What I’m Reading April-June

Sorry for the long delay, I’ve really been lacking the motivation these past few months - but I am still reading fic! Here’s what I’ve been reading lately:

1. We’ll Be Seamless (dinosaursmate) - Louis spends all his spare time scrolling arty nude blogs on Tumblr but amongst them all, Green is his favourite.

2. Responsible Forever for What You Have Tamed (leighbot) - Harry runs away to escape his past and Louis has nowhere else to go to have a future.

3. Just Lay with Me (givemesumaurgravy) - Louis is the coach of Harry’s daughter’s football team and Harry likes Louis’ bum. One day there’s a parent football game and Louis, just maybe, starts hitting on Harry and, just maybe, Harry gives in.

4. For Better, Worse, and Mischief (I’m All Yours) (redorchid) - The One Direction PR management team decides that Harry needs to get married. Harry doesn't want to. Louis comes up with the perfect solution to the problem.

5. I’d Burn This City Down to Show You the Light (you_explode) - Harry’s a sheltered rich kid and Louis’ a punk with a heart of gold. They meet when Louis breaks into Harry’s house, Harry obtains an instant and all-encompassing crush, and they spend the summer falling into a whirlwind romance.

6. Hold My Breath (zarah5) - It's possible — possible — that his three-week ban from the football pitch makes Louis just a tad antsy. Surely it's not so bad that it warrants punishment in the form of his friends signing him up for a yoga class? Say, a private photo session? Yes, please? Good thing that Harry has ten days and three beautiful locations -- Morocco, Indonesia and the Swiss Alps -- to make Louis see just how good they could be.

15. Three French Hems (100percentsassy, gloria_andrews) - In which Louis is a designer at Burberry and Harry spends December wearing Lanvin… and Lanvin… and Lanvin.

4. A Perfect Reason (chelsea frew) - During a visit to a charity he'd like to support, Prince Louis--next in line to the throne of the United Kingdom--meets Harry, the man of his dreams. Trouble is, Louis is not out, and the law says his heirs can only be born of a woman. Louis is determined not to let that stop his pursuit of Harry. 9. Stuck in the Middle with You (green_feelings) - When Harry starts university, he finally gets to spend every day with Louis again. They have been friends since forever, and would do anything for each other. Given that, Harry doesn't hesitate to pose as Louis' boyfriend once he finds out that his new roommate is no other than Louis' crush.

10. ZIAM I Breathe You in, but Honey I Don’t Know (sweetdisaster) - Liam's a new solo artist who's had a crush on Zayn for ages and Zayn's in One Direction and doesn't think it's a good idea.

Plenty of omegas saw this as their duty, especially if their families weren’t well off. Worse, Louis couldn’t honestly say he’d never thought about it.

If that had been his life, his goal, Louis would feel pretty good about himself now.

every universe but ours by @28finelines (E, 50K) How this fic doesn’t even have 3K hits is beyond me. It’s so touching and funny and sexy and I read it all in one go––thankfully just before I published this post! Please go read it because it’s like reading multiple Larry fics in one, each one with that “I would find you in any lifetime” vibe.

Things Unsaid by LadyLondonderry / @londonfoginacup (GA, 4K) This is so sweet and cute, I actually laughed out loud a couple of times. Louis’ internal monologue is neurotic and funny and this is such a fun twist on soulmates.

a fire in us by @hereforlou (E, 12K) I love this sweet, lighthearted fic. Louis is penpals with an idealistic and romantic Harry. The soulmate time stamp is a clever twist that adds to the tension. The fic has been deleted, link is to a download

I Won’t Let You Forget by graceling_in_a_suit / @graceling-in-a-suit (T, 7K) This was just beautiful. I love the writing in this one. It’s one of those fics that has that kind of melancholic, dreamy feel to it that I really enjoy. Plus, it has a “no matter what, I would find you in any lifetime” vibe and a time travel twist. So good. 

Veni, Vidi, Amavi by @fallinglikethis (E, 10K) Past lives soulmates! I read this one a few years ago and can’t recall details but my notes say “Sexy and emotional. I cried”. Lol at me crying over everything. But I do like this author, in general, and this is next on my to re-read list!

i’ll take your pain by @suspendrs (NR, 2K) Really short, but quirky and funny. 

Destined For More by karamelised (E, 77K) Whoo boy, there’s a lot in this OT5 polyamory soul bond fic – it’s just fun and smutty and unique. A good time had by ALL.

wishing you were them by momentofclarity / @gaycousinlarry (T, 20K) This is such a lovely fic. This author really does a great job of describing deep depression and a bond beyond what anyone else can understand. Harry is quirky. Liam & Niall are good friends. beautiful writing. Alien/human soulmates!

Make Your Words A Weapon by @helloamhere (E, 36K) I love everything this author writes. This one just really hit me hard for whatever reason. Maybe it’s the way they explore Louis’ anxiety and coping mechanisms and pain and the way he pushes people away and protects himself, but also wants someone to push back just a bit and love him despite all of that. And the way Harry is the perfect foil for all of it, while also feeling like a fully developed character himself. Yeah, it’s probably all of that. Plus soul marks!

Nameless Nights by green_feelings / @greenfeelings (E, 156K) I apologize for not having details here, but (again) I read it so long ago. However, this author has written some fandom classics and they know how to weave a story!

Cupid’s Chokehold by bluelemur (E, 35K) Ok…this is another I read a really long time ago and my only notes were about the smut (sorry 🙈), so I can’t guarantee you anything BUT….I liked it a lot at one point. LOL! And I love the idea of a Cupid trying to match supposed soulmates, but falling for one of them instead. 

This next bunch are on my “to read” list, but they were all recommended by @cuethetommo who tends to share a brain with me when it comes to fic, so…

Won’t You Wear My Watermark by @bottomlinsons (E, 90K) 

The new Earl of Harrisson is a young man, an impulsive romantic, forced to shoulder too much responsibility far too soon. He is also Louis’ soulmate, but there’s nothing to be done about that. At least, as far as Louis is concerned.

The Earl, it seems, will take some convincing.

(A slow burn Regency AU featuring secrets, seduction and, our favourite, soulmarks.)

You Got Time by bandshirtedboybanders (E, 62K) 

The thing is, Louis wasn’t meant to exist without Aaron. They’d grown up together and into each other. Forged together by pain and trials they were too young to deal with. Forged by love too of course, an absolute fuckton of the stuff. Melded together until they were two halves of a whole. Now, Louis just feels like half a person.

Or, the one where Louis’ pretty sure he’s already loved and lost his soulmate, and then he meets Harry.

Like Real People Do by moodlighting (M, 59K) 

The summer is an engram of particular moments now, hazy episodes that play behind Harry’s eyes as he drifts off to sleep with an arm holding him close. All of those days of summer will blur together soon, but Harry will always remember them in his senses.
