Doc (D'Angelo) and Hush are here <3 <3. And I have a decent bit to say about Hush in particular sooo: - D'Angelo (He/Him) is African American, and just generally very tired, overworked and... not having the best time. He works specifically as a Healer and Warder, and spends most of his free time just laying at home. He doesn't eat very well even though he can probably afford to. He just... has that 'burnt out college student' lifestyle well out of college. He's doing his best :,). Also often ends up coming home late due to his coworkers wanting to get drinks with him. Does not help things. - Hush is such a creature I love him so so much. I had a few important things I wanted to show in his design, and I think I did. Firstly was his being a bit Android... like. Since D'Angelo asked if he was one during their first meeting. All those markings and lines on the skin pass well enough :). Also, he has a lot of Daemonic appearance, with horns and such, but no tail, and the horns are instead supposed to look like a Halo. This brings me to the third thing, which is I wanted him to look like... an angel. Specifically a humanoid Throne (the many-eyed wheels.) He has a few... extra eyes on his horns, which he usually keps shut but very well can open. Still deciding how many. And he has 5 on his face, and maybe more on his hands or other areas. And his outfit is a play on how I dress Vega, just in lighter colours. Specifically Teal and Pink to represent... Min'Ara and E'Laetum. Because I think THEY made him. He is just... such a guy. I loved designing him so much. Hope y'all like him even though I would not say this is a terribly... common interpretation.

The two boys were more reluctant to accept your pressence, although they were polite with you... well Huey was RIley on the other hand would swear at you - You always took good care of them, you watched them closely and made sure they ate proeprly and didn’t get hurt... - When grandpa freeman says anything sexual around the two you gave the male an disgusted look just like the two boys and go try to cover their ears the best you could - When needed too you Cover the two's eyes whenever something bad would effect them which confuses the two since they were used to this type of shit but Huey didn't try to peak while Riley was squirming saying he wanted to see what the hell was going on - Riley is a highly impressionable third grader. He embraces the stereotypical "gangsta" lifestyle, doing his best to promote the urban culture in the contrasting suburb of Woodcrest since he was HEAVILY Influenced by the mass media via rap music and television, he frequently uses poor grammar, and tends to defend his idols even when his imitations go against common sense and righteousness... BUT DAMN WHEN HE SAW YOU WHOOP SOMEONE IS ASS WITH YOU IN HEELS? HE WAS GAWKING! - Huey is a highly intelligent 10-year-old boy, who rarely smiles or laughs, and recognizes and detests the absurdities (both obvious and perceived) of the society in which he lives. His cynicism often touches upon subjects such as politics, religion, the media, businesses and corporations, African-American culture, and American society as a whole. Tending to be obstinate in both manner and speech which makes you freak out on how an 10 year old knows ALOT! - Huey has shown like ALOT OF DEPTH! of understanding that would seem to surpass his young age, such as knowing roughly what is going to happen in the future based on the actions and personalities of the people involved... Which makes you concerned asking him if he or riley had even gotten a proper childhood... - Riley when he is close to getting his ass whooped would run towards you screaming and hide behind your legs as you stare in utter confusion when he jumps into your arms or hides behind your legs as Grandpa freeman stop and stare at you "Put the boy down Sweet pea I gotta beat this boys ass!" You stared at Grandpa Freeman before staring at riley before running away with the child in your arms screaming as Huey just stared at the chaos unfolding - After awhile you would cpome visit and would try to offer to braid rileys hair which he doesn't allow at first...

- When he does get comfy though and needs his cornrows to be fixed or get a new design he would go to you sit down between your legs on the couch while picking up his controller which makes you laugh - You and Huey discuss lots of things together and compliment and praise the young boy fro his work which he is thankful for - You are seen like a motherly figure to them after 7 Months of meeting you due to your sweet personality - For Riley and Hueyy felt so nice to have someone caring for them other then grandpa freeman. After all they didn't grow up with a good relationship with their parents or didn't have any? you didn't know - You are shocked by the boys is skills... like THEY KNOW SELF DEFENSE! in an shocking way and have done things no child would have done but this was Woodcrest... - Huey and Riley would come up to you if they ever finish a test and show you their scores huey always getting 100 and Riley getting... lets not talk about riley is scores - They both enjoy how you pat their heads when they do something right - Whenever they try to cuss infront of you, they always get an glare from you "Boy if you even try that Imma get your grandad to whoop you" You stated with an smile that held an menacing aura - You panic sometimes when you come to visit and see the boys attack eachother with weapons and they both stop quickly when you shout their names and scold them - If you ahve siblings though and their is a party at your place due to your partner hosting it they would be amazed how you are a whole different person cussing out your siblings - The other woodcrest neighbourghs wood also be shocked to see you close to whooping your younger/older sibling(s) asses with your purse cause they ate the last piece of your favourite food - You definetly will have to step in between Riley and Huey sometimes to stop them from killing one another which always freaks you out - You were staying over and helping Grandpa freeman with his upcoming date but you brought some sweets and got some of them eating one before lifting one up and walking towards you and Huey who were sitting on teh couch talking about one of Hueys recent experiments "Yo ma! what the fuck is this-" Riley froze when he realized what he said as Huey froze aswell turning to Riley with an raised brow as you stared at Riley - Riley spoke "Yall N**** ain't heard shit!" Riley said quickly but was to late when you rushed over hugging riley "AWWWW! RILEYYYY!" Huey glared at Riley who was getting your attention as Riley scoffed hugging you back - Riley and Huey wouldn't call you Ma, or Mother in public only in private cause they didn't want to seem like 'Pussies' by rileys words but to Huey he just doesn't want you to know he see's you as a mother figure - For huey the first time he call you Ma/mother was when you praised him for succeding in one of his experiments he worked REALLY hard on - he was in the garage and his eyes widened when he saw he succeed on making the bomb he had spent so long on... So when you come by he perks up slightly which is unusual and grabbing your hand taking you to the garage and telling you about his... 'Experiment' that def isn't a bomb and how long it took "Thats amazing Huey! your such a Genuis! you are an intelligent young boy I'm very proud of you" you stated with an sweet smile patting his head while his afro cause you didn't know where to pat as he stares up at you and looks away smiling slightly which wasn't shown well "Thanks Ma" Riley was walking past to grab his basketball before having his jaw drop so fast when hearing those quiet words from Hueys lips - Huey denies he ever said it but would say it to you in private. - He enjoys that he doesn't have to always be the responsible one in the family even if you live next door - They call you mom/momma/mum/mama/ma/mother - Believe it or not Huey respects you more than anyone in this world, I mean- have you seen yourself when you protected them of a group of assholes

- It’s still strange for you to know why some people hated the two boys Riley he has definitely called you “mom/mama” ) sometimes... and YES, Huey is still mocking him for that, when he does, surprisingly Riley does not get violent, he just scowls in shame and shouts “Well, SHE IS our mom! right?”  he just looks at you with the most confused and adorable expression ever made and you just can’t say no to him. - The two boys are very thankful for you like REALLY THANKFUL! even if they don't show it alot - Grandpa freeman is very greatful for having you around so he didn't have to always look after those assholes

These ladies are female protagonists in their respective franchises. All of them have different body types that contrast from the default thin, petite body type that we're used to seeing. And all of them are BEAUTIFUL! 💖

Three of these ladies became love interests that ended up in healthy relationships with partners who love them for who they are. Also, four of them are women of color. (idk if Fiona counts. While she is green, she started off white so... 50/50? 🤷🏾‍♀️) That part is especially relevant to this post because Twitter got me EFFED UP. I'M ON ONE, ON TWO, ON THREE TODAY!

So the concept art of Mutant Mayhem's April O'Neil was revealed by James A. Castillo, an artist who worked on the movie.

And people are DRAGGING HIM LEFT AND RIGHT! Being disrespectful to both him and April's design. I can tell you right now not even a third of those quotes aren't positive! There is a vast difference between criticism and insults:

💛"I do not like this design. Besides the color yellow and her red/ginger hair, she simply doesn't read as April O'Neil." That's criticism. This expresses disproval of the design without any vulgarities.

💔"Rethink your entire career. "Artist" my ass! This shit is garbage! She looks like she sleeps in a van and smokes so much weed she reeks of it. You failed." That's disrespect. And I don't think I need to tell you why.

Normally, I tend not to discuss such sensitive topics on my blog (religion, politics, discrimination of ANY kind, etc.) for my sanity and out of respect for others with opposing views. But today, I will make an exception.

I would love to include Luisa, who alongside April was mocked and disrespected heavily for her appearance, but I wanted to speak on this matter from the perspective of a plus-sized African American woman. Luisa comes from an completely different background whose culture and standards I am not entirely familiar with. I can't speak on what I don't know. Respectfully.💜

In the black community, women are faced with colorism, texturism, constant comparison, and body image negativity on a daily basis. And a good amount of it comes from our own community! Our shade, our 4C hair, our weight, our attractiveness, our lifestyle! It's brutal out here!😭😭😭

However, in terms of media a plus-sized black girl is seen as ghetto, loud, and undesirable with a side of attitude. The best example I can think of is Dijonay from The Proud Family.

This is the show I grew up on! The theme song, the characters, the Suga Mama, ICONIC! I love Dijonay to pieces, but as I grew up I realize that she was, in some aspects, a negative portrayal. She was always chasing instead of being "the chase". She was a horrible friend to Penny. And she sucumbed to a lot of negative stereotypes with barely any redeeming qualities. And this was very disheartening considering that she was the darkest one in the group. And the heaviest. And as a little chubby wubby in the 2000s with THIS as my representation? I have to give the writers a bit of the side eye. Was she any better in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder? To that I would say.... meh. I love her in the reboot, but they could do so much more with her in my opinion. I still haven't seen them address the issue of colorism. 👀

While she is not a human, Gloria is voiced by a black woman (Jada Pinkett Smith) and imitates the sass of a black woman so... yeah. She's included. Gloria was persued by two men. One was the suave, flexing hippo Motto Motto. And the other was her friend/neighbor from her childhood Melman. She chose the latter for good reason of course. Now in Madagascar, Gloria wasn't mocked or criticized for her weight. In fact, hippos are known for their weight. However, she was seemingly fetishized for it. By Motto Motto to be exact. And being fetishized is NOT better than being ridiculed.

Unlike Dijonay, April was the chase, a love interest for Leonardo. I admit, I was SHOCKED that she was gonna be persued. Let alone that the writers wanted to try another Turtle/April pairing considering how April and Donnie went...😬. Now her backlash was on a completely different level. One that I wasn't even prepared for....

While Gloria and Dijonay are original characters, Mutant Mayhem's April O'Neil is a different interpretation of the character that has existed since the 80's. The same can be said for the Turtles, Splinter, literally everybody else! Every show and movie for that matter! And with every story, she changes. Design, motivation, relationships/dynamics, even race as of lately. All of it changes. And change isn't bad. In my opinion, it keeps things fresh and interesting instead of spoon feeding us the same story and concepts over and over again. Change challenges us. Change motivates us. However, some people don't like change nor want to accept it and adjust. And that's life. That's just the way it is. But change is necessary in order to progress.

She wasn't bad in the movie AT ALL. I absolutely adored her! And the dynamic between her and Leo wasn't akward or uncomfortable at all. It was handled really well. Ayo Ediberi did an incredible job bringing her to life! (GOD, I loved her in The Bear! Shameless plug lol)

That being said, I understand some of the sensitivity that fans have when a character changes so drastically you can barely recongnize them anymore beyond the bare minimun. (See also Sonic Boom's Knuckles) But the blatant discrimination, rude comments, and the boldness, THE AUDACITY, that some of these nasty Twitter fingers with their dirty fingernails have to type such disrespect to the artist that I can't repeat up here was wild af. Like, I can't believe we have to share a planet with some of them! Uggh!😷(But that's Twitter 24/7 so what's new?) Her and Rise April don't deserve the hate they get. You don't have to like them. Art is subjective. But to insult and harrass the artists and the people who look like the characters, then mask it under the umbrella of "tHaTs mY oPiNiOn" is 🐱. I said what I said. And I will say that shit again.

Also, just because she's black doesn't mean we can't have another white April O'Neil ever again. We know goodness well they could make another iteration of TMNT and make her white if they wanted to. Heck, I encourage them to explore other races and cultures too! New York is full of them! And it's not like all the other versions of April up and vanished. You can watch them anytime on Hulu, Netflix, Paramount Plus, etc.

One more point I'd like to make is that I am an African American woman who is currently on a weight loss journey. As a plus-sized girl, I had incredibly low self-esteem and picked up toxic, unhealthy eating habits from starving myself to overeating BECAUSE I starved myself. Also, I have experienced both sides from being disrespected and made fun of to being complimented and persued. I was at my biggest weight 2 years ago and I have made incredible progress to lose weight since then. People can lose weight. It is achievable! I went to school with some people who were way bigger than me that lost the weight by senior year! Just because she's big in this movie doesn't mean she can't lose weight by the sequel. Like I've said before, it's not wrong to encourage health and fitness!💪🏾 In life, they call this a glow up. A "remember how you treated them in high school" type of comeback. People can, and are allowed to, change. And it's not wrong to embrace your body and the skin you're in. It's all relative!💖

This post isn't to convince you to change your mind. And it won't make the bullies go away. I can't change the world overnight, nor am I trying to. At the end of the day, you're the consumer. It's your choice. Your prefrence. I can't tell you how to think.

I just wanted to spread a bit of awareness that plus sized people exist. And they will always exist. Everyone is deserving of representation in media in all facets. No matter their shape, size, shade, or sexuality. There are so many people from different walks of life who deserve to be seen and on screen. And the amount of visibility for black girls this year alone is amazing! And I want the same for other women of color, too!

Don't let this trash ass society and the people in it who prefer AI/robots over human beings, fake over real, and bad over good tell you otherwise. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. YES I AM TALKING TO YOU. YOU ARE AMAZING! YOU DESERVE ALL THE GOOD THINGS IN LIFE AND MORE. YOUR STORY CAN CHANGE LIVES. BEING A GOOD, HARD WORKING PERSON DOES PAY OFF IN THE LONG RUN! Got caught up with the whole Drake and Kendrick drama recently

First of all, feel free to scroll past this if you don’t give a shit/have heard about it too any times already

But it inspired me to relisten to To Pimp A Butterfly, my favourite album of all time. I’d forgotten how majestic this album was.

I really wish it was treated more like a concept album, because that’s what it is in truth. It starts with Wesley’s theory and then “for free”, both demonstrating Kendrick’s desire for fame, and to be the great and respected by the women in his life. Then it goes to king kunta, which is a beautiful song about Kendrick celebrating achieving his goal, he is one of the greats, he made it, he’s the king. Then it starts to get self reflective, institutionalised has the key chorus “shit don’t change until you get up and wash your ass”, demonstrating the fact that Kendrick is acting like a child, wanting to be the best without considering what being the best actually means. This is further confirmed in These Walls, a haunting portrayal of toxic sexual relationships, reflecting “for free” as being completely out of touch. Kendrick then has a massive reflection in “u”, struggling with insane self loathing after his friend’s death, addressing “you” as his former self. Alright then counters the depressed mentality of the last song, explaining how despite all the struggle that he and the rest of his community will be “alright”. Then “for sale” brings forward the idea that the gangster rapper mentality is inherently toxic, and that the commodification of that lifestyle is like signing a deal with the devil. “Momma” shows the results of this self reflection, showing that he has a far deeper understanding of himself, before talking to himself as a child, who doesn’t even recognise the modern Kendrick. “Hood Politics” further describes the violence inherent to his culture. “How Much a Dollar Cost” shows how rappers become economically isolated from their communities and god. “The Blacker The Berry” shows Kendrick confronting the cultural construction of ‘the black man’, as violent, enslaved, institutionalised. This notion is completely rejected by “You ain’t gotta lie”, which demonstrates how conformity to these stereotypes is unnecessary and fake. Kendrick therefore achieves the maturity he lacks at the beginning of the album, describing how he loves himself as being true to himself rather than the constructed identities of a black man or a rapper, and countering especially the immaturity of Kendrick in “king kunta”, describing himself instead of a “king” as a “negus” a black king of Ethiopia, identifying himself with his African heritage and demonstrating his understanding of racial politics and identity. This notion of identity is further explored in “mortal man”, which analyses the very idea of black people as icons, quoting several examples, dead, alive, and killed. The song ends with a conversation with Tupac, another massive cultural icon who was killed, in which they discuss metaphors in their music and inspiring their communities.

This is of course merely one perspective, and I’ve definitely missed a lot in these songs, but just… it’s just so well done. Kendrick grows through the album, and everything about the music reflects it.

jellypop is a fictional 6 member girl group established under HYBE entertainment. the group debuted may 2022 with their smash hits BUBBLE and POP . they have a bright and fun concept that they bring across through their bubblegum pop sound as well as their catchy lyrics and choreography. many say, the group is bringing back the real k-pop.

although the entire group has been successful since their debut, there is no doubt that member jangmi is the stand out star due to her famous family ,charisma and visuals. there have been many controversy surrounding the group and jangmi’s blatant favouritism, with the group often being seen as “jangmi and friends.” she has always gotten the best outfits, the most screen time , the most lines -despite not being a main vocalist- as well as being the only member to have promotions outside of the group. this along with the competitiveness of the industry created jealousy towards jangmi leading to her being bullied and isolated by some members.

clair nari moon was was born on the 25 of feb 2001 to moon jinyoung and alice kim in cape town, south africa. clair grew up alongside her older brother jonathan (jono) jaehyun moon and baby sister angela soyeon moon . clair went to a prestigious all girl catholic private school and was well known for her bubbly and likable personality . the atmosphere wasn’t one that she felt safe in as she struggled with navigating her sexuality. she comes from a musical family with her mother being a high school music teacher and her father although a chartered accountant , played the piano. clair sang in choir and was in the play every year throughout school. she learnt to play piano from her dad. her entire family would gather around the piano since she was a baby and sing songs together . she grew up surrounded by music and so it was no surprise she would pursue it one day. she never initially wanted to be a kpop idol but after seeing a random ad to audition for hybe her little sister told her to take the risk. clair ended up training at hybe for 3.5 years.

sorry for being a little hater while watching the new natlan trailer and coughing up blood everywhere, that was a bit dramatic of me

a very not cohesive list of grievences i have with natlan [and genshin], I'm writing as i go so if its too long the rest is under read more

I mean truth be told i opened youtube, saw the trailer first thing, noticed the thumbnail, and kinda just immediately knew it was joever

we can start w the archon i guess [I'm assuming the red haired lady is the archon by using context clues] uh ive seen people argue that its fine/makes sense that she's white since the assumption that's been made is that she's based on himeko from hi3 but uh like, himeko murata is japanese, she's not white, if the name didn't make that obvious [this is similarly why i don't like the argument that nahida being white is fine due to her being based on theresa hi3, theresa is a clone of a white german woman im not sure why mhy based the archon of a nation based on swana cultures on her but i digress] i think its at least good that she beat the conquistador allegations, left a bad taste in my mouth when that was being speculated

The confirmation of names means people have been honing in on the cultures natlan is taking inspiration from, ive seen a lot. i made my best guess when talking with a friend but i believe theres polynesian, west african, indigenous american [mexico and central america? specifically based on the name citlali] [[feel free to correct me on anything]] honestly wasn't expecting much based on sumeru

Tbh i have like zero energy to hate on the natlan debut cast cuz i already did it w a friend but I'll do it anyways, its a lifestyle

the argument of, why look for dark skin rep in a game made by a company who's colorist [either by choice or due to pressure from the government since genshin has incredibly insane cultural impact in China], is legit since its like me looking for clothes at the soup store and getting upset

But genuinely even if mhy had a vision with genshin and wanted to show a diverse world in its game, its kinda weak to be almost so blatantly colorist outside their playable characters. I don't think that making npcs dark skinned and playable characters light skinned is a good look, especially when it's the second time that that the human enemies of the region for the most part are darker skinned than the characters used to fight them

And i don't like how parts of the community jumps on people who critique genshin for this. Like, if its a non issue to you why get upset with people yk. Plus never speaking up on stuff is bad like fine, the multi billion dollar company won't listen to you, but id like to think that other people would learn from this to some degree and understand why people get upset. And idk maybe its overstepping and silly but id like to thing that outrage reaches people who can see that yea maybe there's people who Will listen to the stories you wanna tell but idk

I just don't like that people are making it okay to just be racist and colorist like, that's just gonna eventually bounce back and then great everyones seeing how mad ur getting over someone wanting a character w a skin tone darker than #FFFFFF, i cant vocalize my thoughts right tho but you get me ig

aeugh anyways on the characters specifically, the darkest skinned character in the trailer looks almost gray thats not great, and then the girls w darker skin tones [there's so few men in genshin lately] are dressed very much not at all which is a reoccurrence, sumeru dressed its darker skinned characters in not a lot clothing which like if you've ever been to a country that's hot and sunny, people don't dress in swimwear they dress in pants and sleeved shirts because hi sun damage exists and too much exposure is unhealthy and people tend to get used to the climate

Also a lot of animal themed characters this time, do correct me if I'm wrong but i kinda see an overuse in the women of color in genshin being animal themed but if im looking too much into it then uh idk maybe genshin should release a catboy

The modern theming in the outfits isn't egregious but i think too much streetwear might bog down the overall look, like latin america cultures just by themselves have amazing fashion and god id kill to see something like a dancer based on mexico's traditional dances since those are the prettiest dresses, like modernizing is fine [i believe i saw somewhere that chongyun's outfit is based on chinese streetwear and i think it fits great in with the more traditional outfits in liyue] but stuff like the hoodies around the waist and the weird half shorts half pants of one of the characters kinda weakens the overall vision [but I'm not well versed in fashion so I'm not sure what direction wouldve been best for natlan to take to both respect the fashion of the cultures inspo is taken from and also fit in with genshins vibes overall]

I need advice on picking my first snake. Price doesn't matter I have budgeted for either; both choices will also be captive bred babies and eating well before purchase.

I'm choosing between a Black African House Snake and a Rosy Boa. They need different substrates due to humidity requirements so I cant set up for either. I know you have Rosies on your beginner snake recommendations, but do you have any other opinion?

Hello hello - both are great choices, so it really just comes down to which one you think would fit your lifestyle better. The only reason African house snakes don't make my best snake list is because they can be very hard to find in some areas, so do be aware of that - you may wind up with a rosy just because they're much easier to find.

One of the biggest differences - how often do you want to see your snake? Even as adults, you should plan on a lot of rosies spending a lot of time hiding. It'll get better with age, and there are exceptions to every rule, but in general rosies like to stay hidden. House snakes are much, much more active - they're mostly active at night, but in general you'll see them out and about a lot more often. They both stay small, too - about 4 feet at the most for both, and that's with a large female - but I'd recommend a larger enclosure for an African house snake just because they are more active. A 4x2x2 enclosure is a solid minimum adult enclosure size.

They're both great choices! Have a think about which one fits your expectations better, and go from there.

YEET- Sonic OC timeee

This is Alba Gobaith (He/Him)! He is a Four-Toed Hedgehog, also known as an African Pygmy Hedgehog! (He’s roughly around the size of Classic Sonic - Modern Sonic is like- 3’3” for a bit of a clearer idea for how short this guy is XD)

He’s quite friendly if not a little shy, though Alba tries to hide his more anxious side by trying to act more cool then he actually is. (Which, spoiler alert, he isn’t very good at.) Still, he’s a decent source of advice for those who need it.

He owns a little place called the Cozy Café and while he’s pretty content with his rather peaceful lifestyle in Station Square, he secretly wants to get his own Extreme Gear and maybe join tournaments with it. However, getting one, much less the pieces needed, is actually really pricy (especially since he lives pretty far off from anywhere that sells those kind of parts so shipping is ✨ Expensive ✨) so it is a slooooow process. He’s trying his best to save up for it though!! He’s also gotten into parkour and a bit of mechanics in preparation since races tend to be quite intense and even then, it isn’t uncommon for people with Extreme Gears to be knocked around onto the ground.

His eyesight is also pretty bad, but he doesn’t like to wear glasses much; because of this, he tends to bump into things a lot and it isn’t uncommon for stuff like leaves and twigs to get caught in his quills.
