For anyone in the Austin area....heads up. He's former military...JSOC who is now an activist for Palestine and has spoken at large rallies before...lots of connections to various organizations so this cryptic post of his is legit. Is a flash mob/pop up protest a thing now?
Depending on which side you're on I guess either get ready or lay low ❤️💚🖤
Shamrocks for Palestine
Ireland marches once again in solidarity with Palestine.
As Irish politicians from the largest political parties travel to the White House to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with Joe Biden, protesters from across Northern Ireland gathered to march to the US Consulate in Belfast, calling for a White House boycott and an immediate ceasefire.
When a Councillor from Sinn Féin took the stage she was subjected to intense booing from the crowd throughout her speech for the party's decision to go to the White House with the right wing political parties.

you can be both pro-Israel and pro-Palestine, just sayin'
edit:
fucking read the tags before you reblog a Hamas apologist saying "you can't be both pro the oppressor and pro the oppressed". I'm talking about the countries, not their governments.
Tumblr runs on US america rules: laws and guidelines are written so everyone is breaking them at all times. These rules are then selectively enforced as social punishment and control
Mati Diop (Atlantics) just won the Golden Bear at Berlin and shouted “I stand with Palestine!” as she accepted her award. Her film deals with the returning of plundered royal treasures from the African Kingdom of Dahomey from Paris to the present day Republic of Benin.
like i said before, i don't mess with shaun king like that, but that being said, many things about one thing can be true at the same time. it is very clear that there is a wave of censorship happening across social media against pro-palestinian content in favor of israeli propaganda. so whether or not you like shaun or not, it is very clear what is happening and why. there is clearly a genocide happening in gaza that is being perpetuated by colonizing power. a genocide against an indigenous population for land, resources, and power. basically the same thing america did to the natives here. had it not been for people like shaun king (flawed as he may be), many people would not be aware of the heinous acts of israel against the palestinian people right now. so even as someone who is not a shaun king fan, i am not so myopic in my view of things to not realize that he served a positive purpose when it comes to the israeli genocide of palestinians.
on a much larger scale, whenever a platform or a power attacks someone popular, one of the goals is to send a message to everyone else that they are not safe and that they should back off. it's like a football coach picking on and cursing out their hall of fame quarterback. when everyone else who isn't as popular or powerful sees that on the team, they immediately realize that they must fall in line or worse can happen to them. that's the goal of banning shaun king from ig. however as a black man who understands how connected all oppressive systems are, we cannot slow down. may i remind all my brothers and sisters that israel is where police forces like the nypd go and train in abusive violent tactics, which they then come back to america and overwhelmingly exercise on black and brown bodies. so if you think this does not affect you, you are sadly and deeply mistaken. additionally, this kind of censorship is going to spread. if we don't fight back, it won't be long before you will be arrested for speaking out against israel. this is what israel wants, and they have the money and political power to make it happen. you can either sit back and let it happen or you can fight back. however, make no mistake, it's coming, and this is the first major blow that the enemy has struck in their offensive against our free speech.
I bought a Keffiyeh so I can identify myself as a supporter of Palestinians offline, and also because I wanted to support a Palestinian owned business. Unfortunately Hirbawi has not had any in stock since October according to Reddit which is understandable considering the circumstances. I was pointed towards HandMadePalestine instead which utilizes partners in the states to keep business flowing outside of Palestine. Profits go towards planting trees in Palestine and towards supporting Palestinian artisans.
The Kieffyeh I received is absolutely gorgeous and soft and light and seems to have been lightly perfumed as well. I was hoping to use it to keep the sun off during field work but now I don't want to get it dirty.
The store has so many other items as well such as dates, perfumes, jewelry, bags, sculptures, and more! Shipping only took about 3 days if that's important to you.
“Learning more from our cultural consultant Dr. Aomar Boum about the cultural traditions of the Amazigh people in North Africa, including their history of braiding and ornamenting long hair, inspired me to explore a box braids hairstyle for Asha.” -Bill Schwab
So y’all choose to showcase all this “research” by:
1) Ended up not giving Asha any hair ornaments, and a chance to give her a unique and distinct design that helps best represent her culture
2) Choosing micro “box braids” of all afro-based hairstyles to give to Asha, despite the fact that box braids wouldn’t even look like whatever y’all gave Asha. For one thing that particular style takes a lot of time and a lot of hair and a lot of work, all of which Asha would not have, nor do I think that’s even her character. It’s also not a common hairstyle people from North Africa would wear at this time. If they did it’s usually in 2-10 braids
3) Design said box braids in the movie in a way where it’s hard to tell whether they are braids or twists, and honestly I think they do a bit of both. Doesn't help their animation makes everything look muddy, so you really have a hard time telling. And no it's not because of poor YouTube quality, we've seen Disney provide us official screenshots from the movie, it just looks that bad. One side of her hair aren't even box braids, they are clearly cornrows. Not that we don't mix box braids and cornrows into our hair sometimes, but it's obvious yall just didn't care to make the distinction. Here's a hint to recognize box braids: they are parted in "box" sections
4)Making it seem like black hair is stiff and lifeless despite all the movement Asha be doing. There are plenty of references of black girls dancing with their braids yknow, moving. They couldn’t look at any references?
“It’s a fantasy it’s not meant to be accurate” ok then don’t bother consulting with anthropologists on this subject then. Don’t boast how much “research” you guys do only to show that’s not the case and you don’t even listen to the experts. Not that listening to one person is enough. You’re representing a group of people that hardly gets media coverage other than “bad desert brown person”. But I guess that's fitting Disney shows how little they care looking st the genocides they supporting
This is the shoddiest piece of "journalism" I have ever seen. @usatoday
Examples (emphasis mine):
"Explosions were heard in Iran after Israel launched missile strikes in retaliation for a barrage of more than 300 drones and missiles fired by Tehran over the weekend..."
"It was unclear what targets had been hit inside Iran. Iran's weekend swarm of munitions and Israel's response marked the first direct exchanges of fire between the regional arch-enemies."
"Israel, the U.S. and other regional and Western allies joined forces on Saturday to blast hundreds of Iranian drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles out of the sky after they were fired at Israel."
"That attack was itself an act of retaliation after Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khameni, blamed Israel for an airstrike on the Iranian embassy compound in Damascus, Syria, that killed several people including a leading Revolutionary Guards commander."
"Officials have been on edge about the possibility of a regional war since the Palestinian militant group Hamas rampaged across southern Israel on Oct. 7, killing 1,200 and taking more than 200 people hostage. More than 30,000 Palestinians have died in the ensuing six months in Israeli airstrikes and ground fire, according to the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry."
Language -- and how you use it -- matters, dammit.
It matters what words you use to describe an action. The word you choose tells the reader context clues about what is an acceptable action and what is not. It influences viewpoints about what you are reporting on. Using words and phrases like "barrage" and "swarm of munitions" while painting Israel's actions as a simple "response" without context is a gross manipulation tactic.
It is a gross manipulation tactic to paint the actions of "Israel, the U.S. and other regional and Western allies" as this heroic and epic fantasy where they "joined forces" and "blasted" enemy fire "out of the sky" after they were "fired at Israel." Why did they fire at Israel? Go on, you reported on it. Despite the fact that this linked article features the same shameful use of deliberate word choices to manipulate your readers, you even quoted the Iranian ambassador Hossein Akbari saying that the Iranian response would be "the same magnitude and harshness." Is that not what the terrible "barrage" of missiles and drones fired over the weekend was? Surely, you will bring this up in the article.
"The attack was itself an act of retaliation..." Great, we are going to mention that Israel attacked Iran first. "... after Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khameni, blamed Israel for an airstrike on the Iranian embassy compound in Damascus, Syria." What the fuck. Not only do you then continue on to diminish the lives lost in that airstrike using word choices like "killed several people" and then highlighting one's military connections. It is a blatant manipulation tactic to frame Israel's attack as retaliatory due to an accusation of violence that only "killed several people." Fuck you for diminishing the lives of those in the Middle East living this fucking war/nightmare. Fuck you.
And then, to add insult to injury, you use more inflammatory language to associate Palestinians with a "militant group" called Hamas that "rampaged across southern Israel on Oct. 7." Is Hamas a part of local authority in Gaza? Yes. But painting Palestinians in broad brush strokes with that tone and word association is extremely dangerous and damaging. It's almost similar to how Israeli propaganda speaks about Palestinians...
You then discredit any reporting about the "self defense" that Israel has visited on Gaza and Palestine in the 6 months since October. You do this by stating that the shocking idea of "30,000 Palestinian deaths" (which has already been reported on by far more reputable news sources... though they have their own faults) is the reported deaths by the "Hamas-run Gaza health ministry." Since you have already done the job of describing Hamas as a "militant group" that "rampages" across Israel, do you think that associating the most reliable death count with the "enemy" isn't a disgusting manipulation tactic that belittles and diminishes the very real genocide happening against the Palestinians? Caused by their occupier, Israel?
You aren't news or journalism like you frame yourself to be through your website layout, articles, and tv shows. You are propaganda, bought and paid for by the Israeli occupation. You are on the wrong side of history.
I hope that you and the Western media that have used similar tactics are used in future journalism classes at universities and colleges around the world. I hope you are used as an example of terrible, bad reporting informed only by biases and internal memos telling you what to say. I am disgusted.
girl help the content about palestine on tiktok is turning from actual journalism content and educational resources and organized ways to help to "boycott everything or you're a bad person and if you don't use a game filter that generates 0.00001 cent you're personally the problem"
Hmm I believe I remember learning a few years ago that when one is asked to acknowledge that they’re impacted subconsciously by systemic racism/sexism/homophobia etc, or is told that they’re behaving in a way that’s bigoted/harmful, “no I’m not” is the wrong answer. So I think some of you should get less excited about saying that when Jewish people tell you you’re being antisemitic.
