UNDERTRACK INTRUDUCTION

under track is an au made by me and my friend @fivebecomesnone !! And our honorary creator @youregonnahavetime

Undertrack is an AU that features the survivors of a destroyed Universe.

As their universe was collapsing they created the train as a last resort to survive, once gathered onto the train they found out that instead of just going to a different universe and restarting life it was better to stay moving because they didn’t really wanna settle down. Currently they’re always travelling between universes transporting whoever has a ticket! (There’s a whole system for this, you can see examples from five’s post.)

As someone who wants to join the fandom more but it’s too scared to do so, I’m wondering how did you cultivated this community…? It’s so sweet to watch the way you talk to others and helping their works and such. How did you meet like…??? people ??? Like I always see you tagging the artists (ngl I found your blog because of Gomz) and I’d really want to learn, I’ve tried joining previous fandoms and it was always too competitive in some sense, like everyone was busy pushing their works for likes and retweets (maybe it’s more of a twitter thing)

Oh yeah. That's a Twitter thing. Twitter is a cesspit and I only go there for porn. The whole thing is set up to make people feel shite because people that feel shite scroll for longer/look at more adverts. Lock your account, bud. You'll feel a lot better.

But everywhere else? Gratitude and humility. Also, understanding what I wanted from fandom; a small community that hypes each other and encourages new people. Those are my bros (non-gendered). My Cakeshop Bros I found five years ago in fandom; they have slept in my spare bedroom, I've gone drinking, played boardgames, and we laid on the floor in London in a space art installation near Soho being weirdos drunk off our heads. Not just fandom friends now, friends for life.

When I first started posting for CoD, I was dead nervous as I'd been stung in a previous fandom. People took a chance on me as a new person; they reblogged my work with the sweetest tags. They hyped me. They took the time out of their day for a stranger, and they didn't have to. They coulda just read it and moved on. So, I said thank you in their inbox, or in their DMs. We started talking more, I was a bit weird and they vibed back. They are also good people. Genuinely. You mentioned Gomz; literally, so kind, so sweet. Deserves the world.

When I can, I make sure I hype them back; I wish I could do more but my job is absolute pig in terms of time. It's mock season (now over, woohoo) so I have a backlog of fics to catch up on - Nekro, Mikey, T, Oliv, Nikkie, Hexx, Gomz (who I deffo know have written), but there are probably more! I'll set a few hours aside over half term with a beer and crack on.

Also, I guarantee everyone is as nervous as you are. Everyone gets imposter syndrome. And also, everyone gets jealous. Jealousy is a natural human emotion that you need to process into something productive. "I'm jealous" = "this person is really fucking good, has worked hard, I'm gonna encourage them and learn from them because they clearly know their shit". Reframing rather than ignoring or letting it fester. They're just people after all and probably shitting themselves as much as I was.

I also guarantee you I am not everyone's cup of tea. And that's ok. Letting go of the burning desire to be liked by all, sometimes at the expense of my own bloody happiness and seeing it as a personal failing if I wasn't, was probably one of the most powerful things I did for myself over the last five years. The only thing I care about in regards to others is if I acted with integrity and kindness (not necessarily niceness). That's all I can control.

Sorry, mate. That came off as a bit of a rant! But uh, don't be scared. Keep reaching out. Be feral.

Welcome to Ghostly Trades!

A Danny Phantom OC art/lit trade with a twist!

This is a collaborative event where fans of Danny Phantom with ocs catered to the show come together to celebrate creativity, connection, and a little bit of secrecy. Here's how it works:

Sign-ups are open via DM until May 31st (afterwards, I'm not accepting any new people signing up).

Once you join (after the 31st), you'll be paired with two people: One whose identity you’ll know in which you’ll create art or a story featuring their Danny Phantom OC. One who’s a mystery in which they’ll create something based on your OC, but you won’t know who they are until they post what they've came up with!

The people you'll be paired up will be at complete random, via a name picker wheel. Once you're paired up with somebody, you can swing into their ask box (anonymously) and ask whatever questions you have about their oc that you can use to make the peice.

There isn't really a deadline to finish peices, but I would say try to get them finished by the end of June.

Once you finish the piece and post it, make sure to tag the creator of the oc (that's when you reveal you were paired up with them) and tag this blog so I can swoop in and reblog your creation.

this is emmett. emmettnet, emmettverse, emmettland, emmettundead, emmettlab. whichever blog you knew me from.

i am a whump creator. i've been in the whump community for a few years now. and now, i am unable to share my work with the community on here because people are mass reporting me for being a proshipper, and Tumblr keeps deleting my blogs as a result.

(if that isn't the reason why, i would be more than happy to get the explanation from @staff that i've been asking for.)

now, that is speculation on my part based on the timing of each termination (it's after i put my pinned post in the whump tags).

but here are the facts:

months ago, i became comfortable enough to share proshipping content. seeing as how every other artist would link their nsfw work on here, i thought it was acceptable for me to do the same so long as the preview image did not violate any rules.

an anon asked if i was a proshipper, and i said i didn't ascribe to that label*, but i agreed with the philosophy.

*i don't have any choice BUT to use it now because my posts get removed for describing what the content is

note that this anon asked multiple people in the whump community if they were proshippers. it was the same person each time, same copy-and-pasted responses.

i kept posting my proshipping content, all with links and extensive content warnings.

i started getting anon hate.

my account was terminated. after further reflection and rereading the terms of service AGAIN, i figured maybe links are not allowed and so i switched to DM only.

this time, the anon hate was consistent. every week was something new. every day felt like bracing myself to open my inbox. i kept anon on, since i have so many people who feel uncomfortable sending asks off anon and didn't want to take away their safe space.

months pass. i go on hiatus for all of July. i find out someone stole my old nsfw art and reposted their edited versions of it to rule34, a site that i never wanted my work to be on. this person waited until the exact starting day of my hiatus to do this.

i come back to more anon hate in my inbox.

suddenly, out of nowhere, my account is terminated again.

i make a new blog. more anon hate. another termination.

lather, rinse, repeat.

i stopped doing DM only stuff. i figured, if i just link my other platforms and only post safe things on Tumblr, there's nothing in the rules against that. everyone has links to their social media.

i still get terminated. and again, i keep getting terminated after i post my pinned post in the whump tags. which -- speculation again -- leads me and others to think that these antis are stalking the whump tags, waiting for me to show up so they can mass report me and get me terminated.

i have NO idea what they would report, aside from claiming i'm trying to "dodge being blocked". which, i'm not. in fact, i say every single time i come back that i WANT people to block me if they need to.

but regardless, it keeps happening.

i'm losing a place i considered home.

i'm being forced out of a community on here i love so dearly.

and you want to know something funny? for some strange reason, i'm unable to block my anons. yup. an 'error' message comes up. and i'm apparently unable to report them too -- like reporting the one who called me a 'tumblr tranny' and said i would 'always be a woman' for hate speech. oops, sorry. error message.

by now, i've been called evil. told to listen to my intrusive thoughts. told that i should be on a watch list. told that it's disgusting that someone's mutuals still interact with me. told that i have no place in the whump community.

i know that's not true.

i'm so sick and tired of being treated like this. i'm tired of being dehumanized. and i'm disgusted with this behavior.

at this point, i'm just screaming as many times as i can. i'll keep losing blogs, because i know my attackers will read this and just keep on reporting me. what do they have to lose? nothing. they don't have enough of a conscience to care. and why should they? clearly, i'm a monster. i'm a piece of shit. i don't deserve basic respect, and i apparently don't deserve to keep my 'platform'. to stay in my community and to keep my livelihood.

As someone who has been bullied all of my schooltime because I was too awkward, too fat, because my dad left us, because of how my hair looked, because I was wearing the same pants for two days in a row, because I had respect for my teachers, because i never had a boyfriend, because i didn't drink....

I am so glad the internet wasn't around back then.

If shit like what is happening currently in this fandom would have been happened to me twenty years ago?

I don't want to imagine what I would have done to make it stop.

Bullies have always been the same.

Mirroring their insecurites on someone who thinks won't fight back (or in this day and age can't because you can't censor the internet and reporting will only get you so far)

If you are one of the people "confessing" on that certain blog

You are nothing more than a bully.

If you have a problem with someone and don't want to use the block button for whatever reason, you get into the inbox of the person you feel is "mistreating you" and ask them why. You don't go around sending hateful messages hiding behind the anonymity this website provides under the impression that it's "confessing".

If you genuinely feel offended that not everyone (of the so called big blogs) talks to you, that you're not instantly are getting the notes on the fics you post, that you don't have enough followers, that you dont feel welcome in a fandom....

Things like this can take years.

And it takes work. It takes constant writing. It takes constant making gifs. Constant making art.

And yeah sometimes people chose to not reblog other fics/content? So what? Big deal. No one has to!

Like it is some kind of obligation once you hit your made up big blog follower number to reblog every single content from anyone. wtf?

Of course things mutuals post get reblogged more often, because they are on our dashboards.

Personally I used to find new writers/fics by going into the Pedro tag. The tag that is now swamped with hatefull "confessions" so I just don't go looking anymore. You think this will get you the exposure you want to?

Maybe it will, but not in the way you have been dreaming of.

And you bet your ass we are gonna reblog our shit as often as we want to. . And if I want to reblog my own fic twenty times because i am proud of it? Not your problem. The unfollow and block button is there for a reason. USE IT.

HI hello!! I was not expecting to see you in my inbox person that is way cooler than me JHI

I already wrote this once I'm gonna do it again. just Better and more concise.

Iiiiii think they're tragic, they're the song call them brothers by Regina Spektor to me. The thing about my interpretation is that my Nightmare is very different from yours I think. I also like to throw canon out of the window whenever I please.

SO, to start at the beginning, to me they were very very close as little kids, they only had each other y'know? the apple incident only happened when they were like 12/13 right at that age where you start to question everything and reject what you know. By then there's a lot more friction between the twins, they still love and care for each other yes, but arguments are more frequent, tempers are shorter. They always come back to each other though. They're each other's best friend, biggest annoyance and only comfort. It's the perfect time the tear them apart, they're in a vulnerable state where even their duty is something they question: is staying to guard a tree all they're gonna do with their life? (Nightmare thinks yes, Dream thinks no). The villagers know this, and that's the precursor to the apple incident. Weaker, more unsure and divided twins means Nightmare's the only one at the tree when they come to take it down (I do also think aging them up makes Nm's actions make more sense? Idk) So. Nm's gooped up, Dream's in stone, talk about changes in your body when you reach that age eh.

I think Nightmare for his first years out into the multiverse was very angry. He was alone (as he feels he's always been) and the negativity coupled with the immense trauma, he's really not doing well. he's stewing in all of this hate and his guilt is eating him alive. He hates himself and he doesn't want to think about it. His plan is to shove everything down: He's always been alone anyway. The incident was his brother's fault. his brother was never there for him. He comes to these conclusions and he accepts them as truth. He eventually chills out, he detaches himself. He starts to think he's better than all of that, that he's above it. He's only keeping those ideas more as subconscious truths than mantras to live by. Then he recruits Killer? (and this is where I uh. I don't know Killer's lore. and also I like... when Nightmare's nice. also by now Nightmare has his english teacher meets Silco swag) and it's alright.

Until! Dream gets unstuck, the first meeting with Dream after the whole incident things go ballistic inside his brain. all those truths he's made for himself are making him want to put all the fault on Dream and see him as an enemy (as well as his own denial, guilt and self hatred.) But at the same time that's his brother. His mirror. His blood. His childhood. He knows inside he can't hate Dream. He can say he does, but it's all lies and denial. So he's just torn.

Dream on his end, is completely lost in the multiverse, he's like a bleeding wound where Nightmare's a scabbed over one. Seeing what his brother has become is devastating to him.

I don't really have the whole in between planned, but Nm gets all his tcheam and he acts like their boss, he does care about their safety and wellbeing he just feels like he shouldn't get close. (I like to think he rescued them from their aus like he wished somebody had done with him (Dust and Horror would have stayed in theirs but it's more of a case of 'fuck it why not' than anything, especially for Dust)) he keeps a lot from them, about his brother and how he truly feels. Killer knows a lot though, cause he's like that. And I think Dream get introduced to Ink and all that good stuff.

You can go ask anything to the Miis! Here are certain points before you do send them in:

THE BLOG’S RATING IS UNIVERSAL/PG! Meaning no NSFW, no heavy gore, no swearing, no excessive violence. Things that can be more surface level like alcohol and mentions of horror/mature stuff are allowed as long as we don’t go into more mature territory. We can’t however control if people look things up, this is the Internet after all.

ABSOLUTELY NO HATE ALLOWED! We all have our preferences in the Miis and our dislikes, but if your entire personality revolves around hating specific Miis, don’t go send an ask about this! It’s stupid to hate a bunch of tris in a game that don’t really affect your life, and the Miis don’t deserve the hate. Give the Miis love, even the underrated ones! They love being showered in compliments and praise :3 (Also general rule of not being hateful to any race, gender, sexuality, religion, nationality, disability, ect. Let’s be respectful to each other as well)

IF POSSIBLE AND APPLICABLE, DO SOME RESEARCH BEFOREHAND! I personally don’t have motivation to answer asks that are misinformed or have gotten a good question if they didn’t miss a crucial plot point. The Wii Sports Wiki, despite being not very reputable, has always been based on facts and details that are canon in the actual games if you find the pages on the Miis and the game modes (I find that the My Miis Wiki is more fanmade hcs that state to be facts, so please proceed with caution there). These asks are, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, annoying and basically you’ll only get the Miis calling you a dingus for missing crucial info.

AVOID ASKING DRAWING "REQUESTS"! Sometimes, we receive things to draw that will only appeal to the asker but not to us artists. The Miis are people too, don't boss them around to follow your "commands", and if the request is way too weird for me to retranslate to drawing, I will ignore your ask completely. If it's to suggest costumes or clothing styles, then the Miis will do so if they wish to do so. Other asks saying "Try drawing this..." or "Draw that now..." will get immediately deleted.

YOU ARE TOTALLY ALLOWED TO GIFT THE MIIS WITH STUFF! You can give Miis objects, food, drinks, ect. Just be warned, like in Tomadachi Life and Miitopia, the Miis have preferences! They may or may not like what you give them~ >:)

Ask box response

This post is a follow up to the previous reblog post to update what's going between me and Cagney alongside other associates in the group that I have departed from a while back.

During the afternoon I just received a response from one of the group members yesterday which I will respectfully keep anonymous but I think only a handful of people will know who it is regardless of the edited screenshot when reading further on this post.

We'll be taking this interaction step by step to construct some criticisms, make statements and opinions of the overall message.

Here's the first half of the message sent to my inbox:

One thing to clarify is that I'm not being dense when I know that the group and you included, tend to nitpick at a lot of things. I was aware prior to what were the few reasons for being cut off before the announcement of my departure given the tension between the group conversations in the private community.

Now that's not to say that there wasn't a good point made for kicking me out!

Especially given the number 1 point made on your list.

1. I won't lie that giving away crucial details and conversations within screenshots was something I did totally out of left field. I knew that it was against the community's group protocol which I did get chewed out for showing the screenshots to Zombify.

But-

If I had not gone back and forth between two groups then I wouldn't have been given crucial details from Blurry's end about him doing a Cease and Desist order onto the Moboxcritique/TheGoldFiles Blog along with Kevonica being the primary suspect of quote on quote "Harassment" or "Defamation". Meaning that if Blurry had sent you a Cease and Desist letter, you'd be given a warning and restricted from posting on the blog that mentions him which would've led to possibly going to court/legal actions if you had gone any further with the drama to criticize him more. Then there's a possibility that the blog as a whole would've been taken down prior to its deactivation if Blurry did go to court with Kevonica and the blog given how much he'd get the judge and the jury to side with him regardless of what was put against him on the Moboxcritique blog's documents, posts or archives to justify your actions from calling him out.

So, yes I fucked up in leaking the group's conversation but at a cost of knowing about the Cease and Desist order ahead of time until a mutual agreement was made to keep the Blurry drama under the rug.

Then of course, I shared this post revealing a recorded conversation between Anonymous123maybe/Tammy Tuna and Miles to show that Miles never changed. This was another thing I got chewed out for publicly sharing but it was from Kevonica this time.

But did Anonymous123maybe/Tammy Tuna mind?

No

Plus, Miles only proved our suspicions correct.

2. I don't know why you need to rub it in that you and the group you're associated with have been victims of abuse when I've been through a mentally abusive relationship prior. It's not a competition or comparison to be made and I can understand that we can all take a stand in getting ourselves out of abuse and have it be known or unknown. Either way, if this is a complaint for being in defense for Piaojun's artwork of William x Renata in our chats together or on my "Parting Ways" post then I don't wanna hear it but even if it's not. Then it's likely about my other post discussing the themes of Mobox87's art work.

So, let me put it out there as simple as I can get. On my draft script post "Understanding", we talked about domestic abuse being an often taboo theme projected in Mobox87's stories and visual illustrations. The key important details mentioned are what likely inspired her and how it's become a progressive cycle that it feels romanticized but most importantly that it's a sensitive topic that can still work with storytelling.

We can all agree that Mobox87 always makes the abuser superior in a majority of her stories and I get that in this harsh reality that it is true the victims tend to lose or not survive from domestic abuse but when it's a constant visual being shown with each different story variation told. It gets bothersome to the viewer and you question the morality of the person behind the story. So, it's completely understandable to be critical about it. Now for the theme of that to work in a story, you wanna project it in a way where it can appeal to the audience. Such as the victim surviving or getting out of the situation. Other cases would be showing the victim getting some moral support through the trauma of abuse.

I know that I mentioned the episode "Mad Love" from the 1997 "The New Batman Adventures" series, a follow show to "Batman The Animated Series" from 1992. I go over how Harley Quinn's relationship with The Joker and how it projects the abusive relationship very well to the audience as a way to educate the consequences of what happens between the abuser and the victim or a toxic relationship. Heck we even see in the Harley Quinn show that she practically leaves Joker after realizing she was only being used. Another good example would be in the show Steven Universe on the episode "Alone at Sea". Where Lapis tells Jasper that she doesn't want to be a part of their unhealthy relationship anymore which if you're aware of them being fused together under the ocean for a long time from watching previous episodes you'll get why she doesn't wanna go back and that projected the importance of asserting boundaries and leaving when someone is abusive towards you.

Anyways, let me rewind things back to "Romanticized abuse with your strange takes upon things". I wanna make this clear I DON'T romanticize abuse and you know DAMN well that I don't when I've made it clear on a few occasions when you shit talk about Piaojun behind their back that they have no intentions of wanting to project the characters William and Renata the way Mobox87 has done. Even if they did have, it was illustrations projected to tell it's story purposes between the characters crucial fate of relationships departing. Like I get the idea you don't like the ship and the same can be said with a bunch of other people in or outside your group but don't ever drag your battles upon someone else who doesn't wanna associate with the drama. Let alone DON'T BITCH about what someone is doing between two characters who they clearly want to change from their original story for the better. You don't dictate what others can or cannot do in art especially if that person is doing their own thing. If you can't agree with that then FUCK OFF. I have my own morals and mutual understanding that are common sense. I'm not going to judge someone and make publicity about it unless necessary. You should know better. YOU DO NOT SPEAK FOR THE ARTIST'S VISIONS AND DECISIONS THEY MAKE! Yes you can be critical but there's a limit and you are pushing it to your own judgements that are opinionative. So, get over it. No one does that to your own work and if people have then your just projecting that negativity onto others.

3. So, I wanna mention that YES I did force Cagney to reblog my post because I simply wanted a favor and if you or anyone had read the post "Parting Ways" you'd understand how frustrating it was to get them to post it. Like honestly you of all people should know that I've been supporting Cagney and Patty when I got involved in this drama when you reached out.

I literally reblogged posts when it came to talking about Mobox87, Nicole, Mobox87's brother SonicCrash, The FON game's process of dealing with its supposed virus issues, Mobox87's sales prices, Mobox87's harassment and especially topics about Miles! I shared heavy amounts of criticisms and gave out my opinion on things that Cagney would publicly post about while they gained more attention for it! So when I asked for the favor to help me with the situation about Arion the Kid/Blue's Journey that I was gonna go over with Red Radiant and others who were victims. I expected some help but instead I got the short end of the stick because-

Cagney didn't want to reblog my post or take part in it when it's about someone who is known in this Mobox87 community on the app "Amino" for sexually harassment minors who has continue to do so to this day on Discord!

Cagney and likely you along with the other associates would rather talk about petty SHIT involving Mobox87's comic series development or about Blurry's artwork than take on something far bigger and serious to discuss! I practically needed to force Cagney to reblog my post because I literally begged for it which resulted in Red Radiant and Andikai needing to back me up for wanting the Arion situation to be known!

Why should I have to be in a position where I'm like Oliver Twist begging for more food when it comes to a favor after I stick my FUCKEN neck out for you guys on drama topics!

Honestly, a lot would've benefited if they helped out more and kept pushing on talking about Arion as much as I did. Things would've been easier but instead I had to go out of my way to spread awareness of him following people on Tumblr in the Mobox87's fanbase when doing my document timeline.

4. Okay... Now you're just poking the bear at this point and I wouldn't be surprised if you or someone in the group was the one who sent this anonymous message onto the second blog awhile back.

This topic about aging up a character is known to be a mixed opinion or controversial to some people. So, I'm just going to say this.

Like if an artist (like myself) made fanart of a character aged up preferably for a new narrative or head canon story and it's deemed not okay.

Then this isn't okay.

Now you're probably going to say this-

"Oh but it's not the same because the creator made them underage, you can't age them up cause it's not canon!"

My brother in Christ! You are delusional cause the creators themselves might as well catch a heat over aging their own characters. Quit complaining about fanon artists or illustrators for making their own ideas on a character as adults in their fanfiction for their changes in character development.

This is the official blog of the Studio Investigrave Dating Simulator (for which we're probably gonna come up with a shorter name sometime), a game made by SIG fans for SIG fans!

There are two people working on this project, mod Carrot and mod Cyanide - and between the two of us, it's me who's mostly making this post! (take all the credit ch ch ch) (You stfu I wrote like 90% of this thing you go and uh- idk finish Vincent now shoo) (fyk I already did so like days ago, so watch your tone young lad)

This game is our love letter to Studio Investigrave, and we hope to make this game enjoyable for any and every SIG fan that have ever dreamed of dating one of the characters - while trying to keep every character's personality as close to canon as possible.

In this blog we will post updates, ask for general opinions, and probably show some of the silly stuff we do while trying to figure our stuff out.

Hi :3, since I didn't really have any other opportunity to say hi.. I'm like a wingman for this project. I'll be writing the dialogues and interactions with the characters, mainly planning the outcomes and choices. And of course, trying to help Carrot with everything I can. I feel like she will be needing some help with the programming (dw, I trust in her skills, it's just gonna be a LOT), so Ima be petty and change my title to writer and programming assistant just in case

Which characters will you be able to date?

That's the good part - anyone! We plan on letting you date anyone from any released game's main cast!

Will you add the characters from games that release in the future?

That's the plan, yes!

(Although I still have to convince Cyanide somehow to let me add Jackpot Crash Course right after the first chapter, and not only after all 3 chapters have been released-) (We are nowhere near finishing even one game; we'll get there soon.)

Will I be able to play as a character from the games?

Sadly, the answer to that is no, you'll have to play as yourself. It would be way to complicated to make any character playable. You'll be able to choose your pronouns tho!

How far are you in the development/When will the game most likely release?

We are only in the early stages of development, only clearing up the concepts - the earliest it could release is probably late fall of 2025, but it's more likely for development to take around a year time.

What programs/platforms/engines will you be using?

For planning, we use a shared google document. For the game itself, I'll (we'll ;3) use Godot (4.3), for art we'll most likely use Krita! For writing, crazy I know, but I'm probably gonna use the same google document. (or maybe my notes or a random paper.. writing is crazy)

Do you have the permission of the owners of these characters?

Rachel herself has stated, I believe, several times, any fangames are fine, which means yes, we do!

Will the game be free/Where will it be published?

Of course, just like every official game, we will release this game and all of it's content completely free of charge! It'll also be on itch.io, just like the official ones, so it'll be more easily accessible.

What will the gameplay be like? Just a visual novel?

No! I will try to make it feel like a Studio Investgrave game as much as I'll be able to - and that will reflect on the gameplay too! I hope to take inspiration from different elements of currently released games for different parts of the game.

And I'm gonna try to make your choices matter as much as possible to create routes that heavily rely on the built-up personality you give your character by choosing from options.

Thank you HotD Fandom

I have been writing since I was around 11. All my works would stay in notebooks, on my word document, or printed out on paper and stashed away. I did post my first fic when I was around 13. Then sporadically through the years. The last time I posted any writing of mine was 10 years ago. But I’m trying to open up more with my writing, creative thoughts, by exposing my work little by little. And out of all the fandoms I’ve been in, it was the HotD fandom, the people I found, that made me feel comfortable enough to do so. Also, I’ve never been more proud or had more love for an OC I’ve created before Rhagerys. I’ve commissioned pieces of art of him, something I have never done with an OC before, and I am quite excited for that. 

So my thanks to all the HotD fans that I have had the pleasure of interacting with (following, being mutuals, reblogging their posts through someone I follow). I have had such a wonderful time and do hope to continue to do so.  I decided to write this because who knows what the future will bring. And I wanted people to know just how much they can make an impact.

Short Version: I seriously think that the romance between John and Martin is the weakest aspect of the show and the crew fumbled the ball on making them believable.

Long Version: I understand that Martin was madly in love with John from the start but, even after the ship became canon, I genuinely don't understand what they see in each other. Se1 Jon treated Martin like shit and even if it's supposed to be interpreted as typical Tsundere behavior, I still don't get why Martin fell in love with the workplace bully. And likewise, John's complaints and dislike for Martin's clinginess and shoddy work ethic were justified as John seemed like a married-to-one's-work type of guy, it makes complete sense for Martin to drive him up a wall.

The reveal from Elias (118) that Martin has some "precious image" of John inside his head made a lot of sense. I was like, 'Oh! So he's only in love with the idea of John, not the person he actually is!? That's crazy!' And I was honestly happier under the impression that his feelings were unrequited and he was just too obsessed to take the hint. That would've made his adventure into Lonely Avatarhood way more interesting. To know that the man you love isn't the him you want to be with and the real him never loved you back anyway...

On that point too, John's desperation to keep Martin from turning fully in Se4 felt more like a begging plea to keep the last of his original assistants alive than anything truly romantic.

But nonetheless, John and Martin have only interacted a handful of times before the end of Se4, and only two of them were positive (039 being the main one I can remember). The rest of the show's runtime is them hearing about the other through hearsay, progressing the plot, and arguing over John's increasing monster-status, with an added dash of John getting audibly uncomfortable whenever romance came up in conversation. That's not enough to build an eventual love confession and romantic relationship on. No matter how hard the fandom shippers carry it with their art and fics, they shouldn't have to do the heavy lifting in the writers' stead.

Don't get me wrong though! 186 and Epiphany (winner of the Magnus Fluff contest) were FANTASTIC, and if we had seen more of THAT before they got together, I'd have no complaints!

It just wasn't apparent enough that John ever reciprocated in canon.”

1) Sorry to anon, but the ask went HAYWIRE in my inbox and this was the only way I could get it out. My apologies! I haven’t changed anything!

2) Ok, ok… I have to speak my truth. I am also not the biggest fan of Jmart. I agree with anon- Jon is the kind of guy who likes to be and works best alone. Martin’s approach to Jon did seem quite obsessive and it just felt very… sudden that they should become a couple. I just never saw it, and when it did happen, it felt quite out of left field.

3) Now I want to play devil’s advocate to anon and myself because DISCUSSION! I love talking things out in a respectful and kind way, and that’s what we’re here to do!

-Alrighty so, if Jon is adverse to romance as anon says, why did Johnny and Alex decide to make Jmart cannon? Wouldn’t that go against all of Johnny’s hard work in building up believable characters?

-Secondly, doesn’t fan response make Jmart more believable? This to say- if fans picked it out so quickly, doesn’t that mean it was obvious from the start? (Or is this just how fan bases work? Michael and Gerry never met and yet we have DoorKeay!)

4) I wanted to reiterate something: Quite often my posts get circulated without the context of why I made this blog (and honestly I may start putting it at the bottom of every post I make from here on out.) I created this to be a safe space to share opinions without harsh feedback or rude response. You are very welcome to disagree with someone! In fact, I encourage this sort of back and forth! But if your words are not respectful and kind, then I cannot hear you out. We can disagree with each other and still be kind. If we cannot be kind to one another in such a small community as a fan base, then it becomes harder to hold on to hope of kindness outside of it.

I’ll step off my soap box now, and say that I’ve been meaning to say as much for a minute. It does not correlate as much to this ask/post as it does to some others that have received mixed responses. As expected, some people have taken my posts and responded in negative ways.

I can’t stop people from responding negatively. What I can do is make sure that, no matter who sees these, that they know where I stand as a Tumblr user, blog author, and person. I value kindness and respect above all else. If I ever veer from this, call me out.
