I wonder if there's a way to take topography into account?
Because there are hella mountains that would make the western network more difficult, and likewise part of the eastern network is in Appalachia.

Slime mold was grown on an agar gel plate shaped like America and food sources were placed where America’s large cities are.
The result? A possible look at how to best build public transportation.
I just really like the idea of slime mold on a map of the US. It’s beautiful.

Beta intelligence military esque
Alice in wonderland
Alters, files, jpegs, bugs, closed systems, open networks
brain chip with memory / data
Infomation processing updates and reboots
'Uploading' / installing / creating a system of information that can behave as a central infomation processing unit accessible to large portions of the consciousness. Necessarily in order to function as so with sufficient data. The unit is bugged with instructions, "error correction", regarding infomation processing.
It can also behave like a guardian between sensory and extra physical experience.
"Was very buggy at first". Has potential to casues unwanted glitches or leaks, unpredictability and could malfunction entirely, especially during the initial accessing / updating. I think the large amount of information being synthesized can reroute experiences, motivations, feelings and knowledge to other areas of consciousness, which can cause a domino effect of "disobedience", and or reprogramming.
I think this volatility is most pronounced during the initial stages of operation because the error correcting and rerouting sequences have not been 'perfected' yet and are in their least effective states, trail and error learning as it operates, graded by whatever instructions or result seeking input that called for the "error correction".
I read the ask about programming people like a computer. Whoever wrote that is not alone. Walter Pitts and Warren McCulloch, do you have anymore information about them and what they did to people?
Here is some information for you. Walter Pitts and Warren McCulloch weren't directly involved in the programming of individuals. Their work was dual-use.

I like to think that post with the red stuff growing is just an industrial accident from the future, maybe cultured meat or biological computer servers
anon you don't even know how correct you are. we are psychically linked

Patty Parallelization: Running Multiple Codes At Once
This may seem like a big, incoherent image-dump, but I promise it has connections to another piece of work. In short: The name Patty/Patrick was such a choice.
A second program, Patrix/Patricia, is a global management and data accessing system:

you ever get the uncontrollable urge to pursue a creative project because you got one (1) piece of information that you haven't been able to stop thinking about
#anyways. just got told that scientists are considering the use of fungi in computers#specifically for neural networks#and I thought of the humongous fungus and whatnot#and that also reminded me of pando and how I've been thinking passively about trees in horror or something#idk they just feel a bit eldritch to me. great things that I have respect for. it's the way they sway in the wind I think#anyways just like. I don't know. sci-fi horror using semi-biological computers sounds so interesting to me as a concept#and I've always wanted to do a podcast or write something or something y'know#anyways. don't know what or how I'd do something with it but I've just been rotating the thought#frost talks

Close to my grandma's age when she had my dad literally wtf
#*p#She gave him up for adoption good for her#Side note she is my favorite grandparent#Been thinking abt it a little more recently as I'm staying with her rn#Also rlly been thinking about how my grandma is losing her memory and whatnot but she is still just as kind and enjoyable as before#But when this happened to my (non biological) grandfather he was so fucking nasty. Hmm okay rant incoming once again just need somewhere to#Is been resting inside me for years and I think maybe I should just get it out finally so like don't read. I mean you can if you want but..#recently I realized that he hit my dad when he was a kid and so now I hate him hate him#My mom's always hated him too because of the way he treated my dad's sister versus him#She's so spoiled god#Once my mom told me how they both came to the airport and when my dad arrived he didn't even get up but when she arrived he got up#Before she even was there and greeted her with open arms like hmm okay#And the his computer screen savers was just a sideshow and ofc most if not all of them were her and not one was my dad#Back to the she's so spoiled comment she literally just took whatever she wanted when she came to my grandparents house#I'm not even kidding it was even their cars#Oh she took all of my dad's legos without a word to him. He wanted to give them to my sister so he went to find them and they just weren't#Like you couldnt have even asked ??Think she took his chess set too maybe. Yk lots of things like that#And this is kind of why I was born now that I think about it#My mom felt that my dad didn't have anything of his own so she wanted him to have a kid. Like she wouldn't have had a child if she didn't#Think that#Why did she tell me this anyway#I dint mind but I think lots of parents would not tell their kids that#But yk there are some things she could keep to herself. Like did I need to know where and after what meal I was conceived. No not really.#Wait no I'm literally in the exact room right now aren't I....#How did I get here in my rambling damn it I did not need to think about that

do u have any more infected hc *grabby hands*
YES I DO but not rly any more specific special infected ones i just have more general ones sorry :( but i am a firm believer that the special infected are like one big group together. almost like a family. that one post i made abt the tank being in the elevator to get smores supplies for the special infected campfire? yeah stuff like that. they hang out like buddies when there’s no survivors around. a smoker might use its tongue to let a jockey swing around on it like rope. a charger might race a hunter and see who can travel the farthest in one charge or pounce just for fun. a tank throws a hunter just to see if it’ll land on its feet or do some stunt like bounce off a wall. this is very much inspired by IsisMashiro’s left 4 dead work on deviantart i just love how they portray the special infected’s dynamics and make them interact with each other and the survivors. ik it doesnt rly make sense cause of how animalistic and violent they behave in game but i just think it’s fun to think about the infected being silly and having fun together.
i also think that some special infected might be more inclined to working solo to take down/weaken survivors as opposed to working with other specials. depends on the person and how the green flu has affected them.
i also believe that infected(common/uncommon/special) may engage in old habits or hobbies they may have had prior to being infected. i just think that there may be some part of their infected mind that recognizes such a thing and lets them act on it as a soothing thing. would that be considered coping mechanisms for them. maybe idk. a spitter was a guitar player before being infected? she might be found playing one to the best of her abilities[given the acid and such] as something to soothe her, and other infected that enjoy music may be drawn to the sound and behave more calmly. hunters might be seen doing parkour stunts for fun or playing chasing games with other hunters since that was likely what they did before infection. some infected might draw shapes in mud, dirt, sand—or even with bile or blood—if they were artsy before infection. just doing things like that that are familiar to them
#if that link doesnt work i’ll be so sad i dont have computer access rn#sorry if this isnt what u were looking for but i dont rly have many other specific special hcs :( other than thinking about how i did the-#-hunter + smoker. like their physiology affects their green flu mutation like some smokers have longer thinner tongues or shorter thicker-#-tongues. those same beliefs apply to all specials to me and both benefits and harms them. yknow#SORRY IF THIS DOESNT MAKE SENSE RGRHGJSJG im 😁 ya#i feel like a lot of my hcs have to do with biological wiring and yknow. fine w me i lurve thinking about thigns like that 😁#transmission received#foxfireartz

This is extremely interesting:
Computational capacity of life in relation to the universe
Kurian (2025)
The paper highlights the efficient and substantial computational capacities of biological systems, especially in comparison to current quantum computing capabilities. It also estimates when quantum computers might reach a level of computational capacity comparable to that of the universe itself. The researchers link how life processes information to the fundamental physical laws that govern the universe, at both cosmological and Planck scales.
I've been following developments in research on quantum effects in the brain. The concept discussed in this paper that interests me the most is the observed superradiance in networks of aromatic amino acids, such as tryptophan, and how this might facilitate coherence despite substantial thermal noise.
The information presented has significant implications for advancing quantum computing through the application of biological qubit architectures. I'm excited to see how research into quantum effects in neuronal function may illuminate (pun intended) our understanding of learning and memory, as well as the potential for developing diagnostics and therapeutics for neurological disorders.
#(the paper delves into a lot more than what i'm summarizing here)#biological systems#neurobiology#superradiance#quantum computing#quantum biology#biology#physics#computer science#artificial intelligence#fluorescence#quantum effects#consciousness#evolutionary biology#🤞 someone on Tumblr is interested in the mechanisms of consciousness and stumbles onto my blog

i think ive made longer posts but tldr plot of robot au is ascelpius buys a trash planet to host servers w a fuck ton of medical knowledge and staff is a collection of security personnel and people who Literally crash there. essentially.
#skeletxt#been playing w the idea of asclepius being very knowledgeable abt the pseudo biological parts of robots while takasugi only knows the#mechanical. and the two have to lean on each other a bit when archiving knowledge or helping someone out who has something really weird#wrong w them.#theres also the whole idea of like. getting a computer virus. which is a whole other dimension that would effect software. unsure of who to#make an expert in that. but in the past ive made it douman because i think it would be hilarious.

Australian startup Cortical Labs unveils 'world’s first' commercial biological computer
Biological computing startup Cortical Labs has launched CL1, what it is calling the world’s first commercial biological computer. The technology combines “lab-cultivated neurons from human stem cells” with silicon to create what the company says is a “more advanced and sustainable form of AI,” a neural network dubbed Synthetic Biological Intelligence (SBI). According to Australia-based Cortical…

Of course they don't want these things to develop consciousness. But I do wonder if intelligence is bound up with constructs of self and surroundings, even very basic ones. Without a sensory point of reference in time and space, a sense of location, whether or not there's a conscious "I", can any kind of construct, inorganic or organic, develop the conceptual framework that would enable reasoning? Can there be a concept of "that there" without a "this here"? Maybe the dish brains will tell us.
