Apparently people think they’re special and their opinion is more important than people’s lives, so let me explain this to you:

THE USA IS A TWO-PARTY SYSTEM

Yes, that is awful, but that’s the game being played, and for now you need to play it smartly, if you actually care.

I do not care what party you are registered as. I don’t. I don’t care about why. I don’t care if you’re DEM, GOP, libertarian, independent, green. Don’t give a damn. But in a two-party system, when people with good morals and ethics choose not to vote for a progressive or liberal candidate, they are doing what we refer to as “splitting the vote”.

Let’s say you have 10 people. There’s two choices as to places you can go, and majority wins. 5 people want to go to a Trump rally, and 4 to a march against fascism. If you say “Look I know I’m a good person and all, but I really just hate both groups, so I’m going to vote we go to the zoo” GUESS WHERE THE GROUP IS GOING! A Trump rally. You split the vote of the decent people, and sent everyone to hell.

I am tired of people arguing “well that’s the party’s choice. If they wanted to win they should have run things more adeptly. I’m voting this way out of protest.”

THAT IS A STANCE OF TREMENDOUS PRIVILEGE. It tells me you believe that you will be alright and able to survive in the new regime, and so it isn’t life or death for you.

Meanwhile, for everyone you say you care about, it’s LITERALLY life or death. Your “protest vote” is actually just looking a disabled, gay, queer, BIPOC, trans, or uterus owning person in the face and saying “I could have helped but I decided my protest and feelings meant more than backing the party that will do the least damage to you in the near future. So suck it up and die because my feelings are more important.”

THIRD PARTY VOTES ARE VOTES FOR GOP CANDIDATES. If you want to protest, you vote for someone, and then you harass them to do what you want. That’s how it works.

You don’t like it? Vote for candidates that want to change the system and make it less of a two-party system.

Stop throwing BIPOC, LGBTQIA, disabled, and uterus having people under the bus for your ego. Stop condemning this planet to destruction because you decided, willynilly, to toss your vote in a trashcan.

Vote progressive at all times, if you want progress.
