I would like to know what Owen Wilson's thought process was when he decided that Mobius should call Loki a pussycat in season 1, like sir that was a phenomenal decision we stan

What I love most about the Loki series, and Lokius in particular, are the little nuanced moments in both Tom Hiddleston's and Owen Wilson's performances.

Like, the moment with Owen/Mobius standing with his hands clenched outside the time loom, with tear stain tracked cheeks and watery eyes.

Or Owen's facial expressions and body language in the Sy**lvie pie scene, especially when Loki walks off and leaves him there. Mobius looks so devastated and about to cry. That moment haunts me.

Another one I don't see discussion of is when Casey tells Mobius in ep one that Loki is at the TVA and has been looking for him and Mobius whispers "where?".

The first time I watched, I thought it was an odd thing to say. I did not realize at first, what's being implied: that Mobius has already searched every nook and cranny of the TVA for Loki. Maybe more than once.

Mobius is stunned to know Loki is there because Mobius has been searching and could not find him.

And it's just...Owen gets ignored a lot, by TH/Loki fans, but DANG. I always knew Owen was a good actor and he really proved it, especially this season.

So many good moments. "Scar tissue" and "let time pass" are two of the shows best dramatic moments, and Owen killed it.

I hope someone other than Tom (lol) has let him know how great he was in the series.

do you still have faith that Lokius will be endgame? asking for a more informed opinion than mine because there were a few moments that seemed intentionally lokius-coded (the "I know who i have to be- for you" but both him and sylvie were there instead of only sylvie, also where he was probably watching Mobius at the very end) among other things.

To me, Loki and Mobius are very much in love and canon. Most people that don't suffer from heteronormativity are able to see it.

But I gotta be completely honest with you, this is Disney and the MCU. Well known for being homophobic. It will only ever be explicitly canon once they realise that making Loki and Mobius canon is a money-maker. Which it would be, but they have yet to realise it, and I don't know if they ever will.

I think for now it's best to just enjoy what the fandom creates and makes out of the source material. Have fun with fanart, fanfictions and other fan-created things because this fandom is wonderful and insanely talented.

I'm not giving up hope for explicit canon Lokius completely, tho, because you never know. Let's just be loud about our love for this relationship and hope for the best :)

Can't stop thinking about Lokius using a photo booth. So here's this!!!!

“Photoautomat,” Mobius said, eyes twinkling as he looked at Loki knowingly. He raised his hand to his ear, as if listening to something, “Don’t you hear it calling our names? ‘Come get your photo taken, Loki. It’s a perfect way to capture a memory, Mobius,’” he joked, giving him a showy smile and pulling at the sleeve of his jacket. "Come on, Loki. Let's do something fun!” Loki shuffled awkwardly. “Shouldn’t we be getting back to the TVA?” “When have you ever wanted to get back to the TVA?” Mobius laughed. Memories of timelines flowing around him and the loneliness that accompanied them flooded his mind. Mobius seemed to realise what he'd said just as Loki gave him a pointed look. “Oh,” Mobius said quietly. He let go of Loki's sleeve and turned to face him. “Being able to make memories with you is something I never thought I'd be able to do again. I want something to remember these moments by, if that's okay with you.” Loki looked at his companion, fondness surging through his chest. What a pair they were. A lonely god who never felt as if he belonged, and a man who had his memory wiped for an undetermined amount of time to facilitate a goal that he never consented to. Mobius moved his hand to rest gently on Loki's shoulder. “Can’t a guy have some fun with his best friend?” He added softly. And with a tilt of Mobius' head, it was all over for Loki.

Centuries Later: a Lokius finale one-shot

"Loki, what the shit are you doing?"

"I'm," he starts and stops. Sighs. 

Over the last few hundred years he's learned a lot. Besides what he’d set out to learn he’s inadvertently memorized his friends' responses to anything he says. 

Even if he says the same thing ten times in a row, any vocal or facial tic changed has a butterfly effect, and he's come to know literally all of them. 

It’s made reality go a bit wonky, made it a bit like a jetksi simulator game, at least from what he’s heard. His friends aren’t looking at him, they’re looking through him, and he’s begun to dissapear for it. 

In his efforts to save the universe he's become painfully aware of his insignificance in it and the simple role he plays. Because his life has become just that. A role. He'll hit the lines that get them the quickest results and he’ll hit them again and again. 

He’ll improvise from time to time, make jokes with his friends, and enjoy his conversation like he’s still there. But there came a point where he couldnt think of any new jokes to tell, and that might’ve been decades ago. He doesn't remember when time got away from him. 

He still tries to break out of his dissociative state though. God, he still tries. Because sometimes Loki breaks. Like now.

“I've been doing this for a very, very long time. Reliving this moment, learning everything I can, everything I have to. I haven't been outside the TVA and if I'm honest sometimes I think I miss the sun?" His voice cracks. He's in it now, and his skin feels tight with the embarrassing open show of emotion. He positions his hands on the console to square his shoulders and get himself together when-

"Aw man, come here." He's encircled by… warm arms. Tweed clad. Mobius' shampoo is… coconut? He's hugging him. This hasn't happened in any reset. "You're just tired, Loki. Everyone needs a break from time to time, even gods, alright?"

Ridiculous, cartoonish man. His best friend. The love of his life, not a simulation. Loki hugs him back desperately, and finds peace. Over the next century or two he wastes a lot of time with Mobius. He never remembers, but always looks like he does. Every minute is worth it.

STUDY IN LOKI ROMANCE

Part 2: Breaking Brad

Since we're only a few days away from the last episode, I decided to COUNT DOWN everything we´ve got so far ( that can be interpreted very easily as romantic ) and discuss what the actual fuck is going on with second season. Because even though I shipped lokius practically from S1E2, I absolutely did NOT expect this kind of development. (Not that I´m complaining)

Warning: This is gonna be LONG post, lots of screenshots, lots of SPOILERS, lot of "oh-my-god-they-so-cute" language, and little bit of meta.

I originally thought that this post would be everything at once, but since I have just too many screenshots this time around, I´ll have to split it. so every post will be one episode. Color coding means:

IIIIIIIIII = anything, that coud potentialy be just acting choice.

IIIIIIIIII = everything else (tzn.: whatever was written, and/or carefully prepared by filmmakers. )

side note: I already wrote, about how amazing it is, that Mobius is unable to fight but fights anyway and how beautifuly, and ridiculously brave he is HERE. But this is about Loki/Mobius interactions, so I´ll try my best not to talk about THAT. (Even when I´m really happy, that s2 continues with this formula and Mobius is still his completely defenseless while aggressively brave self. I love him, btw.)

Mobius opening up to Loki, and admiting he "lost it"

Loki trying to make him feel better and absolutely KILLING IT! btw, I know, that some people think, this scene doesn´t make sense, because Loki didn´t "lost it" during avengers, but was controlled by mind stone, etc.... well I think that it actually doesn´t matter. Guess what else doesn´t make sense? For example the fact, that they already talked about Loki fighting Avengers ( during their first meeting.) Loki is aware, that Mobius saw New York invasion at least twice now, and he´s telling him anyway. I would say, that point here is Loki trying to lift Mobius´s spirit, entertain him, make him smile. Why else woud he start his monolog by "remember, when...?" And I think, that this is huge, actually: Loki, using his bad memory, defeat, his humulianting experience to make Mobius feel better. So not only, that we see, he no longer care about being rurel but we see him making lightly fun of it FOR MOBIUS´S SAKE! He has different priorities now... our immortal god is a grown man now... it´s just so fucking beautiful... 🥺

Also Mobius saying to Loki: "come on, you´re the God of Mischief" Like it´s a best thing in the world, and Loki gives him THIS LOOK! (I mean that head tilt would be considered "acting" category, but I´m already making concessions by including all these things under one number :D

19) Loki and Mobius: mischievous duo

21) Loki, not following Sylvie, but actually staying with Mobius and comforting him. AGAIN. (which is an absolutely glaring contrast compared to episode 2 in first season!)

“You know, I was teasing you with that pussycat remark, but you sure do live up to the name,” Mobius said as he continued to trail his fingers through Loki’s hair. 

It was a rare moment of downtime for them. Loki lay stretched out along the length of Mobius’ couch, his head in Mobius’ lap. His eyes had been closed, a small smile on his face as he enjoyed the petting, but now he opened them.

“One doesn't have to be a cat to appreciate a soothing touch,” Loki said. 

Mobius was sure his expression didn’t change but Loki picked up on his bewilderment anyway. Loki cocked his head, his green eyes contemplative. 

“Mobius, has no one ever given you a kind touch before?” 

“That’s a hell of a question coming from you,” Mobius said, chuckling. 

Loki sat up, turning on the couch to give him an amused look. 

“There’s a difference between what we’ve done, and what you were doing for me just now.” 

As if to demonstrate, Loki leaned forward and kissed Mobius, sliding his fingers into Mobius’ hair as he did so. Because of their discussion, Mobius felt hyperaware of what Loki’s hands were doing, how they felt cupping his head to hold him still. Loki tilted his head and continued kissing him, until Mobius reached out for him. Then Loki pulled back, but as he did, he dug his fingernails in lightly, drawing tingling lines across Mobius’ scalp. 

Mobius leaned towards Loki, trying to recapture his lips, but Loki stopped him with a hand on his chest. Loki scooted back on the couch to put more room between them and then patted his thighs. 

“Come on, lay down for me.” 

Mobius debated ignoring the instruction and crawling forward to pin Loki down—it was a tactic he’d used before and knew Loki would enjoy what would follow—but Loki looked so eager. Might as well humor him, even if Mobius didn’t see the point. 

“All right, you win.” He wriggled around until he was the one stretched out with his head in Loki’s lap. It felt strange. Usually it was the other way around, something that always made Mobius’ heart both constrict and grow at Loki placing so much trust in him. 

He trusted Loki, but this kind of position didn’t feel as vulnerable to him as it did for his partner. 

Loki was upside-down in Mobius’ vision, his lips seemingly curving in a frown. The crinkling of his eyes gave away that it was a smile. 

“Excellent,” Loki said. “Now, close your eyes.” 

Mobius still didn’t see the point of all this, but he did as instructed. He stretched his legs out and clasped his hands over his stomach as he waited for the next bit. 

Loki’s fingers settled gently on Mobius’ head, just at his hairline, then slowly dragged back through his hair. It tingled, much like it had after their kiss. Loki did it again with both hands and a shiver rolled down Mobius’ body. Somehow it was sending both the right and wrong signals to his brain. 

“Just relax,” Loki murmured above him, continuing the gentle scratches along his scalp. 

“Kinda difficult when you’re doing that,” Mobius said, doing his best to ignore how he was getting hard. He heard Loki’s soft huff of laughter and smiled. 

Mobius stopped trying so hard to relax and just let himself observe what he was feeling. The slightly lumpy couch beneath him he’d never thought of replacing until Loki came along and complained about it. The quiet of the room around them. The warmth of Loki’s legs beneath his head and the way the repetitive sensation of his fingers was making Mobius’ thoughts turn slow. 

Then Loki began to hum. Softly, wordlessly, as his fingers continued to comb through Mobius’ hair. Mobius didn’t recognize the tune but it sounded nice. 

“Never heard you sing before,” he mumbled, but the words felt like they came from far away. He heard that soft huff again. 

“I don’t do it often,” Loki replied, a smile in his voice. Mobius knew the one: soft and indulgent and all for him. It made a smile of his own tug at his lips. 

Loki resumed his humming, fingers still gently scratching through Mobius’ hair. Slowly, Mobius felt his face relax, then the rest of his muscles, his body growing heavier and heavier until he sunk into sleep.

Seven Sentence Sunday

It’s Sunday for just a few more minutes as I type this, I need to go to bed to wake up earlier tomorrow but I wanted to post this first!

I’m acctualkt making decent progress on the cat fic but this piece falls pretty soon after the one I posted last week. Basically Lokius being saps (what else is new lol)

Aaanndd just like last week this is actually 8 sentences but it felt awkward cutting it off/starting it elsewhere so I’m sticking with it 😅

“Absolutely beautiful… Have I told you that recently?” Loki asks coyly.

Mobius pretends to consider his answer. “I suppose once or twice,” he tilts his head into the large hand that Loki has cradling his head. “Never gets tiring from you, though. Though it’s hard to imagine it being true at the moment, since I’ve just woken up.”

“Nonsense,” Loki replies, his hand curling around the back of Mobius’ head to tangle his fingers in the scruffy hairs. “I’m looking at the most stunning man alive, who’s smiling at me after the best night of my life. So eternally gentle, so loving… How could I not find you beautiful?”

Why Lokius Should Have Been Canon

This is a sort of combo of two metas that didn't quite get point my across. Some parts will be copied directly, but there's a lot of original content. I will discuss the ship between Loki and Mobius, their place in the show, and the MCU at large. My focus for this meta won't be parallels or motifs, because these things border on well-written friendships. But there will be some of that.

Romance in the MCU

There are a lot of straight couples in the MCU. (Almost) Every main hero is in some heterosexual relationship, Loki included.

(That's not all, not remotely).

But in the LGBTQ+ department... uh.. I think it was mentioned that Valkyrie had a girlfriend... uh... America Chavez had a pride pin... and Loki:

One line. Queer experiences are never a focal point of a show/movie the same way heterosexual experiences are. And that needs to change.

Romance In the Show

Wrong, toxic, or unsuccessfu romantic love is a recurring theme in the show.

Sylki

Sylki was an icky relationship right off the bat. They are the same person. I can't find the post at the moment, but someone has pointed out in their post that them being the same person is referenced in every episode in season 1 (edit: here it is), which is when the romance took place. This made their romance uncomfortable for many viewers.

(Some consider Sylki a toxic relationship, but for this post, the topic is too large to handle with the nuance I'd like to handle it with).

When he's drunk, Loki compares love to a dagger, stating that it hurts you, but when you try to find strength in it, it's not real.

Which is exactly what happens. Sylvie pushes Loki into a portal and they never get back together.

The Love Triangle

In 02×03, Ravonna Renslayer is infatuated with Victor Timely, but he leaves her behind and betrays her when Miss Minutes told him to. One episode later, we discover that they were indeed an item, and established the TVA together. He Who Remains deleted her memories and they never rekindle their love.

Later in the episode, is the best example of "wrong" romance in the show. Miss Minutes, the AI clock, confesses her love to Viktor Timely. He, obviously, freaks out and shuts her off. Nothing ever comes of this.

Brad and Dox

This one is small, but a big indication to romance being a theme. In 02×01, we're shown this:

The gap in the age of the actors is uncomfortable, and a character in universe has this reaction to it. It is never mentioned again.

So what does all of this leave us with? Not much. None of this properly ties to the finale, or anything really. If I were to write the show I would cut a lot of this out, since it serves no purpose. But it does make you keep romance and its shortcomings in mind. The writers want it to be there, in the back of your head.

Loki and Mobius

Finally! I got to talk about them. The two people in question. First things first, who are they, together? They became really supportive, close friends.

Fans even drew parallels to Chaos & Order, which is a very important theme in Loki. But I'm not here to unpack them. These things don't necessarily make them in love. So what does make them in love? I'll present you my evidence, and you ask yourself,

Would it be valid to suggest romantic implications if a man and a women are:

1) Extremely thouchy with each other.

2) Riding on a tandem bike together.

3) Willing to suffer a fate worst than death for another.

4) Falling on each other after that^

5) Literally the Interrupted Declaration of Love trope. (Ex)

6) Being framed in a circle.

7) Waiting & giving permission to attack.

8) Fixing themselvs before seeing the other.

Of course yes. Maybe you think some of these are a strech, but ultimately, people would point out romantic connotations across the board. And I'm here, pointing them out right now. Some scenes between Loki and Mobius have romantic implications.

Conclusion

Loki is a queer protagonist in the MCU, a universe that lacks representation of queer experiences. His show constantlty reminded us of romance, sometimes for seemigly no reason. In the second season, they wrote him and his best friend with romantic implications. And then, nothing. It should not have been nothing. Lokius should have been canon.

Best Lokius moments: season 2 edition (post 1/2)

Okay y’all I’ve seen multiple posts now about how “dumb” it is that Sylki has had limited to no romantic/soft moments and they’ve only been fighting this season while Lokius has had a ton of nice romantic moments and like??? Yeah??? It’s almost like if a ship is going to be endgame or canon it would make sense to build up a positive relationship.

I saw one post say it was stupid that Lokius has gotten so much attention over Sylki when “we all know it’s not going to happen”. Why do we all know it’s not going to happen? Because it’s a mainstream character in a big franchise in a gay ship? Even though that character has been confirmed bi over and over again in the source material and beyond? That’s exactly the problem.

I just think it’s very telling that the straight ship’s own shippers acknowledge that there is no real romance between them this season and they are in two completely different places in terms of character development, goals, needs, etc, and still shit on the gay ship and complain that their relationship is being focused on too much by the show because “it’s not going to happen”.

It’s a really bad case of queerbaiting and they are mad at the wrong people. The fans of Lokius aren’t what’s making Sylki bad. The studio knows Sylki was less popular after last season and leaned into Loki and Mobius. The fact that they won’t follow through is entirely on the studio, not Lokius shippers.

Now all of this to say, I’m VERY skeptical of Lokius going any sort of cannon. I honestly think the best we can hope for is the tried and true ol’ “ambiguous ending” That so many studios go for in this situation. I got my clown shoes on and I’m honking my nose but it is what it is.

loki’s love for sylvie isn’t real. marvel wants us to side with loki and root for them since we know the depth of their relationship but mobius doesn’t know, he only sees it at face value so he says it like it is. loki loves himself, he’s narcissistic. he’s not laying this out for him nicely. he’s practically roasting loki’s relationship with sylvie. yet prior to this, mobius tells loki in the time loop that he can still be good. in case no one has told him otherwise which is just so mobius. he sees the best in people and this inevitably affects loki and changes him for the better. but in this scene loki is in denial about his weird love with sylvie because of course he is. it’s so common to be in denial about toxic relationships we’ve been in, even when someone on the outside is telling us the truth. that they’re not good for you, that it’s not real.

then the score cuts out until loki breaks when mobius threatens the time loop again and tells mobius that he’s a variant. in boy who cried wolf fashion mobius doesn’t believe him, and as the realization sets in the score continues. this is a huge moment not just for mobius but for their relationship. loki still hasn’t accepted that his love for sylvie isn’t real but it will be revealed after she kicks him through the time door. and after he finds her only for her to reject him, only then, does he go to mobius without looking back to sylvie. this moment lays the foundation for loki that his love for sylvie isn’t real.

they could have named that score anything else but they settled on ‘lokius’ because sylvie and loki was never ABOUT sylvie and loki, it was about loki learning to let go of a love that isn’t real and go to where it is, mobius.
