HAVE SOME ANGST

I listened to 'Washing Machine Heart' by Mitski whilst writing this and I highly reccomend listening to it too. The last part of the song and one shot work so well together.

Rex closed his eyes as he tried to drown out the constant sound of screams echoing in his head. It was too quiet in the barracks and the silence was eating at him, pushing him back into the moment of the recent battle.

He could see the green and blue flashes ingrained in his mind more than anything, the massacre that followed after their activation. The bodies that would drop because of them, the hearts that would stop because of them, the deaths that would be caused because of them. The deaths of his brothers too late to save, too late to save because he was wrong.

The door to the barracks wooshed open but Rex didn’t move, didn’t sit up. He was too engulfed in his memories to be bothered to, and too engulfed in his task of pushing back his tears. “Rex?” A voice called and the boy shrank back into the rock-hard mattress, praying it would swallow him whole and take him down into a dark abyss. “Vod?”

“Go away!” He choked out, pulling his knees to his chest and pulling the thin black sheet up to cover his face, a singular tear falling from the hazel abyss. Once one tear had fallen, it was hard to stop the oncoming downpour, but Rex was using all of his strength to push against it

“No, I’m here to help,” Cody replied, sitting down at the end of Rex’s bunk. Usually, Rex would’ve appreciated the comfort, but now, he just wanted to be alone.

“Go away!” Rex shouted back, turning over and burying his face in the mattress. Cody didn’t move, but he didn’t speak either.

He waited.

Cody reached out one finger and gently poked Rex’s side, rolling his eyes when his brother didn’t even flinch. He prodded him again, and again, and again. “I’m not gonna stop poking you until you give me some attention, Rex,” Cody told him and Rex sniffled, turning over to let his brother see his tear-stained face. “Oh, vod, it’s okay.” He whispered softly, brushing away the tears.

“No it’s not,” Rex croaked out, his voice harsh with tears as he stared at his brother through his blurry vision. “So many brothers died, because of me.”

“No,” Cody spat harshly and Rex recoiled at the change of tone. The Commander sighed and resumed massaging his brother’s scalp. “It was the General’s fault, not yours. He killed them, not you.” Rex shook his head.

“I don’t believe that.”

“And why not?”

“If I didn’t kill them, then why is their blood on my hands?” The blonde whispered. “Why are the deaths so ingrained in my memory with the feeling of guilt?”

“Because you were a witness, Rex, a victim.”

Rex stared at the ceiling with glossy eyes. “Is that why I wish it had been me?”

Cody barely heard what he said, and blinked furiously several times to try and comprehend the sentence. “You what?”

“I wish it had been me, Cody.” Rex admitted softly, not meeting his brother’s eyes as his voice fell into one note, completely monotone. “I wish it had been me on the floor, dead.”

Cody felt a drop of water slip over his bottom eyelid and down his cheek, rolling down his neck and sinking into the fabric of his blacks. “Please don’t say that.” He begged, voice shattered.

“Why not?”

“Because you're my brother, Rex!” Cody cried out as tears began falling rapidly from his eyes, creating rivers down his cheeks and leaving red marks behind. “Imagine how I would feel if you were dead!”

Rex could imagine it, and he immediately felt horrible. He sat up and raised his gaze to meet Cody’s - his heartbroken gaze. “I’m sorry.”

“Rex’ika,” Cody whispered, reaching out and wrapping an arm around his brother. “Just because you're the man with their blood on your hands does not mean you murdered them, it just means you were a victim too.”

just finished cmi11 IM FUCKING CRYING holy shit that was so good oh god

first of all the conversation between oc and her mom made me cry so hard- it hit home for me, as a girlie with mommy issues, that part felt so real to me. Oc's courage to stand up for herself like that and tell her how much she hurt her own daughter is something i dont have in me. It broke my fucking heart, that yearning feeling, i cant believe you put that specific feeling into words rid [are u part of the mommy issues community as well🧐 or are u just that amazing, a true fucking artist (i saw that anon calling you the beyonce of ff and i agree 100%)] idk how to describe my feelings rn, that part definitely left a mark in my heart, ill never forget it

second the domesticity in these two dorks oh my goddddd they're driving me crazy, theyre so cute and in love and im in love with them and i want to cry bc i want what they have but bc irl men suck the hopeless romantic in me is gonna have to live through fanfics for the rest of my life and that makes me fucking miserable but bless the fanfic gods like you that keep my soul alive, idk what id do without you

lastly that scareeeeee oh god like i knew itd be a negative but it had my heart beating out of my ass (idk if thats a phrase) but the way they handled it oh god, the emotionsssssss the fears and insecurities, just reminded me that theyre human, even if theyre the most fucking adorable characters ever, theyre still human and i loved seeing such nuance. You really are doing an amazing job rid, not only writing the story, scenes and dialogue, but also the way you write these characters in such depth, its so fucking refreshing to see.

i want to kiss your beatiful head that holds your beautiful brain, seriously ive never ever been so enchanted by a piece of writing before (and i read so much fanfiction its like an addiction) you are by far my strongest fix. Wasn't sure where to send this without it just being my closest friends, and I don't have any public social media so I'm going to put it here to just get it off my chest, feel free to delete this or not respond. But while following the whole Dream situation currently, the lengths some people have gone through to defend Dream and to weaponize traumatic experiences just to defend their favorite cc instead of accepting the most likely truth is so scary, and so so sickening. It's left me and some of my friends, all of us victims of grooming & CSA (including the dreaded r word), (albiet not Dream's victims, so I can't imagine how fucked up the victims themselves feel) shaking because of the whole precedent set of "believe all victims unless the abuser is someone we like/love and in that circumstance we'll pick apart everything and dissect your trauma infront of millions of people so we can call you a liar and an attention whore" ...

it's incredibly fucked up to see and while these people have chosen that stance of hyper-analysing solid proof for anything, even picking at the victim's reasonable emotional responses to such a situation, has left the "real victims of this genre of abuse" that they "defend" so violently terrified of speaking up, ever, even if it's not about Dream. I feel bad for the victims, if it was enough to make me and other victims who are removed from the situation scared and trembling, I can't imagine how bad it is for them. Not even mentioning how the legal justice system is so heavily skewered against SA victims that, even if it does go to court, the victims are more likely to be proven "wrong" and Dream will get off scot free.

Idk. Just wanted to get some brewing strong emotions out somewhere, feel free to delete or ignore this, I'd understand fully :) everyone please remember to do something unrelated to ccs that you love and find comforting, drink some water, eat some fruits and/or veggies, etc.

thats why right now our rhetoric (not yours i mean the fandoms) is so fucking important. because the hyperfocus and analyzing Amanda and judging her emotional response because she doesnt fit what they think a victim of dream's should look like is abhorrent and it does shit like this, which is so traumitizing and awful for ppl like you and anyone else who has experiences with abuse/grooming/etc. I dont speak much about my own experiences and they are not the same by any means, but even i have been a bit triggered by this rhetoric bc of some things ive experienced in similar topics (i dont want to vent esp after you shared you experience so ill be vague).

I havent seen it on my dash but i have seen it on twitter and stuff especially. Be so careful how you talk about people who come forward about grooming/abuse/etc. Be careful how you scrutinize victims. because it has real fucking impact.

and as this lovely anon said please find comfort today and take care of yourselves srsly. even log off for a week if you need to. my heart is going out to everyone, especially amanda and any other victims.
