Frantic shouts rise among the nomads. I snap out of it and direct the syringe toward his wrist. But his armor stops me from finding a vein.
“Open up!” I raise my head.
Half his face is melting.
I shriek, and so does he.

Okay I'm 5'7 too so thank you for your detailed description of the members and I'm not surprised but kinda am at the same time about their appearance??
Low-key love seeing all the live content but also feel left out as an Aussie atiny BUT I'm seeing skz in October so I'm excited for that!!
Speaking of their appearance, the members of skz are a lot more muscular in person than how they look.
I was expecting them to be skinny and boney but they all look incredibly strong and fit-even Han and Felix-
Han actually looks slightly more buff and muscly then Felix which surprised me and Lee Know is just as defined and muscular as Changbin which no one talks about.
Anyway- yunho brain rot.
I was listening to the audiobook of haunting Adeline because I finally caved in from the TikTok influence and my friend telling me how sexy the novel is.
Idk if it's because I'm going to therapy or I'm too old but I thought it was over-hyped-
I did love how the author described the themes of fear and stalking because when I did get tense when she'd leave the room, come back and there would be a 🌹 on the counter.
BUT I did get delulu and I was reading some scenes where zade is just consumed with Adeline and I was gasping 'like omg yunho could be like this' because his natal chart indicates if he was psychotic and unhealed enough- could delve into stalking territory.
And yes okay- this shit is toxic and scary and awful in real life BUT LET ME FANTASISE FOR A SECOND!
What if yunho was that borderline toxic boyfriend that just CANT leave you alone??
Watches you from afar, sends you messages all day-
Somnophilia thought here-
You don't live with yunho but have given him a key and go to bed with no panties on b/c it's a common occurrence he'll drive over in the middle of the night b/c it's been too long since he's felt you under him and he has to ravish you.
You wake up to his tongue on you clit as he moans and breathes your scent in which eventually leads to you making love with him as he virtually suffocates you with his body and words?
You're mine, you're not leaving me, I'm destined to be with you, on top of you, inside you, I can't breathe w/o you.
EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!!
MY FRIEND THE WAY YOU ALWAYS SERVE UP THE GREATEST IMAGERY OF ALL TIME TO RUIN ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
first of all........ love that you're seeing skz!!! i'm hoping if and when they announce tour dates for north america next year there's a chance for me to see them
as far as your yunho brainrot goes................. IM DIZZY. i love your natal chart content, and i've been so obsessed with the idea of yunho being like perfect boyfriend great guy................but................there's that part of him that just can't help being possessive and having this sense of ownership over his partner.
i was just actually reading a fic for another fandom along the lines of what you're describing and i was like YUNHO YUNHO YUNHO the whole time. i might write my own version but......... brainrot under the cut
so i think there's two yunho possibilities that i love within this like possessive/stalker/dubcon realm, and one is straight up like suuuuuper healthy relationship but they play with CNC in intense ways and do full on like roleplay OR my current favorite brainrot which aligns with your idea and the fic i was just reading which is like...... desperately obsessed desperately in love fully fixated on reader not leaving him because he just has to consume her fully at all times.
he and reader have been dating for a while and he's honestly the 10/10 perfect boyfriend (she thinks) only.... she knows he gets a little funny about certain things. when other guys talk to her he just has to have his hands on her, and when he worries about her he really worries, almost too much. he gets jealous about the funniest little things, and he's always nervous about change, he just doesn't want anything to burst their little bubble so much so that he's controlling the situation a little too much. but.... she also loves him, and he hasn't really stepped over the line of toxic.......... until she catches him stealing a pair of her panties and realizes his phone is full of pictures of her.
and it starts off like an argument, until he starts to confess his real fantasies. and he knows it might be too much, but she makes him so insane it's like he can't help himself. and the longer he talks about all of those fantasies, confessing how fucked he knows it is and how she really could do better, she just keeps getting more and more turned on. and it's shocking to her too, but she really fucking likes it. she's never had someone take care of her, really and truly take care of everything and just let her exist without having to make all the decisions or take control, and he's just offering it all to her on a platter she just has to let him take it.
and so while he thinks revealing his desires is about to break them up, and he's losing his fucking mind about it, she's ready to double down hard on the relationship and on what they do behind closed doors. so she shocks him when she not only agrees for more but asks for more.
and so that's when she gives him the key, that's when she tells him that he's allowed to come in whenever he wants. to touch her whenever he wants. she wants it all, but all she asks in exchange is that he stops hiding his desires from her, because that's what was driving the wedge between them. he's patient about using the new found control though, because he doesn't know what that will do for their relationship and she doesn't necessarily know what she's allowing him to do..... he can't smother her ALL at once.
but that changes when she falls asleep one night before texting him goodnight, she's been stressed and worn thin and he's not had the opportunity to see her let alone take care of her..... and he's feeling a little neglected too. and he waits a couple of hours for a response, but finally he decides it's time to use the key. so he drives over, slips in quietly, and finds her sound asleep, phone still clutched in her fingers and a video looping on repeat.
he's hard in a second, desperate in a second, and he has to do something about it. so he starts off slow, peeing off her clothes and gently teasing her nipples, getting a blush in her cheeks and making her perfectly hot and receptive to his tongue teasing her sweet clit.
she’s been so tired lately that she’s well and truly out, and she doesn’t really wake up until he’s teasing her wet cunt with his cock, not quite fucking her yet but everything in between. and when she wakes it’s mid-orgasm and desperate for more, and she's aware that something feels different but she just woke up and she's caught between realizing yunho is actually here and pushing himself inside her and thinking it might be a dream.
but he's whispering to her, clutching her close and begging her to just let him have this.... and of course she will, she agreed, but as she comes more and more into consciousness the feeling of him and his words start to make sense. he’s not wearing a condom for the first time ever, and that's not something they've ever agreed on going without before. she's just trying to figure out what is going on but he's fucking into her harder and deeper than before, with a whimpering need on his lips that makes her body curl up in pleasure and she knows she should stop him but truthfully she doesn't want to.
and while she clings to him, yunho's delirious. the feeling of having her completely, of knowing he's the only person who's ever been inside her fully with nothing between them, of knowing that the risk might be worth it. his mind starts to spin until he's a babbling mess, telling her he's going to leave a piece of himself behind for her, make them whole, make sure she can never ever leave.
and even though she knows it's a terrible idea, a decision only made in the middle of sex because it feels good, she finds herself clutching him closer, goading him on. no one has ever wanted her quite like he does and it makes her want to throw everything she's ever cared about right out the window if it means he'll look at her like this forever.
ANYWAYS now i have to write full lowkey toxic possessive yunho with a reader who is down to be fully consumed by him like AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Where did you get inspiration/information for most of the fae lore in Lord, What Fools These Mortals Be? I've been trying to find original sources, or at least the oldest ones, but most of the things I come across are from popular TV shows or novels ToT
Also, changelings! Were there any more in the Winter Court, aside from the ones claimed by Lady Death and Philza? Did they ever encounter Lady Death's not-children? Any hierarchial dynamics?
I believe inspiration was from a dream I had that was so funny I couldn’t stop laughing when I woke up. As for fae lore- I wrote the first chapter/most of the foundational stuff in the middle of the woods in a notebook. With nearly zero phone access and bad WiFi if then, Lords! is written with zero research. So most of the lore I’m using is just picked up from popular culture alas. I mixed in elements of dsmp fanon since Lady Death injects a lot of implications that can be run with in a far direction, and rolled with whatever answer was funniest/most horrifying for the given scene. Like a month or two later when I was back in society I did try to do some research on fae, cause in general I over research stuff I’m writing. And. Yeah. Information on fae folklore is absolutely scarce in a way that’s pretty sad to see. Kept getting wikis for YA series rip.
As for changelings, we don’t really see that Phil and Lady Death use them at least, since if they had used a changeling to replace Tommy then Technoblade and Wilbur wouldn’t have immediately gone after him. Potentially a day or two of delay as they figured that out. It feels like something they don’t bother with because they’re so powerful they don’t care if the family/community notices. It’s probably something weaker fae do to try and avoid consequences and angry humans.
This probably dips more into the lore of Lambs since changelings are a big part of that but, I figure most changelings within fae society are training to become replacements before getting shipped off never to return. So they likely have an envy/reproachful/studying approach to Technoblade and Wilbur, since those are the most displayed humans. If human they still are. Changelings are very unwanted by nature, and so they’re the dregs of fae society compared to the prized princes/pets. So MASSIVE gap there. At first Technoblade and Wilbur probably hate them for representing more children being taken just like Tommy. But over time they probably shift to more mainstream view of them as undesirable pawns. I bet Wilbur uses his position as ‘human’ to manipulate changeling’s, offering information on how to survive longer in the human world, or fueling their hunger or hatred on a case by case basis to get what he wants.

Lark Liveblogs Literature Part ???: All For The Game Series - Nora Sakavic
I'm doing something a little bit different with this one! In the business of full disclosure, I read TFC (and about a chapter of TRK) in April this year, decided "I can't mcfucking do this" and then gave up. And then didn't stop thinking about Neil Josten for the next eight months and now we're BACK. So, instead of properly 'liveblogging,' unlike most first-reads I do, I'm actually annotating this one because it's too good to NOT.
That means I have a customized (so totally legal mhm) word doc, highlight/unline privileges, and audacity.
Here's what I knew before I read back in April (stolen from my beta version of this post);
Andrew Minyard: Gay(?), funniest bitch alive if Tumblr brackets are to be trusted. Murderer? Has Boyfriend???
Sports. Maybe. Yes? sports.
Drugs are involved. Somehow.
Now, here's where I am going in now;
Ranking the Foxes goes; Neil, Aaron, Dan, Kevin, Andrew, Renee, Matt, Nicky
I have no idea how exy works, I do don't plan on figuring it out.
Do not remember if I read TRK but what I remember happening is far too much to be just the 230 page doc that is TFC so I MUST HAVE right?
Do know his real name's Nathaniel because I did read that scene reveal and get JUMPSCARED by my brother's name.
How this is going to work is that I'm going to put in my annotations for each chapter. Enjoy!
Chapter 1:
"You can't be serious." "Very serious, and very out of time,"
"were a team of talented rejects and junkies because Wymack only recruited athletes from broken homes...nice in theory, but it meant his players were fractured isolationists who couldn't get along long enough to get through a game."
"God damn it, Minyard. This is why we can't have nice things."[1] "Oh, Coach," someone said over Neil's head. "If he was nice, he wouldn't be any use to us, would he?" "He's no use to us if you break him." "You'd rather I let him go? Put a band-aid on him and he'll be good as new."[2]
[1] This is why we can’t have nice things, darling. Because you break them. I have to take them away
[2] Andrew I’ll kiss you
"blond and five feet even"[1]
blond? wrong. five foot even? correct.
"They were champions, and Neil was a jumble of lies and dead-ends."[1]
[1] Neil your self-loathing is showing
"It's not a good idea." "Your opinion has been duly noted and dismissed,"
"It was proof he existed, same as this game they both played. Kevin was proof Neil was real."
"It's about second chances, Neil. Second, third, fourth, whatever, as long as you get at least one more than what anyone else wanted to give you." Neil had heard Wymack referred to as an idealistic idiot by more than one person, but it was hard to listen to him and not believe that he was sincere
"It sounded like a dream; it tasted like damnation"
notes:
nothing much to say on chapter one--- it's a standard introductory chapter to a contemporary(ish) novel.
Wymack sets up the series' key theme with his line, "It's about second chances, Neil. Second, third, fourth, whatever, as long as you get at least one more than what anyone else wanted to give you."
Kevin's demeanor in this chapter is very similar to the Kevin we see up until Raven's come into play--- He's very good at acting very standoffish and tough.
The shift in Kevin when Riko comes into play was actually so dramatic I didn't recognize him here, I was afeared
some of the quotes I've added here are obviously because I thought they were funny exchanges--- others are me English Majoring(tm), and others are just me marking plot, characterization, facts, etc.
admittedly what i've put here is about half of what is actually highlighted/underlined in my doc.
I want to study the dynamic between Neil & Wymack under a microscpe

wait, I misunderstood the assignment. BOOTHILL AND TIGHNARI FOR THE ASK GAME!
BLORBO SQUARED HOLY SHIT!!!!! sorry if this turns out to be like a novel i'm so normal about these two specifically i promise
my first impression
tighnari: i thought he was so cute and funny but also so goddamn pale. i remember getting really into his dialogue because unlike other genshin characters he actually had a backbone
boothill: it was love at first sight tbh. i was immediately like "COWBOY??? FREAKY COWBOY THAT HATES THE IPC??" because i'm gay and southern, and as we got to know more and more i got So Much Worse.
my impression now
tighnari: FUCKKKKK. he's my second favorite genshin character. i love how kind and caring he is and i love how he chooses to be that kind. i love how much he devotes himself to his work. i love his "do no harm, take no shit" mentality. i even learned to love his fuckass bob in time.
boothill: he got me back into honkai star rail after nearly a year of not interacting with it. i'm obsessed with him. he feels like an oc because of how tailor made he is for me. he's sooooo fucked up and soooooo goddamn tragic and i love how weirdly respectful hoyoverse was with coding him as indigenous. i just. fuck there's so much i love about both of them but i'm already yapping enough so.
favorite thing about that character
tighnari: i love how fucking mean he is at times! like i said his backbone and standing up for others was a big appealing factor for me.
boothill: HE'S SO SILLY........ LIKE DESPITE EVERYTHING HE'S KEPT HIS WHIMSY AND SENSE OF HUMOR.......... also his synesthesia beacon malfunctioning is the funniest shit ever as a southerner who swears like a sailor.
least favorite thing
tighnari: like acheron, it's unfortunately his design. i get what they were trying to do but they just... didn't execute it that well imo.
boothill: his stupid emo bangs and the way that some of his dialogue is written irks me a little bit. it's very "trying to make it Really Clear that he has a southern accent" especially in his character stories, which doesn't even make sense to me because his accent isn't even that thick??
favorite line/scene
tighnari: "don't be afraid to make mistakes. it's all part of the learning process."
boothill: "in this life, you gotta believe in some things and doubt others. believe in folks' good intentions, the value of courage, and all that other hodgepodge. but never believe that these good things will just fall into your lap— you gotta make them happen."
favorite interaction that character has with another
tighnari: i don't think i have to answer this one for him, do i.
boothill: he hasn't interacted with many characters thus far, but i do really love his dynamic with argenti. can't pick out a specific scene right now though.
a character that I wish that character would interact with more
tighnari: DEHYA AND CANDACE..... THEY COULDV'E BEEN SO GOOD AS BESTIES BUT THEY BARELY DID ANYTHING WITH THEM
boothill: if we ever got canon gallahill interactions oh i would've been sooooo insufferable. be grateful it never happened.
another character from another fandom that reminds me of that character
i'm unsure for both of them lmao
a headcanon about that character
tighnari: have i spread the demisexual tighnari agenda enough lately? i don't think so. WOE ACESPEC NARI BE UPON YE
boothill: he has pica and was that kid on the playground that would eat grass and sand. now that he has a cyborg body, he can indulge these whims without harming himself.
a song that reminds of that character
tighnari: pink + white by frank ocean
boothill: baby said by måneskin
an unpopular opinion about that character
tighnari: neither of his english voices are good. please hop on chinese/korean tighnari.
boothill: jokes about boothill being a cowboy/southern became stale and tacky back in may. why do you think him not being perfectly literate is funny? answer quickly.
favorite picture
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2 apples tall nari + boothill being cuntyyyyyyy. honorable mentions go to the tighnari sitting emote and boothill's battle pass pfp

End of Year Writer Rec
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: I have never done a rec before but I feel like these writers who had made my 2022 with their wonderful fics deserve a shoutout! The list is in no particular order and I will also rec one fic from the writer from this year!
⭐ BrightGolden ao3: brightgolden @brightgolden
Reccing: Here's Your Perfect
In the world where mates are assigned to everyone and deposited to their door when an agreeable partner is found for them, Alpha Louis has recently been given his. However, he is nothing like the type of alpha that the omega academy prepares Harry for.
Your fics are my comfort and this one is no exception. I love how the way Lou's character evolved while H is his lovely self. Atticus is the perfect pup of course :)
⭐ Marchessa ao3: Marchessa @marchessa
Reccing: Now You're Lost, Lost In The Heat Of It All
The story of a great medieval Emperor and his consort.
Your Lou is fierce and your H fights to protect his countries. The way that they are falling in love is so sweet and I scream every time H touches Lou I swear. Their dynamic never fails to amuse me! Can't wait for the second installment.
⭐ bluegreenish ao3: bluegreenish @greenblueish
Reccing: Battle Of The Balls
The one where YouTubers Harry and Louis play Golf With Friends, go to the pub with Niall and return home six hours after posting the video.
I am the biggest sucker for banter and pure fluff and laughs. This one got me real good and I am glad that you wrote it based on your own fav Youtubers. This is really a nice and funny fic, too underrated :(
⭐ thebreadvan ao3: thebreadvan @thebreadvansstuff
Reccing: High heels on, 'm feeling alive
Harry damages a car when drunkenly stumbling home after a fun night out with his friends. Feeling horribly guilty, he tries to find the owner and make it up to him.
Drunk H is the funniest and the build up is so great! Of course the smut is so on point, love it a lot. The idea is so fresh and simple too, I think that's why it's a fav of mine :)
⭐ allwaswell16 ao3:  allwaswell16  @allwaswell16
Reccing: Ace of Spades
Louis is a pirate, Harry is his captive, and no one is who they say they are.
I remember reading it for the first time, thinking that I had an actual NOVEL in my hands... Later, after months, I read it again and again, there are so many things to unwrap in this fic. The details and characterization... I don't wanna spoil it to anyone but this one is worth a whole night reading. It is so wonderful! Pure talent goes into writing this and you have it!
⭐ wabadabadaba ao3: wabadabadaba @wabadabadaba
Reccing: Liquid Gold
Louis has a biting kink and the only person he thinks can fulfill it is his vampire friend, Harry.
This was HOT and funny tooooo, i love biting and marking concepts so I can definitely see how great this idea is and vampire H? Applause plz.
⭐ devilinmybrain ao3: devilinmybrain (venomedveins) @thedevilinmybrain
Reccing: i want to be just as close as the holy ghost is
Louis wants only three things in life - to pass his classes, to find a cure for hangovers after a night out with the lads, and to get church going, goodie two shoes omega Harry to go out with him.
This one is my fav so far although the Oli one is a close tie... Your omega H is so beautiful and that bondmark covering is very very cool and fresh idea. Love it.
⭐ localopa ao3: localopa @voulezloux
Reccing: i’m still standing (after all this time)
dubbed the modern elton john, harry is the biggest thing to come to pop music. topping the charts, there isn’t anyone who can dethrone him. until pop punk trio funeral for fire emerges on the scene.
The cute meet, the banter, damn Marcus, Funeral For Fire, there is a lot of angst I am not gonna lie, but of course, it is a fav and so good too!
⭐ fearsparks ao3:  fearsparks @onlythebravest
Reccing: dream about a summer night
Working alongside each other as camp counsellors, Harry and Louis grow closer than they’ve ever been before. That’s not a problem, but now they have these newfound feelings for each other to deal with.
This fic reminded me of my own summer camp experiences and it was nice to picture the settings and everything. Of course, friends to lovers and the pining got me real good... Love how it played out!
⭐ Neondiamond ao3: Neondiamond @neondiamond
Reccing: On Thin Ice
As the goaltender for one of the best hockey teams in the world, Harry never expected participating in his second winter Olympics would be so eventful. His hidden long-term relationship with the captain of their biggest rival team may have something to do with it.
This fic kinda schooled me on hockey stuff and the smut is well written. It is fun to see them trying to hide :)
⭐ ohpleaselarry ao3: ohpleaselarry @ohpleaselarry
Reccing: Night Song
Whatever happens to Louis’ heart, he doesn’t care. It’s up to Harry now. It belongs to him; completely. a Howl’s Moving Castle au
Putting some twists into the original plot line is so creative, I haven't read the book yet, but the movie is a classic of course. There can never be enough Ghibli fics!
⭐ ishiplouis ao3:  ishiplouis  @pocketsunshineharry
Reccing: I Like You, Say It Back
the one where it takes a lot of time for Harry and Louis to figure it out. But they do, they always do, don't they?
I finished this in one sitting and I love your H in this one! Lou is always so gentle with him and H's sassiness fits him so well, love it!!
⭐ alwaysxlarrie ao3: alwaysxlarrie @alwaysxlarrie
Reccing: i swear i could give you everything
Louis Tomlinson was not a morning person, so he really should have known better than to start leaving secret notes on coworker Harry Styles' desk before he arrived at the office at 7:30 each morning. But he did have to admit that hearing Harry's reaction everyday was definitely worth it. Not being a morning person might be his downfall in this situation, though. Talk about self sabotage.
This fic made me laugh a lot especially the notes and when Lou got caught! It is a delight to read!
⭐ tommokat ao3: tommokat @tommokat
Reccing: Orange You Juice The Cutest
there's only one carton of orange juice left and two men have to decide which one of them gets it.
Cute meet my forever love, this one is more like a funny meet and Ernie was so funny too, love the witty dialogues and the bantering :)
⭐ iminthisstanshit ao3:  iminthisstanshit @iminthisstanshit
Reccing: Four Souls Of The Seasons
the poetic fairytale in which they are the four souls of the seasons
Watching this fic growing and getting posted was a journey! I love how each of the boys are a season and they corresponded with their personalities. This is more poetry than fic I would say :)
⭐ huggieshalo (Candypie14) ao3: huggieshalo (Candypie14) @huggieshalo
Reccing: You Can Let it Go
An alternative story where Harry is Matilda, who never stayed with Miss Honey and had to leave with his awful family. After years of being closed off, someone shows him that his life doesn't have to stay the way it is…
Seeing H struggling in this was hard, but I am glad he finally faced his fears and confronted his family. This was a nice twist on the song and original movie of course!
Go show every fic and writer some love! Happy end of year everyone!

there is a cool new game on the block
so, I started playing this new indie RPG I found on itch.io, it's called Wayfarer! I'm not sure if it has a fandom yet or anything but it seems like the kind of game where the creators would have a Tumblr and I'd like them to know how much fun I'm having!
Basically, the game is a choose your own adventure that's slightly customized depending on the traits and appearance you choose for your character. For example, my character is half-musalid (a kind of merfolk), and a villain got called out for drowning the pc being a bad plan. Your choices affect how characters approach and talk to you! It's super fun! All reading, if you don't like such things, as it is a choose your own adventure novel. There are only two chapters out and I think I'm almost done with chapter one!
It's really fun and engaging and it makes me think of those YA novels I'd read in middle school and elementary about plucky tween protagonist getting into trouble and defing all odds. That's mostly because of how I'm playing it tho, I keep jumping straight into the craziness and getting myself into trouble in fun ways! It's also fun to imagine my character because I selected very tall so I am probably taller than Aren, my fellow protagonist. It makes some scenes more fun to me. I let him do stuff and loom in the background. It's great.
Anyways, the funniest part this far has been naming my character! I named her Ali Blue after the All Blue from One Peice, because she's part mermaid. Get it? Heh. Anyways, for the nickname section, I couldn't come up with one but wanted her to have a nickname, so I put pookie in. This does break the immersion sometimes but is also awesome. I put that name cuz me and my bestie have been calling each other pookie, so I imagine it said in absolute ernest. It makes it even funnier. Anyways here's a contemplation of Aren calling me pookie.

Okay you made me start reading villain initialization and 1. Cannot thank you enough it's sooo good 2. How could you? I'm at lime 90th chapter and I'm hooked. The drama, the fights but most of all a big villain screaming in his head when his aunt makes him raise his head while vacuuming.
The only thing that Ive a problem with (besides the changes in translation, but thanks to your post at least now I know they are often referring to the same person) is jumping too much. Sometimes I would like them to linger on some topics or scenes because they are so good, to just let them breath. But yeah, that's my preference, I had the same problem with ORV so it's mostly my preference
So once again thank you for the recommendation. I'm trying so hard not to binge it but it's just too good
*sound of a fishing line being tugged on* WE'VE GOT ANOTHER ONE!!!
i'm glad youre liking it so much so far!! i also wish some scenes had been given more time to breathe. i feel like villinit would've worked great if there wasnt pressure for artists to make releases on a specific schedule. i also think it would be AMAZING as A Novel (not a web novel, cause thatd have the same/similar schedule issues i think)
regardless though villinit is such a good manhua i love it sooo much its so sad and happy and funny one of the funniest running gags in villinit is Ling Chen insisting he's beiyuan's number one supervillain and how he isnt getting the fear and respect he serves and everyone just flat out ignoring his dramatic ass

REVIEWS OF THE WEEK!
EVERY WEEK I WILL POST VARIOUS REVIEWS I’VE WRITTEN SO FAR IN 2024. YOU CAN CHECK OUT MY GOODREADS FOR MORE UP-TO-DATE REVIEWS HERE.
___
147. Megumi & Tsugumi Vol. 4 by Mitsuru Si--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
LISTEN. I thought this manga was only four volumes long! Imagine my heartbreak when we are left with that damn cliffhanger and nothing else because volume five isn't even available to order in English.😭😭 This is why there was a slight delay between when I started this and when I finished it. I put the book down and stared at it with anger and sadness for a few days before finally picking it up to finish the side story.
I loved that in this one, everything seems to be coming together! There is more understanding between the MCs and their love is more clear to one another than ever before. Communication levels are high! But then THAT conclusion. Screw Megumi's father. Seriously, screw him.
Also, the side story was adorable as always. I love that couple!
___
148. Expiration Dates by Rebecca Serle--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
One of the things I will always enjoy in Rebecca Serle's books is the magical aspect weaved into the contemporary and otherwise women's lit genre. It's just the barest touch of what-ifism that makes one wonder if people out there in the real world are getting to experience this magical realism.
In EXPIRATION DATES we get an MC who carries more than just her magical secret, but whereas the ability to see how long your romantic relationship is going to last is in the synopsis, the other is a spoiler that I will let you experience blind. The expectations and pressure every time the MC gets a new relationship deadline was enough stress without knowing the other thing.
I knew immediately who the MC's true love interest was going to be, but I enjoyed the journey for what it was. Sure, this wasn't my favourite Serle novel, but it was still fun and full of depth. I like that EXPIRATION DATES begs the question of "what would you do if you knew the end-date of a relationship? Would you simply go along until it's over, or would you ignore it and try to make it last as long as possible?"
Relatively short, surprisingly insightful, and with a very unique approach to love, Serle's newest novel was a quick and heartfelt read. Despite the heavier undertones, I think this would make a great summer read to carry in that beach bag.

149. Run Away with me, Girl Vol. 1 by Battan--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
While the artwork made me a little wary, the synopsis fully pulled me in!
Reading the story from both perspectives was so sad, especially because it's so obvious that there are feelings there between the two MCs, but that societal expectations to have the husband and the kids is overriding the pure love.
While I first thought that the one character was cruel for the way she was treating the other MC, I later came to realize that it was her own form of escapism. I think this brings into focus the idea that we sometimes do need insight into both perspectives before coming to any conclusions.
Also, screw the fiancé. What a horrendous human being. He's a bully and I can't wait to see him fall on his ass.
This felt like such a nostalgic read, especially when the story starts with the life-changing line about growing up and being adults, instead of letting their love blossom beyond high school. I need more, especially after that ending!!!!
___
150. Punch Drunk Love Vol. 1 by Moscareto,Okdong(Illustrator)--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Listen, one of the funniest things we could have gotten with PUNCH DRUNK LOVE is the dual perspective. I LOVED watching these two characters playing off each other without knowing.
I was genuinely laughing through a good chunk of this manhwa, especially because of how ridiculous the characters were. Plus, the classic "take off the glasses" trope where the character is suddenly way more attractive without the glasses.
It was spicy, of course, but the story around those scenes and even during them was hilarious. I'm very much looking forward to reading more of this, especially to see how the manager falls for the MC.
___
151. You, With A View by Jessica Joyce--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I had heard great things about this book, so I went in wary. Expectations can sometimes be a silent killer. BUT. BUT. Joyce's YOU, WITH A VIEW was such a happy surprise (despite it being a heavier read exploring the process of dealing with grief and the bigger changes in life.)
From the very beginning, I loved the interactions between the MC and the love interest. That animosity that carried over from their teen years was GREAT. Especially because it's so obvious that it's not as reciprocated as the MC once believed. Also, the meddling, adorable grandfather? *Chef's Kiss*.
I love stories with road trips because we know we're going to get the "one bed trope" and the character growth that can only really happen in close proximity. Watching these two fall in love was perfect, especially as we also learn more about the MC's grandmother along the way.
And you know, despite the secrets living between these two characters, I DID love their communication when they had finally had it. It was honest and raw.
I also may have cried with this one because man, I never thought I'd be relating to the grieving a grandmother theme. Which I know sounds ridiculous, but I honestly thought my grandma would be around for a lot longer. And you think that you're fine, until that one moment where you're not because you're remembering again that they're not just in another country but they're actually gone. Grief is a wild process and Joyce does a beautiful job of it in this--especially because of just how important the MC's grandmother was to her. Joyce treated the topic with the gentleness and honesty that it deserves.
The love interest was also such a great character because he's dealing with his own version of grief. Life is ever-changing and it's not always for the best and these two characters show us this in their journey.
Definitely a new fan here. Will check out her next book!
___
152. Canto Contigo by Jonny Garza Villa--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
CANTO CONTIGO was such a beautiful ode to not just music, but also to family and the Spanish language. The amount of Spanish in this book made me so, so, so happy--especially because it wasn't translated right after it was used.
I admittedly know close to nothing about Mariachis, but I LOVED learning more about them in this book. I didn't know there were competitions in the US between schools. That was freaking cool.
The MC had such great character growth, especially when one considers that a lot of his flaws were stemming from the pressure and grief he was still trying to overcome. I think the biggest blessing for him was being moved to a different school, simply because of how open-minded the new environment was and how it forced the MC to face the less than great parts of himself.
The representation in this book is beautiful. Not only in how much queerness lives in these pages, but in the exploration of what it "truly" means to be Mexican. I read a really great essay collection about identity and how racism seeps into what it means to be a latine person. When the love interest's identity in CANTO CONTIGO is questioned because he's Black, it reminded me of that collection. I think this was an important addition to the story because those who ignorantly assume that being Latine means you fit one specific aesthetic will have an opportunity to be thoroughly corrected.
Also, phew, that enemies to more trope? Yes, please. The tension between them was incredible, but I also loved that the love interest inspired the MC to be a better version of himself. Their love was the perfect backdrop to this story, since it pushes forward so much positive change and self-love. And please, the Trans-rep! LOVED.
I highly recommend CANTO CONTIGO. You may cry, but hey, sometimes the best books make you want to cry. Also, it might make you want to create a playlist.
___
153. House of Dark Shadows by Robert Liparulo--⭐️⭐️⭐️
I have FINALLY read this book. I have had this on my shelves for over a decade.
While this wasn't what I was hoping it to be, I can definitely see the appeal. It's got some scary aspects and interesting moments, but it all kind of passed by in a blur and it took me a while to truly find my way in this story.
I am intrigued, however, to see where it goes. You know that past me collected the whole series. And if the rest books are like this one, I know I'm in for a wild time.
___
154. How to Say I Do by Tal Bauer--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
HOW TO SAY I DO was pure romantic magic. I don't even know how else to write this review.
The way my heart beat for these two characters. The romance, the heartbreak, the yearning, the realizations, the communication--please, this book is a pure gift and Tal Bauer is a romance god. HOW TO SAY I DO was so exquisitely beautiful that I felt my heart beating for these two long after the final page.
And the way Bauer writes the ending? Please, I could feel the waves of love and respect weaving through the words.
I wish this book was available as a physical book so I could proudly put it as a trophy on my shelves. I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of my favourite books of this year.
I want to ask Bauer who hurt him because the way he wrote the yearning in this book is so beautiful and I felt it deep in my bones. Ugh.
Okay, I need to stop. But this book. THIS BOOK. Pure magic.
___
Have you read any of these? What were your thoughts?

Happy reading!

I rant about season 1 of Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear
First of all, the pacing. Season one was trying very hard to reach the Kraken within 12 episodes. Because of this, they had to shave off a lot, losing the lazy pacing of the original Light Novel in the process. An example of this is how they covered the entirety of volume 1 in TWO EPISODES.
They also scrubbed out most of the darker elements of the story. While this made the show more family friendly, I think the show lost a lot of it's grounding because of it. It helps to know that the world Yuna now lives in kinda sucks, and the entire reason the story is light and fluffy is because Yuna is around to make it that way.
Opening the season on the black viper was a huge misstep. On paper it's a good idea as the black viper arc is a pretty good isolated introduction on who Yuna is and what her abilities are. However, it gave the audience the impression that this would be an action packed adventure story, and when people watched on to discover that it's mostly a slice-of-life, it made a good chunk of viewers walk away feeling bored out of their minds. Those same viewers especially hated Season 2 because it more accurately portrayed the lazy pacing of the LN.
And let's not get too far into the BAFFLING decision to make it look like her entire adventure in another world is a VR game she's playing through. There are still people in the audience that think Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear is a Sword Art Online situation well into season 2.
Despite them being in such a hurry, it still found time to bring in an anime original story about Fina and Shuri trying to get their parents to stop fighting. While it was cute and gave us insights on Tirumina and Gents' party that we don't even get to see much of in the original, I would have preferred if they instead adapted the story of Yuna helping the whole family move. The part in the LN where the whole family stays at Yuna's house for a night instead of just Fina and Shuri was Yuna's first taste of what it's like to have a family, and it PAINS me that that anime didn't decide to jump on the opportunity for feels there.
Since we're diving into very specific examples, Yuna saving Misa was reduced to a single shot of Yuna killing an orc. It very confusing for the audience as it made you get a vague sense something happened without showing it. It's a huge shame because the battle against the orcs was an awesome and particularly brutal moment in the LN and Manga, and I would have loved to have seen it it animated.
Speaking of things I would of wished were animated, just the entirety of Yuna saving Morin and Karin at their bakery. They reduced an action scene to exposition. In the LNs, it made more sense for them to humor the bear girl's job proposal as she just risked her life to save them from thugs. In the anime, they just blindly went along with it because, and I quote: "she has good taste in food." Seriously, if someone offered you money to move to another town, wouldn't you immediately think that's fishy? At least in the LN, they had a reason to think she was a good person.
Oh yeah, and the following scene with corrupt merchant. GOD, one of the funniest scenes in the series left on the cutting room floor. A crime, a crime happened there.
Speaking of humor, the anime decided to replace jokes and gags in the original LN with their own humor. They inserted an oddly timed "rabbit season" joke into the the goblin king arc for example.
The 10,000 monsters incident in the anime was kinda a joke in its own right. In the LN and the manga, we see Yuna taking a break partway through, taking a nap at the end of it. Even for her, that many monsters is a lot... in the anime though, Yuna takes them all down without taking a sweat, and the monster horde is super ridiculous. At one point, the mage had two goblin kings as personal bodyguards. (SERIOUSLY!)
Particularly pissed at the wyverns being awake in the anime. When Yuna eventually gets to fight awake wyverns in the LNs, she struggles taking them down. And yeah, eventually Yuna gets skilled enough to take down the beasts in droves, but that's like MUCH farther into the story. Because of how they handled the 10,000 monsters incident, there's just, no gradual power scaling anymore in the anime. There are no stakes in the slightest. It makes it EXTRA weird that Yuna faints fighting the Kraken.
I'm not a fan on how the anime handled Cliff's character. In the LNs, he's always face palming at Yuna's ridiculous antics and giving her sassy remarks. None of that carried over to the anime and he lost a lot of personality because of it.
Their introduction of Atola was a travesty. They turn her into a laughing idiot. You can argue that she redeems herself when she took down the Merchant Guild master, but it was still the weirdest goddamn way to introduce the character.
Sigh, I'm nitpicking at this point, let me dial back a bit.
There are a few things I liked about season 1.
I liked how they handled Yuna healing Tirumina. While it undercut's her intelligence a bit, it made it a lot more tense that Yuna didn't immediately figure out how to cure her illness, and anyone who hasn't read the books would be left wondering if Yuna can even save her for a few minutes there before she figured out what she was doing wrong. There was some good drama there, I was impressed how they did that.
While I'm upset how they handled Morin and Karin's arc, I do personally love how they ended it. In the LNs, Morin and Karin get the deed to their shop at the capitol before they left for Crimonia, and the deed was handed to them directly. In the anime, the deed arrives after their first day opening the shop, and the deed is handed to Yuna.
WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT, Yuna hands the deed to Morin and Karin and tells them they can go back home. When they ask about the shop, she says "It'll hurt us, but that's our problem." It's a great moment, and it's totally something Yuna would do. I also love how Morin and Karin's decision allowed the bear girl to contemplate on what she has now. It was very good!
If we had more moments like that, I would be more forgiving of season one, but I don't think the pros outweigh to cons here. Season 1 is deeply flawed, and while Season 2 isn't perfect by a long shot, it more carefully captured the tone and story of the originals better.
This turned into a much longer rant than I thought xD sorry for any typos, I'm tired as all hell.

Between us ep3
ep 3, head empty, no thoughts :)
So first off, Team skipping class because he was scared to be confronted by Win is literally the most relatable thing ever. Especially when Team later said “He’s not my father, nor my mother, why should I be afraid of him”. Like Team dearest, the audience can see right through that.
Also, I really liked that this episode seemed to (at least in the beginning half) slow down the story. We we’re given the chance to actually explore characters and their stories rather than a bunch of information being thrown at you left and right. I enjoyed that because I would much rather have a bunch of slower episodes spread through the show over a bunch of slow episodes at the end.
Even though the novel progressed quite fast, I wasn’t looking forward to watching them pad out the show to twelve episodes, so I think I am not alone in saying that I would rather have a bunch of slower episodes evenly spread.
Also, ABC gang being scared of Win and dropping Team TWICE might have actually been the funniest thing to come out of this show thus far. I actually liked how it played out lol. Also, there was only like ONE sound effect!!! This is proof that BLs can do funny things without sound effects!! (And then they turned around and played like a million sound effects through the rest of the episode *sigh*)
ALSO!! THAT ENDING WAS SO FUCKING ADORABLE OMG UJHDAS DASHDG AJHD  :)
Anyways, no deep thoughts this time around lol (But aside, now that I have seen people mention Wins roots I cant help but notice it in every scene lol. Also, whoever decided that Win needs to have his hair tied back is criminal, Boun looks SO DAMN FINE with his hair down)

listen when i was approximately fifteen (scratch that "approximately", i can actually carbon date this because i found a bookmark with a date written on it in the book lmao. thanks, past me!) i got really into phantom of the opera and, like any impressionable teen with a musical obsession, bought and read susan kay's bestseller (i assume) novel "phantom." a book which contains many, many normal things, such as
"his voice is a sin. a mortal sin. no woman who hears it will ever die in a state of grace"
the Scene with javert. you know the one. the one when he catches erik about to run away
literally what do you think is happening in persia, mrs kay
something is very wrong with the way this book describes sexual desire but i honestly don't even fuckin know
opium addiction my beloved
sorry the erik/christine in this is so problematic and i love it SO much
raoul my beloved i'm so sorry this happened to you but HSDGJFSHGH
and that's just the english version. because here's by far the FUNNIEST thing about susan kay's "phantom":
inexplicably, the german translation has been edited in certain sections. like, entire paragraphs or pages worth of text are just. gone. which let me tell you, reading it in german first was a very strange experience because the editing had left the text slightly incoherent in places. like, you'd read a sentence and there was something mentioned off-handedly that just didn't quite make sense. a phrasing that sounded odd. and it was only when i bought the english version that i realised there were parts missing from the gd book
it's weird, too. like... i really have no idea why they did any of that - the unhinged sexual energy hasn't been toned down, none of the brushes with rape or the drugs or what have you. the orientalism is still there, problematic as ever (though nadir's section was hit the hardest by the edits iirc. don't quote me on that tho, i haven't read it in a while). it's like they just went at the book with scissors and trimmed wherever, from what i can tell
anyway, this book shaped my writing style back when i was just getting started and i don't even know whether to be mad or grateful because what in the fuck was any of that

Break Open the Sky, a Tales of Symphonia ‘fic (Chapter 11)
Current Word Count: 88,519 Summary: What kind of “Hero” of Regeneration would she be to leave an infant to fend for itself? Someone had to have left it here for a reason. The question was, of course, why? But as she lifted the little thing carefully into her arms, the motion reminding her of nights so far in the past, now, the why seemed almost tragically clear: this baby was of mixed blood. Chapter Summary: Raine and Regal both try to navigate whatever weird relationship they have going on...and Sheena comes to town! Pairing/Characters: Raine, Original Characters, will also feature Genis, Regal, and Sheena. Endgame is Regal/Raine. Extra Info: This is technically an Accidental Baby Acquisition story, but I liken it more to “Doorstep Baby” literature because it sure ain’t cute. Rating: Mature, for themes. Genre: Eventual romance, gen, family, character study.
The title is the link to Ao3 for Chapter 11! Please enjoy the second longest chapter in the story! 🤍
Notes are under the cut!
The opening scene to this chapter, with Raine saying Regal sounds terrible but low-key thinkin’ it’s hot, is pulled hilariously enough from one of the funniest experiences I’ve ever had at my current job, where a male coworker was talking close to my desk and the person who sat across from me thought it was someone new/she hadn’t met yet and messaged me on the in-office chat app and asked who the deep and sexy voice belonged to. I had to sadly inform her it was our accountant, whose voice had gone down like four octaves with his illness and was completely unrecognizable.
--
“I would like to love you better, but you have to let me.” I’m proud of this line, actually. I feel like this pretty much encompasses everything these two characters have been wrestling with for the last two and a half years.
He wants to know her so that he can love her better. And she’s a bit afraid of that, because years ago she was a waste of someone’s time and she doesn’t want to be that for him.
Also, we finally get to the core of Raine’s issues on a more general level: she always feels she loves people incorrectly. It’s either too little or too much. It’s out of her control, and she hates not being in control. It makes her feel powerless and bad.
--
“Those We Meet in Heaven” is a spoof on “The Five People You Meet in Heaven” and the dance scene Regal references is a scene in the actual book. The novel is exactly what it says it is in the title: it’s about a man who dies and the 5 people he meets in heaven. These five guide him through…almost like an orientation, and many of them are people he doesn’t expect. They all are there to teach him some kind of lesson that “makes all the difference.” The fourth person the main character meets is his wife who died at 47 of cancer. Her heaven is being able to attend different weddings day in and out, and when it’s time for him to receive his lesson from her, they are dancing at their own wedding.
This is the dance scene Regal mentions in his letter.
In it, the main character finally asks his wife why she looks like she did the day he married her, and she tells him “Because I thought you’d like it that way.”
He asks her to change it so that she looks like she did in “the end” and she does. They smile at each other and dance together tenderly. He wanted her to look the way she did in the end because that is the last time he saw her alive & the version of her he loves wholly and completely.
As Regal states in his letter, the novel itself is more about the choices people make and how small things can affect others, sometimes to startling and unknowing degrees. It’s meant to kind of harken back to the things the characters have done to change the world, and in a more meta sense, it works to call back to the previous chapter’s discussion about how no relationship is a waste of time.
Also: it took me FOREVER to get to this bookshelf he's been saving for her, it seems. Regal thought about it briefly in the chapter where he shows her the library.
--
Lila’s dream reveals everything we really need to know about some things people have been wondering about for a while…
And Raine is learning how to be a little more open with her feelings!
--
Windermere is here:
Tumblr media
--
And finally we have Sheena! I didn’t want to add her character tag to the story until she was actually in it, and here she is!
And the last sentence. I wonder how many people saw that coming a mile away?

Thanks for answering my ask....If you don't mind me asking (again), what are your top 10 (or top 5) favorite media (can be books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series)? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before......Feel free to answer whenever you want to (or not). Thank you so much....
(You asked this a little bit ago and I put it in my drafts as a “I’ll finish this later” sort of thing then forgot until this morning, sorry)
1. Hyouka. It’s a mystery anime. There’s a manga as well, but I never got very far into it. The animation is really pretty, but the main draw for me was the mc Houtarou Oreki. The way he just doesn’t want to be there and also would like nobody to talk to him. Despite this, he’s friends with the exact opposite? And good friends. What a guy. Also, the mysteries are very fun to piece together.
2. Natsume Yuujinchou. I’ve always really liked this anime, and the manga. I like Natsume Takashi, the main character, and I also really like his grandmother, Natsume Reiko, who kind of acts as a secondary main character? She caused the whole plot to happen. I like how many people and yokai mistake Natsume for his grandmother, and the running theme of Natsume finally finding friends. It was also the first manga that ever made me cry, so it holds a special place in my heart.
3. MXTX’s novels. All three of them. I love the characters and I love the romances and I love the plots. I love the side characters! I can’t think of an author who has ever made me so invested in side characters before! I read them all for different reasons, so I don’t really have a favourite among them, but if I was held at gunpoint, I’d say Scum Villain is my favourite. Because I associate it with the colour green, and I like the colour green.
4. Moomins. I just… everything is so soft. And warm. And kind. Even when the characters are beinng objectively terrible, I just want to pat their heads and sigh wistfully. It’s definitely my comfort show. I occasionally watch clips from the nineties show just to cheer myself up again. I love Snufkin because his lines are amazing and I, too, would like to wander the world as a lone vagabond. (The whole conversation of “I made those footprints.” “What? How?” “With these big ol boots I found.” “Why are you wearing them?” “To see what life is like in someone else’s shoes.” “What’s it like?” “Uncomfortable.” I love every moment, I quote “uncomfortable” all the time)
5. Detective Conan (and Magic Kaitou) I love this series. I love the comedy of the most intelligent teenager alive being shrunk into a miniature. I love the drama. I love the characters, all twelve billion of them. I love that the twists are always so weird. I absolutey, positively adore the Kaitou Kid episodes! Something about little itty bitty Conan facing an international jewel thief… I also love the movies! I haven’t seen all of them (my attention span…) but my favourites are the Lupin III crossovers! And, of course, the best movie is the Lost Ship in the Sky, because it has the funniest scenes of anything ever. When Kaitou Kid (disguised as Shinichi) and Conan just leap out of a helicopter? I love them so much…
6. Encanto. I’ve watched this movie about 3-5 times (an impressive feat for me I promise) and every time the Abuela says “the miracle is not some magic that you’ve got, the miracle is you, not some gift just you” I cry actual tears. And I get major siblings feelings from all of it. It’s so good
7. Star Wars, specifically prequel-era and Original Trilogy-era. I love Anakin Skywalker. The most dramatic man to ever. And I love Luke Skywalker. And I love Leia. And Han, and Chewie, and Lando, and Obi-Wan (Obi-Waaaaannn 🫠) and just the majority of characters. I really enjoyed reading the Thrawn Trilogy because I found Mara Jade to be the funniest comedic foil to Luke. Luke is just vibing. Mara is like “You were stabbed fifteen seconds ago, what-“ Love the chaos duo Luke and Leia, who can’t go anywhere together because they attract misfortune but also can’t go anywhere apart because they attract misfortune. I love longsuffering Han who didn’t really realize that marrying Leia meant marrying Luke too. I have never watched the sequels, and I don’t really want to. I just wanna live in my lil bubble 👍
8. Resident Evil series. I’m counting the games here because I own exavctly zero consoles that run Resident Evil games and so I mostly just watch longplays, but I love the series. (One day I’ll be the Master of Unlocking… one day… when I have… more money…) I really like Ethan Winters because he reminds me of a kicked dog. I like Jill Valentine the mostest because I really like that her responses to all the weird comments Barry makes are just her laughing and agreeing. I like Chris Redfield because Wesker reveals his huge evil plan and Chris immediately starts laughing and Wesker gets actually upset that he isn’t taking him seriously. I like Ada Wong. She rocked in to Raccoon City to “find her boyfriend” (code for: do spy shit) in a dress and, like, tights? They could be leather pants, the graphics aren’t that clear, but I’m not sure? Her whole outfit in RE2 is amazing. Oh, and I like the horror elements too, the monster designs are so gross! 10/10!
9. Various DC comics. Namely, Batman, Robin, Young Justice, Swamp Thing, etc. I talk about Batman and Robin and all them a lot, but I really enjoy Swamp Thing! I never knew that it was a horror comic until I read it (I suppose it would have been logical to assume it was, but still) and I like him! He’s very cute. Squishy. I want to lay on him and tell him he’s doing a great job. I like the little mini Swamp Thing that grew after he was “killed” it’s so little!!!
10. Fire Emblem. I’m including another game series because I love Fire Emblem a lot. I have played so many hours of so many games (Tokyo Mirage Sessions crossover is underrated and everyone should play it and gush about it with me because Mamori runs a cooking show when she has no idea ow to cook!!! I love her!!!) I have wasted so much money on the mobile game (stop looking at me) I absolutely love this series! My favourites are Marth and Henry (FE:A) I love Marth, he is so… himself :) and I love Henry! He was raised by wolves! He converses with crows! He proposes with a cursed ring! He carries around monster parts just for funsies! He is the cutest little murder bean in the world! Fire Emblem Awakening got me into the series as a whole, and I have never been the same (side note: I also love Corrin, because they are a himbo whether male or female. I also love Robin, because they appear very reasonable and are tacticians and are very intelligent and they are also completely feral in weird ways and I like it a lot. I love Byleth, the best teacher who does not have a heartbeat and didn’t cry when they were born and doesn’t know how to emote)
This turned out longer than I expected, but I hope it’s what you were looking for.

Character asks for Butler: 1, 8, 19, 26, 30 please :D
1: My first impression of them
So the thing is. I first read the books nearly two decades ago. So my first impression is going to be a bit hard to capture, but knowing me as a young'un, I'd've thought he was cool as hell. Dad had been teaching me to shoot since I was about six, I'd gotten into archery as well, was reading fantasy novels with knights and thought swords were cool as shit. So a character that did all that stuff, and did it well? Cool as hell.
8: My favourite outfit of them
Lets be real here. Butler has all of three and a half outfits throughout the entire series, and they consist of: 1) Modern Professional in a Suit and Tie, 2) Cottagecore Granddad, and 3) Borrowed Luchador Bear Costume. The half comes in as a derivative of the Modern Professional: 1.5) Modern Professional Who's Had a Bad Day and is in a Tattered Suit and Covered in Blood.
That one is by far my favourite.
19: The most random ship you've seen people have with them
Uh. I saw some Butler/Holly ships years ago, and while I believe everyone can ship whatever they want, it's fiction, that's one I'm just not going to interact with.
26: When do I think they were being "themselves" the most
In Book 7, Butler winds up in Mexico "rescuing" his sister while wearing a Lycra bear costume and like fighting other wrestlers dressed like ninjas and stuff, still doing what he can to protect Artemis by keeping him out of the line of fire. It just really encapsulates what Butler does: protect the Principal, protect his family, do whatever it takes to accomplish those tasks.
30: The funniest scene they had
In Book 7, Butler winds up in Mexico "rescuing" his sister while wearing a Lycra bear costume and like fighting other wrestlers dressed like ninjas and stuff... Objectively speaking, that's fucking hilarious.

LMAO WAIT this romance novel I'm listening to had the hero accidentally make eye contact with the heroine while she's jacking him off and he's like "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" because emotional intimacy is turning him on
by far the funniest handjob scene I've ever read and I do love it
