Charlie "Nephew of the Top Ranked Demon Slayer" Dompler is forced into the field, right after his uncle becomes missing. Before he accepted the recruitment of a certain Mr. Boss, he tested his summoning and banishing skills... in his own home. All ingredients are improv'd, incantations are definitely butchered and the only thing he is 100% sure of is the runes and the ritual circle (he have done it time and time again since he was young after all).
Sure, he had seen demons firsthand before so to see one is not surprising if the ritual succeed, but you see, he never summoned one himself. He fully believes he'd just end up empty-handed and give up his dreams and live like a normal critter. So to see one, right in the middle of his room, he can't help but stagger-
Tumblr media
When Pim phrases it that way, Charlie can't help but be deeply flustered and unsettled help him-
Tumblr media
This dumbass doesn't know how to banish the demon and now Pim is binded to him. That's alright since Pim actually yearns to live a mortal life. Hell, he's even keen to show Charlie the ropes on how to be a proper demon hunter... of course, with a few cheeky tricks and pranks here and there haha.

Allan sure does love his coffee in the mortal realm. Angels are not allowed to have coffee in heavennnn. It's because of the caffeineeee-uh

This Master Chef event certainly made some choices with the chef/judge combos.
Floyd grinning like a full a he seems out some barely editable crap. Said crap landing in front of Jade who makes a face like, 'wtf, you expect me to eat this?' Floyd on the side lines, fully enjoying the situation.
Also, is Sebek and Malleus the most fortunate or unfortunate combo? He gets to serve food to his beloved Waka-sama but... it will be forever until it is editable. But! But! Then he'll make some 100% masterpieces and get the praise of his idol! Let's... not think of the end of the event where we are burning ingredients for the 3 coins and thaumarks... Poor Malleus, first he endures Lilia's cooking and now this... 😢
I love master chef!!!!! :D it's so fun to see how all of the characters cook and if any of them can cook (or at least follow instructions and recipes). Floyd and Sebek is just as chaotic a duo as Jade and Lilia.
It's peak sibling silliness with judge Jade and chef Floyd. T_T Floyd notes how Jade started giving his critique on the dish after he finished eating it LOL. That is such a sibling thing to do. I just know Floyd wanted to wipe that smile off his brother's face after having to listen to all of the little details Jade nitpicked. Some of them were probably just for the sake of messing with Floyd. He probably told him something like: "This could use more mushrooms" when there aren't any mushrooms in it to begin with. Floyd is one more unnecessary comment away from punching Jade to get him to be quiet. Someone step in between them before they start bickering over the food. >_<
Omg and chef Sebek and judge Malleus.... truthfully, I think Sebek is the lesser of two evils in this case because he would genuinely try his very hardest to make an edible and delicious dish for waka-sama! He'd never be able to live with the shame and humiliation if he cooked a dish that wasn't up to his liege's standards. :( that, and I think it's not that hard to surpass Lilia at cooking. Sebek could butter bread and already he's leagues better than Lilia. ^^;;;; with Lilia, the "buttered bread" you receive will have undergone multiple steps because Lilia thought it was much too plain and he wanted to add a little ✨ razzle-dazzle ✨ to the buttered bread. Lilia probably butters his bread with aquarium pebbles or gravel or something crazy and impossible to eat.

Hi! I’d like to start writing ATLA fanfiction, and I would like medicine to feature prominently. Your post on Chinese medicine was helpful, but there are still some questions I have and don’t know where to start looking.
I’m stumped on what to call pain-killers that “knock you out”. My mind keeps going to “milk of the poppy” from ASOIAF/GOT, but idk if that would be anachronistic? As a westerner, opiates naturally come to mind but I wonder if anything similar/ different was used across Asia. I’m also aware of the very damaging history of opiates in China by European imperialists, so idk if it’s inclusion in ATLA storytelling would be in bad taste? There’s also naming to consider…. Well, it’s just been on my mind!
Do you have any thoughts on this, or suggestions of things I could look into?
Thanks!!!
Yeah, I think it would be in poor taste to bring up opium-as-medicine in an Asian-inspired world.
As far as traditional Asian painkillers go, there's mafeisan (麻沸散). About 1800 years ago, there was a Chinese physician named Hua Tuo (華佗). His claim to fame was being the first person in China to use an anesthetic during surgery. The concoction he came up with was rice wine boiled with mafeisan, literally meaning "hemp boiling powder". Despite its name, the exact ingredients of mafeisan are unknown and the recipe for it basically died with Hua Tuo. Being a nearly 2000 year old drug composed of mysterious herbs, mafeisan has a mythic quality that (I think) fits the ATLA-world nicely.
A few ingredients that some TCM specialists believe made up mafeisan include hashish, datura flower, aconite root, rhododendron flower (Chinese azalea), and/or jasmine root.
In any case, I can imagine Iroh being familiar with mafeisan. Given how much time he spent in the military, he likely learned a few things from the battlefield physicians. Perhaps his fascination with tea stems from his skills in boiling mafeisan and other tea-like medicines.
Like what I’m doing? Tips always appreciated, never expected. ^_^

It really takes me out when I see people insist that “Season 2 ends on a cliffhanger!!”
Like… do you really need an entire season of television to tell you what Victor was gonna do with that final Tear of Gold and the entire Elixir of Life recipe from the Book of Isis he had on hand? Cuz I certainly don’t.

Brewing Ingredients Market to Witness Unprecedented Growth in Coming Years
The global brewing ingredients market was valued 34.5 billion in 2021 and is projected to reach USD 47.9 billion by 2026, growing at a CAGR of 6.8% during the study period. The rise in demand for beers from all over the globe coupled with increasing consumption of craft beers will drive the market demand and growth of brewing ingredients globally. Various opportunities in near future such as introduction of new flavors in the beer market and increase in demand for organic beers will boost the demand of brewing ingredients market globally.
Tumblr media
According to the Organic Trade Association, US organic beer sales increased more than tenfold since 2003, from USD 9 million to USD 92 million in 2014. Peak Organic Brewing Co. offers organic beers of different types, such as ale and pilsner. Consumer are becoming more aware about their intake which is resulting in the increasing in the demand for organic products and clean label food & beverages with maximum use of natural raw materials with information regarding the traceability of the raw materials used. The concern for traces of pesticides has also resulted in a rise in demand for organic beer, which provide a major opportunity to the brewing ingredients manufactures.

By source, the malt extract segment is estimated to hold the largest share in the brewing ingredients market
The market includes five major sources: malt extract, adjuncts/grains, hops, beer yeast, and beer additives. The malt extract segment is further bifurcated into standard malt and specialty malts. Brewing-grade malt extracts are made with the highest-quality brewing malts and get additional colors and flavors from using specialty malts. This gives beer the unique character and flavor desired for the particular style brew. These malts often have a longer time in the kiln, at higher temperatures, or get roasted to add depth, complexity, and flavor to the resulting beer. Specialty malts include less in the way of sugars but have a greater influence on the color of the beer. These malts are widely used in craft beers.
By brewery size, the craft brewery is estimated to grow at a higher growth rate in the brewing ingredients market.
According to the Brewers Association, an American craft brewer is a small and independent brewer, where small breweries have an annual production of 6 million barrels of beer or less. The craft brewing industry contributed USD 82.9 billion to the US economy in 2019, with more than 580,000 employees. The average alcohol by volume (ABV) content of a craft beer is 5% to 10%, but some of the most popular craft beers have an ABV of as high as 40%. On the other hand, beer produced in bulk by macro breweries has an ABV of 4% to 6% and as little as 2%. Craft breweries offer different flavors, which allow consumers with different tastes to cater to their preferences. These factors are driving the growth of the craft brewery segment in the global market.

The increasing demand for beers in the Asia Pacific countries drives the region's growth rate at a higher pace.
The Asia Pacific region comprises two high-growth economies: India and China. The drinking preferences of the population in this region are gradually shifting toward alcoholic culture. The large, increasing population and the growing market mean that the demand for brewing ingredients is still promising. Another factor is the densely populated areas that are not completely tapped by beer manufacturing and brewing ingredient companies. Hence, beer produced in macro breweries and craft breweries still has a high-growth rate. Moreover, the increasing spending capacity of consumers has led to a surge in demand for craft beers. There has been an emergence of various craft breweries in countries such as India over the last few years.

One story that'd be really fun to write out would be from a person that is isekai'd into the world of a dating sim as the heroine. They're one of those evil heroines that want all the male routes to fall in love with them. They even have that innate charm magic or they use methods like laced cookies to make the men fall in love with them. However, much to their dismay, there's this character that always foils them. He's the secret route that the heroine never took interest in. He passed out wards against charm magic. He finds antidotes to love potions. No matter what the heroine tries, he keeps foiling each and every single one of their plans. The heroine hates him but he finds the heroine and their tactics absolutely fascinating. They keep going at it until one day the heroine realizes with horror that they may have fallen in love with him.
#story ideas#i've already done some planning for this#in my idea (as if this isn't already my idea) everyone in the world has a special skill#some skills are more unique than others#despite all of that the heroine who comes from this high class noble family is given 'appraisal' which is the most basic of basic abilities#what the heroine eventually realizes though is that they have a special form of appraisal called 'organic appraisal'#meaning they get more information analyzing organic materials#from this they choose to excel in potion making (which is also a very basic skill that people look down on bc anyone can do it)#by use of their organic appraisal they can use ingredients in very specific ways to create very specific effects#they basically revolutionized potion making revealing it to be a very in depth topic#anyway tho the male lead's ability is 'perfect copy' meaning he can copy anything he's seen perfectly#from observing the heroine brew and hearing her explanation on how they brew he learned how to make an antidote to their potions#the male lead honestly doesn't care the heroine wants everyone to fall in love with them#he finds them to be very intelligent and interesting. he wants to keep them close#the heroine is looked down upon by their family for not being outstanding so they want to show it to everyone that they're worth something#hence why they want to be loved#but that pesky male lead keeps getting in the way of their goals simply for research purposes#but at the same time he's the only one that's ever showed interest in them and their research and hobbies#he's the only one that has pointed out how game changing and amazing they are even if he's a jerk about it#s-so maybe he's not that bad.... >///> (so they think)
