I just . Repeating "characters are tools" you end up erasing so much about arashi's character and motivations and interactions with other characters if you avoid using her pronouns aka avoid showing she's transgender. It's on the same level of frustration with the translators i had when i saw they had Mika speaking standard English, there's a LOT that gets lost if you don't show those little things.

Donnie’s first mistake of the day is sneaking into 'Uncle Tello’s' newly set up lab. It promptly leads to his second mistake followed by his third mistake and then his fourth until it snowballs and then that snowball goes soaring into the frying pan, bounces, and lands in the fire.

In Donnie's defense, what else is he supposed to do when his future self moves in and sets up shop but snoop? Especially when said future self left the door open!

And yes, maybe he, of all people, should know better than to go messing with random liquids in beakers.

And yes, maybe he really should have known better than to wrestle over a vial of unknown liquid when Casey Jr caught him and subsequently objected to his presence and actions.

And maybe he shouldn’t have gotten annoyed and suddenly let go because he was mad and knew it’d make Casey fall.

 But even so! He wasn’t expecting it to come uncorked and spill all over Casey. And he really wasn’t expecting it to explode.

The explosion sends him rolling into the nearby desk. The second he stops he’s throwing himself upright, panicked and terrified. Nightmare images of Casey Jr maimed or worse fly through his head but there’s nothing where they were fighting but a pile of familiar clothes. Oh sweet Newton did I atomize him?!

Future him is going to kill him in a violent and terrible fashion.

Sure, Donatello probably has something to bring back his annoying time traveling future cousin/nephew/it’s complicated. But that’s not going to fix the fact that there’s a something to be fixed in the first place. And somehow Donnie guesses Donatello isn’t so different form himself that he somehow likes having to resurrect members of his family.

While Donnie is busy panicking and imagining his impending grisly demise, something under the pile of clothes wiggles.

Donnie stares. It wiggles again. Casey? Did the substance shrink him somehow?

“Please be Casey and please be at least mostly fine,” he whispers as he crawls forward and tentatively lifts the edge of the fabric with the very tips of his fingers.

Nothing happens. No more wiggles.

He picks the fabric- Casey’s shirt, apparently- the rest of the way up but there’s nothing under it either. Donnie picks it up and flips it around, gingerly feeling over it.

Still nothing.

“Casey Jr if you’re alive please stop hiding before your uncle finds out and takes his vengeance upon me.”  

He reaches for the pants, readying himself to pick through each article of clothes until he finds whatever- hopefully whoever- caused the wiggles, when he catches sight of movement.

On his shoulder.

Donnie slowly turns his head.

There is a baby mutant turtle clinging to his shoulder. He has little red markings like crescents that couldn’t decide which way to curve decorating his face and dark peach fuzz hair decorating his head.

The baby turtle- Casey Jones Junior the baby turtle- chirps. It pings in that instinctive part of Donnie’s brain as “Hello family hello!”

And then he lunges, tiny turtle teeth latching onto the side of Donnie’s face.
