Dad!Max Verstappen x Wife!Reader (Established Relationship)
Summary: Reader tells Max that your expecting, he doesn't have the best reaction at first.
Warning(s): Slight angst, Flashback to four months before
A/N: This one is a little shorter then normal. It's set before the third social media posts of The Verstappens but takes place before Stones To Throw At My Creator.

Previous Part → Next Part Mini Verstappen Masterlist
You had suspected before you had been sure. There were no signs that you could be pregnant other than the obvious. Making the appointment was the most nerve-wracking thing. Waiting for the results was stressful, but the confirmation took a bit of the pressure off.
You stared at the sonogram pictures again before placing them back in your bag.
You heard Max coming up the stairs into the kitchen where you had been waiting for him to see the box that you had left for him.
“What’s this?” Max asked picking up the wrapped box.
“Open it,” Your eyes rested on Max to see his reaction to what was in the box.
He ripped into the wrapping paper and pulled the top off the box before seeing a little Red Bull onesie. You had taken the time to go online and order one as soon as your test results had come back from your doctor.
Max was quick to drop the box and the onesie on the kitchen counter.
“I..” Max tried to get out. His expression was too blank for your liking. “I wasn't expecting this.”
"I know that it's sooner than what we talked about." You immediately said.
"I just… didn't think that we'd have them so soon." He looked so lost.
You and Max had talked about waiting for a year or two before the possibility of trying for a baby. He had just won a fourth world title and was in pursuit of a fifth, you understood that.
Tumblr media
January 10, 2025 - Saint-Jean Cap Ferret, France
From the moment that you had woken up that morning, you had been unpacking boxes. You started in the kitchen having finished putting the last of the cups and dishes away just before Nico had come in asking about lunch.
You had made him a sandwich and taken a few bites of the leftovers from dinner yesterday because you didn’t feel like cooking after putting all of the pots and pans away.
Max had been in one of the spare bedrooms getting his racing sim all setup. It had been the last thing that had been packed and moved and unfortunately for Max, it was the last thing that was brought into the house after all of the furniture. He wasn’t happy about it sitting in the garage for a week.
After eating, you had finally gotten to the boxes that lined the built-in bookshelves that would house Max’s ever-growing collection of trophies. You were down to the last two boxes when you heard footsteps coming up the stairs from the lower part of the house.
Looking over, you saw Max come into the kitchen and take a Red Bull out of the fridge. You glanced back down at the trophy in your hands, seeing the little plaque on it, the words Spain 2016 on it.
You heard the clang of the Red Bull can against the marble of the kitchen counter.
"Mijn leeuwin?" You heard Max turning your head towards him.
His hands went to your hips pulling you back against his chest. "What are you thinking about?"
You lightly shook your head. The more that you unpacked things, you couldn't help but think of the possibility of having kids with Max. He was such a good dad to Nico, and you knew that you eventually wanted to give Max more kids.
"Tell me." He whispered into your ear. That was always his way of getting you to tell him things when you didn't feel like you could.
You turned in his arms to look at him, "What do you think about Nico eventually getting a sibling?"
“Checo and Daniel had asked me this." You hadn't realized that Max was already thinking of the possibility of you getting pregnant.
“And…” You wanted to know what Max thought about this. Sure, you would be the one to have the baby but you wanted to make sure that you were both on the same page about when would be a good time.
“And I told them that one day we would have more but not now.”
You nodded along with Max’s words. He was right, one day you would have more kids, but it didn’t make sense for it to be now. You had just moved, and the wedding was in less than a month. Any children could wait until after.
“Maybe in a year or two?” You asked.
“Maybe,” Max said before pulling the trophy from your hands and placing it on one of the empty shelves.
“For now,” He pulled you into his arms. “I want to enjoy all the free practice that I can.”
“Yeah?” You asked. He quickly nodded back as you let yourself melt into his arms.
He took your hand pulling you away from the boxes towards the master bedroom, getting a small practice session in before you had to start dinner.
Tumblr media
It seemed like life or fate, whichever one had different plans for you.
You walked closer to him pressing yourself up against his chest, trying to ground him back to you. It didn't take long for him to place his arms around your waist, his hands not traveling down to your hips like they normally would.
“What’s going on Max?” You asked. You weren’t sure why he was having this reaction. Whenever you had talked about having kids before he seemed excited. He didn’t seem that way now.
“I… I, just. I wasn’t there when Nico was born or with my ex when she was pregnant with him.”
Max had never referred to his ex as Nico’s mother. You had accepted that she was just the woman that gave birth to him. That had been easy to accept when you had found out that she had given up her parental rights to him. When you signed the adoption paperwork, something settle inside of you.
“Max,” You reached for his hand to place it on your lower abdomen. You could feel the strain in his hand, he wanted to pull away. “Max,” You started again. “You’re already a great father to Nico.”
“It’s not that. I thought that the first time that you would get pregnant I wouldn’t be driving anymore. I could be home and experience all of it this time around.” Everytime that you and Max had talked about him retiring, it had always seemed like he intended to finish his current contract with Red Bull before that happened.
“Max there is nothing stopping you from driving and us having more kids.” You offered up.
You moved your hands up to Max’s neck, pulling his head down to meet yours.
“You have done everything right by Nico since the day that he’s come into your life. Moving around your schedule so that you can be there for his first day of school, putting off an endorsement deal so that you would be there the day that he started karting.” Max finally looked down at you as you kept talking. “You have been there for all the major moments of his life, spending every moment that you can with him. Besides your not going to want to spend every moment of this pregnancy with me when I’m hormonal and get emotional for no reason.”
Max broke out in a laugh at your last sentence before he started to nod.
“You are an amazing father, this baby is going to be lucky to be raised by you.” You reached up to cup his cheek.
“Really?” He asked with baited breath.
You nodded. You could feel Max’s hands go lax under the fabric of your clothes, his fingertips just lightly tracing over the non-existent bump.
“That means no more free practice.” He muttered as he pulled away a little.
You laughed, “Free practice ended when we got back from the honeymoon.”
Max was fast on the track but it took a little longer for your body to give you those signs.
Your and Max's honeymoon had been two weeks, spending the first week in The Bahamas before flying back home and christening the new house.
Nico had spent time with Sophie, Victoria, and his cousins back in Belgium before they all flew out to see the house.
Your time alone with Max had been nice, just the two of you sleeping in before Max would go and sit on the sim for a few hours. You would eventually get up and make yourself a coffee and something that resembled breakfast before pulling him off the sim and back into bed for a while.
You hadn't been trying to get pregnant, but birth control only did so much.
“I don’t know how Nico is going to feel now that he won’t be getting all of the attention,” Max said leaning his back against the kitchen counter.
"I'm sure he'll find a way to get our attention. He is related to you after all."
“Doesn’t mean that he hasn’t picked up things from you as well.”
Nico had started picking up things that you would do, from the way that you would use certain words in a sentence, to how he would mimic you when you were doing something around the house. In those moments, you felt the most like his mother.
You couldn’t wait for this baby to be a part of such a loving family.
“You want to call your mom and Victoria and tell them, or should I?” You asked.
Max lightly groaned before dropping his head to your shoulder. You ran your fingers through his hair before feeling his head come up off your shoulder.
"Tomorrow?" He asked. You nodded back before noticing Max's eyes drop to your abdomen, his large hands not leaving your sides until Nico had come into the kitchen.

Report to the Quartermaster on MI6 employee social media accounts
Rin Rigg is online
R: Hey Q, you asked me to keep an eye on everyone’s social media accounts, so here is this week’s batch! M has an officially sanctioned Facebook account which is purposely bland and mostly composed of pictures of his grizzled old sausage dog, Pickles.
Tumblr media
Q: That is… adorable? No, wait. Please forget I ever called Mallory adorable.
R: Moneypenny loves Pinterest, because of course she does. Her boards are VERY aesthetic and filled with shoes, bags, and surprisingly a good number of DIY furniture refurbishment projects. Also, she has a wonderful collection of fashion exhibits.
Tumblr media
Q: I didn't even realize there were that many fashion museums in the world, let alone the UK.
R: Tanner has somehow been dealt the short straw of keeping up a presence on The Platform Formerly Known As Twitter and does a good job of sharing relevant public service announcements and the like.
Q: Always was a reliable, affable sort of chap, so it is rather his fault he is stuck trying to make us all look respectable... He has a lot of sunrise shots?
Tumblr media
R: Oh yeah, that is his thing. The only extra info he asks for in his mission briefings is the best place to see the sunrise.
Q: So wholesome. Makes me want to say drink.
R: 004 is on Tik-Tok. She appears to love dance videos. Also follows a number of history accounts. And she does, um, cosplay... Very, um, sexy cosplay...
Tumblr media
Q: She sews these? Do you think we can convince her to work in Textiles after she retires?
R:...
R: You really are quite gay.
Q: Quite.
R: Alright, last one. Remember I asked if we should track retired staff accounts? 007 maintains a surprisingly robust Flickr, an account that goes back over a decade. It is am impressive travelog! A Shinto shrine glowing in the late afternoon sun. A spread of colorful spices at a market. Rolling lavender fields and blooming cacti and bits of mosaic work.
Tumblr media
Q: ...
Q: Not surprising. You remember that human peacock's wardrobe. He always had a skilled eye for color and composition.
R: Oh the last few months are a lot of really artful shots of this lovely blond woman.
Q: ...
Q: ...
Q is offline.
R: Q? Q are you still there..?

Iris Apfel was finally recognised as a great, original fashion stylist in her 80s, when the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum in New York had a sudden gap in its 2005 exhibition schedule. Many curators knew Apfel, who has died aged 102, as a collector stashing away clothes, especially costume jewellery, both couture-high and street-market-low, so the institute asked to borrow some of her thousands of pieces.
When Apfel wore them herself, dozens at a time in ensembles collaged fresh daily, they had zingy pzazz, so she was invited to set up the displays. There was no publicity budget, and her name was modestly known only in the interior decor trade, yet the show, Rara Avis: Selections from the Iris Apfel Collection, became a huge success after visitors promoted it online. It toured other American museums, changing exhibits en route because Apfel wanted her stuff back so she could wear it.
Apfel’s grandfather had been a master tailor in Russia; her father, Samuel Barrel, supplied mirrors to smart decorators; her chic mother, Sadye (nee Asofsky), had a fashion shop. They lived out in rural Astoria, in the Queens borough of New York, where Iris was born.
As a child, her treat was a weekly subway trip to Manhattan to explore its shops, her favourites the junk emporia of Greenwich Village. She was short, plain and, until her teen years, plump, but she had style; and the owner of a Brooklyn department store picked her out of a crowd to tell her so. During the Depression all her family could sew, drape, glue, paint and otherwise create the look of a room, or a person, on a budget of cents – the best of educations.
She studied art history at New York University, then qualified to teach and did so briefly in Wisconsin before fleeing back to New York to work on Women’s Wear Daily. Furniture and fabrics were in short supply during and after the second world war, and Iris began to earn by sourcing antiques and textiles; if she could not find it, she could make or fake it cheaply.
In 1948 she married Carl Apfel, and they became a decorating team: he had the head for business and she the eye. Unable to find cloth appropriate to a period decor, Iris adapted a design from an old piece and had it woven in a friend’s family mill; she and Carl then set up Old World Weavers in 1952, commissioning traditional makers around the globe.
Photographs and home-movie footage from the next four decades showed Apfel, adorned with elan, haggling for one-off items in souks, flea markets and bric-a-brac shops. She is the most decorative sight in each shot, her ensembles put together with complex cadenzas atop an underlying, tailored, structure– they are like jazz – not a statement, but a conversation.
Apfel was the last of those 20th-century fashion exotics who presented themselves as installations. Although she wore a priest’s warm tunic to the White House (President Richard Nixon underheated the place), plus armfuls of cheap African bracelets and thigh-high boots, she was not an exhibitionist like the Marchesa Casati, and, with her vaudevillian comic timing, was far funnier than the imperious Vogue editor Diana Vreeland.
Also, she never ever bought full-price: her many rails and under-the-bed suitcases of couture were sale-price samples, chosen for their cut, fabric, skilled craftwork and colour dazzle (“Colour can raise the dead”). She might wear them over thrift shop pyjamas, or under a Peking Opera costume, with hawsers of necklaces atop. Money could not buy personal style, she said, prettiness withered, beauty could corrode the soul. All that really mattered was “attitude, attitude, attitude”.
Old World Weavers discreetly refurbished the White House under nine presidents, as well as grand hotels and private houses, before the Apfels sold the company in 1992. They retired to a quiet life in their apartment on Park Avenue, New York, its decor an extension of Apfel’s outfits (bad garment choices were cut up for cushions), and in a Palm Beach holiday home where the Christmas decoration collection stayed up all year round, along with cuddly toys and museum-class folk art. Clothes shopping, and the improvisation of an outfit, became Apfel’s daily ritual, as cooking might be to a gourmet.
But after the Met show, and a book, Rare Bird of Fashion (2007), Apfel was back in as much full-time employment as she could manage in her 80s and 90s (she had a hip replacement because she fell after stepping on an Oscar de la Renta gown). She was cover girl of Dazed and Confused, among many other publications, window display artist at Bergdorf Goodman, designer and design consultant – superb on eye-glasses; she wore large, owl-like, frames to stylise her aged face into a witty, unchanging, cartoon.
She took seriously her responsibilities to fashion students on her course at the University of Texas, teaching them about imagination, craft and tangible pleasures in a world of images.
Her career lasted – nothing was ever too late: in 2018, Iris Apfel: Accidental Icon, a book of memoir and sound style advice; in 2019, a contract with the model agency IMG; and last year, a beauty campaign for makeup with Ciaté London. The documentarian Albert Maysles trailed her for Iris (2014), filming this “geriatric starlet” – her term – as she dealt drolly with new high-fashion friends, or laughed at an “Iris” Halloween costume (glasses, a ton of bangles).
She watched as a storage loft of her antique treasures was listed in lots for sale, and as white-gloved assistants from museums that had begged a bequest boxed up her garments; she still had, and wore, the shoes from her wedding. All things, she said, were only on loan in this world, even to collectors. The point was to enjoy them to the full before bidding them good-bye.
Carl died in 2015.

Revenge Retail Therapy
So, I had a shithead human being who forgot their humanity for a moment, operating under a throw-away account, come to my inbox right after my post asking for us all to be kind to each other just to tell me that 1) Jimin has faked being a good singer all these years thanks to auto tune 2) Jimin is a lying queerbaiting attention whore and 3) Jimin is secretly loathed by Taekook for these obvious reasons.
Tumblr media
Now, I'm a human and an Aries and menopausal, so you best believe I needed to take a moment and find my better self before deleting that nonsense.
Tumblr media
And I confess, for a few moments it did leave me feeling pretty powerless. Frankly, all the stuff happening in the charts, with military enlistment, with online bullying, all of it left me feeling super powerless.
Tumblr media
So on my lunch break, I went to the bank and drew out some cash. To hire a hitman? No, to use my anger as a tool to manifest the world I want.
This is TMI, but, I'd been saving up to treat myself to a new sofa. I had my eye on a nice little cream-colored comfy sectional with a lounge built in. Figured it would be a nice grownup thing to get.
But also? I have three furry overlords who LOVE to scratch up and puke on the furniture and they still have a good five to ten years of life left in them. These are my three demons who took cat form:
Tumblr media
So as long as I am their slave, a brand new nice sofa is just not a realistic purchase. Better to save my money...
But then I got the idea to get revenge retail therapy. And on my lunch break today, I drove my butt to Target.
Tumblr media
I will be giving away these albums at Yoongi's concert in Newark on April 29th. Anything that doesn't get taken will be donated to my local country public library system. And HOPEFULLY these purchases will end up reflected in the charts, since they were made in person at a US retailer, using only cash, and purchased ONE AT A TIME with sheer malicious glee.
Listen. I blocked that set-up account, but, on the off chance they are lurking around my blog, I want to gently but firmly say something:
You cannot keep Park Jimin down. And you cannot MAKE us Jimin stans lower ourselves to your level.
You keep spreading hate. It only makes me love harder. Keep going. I'll make more iTunes accounts at this point. WATCH ME.
Y'all keep playing I just might take up a collection to found the Park Jimin Center for Haters Who Can't Read Good and Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too, Inc.
You'll never have the last word. Never.
Tumblr media
Kindest regards,
Roo
PS. Jimin is so loved. Jimin is so, so, SO very loved. By all his members. By true ARMY. Most of all by Jeon Jungkook. And if you liked my retail therapy, here have some more receipts about that:

Probably the best thrifting find Ive ever made, a Voice of Music Record Player Console Model 1804. Everything you see here cost me $6.50. :)
I found it at one of my favorite local thrift stores with a sign that said, 'Broken. Needle won't connect. $10!' So, I grabbed one of the records out of their bins, opened it up, and tried to figure out what was wrong with it.
After some fiddling around, I noticed the center spindle had a mechanism stopping the record from completely falling onto the platter.
I had never seen a Record Changer before, and presumably, neither had the owners of the thrift store. :)
After I knew it wasn't broken, I claimed the tag and brought it up to purchase, just to find out that all furniture is 50% off that day. :)
So, I took it home and started fiddling with the mechanics, watching videos on how to operate a record changer, how the dials worked, etc... (as I only had modern record players at home at the time.)
Then I looked online for information on replacement parts in case I ever needed them for repair, as I really wanted to make this a lifelong investment.
Luckily, there's a wonderful man running a website all about Voice of Music brand record players, and he has a list of every model made by the company! But I couldn't find much information on my model, other than it is listed as 'for Sperry & Hutchinson'.
So, I messaged the owner of the website for information on my model, and this is what he sent back to me.
Tumblr media
(Along with a manual for my model and a list of replacemt parts he offers.)
So I have a 1 of 500, sold only by one company, record console that cost 62... books?
Then I started looking in the Sperry & Hutchinson Company and what a 'book' was, exactly. They were a company that partnered with department stores, giving 'green stamps' as a reward when certain dollar amounts were spent in the dept store. You would collect these stamps and redeem them for... just about anything.
I was able to find a single S&H Green Stamps Catalog on the internet archives, unfortunately not the catalog with my record player being advertized, but still a very interesting look. They really offered everything in exchange for these stamps.
Later, I found some of these books for sale at a different antiques store.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The lady that ran the antiques store gave me a 20 min long lesson on how the books worked and how the stamps had different values, like these being 10 dollar stamps. She even had one of the dispensers for the stamps for sale, and she showed me how it worked. :)
Plus, because it was made in 1970, it is compatible with the original 78 sized records! The same shop that sold me the record player also had a bunch of 78s and a sign that said '20 records for $1', so I sifted through and found any titles I knew plus any titles that sounded fun, like this song here 'I Need Attention Bad' by Earnest Tubb. :)

📩 Simblr question of the day: You can answer one or both parts of this question! 1️⃣ Part one: If you make Story posts, what do you do for scenes? Do you build them yourself, do you download lots from the gallery or do you download them from someone online? 2️⃣ Part two: If you make Gameplay/Legacy posts, what do you do for a house? Do you build it yourself, download a home from the gallery or do you download them from someone online? Additionally, do you build onto that home or demolish it and rebuild the house when needed? (E.G When another child enters the picture or someone moves in) ❎ If you do none of those for either half, what do you do? Do you use someone else's save file? (WIndbrook by Folking, Willow Creek + Magnolia Promenade by Theneighborhoodsave, Silent Pines by Silentpinessave... etc)
( freely share this SQOTD around, anon or not, and use the hashtag " SQOTD " ~ 💛 )
*looks around sheepishly* I don't actually know if my normal "story" posts would be classed as story or gameplay or legacy... For sure I don't have to set anything up for the behind the scenes I capture, but I'll do my best to answer below for my ChangingPlumbobStorytime!
Tumblr media
Look, it's me being sheepish! Terrible joke but it's been a hard week so take up your comedy problems with my vet bill!
If you make Story posts, what do you do for scenes?
I'm thinking about more if I need a specific scene. For example when Keira and Liam got detained and had to be in jail cells... I built that in a box, just like @matchalovertrait did with her set, probably because we share a brain.
When Moonwood Mill needed a sheriff station I brainstormed and eventually decided I needed to build a rec centre with the sheriff station attached because that world has few lots and I couldn't waste a whole one on a place we will only see a handful of times (I very much hope). So I looked on the gallery for builds on the specific lot and then went in, deleted most of the decor and changed it to what I needed.
Tumblr media
Oh another sheep gif? Does it have an accompanying joke? Nope, ewe don't need one.
If you make Gameplay/Legacy posts, what do you do for a house?
A mixed bag for sure. I do not consider myself a builder, but I would like to be better, so I'm trying to challenge myself now and then.
So the Pancakes, Woods, Foster, New Goth and Nishidake Households live in renovated lots. Either these were the in game lot or a lot I pulled from the gallery. I'll keep the main shell of these ones but may change the inner walls. I'll change wallpaper/flooring to suit the sims and add furniture based on the sims favourite colours and decor styles.
The Knightstone, Chopra, Romero, Villareal and York households live on lots I built. They were all built from necessity. I needed space for collections, or chickens, or other units, or a modern mansion or an Italian style build from my mind.
Tumblr media
Another gif! Don't be a-lamb-ed!
Additionally, do you build onto that home or demolish it and rebuild the house when needed?
As you may have guessed from the above answers, I renovate. However some of the homes I built I have built with space for kids etc. I've found if I add on to the house as I go by extending things it rarely looks nice. So if I needed more rooms than I have I would consider adding a floor, doing a pull down rebuild or shifting to a new lot.

Vesper's Online Guide to Pokemon Care: Sandshrew
Alright, I said I would cover it, so I think it's about time. Since we've been taking care of one lately, here's some tips for properly caring for Sandshrew, one of the cutest little ground types I have the pleasure of working with! Sandshrew Sandshrew are adorable little Pokemon who can be loyal and fierce companions if cared for properly. But, they can also be kind of tricky to care for, especially if you’re not used to caring for Ground-types.
Sandshrew have tough, dry hides that help protect their softer white underbellies, and can curl up into a ball to protect themselves from attackers, or from great heights. It makes them bounce! Like a basketball! However, these hides can become wrinkly if exposed to too much water, and like most Ground-types, Sandshrew are used to dry, arid climates. Don’t let your Sandshrew get too wet, and keep an eye out for cold, humid nights. Whatever you do, if your Sandshrew gets dirty, don’t try to bathe it in water. Not only is it bad for their hides, but Sandshrews really don’t like water. Instead, give your Sandshrew a sand bath! They’ll roll around in the stuff, which will help collect and remove the dirt and moisture from their hides. If they get too wet, make sure to have a reliable, hot source of warmth nearby for them to dry themselves out. Wild Sandshrew use the geothermal heat from volcanoes, but a space heater, fireplace, or a hot enough Fire-type Pokemon should suffice just fine. Keep in mind that when threatened, Sandshrew may throw sand and dirt at its attackers. Be prepared to have to clean up every now and then if your Sandshrew gets fussy. Keep a broom at close hand. Remember also that Sandshrew are small pokemon that can be kind of defensive, so try not to spook them if you don't want sand thrown at you. Just be patient and gentle with them! When they sleep, Sandshrew usually burrow into the desert sands. If you keep your Sandshrew outside of its Pokeball during resting periods, make sure to have a pretty large sand pit or something for them to burrow in. It helps them feel safe, secure, and comfortable, as well as keeping them dry. Lots of Ground types in general burrow, so you want to have a deep enough source of dirt or sand for them to engage in those natural behaviors. There's a possibility they may try to tuck away into your shirts or jackets if they trust you enough (just ask @dustytodusty-pkmn ) . If they do try to burrow into your clothes or blankets while you're asleep, your Sandshrew really trusts you, and you can bond with your Sandshrew by allowing them to do so. Also, make sure to take good care of your Sandshrew's claws. They're extremely durable, and usually used for removing rocks, but they're not indestructible. Keep an eye on their claws, and make sure to have something they can scratch to keep their claws sharp and pristine. If it starts scratching up your furniture, its claws likely aren't getting the proper care they need. Their primary diet is bugs and berries, and they tend to especially like it when the berries have been cut up into smaller pieces (Sandslash often use their claws to slash up berries or cut berries from trees for Sandshrew in the wild). Generally speaking, you may not want to raise Bug-Type pokemon alongside Sandshrew unless your Sandshrew is especially well-trained. If your Sandshrew digs a nest in your yard, it's best to just leave it. Sandshrew in the wild spend much of their lives underground in burrows and nests, and having a place to hide away underground is often a comfort for them. if you don't want them digging in your yard, provide them a deep sand pit to dig and clean off in. Sandshrew are ambush predators, so it's highly likely your Sandshrew may leap out at you from its burrow or another hiding space unexpectedly. They may also do this if they feel their burrow is threatened, so tread with caution when walking around it! When properly cared for, Sandshrew are extremely loyal and caring, and bond easily with their trainer. They can be playful and even cuddly, as long as you take proper care of them!

closed starter for @thephoebeyates setting: their apartment building in cardinal hill, the day before micah joins his father in connecticut for the weekend!
with only just a few weeks to go before the month ends, micah has started cleaning out his room, slowly ridding cardinal hill of any evidence that he's ever set foot in this town. already there's a pile sitting by his bedroom window, of books and records and trinkets he'd collected from thrift stores and flea markets over the summer, not just in blue harbor in neighboring cities and towns as well.
he'd already given ruairi first dibs on stuff he'd like to have before he sells the others online or puts up postings on the bulletin board downstairs. then he thinks about phoebe. she's an acquaintance at best and they certainly have more of a relationship than micah has with the rest of the building and figures maybe it would be fair if, after ruairi, he gives her second dibs.
so he marches over to her door with a large cardboard box containing his thrift store finds that he has no desire to take with him to new york, or wherever he ends up after blue harbor. he hopes he remembers her apartment number correctly, having only been there to help haul some of foster's furniture upstairs when the couple moved in as he happened to be at the lobby at the same time they'd brought his stuff over, though he never crossed the threshold, not wanting to intrude on their personal space.
even now, he feels a little weird doing this, unsure of how phoebe will react to this sudden gesture. hearing a set of footsteps behind the door, he tries to compose himself, looking up at the peephole where he knows he's being watched as he squares his shoulders.
"hi." he gives phoebe a little wave when she opens the door. "i'm, uh... doing a little general cleaning for when i move out and, um... i was wondering if you might be interested in any of these before i give 'em away." he gestures to the box sitting at his feet, giving the bottom a tiny kick. "it's mostly books and, uh, records if you're into that. there's other stuff in there, too. didn't realize i hoarded so much over the summer, heh."

Hello, I do not feel comfortable sending anon hate unfortunately but I do stand in sympathy with you and with your fingernails, and yeah Amazon had better renew good omens.
If I would send anon hate to anyone it would be Amazon. Not like the people who would actually end up reading it though, sadly. Like to Directors and above. Like with strong suggestions to use their massive impact on the world to maybe not be awful.
I totally agree with you about their bookshop, and I also love your blog! I am generally incapable of vocalizing online, but I appreciate your stream of thoughts. Good Omens is such fun to be obsessed with! (Usually)
As a distraction: what is your favorite historical shoe?
you're too sweet!! 🌸🌸 and yes, I love the idea of sending them letters, but I fear it won't do much. mailing poop to their offices might work, tho
i can't think of a favourite historical shoe unfortunately :C
but I'm gonna tell a little story about shoes
when I was around 6/7 years old, my dad came home one evening with a new pair of elegant shoes he had bought on his business trip. my mom was complimenting him on his taste (rare), and I was looking at those shiny black shoes like they were little treasures. and, I mean, I think they were pretty expensive, so they probably were.
I was in the mood for a little prank. so, the moment my parents left the room to go take dirty clothes out of my dad's baggage, I just... picked up the shoes and ran in the kitchen. I pulled a kitchen plinth hard enough to tear it out of its column, and hid the shoes under the kitchen cabinet. I pushed the kitchen plinth back into its original position.
I think my dad thought my mom had put away the shoes, and vice versa. no one questioned where they had gone. my plan was to just let the shoes stay there for a couple of days at best.
well, its safe to say I think I got distracted.
6ish years later me and my parents are talking about the renovations we were gonna do to the kitchen. they were talking about how we were gonna get rid of all the furniture and get new ones, and my mom said something like "I don't even want to think about the dust that has collected under these things"
and I had a flashback to that moment, 6 years prior, of me hiding my dad's shoes.
so I just walk to the cabinet and kneel in front of it. I forcefully pull the plinth towards me. "what are you doing?" parents ask. "don't look under there, there might be spiders!"
I pull out the pair of shoes all of us had completely forgot about. you can just imagine the confusion on my parents' faces. "where do these come from?" he asks. "you bought them 6 or 5 years ago, I just wanted to prank you but I forgot and you forgot too" i say.
they're deadass staring at me like
Tumblr media
and then they're laughing, incredulous, and can't understand why or where or when but mostly WHY and in the end my dad says "oh well I did need a new pair of shoes"
they were in fact full of cobwebs tho

Photography: Yui Zhang Creating a cultural destination with mise-en-scène. Nowadays, everyone watches movies online, how could physical cinemas stay relevant and attractive for the cinephiles? That was the design challenge for our first cinema project for MOViE MOViE at the Taikoo Li Qiantan, a mixed-use development recently completed in Shanghai. We started off asking what is the cinema experience? It is a moment of escape, an internal journey, or an expedition to another world.
