prevent its complete collapse. There was still time.
The tension in the air was palpable between Knight and Aether. Covered in a thin sheen of dried sweat, Knight had his hands curled into fists over his lap in a quiet fume. Aether was less secretive about it and had her arms crossed, turning her head away from the redhead with a small huff. Her counterpart was cruel in giving Knight the cold shoulders, but Metamorphy also didn’t know what could have caused Aether to give the redhead that type of treatment.
“Are there more coming?” Blade asked.
“We’re still waiting on five people,” Metamorphy said.
The magical girl checked the message sent by Ultimate and forwarded to dozens of other people. As expected from Seraph’s alternate, it was succinct with a set of precise directions and a map leading to the meeting location. They were to meet north of the camping site, still within the range of the canyons surrounding the Shadow Vein. She was expecting the El Search Party to arrive as a group, but Knight said something about Chevalier still packing for the trip. Metamorphy recently received two messages that Herrscher and Paradox had gathered their groups to leave. She didn’t expect her group to be the last one!
Man, this blows. Metamorphy blew a stray strand of hair hanging over her eyes. Watching herself pretend Knight wasn’t sitting across from her was painful. Placing one finger under her chin and tilting her head to the side in thought, Metamorphy frowned. It looked like it was time for her to interfere before one of them did something stupid out of spite.
“Hey, do you have any questions you want to ask before we leave?” Metamorphy asked in the most cheerful tone she could without twitching her eyelids. She leaned against Aether and forced a smile, “I’m sure you must have a lot of questions about where we’re going!”
“I would if someone would stop hesitating every time we’re trying to save ourselves.” Aether purposely gave a side-eye to Knight with venom in her voice.
“It’s not always about us,” Knight lost his temper. “We’re going to leave behind the people we said we were going to help!”
“You can’t help people if you’re dead,” Aether said.
“We’ll figure out how to save both of us without abandoning them,” he argued.
“Like you did when you committed suicide by sacrificing yourself to the El?” She snarked.
“Is this what it’s about?” Knight growled, “I wasn’t trying to kill myself! It was either me or Elesis. I only wanted to save her and everyone else!”
“That’s so heroic of you,” Metamorphy feigned a swoon and batted her eyelashes. She tried not to laugh at Knight’s blank look and stiffened posture. The boy was clearly unused to that sort of response. “Giving yourself away because you see little value in yourself over that of something bigger than you.”
Metamorphy beamed when she felt two pairs of eyes glaring at her and did a little curtsy with her skirt. She knew she had hit a sore spot because Knight clawed his hands over his armor with extra fervor and gritted his teeth. The magical girl could see the wheels turning of Knight fighting back the temptation to snap at a stranger that shared his teammate’s face.
“Is that what you think he did?” Aether was the first to speak. Good, her attention was directed to someone else than the person she was taking her anger out on for the last twenty minutes. She was looking at Metamorphy as if she was seeing a ghost.
“Did I get the details right?” Metamorphy asked with an innocent smile. She switched to a darker expression and lowered her intonation into a more sober one, “All Elswords share the same brain cell. Every one of them will do some variation of the same event. Yours isn’t any different than ours.”
“What did your Elsword do?” The Eve called Ultimate asked. Her cold exterior was veiled by concern and curiosity, traits Metamorphy hasn’t seen on Seraph in years. It was saddening to see that most Eves retained their emotions except for the one Metamorphy grew up with.
“Gave himself away to the El to save his sister,” Metamorphy said. “His sister was saved, but he wasn’t. We were lucky to find his body and pull him back before the El permanently consumed him. The El extended his powers over the Dark El and made him stronger. ”
“But his sister isn’t here?” Blade noted the use of past tense.
“No one has seen her in weeks,” Metamorphy showed her discomfort. Immortal put on a happy face, but she knew it was all a farce. Pulling the team together was his last attempt to find a purpose in retrieving the El as a guise to relocate Bloody Queen. “We came here looking for Paradox because Immortal wanted everyone together to fight against the new enemy. It didn’t occur to us that there would be more of you.”
Knight was silent. All of his anger disappeared in place with a solemn smile. He was sympathizing with Immortal, nodding in understanding despite little else being said about the sword user. Metamorphy didn’t have to say more.
No matter the size of the enemy or new cause, all Elswords saw the importance of gathering as many allies as possible. It made hiding from enemies difficult because of the sheer size of their group, but it gave them an advantage in number. However, with Queen missing in addition to Paradox and the demons appearing sporadically, their current team was standing at eight permanent team members. She knew it broke Immortal’s heart to see it remain relatively small for an adventurer party in comparison to the other paths.
“No one would be angry at you for leaving,” Metamorphy looked at Knight with a kind expression. “You did what you could to help them. They would have liked you to take care of yourself too.”
“That’s what Elesis told me too,” Knight said. “I feel like leaving is letting them know I failed.”
“Failing in what?” Ultimate asked.
“Helping them from the source of their home being destroyed,” Knight explained. “Someone out there is going to use the Dark El for selfish reasons.”
“As to be expected,” Blade said. “When something of great power exists, there will always be people seeking for it as they did with the El. I haven’t met these people you speak of, but they have made it to this point on their own before you step foot here. Like you and your friends, they will find a way to make it through today.”
“Are you saying there might be another way to save the El other than the Dark El?” Knight said.
“I don’t know,” Blade admitted. Dressed in white, his Nasod arm was structured with balance and weight in mind. His face wasn’t framed in as many scars as Nova’s. “I do believe that you don’t need to sacrifice a part of yourself to help others. No war was won by a single person. It takes a group of dedicated people to make the changes that matter the most to people.”
“Do you value yourself so lowly?” Aether asked. “Is it because of something we did or say to you? I just wanted you to know that you’re so important to the team. Without you, I don’t think we would have gotten to Velder, let alone to the Demon Realm. Our team would have fallen apart before that.”
“I know,” Knight said. “I didn’t say anything before, but I’m scared. What if all of this was for nothing? We help the demons, but then there’s no Dark El. Or the Henir cultists found it first. So many things can go wrong…”
Aether let out a soft laugh. Quiet and melodic, it bounced off the canyon walls surrounding the outside of Shadow Vein. Knight looked up from his lap, confused by her reaction and looking over to Metamorphy for a hint. The magical girl shrugged.
“We place so much weight on you,” Aether said with a sad smile. “You didn’t have to take the lead, but you always did. With enthusiasm, but then that went away because of all the danger we were always in.”
“Raven or Elesis should have been the leader,” Knight said. “They have more experience than me. What would a kid like me know?”
“At eighteen years old, you are no longer a child.” Ultimate said, “but I agree that your current arrangement is not productive for the party. It would be more effective and efficient if you were to make more decisions as a group rather than rely on one person.”
“Is that something your team does?” Knight asks. “Rune told me about it and I thought it was strange how different even our teams operate.”
Is that how it worked for these two parties? Metamorphy was interested in hearing more. Every El Search Party had a different setup. Some relied on a single person as their leader, often Elsword unless he was killed or the responsibility was handed over to another person, usually Raven or Elesis. She once met a party led by Ciel. It was… strange and more often involved searching for ingredients for new recipes. Other parties made decisions as a group or focused on a few key members to make important decisions.
“You don’t have to choose the path others did before you,” Blade said. “I think you of all people know that the most. Choose what works for you so you don’t overwork yourself.”
“I want to help everyone,” Knight said. “But that isn’t possible, is it?”
“We’ll help you,” Aether went over to sit next to Knight, leaning against the knight with a bright smile. “Once we’re back together with the others, we can start making decisions as a team.”
“Thanks, Aisha.” Knight smiled back, “You’re not so bad when you’re nice.”
Aether twitched and threw her staff at the red-haired knight. Folding her arms across her chest, the mage spun around and scowled. So much for a short moment of peace, Metamorphy laughed.
“Since when wasn’t I nice?” Aether asked.
“I’m joking, I’m joking!” He held up both hands, “I didn’t mean it like that! I mean you’re cool, uh, thoughtful!”
“I suppose I’ll take that as a compliment,” Aether picked up her staff and pouted.
“You’re expecting a lot of him to take a hint,” Metamorphy winked at her counterpart. “He doesn’t know, does he?”
“Know what?” Knight asked.
“Thought so,” Metamorphy smirked. She cupped Knight’s face in between her gloved hands and gushed, “You’re so cute not knowing anything.”
“Hey!” Aether protested.
Knight’s face turned into the same color as his hair.
Metamorphy dropped her hands and jokingly stuck out her tongue to her counterpart. She could see why Paradox was inclined to stay with the two groups. They were so much fun to talk to! She couldn’t wait to tell her teammates about the new people she had met.
“They’re here,” Ultimate said. Pointing through her line of vision were five silhouettes framed by dark shadows cast by the sun against the granite floor.
A woman in a black cocktail dress walked beside a man wearing white armor and a blue scarf. Devi was chuckling at something said by Phantom, who was pointing to Metamorphy and making gestures to himself. The cyan colored eyes and hair gave away Richter’s identity in how he kept looking back at the two demons walking behind him.
Hulling heavy bags were Chevalier and Ishtar. Their eyes shone like stars, lost in their own separate conversation. Metamorphy overheard mentions of food and exotic spices from a faraway land. It was strange to see the demons be talkative over the dreaded silence she more frequently witnessed between Anular and Iblis.
“There you are!” Metamorphy ran up to them with open arms, “Now we’re ready to take off!”
“Where are we going?” Richter asked.
“Will there be demons?” Devi smirked.
“No demons,” Metamorphy shook her head. “I think you’ve all been to this place. Henir's Time and Space?”
“I see.” Phantom said, “It’s a neutral space because Glave made it so that there can be multiple copies of the same person.”
“You think Glave can fix this?” Chevalier asked.
“He certainly has the abilities to suggest he can,” Ishtar remarked.
“After telling us about the corrupted monsters, Glave must have seen some kind of use in us,” Blade said. “It wouldn’t hurt to ask him for help.”
“Exactly!” Metamophy said, “Besides, I think there’s a way to reset this dimension so that any of the damage done right now will never happen.”
“How?” Aether asked.
Metamorphy looked at the nine people entrusted in her hands, knowing fully well that Immortal trusted her in taking them to safety. It was a lot to ask, but she wasn’t ready to give up on these people just yet. Despite the number of dimensions she had visited, she never stayed long enough to see the fates of their denizens. She wanted to see the future of the lively people she had barely talked to.
“Why, I’m glad you asked!” Metamorphy heard herself speak. She clasped her hands together with a cheerful smile, “It means we’re going to let this dimension collapse on itself!”

Author Notes: When I first drafted the outline for this fic, I imagined it to end by chapter 8. I started this fanfic out of the wish to see all the paths interact in some shape or form. It means a lot to me to see that many people want the same. Everyone’s feedback was encouraging and it helped me keep going. I’m not sure when the next update will occur because of work, but I plan on continuing with the story until the very end. Sorry for the long chapter.
