“What do you mean we lost him?” 

“He hasn’t returned to his handlers, sir. His last known whereabouts were traced to he heli-carrier which crashed into the river. No body has been recovered.” 

“His programming has been compromised, he must be returned and wiped before it’s too late.” 

“How shall we proceed sir?”

“Prep Liho. It’s time for her to prove her reputation.” 

WASHINGTON D.C. (post fall of S.H.E.I.L.D)

“I’m warning you, Rogers, you might not want to pull on that thread.” Natasha turned with a swing of her red hair and left. Steve held the file in his hands, the file that contained information on his best friend and what had happened since they had last been together. 

“You’re going after him, aren’t you?” Sam questioned, hands in his pockets. 

“He’s my friend, I have to.” Steve stated. 

“I’m coming with you.” Sam said. Steve nodded.

BUCHAREST, ROMANIA 2016

The streets of the city were bustling. People moving about their daily routines, it was easy for him to blend in. To become one of them, though he wasn’t. He spoke the language, he bought from local markets and returned to his small apartment, as normal a routine as anyone else. No one would suspect he was in hiding. No one would suspect he wasn’t sure who he was. He was good at it. Too good. For as long as he could remember it was all he knew how to do. Infiltrate. Extract. Execute. No mistakes. No loose ends. Don’t be seen. Don’t be heard. Now he was in limbo. The life he once knew was not his own, he understood that now. He didn’t want to return to it, he’d rather die than go back. 

Finishing his trip to the local market, returning to his humble one bedroom apartment with a bag of plums, he found someone waiting for him. A man he’d seen before. The man in D.C. He was reading through his notebook, the one he’d used to scribble down anything he could remember. Any fragment of the man he used to be. The man turned, 

“Do you know who I am?” He asked. 

“You’re Steve. I met you on the bridge.” 

“I want to help you, Buck.” Steve said, closing the notebook and setting it down on the shabby kitchen table. Bucky set down the bag of plums, 

“You can’t.” He muttered. 

“Listen, there are people who will try to find you. Try to use you. You’re not safe.” Steve continued. 

“I know.” Was Bucky’s reply. Steve furrowed his brow, looking at his friend who at one time would run charging into any battle. He now stood before him a shell of that man. Steve opened his mouth to speak again when Bucky interrupted, 

“You’re here to get me back to your base, where you’ll say I’ll be safe.” Bucky shook his head. 

“I won’t be safe anywhere.” He looked down at the floorboards beneath them. 

“Buck, listen to me. I can help you, but you have to let me.” Steve pleaded. Bucky looked back at Steve when the sound of gunshots and screams echoed from the staircase. Sam chimed in Steve’s ear, 

“You got company.” 

Steve looked at Bucky as if to say “it’s time to go”. Bucky punched a hole through the floor with his metal arm and snatched a backpack out of it. More gunshots ricocheted outside in the hall, more screams until they stopped. Steve and Bucky both watched the door to the apartment carefully for whatever was on the other side. The door burst open with incredible, inhuman force.    A woman dressed in tight black clothes stood in the doorway. She lifted her head, cocking it to one side as if mocking them. She splayed her arms outwards, objects in the apartment began to lift into the air. 

“Go!” Steve commanded, as the woman launched various household items at him. Bucky didn’t hesitate, jumping out the window and landing on the rooftop below. Steve blocked most of the onslaught with his shield, until he felt it being pulled from him by an invincible force. He strained against her power, charging forward to land a blow against her with the shield. The invisible pull stopped and Steve turned and ran, following Bucky’s route.

“Sam, we got a problem.” 

“What kind of problem?” 

“The mutant kind.” 

“Shit.”

Summary: Ivory “Ivy” Demetrius, daughter of Demeter, member of the Avengers, and Bucky Barnes’ sworn enemy. Could a two week mission in Milan mend their relationship or will it open old wounds and tear them further?

Fury had called, instructing me to pack my things for an international mission. Though begrudgingly, I prepared for the worst, packing as lightly as I could. I sighed when I realised how late it was. Rushing into my car I made sure to inform my friend, Allie I was dropping off my cat, Salem. Once she was taken care of I began speeding to the tower.

“There ‘ya are, Ivy,” Bucky’s accent pricked at my ears. As I slipped off the elevator. “What do you want, Barnes?” the words came out with more venom than I’d intended. “Nothin’ Fury told me to come find you, he’s ready to brief us.” he says lazily.

“Avengers, you’re tasked with infiltrating the bases of a new criminal organisation called INDIGO. Your goal is to confiscate their replicas of Dr. Banner’s Hulk serum, our inside sources dictate that they’re using the radiation to create mutants set to destroy SWORD. This will allow soldiers of Thanos onto earth. Your mission will span two weeks as you will cover 1 of 3 international bases each. Ivy, you will be paired with Barnes in Milan, Roger’s and Wilson will be going to California, While Romanov and Barton handle Russia. Is this clear?” Fury’s words left me appalled. Me, and Bucky? How am I meant to spend weeks in Italy with that him? I open my mouth to object but my mouth runs dry. With a raised eyebrow Nick turns and disappears into the shadows.

As I walk up the stairs of our jet I can’t help but remember how cheerful everyone else was. Natasha and Clint boarded their flight joking about their days in budapest while Sam and Steve walked side by side. It was bizarre, there I was sitting on a private jet, across from the only person on the team I despised. I would’ve been perfectly happy with anyone but him, and still. Fury stuck me with him in a misguided attempt to soften our relationship. He’s wrong, there is no “softening” my relationship with Bucky, not after what he said about me, not after he shattered my soul.

Hungary - 2018

My first international mission, I was paired with Bucky and I couldn’t’ve been happier. I’d been harbouring a feelings for him for months. The weeks we spent together had allowed hope to bloom in my chest. I began thinking that romance was blossoming between us. That was until the pinnacle of our mission came.

We’d successfully made it into HYDRA’s Hungarian base, taking down several of their agents before their tech room erupted in flames. The grenade they had set off filling my lungs with smoke. I scrambled to find Bucky, he had to be here somewhere, he was my partner after all. He had to be here!

Jumping through the broken glass I stumbled down the hallway, opening all of the doors before fire could engulf them. I had to find him damn it! My patience wore thin as I reached the end of the hall, one last door, one last chance to find him before we burnt to death.

I jumped into the office, relieved to find Bucky sprawled on the couch by the balcony. I held him up, dragging us to the balcony where Sam could easily see us and send help our way.

In the helicopter I held onto him, “Ivy, please.” he said squeezing my hand lightly. Using my powers, I asked the medic to let me mend the gash on his forehead. He looked up at me, smiling lightly as i started to pinch his skin back together. I hadn’t noticed the way my venom slowly seeped into him. It wasn’t until the all familiar seizing began that I realised what I’d just done. I held him tight, stilling him as the medic injected him with an antitoxin.

When he came to we were in a hospital room, 5 hours later. When he gained the strength to open his eyes he practically leered at me, “What did you do you bitch?!” his words pierced straight through my heart. “Bucky liste-” he cut me off immediately, “No! Why would I listen to you? You almost killed me! I trusted you and you poisoned me!” he said, his hands still shaking. He yelled at me, instructing me to leave immediately, so I did, abandoning the flora of hope that blossomed within me alongside him.

The memory left as Bucky snapped his fingers at me. I looked up at him, raising an eyebrow wordlessly. “What’s got you twisted?” he asked unamused. “Nothing, I was just thinking about all the ways I’m gonna make this mission miserable for you.” I smiled, masking the ache in my chest. “Yeah? Try not to kill me this time, that way you have someone to keep miserable.” He rolled his eyes at me, standing to get a drink.

Bucky Bucky and general DC heroes (MCU/DC crossover) (I started writing half my muses on MCU/DC crossover forum sites, including Bucky! I'm throwing him back into his roots)

Batman I just think Bucky meeting Batman would be very funny, especially in a professional setting and especially if canon divergent post-Endgame. Bucky having war flashbacks to being chased through Bucharest by a man dressed as a cat because 'so many superheroes are furries.'

Wonder Woman Bucky and Diana based on that one fan plot where Diana was involved, in some way, with fighting during WWII and they met back then and then meet again in the modern day. bonus points if Diana thinks he's his own grandson and he doesn't correct her.

Superman idk Bucky and Superman would just be kinda wholesome? also if Superman mun comfortable, Bucky would totally have a crush on Superman. you can't convince me otherwise. also Clark and Bucky as a ship would be 'pure of heart, dumb of ass' in that order and it makes me giggle.

Other any of the Batfam would also be fun but there's every chance they get unofficially adopted. new dad! new dad! new dad!

I don't know that many DC heroes. girl help. who else is there? idk but I want them!

Bucky + ship partner post-mission shit. anything. just them being like 'thank FUCK that's over with'. snuggling. idgaf.

Bucky + Steve, Bucky + Sam pure of heart, dumb of ass. this is a never-ending want. it's not a specific want, either. I just like putting them in threads together.

Bucky + Spider-Muses I once joked about Bucky adopting various Spider-characters and I still want it. Bucky is the ancient, morally ambiguous MCU Batman on this blog, in that he will not stop fucking adopting people, but at least Bruce usually adopts children. Bucky'll adopt a 30 year old. they're still 70 years younger than him so they're fair game.

Joker + Batman characters in general (focused on villains/rogues gallery) I have no specifics, I just realised he talks to the Rogues Gallery a lot in comics/cartoons and my Joker… hasn't. ever. I can fix that.

Jameson and Villains (any) I just think it'd be interesting, y'know? Jameson doesn't tend to play well with others, in general, but there's a chance it doesn't go horribly wrong!

Wag Wag and X-Men Characters Wagner Himura is an X-Men oc that, in his entire time on my blog, has never threaded with an X-Men character. it can be any character and any verse. I don't care. I just want him to speak to other mutants, man.

Logan specifically, I would like Wag and Logan threads. I always picture Wag as a general pest when he starts working at the school, like throwing water balloons filled with speed potions at people that annoy him kind of pest, and I get the feeling Logan would either hate his guts, like him because he does not discriminate between students and teachers, or be very cautious because he doesn't know Wag's limits while Wag's just like 'hey ;D I don't actually find you attractive but if flirting means I don't get stabbed, I'll flirt. ;D I'm high as a fuckin kite rn lmao ;D'

Charles Xavier Wag and Charles would also be funny because of the aforementioned 'high as a kite'.

Brotherhood any brotherhood muse in his brotherhood verse would be nice, too. Idk how he got into the brotherhood in that verse and I want to explore it. I just miss writing Wag, lbr.

OCs tbh any OC. let's yeet our x-men OCs together and see what bad ideas they come out with. it'll be funny. I'm willing to make up places that they can go through a portal to, as well.

Bam and X-Men Characters Bam has an X-Men verse in which he vibrates particles when angry and I just… I miss Bam being chaotic. I miss Bam being a mess. she's gotten too collected and I want disaster Bam back. I don't have specific preferences for this one.

Wag and Bam Basically, both Wag and Bam (in his X-Men verse) have abilities that can/are activated by emotions. With Wag, he has more control over his abilities and thus the chances of anger doing anything is low but not zero. If his anger is doing anything, it's a silent, 'scorched Earth' kind of anger that mostly shows in things moving telekinetically. With Bam, his power is exclusively activated by anger.

I just want that in a(nother, in Bam's case) thread or plot. It'd be fun.

Mattie and Avengers/SHIELD/HYDRA Mattie worked for both SHIELD and HYDRA so I would like to establish some kind of relations with SHIELD and HYDRA muses, but she also sent records to the Avengers after the fall of HYDRA and began torturing/murdering HYDRA agents who survived The Snap so like……….. 👀

also Avengers meeting her after The Blip or whatever dumb bitch shit The Snap 2: Electric Boogaloo is canonically called would be… like she a gremlin in the swamplands. she's a whole fuckin cryptid by that point. I want her ex-coworkers to meet the cryptid she's become and be like, '... ayo? you good?' and her to be knee-deep in swamp water, dragging a body, like, '... yup!'

Arnulf Arnulf and Steve's Friends arnulf needs to meet non-Steve avengers (or others who know him). it would be funny. 'hey you kinda look like Steve Rogers..' '[subtle german accent] a lot of people say that! it's so strange. I don't see it.'

Past - HYDRA threads between like 2012-2014 would be interesting? idk. I feel like I've forgotten how to write serious threads.

"Time, time, time, see what's become of me." Bucky's attempt at hiding after the events in Washington don't go as planned when a ghost from his past reappears, Bucky will have to make a terrible choice. Bucky x female mutant oc Word Count: 1,051 MASTERLIST

Logan had fallen asleep in the living room. The fire place was crackling gently. Bucky had been staring into the flames, hypnotized. He let his mind wander, memories started to trickle in. Since he had been deprogramed for so long, his brain was putting together the missing pieces. The memories weren’t clear and complete but he was able to remember important details. The faces of those he had killed on Hydra’s command. He wanted to face his past, he wanted to help Anna. 

He stood up and made for the stairs. If she was asleep he wouldn’t disturb her but if she were anything like him, sleep didn’t come easy. Gently, he cracked the door to the master bedroom open. Anna was sitting on the edge of the mattress, her head in her hands. Softly, Bucky tapped on the door to reveal his presence. She didn’t respond, so he opened the door wider. 

“Anna?” He called in a soft whisper. She didn’t move. Icy fear flooded Bucky’s veins as he began a slow approach to her. His flesh hand extended before him to place on her shoulder, 

“Anna, are you alright?” He asked, his hand was nearly touching her when she grabbed his wrist tightly. 

“Anna!” He winced as her grip grew even stronger. 

“You weren’t there.” She said. Bucky’s brows furrowed in confusion as he tried to pull his wrist from her grasp. He didn’t want to risk hurting her if he used his other hand. 

“What?” He asked, still struggling. Anna stood up and faced him, her eyes were dark. Empty. 

“You don’t know what it was like.” She growled, “Now see what you did to me.” 

She placed her other hand on his chest, her once brown eyes turned bright blue. Bucky felt the life being pulled from his veins, the very air in his lungs evaporated as he gasped for oxygen. He dropped to his knees, looking up at her as she siphoned his very soul away from him. 

“Drop him!” Logan yelled as he tackled Anna against the wall. With her grip on Bucky removed, he collapsed on the bedroom floor. Anna laughed as Logan tried to hold her, 

“Snap out of it, whatever hold they have on you!” He commanded, 

“I am death, I cannot be held.” Anna smirked, with a touch she shoved Logan off her, launching him across the room. She kneeled down beside Bucky’s unconscious body, 

“You know where to find me, моя любовь.” She whispered into his ear, before walking out of the room. 

When Bucky came to he was in what looked to him like a hospital bed, the beeping of the monitor along with the buzzing of the florescent lights above him. To his left sat Steve, with his head down. When he noticed Bucky was awake he jumped to his feet, 

“Are you alright, Buck?” Steve asked. Bucky groaned as he stretched his aching body. 

“Never better.” He quipped, his throat was dry making his voice hoarse. 

“Thought we lost ya, kid.” 

Bucky turned to his right to see Logan leaning against the window. Seeing Bucky’s bewildered expression Logan continued, 

“She almost killed you. Sucked nearly every drop of your life from you, if I hadn’t shown up when I did we’d be in a very different situation.” 

“The super soldier serum bought you some time.” Steve added. Bucky blinked in astonishment.

“Did she say anything to you?” Steve questioned, “Anything at all.”  

Bucky thought for a moment, she had said something to him. Something that cut him deep, deeper than he was willing to admit right now. But there was something else, something after she had let him go. 

“She said I’d know where to find her.” 

Steve and Logan looked at each other. 

“Sounds like a trap.” Logan commented,

“Definitely.” Steve agreed. “Whoever is controlling her wants to get you alone.” 

“I have to go after her.” Bucky stated. 

“I don’t think you’re in the right state for that.” Steve warned. 

“I have to go, Steve. It has to be me, I am the only one that can bring her back.” Bucky insisted. 

“What if she’s the kind you can’t bring back?” Logan proposed, crossing his arms over his chest. Bucky paused. 

“Can you do what might need to be done?” Logan asked. Bucky looked at him with fervor in his eyes, 

“I can bring her back.” He stated. Steve let out a sigh, 

“Alright, as soon as you’re better we’ll go after her.” 

Bucky nodded and rested his head back against the pillow. The next few days of rest, his dreams were filled with memories and the words Anna has scarred on him.

 “You weren’t there” 

“See what you did to me”

SIBERIA 1994

Night had fallen. Bucky sat in his cell awaiting the release of sleep that would never come. When he heard the sound of footsteps. He expected it to be one of the superior officers doing their rounds, but instead a soft voice called his name. 

“James.” She whispered, pressing her face against the bars of his cell. He looked at her and stood up immediately. 

“What are you doing out of your cell? You’ll be killed.” He warned, standing before her. She smiled up at him, 

“If I am to die, than it will be because of my love for you. I don’t care if they find me.” She reached through the bars to caress his cheek. Bucky leaned into the warmth of her palm, 

“Anna.” He sighed in resignation. “They’ll punish us both if they find out. I don’t want you hurt.” He placed his flesh hand on top of hers, still holding his face in her hand. 

“моя любовь, I am not afraid of death. Only losing you would be true pain.” 

“I love you, Anna.” The words left his lips before he even realized the gravity of them. But there was truth behind every letter. She smiled and pulled his face closer to hers, a delicate kiss between iron bars. 

“Someday, we will see the sun together.”

Bucky awoke with an ache in his chest. He had abandoned someone he loved, someone who loved him. He wasn’t about to do it again. Under cover of night, he left for Siberia.
