#but i generally imagine she'd have a very hard time because she has a lot of hang ups about other women bc of all the internalized misogyny

because i’m smart and all knowing, i’m aware the roy siblings are all bisexual. so i found your post about their implied queerness incredibly interesting and i hate how a lot of people sort of ignore roman’s clear love for gerri and his tension with the men on the show, and the same thing for shiv and kendall having moments like shiv really wanting to hook up with that girl. do you think them internalizing their fathers homophobia strained their relationship with their father even more or is it something they all tried to bury or ignore for him and it made them wanting his approval worse?
both, probably? i don't really think those two things contradict one another. trying to hiding parts of yourself to get your father's approval will create strain and resentment in the relationship.
i think the three of them also run through hot and cold cycles with their dad in general--running around chasing scraps of his affection, then realizing they'll never get it and so striking out to be independent, purposefully doing things to anger him, only to lured back in by some dangled promise. so i can see how that could potentially play out in a similar way with their sexuality; kendall being freer with stewy at harvard or with nate in shanghai where he feels like his own man, and then behaving in a more repressed way when he's around his father making insinuations and is treating his word as law.
roman never goes as far as kendall or shiv - he can't cut off their dad when they do the hundred or follow through on the vote of no confidence, so i think he's probably less likely to have explored that side of himself as much. like, i think kendall has had relationships with other men (though he'd use a different word, i'm sure), but i think roman has had encounters with other men. i don't think he's even let himself get vulnerable enough for full on feelings to form. it's also unclear if he's even physically capable of having sex, or on what level he experiences attraction (i do read him as being on the ace spectrum, though i think others also have valid readings), so i think that's also been a factor in how involved he got with others. for roman, it's not just that he has to make sure he doesn't show interest in men, he has to pretend he's actively having sex with women for his image - whereas kendall is having sex with women, just not exclusively, so they have to self-censor in different ways around logan.

Javery fight headcanons because we both know those two are going to have a major major fight at some point
averyjameson fight head canons
of course <3. i apologize if this sucks, i haven't really slept in days T-T. this one will be shorter than my other posts cause the topic isn't as broad (and wont just be about one major fight but just a fights in general too), but i hope you still enjoy them <3. @ariscats helped with some of these <3. she's amazing.
i've mentioned this before, but i think that their codeword, tahiti, was created as a result of one of their bigger fights in order to avoid them.
jameson is the one that created the code word.
i think a lot of their fights would be related to each of them keeping secrets. avery's mentioned not liking being vulnerable before which, i think, would cause issues in their relationship. she'd keep secrets in order to keep herself from being vulnerable and jamie would hate it and confront her about it. she'd be very defensive and wouldn't admit to keeping secrets which would make things worse.
i think jamie would also have trouble opening up which is smth that would annoy avery a lot. unlike avery, though, it's not because he doesn't want to talk to her, it's bc he's afraid of what she would think of him/not wanting her to see him differently. she'd confront him about it, but he'd deny it and tell her that he has no reason to want to lie to her (lies).
they're the type of people that, even when they're mad at each other, have to sleep in each others arms bc its the only thing that keeps the nightmares away.
i feel like they're also the type of people who would try their best to not raise their voices bc they know its not healthy but would end up doing it anyways.
most of their fights ends with someone crying (not because they hurt each other's feelings, but bc they end up becoming vulnerable with each other and that makes one (or both of them) cry)
i think that whenever they have a major fight, avery would do smth like not eat. she'd get so mad she'd forget to/she wouldn't head to the kitchen to get smth in order to not see jameson by chance. jameson would make sure to make/get her smth and leave it by the door or give it to oren.
they'd definitely have fights about how careless jamie is with his life. i imagine that whatever happened in prague caused a screaming match between them.
they'd try to resolve their fights before bedtime bc they hate going to bed mad.
jamie would get really afraid whenever avery is mad at him bc he'd get the idea in his head that she was going to leave him. that's why, now, whenever they fight, avery makes sure to tell him that she's not leaving him before hand.
i also think a lot of their fights would be caused by avery overworking herself/not taking care of herself, and jamie would get worried/mad and say smth about it (avery disagrees with him thinking its unhealthy bc she thinks its her duty).
speaking of overworking, avery would work so often she'd start neglecting jamie (there are fics about this). this would obviously also cause fights.
i also think that, near the beginning of their relationship, jamie would have a really hard time expressing his emotions properly and would try to hide them by acting careless/happy, enough to hurt avery's feelings multiple times.
when fighting, avery would get so mad and anxious she'd start digging her nails into her palms really hard (its something i've noticed she does in the books too so this is less of a head canon). even though they're fighting, jamie doesn't like seeing this and will grab onto her hands and hold them or will give her smth to hold if she doesn't want to touch him.
they're the type of people to take breaks from their fights cause they hate having disagreements. they'll have a screaming match and then one will go 'break?' and they'll pretend as if nothing happened and come back to the fight later.
ok so idk if this will make sense but ill try my best to explain it properly. avery reads the hate comments she receives and starts believing them, smth she'd never admit. instead of admitting it to herself, she'd sort of project onto jamie and convince herself that he thinks the same/believes the comments. their fights would revolve a lot around that, i think. avery would go 'so many people call my ugly and unworthy of you, why would you not think the same?'
speaking of those fights that i mentioned in the hc right before this one, these ones tend to not become screaming matches. jamie would try to comfort her calmly bc he knows screaming won't do them any well.
as their relationship moves forward, their fights get rarer, and when they do, they don't scream (if they do, very very rare)
idk if this is even possible but it happens to me so im guessing it is. i mentioned earlier that jamie gets scared when they fight bc he's convinced himself avery will leave him. well when he gets scared, he also gets cold so they always have a blanket on hand for jameson to use if this happens.
avery would get jealous of jamie's ex's at the beginning of their relationship bc she has shown hints of being insecure about her looks in the books. this would also cause issues with jamie.
at the beginning of their relationship, avery, like mentioned earlier, would get really insecure about her looks, enough that she would compare herself to girls online and people jameson followed (he only follows them cause they're family friends/extended family members, etc). the fact that jameson used to see her as a game and her own insecurities really messed with her head, but she never talked about it with jameson because she hated being vulnerable. this would cause fights until jamie realized what was going and then he created the code-word.
whenever they're done fighting, they always have these huge love confessions planned bc, like i said a million times before, they hate fighting and like to end it on a good note.
whenever they're done fighting, they give each other a little kiss and cuddle cause they hate being mad at each other.

what are the cullen’s hobbies? (not canon ones, things and activities you think they’d enjoy - even if being a vampire made it a little difficult or damn near impossible)
God, my eye is twitching with the desire to give them the weirdest hobbies imaginable.
The Cullens have an insane amount of money and time, and their powers (ultra-fine muscle control, amazing vision, etc.) means they will excel at a lot of hobbies.
The hobbies they are prevented from by their vampirism are things involving animals, professional sports (as you'll have to submit to drug tests and your health and fitness routine being monitored), close contact with people in general, food-based hobbies, and hobbies were humans are likely to bleed one way or another.
To say nothing of how niche a hobby community can get. Everyone knows everything about everyone, and that opens up for a level of scrutiny a vampire might not be prepared for.
So, let's assume these barriers aren't an issue for whatever reason. What do the Cullens do?
(I... admit I wasn't entirely able to resist that weird hobby urge.)
Alice might just find herself doing cat or dog shows. The level of perfectionism and effort that goes into preparing your pet (depending strongly on breed and fur quality, of course, some breeds require little if any preparation. The universal experience, though, is GROOOOOOOOOMMMM and if it’s dogs, then TRAIIIIINNNNN your dog) could very well appeal to her, and I imagine she'd develop her own coat products. Silicone powder, color-enhancing shampoo, volumizing spray, she's got her own line, to say nothing of the edge her gift would give her, as she would know which puppy or kitten to buy. (The "which cub am I choosing?!!" issue being a common one because when a puppy is 8 weeks old you simply do not know if it will grow up to be a hottie or not, and it’s not much easier with 12 week old kittens. This is a science.) Her pets win everything.
Carlisle, well, the trouble with this guy is his work is his hobby. And it's already one vampires are supposed to be unable to do. The man is a fluke. Carlisle's hobby is now to be able to contribute to medical research and reference patients from the 1820's without anybody asking questions.
Edward... god, all I can picture is some intensely esoteric craft, one that five people in the world can do and that creates something beautiful and meaningful. Making instruments, the rarer and more elaborate the better, is the name of the game, I think.
Emmett would love to compete. He's a vampire, he's going to win at everything anyway, he's incredible. He kicks the butts of seventeen-year-old humans who worked hard and makes them all cry because he just took their scholarships. He whoops, beats his chest. VICTORY!!
Esme, cooking competitions. She's winning them all. And, because anon said to remove the vampirism problems, she's not eating her competitors.
Jasper is into theatre. Not because he's particularly interested in it, oh no, he just likes to abuse his gift this way. With his gift he can make the other actors bomb their scenes, or make an untalented schmuck seem like the next Rex Harrison. He's in a movie club for the same reason. He made one guy laugh during Schindler's List. Just the one.
Renesmée, if finding the limitations of her hybridness lifted, becomes a freestyle diver. Who needs to breathe? Usually Renesmée, but not anymore!
Rosalie has her cars already, but she strikes me as a horse girl. Give the girl an unafraid horse, and the ability to compete without that being an issue, and our girl is on a Dutch Warmblood competing on a national level in dressage.

Your kink posting has got me questioning 🤔 do you have head canon kinks for all the companions? ( or at least the hot girlies )
To a point yes, but they are still being formed. I do think there are certain characters that are just Less Kinky, not because their personality means they CAN'T be kinky but, idk... for balance, and because it seems less Likely. My thoughts on the companions so far: Shadowheart: Very kinky, true sadist / masochist (both equally). I think she'd enjoy a LOT of things, but the classics: bondage, impact, knives, wax play, degradation, worship, roleplay (especially religious, training and corruption themes), edging/denial, CNC... I also think that she would really enjoy rigging, if she ever got the time and setting to practice that. Perhaps she would adapt it from Sharran torture methods similar to Japanese rope techniques used in the Edo period to extract confessions. I think that she would enjoy the slow ritual of it, I think she would enjoy its elegance, and I think she'd enjoy how excruciating but euphoric it can be. Again, she'd be into many things, and very adept at turning most kinks into something she can engage with via the right dynamic and context. Lae'zel: Also very kinky in a completely different way; much more about the power dynamics than the methods. Biggest thing would probably be Primal. Possessive. Defs messy; BO, sweat, blood, tears, spit, piss probably lmao. Would love contests of strength, causing controlled damage to bodies and enduring pain. I think with more trust and affection established with someone, she would be able to enjoy another layer of play; immobilization, sensory-focused play, degradation/humiliation, fear play, care giving/receiving, overstimulation... still very much into possessiveness in play, but with an emotional element that made it even more intense.
Karlach: I think Karlach would do plenty of kink without being deeply invested in it; she wants a good time and is up to try anything once. An element of Karlach's character that I think is very relevant to her relationship to kink and sex in general is that Karlach basically Never feels physically vulnerable; she knows that she's usually the biggest, toughest badass in the room. I think that would make her very sexually adventurous because she simply wouldn't fear much. What she struggles with is intimacy, and her building emotional trust would be the most significant element of her relationship to kink. All that said; I imagine her favourite kinky fun would be rough fucking, manhandling, wrestling, skin-contact sensory-focused play, temperature play, leather (because its badass and feels good), and honestly?? Oonga Boonga caveman brain misogyny-tinged degradation. Just feels right for her. The simple pleasure of a little lover under her saying how big she is and how hard she goes and begging to be knocked up would absolutely send her. I just FEEL it
Gale: I don't have many well formed thoughts on Gale's kinks. I suspect he'd be into like... Tantric Embodied Karma Sutra stuff, with a lot of wizardy bells and whistles. Creating an experience of non-duality as a kink. Basically, that guy at the Crystal Rainforest Festival that is suspected of being a cult leader and has VERY good drugs for sale. The kind of kink he does, Gale probably does
Astarion: Hmmmmm. I can see him, over time, coming to a place of comfort with non-sexual kink as a way to engage with power difference (Astarion forming a healthy identity as a dominant would be really good for him I think) and experience grounding, safe sensations within his body. I think kinky sex would take longer, but submission would be extremely difficult and vulnerable for him; forming a responsible dominant identity could be quite healing for him. On the other hand, choosing to submit to a dominant that he actually trusted and who took care of him could also be very very healing, just... I think that would be difficult for him to do safely. It would take a great deal of time to get there.
Wyll: Probably a less kinky person, but man, I think he'd be a great pampered sub. Worshipping, being treated like a bit of a boy toy. Would love mutual possessiveness. That'd be hot frankly. But I'm still figuring his kink vibe out! I gotta play his romance.
Minthara: Freak. Proper freak. Terrifying freak. Snuff kink freak.
Halsin: Wholesome freak into surprisingly intense shit. Exhibitionism, primal, breeding, rough, biting. Wants a lot of stimulation in every way.

Okay, so you like Velvet and Veneer? Well, if you get the chance, I want you to speak! TELL ME EVERYTHING!! I want you to give me headcannons please, as many as you can think of :)
pls and thx!!
AHHH! OK so I've never done anything like this but I put as many as I could think of. If I come up with anything else, I'll edit this and add it (or just make a new post)
(lots of words ahead 💀)
General headcanons :
- They one hundred percent had the Barbie mugshot but with Velvet's deadly stare instead
- and Veneer made sure he looked good; they are taking a picture after all
- I think Velvet might be a little taller than Veneer but they're both taller than average
- never leaves the house without heels or platforms or both
- Veneer has must-be-wearing-a-crop-top syndrome. Can't be cured 😔
- I'm sorry but they totally sang Circus by Britney Spears. That song is so V&V coded and has female and male vocals too 😩
- The sass is too hard to contain for this duo. Once a sly thought appears in their mind, they have to voice it (but I'm not complaining. They're iconic)
- Veneer can be a little blunt or rude sometimes. I know ppl like to imagine him as just the caring and silly sibling but he did everything Velvet did. He just had morals that started to kick in once the threat of being a killer was thrown at him.
(I mean did you see him nearly just toss Floyd down the toilet 💀)
- of course, I still think he is silly and kind and chooses to do so for a fair portion of the time but he's no stranger to being ignorant to most of his wrongdoings as well
- and I think they both have some trauma from practically killing Floyd. GET THEM THERAPYYY
- I think Velvet would like decorating and making things ✨Aesthetic✨
- like a little journal that she'd write her feelings in and then fill with beautiful stickers and photos (totally not a burn book....)
- I think Poppy would love love looove to see Velvet's journal filled with beautiful stationary. She'd probably get her into scrapbooking and they'd make the cutest little displays or books just brimming with photos, cutouts, diagrams, and more.
-Poppy and Viva can be a little overwhelming for Velvet at first but they'd totally become great gal pals and just chat all day.
- and at first, Bergen features might be a little....alarming to Velvet but she'd learn to love Bridget just like Poppy does
-also both are invited to the broppy wedding... 👀
- she also of course become friends with the BroZone brothers but I get more into that below ⬇️
"Story" headcanons :
- So for Velvet, I think in the movie she was so blinded by her need for fame and luxury that she didn't notice how her family (Veneer) helped her and stuck around through all the things she said and did. This would separate her from being just a complete villain because I do believe that she can reform herself into something better
- In Jail, I think Velvet would really hate it and everyone around her. She probably wouldn't want to talk to Veneer at all at first but being alone might give her time to reflect on herself
- over a little time, I think she'd realize how Veneer was always there for her and understood her ways. She'd definitely come back around and they'd be back to being as close as they were before, maybe even more
-It would take some time for both Velvet and Veneer to adjust.
- Veneer would dislike jail very much. He's so used to his life of luxury that I'm sure he'd be surprised by how little you get behind bars
- and with Velvet wanting to be alone, he would probably feel more alone than ever
- but he knows he did the right thing and even though prison sucks, he'd get through it
- Veneer would probably try to make friends with some of the people there but it is prison soo.... I'm not sure how well that would go.
- if anyone came to visit him, he'd be so happy cuz jail is sooo boring and he'd finally get to yap away to somebody who knows him.
- you just know they'd be styling that prison jumpsuit the best the can
- can you sneak heels into jail??
- Velvet and Veneer are kinda "eye candy" for the criminals in jail and they might get targeted by those who are jealous or looking for a fight
-Velvet's not the only one with an attitude problem, Veneer can very well relay a comment or two that can easily get them into some trouble. He'll have to work on that along with his sister, learn how to correctly treat the people around them
 - After they become besties again, they'd have each other's backs like never before. I think Velvet really really does care about Veneer and if anything ever happened to him, she'd be devastated. This time, she'd really like to treat him how he deserves and nurture that sibling bond.
- and you know once anyone throws hands with one sibling, the other comes swinging
- 💥KNOCKOUT💥
- not the best thing to do if you want to get out of jail fast but hey, nobody messes with twins and gets away with it
- Due to other more serious situations being forgiven in the past, I think Velvet & Veneer wouldn't be in prison for too long. I can easily see BroZone forgiving them and offering to help the twins with whatever they'd need
- Veneer would definitely become great friends with Floyd and even Bruce. After all, he knows what it's like to be sensitive and a heartthrob 😌
- and I can see Velvet relating to Branch and J. D. She's probably a control freak (or was) and always wants everything to be perfect, just like John Dory. That's something they'd both have to work on. And I think Velvet and Branch can relate to one another's sassy sarcastic comments and occasional snide remarks.
- I can also see them joining Clay's sad book club. I need to see a scene of Veneer just balling his eyes out after finishing a book while all the others just pat him on the back 😆
- @horrorartist23 did a couple of drawings of Velvet & Veneer(or maybe just Ven idk) working at Bruce's Beachside Bar and I LOVE THAT IDEA SO MUCH.
- ESPECIALLY since Bruce said his family was a total Veneer household. I think it would be so cute for not only his kids getting the chance to meet Vel&Ven but also for Vel&Ven to get a little bit of real work experience.
- it would be so good for them to work at a place like that to learn about themselves and a work environment.
- plus the whole island is gorgeous and pretty luxury, which would fit into they're ideal environment. AND everything is Rageon sized so they don't have to worry about being too big!!
- They'd literally be working hard and making it look easy 💀
- I think it's perfect and I love it
-after jail and therapy, I think Velvet would really love the life she has. She'd of course still make mistakes sometimes and her sass will never leave. That's just who she is and none of us would want to change that . But she'd have a way healthier mind and so would the people around her.
- I think both of them might want to actually learn how to sing and dance like real performers
- Velvet hates making mistakes or not being perfect at a skill immediately. I know how that is and it's really difficult to get past but with more encouragement from Veneer and even the Brozone brothers, she'd become the star she always knew she was.
- And Veneer would take initiative for himself and practice performing like a real idol. I feel Veneer would also struggle with wanting perfection immediately but I think he'd really fall in love with dancing and this would help him keep up the determination. And he'd be really good at it too after some practice
- Knowing how good they can be if they put in the work would be a huge motivator too. Cuz they only stole Floyd's talent, not his voice. And because of this Velvet knows that she sounds good when she's at her peak in skill. They know that they can be amazing, they just have to work for it this time
-Trying to become famous again for the right things would definitely be hard. They're reputation is awful
- BUT, I think Mount Rageous would give them a chance to prove themselves. Considering how all Rageons are obsessed with media, fame, and celebrities, I think they couldn't resist the bait of former popstars Velvet & Veneer coming back to the stage, this time with their own talent that they've truly worked hard to perfect.
- And they'd deserve it for how much work they put into reforming their lives.
- Plus, nobody can take away their love for the stage and performing. They're too iconic to forget 💅
- and you know I'd be keepin' my eye out for that V&V/BroZone collab 🌟
- First live performance with BroZone, Velvet and Veneer are getting their Perfect Family Harmony. And you can bet it will be the most amazing thing to ever grace the planet
- I'd die 💀
That's all that I can think of right now 🤔 I hope you enjoyed reading my thoughts on these two. I really really love them and getting to write this down was really fun. If you have any ideas you'd like to expand upon or thoughts you'd like to share, let me knooww! And of course, Thank you sweetgirl15161819 for sending this ask!! 💖 💖

𝙥𝙖𝙞𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜(𝙨) - Chloe Price x G/N!Reader
𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 - Cursing?, a lot of fluff y'all I just kept adding to it, slight angst in parts but nothing bad at all, alludes to pregnancy ig? i don't really know?
𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙 ? - Yeah/Nope
𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙧'𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙚 - i love babies sm.. also ty for the request!!
Tumblr media
first things first, i don't ever see her actually choosing to mother
but if you have a kid? and she likes you? she also likes your kid
chloe probably meets you later in life, she's matured ( kinda) and explored places she's always wanted and finally she comes across you and that thing.. the little gremlin that's attached to your hip with big eyes and a grand smile
step-father chloe y'all ( nah jk... unless )
she is childish herself and lowkey selfish which is why she for sure questions her parental abilities and never wanted kids young or even at all when she thought about, but you just sprung up and how could she deny herself yours, hers and that little ankle biters happiness
but she's for sure the fun parent, the one that will let your child stay up passed bedtime and eat so much ice cream while watching R rated movies and promising not to tell you
and then you get home, catch them and suddenly everybody getting a time out
including her and probably the cat too
she probably has very loose parenting as well, her main ideas is if there's nothing to rebel against, what's the point in doing the bad stuff?
meaning she is just a very open parent in the sense that she doesn't hide the word from her kids or shelter them, she's honest and let's them choose their own path in life with her soft guidance
and she's just open in general about her opinions on things
you ask? she'll answer, same goes for the little one who has all the questions in the world and she's sure to answer
even if it's 'are unicorns real?'
they sure fucking are kid, and so are leprechauns
speaking of which, her imagination is unreal
remember how she'd play pirates with max? oh yeah, grab your eyepatch, you're in for a long ride with this one
her playtime with baby has lore, bullet point, highlighted text and a few video essays and a whole lot of story telling they have to explain to you
then you have your toddler clapping at you to keep up and chloe trying to throw you into her world of sparkles and sea monsters and you just wanted to know what they wanted for dinner
she's so cool to all of your child's friends as well, she's the cool parent with different colored hair and tats that totally have those prissy moms side eyeing her hard and don't give a single damn
lets them do what they want at your house because they're safe and that's what matters at the end of the day, even if they're getting up to shit in their rooms
if your child wants colored hair she'll get them those fake hair clip ins and temporary die just so they can look more like her and oh my god it's adorable
also the fake tattoos you get at like grocery stores or dollar stores in those machines? your kid will always compare them to mama chloe's or yours if you have tattoos
shows them off and tells people she's matching with her mama
has great bedtime stories
big cuddler too, she's a clinger
when your child is still a baby she just loves to hold them and i mean LOVES too, the baby don't even care about being held chloe just don't wanna put them down
doesn't believe in baby talk
she speaks to her baby like they a grown man and that's it there's not another way
she be talking to it like it understands her while it just stares and drools while giggling because chloe is a very animated and entertaining talker, even you catch yourself listening aimlessly
she loves being and parenting though, even the stresses
sometimes though she feels like she's gonna fail at it but you just have to give her the slight reminder and that she's her fathers and mothers daughter, and they were both was a wonderful people and parents
joyce adores your child, whether you had them before or after chloe, she's in love and spoils them as much as she possibly can
chloe even jokes that joyce loves the kid more than her
which may or may not be true
max also loves them so much, loves taking pictures which actually helps capture a lot of memories free of you freaking out to grab your phone, she never posts them or anything, she actually gives them to most times to keep in the baby book
everybody loves the small human okay
chloe saves so much money up to give you and them the best holdiays ever and birthdays, even if you're struggling with money, she makes it all worth while
handy man of the house as well, will fix toys and put together cribs and bedframes well into the night while you're passed out with your body pillow and noise machine my man
she loves taking care of her family, that's all
but chloe most of all, is both scared and enamored that your little human thinks you and her are the entire world, and she doesn't plan on making that world fall apart like it did for her when her dad passed
yeah, that's not happening

What’s one thing each hero does well without knowing?
Hm, the ask is a little vague, so I will interpret it as either things the heroes have the potential to excel at but never tried, or general skills they have but never noticed are out of the norm.
Man-at-arms: He thought of it as "tactical maneuvering" but in reality Barristan had all the makings of a great diplomat. He was much better at persuasion and charm than screaming orders. His talent was wasted in the military.
Abomination: Has a good ear for music, would learn an instrument easily if he applied himself. He has more sensibility than he gives himself credit for.
Antiquarian: Her fingers are very agile, but she never tried to learn sleight of hand. Thank fuck, because she'd be scary good at it and use her power for evil.
Bounty Hunter: Once Alhazred asked him if he ever studied the occult arts. Tardif told him to kindly sod off with that magic shite. He'd rather not know why he asked.
Grave Robber: Audrey never thought of getting her hands dirty before bankruptcy, but she would do well with gardening. She has the precision, the patience and the brutality to deal with weeds and pests. With her sharp aesthetic sense, she'd make beautiful pleasure gardens. Aren't graveyards just gardens for the dead?
Plague Doctor: Junia once told her she'd be a good preacher. Paracelsus laughed her way to the floor. It's true though. When she deigns to talk about something she cares about, she gets really passionate and eloquent, much like Reynauld. She just needs to learn to match her speeches to her audience. It's hard to be inspired by the biology of leeches.
Flagellant: Damian has very good memory. Perhaps that's part of what makes him so obsessive about sin, he never forgets his mistakes? He doesn't realize it's unusual, it has never come up. Mostly because nobody wants to talk to him.
Jester: Someone needs to find Sarmenti one of those 3D puzzles or building kits or anything of the sort. He's crazy precise with his hands and gets easily absorbed by the task. I imagine he could build one of those absurd domino mini-cities if you locked him in a room with enough material.
Crusader: Reynauld is a good army organizer for many reasons, one of which he never noticed is that he has an outstanding perception of space. He's the kind of guy that can estimate how many bricks should go in a wall at a glance. Could have been a master builder in another lifetime.
Hellion: When she finally learns to read, she will also learn the joys of writing. She will progress quickly by keeping a private journal and discover a knack for it. She and Dismas can workshop poems.
Vestal: It doesn't come up because of her vow of poverty, but Junia has a good head for managing money. She can squeeze a lot out of a tight budget and knows how to set priorities. If she was in charge of the Hamlet's finances maybe it wouldn't be falling apart.
Arbalest: Good with teaching and explaining things in general. She could instruct a few snipers for the Hamlet, if she was willing to let anyone touch her arbalest. If she got roped into teaching basic first aid the Hamlet would save a killing in Survivalist lessons.
Occultist: Even though he's a liberal arts guy, he can still make insane head calculations. He assumes the reason not everyone can make three number multiplications on the fly is just poor education. Everyone else thinks it's a result of witchcraft and the devil.
Highwayman: Dismas writes on scrap paper during his few moments of leisure, but he could develop a good writing hand if he had more time and a better set up. Maybe Audrey could teach him some calligraphy, she had to learn all that flowery crap. He'd find the end result very satisfying.
Shieldbreaker: ...Well, she already found out she's really good at killing people. Now she needs to realize she has a great poker face and capitalize on it. She could give Josephine a run for her money.
Houndmaster: He likes memorizing quotes from plays and novels, but it never occurred to him he could act or recite. Someone should make him read out loud.
Leper: Thinks it's totally normal that birds sit on his hand and baby fawns lay on beside him. "Oh, you just have to stay calm and not spook them". No, Baldwin, you are an animal magnet and people keep score of your ridiculous Disney Princess incidents.
Runaway: Would never think of herself as a sciency person, but one day her knack for systematically identifying plants will make Paracelsus delighted.

I think I cracked Gal Gadot
She's the twin to all those 'character actors in leading man bodies' like Chris Pine and Brad Pitt--she's a girl next door in a supermodel body.
She was so good in Wonder Woman because she got to play the character girlishly. She was happy, sad, afraid, concerned, lovey-dovey, hopeful, dispirited. Seeing her express strong emotions made you empathize with her and feel what she was feeling. The same principle as Luke Skywalker in ANH: he may be disparaged as whiny, but he didn't get to be one of the biggest pop culture icons of all time because people didn't relate to him.
Tumblr media
The problem is, in everything else, Gadot is either playing a stoic, driven Strong Female Character (Fast & Furious, Heart of Stone, Justice League) or maybe a vampy girlboss (Death On The Nile, Red Notice) and it's just outside her range, not letting her show any of the charisma that made her so watchable as Wonder Woman.
Even in the DCEU, post-origin story, she's generally played Wonder Woman as brooding, reserved, stoic... a little like Luke in Return of the Jedi.
Tumblr media
Now, that worked there because it was the end of his arc and he wasn't quite a Jedi. He still had to defeat Vader and the Emperor, he was conflicted, he got angry. Now imagine if they made a Star Wars movie set after RotJ, with Luke as a Jedi Master, and he was still the protagonist. It'd probably be a little boring, right? He'd be all-wise, all-knowing, infinitely patient. A good mentor, sure, but as someone relatable? No, I think it'd be a bit dull.
Tumblr media
Which is the problem with Wonder Woman. Yeah, she can't stay a naif forever, but her as a perfectly poised, perfectly controlled badass just isn't much fun.
I think Patty Jenkins realized this was a problem with WW1984 and tried to course-correct, with an overlong first act that gave us Diana in love again, smooching with Chris Pine again, and having internal conflict again, but it didn't work. It was trying too hard to take Diana back to who she was and doing so in a not very effective way. Right idea, but poor execution. Especially since they wanted to start off with Diana brooding, sad, et al, so that her character arc would end in her being happy.
It's a thorny problem. They have Chris Pine die to give her angst, but Wonder Woman with angst isn't very engaging and they can't give him back for realsies and they have to line up with Batman V Superman at least a little. I don't know, I don't think they ever figured it out, even though they devoted the whole plot to fixing this and trying to show off Gal Gadot's very real charisma.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't really have a solution myself, I'm just a guy on the internet--I'm saying the problem is that Gal Gadot has gotten so big she can only take A-list parts and modern Hollywood blockbuster filmmaking says that Strong Female Characters can't be too feminine or show a lot of emotion or be vulnerable--the only emotion they're allowed is to be smug about how awesome they are--and Gadot is notably bad at playing these badly-written parts.
I think she'd actually be great pulling a Leslie Nielsen and making fun of herself, at least a little, but that requires more wit than an algorithm is capable of generating, so I don't think we'll see that for a while.

heyyyyyy i’ve seen your heiwajima parents art, and i really love your designs! <3 i wanted to ask, do you perhaps have any headcanons that you might like to share? o.o the novels BARELY mention them at all :( i’m scraping for content
DO I!? OH HONEY... DO I 💔💔💔
Tumblr media
here's a quick doodle of them as well as a thank u for this ask bc uGH i adore them too (they are barely mentioned and basically everything i like about them i came up with in my own silly little head). this is a pretty long post so do continue reading under the cut if you'd like! ^^
gosh idk where to even begin okok. unironically girlboss and malewife. in my mind kichirou is kinda goofy, the more laid-back parent while namiko's the stricter one despite generally being a pretty quiet person in general.
shizuo definitely gets his temper from namiko i think, and while arguments wouldn't at all be frequent it'd basically be up to kichirou or kasuka to calm them both down whenever they happened ToT
i think namiko has an artistic sort of hobby like painting. don't ask me for any reasonings i just feel like she does, and this passtime eventually rubbed off on kasuka a little since i recall he likes painting too? she'd specifically paint landscapes, her favourites being beaches and the sea. because of this though she tends to spend a lot of her free time a little secluded. sometimes, especially as children, she'd let kasuka and shizuo watch her paint and let them try out their own stuff too, but since shizuo's immense strength became apparent he sort of began to feel like he wasn't as welcome as he once was in a studio full of her fragile hard work so he harbours a sort of reluctance doing any of that anymore.
speaking of, namiko would worry about shizuo. a lot. maybe TOO much in fact. she'd frequently scold him for getting into fights and things like that, and because she's his mother i don't imagine he'd really retaliate. he'd be real pissed off and slam his bedroom door (off it's hinges😭) in a huff, sure, but there's no way in HELL he's pulling a stunt like almost throwing an entire fridge at *her*. she'd be the one dragging him to the neighbours houses and making him apologise for kicking the entire bonnet of their car in or meeting with the head of school because shizuo threw a chair into the wall. idk i kinda get the impression that their relationship is a liiittle strained because their personalities kinda clash but they love each other really. whenever something's bothering shizuo i feel like namiko picks up on it pretty quickly and does little things like make him his favourite dinner or grab a cake from the store on her commute to cheer him up.
kichirou on the other hand is big on sports i think, and listen he DEFINITELY taught his boys how to play baseball. only narita can tell me otherwise like until it's outright disproven this'll always be canon to me. i feel like he's the golden retriever to namiko's black cat in the sense he's a lot more outgoing and talkative and relaxed than her, albeit maybe a little more oblivious. i imagine he was really impressed and boastful about how strong, like a real athlete, his eldest was until the property damage and hospital bills were on the rise.
i feel like kichirou would be pretty attentive to kasuka. like oh he's kinda quiet is he making any friends at school? that kind of thing. where namiko stresses over dealing with shizuo i think kichirou would kind of overthink anything going on with kasuka.
despite namiko being the more temperamental of the two i think kichirou still gets really defensive whenever he catches wind of people talking smack about his family. like you can make fun of him all you want but the moment you get a bad word in about his boys or god FORBID his wife i feel like it's on sight. i don't think he'd go as far as getting into a fight about it but the sudden drop in light-hearted attitude to a very cold and dead serious "haha the hell did you just say?" would be enough to shut most people up. perhaps kasuka gets his acting skills from him, as in being able to switch up at the drop of a hat. otherwise i feel like kichirou's really friendly, though again maybe a little oblivious, probably has met shinra's dad before and thought he was a cool guy but maybe just a tad strange (a sizeable understatement).
in essence, think like phil and claire from modern family or mr and mrs fox from fantastic mr fox. that's basically the dynamic of them i have in my head =w= i might have more HCs but this is all that's coming to me rn. again, thanks so much for the ask!!!! ToT💕

Weird fucking thang. Posting these sketches just so i can talk about her. What if there was a guy who could be so insecure but so much better at hiding it.
Idfk whats going on with her outfit but its stuck on me so im keeping it.SHE'S WEARING STOCKINGS/leggings? BUT THEYRE WHITE SO IDK HOW TO VISUALIZE THAT. Hair is either a perm OR welcome side-effects from bleach + bright ass red hair dye (yes lizzie is ginger but she will dye her hair more red because. Clown.). Make up is exaggerated, lips and eyeshadoe overfilled, blush too bright/dark, literally everything besides actual greasepaint. Also she has funshaped suit cuffs button things..HONESTLY SHES HAVING A RLLY FUN TIME BEING DRAMATIC she goes to stock holder meetings dressed like this.
Elizabeth immediantly latches onto the Make ur Own Nice Fantasy and Friends thing :). She thinks this is a perfect idea. Like a LOT MORE INVOLVED version of movie william, sorta, i think she directly talks to the animatronics (esp. The funtimes)..but refuses to say their Real Names or talk about their old life in any way but sorta mean like "arent you glad you can be here now instead :3?"
The funtimes grow to FUCKING HATE HER. esp..because they are probably the ones she's "closest" to. And the ones she had the most hand in killing. (And they're also the ones that have been shown to revolt in canon.)
So eventually she gets too handsy or tests her luck somehow, with Baby(a couple of souls amalgamed into one robot, plus an AI), and, snatch, Lizzie is grabbed by her arm, pulled forward, and Baby clamps down on bone. Hard enough to chomp off (they made improvements to their strength.
If Lizzie hadn't had the knowledge of What They Do, and if she was younger and smaller, she'd be dead. She's not.
As soon as she's not dying from bloodloss and probably not from sepsis, she just goes ":o] okay i want a robot arm, daddy." And Bill is happy to oblige, mostly just scaling down blue prints from Baby's arm.
Elizabeth really enjoys giving handshakes with that arm. And using it to showcase all the wonderful potential Afton Robotics has. Fully artifulated and very strong :o].no dont worry about the phantom pains or how far the wires must go into your skin. Don't worry about how invasive or dangerous or the burns or how it Never Really Feels like I'm in control of it--Aren't you a fan of Progress, John? Don't stifle this. Imagine the profits
She clamps down harder on what's Proper Behavior for the funtimes. Many controlled shocks. I think she becomes a lot more cautious (but certainly she'll never be as much of a scaredy cat as Bill. She's above that.).
I think she's generally very insecure and shit. I think she's sort of feels "hollow" , no real self, similar to Bill. But i think she knows she's much better at hiding it, and knows how to be much more of a character. She's more solid. More grounded. She knows what she wants and By God she is going to get it.
I think she absolutely hates going to social events that are not 99% business. Elizabeth cannot exist in normal public life-- she's better than that (shes so so scared. She does not know how to act normal.).
What if a guy was extremely agoraphobic. I mean she's been hanging out in a fucking underground bunker for most of her life, besides school. That's where all the fun happens and where she can be in control.
She takes over Afton robotics, legally, as soon as William Afton goes missing. She Really takes over when "Dave Miller" goes missing, and when she snoops and finds his dead, "lifeless" body in the rabbit suit. She thinks this is a wonderful opprunity. She has so many ideas she needs to get out there, now that she's not stifled.
I think she takes this oppurtunity to Expand and seperate the brand from previous associations (leaches). Sues Henry Emily and his strand of the company. I dont know if she wins but that happens.
I think. I think. I'm going to make the Circus aniamtronics (the fucking funko pop shit) to be Lizzie's own little experiment at expanding the brand. I THINK SHE DOES SO WELL and takes the killing into her own hands esp now <3.
Aaaaaughhh idk i love lizzie so much. Thiss is rambly AND ALL SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

hey! ty for liking my tsaritsa so much!!! i'd love to hear more of your thoughts on her, if there are any!
omg of course, she's absolutely stunning, your art style does her so much justice (and honestly is just an awesome gorgeous style in general!!) and tbh your design is how I picture her in my head now !!
I have a lot of thoughts and ideas about the Tsaritsa, a lot of them are just kind of ~vibe~ based and hard to convey, but i'll toss them beneath the cut!
I really like the theory that her 'ideal' is love, like it's such a fun and interesting concept
like, to begin with i imagine she was a very kind deity, not in a familiar way, but in a general sort of .. benevolent to her subjects and open to those that sought an audience with her. Not exactly 'warm', but not entirely shutting them out either
though i imagine that sort of hollowed out as time wore on and she realised that even being an actual deity didn't give her the power she needed to be able to make any real tangible changes to things or help those who were doomed from the start (which is probably a big part of why shes so anti-celestia or whatever)
despite her despair and attitude towards romantic love sort of withering, she places a heavy emphasis on familial love (including found family) and on forming bonds that will stand the test of toil and time
she comes off very aloof, especially to those beneath her, and will actively try to avoid being around others if she can help it. She dislikes forming close attachments
this isnt to mean that she doesn't care. she just cares so much that the only way she can deal with it is by distancing herself, or else she's just setting herself up for repeated heartbreak when her loved ones inevitably die.
the exception to this ? pierro.
pierro is cursed with undeath, and even before that he was someone with a fiercely loyal (and stubborn) streak.
they both told themselves theyd never allow themselves to become attached to someone else after all the losses theyd been through, but in making this pact alongside one another they basically sealed their own fate
there are no simple words for the kind of intertwined, codependent, epic-spanning love-hate they have for one another.
their bond was one forged in the fires of loss and hardened by the ice of grief. despite what they both may say, they're in it for the long haul. Tsaritsa has slowly become accustomed to this idea. Pierro has not and will still vehemently deny it.
i guess to really shave it down id call it a queerplatonic relationship. something unholy and gorgeous. two flowers holding onto a cliffside by the tips of their roots and growing around one another.
the second 'exception' is columbina. i imagine she's like a weird nibling to the tsaritsa. she was picked to be amongst the harbingers because of her ability to light up any room she's in (i imagine tsaritsa secretly has a nickname for her that's somewhere along the lines of 'songbird' because of her voice ngl)
outside of this, the tsaritsa is cool and aloof and works very hard to maintain her composure, especially when under scrutiny. she is brilliant at keeping this facade in place.
until she's no longer in the public gaze, that is.
i like to think she's a tiny bit of a goofball, she has a soft spot for 'dad jokes' that make pierro roll his eyes and rub his temples, and she quite enjoys wine (im sorry but if she were a facebook mom her page would be minion memes and posts talking about how its wine o-clock)
she also rather enjoys slapstick humour - there are a few dottore clones running around who have perfected it enough so that she has to cover her mouth with a hand to stop her subjects from seeing the way her lips twitch upwards as she holds back her laughter
she's also really, really petty. not that she'd ever do anything about it, but more than once pierro has found himself in her chambers late at night, watching as she paces back and forth, her sixth glass of wine in hand, and complains about how that 'brick-brained geo archon just won't sign the damn contract! isn't that his entire shtick?!'
she also has a soft spot for kids, or people who have a youthful energy about them. it reminds her that maybe not all is bad in the world, and that she's going to change it for the better for their sake.
I like to think she's extremely good at various sports - i love the idea featured on the asker's blog about her having an elk instead of a horse. that's so cool and lives in my brain rent free and forever tbh. her and pierro on their steeds racing through a snowy forest on a rare free afternoon
i think she would've once been the type to enjoy prosey, flowery words, long poems, romantic tales of star-crossed lovers, that kind of thing. she read a lot and even wrote some. not any more though.
she has a very stern and strict air about her and won't hesitate to play into that if she feels like she needs to, but honestly she's got a good sense of humour on her. things that pierro scolds the other harbingers and such for are often things that she secretly finds really funny
though ALSO she's a stickler for good manners. i like to think that has extended to the snezhnayans , who are, when dealing with those outside of their immediate familial circles, are super duper polite (even if their tones may come off as abrupt). there's also a very heavily laid-on vibe of 'respect your elders' in snezhnaya.
she has such motherly vibes, but in a really standoffish way. she wont tell someone directly that she cares about them or what happens to them, but it'll be rerouted through like three other people like a game of telephone. like, yeah, that one person she caught shivering while on guard is gonna get a nice new pair of gloves but it will be from an anonymous donor (or just shoved into their hands by pierro with an annoyed grunt)
honestly now ive started im kind of finding it hard to stop but i just adore the tsaritsa so much and i love love love how you draw her so much, she's just so amazing and feels so like.. real, y'know? thank you so much for this ask, i really enjoyed rambling and thinking about the tsaritsa some more. i think your design and ideas should be canon actually

So in comics there's definitely been and are characters that everyone just agrees that they have to die.
And stay dead.
Think of Thomas and Martha Wayne, Uncle Ben etc.
Now these have changed from what they were initially
After Death in the Family, Jason Todd was supposed to stay dead.
And he did, for 17 years before coming back as the Red Hood.
Like there was a fake out in Batman: Hush that it was Jason and it was wild.
Bucky Barnes, also meant to stay dead and did so for 37 years.
... 37?!
Before becoming the Winter Soilder.
And these aren't in universe years, this is real world time.
Now it's hard to imagine them not wandering about.
So I'm trying to think what 3 characters I think should stay dead.
At least for the forcible future.
And who's dead that should be bought back.
.
Staying dead: Jason Grace (Percy Jackson: Heroes of Olympus.)
Yeah... I know.
I love him I'm still holding out hope he will return but I don't think it's coming.
I say think because... Leo.
Jason Grace is the perfect example of, I followed the rules, I did everything I was supposed to and I still lost everything.
He's the perfect soilder, the paragon of heroism and he fell sacrificing himself to save his friends.
I think it's best if Jason stays dead because his death is used to show the fragility of human life.
Of the harrowing lives demigods lead.
His final words are punctuated by him staring at Lester, Apollo in his eyes as he's stabbed.
And telling him to remember.
Remember what you saw, remember the way my life drained from eyes.
Remember this day, and know I'm not the first nor the last.
It's such a powerful moment.
Especially because Apollo gets to know Jason and is hit throughout the book that Jason is so young.
That he's just a kid.... that they all are.
Demigods aren't promised happy endings.
Most don't live to be adults, and it's perfectly and tragically shown perfectly through Jason's death.
He just got the life he wanted, found out Leo's alive... And than in a moment it was all gone.
Also, for Jason who's served 14 years at 16, he deserves to rest a while.
.
Coming back to life: Summer Rose (RWBY)
Didnt see that coming, I was very much on the "Oh my gosh can we not... Can she just stay dead" train.
Now look at me.
To be fair we know more than we did than and I am really interested to know what happened to Summer.
What happened to STRQ in general to be honest. The tragic death that no one speaks of.
Who's events seem to be only known by Summer herself.
And with the rise of Grimm like the Hound, a beast made of both grimm and silver eyed warriors.
With the note from Ruby and Yang that Summer could have been the turning point.
From Salem killing silver eyed warriors to capturing them.
Given Salem was trying to kill Maria when she was young, now am old lady. And has only ever tried to capture Ruby.
That and Grimm Summer is just the concept ever, I wanna see Summer Rose the paragon of being a huntress be an underling for Salem.
Especially if she's not as reluctant of a follower as we may believe.
.
Staying dead: Junko Enoshima (Danganronpa)
Junko is that werid one of I want her to stay dead but like keep her memory alive.
Because it makes sense too, woman caused the apocalypse.
And if we're still operating in that universe it makes sense she'd be bought up, especially after the fact.
But I don't think Junko herself should be bought back.
I get why they did it in Danganronpa 2 because it made sense.
But after, I don't think Junko needs to keep being our main bad guy.
I think exploring the word, her followers and hell people have nothing to do with her would be a lot of fun.
If they do bring her back I'm not gonna be mad, just think hey if we can have multiple protags it'd be fun to have multiple villians too.
She can't carry all of this on her own.
If they do bring her back, kinda defeats the purpose of her death.
Of why it meant so much to her, why she had to lose to Makoto the ultimate hope and her own class.
She lost but she also won.
It's such a huge thing and to bring her back and than kill her later it really deminishes the impact her death had.
... That and...She'd need a whole new body because who knows what happened to her corpse.
.
Coming back to life: Matsuda Yasuke (Danganronpa)
Speaking of followers of Junko I'd like to see.
We know little about Matsuda, given he's only appeared in Danganronpa Zero.
I think him being around would be really interesting especially in a world where Junko stays dead.
Because Matsuda is that complex thing of being someone infatuated and in love with Junko.
He was her childhood friend and boyfriend after all.
But also someone who wants her to change.
He created a version of her devoid of despair and he'd be happy to keep her that way.
Which is a unique perspective because most Junko followers think she's the most perfect thing ever.
And I think having that perspective would make for an interesting story.
Because no one really sees Junko as a fully realised person, not even Mukuro her own sister.
Also even aside from Junko, Matsuda also plays a huge role in the killing game's.
He's the one responsible for the memory wipes.
Being the Ultimate Neurologist.
I personally would love to see the memory stuff explored given it was always second to the killing games.
I get why but it's so cool and not something we talk enough about. Wonder if he was scouted by Hope's Peak not just for having a talent but for it's usages.
Say... The Kamakura project 👀.
I dunno but I think Junko's boy toy deserves some time in the spotlight.
.
Staying dead: The Grabber (The Black Phone)
His death was not only deserved.
It was fucking satisfying.
Watching Finney use everything the other boys gave him to beat that fucker.
That has kept him hostage, killed several others and is now getting his just deserts.
Was glorious.
... And I'm well aware that there's a sequel coming.
And I'm just hoping he stays dead.
Because not only do the ghost boys, Finney and Gwenny deserve to rest.
The Grabbers death was just perfectly set up and delivered so brutally.
That him being alive and returning to die later kinda ruins the ending.
Because it's Finney's fight to freedom.
I mean if that's the way they go with it, I can't say I'm not intrigued but yeah... Not in a rush to see him again.
Would much rather see someone else wear that mask.
.
Coming back to life: Sammy Emily (Five nights at Freddy’s)
The fact everyone dies and comes back to life in this series.
But not Sammy is a crime.
I'm sorry but the story about the mysterious twin brother of the girl who becomes the puppet.
Is something I wanna see.
I know he's only been mentioned vaguely in the Silver Eyes books.
But that's only more reason.
Just Sammy who's thought be dead for years raised by his mother and having an unexplainable connection to Freddys.
I mean tons of kids in the Fazbear Frights books have been drawn or compelled to go to Freddys.
His would make the most sense.
Maybe Williams after him?
Maybe it's Charlie in the Pizzaplex recognising and calling out to him.
Maybe he's the new night guard at the place trying to figure out what happened here... And why it feels familiar.
Maybe he knows about Freddy’s but he knows Charlie was taken and killed.
A parallel to Charlie thinking it was him in the original books.
Maybe he's out for revenge or just trying to find his missing sister.
There's so many possibilities.
I'm just saying if we can get a book about Sea Bonnie's we can get a Sammy Emily story.
.
Well that's my list.
Feel free to add your own, I'm curious.

Around an ice cream
Summary: Jessica went to the park with Jack when Hotch was working and the little boy has a curious reaction when he saw her with an ice cream too.
Characters: Jack Hotchner and Jessica Brooks (and a tiny bit of Hotch in the end)
Contents: TW this text is really, really angsty but there is an happy ending. Indeed, Jessica is explaining what grief and guilt are to her five years old nephew, so it's not funny at all
This is a text written for the KidFic CM challenge organized by @imagining-in-the-margins.
PS : English is not my mother language so they are necessarily mistakes. Sorry about that.
___
“You get an ice cream?”
Jessica was caught off guard by Jack's questioning. His small hand in hers, her nephew looked at her as if she'd done something exceptional. At five years old, he still had a lot to learn, but the query was still surprising.
“Yes. Adults like ice cream too, you know.”
Taking care of the little one in place of his father – who worked all week from very early in the morning to very late at night – she had taken advantage of the fine weather to take him out for some fresh air. The sight of the ice-cream truck had prompted her to offer one to the toddler, whose eyes lit up as he retrieved his cone. At the same time, she had decided to treat herself too, and had set her sights on a coffee ball.
“Dad, when we go to the park together, he never takes ice cream,” continued the boy, intrigued.
“Really?” she reacted with a twinge of sadness.
“Yes.”
A dizziness seized her furtively and she breathed in hard to keep from wavering. She knew that, despite his fake smile, her ex-brother-in-law wasn't well, but she didn't know it was this bad. However, she felt the child was far too young to know any better. So, she opted for a white lie:
“… Maybe he doesn’t like that. Some people prefer to eat salty foods rather than sweet ones.”
“But…”
His fine eyebrows furrowed as he pondered what to say while giving his chocolate ball a lick.
“Dad, when we do groceries together, he always asks me what I want and he never takes things that he wants.”
Which didn't surprise her in the least. For as long as she'd known him, she'd consistently seen Aaron bend to the desires of others and wish for nothing for himself. What he needed had always been the last of his priorities, but she had the feeling that it went further than usual. But, once again, she evaded the question so as not to worry the cherub any further.
“He just wants to please you, it’s normal.”
“Why?” bounced the youngster, licking his ice cream again.
“Because it’s what daddies do. They look after their children before themselves.”
“Why?”
“It’s to show them that they love them. And your dad loves you very much.”
She had absolutely no doubt about it but was aware that it wasn't really for this reason that Aaron was ignoring his desires.
“But I also want him to eat things he wants to eat, moaned her little neighbor. It’s always things that I want to eat he eats.”
Jack had inherited the generous, benevolent nature of both his parents, and his father's lack of impulses obviously unsettled him greatly. She understood his concern and wondered whether she shouldn't discuss it with the giant face to face, but quickly realized that he would agree to reassure her without changing his behavior. He was, yet, in no emotional state to give himself a break. At least, it was obvious that her words wouldn't reach him, even if she was right. But if…
“… Have you told him yet?”
“No.”
“Maybe you should tell him.”
He opened his eyes wide, completely forgetting his ice cream melting on his sleeve, and suggested, hesitantly:
“Can’t you tell him?”
“I think it'll work better if you tell him.”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
She took his hand again and smiled to calm him, then they walked to a shady bench. Jack ate his ice cream almost reflexively. He wasn't at all enjoying this pleasure his aunt had wanted to give him. A reaction that gripped her heart. She would have liked some levity in the daily life of this little boy who had just undergone a terrible ordeal, but the mini wheels of his developing brain cluttered his mind with a multitude of questions, and it was her duty as an adult to answer them.
“What's the matter, sweetie?” she asked, not without some trepidation.
“Why does he do that?” he reacted right away, raising his hazel eyes to her.
“Why does he do what?”
“He always does what I want, he clarified, his small legs swinging in the air. When we play a game, I always choose.”
She could already see what he was getting at, and an answer immediately formed in her head, but she pushed it away with all her might. It was inconceivable to discuss such things with a toddler barely five years old.
“Games for adults are too complicated for you to understand, darling.”
“I also choose the evening movies.”
“You wouldn't be able to see the movies he can. They're too violent or too complex for a child your age.”
“On weekends, when we do an activity, it's always an activity for me. Never for him.”
“But you'd be bored in an adult activity, dear.”
Jessica crossed her fingers that this would be enough to make him think that everything was fine, that his father was simply adapting his behavior in the presence of his offspring.
“But... hiccupped the latter, his eyebrows furrowed; he could go with some friends of his and I'd go to your place, or Grandma Ada's, or Grandma Helen's.”
It was a failure. Clearly, Jack had also inherited his father's foresight and propensity for not wanting to disturb those closest to him. If he was allowed to do things and have fun with other children, then it was only right that his sire should be allowed to do the same. Which he didn’t. And she knew why. But explaining it to someone so young without frightening, shocking or saddening them was a daunting task. But she had already realized that she wouldn't be able to ignore it completely, as this inquiry had been burrowing into her nephew's mind for too long.
She then took a deep breath and, swallowing to try and get rid of the knot in her throat, she launched herself into her own words:
“… Okay. Have you ever felt that unpleasant sensation in your body when you know you've done bad things, but nobody knows it yet?”
“Yes,” he admitted, shaking his head.
“Well, it’s what we call guilt. And your daddy, he feels that a... – she couldn't bring herself to say: "all the time", even though it was the truth – very often.”
Jack stared at her with an attention that required her to concentrate harder than ever to conceal her emotions. She didn't have Aaron's mastery of this exercise and felt she would struggle to get to the end of her talk without letting out a tear. She was very attached to her ex-brother-in-law despite everything that had happened, and knowing he was in such pain crushed her insides.
“Why? Does he do bad things?”
“Actually, he doesn't, but he thinks he does.”
“I don't get it,” confessed her nephew, pouting.
Which was hardly surprising. Even for the people around him, it was a phenomenon difficult to understand. But the fact was, that's exactly what it was: he blamed himself for things no one blamed him for. There must surely be a technical term for this, except that she didn't know what it was. The people around him who were aware of this aspect of his personality downplayed his fears – perhaps with the idea of appeasing him and getting him to move on to another subject – or made fun of them without investigating the origin of this negative attitude. She wasn't an expert on the subject, but she'd been around the giant long enough to be able to claim to have a pretty good grasp of the character. And what her sister's son told her worried her greatly.
“It’s… it's a bit complicated to explain, sweetheart,” she declared, hoping this would encourage him to give up the game.
“Just explain it in words for small ones.”
“What?” she croaked, surprised.
“That's how Dad explains things to me. With words for little ones,” he said, dipping his tongue into the cone to retrieve the melted ice.
She could add stubbornness to the list of things he'd inherited from his parents, Haley and Aaron having been and being quite stubborn on certain points, never wanting to budge despite an informed counterargument. Jessica sighed and tried to organize her thoughts, putting the darkest ones at the bottom of the list, and hoping she wouldn't need to pull them out.
“…Your dad feels guilty because he's not there to take care of you.”
“He is. He was here last night, affirmed the youngster, before continuing. And the night before. And the weekend before. And many other days before too.”
She couldn't help smiling at the simplicity of the boy's reasoning. He didn't see his father every day, but he had no problem with that. If only Aaron could see it that way...
“Yes, but he thinks he should be with you all the time.”
“But he can't, he has to work. He's got to catch the bad guys,” Jack objected in a matter-of-fact tone.
“Yes, but in his head, he thinks he should take care of you first before dealing with the bad guys. And… - she hesitated, aware that she was venturing onto a slippery slope - he thinks I mind taking care of you.”
Anxiety took shape on the spot on the little boy's very expressive face, with chocolate all around his mouth and even on the tip of his nose.
“You mind?”
“Not at all, angel, she reassured him immediately. I love taking care of you. You’re my nephew, it’ll never bother me.”
It would have been a lie to say it wasn't a heavy load, but she had no children of her own and, with Haley gone, she was left with only her descendant to deal with this early and brutal grief. Jack was the glimmer of joy that encouraged her to get up every morning and showed her the way. He still had so much to learn and so much to discover that she didn't care how much energy she had to expend to accomplish her mission. She was happy to be there, by his side, at every new step he took in his life as a human being. Seeing him smile and hearing him laugh nourished her body with new strength every day.
“So why does Dad think it bothers you?”
“Because that's the way he thinks. He thinks he's annoying everyone; she attested as a vise tightened around her ribcage. He… he thinks he is a bad father.”
And she hadn't had to guess, since he'd told her so openly. Multiple times.
“No! It’s not true!” shouted Jack, outraged.
“I know. I never cease to tell him, but… he doesn’t listen much.”
He didn’t listen at all. This was one of the subjects on which his obstinacy made him deaf to any attempt to make him return to other feelings.
“Why?”
The young woman felt tears welling up in her eyes as she realized she had no other option but to get to the heart of the matter. From her point of view, it was too much for the toddler to grasp, but it was the key to understanding the strangeness of his father's behavior. It was up to her to find the wording least offensive to him.
“…You know, your dad blames himself a lot for what happened to your mom.”
“He didn't hurt her!” the boy defended him on the spot.
“I know, and deep down he knows it too, but he still thinks he's the reason why you don't have a mom anymore. He…”
She had to stop to take a deep breath and push back the pain that was crushing her ribs. The tragedy had burned a hole in her memory, and just thinking about it again, however briefly, was torture. She couldn't imagine what it was like for someone who had experienced it from the inside.
“The bad man who did this was someone his team was looking for, she managed to resume. They found him, put him in prison, but he escaped. And because he was so angry with your dad, he decided to hurt him. And… and that's how it all happened,” she abbreviated, both for him and for herself.
She struggled to breathe and could no longer bear the steady gaze of her miniature interlocutor, stressed by seeing her in such a state. But she has to go on. Getting to the bottom of her explanation, with all the emotional burden that entailed.
“So, your dad thinks that... without him... you'd... you'd still have your mom.”
The tears overflowed and ran down her cheeks at full speed. She didn't even have the reflex to chase them away, hurt by her own words.
“And he… - she sniffed, her voice trembling beyond her control – he often thinks that... that he would have preferred that... that your mom was still alive, and him, not.”
“NO! No! exclaimed her nephew, starting to cry in his turn. No, I don’t want! I want Dad! I’m sad for Mom, but I want Dad!”
Jessica immediately put her arms around him to reassure him. He nestled his little head against her chest and his fingers clung to her blouse.
“Of course, sweetheart, she said, blowing kisses into his hair. But… that's why he doesn't want anything for himself. He… he thinks he doesn’t deserve it.”
“It's so sad!” moaned the toddler, his face still buried between her breasts.
“Yes, it is. You know, your dad loved your mom very, very much. For him, it's very hard to go on without her.”
It had already been very difficult for him to accept the request for divorce – he had seemed thinner every time he rang her doorbell to see his son –, so losing her forever seemed like an interminable ordeal for him.
“Did Mom love Dad very, very much, too?” inquired Jack, looking up at her.
She noticed the chocolate stains lining her top but decided not to hold it against the culprit. The question he had just asked required her to weigh her words. Love stories in cartoons were always very simple, but reality was far more complex.
“… In the past, yes. Then, one day, she stopped loving him and, as you may not remember, they ceased living in the same house.”
Barely two years old at the time, he had moved from one home to another, before returning to the first, always with the familiar presence of his mother by his side. His father's absence hadn't troubled him any more than that. For Haley, this had been further proof of Aaron's lack of involvement. Jessica had put it down more to his age, which didn't allow him to grasp that having only one parent wasn't necessarily the norm. According to her, he was satisfied with the mere fact that someone was providing for him, without worrying about who was doing it. But maybe it was a combination of both.
“Why did she stop loving him?” the little boy wanted to know, chewing his cone.
“That’s just the way things are. For years, you love something and then, one day, you stop loving it. It’s life.”
“But I don't want to stop loving Dad, he whimpered, panicking at the prospect. And I don't want to stop loving you.”
She was touched by his words and felt the vise loosen its grip around her torso.
“Don't worry, you'll always love him, I'll always love you and we'll always love you, she assured him, kissing him on the forehead. It's just for people who don't know each other before that it happens. But know this: if your mom stopped loving your dad, it had nothing to do with you.”
This was the most important detail he had to remember about their separation. It wasn’t his fault. His arrival had only brought to light the dissensions that had already existed between them for several years. Sooner or later, with or without him, they would rise to the surface and drive them apart, despite all the love he still had for her.
“… Is it because of what happened to Mom that he never laughs?” Jack noted, rubbing his hands full of crumbs on his pants.
“Yes, she nodded. But, with time, it will come back. He’ll laugh again.”
“I can’t wait.”
“We all can’t wait, she revealed with a smile, before bouncing back. You know what?”
“What?”
“You should tell him right away, as soon as you see him, that you want him to eat things he wants to eat. It should speed things up.”
“You think so?”
“Yes.”
The boy's mouth stretched from ear to ear. The idea of making his dad happy again seemed to give him the courage to face him, and he pulled her arm most of the way home. And they were surprised to discover that the giant was there, back from Quantico. Not long, since he was still wearing almost everything in his suit, only his jacket having been hung on the back of a chair. He held the mail in his hand and immediately looked up when the door opened.
“DADDY!”
A shy smile appeared on the narrow face of the owner of the premises, who knelt to welcome his son as he should have done:
“Hey! Hi, champ!”
Jack jumped into his arms and Aaron gave him a kiss on the temple. In return, the toddler gave him a peck on the cheek and clung to his neck. The BAU director got to his feet without letting go, as if he weighed no more than a feather.
“You were at the park?”
“Yes. We even had ice cream,” his son told him with undeniable pride.
“That’s good. Do you like it?”
“Yes, he said before he screamed into his ear. Dad!”
“Yes?” he replied, suppressing a grimace.
“Next time we go to the park together, I want you to have an ice cream too.”
The injunction obviously baffled his progenitor, who watched him, eyebrows furrowed.
“… Why?”
“Because you deserve an ice cream too.”
Unsettled by the determined look on his face, he turned his attention to Jessica, who shrugged her shoulders in feigned ignorance. For the subterfuge to work, it was preferable that he didn't know that the plan had been drawn up by her.
“O… okay, I'll have an ice cream then,” he announced, still puzzled.
“Deal?” insisted his descendant, staring intently at him.
Aaron cast a brief, frightened glance in the direction of his ex-sister-in-law, who pretended to wait for his reply, then returned to his budding inquisitor.
“… Deal.”
“Yeah!” exulted Jack, brandishing both fists skyward.
His aunt smiled, relieved. A small step had been taken, now all the others remained to be done.
___
I had this idea when, doing groceries, I heard a young boy saying to his father that: "it doesn't matter". I didn't know what they were talking about but this young kid telling his (single?) father that it was okay, made me think about the relationship between Jack and his father.
Because Jack does care about his father a lot (the way his father does care about his team) and we all know that scene where he won't talk about his mother because it makes Aaron sad.
So, Jack worrying about the fact his father doesn't want anything for himself could be thing too. Then here it is. :)

ruling queens of númenor - headcanons and opinions:
tar-ancalimë: I think she made it very hard for any future ruling queens by being, well, an immeasurably difficult person. and people understood it was because of her shitty upbringing! - but it didn't make her easier to deal with and many felt she didn't even try to move past it... from a governing point of view, it was assumed by some that she'd begin prioritising women in political circles, but oddly enough she didn't? she made it pretty obvious what she thought of men, but she expected the women she interacted with to have the same opinions as her on the subject, and when that wasn't feasible she showed them even greater contempt than their counterparts of the other sex. and as queen... she wasn't a very bad ruler but made it way too obvious that many of her decisions were fuelled by spite, usually towards her late father and husband. in her life however, she was pitied as much as hated, though that pity didn't last for future generations.
tar-telperien: I feel like there would have been considerable mistrust towards her initially because of how tar-ancalimë was remembered, but she ended up being one of númenor's best loved rulers. she was a very fortunate mixture of majestic and warm, her one major fault being that she could be terribly stubborn at times, but somehow people were willing to forgive that. and yes, she never had a romantic liaison in her life, aside maybe from an infatuation or two when she was very young... also I think she had several younger brothers and very good relationships with them. there would have been a lot of space for conflict there because there was no precedence in númenor's history for a daughter with male siblings inheriting the sceptre, but ultimately relationships in her family were surprisingly healthy given what the former generations were like. there may have been some slight jealousy on the part of one or more of them, but they knew the law was fair and didn't let it show... also in a weird flashback to her sindarin ancestors, she had silver hair, hence her name
tar-vanimeldë: I don't really have too much to say about her... I feel she's been given something of a short shrift by the narrative, though otoh it's still more than we have for some other kings... much ink has been spilled about how odd the ratio of kings to queens is in númenor if we consider that the law was absolute primogeniture from ancalimë on. I believe jrrt just didn't think it through well enough, however it certainly encourages one to conclude that there was a bunch of eldest princesses that something happened to; my personal theory being that the fact a woman could turn down the sceptre without even a nominal coronation meant that it was very easy for someone to force her to decline... that said - I don't think vanimeldë was ever interested in ruling and I believe it was her more ambitious husband who helped her through that initial precariousness. she can't have been too glad once she realised he had basically usurped her (because people don't just steal the rule from under their sons without any iffy behaviour before that - or did hallacar invent some weird justification for the latter?), but I don't think she felt she could do anything about it.
tar-miriel: first of all, i kind of like that one version in which she marries pharazon of her own will. I'm not sure what that version goes on to say, but as I imagine it - first she agreed that they be co-rulers; her position was precarious enough, she believed it would be good for politics and she liked and trusted him. but he went on to steal the throne from under her and she never learned if that was what he had been planning to do from the beginning. the rest is history and her personal tragedy. what happened with sauron was not her fault, but she would lie awake at night and blame herself... interestingly enough, the faithful never did and around half of them believed she was forced into the marriage anyway... I have a lot more to say about her, in fact, enough that I think I'll make a separate post, but for now I'll only add that I personally headcanon that while tar-palantir stayed faithful to the end, despite the failure of all his plans, miriel chafed. her father understood that no one could force the númenoreans to change against their will (I mean I guess Eru presumably could? but obviously he wouldn't, because free will), but she didn't and felt betrayed... I think that she had to regain faith before the end, because otherwise it's too bitter a tale, to live through terror without knowing there is good one can rely on. the tale is bitter anyhow, but she did not die in despair.

Hello. I’m a longtime fan and current author on the SCP wiki, and I wanted to say that your articles have been really important in shaping my headcanon and getting me to join the wiki.
I’ve been writing a Resurrection-adjacent series for a while, and while I included Sparkplug in one tale so far I want to use them more down the line. Do you have any advice when it comes to writing them or are there things you think I should have? Also, sort of related, but is Kitten augmented somehow or is she just Like That?
Watch a lot of military fiction. Band of Brothers, Generation Kill, Call of Duty, etc.
Sparkplug is kind of the opposite of those guys.
Not in the competency: they are extremely competent at what they do, but they didn't buy into the military moto hype. Bullfrog and Skunkboy both had prior military experience, and both of them quit because they couldn't stand the bullshit that comes with being in the military. Skunkboy especially, I think, couldn't fucking stand the whole Marine Corps Hoorah culture thing, which is why he uses "Semper Fi" like it's a swear word.
Do not imagine that this means that they won't fuck up your shit if they have to. But their primary mission is NOT to be the biggest badasses on the planet: their job is to go in, find out what the fuck is happening, and GET THE WORD OUT.
Now, most of the stories about Sparkplug are the times that things went bad and they went hot. Kind of like how most of the stories about Star Trek aren't about the times that the Enterprise was on a diplomatic mission and nothing bad happened. I figure 90% of Sparkplug's missions are to go into a small town, talk to some locals, do a little hiking, and call back to PHYSICS HQ saying, "False alarm, it was just some teenagers flying a drone."
I know you asked about Kitten specifically, but in my head, the four members of Sparkplug's anomalous traits are:
Bullfrog: None. He's just an experienced soldier and a respected leader.
Skunkboy: No anomalous traits confirmed, but he has a nearly supernatural talent for 3D visualization, which mostly manifests in nearly supernatural accuracy with a rifle, but probably has a lot of other uses if you really think about it.
Kitten: Has a unique series of mutations that make her fast, strong and tough, with ridiculous stamina and endurance. She's also over six feet and a half tall and built like a brick shithouse. Downside is that she gets extremely antsy if she has to sit still for very long: she finds it hard to sleep without working out to exhaustion first.
Spider: The Type Blue. Her area of specialty is ancient magic styles, particularly Celtic druidcraft. If she were a hacker, she'd be the type who uses an old style beige clicky keyboard from the 1980s because it just feels better than modern ones.

Are there any girls you struggle to fit well into ships? As in, you don't necessarily dislike their ships, but find it a bit difficult to imagine them having an actual relationship? I have that problem with Miu (I feel like she'd need a super patient partner not to get dumped in a month with how... Intense she is) and Mukuro (she has a lot going on but without the manipulative drive Junko has that makes her ships so interesting).
Like I think there are ships that can work with them but in general it's kind of like... Hard to consider most of them starting or lasting any amount of time.
There's not a character I have no ships for, just by nature of running this blog for so long. But I do have to have Mikan and Chiaki ships pushed directly in front of me before I generate a lot of enthusiasm for them.
For one thing, they're probably two of the only three girls in the series where my preferred ship with them is a boy (the third being Kyoko, but that girl is a shipping magnet). But in Mikan's situation in particular, I actually feel very strongly that her traumatic experiences, both pre-canon and through Junko, leave her completely sex-repulsed and potentially romance-repulsed. I think after a long, long time has passed, Mikan may be comfortable enough to try to have relationships again. But Mikan's self worth is so low, and so contingent on a relationship, that I think the only way she can truly heal is without romance. That girl needs to play some bad pop music.
I don't have as strong a reason for not being into many Chiaki ships. If I had to point to a cause, it's probably because running this blog has given me a great affection with unloved female characters. Chiaki, as perhaps The most beloved female character, is one that I don't have to seek out as often, and so she's shifted to the side in my brain in favor of the characters I need to more actively search for.
And, to clarify: I do have & enjoy f/f Chiaki and Mikan ships! They're just ships I don't actively think of as much, and I'm not often struck by Emotions TM for them the way I am with some other girls
