So I finally use makeup and i feel like i unlocked a new part of the store (im 19 sad ik ) and i might have spent my whole paycheck on makeup (didnt mean to ) and while I was doing that i kept getting thoughts of Bradley looking at the price of makeup and being flabbergasted (I was looking for a highlighter and i found one and was gonna get it BUT it 17 dollars for a SMALL AND I MEAN SMALL highlighter stick so I got a new one ) i just know Bradley would be so stunned. But he try to help but he would lose his mind at the prices
Bradley's mostly content to wander behind you with the basket when you shop, but as your hand reaches for a lip gloss tube, his eyes widen.
"Baby," He hisses, "That's- twenty-nine dollars? Isn't that lip gloss?"
"It's a celebrity's brand," You point at the label, "That makes it more expensive."
"Jesus. Well don't get that one," He scoffs, "Isn't there shit by the counter for cheaper?"
"I want this one!" You retort indignantly, "It's my money, Brad, I can do whatever I want."
"I'm not trying to control you," He swears, "I'm trying to save you money! I saw a color just like that at CVS for six bucks."
"Is Rihanna the one selling it?" You raise a brow at him, "Makeup's expensive, that's just how it is."
"I guess. Twenty-nine dollars for lip gloss," He grumbles as you toss it into the cart, "That's, like, a meal out, baby. I could buy a new pair of shoes for that much money. And- Forty dollars?!" You're surprised his jaw doesn't drop through the floor like a cartoon, "Babe! That little jar is forty dollars!"
"Keep your voice down," You round on him in a fit of giggles, covering his mouth so as not to draw attention to yourself in the bustling store, "I know, baby. Like I said, makeup's just expensive. Let me just grab what I need, and then we can go, okay? I'll make us something for lunch, we won't spend any more money."
"I don't know if I can financially support this hobby of yours," He regretfully informs you as soon as you remove your hand from his mouth, "Baby, I mean it, I'm happy you like this stuff, but this is gonna break the bank."
"I said I'd use my own money," You promise, though you're certain he'll slide his card through the reader before you can even get yours out of your purse; he always does. "It's okay, baby, it lasts for a while. It's worth it."
"I hope so," His shoulders slump, and you know he's not going to cause another scene, "I just can't believe they're allowed to charge you that much for a tiny little tube. I mean, my shampoo is five dollars, and it comes in, like, a gallon."
"I know, honey," You placate him, looping your arm through his own. You neglect to mention the fact that you're fairly certain his shampoo is also technically body wash and conditioner, and how that might be why it's so cheap, "I know, it's okay. Next time I'll come by myself, I promise."

A Revision Of Your January 2024 • Pick-a-Card
This is the type of reading that I’d like to do at the end of every month, with the hope that it brings some enlightenment towards something that you’ve begun, ended, learned, or solidified within yourself or your physical life. Even if life externally hasn’t seemed so eventful, perhaps a lot of movement has been made internally that you’d benefit from acknowledging.

This month has consisted of a surprise for you. A surprise in terms of an emotion that you’ve experienced (that you’re not used to embracing) and perhaps a new connection with another person - romantic or platonic. You’ve been learning the value of emotions in some way. Learning how to navigate them, how to transmute them, how to accept them when they arise. You’ve begun to play with emotions in a positive way, which helps you to understand how they work and why they work in the way that they do. This was related to some deceit that you were experiencing about your perspective about certain feelings. About fears around allowing yourself to feel different things. There were thought processes and beliefs about this that were hidden for a while, but it seems like you’ve begun to work through them this January. “What’s fact vs fiction?”. “Are these emotions actually my weaknesses?”. “Are they actually destructive like i thought they were? Or is it my perspective of them/my actions with them that holds the energy of ruin?”. There has been a major balancing act of your emotional space. I feel like you’ve learned how to protect yourself emotionally in some way too. How to keep your feelings more private but not in a negative way. You’ve learned to handle them in a very balanced way, and for the first time in a while, you’re feeling relatively calm and emotionally stable. Good for you, Pile One!

In January, you were busy putting up boundaries as a way of protection. I feel like you were cornered into this position. People who once supported you ended up turning on you and you were NOT having it. Period 💅🏾. These are strong boundaries too. And I’m hearing that you’ve had enough of some bs that you’ve been experiencing, so I really feel like people have been throwing shade and turning on you for a little while. And it seems like you really tried to just grit your teeth and endure this, but you reached your breaking point. These people who you’ve been putting up with could really be a part of your family. If not family then someone in your workplace. I’m being brought to a boss in relation to that. There’s something that feels very cliquish about this group of people. Like they just stick to themselves and ostracise anyone who doesn’t fit into their image or who they want that person to be. By the end of this month, you’ve prioritised your own feelings. Prioritised filling your own cup so to speak. You’ve begun to give to yourself emotionally. To give yourself what you need instead of waiting on these people to give you what you deserve. You could’ve even really helped these people, but you’ve decided to cut this shit off and direct that kindness towards yourself.

I’m January, you guys have been experiencing a lot of material comfort and stability. This could be money but it doesn’t have to be. Perhaps you’ve started new self-care routines that you pamper yourself with, or you’re just prioritising living in comfort that you can relax in. Things have been very stable for you in terms of your practical and material life. However, there’s a message about being taken of guard by other people’s conflicts that they’ve brought to you. The energy of people disturbing your peace. There’s verbal conflict here that stung. Whether this was you doing the stinging, another person saying hurtful things, or both. I feel like someone said some hurtful shit to you out of nowhere, though. And I’m hearing that this was their way of trying to bring you down to their level. I’m seeing you being represented by a bird: flying high, feeling carefree and just enjoying life. And here this person comes with arrows and attacks left, right, and centre. You’ve had to defend yourself from this and I feel like you were successful, but there’s still shock lingering around this situation. You know how to defend yourself though. I feel like this person fucked up trying to send some bullshit your way. All because your state of being was a reflection of what they felt like they lacked around you.

lust life - SIRIUS BLACK
(sirius black x female!reader)
summary : you've been hooking up with james potter over the summer, but when you return to hogwarts you find yourself drawn to his best friend. you've adamantly hated sirius black throughout your school years, and you're sure the feeling's mutual... or you were
a/n : hopefully if things turn out well this will be a story with at least 5 parts (probably more)? so feel free to stick around :))
warnings: sexual references, strong & suggestive language, 14+
other parts:
PART 1 (current)
PART 2

PART ONE
Tumblr media
Hands buried in his jet black hair, you kissed him heatedly as he pushed you against the wall. Void of any thoughts, your mind was focused solely on the rush of adrenaline that the feel of his hands on you was causing. After a few minutes you pulled away, and looked into his dazed green eyes with a small sigh.
"I should get going, the girls will start wondering where I've gone." You said, your voice dazed and distant.
He nodded almost reluctantly, looking you over once more before leaving, giving you the chance to quickly fix your smudged lipstick in the mirror before also exiting the cramped toilet. You poked your head out of the door and checked the corridor of the train for anyone who might be watching, but thankfully it was empty. Flattening down your skirt, you made your way back to your friends' compartment.
You and James Potter had been hooking up for... 3 months now, was it? You weren't entirely sure and you hadn't exactly been keeping track. It had started off just before the fifth year of school had ended, and it had continued over the summer. It was simply founded on - like most things - sexual attraction, with both parties strictly agreed to no strings attached. It had stayed that way since. Potter needed an output for his energy (of which from personal experience he had an abundance of) and you were scared to commit emotionally in a relationship but still wanted certain benefits, therefore your arrangement just worked.
Sirius smirked as James entered the rickety train compartment, his hair even messier than usual and his glasses spread jauntily across his face.
"So, how was she?" Sirius asked, humour evident in his voice as James rolled his eyes whilst sitting down.
Remus and Peter looked up from the chocolate frog cards they'd been comparing (who had gotten the rarer card: "wanna swap?" "i will for your dumbledore"), finally taking notice of James' disheveled appearance.
"Who?" Peter asked, looking between the two boys nervously.
"His sneaky link of course- the one he won't tell us about." In that moment James felt extremely vulnerable as Sirius' eyes raked up and down him, looking for any sort of clue.
Remus quirked a brow, and Peter's faced promptly turned red as he busied himself by stuffing a struggling chocolate frog into his mouth.
James shrugged, "Good. Nothing much to say really." He paused, taking notice of Sirius' suggestive expression, "And it's definitely not like what you're thinking." He emphasised the last part, picking up the latest daily prophet that was strewn across the floor. James began to rifle through the pages, clearly not reading a thing.
"Who is she?" Sirius exclaimed, ignoring James' previous comment, curiosity biting at his voice. "This has been going on for months now, Prongs, and you haven't even introduced her to us!"
Sirius paused, taking a quick glance at the blond with the remnants of chocolate frog spread around his mouth. "I mean Peter I understand.." He lowered his voice, "but Remus and I... I'm your best friend. Plus I always tell you about the girls I'm with." He said pointedly.
"Only because you have so much to say; there's a new one every bloody week." James gave up pretending to read the newspaper and gave Sirius a look. "Sorry mate but it's just the truth. I'll tell you at some point she's- just not ready."
Sirius stood up with a dramatic sigh, a sign that the interrogation was over. At least for the time being. "I'm going to go grab some pumpkin pasties, anyone want one?"
Peter raised his hand, and Sirius began to leave when James stopped him.
"Here." The boy with the round-rimmed glasses gestured to the money in his right hand.
"James." Remus muttered warningly. He knew that Sirius could never accept money from his friends. Especially not from the Potters, who from Sirius' perspective were already kind enough to allow him to live with them over the summer ever since his parents had completely cut him off.
Sirius paused at the sliding door without fully turning around, so that only the side of his face was visible. "I can handle a few pumpkin pasties, Prongs." Sirius' prior demeanour of happiness vanished, and James realised his offer to help his best friend had likely offended him instead.
James quickly retracted his hand, "Yeah mate, of course."
"-and then I hexed him, because what kind of asshole stands a girl up at Madam Puddifoots?!" Your friend and fellow Slytherin Serafina exclaimed as you burst out laughing. The two of you had always been good friends, and had gotten especially close in the past year: largely due to the fact that you had the same humour.
All of a sudden the trolley lady popped into view as she stuck her head through the open compartment door.
"Anything from the trolley dears?"
Your eyes lit up, saying that you adored food was an understatement, "I'll have a-"
"Got any more pumpkin pasties?" A voice interrupted you, a look of disdain making it's way onto your features.
Sirius Black was in the corridor of the train, right outside your compartment. This had taken you by surprise- you hadn't expected to see him so soon. You had been hopeful that you wouldn't have to see Black at the very least until when lessons began. His sudden appearance had caught you completely off-guard. Granted, he hadn't exactly changed all that much since you had last seen him- which happened to be during an extremely awkward and unpleasant encounter during the summer holidays, just as you were heading to the Potter's home to meet James whilst his parents were away. You had made up some silly excuse at the time, waiting for an hour in a coffee shop before you dared to return to the Potters' home. But then, you hadn't really had the chance to properly look at him, since your eyes had been focused on your trainers in an attempt to conceal your red face.
Mind snapping to the present, your eyes drifted again to Black. His dark wavy hair was now chin-length, just about long enough to brush against his defined jawline. From where you were sat, he seemed noticeably taller too. A shame, you thought. The days during your first three years of Hogwarts - when you had been able to make fun of Sirius Black for being shorter than you as it was the one advantage you had - had clearly long gone. On top of that, Black appeared to have visibly matured. His air of arrogance and mischief were still there, sure, but he looked more... burdened. The dark circles underneath his eyes didn't escape your notice.
All of the girls around you except for Serafina immediately began to smile shyly.
Black, completely unaware, was in the middle of grabbing four pasties when he noticed his gaggle of admirers.
"Ladies," He acknowledged with a smirk, and you got the distinct impression that he was basking in the attention, like a cat in a garden enjoying the sunlight.
That was until his gaze fell on you. "(L/n)." He dragged out your last name in a disinterested tone, the anger in his foggy grey eyes betraying how much your appearance bothered him. Apparently you still got on his nerves. Good.
Your glare somehow increased as your eyes met his. It wasn't until the trolley lady asked again for what you wanted that you broke off from his stare. Black, taking that as a sign of victory, went back to his gang of troublemakers, allowing you to finally relax and scoff your cauldron cakes. Serafina had watched the two of you interact, now deep in thought as she absentmindedly fiddled with an empty chocolate frog box.
After a few moments of bated breath followed by a reassuring click as the compartment door slid shut, the girls began to giggle amongst eachother. Their gaze flickered to you every so often as they excitedly recounted what had just happened. This behaviour was pretty normal, and so you had learned to block it out by now. The girls you and Sera were with in the compartment were just some Slytherins you'd sat next to in class before, so it wasn't like you were obliged to chat with them or anything.
Lost in thought, you leaned your head against the cool window, swirling your tongue around your mouth as you savoured the taste of the delectable cake. Here was to hoping that your sixth year would be as sweet as the chocolatey goodness in your mouth.
Saltiness flooded your taste buds as you accidentally bit your tongue.

Not ganna outright say what account, but I will share that I was one of the people who had a long thread conversation with Vivziepop when she was spiraling the other day on twitter, and let me tell ya, it was like talking to a brick fucking wall. Of course I expected it, but when you’re directly talking to the woman herself, the experience is far out there. Like her other response threads, the conversation was long. No we didn’t reach a middle ground, no the conversation didn’t go anywhere, and no….she didn’t own up to anything or practically acknowledge anything I said. If I had to sum up the conversation, it was mainly her making excuses, tap dancing around certain things I said or just straight up ignoring it and saying something else. At one moment she even said nothing and just let a fan speak for her. This woman is defensive, insecure, and lacks social awareness, and I genuinely feel like the internet is making her mental health 10x worse than what is already is.
But putting that aside, there is genuinely no hope for this woman. No matter what, she’ll stick to what she believes and block out anyone who says or even suggests otherwise. She’ll put up walls for herself and either cower behind her fanbase, or ignore the issue and make up irrelevant excuses. Her words may be different but her actions show otherwise, that she genuinely believes she can do no wrong, that her writing is flawless and that she doesn’t need any constructive criticism or help, wether that be regarding the shows or in general. She’ll pull the homophobia or queer card as a defense mechanism, and cope by seeking constant praise and attention from her fanbase.
The fact that her victims may never get justice depresses me, and I’m ganna be honest with y’all, every day we get a new pathetic twitter rant, every day I wonder if reviewing or even watching Hazbin is worth it. This woman has made it clear that she will not accept anyone who tells her that her work is flawed and that she could be better. She thinks everything she touches is perfect as it is. Hazbin is going to be bad and there is no hope for it to get better because the creator has made it clear that she’s not going to do that. She’s going to stay in her personal bubble that she’s been stuck in for the past decade and never come out into the real world. So like…what’s the point of even reviewing Hazbin if you know it’s never going to get better and just slip further down the slope like Helluva is right now all because the creator is a stubborn woman child?? I want to like Hazbin so fucking bad. I love the concept and I can SMELL the potential. I want it to succeed. But there’s no point in hoping that it’ll be good or improve and it fucking sucks, I’m just so tired of all of this. I’m still definitely going to review Hazbin, but if by any miracle this show gets a season 2, I don’t think I’ll stick around for that long.

Tumblr media
One week.
One week has passed by since you’ve seen your best friend. The man you’ve been used to sharing stories with during spontaneous sleepovers in his stain-filled bed and falling asleep on his shoulder during your movie nights. One week since that same man crushed your spirits, stomping and pulverizing them in front of you. No calls, no visits, just the empty house you’ve known since your parents brought you home from the Hawkins hospital.
Your parents decided to extend their trip a bit with Chrissy overpacking and needing some more help getting adjusted to living on her own for just a little longer. You weren’t complaining, as with the circumstances that left you being alone overnight for the first time ever made you well adjusted. Plus, you felt as if you needed some more time to wrap your head around everything, and your parents finally coming home won’t help the headspace you needed to avoid. The comparisons would start the minute they walk in the door and the absence of Chrissy settled in.
As much as you loved your sister, it hurt to be constantly in her shadow. She was your parents favorite child, star athlete thanks to being captain of the cheer squad, and now going on to do great things at a great university, while you weren’t sure what it was you wanted to do with your life yet. You loved running the paper and being in debate club, but you weren’t sure if those would still stick with you once you walked the stage of the Hawkins High auditorium. That was what you admired most about Eddie, his determination and drive towards his ultimate goal.
He knew he was going to be a big rock star since he was in middle school, he would remind you and Chrissy of that any chance he got. He wand his band were going to take off any minute now, soar the charts and become overnight sensations, selling out a world tour and headlining every venue and music festival. You vowed the moment you became his best friend you’d be by his side and support him during his entire journey. Now, you weren’t sure that was still a possibility.
Being second best to Chrissy was something you had grown used to, but never did you think it would happen with Eddie. You had accepted the fact that a romantic relationship was never in the cards for the two of you, opting to stay happy and content with a friendship that couldn’t be broken by anything, at least, that’s how it used to be. But then he tried to kiss you and settle for you, as if it was just some thing that needed to happen now that she was off to college and out of Hawkins for good, settling for the crumbs that were leftover from the delicious Thanksgiving dinner. And it hurt.
It fucking hurt.
On top of everything, you felt as if you had no one to really go to about this. Only a few people knew about your crush on Eddie, and you had no desire to spill your guts about your dilemma at the moment. In most stressful situations you encountered, Chrissy was always the person you’d go to. Being your big sister, she always knew exactly what to say to get you to think clearly or point you in the right direction. But with this situation involving her directly, and her off at college living her new life, it wasn’t an option. So here you were, left to your own devices, a week of thinking and stressing about the future between you and Eddie, platonic or not.
You park the car in front of Family Video and make your way towards the entrance. The allotted time for the videos you rented to your movie night with Eddie was up, and maybe seeing your friends would cheer you up a bit. Steve and Robin always knew what to say to get your spirits high, or even higher if you just wanted to hang.
“Welcome to Family Video how may I-oh! Hey Y/N,” Steve greets you, his smile stretching from ear to ear. You return his smile, your lips tight and teeth remaining behind the barrier of your mouth as you approach the counter. You place the tapes in front of Steve and tap your nails against the surface.
“Just here to return those,” you say simply.
“How’d you and Munson like them? I’ve been meaning to check out this specifically,” Steve asks, picking up the tape that had just began to play when everything went down between you and Eddie. You look down at your hands, trying to avoid eye contact with the man known as ‘the hair’.
“We, uh…we didn’t finish that one. Some stuff came up,” you let out lightly. You sigh to yourself as the silence around you and Steve begins to thicken. You hear the gears and ringing of the cash register as you continue to look away, all around the video store.
“Do you want to talk about it?” He asks you. You knew Steve had grown into quite the understanding person within recent years, finally growing out of the asshole popular kid who only cared about reputations and looks. You knew it had something to do with the kids he looked after, the kids you had grown closer to since they became friends with Eddie last year through Hellfire. You always appreciated his advice, but you were still in a funk about the entire thing, not in the mood for talking much.
“Nope, just need a distraction. Any new movies come in since last week?” You deflect.
“Unfortunately no, but I know you said you wanted to finally check out the Star Wars trilogy, and the person who had Return of the Jedi just returned it, so I saved all three movies for you,” He tells you, reaching beneath him and pulling the three tapes onto the counter. You gasp and jump a bit, excitement surging through your body for the first time in a week. You were so thrilled that you didn’t hear the bell to the door chime, alerting everyone that someone new had arrived.
“Steve! You shouldn’t have. This is going to be amazing,” you exclaim, beating your fists in excitement against the counter.
“What’s going to be amazing?”
Suddenly, you felt your blood turn cold and shivers run up your spine at the sound of that familiar voice. You turn slowly to see the frizzy curls that you to fill you with as much excitement as just felt with getting to watch Star Wars. All happiness that you were temporarily experiencing was gone, taken away by the sheer sound of his voice.
“Uh, Y/N is going to finally watch the Star Wars movies, that’s all,” Steve says, trying to break the tension in the room.
“That’s great,” Eddie says, faking enthusiasm. You hear his heavy footsteps walk around the other side of the counter and off to the horror section. You let out a breath you didn’t realize you’d been holding in, shifting your attention back to Steve. His features soften at the sudden change in your demeanor.
“Y/N, are you sure you’re ok-“
“Just ring me up, Steve. Please?” You mumble out. He simply nods and begins to process of ringing you out. You keep your head low, but every so often you watch Eddie walk about the store. You had no idea what was going on in his head, but his lack of reaching out to you made your heart sink. Did he not realize what he had done to you? Or did he just not care?
“Alright, Y/N, you’re all checked out,” Steve tell you as he passes you the tapes. He gives you a soft smile and you just look at him as you grab the tapes.
“Thanks Steve. See ya later,” you tell him quickly, before running out the door and towards your car. You’re quick to open the driver’s side door and jump inside, tossing the tapes gently on the dash. You jump out of your skin when you see the passenger door flip open, but quickly calm yourself when you see Eddie jumping in and slamming the door shut.
“Get out of my car Eddie.”
“No, not until we talk,” he tells you, his body facing you and eyes boring into you. You know you have to be strong and talk things out with him. He’s been part of your life for so many years, but he also broke your heart when he called you by your sister’s name, essentially settling for you while still thinking about her.
“Spit it out then,” you say coldly. Your keep your eyes ahead of you looking out towards the hood of your car. You hear him sigh and the clanking of his chains as he shifts around a bit.
“I just wanted to say I’m sorry,” he begins, letting out a sigh. “I know you probably hate me for what happened last week, and I’m sorry for the way things went down. I shouldn’t have had that much to drink and I shouldn’t have put your feelings on the line,” he tells you. His voice was soft and you felt as though it was sincere. You turn to him and look at his big, round, brown eyes, the ones that always left you in a puddle on the floor.
“I could never hate you, Eddie,” you tell him simply. You watch the serious look on his face creep into a smile, his eyes gleaming at your words.
“Really? Good, because I was thinking-“
“I’m not done,” you tell him, holding your hand out to try to stop him. “Just because I don’t hate you, doesn’t mean I don’t hate what you did. Eddie…you really hurt me. The feelings I had for you, they were real and strong and clouded all my judgement most of the time. I thought I could handle you having a crush on my sister and pushing my own feelings aside in order to be your friend-your best friend. But when you said what you said last week, it broke me in ways I can barely fathom into coherent words. You called me Chrissy for crying out loud Eds,” you explain to him. You watch him nod and look to your floorboard, the look of shame and guilt you hadn’t seen much from him seeping into his features.
“Had?” He asks, quirking a brow at you.
“I’m sorry?” You question, confusion smeared across your face.
“You said the feelings you had for me. Do you not think of me that way anymore?” He asks, turning his body towards you once more and looking back into your eyes. You let out a soft sigh and shake your head.
“I don’t know. I’ve been in pain for a week and it’s given me a lot of time to think about the situation, how it all went down, and so many outcomes from how we can go on from this,” you tell him. You feel your eyes prick with tears and you swallow down a sob, the raw emotions coming from this conversation really hitting you. “I don’t think I can continue loving someone who doesn’t truly love me the way that I love them. Hell, I’m not even sure I can move past it and be friends.”
You watched Eddie’s face fall at your words, his eyes full of sadness and his jaw hanging open. He grabs your hands and holds them in his own.
“Y/N, please. I-I can’t lose you, I need you. Please just listen to me-“ he begins to say, but you’re quick to cut him off.
“Eddie, I’m sorry I can’t. Not right now. A-and I’m not sure when. But I do know I need you to get out of my car because I can’t take this anymore right now,” you explain, letting the tears race down your cheeks as you choke out the words to him. You’re breaking your own heart at this point, but it might be better this way.
Right?
“Y/N, please-“ he chokes out, tears of his own welling in his eyes.
“Eddie, please let me go.”
He slowly lets go of your hands and sits in the passenger seat for a moment, his head hung in defeat. You turn to look out the driver window, trying to muffle your sobs by putting your hands over your mouth and choking them back more. The passenger door opens once again and you feel the movement spread throughout the car, and the door closes softly. You watch as Eddie walks around to your side and hops in his van that was parked in the space beside you, starting his engine and speeding off down the road, not caring if he’d get pulled over or crash the damn thing.
You finally move your hands away from your mouth a grip your steering wheel as you let the cries escape the barrier that is your lips. Resting your forehead against the wheel, your whole body shakes as you let your true feelings out, screaming and tears streaming down your cheeks. No one ever said heartbreak was easy. Maybe it would for the best that Eddie wouldn’t be in your life anymore. Or maybe it wouldn’t.

love grows us, we are but seedlings that found each other 🌱
imagine.
years and years from now, as you sit reminiscing about your memories with your spouse.
a smile appears on your face as you remember how you met, how you fell in love, your first kiss, first argument, memorable experiences, how you changed each other, fit into each other's lives.
it all seemed like just yesterday, but oh how time has passed.
but one thing that made you so glad,
is how despite all, you've been the one for each other.

Cards: The High Priestess, Eight of Pentacles, Four of Wands, Strength (r)
I'm seeing two individuals with harmonious temperament coming together as one. You complete each other in the sense that you fill in the blanks where otherwise would be solitary and one-dimensional, meaning that if you don't have one another in your lives it would not have the same colour and excitement like when you have. You are two sides of the same coin, the yin and yang. You understand their thoughts and ambitions. You see through your spouse in a way that is intuitive and natural. They hear the words you don't speak. They are empathetic with your emotions and offer the shoulder you need. This relationship seeks not to simply exist, but to be in each other's embrace. When you are in love and live in one another's presence, the days grow shorter and the nights warmer, for this is a love that cares not time and space, but presence and warmth. I hear, “There's no one that completes me like you do.”
You bounce ideas off each other. You are a couple but also teammates. When there's a project or a certain issue to tackle you both sit down and work on it seriously. They're very pragmatic but sharp. You are very creative and get straight to the point. They honestly feel that you are quite savage when you put on your game face. They're not afraid to be blunt and direct if they have to. They enjoy seeing your fierce side and relish in seeing the side of you that you normally won't show.
Because you both have such a deep understanding of what the other wants, it makes living together very easy. One day you both decide you'd start a life together, maybe build a family, and it will go quite smoothly from there. There'd not be much “awkward roommate” moments that happen whenever two people start sharing a roof. You both have drive, heading in the same direction and want the same things. There's not much discord between you, although you can expect the usual arguments and slight difference in opinion, but they're mostly minor arguments. At the end of the day, you stick to each other like glue, but not in a clingy sense. I get that you both are people who need space of their own, but when you're together, you are together.
There is a playfulness in this relationship that tends to keep you both on your toes in a good, teasing way. You enjoy a good banter. I hear, “Two can play the game”. I get that the feminine person is the one who likes to tease and always gets the masculine person pining for them, unable to resist the allure. The attraction is intense and sensual. You are both magnetic to each other. The feminine person has a more elegant energy, like a lavender flower softly dancing in the windy evening. The masculine person has a more stoic energy and I feel that they might appear more solid and intimidating, their stance communicates solidness and radiates quiet fortitude.

Pile 2
Cards: Five of Wands, Knight of Swords, Six of Swords, Temperance
You both might have had similar life experiences prior to meeting each other. I sense kindred spirits, where both are very empathetic and understanding of one another. This makes for a close and intimate relationship. This is a couple that holds hands and have late night chats from dusk to dawn. You feel so drawn to each other as if this is destiny, and truly it is.
In every sturdy relationship there is friendship. You don't stop being friends just because the connection has gone romantic. This friendship has trust and closeness as its core. No matter what happens around you or how life has changed, the love between you remains sturdy and resilient. You both know you have each other's backs.
You fill the gap in one another. When one is lacking or less proficient in one matter the other is stronger at it so you both work seamlessly as a team. This dynamic is more prominent when it comes to day-to-day life as well as work or tasks. You are both practical individuals who like to lead active, productive lives. You constantly motivate each other. This supportive rapport is one of the things that connect you both so closely.
Intimately, this is a couple that likes to be pampered and just enjoy each other's touch and presence. You'd likely enjoy perfume, essential oils or candlelight during intimate moments. Slow dances by sensual music, taking a bath together while having quiet chats. Life is slower when you are together, for it is spent with enjoyment and slow delight. You enjoy exploring each other's ergonomic zones, enjoying and relishing in the tender moments. They might surprise you with the things they say to you, determined to arouse you with their dirty tongue and wild imagination. The desire stretches beyond the bed even into mundane things like giving you a massage after a long day, making you coffee, surprising you with flowers. You will be very giving to each other. Random surprises and gifts will be a constant theme in your love life.
They'd just like a taste of you. You keep them intrigued and drawn, like you are a mystery they want to indulge in over and over again. This intrigue you inspired in them has been present ever since they know you. Slowly they want to get to know who you really are, why you do the things you do, the nature of your chemistry. To you, they are this grounding rock that makes you feel so secure and loved. They are your constant, and you complete each other in more ways than one.
Tumblr media
Pile 3
Cards: The World, Four of Swords, Eight of Swords (r), The Sun
This is an unlikely couple. You both seem to come from different worlds or backgrounds. You were not each other's type at first and there are very little things that really connect between you. The connection itself is very refreshing and different to what you both have had in your dating history. How would you enhance each other? Simply, because you are so unique to one another, you are able to show each other the slice of life that offers a different perspective. What previously was thought to be worlds apart quickly integrate as one as you explore the differences in one another and quickly find what is similar — the thirst for life and the unwillingness to fit inside a box.
You are not one to back down from making your voice heard. You are opinionated, fiery, you take action towards what you want. They respect that fire in you. They themselves are assertive and like a good debate, although they are usually more chill and easygoing. You share similar views on certain topics, but different opinions on others. When views clash and you feel yourselves pulled into different directions it's when you openly debate your beliefs but would still be respectful and willing to listen to each other.
This connection begins with this dynamic until sparks fly. When they do fly and you realise there is more to each other than just bickering friends, the realisation that you're in love would be quite a shocking revelation. Like, you'd both backpedal and not sure of what you're feeling at first. They'd likely try to rationalise their feelings, and you'd likely try your hardest to ignore what you're feeling and show how uninterested you are. Love is love though, and the attraction is too strong to ignore. I see that for some of you the confession would happen in a heart-to-heart talk, for others of you it will happen in the spur of the moment when neither of you could hide it no more and you just... let it all out. Despite all, you are a couple that will always be honest with each other and supportive of one another. Independence and honesty are major themes of this relationship. When both of you make the decision that you're going to be together there's no stopping you. You'd begin to plan the future around each other. The love seeps into your daily lives as the bedrock and constant rhythm, showering love and support. You keep each other going. You give each other a purpose. If you both commit to a project or task, you can trust that you'd both make the best of it.
When it comes to the intimate dynamics, you or your partner might be a switch, or one of you might be the Dominant while another the submissive. There is a D/s dynamic for sure, and both of you might switch it up sometimes. I hear, “stroke my ego”, the dominant person enjoys having their ego stroke and to be the king in the bedroom. Playing a submissive character that's so different from their usual self excites the submissive so much. The fantasy of being at their partner's beck and call is a major turn-on. The sexual chemistry is intense and fulfilling.
Tumblr media
Pile 4
Cards: Three of Cups (r), The Hierophant, Judgement, Two of Wands
You both find your dream come true in each other. There is an obsessive undertone in this relationship, not in a toxic sense. You're both so drawn to one another that you'd feel the attraction pulling you in right from the bat. It starts first as flirty with a sexual undertone. You might want to slow down before it catches fire, but it's your call. They might make their desire obvious, while some of them might try to hide it at first.
Although it starts off as sexual attraction, whether or not you choose to bed, you'd grow to know each other as the person you are. It's as if it all clicks, you have similar interests and might have similar aspirations for the future. You'd start to share in each other's lives in the form of hobbies and shared projects. Learning to be comfortable in each other's presence is a big theme when you first get together as friends. Soon this connection solidifies into mutual rapport, and this is when romantic feelings start to bud between you.
Inside every person is a rabbit hole that goes deep within, containing layers and layers of self. They help you discover your true self in a liberating, enlightening way. It's with their openness and readiness to accept you that you begin to step into your true power, embrace your flaws and accept the person who you truly are. On the other hand, through interactions with you they'd begin to see their own flaws. This would likely cause them to question themselves in self-reflecting ways, whether they've been wrong, how to be a better person and so on. Some of their old perceptions might shatter, to be replaced with new insight. You are mirror reflections of each other, as through the eyes of one another you will see yourselves without bias or ego. This dynamic feels very spiritual and raw, as a cleanse is in order before you step into a relationship with renewed selves. The past has to go.
You are a couple that likes to experiment in the bedroom, or rather outside of it if you catch my drift. You like risk and spontaneity when it comes to love-making. I see kinks like exhibitionism, anal play and sex toys. They might be fond of tattoos. You might like to swim together. The beach (or nudist beach) might be your favourite places to enjoy intimate moments at.

Some financial advice that may be actually helpful
Based on one of y'all (sorry, I'm lazy, I'm not scrolling back) mentioning the terrible advice of "Make six figures."
Like, bitch. I'm TRYING.
But, let's say you live in a shocking world where you don't pull six figures out your bosses's ass every year. How can you make small financial changes that can lead to larger financial security?
These are all utterly subjective and based on things I've either actually done or just observed. I'm gonna try to skip over shit like, "shop for clothes second hand!" because shit like that can require a HUGE time commitment, and it's not even always worth it.
Anyway:
If your grocery store has a free rewards program (you put in your phone number or email address), get that set up. Yes, it will track what you purchase. But it also means when you get coupons in the mail, they're for things you actually buy. In our two-person household, we can save anywhere from 0-15 bucks a week depending on how coupons land.
If you can get a grocery card with fuel points (Fred Meyer and Safeway do it here in the PNW), you can save LOADS on gas. A dollar a gallon easily.
Also do any pet store reward programs that might be available. As the Bean does not require a great deal all the time, her rewards build up slowly, but every few months, we get enough points to get ten or twenty bucks off a purchase.
Do NOT buy in bulk if you're not gonna eat in bulk. Five pounds of rice is great if you eat rice regularly, but if you only have it every now and again, smaller portions of boxed rice are likely a better option. The same is true for any dried foods. Yeah, it's shelf stable, but it takes up more of the shelf. That could hold the stuff you actually eat steadily.
Frozen fruits/veggies are as healthy as fresh. And they'll stay ready to eat a lot longer. Consider that with how you eat and how much you eat a certain vegetable. It may be better worth your money to have three bags of frozen broccoli in your freezer than to keep buying fresh broccoli you forget to use in time.
If you're looking at a generic that says "Compare to BRAND NAME." It's the same formula. That's why they can say that. The reason it's cheaper is because the copyright or trademark costs money. Take that off, and boom. Cheaper cost for the same stuff.
If you have a car, know the way you drive it and how that can affect it. For example, if you do a lot of city driving, your transmission and (if applicable) stick shift are gonna wear down faster than you might expect. It's not always mileage. It's starting and stopping. However, if you drive long distances without stopping a lot (rural areas), your higher mileage car may not need any work on those things. Get your oil changed and your tires checked, and know what to look out for in terms of the kind of car you have and the driving you do. For example, we have less than 100k miles on our 15-year-old car, but we've mainly used it for city driving. We had to get the clutch re-built a few years ago, and last year we had to get the transmission goos updated because they'd run dry. These aren't surprising needs for a city-driven stick shift that's over ten years old.
There's a schedule to big shit going on sale in the US. Mattresses are a big thing around Memorial Day for some reason (Support the Fallen Troops by...fucking???). Electronics go big on sale before school starts and on Black Friday. Memorial Day is also big for cars, as is the 4th of July. If you hand make anything, certain colors of stuff go on sale before major holidays. Orange and black before Halloween. Red, green, and white before Christmas. Pastels before Easter. Etc.
Consider how much use a product will get before you decide you can or can't spend a little extra on it. Do 300-count sheets do the job? Yes. But speaking from recent experience, the 1500-count sheets feel so much nicer, which makes sleeping so much nicer, and I use them literally every single night, so the initial investment works out to basically the same even if I'd gotten cheaper sheets.
But also, stuff like sheets and comforters and stuff go on sale at various times! And your bed ain't gonna go through a growth spurt! Keep an eye out for those deals and scoop up the super soft stuff at a discount if you can!
And lastly on this main list, a very very important thing coming from a former poor kid: Fucking treat yourself. You know how much money you have. You know how much money you need. Maybe it's not hard to treat yourself because you're financially solvent, and in that case, this advice isn't for you. It's for those of us who have struggled to deviate at all from our list of NEEDS to give ourself even a very small WANT because WHAT IF I NEED FIVE BUCKS IN TWO DAYS. I get it. I do. To my bones. And I say fucking treat yourself, and if in two days, you suddenly need five bucks, do NOT feel bad that you got yourself a little something. You can't see into the future, and catastrophizing is so bad for you. Trust me. I know. Just. Remember, in all of this, give yourself a little focused care, okay?
All of that being said, a few more general points:
Dish soap is made to break up grease and oil, and it's commonly antibacterial. This makes it fucking perfect for cleaning your shower (covered in your greases and oils) and your bathroom in general (same reason). I don't recommend it for your toilet, but that's a personal preference based on zero research. The point is, most of your bathroom can be cleaned with dish soap. Get all your stuff off your counters. Make a thin layer with the dish soap. Let it sit for five to ten minutes. Scrub. Bonus: You can breathe the whole time.
Vinegar kills germs. Like, lab-tested kills germs. You can clean your kitchen with Vinegar and Borax (odor-reducer), and it costs a fraction of buying the kitchen-branded cleaners.
Borax is also great as an addition to laundry soap for odor-reducing reasons. So, even the cheap laundry soap is more effective with Borax.
"But Gayle, you can make your own laundry soap if you--" Yes, I know. And it's cool you know that. But it takes TIME to make laundry soap, and time is the only thing less reliable than money when it comes down to it.
Look up "No Buying" options in your area. This is usually a Facebook group or maybe a subreddit. The goal is that no one in the group wants to buy or sell anything. They just have stuff they want to get out of their house. It's not a 24/7 goldmine, but it's a once-a-day scroll through that could lead you to a pricey item for free!
If you have stuff that says "handwash," and you think, "Okay, I want to, but that's a whole new task." Nah. Just take a shower and bring it with! Hell, wear it in if you have to. I do this a LOT. Use the water and your soap (which, as it's likely a body wash or soap, will break down those skin oils and such) and give it a good washing while you stand there. Then, squeeze out the excess water and toss that thing over the shower rod. If you have a drying rack, use it. But if you don't, just leave it where it is and leave the fan going. It'll take care of itself. Just double check the label to know if hot water is a bad idea and if you need to lay flat or hang dry. If you need to lay flat, super squeeze the water out and lay it flat wherever you can.
And, lastly for this long post: If you need the expensive shit, buy the expensive shit. I have celiac and MCAS. My bread is five bucks a loaf. Peanut Butter fucks up my histamines. Almond fucks up my histamines. I need five dollar bread and fucking cashew butter to make a fucking sandwich. But the other option is getting sick from putting stuff in my body my body will fight against, and trust me, those urgent care visits stack up.

You might need to take some distance you are too in your head overthinking and analyzing a situation already done. You think you can change the outcome or your faults, or even what happened. It happened, that's it, you don’t need to understand or « crack the code ». Do you have a god complex? What’s the point to try to make a list or the things that went wrong. It won’t make you feel lighter and won’t prevent any situation from repeating itself, it does not work like that. The only element who is changing and evoluate is you. Learn more about your needs and how to set boundaries. And you don’t need to be loud to do so. Shading your old skin can mean accepting who you are and stop feeling guilty to not be as loud or flamboyant as the others. Discover your « style » and stick to it, don’t be fake in order to please the crowd or what you think is cool. The ones that you wish to imitate run towards their own destruction, behind the curtain is not that pretty.

Somebody is trying to take shortcuts. This is a stern and serious warning for you to stop. The mushrooms, those motherfuckers, are not plants nor animals in biology they let a lot of scientists circumspect, cause they have their own category. What this card wants you to remember: even in the dark life finds a way to reappear. Your head is polluted with negative thoughts. Are you worried about the news or the state of earth? To a certain limit you are right, but being over informed won’t help, you would not be here reading this… A journalist is going to say A and another one the complete opposite. And you will be in the middle wondering where the truth is. If it is not about the actuality, maybe it is your worries. I’m asking you to keep hope, you will pass through it. (listen to soft play « do something »).
Try to find something even small that you like, i won’t ask you to laugh out loud, a small comforting thing is good enough. And by the way, enough with tik tok, small but not poisonous!

You are carrying extra baggage because of difficulties you have experienced before. You are like a lily growing from muddy waters. What happened before makes you rock bottom multiple times. So you need to take care of yourself, I don’t want to say trauma, but it looks like it, and it prohibits you from living and blooming. You are hiding yourself in the dark, I don't why you enjoy that! Even the bat recognizes the need for companionship and solidarity. You’ve been hurt and developed a mechanism which is no longer needed and efficient, find a new one. Get out from this muddy water, and get some light, winter is over and we are in the seasons of the light.
You are going to receive a proposition to do something new, say yes. You’ll be nervous but go, you will like it even if you won’t admit it. Be brave.
Thank you for reading my pick a card. Good night good day.

MR. LOVERMAN, CHAPTER 1
[series masterlist] [chapter 2] [chapter 3]
in which, the newly divorced teacher across the hall from you is more charming than you expected.
Tumblr media
“Hey, have you introduced yourself to the new guy?” Asks your co-worker, and best friend, Sam. The two of you sharing lunch in solidarity of your classroom. Most of the time, the lunch wave was spent between the two of you talking about crazy things students said or airing out problems either of you had with other co-workers. Today, it seemed like it was going to be about the new science teacher that everyone and their mom was obsessed with.
Mr. Pascal transferred to your school just this year, replacing the old science teacher that retired the previous year. From what you understood from students, along with some teacher, he was an absolute heart throb. You were lucky enough to have your classroom across from his, so you’ve seen him a few times — but you never got a chance to actually speak to him yet. “No,” you reply. “I’ve been meaning to, though. Is he nice?”
Sam nods, taking a bite of their salad while leaning back in the uncomfortable spinny-chair. “I thought so. We talked briefly, I asked him how long hes been teaching and why he moved here n’ such.” they hum, “I think I made him uncomfortable.”
“How would you have done that?” Sam for the most part, in front of other adults – lacks a certain filter, though you would still have expected longer before Sam would say something to make the new guy uncomfortable. “When I asked about why he moved here, he told me it was his recent divorce.. I think she cheated on him or something, he wasn’t excited to talk about it.”
“Most people wouldn’t be,”
“Hey! In my defense, I thought he was just going to say the pay was higher or something! Not my wife left me!” after a moment of silence, Sam continues. “How haven’t you introduced yourself yet? He’s right across the hall from you.” To which you shrug, “I just haven’t had the time yet. Things are so busy, the year just started.”
Tumblr media
For the rest of the day, Sam’s words stick with you. Hes right across the hall, and you haven’t had the decency to even say hello to him. Though, you wonder if he was really bothered by it, maybe he would introduce himself to you by now.
The last five minutes before the bell rings is normally an unproductive time, students are packed up and standing by the door, so you never actually continue “bell-to-bell” teaching philosophy, it just doesn’t work out, and if you’re being fair, you’re far too tired at the end of the day too. “Miss,” one of your students says, breaking out of your concentration to the computer screen, you turn to see what the student might want, to your surprise, they only point to the teacher in your doorframe, Mr. Pascal.
“Sorry to bother you,” He says, his voice is deeper than you imagined it to be. Catching you by surprise just a little bit, “I need to print some things, and I can’t quite get the grasp on how to work the one down the hall. Can you help me out?”
The printer was a tricky thing, theres a card swipe, password, authorization and then how many you want printed. To anyone who doesn’t quite know how to work it – you had a difficult time when you first started.
“Yeah, its a major pain in the–” you cut yourself off, realizing that you’re still in the presence of teenagers, and while “ass” is not really a “bad word” and they most definitely say worse things, you still have to watch your mouth. You stand and make your way out of the classroom, making sure you had your lanyard. “Have you sent the papers to the printer?” you ask, to which he nods. “It’s just not showing on the little screen thing.”
The printer isn’t that far of a walk, but it feels like it was one hundred miles. Especially since the silence between you two. “I’m Y/N, by the way.” you say after the tension proved to be too much for you, “I’ve heard a lot about you.” The printer seems like its getting further away rather than closer. Though he chuckles at your comment, “Good things, I hope.”
“You can say that.”
Another chuckle, followed by “My name is Pedro, it’s very nice to meet you, officially.”
You smile softly to him, as you get to the printer, finally.
“Okay– swipe your card here, and then put in the code they gave you–the one on the back of your ID card.” He does as you say, and much to his relief, he finally saw the access granted. “The printers here are tricky, take a while to learn.” you laugh, watching him put in the number he needed, and listened to the printer whirl as it started to work.
“At my old school, they just let us have printers in our room—I was very upset to learn that thats not allowed here. Unless you’re an art teacher.”
“They don’t allow a lot of things, some teachers do it anyway. I keep a mini fridge hidden under my desk.” you laugh, “Sometimes, we’re no better than the students.”
He hums, “I guess so. Though, it would be very hard for me to hide a printer under my desk.” to this, you nod. “I guess it would be.”
Hes a lot more attractive up close than when you’re standing across the hall from him, the grays in his beard compliment him nicely, which isn’t something that happens for most people very often. You also like his sense of style, the black button up paired with the dark blue tie, the dark dress pants with the slim belt he wore—you can’t deny that men who know how to dress themselves seem to be more attractive than most. You can see what everyone was saying, he was a heart throb. You can’t help but wonder, what kind of person would cheat on that. “Thank you so much,” he says, turning over to you. Its only now that you notice his tie is decorated with little planets and constellations. How appropriate for a science teacher.
“Its no problem, let me know if you have any other problems, always happy to help.”
“I’ll make sure to keep that in mind.”
Tumblr media
“So,” Sam says, their voice is sing-songy, like they’re trying to hide something they’re clearly excited about. “I heard that you and Mr. Pascal have been spending a lot of time together between classes, you’re not trying to replace me, are you?”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” you laugh, grabbing a water from your mini fridge. “He’s new, he’s just needed help with a few things and I’m right across the hall.”
“Thats not what Jenny said!” Their tone is still playful, though they’re pointing their finger to you, accusatory. “Jenny doesn’t know me,” you respond. “She said we were dating when I first started here!”
“Fair point.” Sam shifts in their chair, “So you haven’t been hanging out with him?”
“Well, not between classes, but I occasionally go into his classroom to help him with websites and such.” your smile is tight, you didn’t realize just how often you two had been sharing time in his classroom the past few weeks. “He’s really sweet, you know. I get why the students like him.”
“They like him because hes good looking.” Sam replies, you raise your hands, “I said what I said.”
Sam lets out a laugh, “So you’ve fallen into the ongoing list of people captivated by this man?” they ask, as if they weren’t pretty high on the list themselves. “Not that I’m one to talk.”
You shrug, “I dunno if I’d say I’m captivated. But I can admit hes very good looking,” if anyone was a winner of the genetic lottery – it was Florence Pugh and Mr. Pascal. “This is highly inappropriate talk for work,”
Pedro was newly divorced, surely, the last thing on his mind would be the younger english teacher across the hall from him, right? Thats what you stuck to telling yourself. Every time you hovered over his chair while pointing out how to work the teacher-portal to the grading site or how you thought he was looking at you in the break room during quick conversations, even if he was looking for a relationship – there were plenty of single teachers closer to his age he would be more interested in. Like Jenny, who seemed to ruin your small moments in his room.
“Thank you so much, Y/N. Seriously, I would be lost without you.” Pedro huffs, looking up to you, your triumphant smile evident, after many explanations and pointing, you finally taught him how to set up his smartboard screen to be different than his computer screen. “You flatter me, Pedro.” you tease. Going to take a seat back in the chair you had pulled up earlier. He smiles his normal soft, heart-warming smile – “So uh, I’ve been thinking –”
“Ms. L/N!” Jens voice comes in, she sounds happy to see you, but anyone knew that was forced. As much as teachers are forced to come across as one big happy tight-knit family in front of students and parents, if you throw in 100 something people together, not everyone is going to get along. This just happens to be the case for you and Jen, or Jenny — luckily for you, she teaches art downstairs. So you rarely have to interact, but shes been spending a lot more time upstairs as of late. Unfortunate for you. “It’s so funny that I caught you here, I was just looking for you in your room. One of my students was talking about some assignment you posted, they got confused about it n’ I told them to talk to you, I had to talk to Mr. Pascal, so I walked with them up here, figured when you weren’t in your room this is where you’d be.”
“Thanks, Jen.” you reply, slowly standing up, your attention turns back to Pedro, who seems upset that you’re leaving before he could finish what he had to say. “Hold that thought for me, okay?” he only nods in response, watching you walk out the door. It's too bad, too, he should really learn to close his classroom door whenever you come by, perhaps this way there would be less distraction, and less of Jenny.

Digimon Tamers: Brave Tamer - Final Thoughts
Phew! If you're wondering why I've been quiet for a bit, it's because this game took me 3 weeks to beat. It was kind of grueling at times. It definitely assumes that you played the previous 3 (or 4 if Anode and Cathode count for 2) games and does NOT baby you at the start. It definitely wasn't my favorite game in the series, but the fact that it did away with the terrible old Jogress system earned it a lot of points in my book. There are still some Wonderswan games to play, but I think that's really it for Ryo games! Thank goodness :)
Notes:
Major downgrade from D1 Tamers visually! D1 was so colorful and exploring the world was actually interesting. Brave Tamer follows the Digimon World 2 strat of making every single dungeon pretty much identical and the hub world is bland as heck as well. You don't even need to travel to get to the dungeons you just walk up to the same hole every time. Lame.
Thank God this game lets digimon level up and evolve normally. It basically follows the Pokemon style of evolution. In previous games there were bullshit level caps unless you jogressed a zillion times. This game still has that dumb mechanic where your digimon devolves into a baby. I get that that happens in the show, but it felt pretty silly in the game. They get back to normal pretty quickly after a few battles.
Digimon recruitment is limited to borrowing digimon from digidestined from the various anime series. What an awkward concept. Ryo comes out of nowhere to save the day and then each partner digimon is like "See ya partner, I'm ditching you for Ryo!" I'm just imagining the characters that are left partner-less facing certain doom after Ryo leaves lol. Maybe it's one of those situations where they're only gone for a few minutes due to dimension hopping.
The card slash system (based on the Tamers universe of course) was interesting, but kind of annoying to figure out. After I got a handful of strong cards I couldn't be arsed to keep trying new jogress combos.
Speaking of taking the lazy route, I didn't use the majority of the digimon I recruited once LOL. It's more efficient to just stick with the same digimon for the whole game unless you want to spend a lot of time grinding, so that's what I did. I ended up with only mega-level digimon at the end which is frustrating because MegaloGrowmon and Taomon were at level 30! (They upgrade to mega at 31).
The bosses were strangely easy in this game (except for one that took me like 5 tries). What made it hard were the frickin' labyrinthine dungeons (the last one is TIMED! Evil). I have a terrible sense of direction IRL and in video games so the dungeons in this game were torture for me. You have to traverse up to 5 floors and sometimes there are so many dead ends and roadblocks that it takes what feels like an eternity. Also, there are random battles every 2 seconds that increase the suffering. In the later game I planned my route ahead of time by figuring out where the boss was on YouTube and mapping backwards from there. Here's a screenshot of me and my map in MS Paint:
Tumblr media
(By the way, I always play Wonderswan games in windowed mode or else they look wonky. This time, that really came in handy).
I had to use multiple guides to figure out some of this game because the most popular walkthrough wasn't very good. It barely gives you any instructions on getting through dungeons, which was what I really needed.
Most scandalous part of this game was when Millenniummon called Ryo his lover (koibito)? Whaaaaa...?
I didn't realize that this game is a prequel to Tamers so I kinda did things out of order, whoops! I didn't realize that Cyberdramon was supposed to be the outcome of a Monodramon/Millenniummon jogress. Makes me want to rewatch some bits of the anime...
There was so much dramatic build up for the final battle and then it was so easy? I didn't even need to use the 10 low-level healing items I stocked up on. Oh well, guess I was well prepared.
Of course there's a post-game where you can scan all the digimon you missed, but that just seems silly. They're not partners in this game, they're cards. If I can't a raise a digimon I don't really see the appeal in collecting them all. (I mean I guess I wouldn't see the appeal in raising them all either, but the cards seem like even more of a waste of time).
The Wonderswan games have always been my fave digimon games but this one felt simultaneously half-assed and overly complicated. I'd give it like a 5 or 6 out of 10. Let's call it a 5.5.

Since requests are open, would it be alright if I request something with Alcina with a girlfriend who was basically raised to embody the 1950's ideal woman? Always insisting she do all the housework, always trying to appear elegant and poised and dainty, always supporting their lover no matter what, and always going all out with their appearance: makeup, hairstyle, dresses, high heels, just to please Alcina? Only they actually enjoy doing all this?
If this is too uncomfortable for you I won't be upset if you don't do it, I was just curious.
characters; Alcina Dimitrescu x Fem! Reader
a/n; mm, to be a vampire's wife and dress pretty yes. my apologies for the wait, im a bit picky about how i write things and wanted this to be just right 😭🙏
warnings; natta
Tumblr media
Okay, Alcina is indeed a woman of class. So while you do fit in with her appearance and everything, she feels guilty thinking you're just doing this for her sake of keeping a good image.
"Oh Y/N darling, you don't need to do all of this to please me."
"What? Oh no, Alcina, I enjoy doing this."
Oh my. You like doing this? She's absolutely thrilled. And very much relieved. Oh my god, she thought that maybe you thought she had certain expectations and SHE FELT SO BAD.
Alcina absolutely loves you but y'know she kinda insists you don't do much house work. "We've got our lovely little maids for that Draga." You just look at her and shrug. "Keeps my hands busy while you're working hon." Oh well. Happy wife, happy life.
She does like it when you give the cooks a day off and make dinner yourself. It's something about you making it, it tastes different. Even the girls do. Sometimes they bug their mother while she's working asking if you're the one cooking.
"Mother? Motherrr??"
"Yes Dani."
"Is Y/N cooking dinner tonight?"
"Let's see… they agreed to give the chef Fridays and weekends off… Mm, I'm afraid not my dear."
"Let's just fire them."
"Your darling mother wouldn't agree with that."
she likes watching you though, it's odd. Hardly was there domestic moments in Castle Dimitrescu before you showed up.
Another thing. Alcina and the girls absolutely do NOT trust anybody, even the maidens with cleaning their rooms and spaces. But you? Alcina doesn't mind, and she adores it. You've clearly paid enough attention to her to know where every little thing goes. Her lipstick? Neatly placed on top of a washcloth in her bathroom drawer. Messy documents? Neatly stacked at her now cleaned desk. You even refilled her ink jar.
She's swooning oh my. She's literally holding herself back from buying a wedding ring and proposing on the spot. Visualize that TikTok with the guy pounding his credit card against the desk. That's her.
On the other hand, the girls don't really mind it, but when they know their rooms are due for a cleaning they quickly throw their messy teacups at the dishwasher and are hiding whatever needs to be hidden.
And your little outfits? She finds them so adorable and honestly it's comforting. she was born a little after the 1950s, so seeing a familiar thing is comforting.
REALLY REALLY ENJOYS HELPING YOU WITH YOUR MAKE-UP AND EYESHADOW. She'll hold your face and be carefully applying it and you're there watching her eyes and her little tongue sticking out as she's just totally concentrated.
Sometimes you're just totally in awe by her and get startled by her releasing her gentle hold on you and going "Finished!" Please this woman melts the minute you look in the mirror and smile so big. she was hesitant about doing it when you asked first, but her confidence blooms when you point at hers and go "Can you do it like yours please?"
She enjoys you telling her about different eyeshadow palettes you got and different lipstick shades. Definitely agrees with allowing you to practice different techniques on her, and will proudly flaunt them. Sometimes she's in a meeting and Heisenberg is looking at her like 🤨
"Something's different."
"Mind your business child."
Donna notices her adoptive sister's wearing a different shade of eyeshadow and this causes Angie to ask.
"Hey Beanstalk, what's up with your look?"
"It's Alcina, and my lovely little Y/N did my makeup today."
Angie deadpans.
Okay clothes wise, Alcina probably has alot of vintage dresses and wardrobe stored away. Not exactly 1950s but hey. After her implant with the Cadou, she did grow remarkably taller, and she couldn't fit them anymore. It made her quite upset, so she stored them away. But now you're here!
She pulls them out and has you do a whole fucking fashion show. She's so happy you're marveling at them, and honestly so thrilled they have a new purpose. And she lovessss it when you wear them while accompanying her occasionally to a meeting.
Hair wise, Alcina just adores whatever style you go with. She tries helping you with the curling but she burned herself one time and started cursing like a sailor. You wanna cut your hair? She's a bit sad to see your long hair go but will happily snip it. or accompany you to a professional your choice.
Babes will one hundred percent hold your high heels when your feet get sore from them. She'll carry you too, cause she'll be damned if you hurt yourself.
Enjoys the smell of your perfumes. sometimes when you're away for awhile, sayyy helping in the village because somebody broke something and can't run their shop, she'll spray a bit on herself and is just like >:( "They better be home soon".
The sight of you two together? has her smiling so much. She hired a painter to do a portrait of you two and the girls. Has it smack in the middle of the living area.
hehe i hope you enjoyed thank you for requesting :)

Summary: You're barely gifted, abilities only working under certain circumstances but perhaps Anthony brought you on because of your ability to make excellent flare bombs and the like. But what happens after a small argument and the both of you are together at the party?
I'm not British, so please excuse me if something isn't right.
TW: Arguing and idiots in love
Tumblr media
He's stubborn, always has been and you're pretty sure that's how he'll stay until he dies. Always set in his ways and never changing unless he needed to, unless it seemed convenient for him.
Though at this point, you're used to it, having worked for Anthony for months, only a little after George came to work with him. You could never really understand why he wanted you to work with him.
Ever since a young age you barely had gifts, only hearing everything faintly until it was almost too late or only being able to know the source with estimation. Your parents hadn't appreciated that, your mom taking you to the doctor when you were young, asking what was wrong with your gifts. The doctor had only explained that sometimes, that was just how things went.
You flipped the invitation over in your hands, trying to see if there was anything else to it. "There is no way this isn't a trap," you voiced, looking up at Anthony and handing him back the card.
He only gave you a pointed look, one that said that you wouldn't have any say in the matter of if you were all going or not. "You have been saying that you need a dress," he pointed out, trying to use the Lockwood charm that had worked on the workers in the graveyard.
You didn't want to think about the graveyard, even without the proper abilities like Lucy or George had, the mirror still had the same effect on you. With your hands pressed against your ears, the sound of flies buzzing loudly in each one, the urge to hurl growing by every passing second that the net wasn't on the grave.
Crossing your arms, you glare at him, not one to easily back down either. "Under different circumstances." Sighing, you sit down and look at the other two, George and Lucy already starting to edge their way out of the room, not wanting to experience another explosive fight. "Think about it Lockwood, they know all you want is to be up there with the big dogs. Using this against us and if your ego wasn't so big then you would see that," you said calmly, trying to hide the growing anger that was coming out gradually.
Lockwood only seemed to stand straighter, an 'I know something you don't' smile on his face, a look you either wanted to slap off of him or kiss out of him. Perhaps this was the fight needed for him to pull his head out of his ass and do something about both of your feelings.
"Why would they want to lure us into a trap?" He asked, knowing that you had no probable reason for the four of you not to go. Even then, with the book being there and the advantage that it would give you four above Kipps who had been on your heels the entire time.
Clenching your jaw, you scoffed and leaned into the chair, a triumphant look on his face at your movements. "I needed a new dress anyways," you say in a defeated manner and the victory on his face grows brighter as he looks at you. You mock his look and then get up from the chair, passing Lucy and George.
"You may not want to stick around for the war, got messy last time," George whispered to Lucy, his voice an almost haunted manner from the last time that Lockwood waved away your worries.
You only shook your head at them before grabbing Lucy's hand. "Might as well make this a girl's trip then," you said, not waiting for Anthony's secondary input.
--------------------------
Being at the party didn't make you feel like it was any less of a trap. All of the fake smiles and backhanded compliments that you received as you walked through the crowd, trying to find the food table or something to drink. They all knew who you were with, questions about the Hope house and its burning were being thrown at you and you were sure that, unlike Lucy, none of them wanted you near them.
It's a few minutes later when Anthony stops at your side. "Cheery isn't it?" He asks, grabbing a glass for himself.
A snort came from you and you ignored the glares sent to you by the posh folk and took a sip from your glass. "As a funeral," you said, eyes sweeping over the expanse of people at the party. "Where's Lucy?"
"Went to make friends, something I don't see you doing," he said, getting his usual licks in as much as possible.
A light and degrading laugh came from you, leaning your back against the railing that was near the table. "Nah, they don't want to talk to me, it's Luce they're after," you said, tugging down your dress that rode up on the side.
He nodded at your words, knowing that it was true. Before Lucy, it was just three people trying to make something of themselves. One was constantly mocked, and never taken seriously by anyone a step higher than the bottom. Then the second one was considered a strange individual and then when it came to you, well you were just half a step above normal with a knack for making explosives.
Taking another sip of your glass, you slid your gaze over to Anthony where he now leaned against the railing beside you. "Thought out of everyone you would be chatting everyone up, getting about five different business offers right about now," you told him, a smile crossing over your lips when a small chuckle left his.
"Only two."
You put your hands up in fake surrender. "My bad, only two then." Laughs left the two of you before settling into a comfortable silence. Comfortable silences was always something you two were good at, ever since your first day with him it seemed like an easy rhythm that the both of you could slip in whenever.
But they always broke, always broke by either the two of you or someone unwanted.
"I do agree now that we are here it does feel like a trap," he admits and all you do is nod, not letting the smile shine through.
You turn to face him fully. "Is that an apology?" You ask, face blank of all emotion but you're sure he can see the amusement in your eyes.
He shakes his head and stands up fully, straightening himself out again. "No, I'm simply saying that you were--"
"Right," you tease and he lets out an air of frustration at the situation at hand.
"Yes, you were right," he admits, joining you by your side once more. Once again you don't say anything but a smile tugs on your lips and a simple look over at him says that he's not amused in the slightest but you don't care.
Hands stay by your side and brush against each other, lulling back into a comfortable silence that only the two of you could do on such a whim.

how do you write the league of villians what are things to pay attention to when writeing them like with dialouge and gestures and stuff
Uhhhh, to be honest what I do is try to reread the manga a lot or write down certain chapters that help me with the characterization. Maybe another list would do it? Idk idk, I'm terrible with trying to explain myself today ejdndnjf. Let's try anyway.
Tips on what to pay attention to when writing the League of Villains:
1) You need to understand that the League is very individualistic.
If you compare the League of Villains to other teams like the Meta Liberation Army, then you will find out that the League really values their personal freedom and the ability to do as they please.
They have strong personalities that clash all the time, but they also know how to act together because they have a common goal. You need to be careful with those, because it's like handling the little threads of a puppet to make him walk in a certain direction.
Dabi tends to like working alone, but he always comes back when the LOV needs him. Twice is not very good in solo missions, but he's a real overkiller when he has someone he wants to protect or take care of. Mr. Compress doesn't like big fights and prefers to stick to subtle roles— he's the wild card of the team. Spinner is often in the support role, while Toga is the one with more secret missions among them. As the leader, Tomura is the main show and the most direct attacker.
I often try to categorize their dynamics and study how Horikoshi uses them in the manga.
2) Pay attention to how their backstories dictate how they see the world around them and how they interact with it.
A good characterization comes from knowing the character, understanding how they came to be and how they can grow. I suggest that you reread the manga and ask a lot of questions.
One of the best examples is Dabi. I've seen him depicted as this cool suave character, when in truth his very awkward!
There are several moments in the manga when a LOV member pointed out his low self-esteem or tried to comfort him over it. Toga said that he was running away because his fire couldn't hurt Gigantomachia, while Twice tried to cheer him up during the attack to the summer camp. He dances like a little kid when he gets excited and couldn't recruit one (1) good new member, the only one being a traitor. He's also very very dramatic, "falling from a second floor widow as I destroy a building" dramatic, which would be super aloof if it wasn't for Toga noticing that he did that to cheer her up after Twice died.
Another example is the difference between Dabi and Spinner:
Even when they are both Stain fanboys, they differ on what is a pro-hero and who gets to become one. Spinner is more idealistic, being a civilian kid that still has hope. Dabi is way more cynical, given that he knows by experience the inside workings of the Hero Society 'cause his dad was a pro-hero. On the other hand, Spinner suffered from a type of discrimination no one else in the League could understand.
They do not see the world the same way, so they won't react to it the same way either.
3) You don't want to turn them into a stereotype instead of the multifaceted characters they are.
I find that fandom spaces are deadly scared of making a character ooc or scared of turning them into a stereotype. I personslly think it's kinda silly to expect fan creations to be exactly like the main source.
Characters are defined by maaaany things like their past, their environment or the setting of the story, the current arcs, the message that the author wants to communicate, etc. They'll be different in each story, but the goal is not to write them to the point they are unrecognizable
If you're afraid of writing the LOV shallow or making them feel alien, remember: the most important part is to figure out the core of the character, aka those traits that cannot change under any circumstances or you'd be writing an original character.
Once you have those traits, you should focus on consistent writing. Every action must have an explanation, an origin. Create your own guidelines and stick to them.
For example, in my I Don't Dance au, Tomura leans into his "Tomura" persona for a healthier reason, but he still does it. AFO didn't force the identify change on him, instead Tomura took it as an artistic name to distant himself from the Shimura tragedy. While Tomura is still a shield for Tenko to hide behind, just like in the manga, giving him an artistic way to express his sorrow and guilt instead of a destructive quirk and the worst mentor figure ever— well, it gave me an excuse to make Tomura just as unwell, but a lot more sane and in control of his emotions.
He might be a bit ooc, but that's expected of an alternative universe where I changed a lot of his past! The important thing is that he's still a menace and that his issues are the same, just treated differently.
4) Like when you're learning a new language, you will have to exaggerate before you learn how to control their personal "accents".
Remember the essential traits I mentioned? One of them is the way they talk!!!!!
Try to think about the level of education they had, who were their friends, the socioeconomic status of their families, what jobs they worked in, what series they watch... Of course, you can ignore this and try to write them all on a basic vocabulary. This really depends on how deep you want to dive in the characterization.
You know that Dabi is really rude and that he grew up in a wealthy family. However, he'd try to hide his upbringing so as not to make others question him. You can write him talking more in the street style and maybe make him slip and add a witty comment from time to time.
Toga has a very kawaii talk. It's exaggerated when she's on beast mode. Like Dabi, Toga is pretending because she wants the world to perceive her as a little girl and not a monster. When Toga feels more comfortable she is kinda childish, but something closer to her age. She is more calm, more sober with her words.
This applies to the gestures too!
Spinner would try to act cooler because he wants to look like Stain, but he's a nervous wreck. You can write him as someone who tries to flex with his giant sword, while screams the most nerd stuff ever to exist.
In serious moments, Twice is able to look fully present, less divided; on the day to day he jumps from grumpy to childish with little worry. He's movement is probably clearer when in a fight and his words are more severe.
Mr. Compress acts like a coward, but when the time comes he's not afraid of the spotlight. He is not one to talk a lot. Theatric gestures like fixing his coat, his hat or his gloves are unique of him.
An exercise is to make them all say the same dialogue or do the same gesture, exploring how different can they perform under the same circumstances.
5) Know your limits as a writer or know when you want to explore / expand your range.
As a writer, you must know where you are, where you want to go and what you want to do. Or at least realize you don't know and that it's a new adventure for you!
Sometimes you'll have to write that fanfic and let it be for a while. You can reread it later and ask yourself what can be improved. Art is a process of failing and failing and taking notes of those failures, so you can get better.
Another good exercise is to read a lot of fics and study them. If you think a fic has good characterization, try to pinpoint what gives you that feeling. Be critical. Overanalyze. Complain on your own if you need to.
Instead of expecting it to be perfect on the first try, imagine you're building a stair. One step will not take you there. Work with one character at the time or with only one aspect, maybe the dialogues only. Focus on a part and then you can continue with others.
I'm aware of how general and vague I'm being, but I don't have specific rules for writing the League of Villains. I try to do the same thing I'd do with any other characters. So....
Hope this works for you too <3

hello, fellow hatchetfield fans! here are my stray nerdy prudes must die thoughts, which i'm going to try to keep brief (she said, before spending an hour writing this)
the production level of the show as a whole really blew me away. the lighting; demon!max's costume and makeup; even the way it was shot and edited felt even more electric than past shows
this is the only one of the full-length hatchetfield musicals to have one consistent antagonist throughout (black friday has linda but half the leads don't know about her at all until the climax, plus there's wilbur and wiggly). and i gotta say, max's actor really killed it. hilarious, terrifying, and even with moments of nuance. he repeatedly stole the show.
some of the songs are already stuck in my head. off the top of my head i can't think of any that stood out in a bad/unmemorable way (though i could just be forgetting them, lol). ruth's song in particular i think is gonna really stick with me once i listen to it a few more times.
and i love the way the "i'm not a loser" motif gets used throughout the show. the closest any of the songs got me to having the visceral reaction i have to "did you know that i wanted to live with you" in "not your seed" and the bridge + ending of "let it out" ("i've never been happy...") was when richie sings that line right before... well.
speaking of richie: as a paul stan, what this show proved to me more than anything is that when jon matteson plays a sympathetic lead (or side character - hi daniel/stopwatch), he will always break my heart. he's just. really good.
thinking about how in the last of the originally planned 3 hatchetfield shows, initially conceptualized as the first, jon's character is the first one to sing, whereas in the first of those shows, conceptualized as the last, the whole crux of the musical is him refusing to sing, the audience essentially waiting for the moment he breaks and does it. thinking about how the opening of npmd tells us richie is going to die, already dying, already dead, while the opening number of tgwdlm tells us paul is the target, the Doomed Hero, the "star of the show" "destined to go viral" [read: get infected], whose story is going to be told, already written.
thinking about how singing dooms paul, and how richie singing "i'm not a loser", reigniting max's ire, is the final nail in his coffin.
...i'm normal.
there's a lot of meta jokes and nods of that sort throughout the show. maybe a few too many? like, at a certain point, as a fan, i do feel like i'm being pandered to a bit.
i liked the lords in black's scene, it was a lot of fun! it's always great to see jon get to let loose with crazy characters, and the others were great too. but i do wonder how it plays for people who haven't been following nightmare time stuff. like, i get that in one world this was our introduction to these characters, but even in that world, i wonder if including all five of them with their specific names and allusions to their individual deals is a bit too much for what the plot of this show needs. there's something to be said for not showing all your cards right away.
on the other hand, i feel like the paulkins coffee scene actually fully earned its inclusion: because when pete comes in asking for his hot chocolate, it reads differently when we're coming at it from having followed his perspective up to this point versus having been following paul in tgwdlm, in a way that strengthens both scenes. it's a nice reminder that emma and paul can be... rude, i guess. assholes, even (she really didn't need to spit in it). that idea of perspectives affecting how we categorize people arguably even plays into the themes of this show! how about that.
ah, yes, Themes. there are Themes to be drawn out of this show about the experience of high school, especially in an intertextual comparison to how tom and becky talk about their time in high school in black friday. something about how the two of them see it as this idealistic time they want to go back to, whereas the teens (the nerds/outcasts) in npmd sing that they'll "still despise it when [they're] gone". something about how in ruth's solo number, the fantasy future she imagines for herself (even in the context of it being a performance for an audience of no one) is of a standard, arguably dreary, middle-aged existence. there's definitely stuff there to be dissected.
and also there's arguably a theme of continuing cycles of cruelty, brought into focus by the ending, but also implied with the way the adults failed the kids (see max referencing his dad belittling him).
...but also, i feel like they could have done more with that.
that's my one big thing with this show, and it could very easily just be that the genre of this show isn't as much my jam, but i'll say it anyway: i wanted more from the characters, and more emotional weight in regards to certain things.
like, between this and tgwdlm, i think tgwdlm is still the better written show. there's just, a subtly to the characters there, a grounded human-ness, that i didn't quite get from all of the teens here.
as much as i clearly have a soft spot for richie, that's mostly on jon; as written, there really isn't much there, beyond "anime nerd" and "generally nice kid who wants to be liked". the scene right before he dies is comedic in how obvious it's setting things up, but its obvious-ness also makes it feel kind of cheap in terms of pulling on the heartstrings. similarly, ruth is initially just a gimmick (though hers at least ties into a deeper insecurity) and only gets her real moment of depth right before she dies. neither of them feel like they have much affect / haunting presence on the surviving teens once they're dead, past the initial shock of the reveals of their deaths.
and steph and pete are good, but... idk. i wanted a bit more from each of them. if they got to have a talk like paul and emma before "join us and die" - not even for the sake of the romance, but just for the sake of giving us more on each of them outside of their basic stereotypes and the romance - that would've helped, i think.
grace was great, though, no qualms. initially there was a part of me that was disappointed that the stereotype max was pushing on her about her being secretly repressed and horny was in fact true, but the way it gets used makes up for it, and in between max's death and when that specific thing comes up again in the climax, she gets to do a lot with the two conflicting sides of her personality, wanting to be good but having a capacity and arguable instinct for scheming and ruthlessness.
(also, as i mentioned earlier, max has a surprising amount going on, especially once you get into the Implications)
it could just be that i see those depths in the tgwdlm cast because i've had more time to chew on that cast, and that in time i'll see these teens in the same light. but i don't think it's just that.
i think part of it is how there are so many jokes about the teens being nerdy prudes (really, mostly just nerds). and like, that's part of the point, obviously, that they were being forced into those boxes and that they were still people with the potential to be more. but... i don't know if the show does enough to really make that point. again, richie doesn't really get to be more (and it's not for lack of time - there's a good amount of show before max comes back as the demon and kills for the first time).
in tgwdlm, the mains are all arguably based on stock characters, but they have more depth through their relationships. look at ted, the stock asshole sleazeball, who's shown to feel genuine remorse when he loses people he loves, in a way that contextualizes his bitterness. and there's a lot less highlighting of the stockness of them in their show than there is of the teens in npmd.
and the thing is, i think the cast of npmd at their foundations are more likable than the cast of tgwdlm (see the earlier point about emma and paul being assholes at times). they had a lot of potential. but i don't think enough of it is realized for the majority of them. the edges the tgwdlm cast has are part of what makes them compelling, and it's something the teens (minus grace) are largely missing.
the thing is, i know the fandom is going to see that potential and run with it. i know that they're gonna develop the teens' characterizations and relationships. i know they'll get into the trauma and the implications from everything that happened to them in the show. i know they'll get into... pete's survivor's guilt, and steph losing her dad(!!!), and what richie and ruth could have been, and all that. i know that they'll fill in the gaps. because that's what fans do. i guess i just wish there weren't so many gaps to fill. or, that the gaps wouldn't take so much effort from them to fill.
again, i acknowledge, maybe i'm expecting too much from the genre of show this is. it doesn't need to have A Point, i guess, it can just be fun, a comedic horror slasher in musical form. and it is fun, a lot of fun! ...but, tgwdlm was also a lot of fun. not as bombastic, for sure, but i'd say just as humorous. and it was also incredibly tightly written, and satisfying, with strong character arcs for multiple leads. it had commentary on musicals, on what makes a protagonist and what it means to be one, on conformity and institutions of authority, on romance even (you could do a very interesting aromantic reading of this show, trust me). and with a show that's titled nerdy prudes must die, that is About high school, there's, similarly, a lot you can do. and there's a fair amount of seeds planted there. but i don't think it all quite coheres. and it could've, if they really wanted it to.
...i did not keep that brief. ah well. i might disagree with half of this by the time i wake up tomorrow, i just needed to get it out of me. tl;dr, in my opinion, this show is stronger than black friday, but tgwdlm is still my favorite. all the cast and crew put a lot of love into this production and it really shows. i had a great time! :D but i'm always going to overanalyze things i care about as much as i care about the hatchetfield universe, and hence, here we are.

I played two games of Mario Party 9 not too long ago + a minigame mode!
First time through, I played as Bobby (Peach) with Hoppy, Kickin, and Picky (Daisy, Wario, and Birdo respectively). Kickin chose the board most likely (it was Blooper Beach anyways). So basically some interesting notes I picked up from that + potential hcs...
Kickin seems like he would be pretty good with minigames that require some skill. Bro literally got a perfect strike in Goomba Bowling. Funny enough, Picky also got a strike there- (she was determined ig). Ngl, Hoppy only got 13 points there, but I feel like she might've done better with that minigame (taking account the events that DID happen though, she probably was a little salty Kickin and Picky got it with that much ease-). Meanwhile Bobby didn't get any points. She tried copying what Kickin and Picky did, but... it didn't quite work out for her T^T
Okay, when it came to that and the previous minigame Player Conveyor, it made me think that Bobby isn't the best with certain minigames compared to others. She managed to get better in this round after the mini boss with Lakitu, though. (She struggled with that a little in the beginning but has pretty much gotten the hang of things by the time he was all mad and stuff-)
At one point, Kickin landed everyone on a 1v3 space and he picked the minigame Mob Sleds. I feel like, talking about characters here, he picked that thinking he wasn't going to get caught. But no joke- LITERALLY AT THE LAST SECOND BOBBY GOT TO HIM- Hoppy just dying laughing in the background and teasing Kickin when that happened. Picky was probably like, "Oh damn..." and Kickin is just sitting there with his jaw dropped like- "HOW?? HOW?!?!" (his ego got crushed there lol) Also, made me realize those Wario poses are literally him 💀
Tumblr media
By this point, Bobby has gotten a better hang of the minigames. She was likely more desperate to try to catch up at least since she was in last originally- The others are impressed but also probably like "Oh, now it is on!" with her lol (if we're talking character here, she may not be so desperate to the point she would make everyone else get in the path of Mini Ztars, which I feel bad about btw because that's literally what I made her do and then I was thinking back about that decision and made me realize that Bobby would've just taken the Mini Ztars for the party's benefit T^T Ig the excuse I could put here would be that she was desperate because she kept falling behind before)
She still didn't do THAT good with all the minigames though. Particularly Upward Mobility (she wasn't as fast with it as the others were; partially due to my own inability to win that minigame lmao). I think she also does the memory related ones well. She wouldn't have THAT good of a memory as Bubba ofc, but she did good in minigames such as Plunder Ground.
Btw, not only is Bobby a total tild card in the minigames, but she is also pretty much the group's savior. The second the event happened where Mini Ztars were filling the board she just happened to get the right number needed to reverse them back to Mini Stars. The group was probably relieved as heck when that happened-
HOPPY'S MINIGAME SHOWED UP AT ONE POINT :)) Unfortunately she didn't win though 😔 (she definitely would win that more going by character though) Kickin and Picky were neck and neck by the end, and Picky ended up beating him. He was pretty salty about that since he was sure he would win now that Hoppy's rocket fell behind (his ego recovered in that gap between Mob Sleds and Launch Break ig and now it cracked again lol). Bobby did lose ten mini stars from getting 4th this time tho since they got Launch Break through a Fire Bro battle minigame... (this is weird cuz like, you want to feel bad because she keeps getting the short end of the stick when she doesn't win. She got fourth in quite a few of the minigames where she didn't get first, but like- she's also doing very well with them at the same time 😶 She literally kept swapping between receiving 1st and 4th with BARELY an in between- Talking character though, I feel like she'd be more likely to get like 2nd or 3rd in minigames. When she loses though, OH BOY SHE LOSES-
By the homestretch, the party was getting more into the Bowser Spaces (not AS frequently as that one experience that was mentioned for a different round but it was still a lot). Mainly Kickin kept getting those spaces, and let's just say... my dude's got LUCKY with those! 2 times out of 3 he landed on giving mini stars to last place, but the thing is... HE IS IN LAST PLACE LMAO. HE JUST KEPT RECEIVING MINI STARS FROM BOWSER. Even in the one time Kickin didn't get that in the Bowser Roulette he still didn't lose Mini Stars. There was a reverse mini game at one point (Thwomper Room) and he WON. By that point, Kickin was just joking like- "BOWSER SURE LOVES ME TODAY". Hoppy and Picky were just rolling their eyes. Bobby in the background just listening but also being sad that she didn't get out first (she and Kickin got hurt by the thwomp around the same time, but Kickin seemed to have gotten to it a frame before she did TvT' Also ig the excuse for Bobby wanting to get out here is that she couldn't imagine the others getting hurt by the Thwomps lol- The others would be like "Sure sure..." She can be mean against them if she wants to, but probably wouldn't be so mean to the point that they can't recover).
Also thought it'd be funny to mention that during the homestretch, Bobby just to happened to get the lucky space TWICE that led the party to the star island, but Picky was always the one that won all the Mini Stars at the end. She really did get lucky there- After this point, most likely everyone was certain Picky was going to win considering where she stood between the rest of the party, so they started to get a bit tense about that I think lol.
Near the end with the Bonus Stars, I genuinely thought Picky was going to win the Minigame Star since she kept getting first in many minigames. I guess I didn't keep track of how often she did, tho- Bobby still won it despite how many times she got 4th in some of them (she has really gotten better near the end ig). Speaking of Bobby and Picky, Picky had a LOT of Mini Stars in general, but because of Bobby landing on the Boss Battle space, receiving first place from Wiggler AND the captain bonus, I'm pretty sure that was the upper hand she needed cuz SHE WON!! Nobody was mad completely though since she was getting kind of screwed during the rounds. Though I can imagine Hoppy used what Kickin said earlier about Bowser loving him to her advantage though since he ended in 4th lol. Hoppy herself got 3rd (she was a little salty about that since she thought she'd do better, especially with the minigames but they were surprisingly not her strong suit this time. Kickin probably tried to tease her back about that lol). Meanwhile, Picky was just proud of Bobby for winning, though deep down kinda sad because she thought for sure she would win ;v; Bobby beat her by ONE mini star lol. For context, Bobby got 71 Mini Stars, Picky got 70, Hoppy got 53, and Kickin got 46.
Alr, second time through, I decided to play as CatNap (Shy Guy) with DogDay (Toad), CraftyCorn (Yoshi), and Bubba (Koopa). The board chosen was Toad Road since two out of the four Critters in that round (DogDay and CraftyCorn as was mentioned before) have that as their favorite. So what happened here that could be potential hcs? Well...
Not TOO much happened at the very beginning. Though at 10 to Win, I can imagine Bubba was absolutely trying his hardest to remember where every single card was despite how scrambled they all were. He didn't do too badly, but some of the cards were mainly ones he didn't want to get completely. CatNap's the opposite I imagine. He just chooses whatever seems right. That didn't work too well for him in this round, though (he got last ;-;) Crafty kept getting cards that supported everyone from what I remember (probably relieved her to know she could've gotten worse than she did). Pretty sure DogDay mostly won because of the cards the others chose (like a 1st card Bubba ended up getting at some point, DogDay was in 1st at the time and I can imagine Bubba just facepalmed when he did that-)
Just want to mention that Shy Guy's fourth place animation did make me think of CatNap, though I feel like if CatNap showed how he'd react to last place, he would just sleep away his sorrows if he got last lol
Speaking of CatNap, I feel like he's a menace in Mario Party. Like, anywhere else he's pretty chill, but make him play a game? Oh, it's like there's another side of him sorta- (he still keeps his laid back energy but he's clearly having fun against the party) Mainly thought of that because of him getting a 1v3 minigame (Spike-n-Span) and he pretty much wasn't holding back. He got EVERYONE.
I guess Bubba learned about how easy it was for CatNap to win that minigame because literally when he landed on a 1v3 space himself, HE CHOSE THAT SAME MINIGAME- He probably leeches off of the experiences he witnesses in the game and uses what he has seen to his advantage (it doesn't help for the others that Bubba has really good memory so he would probably know what to do to win; this could go for Mario Party in general tbh). Unfortunately, Bubba lost the minigame that time- Ironically enough tho, CatNap got out first lol
Every time the party kept getting Bowser Jr spaces, it was because of DogDay. I find it funny that Bowser Jr always paired him with CatNap tho (probably bc of him being first player tbf tho). First Bowser Jr minigame they played together wasn't so good. They played Sand Trap, and CatNap was a little confused on what to do. DogDay wasn't faring much better though. I feel like he was mainly waiting to see what CatNap was planning so he took his time. When they lost that one, I feel a part of CatNap was probably thinking "If we go down then we go down together :>" but another part of him felt bad because he legit had no idea what he was doing. DogDay was likely assuring him after that, hopeful that they'd win against Bowser Jr again next time. Sure enough, when DogDay landed on another Bowser Jr space, they did :) That minigame was Double Pounder. The instructions were easier for them to understand by that point. CatNap didn't really mind that DogDay got Mini Stars too that time (pretty sure DogDay wasn't in first by that point from what I remember). DogDay was just happy the two were able to win together. Probably gave CatNap a small hug after that. (Meanwhile Bobby in the background is just going: AWWWWWW 🥹🥹)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh yeah, Crafty was just chilling with her first place status in the first half too. She had about 33 mini stars during that point. She's not exactly planning on bragging about her status. She was just internally hoping she wouldn't get destroyed later TvT (she got this ahead because of a lucky space she landed on where climbed up a vine and got all the mini stars in that area- 12 MINI STARS) At some point, CatNap was catching up to her in terms of Mini Stars so there likely was some tension by that point. Crafty is just scared but at the same time defensive about her stars. Meanwhile CatNap was probably just silently hoping something happens to her stars and that he can get ahead-
This especially shows when Crafty got the Captain event. She legit chose CatNap to go last 💀 She was hoping it would be less likely for him to get the stars at the end if he was last. For more context, she chose Bubba to go first, then either herself or DogDay, but considering she was still in first, I think she was thinking that she could get the Mini Stars if she rolled high enough, so she would've needed to be the third person to do that- Unfortunately, Crafty's ploy didn't go too well. CatNap STILL got the stars at the end. Pretty sure that made them even in Mini Stars by that point-
CatNap just casually dominating most minigames... Pretty much like that with minigames like Pinball Fall. My guy literally didn't fall down a hole ONCE during his run- I think he probably has a bit of luck similar to Picky but he also is genuinely determined to win and happy to see the others struggling in the minigames deep down. Doesn't exactly voice this, but if you paid attention to his expressions, you'd know
Also, I think CatNap just pretty much wins a lot of the Reverse Minigames. The minute he hears that's what happens when the group lands on a Bowser space, he's like "K. I always wondered what happened if I just willingly jumped into this" in the most casual tone. DogDay would just look back at him concerned-
Meanwhile for Bubba, poor guy barely won many of the minigames (much less end up in 1st). I feel like he would still do very well in certain minigames taking character into account. He probably wouldn't be super fast though since he would prefer to calculate his moves I can imagine. Probably why he waited so long to even try to hit in the minigame Logger Heads (ironically enough though, he still ended up hitting a bomb at one point-) What made things worse for him was that he got no points and it was a Bowser minigame where they fought between half of the whole party's Mini Stars. He was already in last place by that point. He was likely frustrated about that, but pretty calm about the frustration anyway. Just silently facepalming and grumbling at himself for doing something he sees as dumb. Can also imagine that in general, Bubba would get much more quiet if he was in last due to the frustration but also because of trying to focus and think about ways to get himself back in the game. The party would probably be concerned about that-
Okay, I just wanna say for the record... The bosses in this round are the exact same as last time. For highlights there, Bubba got the captain bonus for the Lakitu boss and Yoshi's 4th place animation legit made me think: "Yeah, that looks like Crafty right there" because I could imagine her doing that 🥺 As for the Wiggler boss, CatNap was literally dominating everyone in that. He didn't even lose any points either. He also had the captain's bonus lol I imagine he just did all that with the most chill expression ever, too lol. He'd probably just be like "Imagine losing..." to everyone else in a casual way. If Kickin was playing against him, he would get offended by that so much lol
Speaking of dominating, there was NO CONTEST with the winner by that point. CatNap beat everyone by at least 60 MINI STARS- HE GOT 104 TOTAL COMPARED TO CRAFTY'S 40, DOGDAY'S 37, AND BUBBA'S 30 NEAR THE END- I blame that on Logger Heads tbh. The minute that minigame happened, CatNap just dominated Crafty in winnings. There wasn't really a chance for her to win now T^T Bubba was disappointed in himself but at the same time, not surprised that CatNap won now. He also blames CatNap's winning on Logger Heads and luck (since CatNap could get the captain's bonus easily since he was only a couple spaces away so he could use his 4-6 dice he kept on him) Meanwhile DogDay is just absolutely amazed by how well CatNap did. No bad blood against him at all. He's just happy for him :> (We love the golden retriever and black cat energy)
Finally, I decided to do one of the minigame modes for fun. I chose to play as Kickin this time and also adding Bobby, Crafty, and Bubba. I chose for them to do Choice Challenge. They had to choose between five minigames, which were Thwomper Room, Urn It, Tuber Tug, Polar Extreme, and Pit or Platter.
Bubba was the only one to choose both Thwomper Room and Urn It. LITERALLY JUST HIM. He got 200 points right off the bat. Bobby and Crafty were pretty worried by that point, but Kickin wasn't at all expecting that- He was probably making sure he won the next minigames he chose. Funnily enough, he was trying to go for Thwomper Room, too, but he must've accidentally chose another minigame. It would've been a StarStudent matchup there (sorry StarStudent shippers ;-;)
Bubba didn't choose Tuber Tug and Polar Extreme but Bobby, Crafty, and Kickin did, so it was literally just competition against those three for a bit. They practiced Tuber Tug first through Kickin's plea because he was wanting to make sure his Wii Remote worked (he wanted to make sure he could dominate his competition- Don't blame him). I can imagine Hoppy would likely be calling him a chicken in the background for not going straight into the minigame despite knowing how to do it. Either way, Kickin won the minigame and got 100 points. Crafty got 50, and Bobby 30. No practice was done for Polar Extreme as the instructions were simple. (Btw, this was the minigame Kickin accidentally picked over Thwomper Room-) All three of them still never made it to the goal, though Bobby survived the longest so she won. This time Bobby got 100 points, Kickin got 50, and Crafty 30. Considering how well she did with the minigames last time they played together, I can imagine Kickin would get pretty suspicious of Bobby. Though he isn't nearly as worried about her as he is with Bubba. Y'know... THE DUDE WHO GOT FIRST PLACE AND DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO TRY TO GET THERE.
Everyone chose the Chance minigame, Pit or Platter. Kickin's ego was probably kicking in again by that point because he's usually good with skill minigames. This one wasn't his best attempt at it though. Hoppy calling him out probably cut him deep so he didn't choose to practice this time, even though he probably needed it- Either way, he just wanted to make sure it wasn't Bubba that won. Sure enough, Bubba didn't win that minigame. Bobby did
Bobby really proved to be a wild card when it comes to minigames, but it actually goes in her favor this time- She actually won against Bubba by 30 points. She had 280 and he had 250. Crafty and Kickin were pretty far down in terms of points though. Poor Crafty didn't get first place once- Kickin meanwhile is just glad Bubba didn't win but also a little salty that Bobby won since she won against him last time- It didn't really matter to Bobby that she won anyway. She was just happy to play with her friends. She let them know that too through her usual affection :>
Tumblr media
(Sorry this was so long, but I had a lot of fun doing this- It's not everyday I'm able to play on my Wii due to college stuff 🙃 I hope you liked what I listed tiara, and in general, I hope y'all enjoyed =v=') Speaking of tiara, credits to her for the Mario Party 9 headcanons idea for the Smiling Critters. These were fun to come up with :)
