Tumblr skews young, so let me just share this.

The worst thing you can do in a job is not be bad at something. It's to say you are great at something while being bad at something. If you need to improve and you're upfront that you're not the best, people will probably help or teach or explain. They will sympathize when you get put on a task you're not qualified for.

If you claim to be awesome at something when you demonstrably suck at it, all of that good will and sympathy is gone and it will not come back.

Confident is good. Stand up for yourself, know your skills.

But the other side of this is to Know your Faults.

So much of the queer rep we see is young people- and I love it! I’m a young queer person and relating to these characters is lovely!! But there’s something about seeing all these characters, middle aged, parents, who have lived life queer and they’re... happy!! They still get to be happy! It’s just so fucking inspiring because it gives me so much hope that there’s more than one way to have a happy life even when you’re old yk?

ahhhhh it's one of my fave beatle photos!!

i don't know if there's a specific story to this night, it just looked really fun. it's them playing at the top ten club in hamburg. i just adore the energy of it though. the way paul and john are singing and playing to each other and just feeding off each other's delight, and it's so much fun that george and stu are also smiling just watching them. it really captures how infectious their joy for playing is. also just the rare occasion when they're not matching, so they really look like any random band, it's very humanising. paul's dressed like an IT guy! he doesn't even have a guitar at this show (i think his broke at some point in hamburg so he was on piano and drums for the rest of their time there), he's just singing! it's very informal in a way.

the composition is so great too. the presiding impression most people have of beatles shows is girls screaming, so it's really cool seeing a couple dancing and completely ignoring them (while being completely ignored back because the beatles are performing for each other). also, if i remember correctly the guy on the bottom right corner is some hamburg ganster, which is really funny. these children are performing to thugs! and having the best time!

i still can't get over how deep steve and peggy's respect, admiration and love for one-another was woven into their individual journeys throughout the mcu. it makes me so happy.

steve thinks about her in every film, he carries her picture and talks about her influence on him even when he's trying to suffer in silence. then there is peggy, with a picture of him pre-serum on her desk, who talks about him, and carries his influence and looks up to him throughout her entire career. i love them so much.

Can we talk about the scene where MK finds Wukong in the scroll?

Wukong is always smiling. I don't think we've ever seen a true smile from him, but he's always smiling.

He wasn't even trying to smile.

Wukong is always smiling, laughing, cracking jokes, playing dumb and lightening the mood. He wasn't doing any of that this time.

You could hear it in his voice, when he looked at MK there wasn't even an attempt at a joke, or a smile, or anything. He was so upset.

The Wukong and Macaque scenes are adorable, yes, and their fallout broke my heart but this crushed me.

Even after they get together, it's rare to hear either Mario or Peach drop the L-bomb with one another. They typically express their affections through actions or gestures, like giving one another gifts or finding a workload to take off of the other's shoulders or just spending time together; when words come into play, it's things like "You're incredible" or "You're my hero."

But contrary to popular belief, the words "I love you" pass between them quite often! It's just that they prefer to say it only when they're in absolute privacy... because once they start, they can't stop.

When you spend years upon years sitting on intense mutual feelings for one another, the novelty of finally being able to speak those feelings plainly never quite wears off. Catch them in a private moment (or don't, that would be embarrassing for all involved) and you're likely to find them kissing like mad, be it giggly chaste kisses or impassioned makeouts that are more tongue than lips, muttering "I love you, I love you, I love you" every time they come up for air. The moment one or the other says those three words, that's more or less all they'll be able to say and think about for the next ten minutes to three hours, depending on the mood and the occasion.

So naturally they just... do their best not to say it when that time isn't guaranteed. It's easier for everyone that way.

People who dislike Ashley are incapable of being normal about it. They attach to her whatever lingo that was meant to signify a problem in the world but has been whittled down to "woman I don't like,". They claim she would be involved for various tumultuous current events because that's a normal thing to do. They blame her for Wrex's death, which is the easiest thing in the world to prevent. You can't post a screenshot without someone talking about their fantasies about killing her. At this point any flaws the character actually has pale in comparison. This character grows more in a 30-50 hours game than actual people have in 10+ years.

It has more of a meaning as the season goes on. That's pretty much all I can say, but I think once you watched the entire season, there's more of a thematic resonance to that. I feel sick. Tumblr has basically been my whole world for the last 14 or so years, more than a third of my life. It feels like a beloved friend has just been diagnosed with a terminal illness. I don't know how long they have left but I now have to live with the knowledge that the end is near. That some day, possibly soon, I will have to live in a world without them. That I will probably have to watch them slowly wither away until they're a husk of their former self (which has already been happening though I've tried to turn a blind eye) and I'm not sure if that's better or worse than pulling the plug because at least I'll have a little more time with them.

I know there have been "tumblr is dead" scares in the past but this one is not like those. This one is not a joke. It's real (unless a miracle occurs and we suddenly gets a massive amount of funding from some generous benefactor). Tumblr has been rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic for years now but we've finally hit the iceberg.

My only hope is, now that we know the end is no longer theoretical, the tumblr community will rally around and put real funding into an alternative like pillowfort or cohost. Now more than ever we need to create a true crowdsourced archive of our own for fandom so that this can't keep happening.

I'll make backup accounts on other sites, but in case you were wondering, I'm not planning on going anywhere just yet. I'm going down with this ship. It's been an honor and a privilege. 🫡
