I’ve spoken about my issues with Pinky’s designs before. She draws animatronics just fine, but... The humans? ... They exist... Most don’t look bad, they just have same face syndrome(Will and Hen look related). Jessica’s design was just a “haha hot blonde” caricature and wasn’t thought out much more than that. The style is trying too hard to be Disney but falls short- especially because this is a HORROR SERIES and not a FAIRYTALE... MIXED WITH SOME ANIME ELEMENTS FOR REASONS?????

I don’t know if it should be in a different style or maybe if Pinky had mastered this style better it wouldve looked better, but it’s just choppy. She’s clearly out of her element and it shows, which sucks because like she’s a really good artist! ... I should also add that if this was done by just some random person I’d give it all the credit in the world, but because this is the official artist getting paid for this- and I KNOW she can do better- that’s why I’m being so hard on her. Because I know this work didn’t live up to her full potential.

The colors were done by a “Laurie Smith”, not Pinky, and it’s... embarrassing.

F... Fully saturated... bright red... “blood”. ... Someone got paid for this. I- this actually hurts my eyes, I can’t look at it for too long, it’s too bright and contrasted. 

Many of my friends have said that toning down saturation for the whole novel would be a HUGE fix, and I agree. It’s too bright and colorful for a horror novel, and could really use a lot more color theory(not just RED GRADIENT BECAUSE SOMETHINGS SHOCKING and OCCASIONAL GREEN LIGHT FROM NOWHERE, im talking overarching color theming, which is a whole long topic on its own)

I’m sure Laurie is a fine artist... maybe she needed more direction. Maybe she’s just a colorist, not in the fnaf fandom, so maybe she doesn’t usually work in the horror genre? Maybe she was just given “here’s what the character’s color schemes are” and had to figure it out on her own? I’m not behind the scenes, I don’t know the full story. I’m gonna give her the benefit of the doubt... but my God, this is awful compared to how good it would’ve looked with proper coloring.

As for the actual writing/pacing/layout

... eh.

Idk whose hands this was in: Scott’s, Kira’s, Pinky’s, some combo, so I don’t know who to be pointing at for this but. Eh. It’s okay, nothing insulting or cringey, at least. 

The pacing is rushed, but I expected that. You have to rush the story in order to fit a 500-page novel into a 200-page graphic novel. I won’t get upset at anyone for this.

But... the layout... eh. I think the problem is that Scott, Kira, and Pinky- none of them are graphic novel artists. Yes, Pinky is an artist, but making single illustrations(like the amazing ones up top) and making a graphic novel are two extremely different arts. Graphic novels aren’t just pictures with text added, you’re telling the story through the images. There are a lot of “1 hour later”s and “...”s the like, which is a super amateur thing to do. You can convey emotions, time skips, mood, etc without having a text bubble for it. Again, nothing against Pinky, but she’s clearly out of her element here and the novel is suffering as a result. 

Honestly, I feel like hiring someone with graphic novel experience instead of hiring Pinky would’ve been a much better call. She’s a good artist, but just... not a good graphic novel artist yet, y’know?

I mean, I got a lot of laughs and memes out of this! ... Only it’s supposed to be sad and scary rather that hilarious and meme-tastic. So... props for ironic enjoyment, at least?

i. i am not your mother’s/father’s yu.ffie blog. while i do have a verse reserved for compilation content, that’s not the main premise of this blog. if you came here for oversexualized underage ninjas.... i’m going to have to direct you elsewhere. out here we’re primarily an adult modern interpretation... who does not daylight as a ninja constantly. she can, however, be a y.akuza or a sheltered member of high society who enjoys kicking ass for justice so if you’re interested in that, y’know. c’mon down.

ii. the typical ‘ yu.ffie is a kleptomaniac ’ / ‘ stop stealing my stuff ’ trope is like. one that grates my very existence. i have talked about this many times, but for those of you who are new: yufi has only stolen out of necessity to her cause. the only time i’ll refer to petty theft on this blog is if she like steals a fry or something. if we’re joking around, okay, but... please don’t consider that to be the sole core of her characterization. i’m begging. i’m on my knees. i’m warning you, i’ll cry and then i’ll probably ignore whatever post you’ve mentioned it in if you’re serious. just. don’t be that person if you’re following me.

if we’re going into it, the only times she’s stolen anything were: > in crisis core, as the ‘ treasure princess. ’  but this is arguable, as the treasure is truly up for grabs to start with & zack repeatedly goes after these locations she’s sent to him ( which, by the way, were sent to her from rufus to attempt to retaliate against + destroy shinra hq ). zack already knew what was up when: 1) she showed up in his spam folder; 2) she literally said she’s on the hunt for treasure; and 3) he knew at least after the second time that he was gon’ get goinked ( please see definition #2 ) so... can’t help him there. > in vanilla vii, when the party is foolish enough to meet her and not recruit her off the bat ( it be ya own self ). to be fair, 99% of her interactions with easterners / non-wutai prior to that moment had been people who either wanted to kill her or exploit her, so... it’s only self-preservation to use them before they use her or worse, leave her for dead. a sad reality for a 16 year old. > in vanilla vii, only after the party arrives to wutai & she thinks she can successfully finish her mission of “ getting all the strongest materia. ” after she’s captured, she does apologize, and then afterward makes cloud sign it in writing. so. y’know, she did learn from her mistake & said “ ugh, guess i gotta put that diplomacy training to use. ”

y’all could argue that she’s a thief class and that’s what they do, but note that it’s NOT one of her core skills-- it’s a MATERIA. which means everyone out there with a steal materia could be out here being a kleptomaniac. cloud? barret? tifa? red xiii? none of your favs are safe. her skills in the game, however, are shit called “ blood festival ” ( oh? see the username’s relevance all of a sudden? aha! ) and “ doom of the living. ”  she’s out here summoning ghosts and reigning otherworldly power on ur ass but... fandom wasn’t ready for that conversation !!  some folks were too BASIC and couldn’t handle her true strength... so i will gladly champion that for you.

iii. i like to emphasize that yufi is an emotionally strong yet traumatized figure, which stems from her origins and that i just put that in the forefront. we have a character who is haunted by her mother who died after childbirth, seemingly rejected from her father yet held to the highest of his standards, has attachment issues because she’s the “ black sheep ” and doesn’t just accept defeat or dejection even if it comes from her core community, survived multiple wars, has led in post-war rescue efforts on multiple occasions, was wrongfully imprisoned, was on the forefront of pandemic outbreaks as a first-responder, joins and rises to the top of an organization created to restore world order, is one of the two top operatives in said organization ( and the one out on the field longer--sorry vin.cent, but u only got involved at lu.cretia and when the actual gunshots disturbed your brooding and wine session filled isolation sessions. but like, mood tho ), pretends to be cheery despite clearly remembering all the hauntings and death and other bullshit she’s been facing since she was a toddler.... oh, and she disarmed bombs when her country was wrongfully targeted + used as political bait for terrorists...when she was a child. that’s canon, if we’re talking about  “ accuracy. ” even in vanilla vii, she had no outlets, no one to turn to, ‘cause everyone was cloud vc: “ not interested. ”  

so if you’re on this blog, it’s not like you won’t see happy  yufi... but realize that i recognize that she is multifaceted and has a lot of baggage. emotional issues which unfortunately i bring to every verse gfdohfofh but u know, it’s core to her character + y’all gon have to deal, or... idk, go find another yufi. i’m not forcing you to be here.

iv. in my opinion, the best plotting comes with ooc conversations/interactions. i’m not saying if we plot that we’re required to be friends, ‘cause i don’t wanna force anyone into friendship, but i truly believe that if you want super deep plots with frequent interactions, we should... probably talk more than once. pretty simple, imo !  sometimes people claim i play favorites, but i really don’t... if you never talk to me and you don’t respond to my attempts to interact, then how am i supposed to know you’re interested? 

as a general rule, i’ll put in as much effort as i receive. if i see you’re interested in me, if we’re really vibing when it comes to plotting, if you’re sending asks & liking posts, we’ve got some threads going, rad !  if i like starter calls and send you asks and message you and you never respond to me... ?  i’ll take that as a sign you don’t wanna talk + i should move on to someone else. if i’m wrong, well... do something to change my mind.

hi all. i just finished this book (this book!!!) and while i read i took random notes. if you’ve read my re-read posts from trb and tdt, you’ll know the drill, which is: i comment only on what i personally find to be important at any given time, i am largely incoherent, i’m just trying to have fun with these books i love deeply and only kind of understand.

this is the first one of these posts i’ve done for a book i haven’t discussed with anyone at length! i’m not a big theorizing person on my own, so many of my theories are small, underdeveloped, and obviously not true.

1. What was your first thought this morning? I woke up from a dream that had something to do with some cathuman turning into a werewolf-like cat creature at nights and it never had a memory of it in the daytime, and they often were asleep and we (idk who I was or who the other people were) were going somewhere with a helicopter and wondering how to keep this catperson’s neck from hurting because they had passed out and the helicopter was moving. It was like waking up in the middle of the dream so I was super tired, and then realized I was thinking about a certain episode of The X-Files and thinking how “that was actually a really good episode if you think about it!”

5. What was the last movie you watched? Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. And before that we watched Corpse Bride too because we’ve have this Tim Burton movie marathon going with my siblings for the past year probably.

10. What color is the wall opposite you right now? White. Finland has normally just white walls - except for some expensive new houses (or old houses and cottages that can have wooden walls). But there’s a Deadpool poster so that’s nice.

12. Share something you have changed your mind on. You used to think one way, now you think differently. I gotta say: global warming. Or I have never really thought differently, I have been aware of it since I was a teenager (in the mid 00s) but it just caused me so much anxiety and was a part of my first mental breakdown at the age of 15, that I just totally blocked it out of my head. I basically was like “if I don’t think about it, it doesn’t exist”. I have anxiety disorder and as a kid I already had a fear of the news. Hearing the news theme song gave me anxiety attacks and I was always feeling like I need to throw up when I was reading a newspaper and saw the pages with the word “foreign countries” on it and tried my best not to look at anything said on those pages as I skipped them, so that I won’t lose my good night’s sleep. I was often having sleepless nights because of worrying about wars, atomic bombs, UFOs and aliens, planes... Finland has always felt so safe to me so I was so afraid of anything that could happen to Finland because of the foreign countries.

So I was having a mental breakdown when I was 15 and felt like I couldn’t run away from the topic “global warming”. Even my English study book was trying to guilt shame us for the things we did, I had just started wearing jeans the year before and them my English books literally says how I’m destroying the world by wearing jeans. And it was just too much. And then the movie “The Day After Tomorrow” came out and we were supposed to go to see it in the movies with my school and I got my mom to write me a note about how I don’t need to go to see that film, and I never did, because already the thought of the movie caused me even more anxiety. I still haven’t seen that movie, and never will watch it. I don’t like catastrophe movies at all.

So, nowadays I’m more aware of this and I don’t block it anymore, and it doesn’t give me as much anxiety as it did. It’s still a terrible topic but now I actually do what I can do and I tell myself that it’s enough that I try my best, it’s still better and more than nothing. Some days I still do feel very terrible and start having the anxiety from carrying the weight of the whole world’s worries on my shoulders but... in the end, I’m still trying my best. I have been told nothing I do counts because I still eat (organic, local) meat occassionally and people (well, one particular one I don’t talk to anymore...) have been trying to guilt shame me into oblivion because of that. But I do think it still counts that I choose eco-friendly cleaning products over those toxic ones (here also my anxiety plays a part, I have ocd-like contamination fears if I handle toxic cleaning stuff), and the fact I only eat organic meat whenever I eat meat, I buy only organic foods and products when possible, I buy MSC or ASC fish only, and I recycle and try to minimize the amount of water I use (also my water bill won’t be as big then). All these still count, because it’s still better than doing nothing. And it’s more important to listen to yourself because there’s no point in building a world you want if that will kill you in the process.

14. What have you learned from your time on tumblr? Nothing? :D:D:D:D No but, I don’t really have memory of anything from here. Which is weird because normally I do remember too much but with Tumblr? I follow blogs I never remember following and I’ve found old messages from people I don’t never remember interacting with and I have rediscovered a few people I had interacted with but didn’t have proper memory of and it’s just so confusing. I only know that in the beginning I was against reblogging because I wanted to be Different and I thought reblogging was stealing so I did basically nothing unless I had something to say. But then I just... stopped caring and now I reblog too much basically and I only like posts from friends and mutuals, and posts that make me so excited reblogging doesn’t feel enough, and posts that I need to find again soon, which is why I keep my liked page hidden because I don’t want to show my friends’ and mutuals’ personal posts to the world. It’s not my business to do that.

21. How do you decide to follow a blog? I usually follow blogs that reblog lots of things that are interesting to me - usually the key is to have a few posts that make me laugh and you’ve got a follower. I don’t like quiet blogs because I want to see stuff on my dash so if I see someone liking but never reblogging anything, I won’t follow. I also follow blogs that don’t have that interesting content if I’ve been interacting with the person behind the blog and it feels better to be mutuals on Tumblr too.

26. Do you drink tap water or spring/mineral water? Tap water. Finland has the cleanest water in the world so it’s perfectly safe to drink. If I don’t have water with me and need to buy a bottle, I usually buy spring water, tho. I don’t like mineral water but I drink it if I have to work in the summer because horse work is very tough work. Tap water (in Finland) is anyway a little bit better and even healthier than bottled water.

Talking of bottled water, the spring water in the bottles is basically same as the tap water - tap water just goes through the water... facilities but you can actually find small springs from the nature and drink from those, but I’m not actually sure anymore if the “spring water” is just an advertising trick - I don’t believe anyone will be sitting in a forest bottling actual spring water after all. Maybe it comes from actual springs and only from certain areas but like... yeah, idk. Anyhow, I’m googling this now.

How I Run My Blog

Speed: Very much like Solas, I operate on Elvhenan time where a month doesn’t feel like a month. I tend towards very slow, with some threads getting faster replies depending on my inspiration. I can leave threads for weeks or a month before I can get around to a reply, especially multiparas. I feel guilty about it sometimes, but I also know that pushing myself to reply often leads to mediocre replies and burnout, and then someone will probably have to wait much longer than a month or so...

Replies: I’m open to one liners, para, multipara, and novella. Novella and multipara though I prefer to be plotted, and even then I prefer it to actually need those 500 words. Threads I struggle with most tbh are those where I can get out what I needed to say in 200-300 words but need to pad them out with navel-gazing in order to get close to matching. For first meetings, easy conversations, etc, I’m more comfortable with around 200-ish words, but it’s all relative. As I said above, I can take a while to reply, although I try to do it in about a month. If we’re friends it might take longer (or if you’re also someone who takes ages to reply, then I know you’re one of my people). I don’t do replies in the order they’re given to me but the order I want to do them (some days I may have only short replies in me, some plotted threads might speak to me more, etc).

I use small text unless I’m rping with someone who doesn’t. I don’t typically format beyond that, if I’m feeling really fancy I might indent a line, and I don’t use sub/small text. I like the shape of the small text, but sub/small is too small for me. I will use icons for anything set in the Dragon Age, and I have some modern Thedas icons, but I’m short on icons for Elvhenan-era and any of my AUs so I tend not to use them there. I also don’t use icons if my partner for that thread doesn’t.

Finally, I schedule my replies usually for a week or two after I’ve written them. It helps give me a little time to breathe and catch up on other things.

Starters: I don’t really make open starters and I’ve been reticent to use starter calls/plotting calls because they don’t tend to garner a lot of interest and that can get discouraging. I prefer light plotting to hammering out every detail of a thread, unless it’s something like an action scene or does require me to ask for more details before I write my reply, although in that case I kind of take it as it comes.

Inbox: The oldest ask in my inbox rn is from January 2019 which should probably tell you how much I keep up with my inbox. Like with replies, I tend to wait until I have a good idea of what I want, although unlike with replies I feel 0 pressure to reply to them in a timely manner. I’ll delete things after a while if I think nothing will ever come to me, or if it was a mutuals-only meme and I got an ask from a non-mutual, etc. 

Selectivity: I’m selective with who I follow, in the past I’ve tried to roleplay with everyone who asks, but with less time and energy to write I’ve had to draw back from that. But at the same time I know I overlook new followers esp when I get an influx. I take asks from everyone, including non-rp blogs.

Wishlist: I have a wishlist here! Probably only half of what would actually be on my wishlist, but I forget to write it down.

WHAT’S YOUR OTP FOR YOUR MUSE?: i just really don’t have one. i don’t have any ships that are really very developed with lola. like, there are things that definitely exist and i enjoy, and that certainly have a lot of potential, but as is i’m not going to call anything an “otp” (also it’s 2020, we don’t say otp anymore).

WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO RP WHEN IT COMES TO SHIPPING?: development of a ship is really important to me. i don’t like to jump forward, and i really don’t like to get into heavier or more intimate stuff before we’ve really talked about them a LOT and had several interactions. i especially don’t like doing fluff in general, so to have that come up too early really gets me anxious cause i don’t wanna be an asshole about it.  it can happen but we really have to get there naturally.

HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?: lola really doesn’t like younger men, but someone could be maybe ten years younger than him at most. he doesn’t care so much about if they’re older (this goes for all ages, but in his main verse obviously there probably isn’t going to be anyone much older). 

personally, as for his younger verses, while it’s part of lola’s canon history that he’s been with men much older than him, that’s not something i want to ship. depending on how young he is, i guess maybe a fifteen year gap would be fine. twenty is a lot if he’s under 40 or so.

ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING?:  yeah, for the most part. i mean, i think i’ve been too willing to explore the possibility of ships in the past and ended up discussing something with someone who i really didn’t mesh with ooc, so the other mun really has to be someone i like and get along with.

lola also just isn’t going to be that shippable. he’s a very difficult person. he really has a lot of issues when it comes to intimacy and his emotions, especially when he’s younger, and can behave in ways that would realistically drive most people off. this is mostly when he was in his 20s; while he still has a lot of issues, it’s easier stuff to deal with, but he’s still not someone who can just easily get into a “normal” relationship.

HOW FAR DO STEAMY MOMENTS HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEY’RE CONSIDERED NS.FW?: i’ve written some one-off smut things before, but if it’s an actual thread, i think it’s n.sfw once there’s any mention of arousal or genitals or whatever. i’d personally prefer to move the thread off-site IF this ever came up, which in my whole time on tumblr this has happened only once, and it happened very naturally and i really enjoyed how that went down. smut is not something i’ve ever looked to write, but i’m not against it, either. again, i would like to have a connection with the other mun before we go there, just for my comfort. it’s less that i’m embarrassed or prudish about these things, it’s that i get nervous wondering if i’m being too raunchy or something or crossing a boundary. that, and, if you don’t really know me and try to write smut with me, i wonder why you don’t care about my boundaries.

WHO ARE OTHER MUSES YOU SHIP YOUR MUSE WITH?: lola is very unlucky with ships and doesn’t have anything with any active muses on tumblr, but he’s had things before.

DOES ONE HAVE TO ASK TO SHIP WITH YOU?:   not necessarily, but i wouldn’t mind if they did. i also wanna be clear that, even if our muses haven’t interacted, if you think, okay, i think these two could potentially be shipped, i don’t mind discussing that as a possible eventuality, with the understanding that it really just may not work out.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU LIKE TO SHIP?: i really just don’t get a lot of ships, but, i’d like to have some good ones some day. in other words, i’m definitely not bogged down with ships, so definitely explore that possibility with me.

Ali: tl;dr: Somebody draw it for me, and since it was kinda my OC, I decided to use it.

And now the full story - that I told here like 3-4 times so far prompted by asks, so sorry to those who remember it. But this is really full story now. A FULL STORY. ALL THE DETAILS, ALL THE LOGO’S LORE. INCLUDING INFO YOU DON’T NEED AT ALL. BRACE YOURSELF.

Some years ago there was this fan project going on called Overtale, which was supposed to be sequel of Undertale following the plot of monster and humans living together on the surface. Since then the project got cancelled due to various issues and all that’s left of it is amazing music (seriously, listen to it, it’s great), some voice acting sneak peeks with very snarky Asriel and full 3D alpha-demo somewhere.

But when the project was still going on I really fallen in love with it and since I was also deeply in love with Papyrus - and still Am - I started a bit obnoxiously roleplaying him on the game project page in comments. Soon that helped me made friends with other fans of the project and then we gathered in this little group on Skype (oh, those times before Discord existed) with plans to make some kind of a video gift for the developers. And then developers themselves noticed us, and since the game was going to be in open world, we got an opportunity to create a little side town filled with characters made by us and with a short side plot line for a player to complete. 

And that let to creation of Ali, red haired, green eyed cat monster, who was  troubled with extreme case of double personality. She was supposed to be one of the shopkeepers in the town. But the town itself was in the midst of a conflict. Split in half, one side supporting beliefs of Sans-like scientist human and other side supporting beliefs of spirtual and kind dog monster. The problem was that Ali loved everybody and wanted to be friends with everybody. She just could not pick one side, it was too hard for her. She ended up developing a second personality, who she claimed was her sister named Ila. And then Ali supported one side of the conflict and Ila the other one. When you would interact with her in the shop, she would try to trick you, ducking under the counter and slightly changing outfits, trying to convince you that one time you talk with her and the other time with her sister, but it was all quite easy to look through. 

I even did some digging around now and found old files with dialogue ideas, I think they fit the humour of Undertale quite well, why not share some of them (the stuff in brackets are comments in the shop’s window or random notes made when this was wrote):

4.  (on FKDK versus UFOP - town’s groups conflict) “People have been shouting at each other in the street a lot, lately. I'm pretty sure it's a new sport someone came up with.”

5.  (on Tree of Threes) “Some say that one of the trees just outside town is actually a were-man! It used to be a normal tree, but then one day a human bit it, and now it transforms into a man under the full moon.”

6.  (on Zwelf) “Zwelf once accidentally ingested a plastic donut while absentmindedly working out a problem. I didn't believe it at first. It was a lot to swallow.”

7.  "[talk][new] “Sir Mallow of Marsh... Bit of a mouthful, if you ask me. Why doesn't he just call himself Sir Marshmallow?”

8. (organisations)

 Ali: “I support the FDKD, of course. That's the (I forgot the acronym ). They (I don't know the answer to this question ). I suppose you wanna hear about the UFOP too? My sister knows more, I'll go get her.” exits to back room to change to Ila 

Ila: “Oh, the UFOP! That's the United Federation of Puns! It's so much pun being a member, we hang out and tell jokes all day, it's great! (idk wtf the UFOP goals are, she woud mention this now). Ugh. There's also the FDKD, but they're lame. No sense of humor whatsoever! Like my sister. Hang on, I'll get her for you, she can tell you more.” exits to back room to change to Ali

So yea, I have much more of those, but that’s probably enough and that was the kind of person Ali was supposed to be!

But then the project got sadly canceled due to personal reasons of the developers. I became quite fond of Ali though. There was more to the whole town idea, eventually it was dropped, then we were supposed to just made OC characters wandering the game world, so Ali changed into wandering merchant you could meet on the road. 

And then, since I had a very detailed desctription of how she was supposed to look like:

“Ali/Ila Appearance: Monster. Short-haired bipedal feline, the base colour of the coat being a concrete grey(#95A5A6), with patches of near-white(#ECF0F1), silver(#BDC3C7) and dark grey(#7F8C8D) which have defined edges, mimicking a tabby-blotchy khaki pattern. The face is intersected by a stripe of silver grey(#BDC3C7), running diagonally from just above the right-eye brow ridge, to the edge of the jaw just below the left side of the mouth. She has a narrow face and jaw; a longer muzzle with her pointed eye-teeth showing whenever she smiles; short ears sticking up through her hair; slitted emerald-green eyes(#00FF33) which are an average depth; and a windswept-styled pixie haircut about 5 inches long, dyed pomegranate red (#C0392B). Ali's body is slightly large, with some muscle present but not obvious. Ali wears a close-fitting scarlet(#FB0012) tee-shirt with a high v-neckline and short sleeves about ¼ the length from shoulder to elbow which has a skeleton's skull printed on it to symbolise her admiration for Papyrus, with a sleeveless green-and-brown khaki vest which is unzipped over the top, plain mid-blue jeans, red(#FB0012) canvas tennis shoes with white laces, and a FDKD pin displayed prominently on her vest. When changing to Ila she swaps her khaki vest for a blue hoodie, zipped up to hide the skull-printed shirt, but with a small skull pendant attached to the zipper tag to demonstrate her admiration for Sans. She also wears a UFOP pin prominently on the front of her hoodie. Ali/Ila's tail is tipped with a fluffed tuft of hair, which she dyes the same shade of red as the hair on her head.“

One of my friends took that and comissioned somebody else to draw her for me. This way I ended up with this lovely and amazing thing:

At first it was all production secret, none of us was allowed to share any of it. But once Overtale got cancelled, the whole project stopped being secret, the main developer even published whole long document with all the plot.

And then I came up with this idea to make a liveblog with Jean and I found myself being extremely lost as to what I should use as the logo. I didn’t want to just grab some picture from the Internet, it just felt wrong to kinda “steal” somebody’s else work. And I wanted it to be something more personal too. 

And then I reminded myself of Ali, the cat monster with personality, hair style and color, and fashion choices modeled after me. It felt like a perfect choice. 

The time of hanging out with other Undertale fans, coming up with creative ideas, chatting about random stuff and chilling together was one of the greatest time of my life. So having Ali here brings me warm and nostalgic emotions. Maybe she never got to be a character in the game, but I could not just let her fade away. So I took her along for this new project.

Do you have any tips or pieces of advice for someone who's looking to start up an rp blog for a character? I have plenty of experience roleplaying, but none of it is with tumblr.

//OH sure sure !! 

lets get the technical stuff out first, make the account for your new blog in advance, before you prepare anything else because tumblr has this anti-bots security system in place which doesnt allow new blog’s posts to show up in the tags (and tags such as #indie rp, #anime rp, #insert show here rp are pretty important in getting ur blog out there). you’ll also have to follow some people, get followed back by at least one, reblog+like some posts before your stuff starts showing up in the tags

of course u can disregard the whole promotion thing and just follow people and wait for them to follow you back, but if u want new people to find you without you actively looking for them, its good to drop something in the rp tag. but again, you dont have to do any of this.

ALSO IM PUTTING THE REST UNDER READ MORE BC IT GOT LENGTHY:

so heres stuff you can prepare (or not, its totally up to you !!)

icons - a relict of dreamwidth era , not necessary but i find that they add some zest to the interactions so personally, im a fan. usually 100px x 100px u can make them fancy or not, your choice. just get some basic facial expressions (but again, you dont NEED them)

themes - some rpers pay a lot of attention to blog themes, i used to be like that but tbh rn i dont think anything beats a nice basic theme w/ a readable font. hit up theme hunter and snag a theme u like !!! OR DON’T, thats totally up to you !!! 

also you can set your blog to dash only in the blog’s settings which means u dont have to bother w/ a theme !! its a popular thing in rpc nowadays !!!

oh and just a hint – id avoid using somebody’s art for icons or elements of theme… i mean sure u can credit them but hardly anybody looks at credits so idk id just avoid it altogether cuz the artists dont like that and theyre absolutely right. i used to use peoples art for icons and i had some artists reach out to me and ask that i dont do that and tbh now i cringe at my past-self for not seeing that its soo disrespectful of the artists

what to put on blog: 

about page - its a page where rpers put some basic information about the character they write as. it can be super important if youre writing as an OC (not many people will follow an OC if they dont know anything about them tbh) !!! if youre writing a canon character u can just resort to filling out a basic dossier (like listing their name, age, whatever… YOU CAN USE THIS and fill out what u like). or you know, do whatever. on cell, i just wrote a piece of Something and linked his wikipedia page lol. do what you feel like, its just a thing in rp community. 

rules page - slightly more important. this is where you set boundaries and introduce yourself ooc. after introductions ur expected to tell people what’s NOT ok by you, for example, you say that godmodding is not ok (godmodding is when people write in their own responses what ur character is doing), maybe shipping is not ok by you, maybe u dont want to write smut ever etc. you put all of that there and any additional info you feel the need to add (for example, asking people to tag certain triggers etc). try to browse other peoples rules pages to get the feel 

verses page - some blogs have a lot of specific verses like idk, an AU in which ur character is evil etc. this is a page where u can put them and add descriptions, UP TO YOU. i find that its less important than about or rules page, focus on those 2 first, especially the rules page bc its what people usually check out first before writing with u!! add verses later !!!

how to start an rp blog: 

OK so lets say you’re prepared and ready to write. i usually post a promo to announce my Arrival to the rp market. take a look at what’s in the indie rp tag for example, just to give you an idea what ppl post there. it used to be REQUIRED to post like… a graphic advertising ur blog but tbh these days u can just drop a text post (preferably with ur icon so that people know which character u write) and you say smth like ‘HELLO, a new (character here) RP blog here!!! like/reblog if youre interested in writing with me!!’ (ofc write whats natural to you, just introduce ur blog in whatever way u feel like it– OR DONT, YOU DONT HAVE TO DO THIS)

BEFORE POSTING A PROMO MAKE SURE YOUR POSTS SHOW UP IN TAGS FIRST. YOU MIGHT HAVE TO FOLLOW SOME PEOPLE FIRST (refer to this) – where to find those rp blogs?? refer to tags below.

what to tag your promo with: remember that only 5 first tags will show up in the search results. so pick some good tags, i think the most important tag is #(show/movie/books name) rp. heres my promo, u can check the tags i used there and come up with your own accordingly. and also browse these tags to find people to follow, like idk, lets say u wanna rp sb from naruto, then u hit up #naruto rp and just scroll and follow ! also avoid using swear words or nsfw words in ur promo bc tumblr will censor it lol

but remember YOU DONT HAVE TO POST A PROMO, THIS IS ENTIRELY UP TO YOU !!!!!

how to start WRITING on an rp blog:

ok so youve gathered some followers, now what. i usually just post a starter call! this is a post that people who want to write with you will like and you in turn will start a thread with them (doesnt have to be IMMEDIATELY, take ur time). you can also reblog rp memes which are like writing prompts people send to you (but i dont recommend starting ur rp blog w/ a memes barrage, people usually want to get to know your blog a little bit more before they send you a prompt). 

you can also wait for other people to post starter calls and then you like them (but check their rules first !!! for example, most people have a rule about being mutuals only, which means they will write you something only if youre following each other back), which also works. 

AND THATS HOW IT GOES !!! you are now writing on an rp blog. remember to take it easy and do what feels natural !!! browse some other rp blogs to get Inspired (but dont just lift things, stealing is a big no-no in the community). do what you feel comfortable with, if you dont want to make icons then dont! you’ll always find somebody who’ll write with you without icons (we just rly like them lol). be patient with others and yourself, read peoples rules, be nice, dont reblog an rp meme without sending a prompt to the person youre reblogging from (thats called reblog karma, if you dont wanna send a prompt then rb from the source), put yourself out there and UHH have fun !

I have three weeks to learn everything for my last exams. Am I dying already? Well, no, but actually, yes. I kinda wish we had less time because this way, I’m going to waste so much of it procrastinating.

But maybe now that I’ve told you, I’ll decide to not procrastinate so that you can be proud of me or something. Maybe I’ll show that I am in fact capable of character development. Idk.

By the way, anyone else feels dead inside after watching the new Game of Thrones episode? You know, in the first part, I literally forgot what I was watching because everyone was so happy and celebrating and all that and then I got a reminder. This show is going to be the death of me.

Yes, social media are basically time-eaters who steal the time which could be spend on writing or simming. Recently I've unsubscribed from several Instagram pages dedicated to memes as they my flooded dash and I spent too much time on them. Last two days I've played TS3 world adventures on my laptop without internet connection and it was great

Ooh boy, if I was able to get rid of all the memes pages I follow, I’d have so much free time on my hands. But also, I mean...memes.

As for social media, I wish I could deactivate my Facebook account. I really wish. But sadly, all the people I know irl are there. I have to stay there to keep in touch with them. We still share a lot of school stuff there, I’d be lost without it. But those are the only reasons I’m there, I never post on it anymore. I actually deleted most of my photos and old status updates and unfollowed most pages.

I’m going to repeat myself here but I’m so glad I got rid of Twitter. I loved it there, but at the same time, it fueled my negativity. Even when I found and muted or straight up unfollowed the biggest sources of it, I wasn’t happy. So I just stepped into the daylight and let it go and it was the best decision I could make. Even though now tumblr will probably have to deal with my random thoughts. I need to find a special tag for that. Not just “nonsims” or “saviorhide”. Maybe “simmeronnie is losing it again”.

Ahh, no way! I hope you’re having fun even though it’s a total mess :D I have to agree though, I love Rachel, she’s awesome.

Watch out, tiny gen 4 rant coming. When I have nothing else to do and I feel inspired, I rewrite gen 4 because I love these characters and they deserve a way better story. I consider the stories they got in the legacy the first drafts/starting point/base or something like that. So in some way, most of this stays in the “new canon”, it’s just thought through better or changed a little bit.

Okay, that wasn’t really a rant but seriously, stop me whenever I seem like I’m about to start rambling about gen 4.

Don't let them get to you. Something I have learned as I've grown older: Hobbies come and go. One minute you'll find enjoyment in something and the next it doesn't hold the same appeal. Some times you'll come back to that hobby and some times you never pick it up again. Taking a break is something everyone needs. They even tell new parents to take a little "me time" so that they don't get overwhelmed. Taking a moment to collect yourself is understandable.

Taking breaks from tumblr is good for your sanity. I had to last month for the sake of my mental health I got stressed out falling behind here and dealing with job stuff. Just like for you with school, job takes priority over my blog. I’ve taken so many breaks, honestly it’s fun to enjoy other hobbies and do other things.

Anon is strange - as if tumblr was the only life you've got and you have to stay here whenever you like it or not. Why read between the lines and find unexisting stuff there like you don't care about your followers? It comes without saying that a person needs breaks from the tumblr every now and then

But who knows probably the anon wanted only to provoke you to start our "favorite" drama. In this case they do need to find a life for themselves

Btw too - feeling lonely on tumblr also can be a reason for a hiatus, so anon makes no sense

So I kinda didn’t want to address this anymore because I feel like I’ve said everything in my lengthy answer to that ask but I just wanna say thank you for writing all of this. I didn’t feel bad when I got this, the anon didn’t change my opinion, I still believe everyone has the right to take a break, leave tumblr behind for a bit and not feel sorry about it. Take that me time and come back better than ever (or not if you don’t feel like, that’s fine too)! I was still worried about posting this answer though. So thank you for letting me know I’m not the only one who feels this way!

That sounds like a really fun way to spend your last day! At my school at least we had a Senior day where there were a bunch of games and activities. Good luck on your exams, and I hope you enjoy your last day and everything that is to come!

It was very fun and everyone looked so good in their costumes! One of my classmates wore this 20s-like dress and oooh boy. She was gorgeous. Just...leaving on that day was really bittersweet. Part of me was like “yas, we’re done with this place!” but the other part of me already missed it. And yeah, our teacher didn’t forget to remind us that all of us might never meet again. There are reunions, it’s a tradition, but there’s always someone who can’t come.

Okay, moving on or else I’ll start crying, and I’ve already cried a lot today. Looking at you, GoT episode 4.

Alright guys, I have an idea. Shoot me a message and we can talk about it! I’m down for this. Here’s just a brief description of everyone I can offer (in case someone else would like a sim and would like to know what they’re signing up for), we can talk more in depth in the messages later. I have one mean pink girl who loves robots, then this one that I’ve shown (she doesn’t have too much personality yet, but she hates her other sister and loves videogames), an agender person with pink skin, white hair and white eyes (loves animals and is the total opposite of their mean twinsister - and yet they’re still best friends somehow) and one pink boy with white eyes who just aged up into a child so I have no idea what he’s going to be like yet. I just remember he got the No Sense of Humor trait.

Can I have a wish though? If I send you one of these sims, would you please share with me the sim they end up with? I would love for them to get together in my game as well.

Side note, can you already tell my bpr is going to be a bigger mess than all my other legacies combined?

coming down is my all-time favorite. it’s actually more lily-centric, but it’s still got wolfstar, and it’s got jily, and mental illness, and suffering, and redemption, and just everything i love balled up into one convenient fic, and i just. love it so much

a cure for nightmares is always gonna make this list. an oldie but a goodie

blends is a current favorite. it’s The Mother of all slow-burn fics, and when you finally get to the get-together part, you feel like you’re orgasming right along with them. the author is working on a companion piece, and every day it’s not posted i lose 69 minutes off my life

(text talk and shoebox are on here too, ofc, but if you haven’t read those, then idk where you’ve been all your life. if you somehow have missed them get on that, if only because these are like, The fandom classics)

au; non-magic (fair warning, i read these almost exclusively, so this list is going to be the longest):

time is a fine invention is the one i’m currently rereading. it has been criticized for having a remus who is too…ig, severe, for want of a better word, but i personally feel like i could have ghostwrote him, he’s so perfect. no author has captured my sarcastic, piece of shit son better, and for that alone, i love this fic

long live living (if living can be called this) is one that makes the fic rec rounds a lot, but in case you’ve missed it, it’s a fun one

hard to find is one that i rad a long time ago, and then forgot about, and then tried to find again, but couldn’t. finally, someone on here found it for me, and i lol’d a lot when i realized the title was “hard to find.” the dialogue is written incorrectly, which is my number one writing pet-peeve, and i’ve still read it twice, so you know it’s good

texas never whispers is a weird one. it takes place in the united states (hence, texas), which i’m always wary of, and the fic itself is kind of an acquired taste; one i happen to have. there’s a lot of drugs and angst, which, you know, totally my jam, but not evreyone’s. read at your own discretion, but it’s not that long, so if you end up not liking it, no harm no foul, really

textually active is like, 90% memes, and kind of makes me want to rip my hair out as a result, but im always a slut for texting fics, soooooo (i actually just realized they posted the final chapter, i need to go read that)

another day in the sun was recc’d to me by the eternally lovely @braveremus like, three years ago. it’s very angsty :) :) :)

palo alto is one i haven’t actually read. i started it, got distracted, and then nevr finished it. but i love @nachodiablo (even if they made sirius vape, i distinctly remember that, friend why :/ ), and @iwontscreaminmyhead recc’d it to me the other day, so i’ve been thinking of giving it another shot, probably whenever i finish rereading “time is a fine invention,” so we can read it together, and i’ll give it a nice glowing review when i’m done

aus; magic:

all i got for this are the maddest house and stealing harry, which are both raising harry aus, and are also pretty well-known, so sorry if you’ve already read them

canon; marauder’s era:

so you want to transfigure yourself a rock band is a delightful and fun read that’s a nice palate cleanser between the angst

gah! just under the wire is some classic marauder’s era get-together pr0n (i just channeled 2008 to write that)

our blood, still young is one i know i’ve read, possibly twice, but it’s been so long i forget a lot of the details. it’s in my bookmarks, tho, and i don’t bookmark willy-nilly, so it must be decent. (i have a distinct memory of naked lake swimming, but i may be crossing my fics?)

a lie gets halfway around the school before the truth has a chance to get its pants on by fallout boy (is that how that joke works? i wasn’t an emo kid, i just know memes.) this is another one that i read a long time ago and don’t remember very well. i seem to recall it being funny? read it and remind me

canon; other:

yeah, i got nothin’. i used to have some siriusly heart-wrenching first-wizarding war and post-azkaban fics, but they got lost when i accidentally deleted my bookmarks like, two years ago (rip). i haven’t had the courage to go back and search for them again, bc, between you and me, as much as i love angst, canon wolfstar is actually almost too sad for me to handle, lmao
