snw fanboy Pike with a popular (kinda celebrity but not really) captain reader? Where Pike is the reader’s biggest fan and he gets to meet them at a starfleet party.

Chris meeting you, his idol would include:

•he’s like an overexcited puppy! Una, Spock and La’an are all witness to the way that their Captain seems to come alive. He’s practically bouncing on the balls of his feet, eyes bright and sparkling!

•and all because of you. All because you’re going to be at the Starfleet gala they’re going to.

•Chris has read every bit of your file, got a copy of every Starfleet poster you’ve ever been on, had listened to all the public Captain’s Logs. In short, he was your number one fan!

•honestly, it’s so much fun for Una, she’s enjoying the way that he’s acting like a schoolboy- blushing, giggling, smoothing out his uniform!

•and then he sees you, his jaw goes slack. His palms are sweaty and the normally confident captain is suddenly a little bit of a clown!

•little does he know that you feel exactly the same! You’re bouncing towards him, excited- you’re his biggest fan!

•you two both greet each other at exactly the same moment, using exactly the same words! You shake hands, a tight clasp, shaking up and down for much longer than strictly necessary! And then you both burst into laughter. And so, the ice is broken

•the two of you spend the rest of the evening tucked into a world of your own, laughing together, sharing drinks, the rest of the world just melted away. It was the start of something very beautiful.

If "Subspace Rhapsody" took place in S1 I have some headcanons

A- I feel like it would have been funny to do just covers of songs instead of just making up new ones- cuz then the crew would be scrambling to decipher wtf Una and Chris meant by singing a duet to 'Whenever Wherever' by Shakira (Like are they friends? Should we call Batel??)

I feel like La'an would have sung in something other than English, because god damn it if she's going to sing her feelings- she's going to at least sing in a language no one understands! (Aka Chinese opera or Bollywood lol )

M'Bena and Pike should have had a buddy duet to something stupid

Hemmer would have had a cute duet with Uhura to something sweet, maybe a sad/dramatic solo alone

Chapel would be singing 'What the hell' by Avril Lavigne

Erica needs to do 'my way' by Queen Key, she/they don't have a choice

Spock should have 2 songs or more, each in a different language (one of which is Vulcan) and one of them has to be some horrific pop song that he will deny that he has ever listened to

every time the song comes on, the crew has no idea who's singing and why, so they just look around frantically until someone breaks out singing-

Oh, and they should have control of their facial expressions. If Una's going to put on a show, she's going to be rolling her eyes and smirking the whole time.

Does this Star Trek character know where the clit is?

Let’s start with the captains:

Kirk- probably? But he doesn’t always use it proper. Still better than most.

Picard- this man’s posture becomes a plank as soon as the word is mentioned. Yes he knows, yes it because he slept around as a student, no he will not talk about it.

Sisko- 100% knows and knows how to use it too. I think he loves giving head.

Katheryn- of course.

Archer- doubtful. He claims to know but he goes into every sexual encounter as well prepared as he goes into his role as captain or any battle situation or ANY contact with aliens or- I’ll stop.

Saru- no. Man’s didn’t even know his body was capable of surviving a major fever.

Michael- Of. Course.

Freeman- yes, but.

Pike- for certain. I think he also liked giving head or anything as long as his partner is into it. I just KNOW he’s also a little freaky, but refuses to show it to anyone, ever.

I think Pike is 100% one of those people who hyperfocuses on their physical health to avoid dealing with their mental health and the reason that he’s significantly beefier in SNW than Discovery is because he spent his year on Earth doing push-ups instead of contemplating his impending doom.

Star Trek TOS/SNW Prompt List

Okay, for now this is what I got, and I'm thinking maybe Ill try to make a list like this every month (???maybe?) to get my brain working. Might do another Garashir one tomorrow or after tomorrow. 🤔

Spirk are beamed down to a planet of giants

Spirk fixing a console problem from outside the Enterprise

Spirk feels their T'hy'la bond across the galaxy from each other. (Conceptualization of the T'hy'la)

Spock murders the giant Omni (The Price of Phoenix) in defense of an injured Jim.

The moment Spock mind melds with Jim (as Janice Lester) and the memories that pass between them.

Professor James T. Kirk, a stack of books with legs, teaching a class with Mitchell and Carol in attendance and Janice Lester as co-professor.

Jim takes a moment to mourn his brother, Sam, and his sister-in-law, Aurelian with his nephew Peter.

Jim fights the Gorn (SNW style)

Jim watches the Enterprise as it pierces through Tarsus IV's clouds. The crowds that are left stand in shock as well.

Trelane comes back, older (as teen personality vs TOS's young boy personality), a menace as ever. How will Spock and Kirk deal with him this time?

M'Benga in the middle of the Klingon War.

Doctor M'Benga and Doctor Chapel marry, post tmp. The Enterprise (TOS/SNW) are in attendance.

La'an mourns her Jim as the timeline switches back into place.

Omni (The Price of Phoenix) abducts Jim, on Vulcan as Spock prepares for Kolinahr hears Jim's distress. (pre-tmp) (yes, I am obsessed with this villain and the books)

Jim with his Tholian child, Bright Eyes, find themselves in Sulu's botanic lab.

Mirror Verse!Spirk meet over Pike's dead body, Uhura and Spock are aligned, and impressed with their new Captain.

The SNW crew ARE turned into bunnies, Jim, Spock, and Uhura have to care for them while they fix the problem

The Enterprise and Farragut crews team up to deal with a situation on a Greek themed planet. (SNW)

Harry Mudd and his double? is once again found doing something criminal and ridiculous. 

McSpirk finds themselves in the Mirror Verse's past, an earth where Khan wins, and successfully conquers the Earth (my headcanon on why the Mirror Verse exists).

Young Jim copes (or doesn't) with his first kills on Tarsus IV, while holding young Kevin Riley.

Uhura is planning a musical, sadly many of the bridge crew decline participation, surprisingly Spock does not! He plays the music. Their show becomes a yearly tradition.

Admiral Kirk sits alone in his home on Earth, and drinks. He thinks about Spock and the Enterprise and wonders how it all went wrong.

Yeoman Rand brings new Earth trends to the Enterprise, Uhura, Chapel, La'an, and Una all try something new.

Yeoman Rand and Captain Kirk fight a group of hostile aliens, their movements are in sync. (Yeoman Rand is Captain Kirk's protégée in this prompt)

Rand, Uhura, and Sulu attempt to talk to the local parliament comprised by what looks like sentient flowers.

Future!Spirk get time displaced and find themselves on the SNW Enterprise, not knowing whether they've stopped at an alternate universe, or the past, they keep quiet on the state of future affairs. Between a living Sam Kirk, and an uninjured Pike, both Jim and Spock are stressed.

Jim hesitates to fire at the dikironium cloud creature, and loses consciousness as the creature sets upon the Farragut.

Jim and Spock, and begrudgingly Droxine, catch the view from Stratos.

The enterprise picks up a child from a dying ship. The child with prophetic powers opens a popup storybook that involves the future of the enterprise, the art style depicts a style like the tos series, and two indistinct figures of a captain and his first officer. Chris Pike watches in trepidation as the story unfolds.

building on this headcanon as posted here because i have spent so long rotating it in my head despite not having a plot to house it:

uhura is Not Into It at first but they eventually sway her into semi-regular attendance with the promise of overblown camp + comedy. i feel like she'd also be obsessed with pontypool due to the language aspects

hemmer doesn't like the violence but he'll discuss soundtracks and their efficacy ad infinitum in the mess hall

every halloween they try to binge the halloween franchise only to get two movies in and give up. they're obsessed with the franchise's refusal to respect its own canon though and talk so much about it that uhura assumes they've seen all the films at least five times

•when Chris looks up from the counter he’s shocked. His eyes go wide, he drops the fork he was toying with idly, the deafening clatter of it falling on deaf ears.

Sam Kirk’s lips curled into a smile. “Sorry, you’re not invited. Maybe next time though.”  

Both aliens were left speechless. Neither Hemmer nor Spock had anything quick to say. As Sam turned and stalked away, Hemmer leaned in, finally controlling his temper. “Oh. We’re invited.”

“What are you implying?” Spock said flatly, “We very clearly are not invited to this Andorian Science gala.”

“My mother is the Speaker of the Aenar. Your father’s an ambassador. We’re invited.”

Spock paused, seemingly collecting himself. After a moment, he scoffed, “Are you…suggesting we go not as Starfleet officers, but as members of our families? This is an abuse of-”

“-No, it’s not. My mother is off-planet right now. She won’t be attending.”

“That means you can attend,” Spock sighed, “I fail to see how this involves me.”

Hemmer’s face split into a devious grin. “I need a plus-one, don’t I?” 

Another pause. Spock nodded slowly, “I…understand. I would enjoy going to this gala, there will be many prominent xeno-biologists in attendance. If it would not trouble you-”

“-Spock. I’m the one who asked.” Hemmer smiled, patting his friend lightly on the shoulder, “Wear something nice.”

“Is that not a requirement?”

“What is that!?” Spock spat, somewhat emotionally.

The gala had already started, but it was Aenar custom to show up fashionably late. The building was modern, sleek, and incredibly well-heated as the Vulcans were to be in attendance. However, Hemmer was dressed for something much more casual. 

“It’s Aenar party wear,” Hemmer said smugly, adjusting his belt. 

“That’s not-” Spock took a deep breath, “That is not formal attire.” 

Hemmer tugged on his armband. Technically, Spock was right. What little clothes he had on were certainly not to the standards of a human ‘black-tie’ event, and certainly too risqué for any Vulcan occasion. 

“I was also unaware that you possessed tattoos,” Spock murmured, head turning slightly to the side. “Are they of significant importance?”

“Of course they are. I cover the ones on my forearms and chest for privacy reasons, but the rest can be displayed.”

“Privacy reasons? You’re practically shirtless, and in-” Spock huffed, “you’re wearing something translucent. I am grateful you put the thought into wearing shorts, but I cannot be seen in a manner such as this.”  

Hemmer snorted, “Please. As I have said, nudity isn't a popular concept amongst the Aenar.” He pushed past his friend, “Clothes are a formality, not a necessity in temperatures like these.” 

“Also,” He grinned, “You’re my plus one. If anyone should be wearing something translucent it should be you.” Chuckling to himself, Hemmer gestured to the entrance of the Gala. 

Shaking his head, Spock followed. He was dressed in formal attire, covered from his shoulders to his ankles- a complete contrast to Hemmer. 

“You are also not wearing the correct footwear.” Spock sighed, “I fail to see why your outfit is necessary. As you have told me, the Aenar do not care for decoration.” 

“Oh, you’ll see.” 

Before Spock could comment, the doors opened. The event hall was spacious, but the murmurs of the crowd were almost at a dull roar. Hemmer could have sworn he had been inside stadiums that were quieter. 

An Andorian diplomat greeted them almost immediately. “Hemmer’ash’acht.” He bowed slightly, “I am aware you are substituting for the Speaker this evening.”

“I am,” Hemmer said flatly. Almost dully, as if he was uninterested. 

The diplomat bowed again, slightly, to Spock. His face contorted in confusion for a second, then relaxed. “This is your Han’gain-at?”

Spock’s head swiveled towards his friend. No words were necessary, his surprise and confusion were apparent on his face. 

“Yes. He is my guest.” Hemmer nodded, his tone even. Before Spock could interject, he held up his hand in an Aenar gesture. 

Wait.

Spock held his tongue. 

The diplomat nodded slowly and walked away, spouting off a polite goodbye that was entirely too long for either man’s liking. 

“What is that word?” Spock asked, “Han’gain-at?”

“It means ‘guest’ but is loosely referred to as ‘friend’. It’s a respected term. It means you are to be held in high esteem– and as I am substituting for my mother– you are to be respected as she is… as I am.” 

“I am starting to suspect you had ulterior motives in inviting me here.” Spock snapped lightly, “May I inquire as to what they might be?”

“My ‘ulterior motives’ are primarily to piss off Kirk…and to allow you to have a good time.” Hemmer smiled, “The Andorians in attendance have to treat you with the utmost respect, but this applies to every species. Anyone who dares to cross you will be the subject of my wrath.”

“The Aenar do not believe in wrath.”

“We do not. However, we are very very good at bluffing.” He scoffed, “And economic blackmail.”

Spock raised an eyebrow. “What are you suggesting?”

“I am aware that you are not treated kindly by your peers- Vulcan, Andorian, and others– due to your heritage. I may be blind, but I’m not deaf.” Hemmer sighed, “I would like you to have a nice evening, free of unsolicited comments, insults, or aggressions.” 

“You-” Spock smiled slightly, “You wore that outfit on purpose to draw attention to yourself.”

“Yes, I did. Also, because it’s hot.” He chuckled, “I own half of the companies that are represented in this room. If anyone were to say anything rude to either of us I can and will retaliate.” 

“Economic blackmail? I was…unaware that the Aenar possessed such abilities. I thought-”

“-We don't use money internally, yes. We are, however, the sole exporter of yttrium on this side of the quadrant. I am not a poor man and neither are my people.”

“May I ask, what is your net worth?” Spock asked, shifting a little.

“You don’t want to know.” Hemmer smiled darkly, “Go. Enjoy your evening. I am a mechanic and not a scientist, so I will be resigning myself to exile by the dessert table and the punch bowl.” 

“Hemmer-”

“-No. Go enjoy yourself. I’m not wearing chiffon for nothing.” 

Spock sighed heavily, but he left to join the larger conversations of his academic peers. 

Hemmer watched from a distance. Using his connections, he kept an eye on his friend throughout the entire evening. There were no slip-ups, no unwarranted comments about his mother, his home, or his family. Spock was allowed to exist without judgment. 

Even though it was only for a few hours. 

As Hemmer gazed across the room, even though he couldn't see his friend's face, he could tell that he was happy. Content even. 

The Vulcan was practically glowing as they left. “I was able to secure a connection to one of my academic superiors.” He said with a slightly satisfied huff, “I am to contact her immediately when my research for my latest experiment aboard the Enterprise is done.” 

“Hm. Good.”

“Thank you.” Spock said, turning his head away, “I…” After a moment of silence, he collected himself and nodded. “Thank you. It was nice to experience a quiet evening.”

The quiet unfortunately didn’t last much longer. 

“Spock? Hemmer?” Captain Pike’s voice carried through the hall. Sam Kirk followed close behind, stifling a chortle. 

“What are you wearing?” Kirk sneered, hand plastered to the lower half of his face. 

Hemmer groaned, turning around. “You’re the xeno-anthropologist, shouldn’t you know?” 

“Ok!” Pike smiled painfully, diving in between the two men and clasping his hands together. “Alright, can we please not argue in public again? After your last spat on Vulcan, I had to call eight other captains to assure them that I was able to control my ship.”

Rolling his eyes, Hemmer nodded. The last argument he had with Kirk escalated quickly- too quickly. He had barely managed to control his temper. 

“What?” Kirk scoffed gruffly, “I’m asking Spock, not Hemmer. I know what Aenar traditional clothes look like!” 

Hemmer turned. “Spock, what are you wearing? I cannot see, I assumed it was Vulcan robes.” 

A pause. 

“I’m wearing a formal Earth outfit. Human robes. It was a gift from my mother.” 

Pike took a sharp breath, “Lovely. Kirk, we can continue this conversation later-” 

“Are you sure it was a gift to you?” Kirk snickered. 

Hemmer stepped forward. “Stop badgering him. It is none of your business to inquire why he received it-”

“-Hemmer.” Spock sighed, “Kirk, why do you ask?”

“Spock,” Kirk giggled, “Spock, those aren't formal Earth robes, that's an antique evening dress. A classy one, –and an expensive one by the looks of it– but it’s usually worn by women.” he inhaled “Are you sure your mother gifted it to you or your fiance?” 

Spock paused. “...She didn’t deliver it in person. There was a note.” He sighed. 

“No one told you?” Pike asked, “No one pulled you aside to ask about your attire?”

“No.” Spock glanced at Hemmer. 

Hemmer groaned, “No, they wouldn’t. Spock was my Han’gain-at for the evening. If anyone had pulled him aside to ask it would be considered rude.” 

Inwardly screaming, Hemmer put a hand to his face. His plan had worked. Only, it had worked a little too well. 

“At least you got that superior’s number, right?” He asked, face still in his hands. 

“Yes.” Spock’s hands reached up to touch his brow for a moment, “Although, I am unsure now whether it was given in jest or not.” 

“Probably not. If she had given you a fake number, it would be considered a death warrant for whoever she worked for.” Hemmer shrugged, “To those who interacted with you this evening- the ones who were more than polite– we now know that they can be trusted. That they do not judge easily.” 

Pike smirked, “Ah, trial by fire- a litmus test.” 

Pinching his nose bridge, Hemmer nodded, “I guess, although that was not my intent.” 

“Afgain’im.” Spock huffed, nudging him slightly, “Your efforts are not unnoticed or unappreciated.”

“Thank you, Spock. Let’s…leave. I’ll buy dessert and coffee for everyone unless you’d like to change.”

“No.” Spock smiled a bit, “I have worn this for a few hours, and it is not uncomfortable. Since I was able to wear it in front of my academic superiors, I think the waiter at a dessert bar will not be fazed.” 

Pike looked between his chief engineer and his spunky xeno-anthropologist officer. “If you two can behave, I’ll pay.”

Hemmer scoffed. 

“Sir.” He chuckled darkly, “Have you learned nothing from this evening? I am not a poor man. At least let me atone for my mistakes this evening.”

“Mistakes?” Pike smiled, “You know, that dress is certainly an antique, but I disagree with Sam.” He scoffed, rolling his eyes. Then, he stepped forward, smiling more genuinely and eyeing his Chief Science Officer. 

“Spock, you look great.”

And another thing!!! Between Emh and Tuvok, i think I'm gonna start headcanoning that Tom just has a daddy kink. Which afaik is common to daddy issue havers (i wouldn't know lol my father has always been so irrelevant to my life i simply never gave enough of a shit about his opinion to develop daddy issues. got mommy issues for days tho. wait is that why i'm so into janeway? whatever i won't question it) so it defo makes sense. (And he does also have mommy issues so I'll go ahead and project my attraction to Kathy onto him too while I'm at it. I mean what)

Anyway, point is: Chakotay kinda daddy? Like he's not rlly doing it for me personally but I felt I should at least suggest it since imo he'd be the next logical step. This is a fun ask!!!

HEADCANON TIME! THE BOYS AND THEIR INSTRUMENTS.

These are based on canon thots rather than my series takes.

Dave York: Cello. He's detail-oriented with perfect pitch and cello demands precise finger placement to get the proper note. He's a wizard at bow technique and the faster staccato bowing feels like a strategic attack, which he's fond of.

Dieter Bravo: pretty much anything he picks up, but particularly likes Sitar, Didgeridoo, and Steel Tongue Drum. The sitar has one million strings so it's a challenge to master and he finds something meditative and enlightening about that...and it's good for aligning the chakras. Steel tongue drum has a pleasing tone and he can just zone out and rock on like a dang hippie, those things pretty much play themselves. He says the didgeridoo is to improve lung capacity and breath strength, but he just likes being fucking annoying.

Din Djarin: Bes'bev. It's a Mandalorian flute made out of beskar that can also be used as a weapon. It was most likely not used too much in his particular clan because it would require taking his helmet off to play, but I think he'd like the low, mellow sound of it and wouldn't mind playing in private. It might be meditative for him.

Ezra: Harmonica equivalent. I don't know what would still be available in the distant future, but some kind of mouth instrument like this would be ideal. It's small, so it doesn't take up much room either in a prospector's pack or in a pocket, and it can be played with one hand. I think he also might like the esoteric throwback of the cowboy aesthetic of it anyway....

Frankie Morales: Guitar and Trumpet. Boy's got the lungs for brass and I bet he played in his high school band. But nowadays, he plays guitar. Not well, just noodles. It mostly sits forgotten in a corner of his room, but every once in a while he picks it up and aquatints himself with it again. Likes playing Johnny Cash, Bon Jovi, Nirvana, and Carlos Santana.

Jack Daniels: Guitar. Basic cowboy necessity.

Javi Gutierrez: Mandolin. He loved the romance of Captain Corelli's Mandolin and after Nic crushed the part, he had an irresistible urge to take lessons. Flies a teacher in from Italy on the regular. He's not very good at it, but he's learning to play Gabriela's favorite song for her birthday.

Javier Peña: Piano. It's not like he keeps it a secret. But it's always a surprise when it's revealed. Usually when he's drunk and melancholy and there's one in the room. He'll saunter over and plop down, plunk a few notes, and then come out with some old standard that just makes everyone's jaw drop. He hated learning growing up, but he likes that it's an instrument where he can play and smoke at the same time.

Marcus Moreno: Tuba. I mean, he doesn't really play it regularly anymore. But he was one of the strongest dudes in his school and he had no issues carrying the thing or having enough lung capacity to play it. He still has it and he'll bring it out every once in a while to jam with Missy while she practices trombone. And every year he plays Christmas carols with a brass quintet in the town square. The rest of the quintet is all seniors, members of an older generation of Heroics.

Marcus Pike: Bass Guitar. Canon.

Maxwell Lord: Percussion. He so wanted to be accepted by his peers when he was younger and did whatever he could to be cool and useful...and to make noise to stand out. And what garage band doesn't need a drummer? It was his one-way ticket to popularity in his youth. He recently bought a whole new set--top of the line, tricked out with all the extra snares and tams--for Alistair as a surprise. He hopes that teaching him will be a father/son bonding experience.

Max Phillips: Electric guitar. He likes to be the center of attention and probably tried to front a band at one point. It's really just a big phallic symbol, right? Plus, it's one of the few instruments people lick while they play it and that's awesome.

Nico: Clarinet. He likes jazz. But not just any jazz. Really good, really soulful stuff you've probably never heard of but need to. This is usually his idea of a good date. Bring 'em home, puts on a record and have them listen to him play along with it, give them a good lecture about the obscure recording he's accompanying, and then drive them home or let them sleep in the guest bedroom.

Oberyn Martell: Bone flute, lute, harp. As a son of the royal household, he would have been taught courtly instruments. And he would have skipped out on practices to fraternize with the palace maids. But he still would have mastered them all. He doesn't really pursue musical study, preferring to hear someone else play so that he can fuck or think or write to it. But every now and then Ellaria will bring him a lute and ask him to play something sad and beautiful for her, and he would never deny her.

Pedro Across the Street: Your wife. Like a fucking violin.

Pero Tovar: Rough flute. The music that Pero would have heard growing up would have had a lot of Iberian Islamic influences and he would be familiar with reeded and wind flute music. Sleeping rough and keeping watch would give him plenty of idle time and I think he might put his dagger to use with whittling. Over some time, he might carve out a flute or two and become adept at playing it. But he only does it for himself and his own comfort, never for anyone else.

The Thief: Violin. Beautifully. Soulfully. Never took lessons, just stole the gift from someone else.

Comandante Veracruz: Accordion. Don't you fucking dare bring it up or tell anyone. He will gut you.

Compilation of parallels and connections between La’an and Spock

I made this list mostly to keep track for my gif sets, but it’s also a list of all the reasons why I love this ship so much. There are some headcanons inbetween but all based on established canon. 

I will add more (or make a 2nd list) if I find more, especially when S2 airs. Feel free to let me know in case I have forgotten something.

Also I apologize for the ridiculous length of this post, but when I started to actually write down everything that came to my mind, I realized how much these two characters truly have in common. While they are different on first glance, they share too many core qualities and experiences and too many parallels in their character arcs to ignore or dismiss them as coincidence.

Heritage/Childhood:

1.      Both are not entirely “human” with unusual genetics with Spock being one of few human/Vulcan hybrids and La’an being an Augment descendant.

2.      Both had a difficult childhood, including traumatic experiences, which shaped and still reflected in their personalities and behaviors.

3.      Both suffered from being bullied and excluded by other children, being considered as “abominations” due to their unconventional heritage.

4.      Though they dealt with this in the opposite way (nice anti parallel here!) with Spock repelling his human side while La’an made herself an expert on her Augment heritage.

5.      Both struggle with their identity in regards to the duality of their nature - Spock with being a hybrid and La’an with being an Augment/Khan descendant (which will apparently get more delved into in S2).

6.      They both come from considerably unconventional families and have experiences with foster care - Spock due to having had a foster sister and La’an due to having most likely been in foster care herself after being orphaned (I hope we’ll learn more about this in S2).

7.      Both had an older sibling which was very important to them and who they lost in a very traumatic way with the older siblings sacrificing themselves for their younger sibling.

8.      Both have experienced a time when they have been “lost”/lost their way – Spock felt lost, torn between his Vulcan and human path, while La’an was both literally lost in space as well as emotionally lost after losing her family.

9.      Both were “saved” from being lost by someone (Michael/Una) showing them a new path/helping them find their way back which ultimately led them to join Starfleet.

Work/Starfleet:

1.      They both hold the same (or similar?) rank with both of them being Lieutenants and senior officers / bridge crew members on the Enterprise.

2.      They’re usually sitting at their stations on opposite sides of the bridge, reflecting their roles of being opposites and representing “both sides of the equation”, often voicing contrary information/advice so that the Captain can make the best possible decision (very apparent in the pilot with their back and forth).

3.      Both value being part of Starfleet very highly, calling it a “dream” with both of them feeling like they have finally found a place on the Enterprise where they belong and are accepted for who they are.

4.      Both are very devoted to their duties (workaholics pretty much), expecting people to give their best and mostly follow rules and protocols very intently, but also know when to bend/break the rules.

5.      Both are firm teachers, expecting full dedication, to take work seriously and to give nothing but the best, but they also give credit where credit’s due and encourage growth when they see the potential (as shown with Uhura).

6.      They both have a close mentor/ward-like relationship with one of their superior officers – Spock with Pike and La’an with Una.

7.      Both have been Acting Number One in Una’s absence - La’an in the pilot/1x04 and Spock in the Illyrian Enigma comic.

8.      Both are James Kirk’s first officer at one point - Spock in the prime timeline on the Enterprise (obviously) and La’an in the alternate future timeline on the Farragut (it was not explicitly stated in the episode, but there’s enough evidence to back this up).

9.      Contrary to this, neither are fans of Sam Kirk (understandable!).

Personality:

10.   They both share a lot of similarities in their personalities despite the differences at first glance - La’an is described as “direct, looking at outcomes, not emotion” which are also the most prominent traits of Spock (seriously, that description could be applied about Spock just the same!).

11.   La’an’s attitude to not get emotional, her level of control over her feelings and her bluntness bear great resemblance to Spock’s Vulcan spirit of mind.

12.   Still they are different in their views and approaches to not be copycats of each other, resulting in their tendency to bicker intensely with each other even across the bridge (which could be hinting at unresolved tension and may or may not be some sort of foreplay).

13.   Both attach great importance to professionalism.

14.   Both keep a cool head even under the most tense circumstances.

15.   Both tend to hide their true feelings - Spock with his stoic logic and La'an with her aggression.

16.   Both experienced intense grief over losing their sibling which still haunts them.

17.   Both are capable of feeling intense rage. 

18.   Both needed psychological help at one point - Spock’s stay in the Starfleet psychiatry and La’an’s appointments with the Starfleet shrink.

19.   They both possess a high capacity to control their emotional reactions and pain threshold.

20.   Because of their rough childhood experiences, both are emotionally reserved, socially awkward and find dealing with people often “challenging”, keeping most people at a distance.

21.   Neither are very fond of childish behavior mostly due to their childhood experiences – Spock doesn’t like hijinks and La’an’s no fan of Enterprise bingo.

22.   Nevertheless when they do engage in “childish behavior”, they are both very dedicated and quite good at it.

24.   Neither are the most fun though they both have a mischievous side as shown with Spock’s teasing with Chapel and with La’an teasing of Spock when he wore shorts.

26.   Both are bad at pep talks, rather telling the truth instead of sugar coating it, but are willing to learn and acknowledge the importance of providing hope and lifting the crew’s spirit under dire circumstances.

27.   They both are very tactically skilled and quick thinkers, coming up with a new plan very quickly when the situation requires it – like La’an faking fainting and Spock faking the affair with Chapel to deceive their opponents.

28.   Because of these similar qualities, they have been shown to work very naturally and efficiently together, making them actually a very good team - like when they worked together to reanimate Sam Kirk.

29.   They are both very skilled in physical combat and use similar techniques to fight in the most efficient way. They have been shown to use the same sequence of moves to beat opponents and it’s reasonable to assume that La’an is one of few people on the Enterprise matching Spock’s level of physique/strengths.

Physical aspects:

30.   Both tend to use the same formal stance with their hands clasped behind their back, rarely standing at ease even if formality is not required.

31.   They often sit or stand side by side during briefings.

32.   They have also been shown moving in sync.

33.   The colors of their uniforms are opposites, mirroring their complementary characters and relationship with each other.

34.   They possess the perfect height difference (yes, this is very important to me!)

35.   Both seem to prefer their uniform instead of casual clothes.

36.   Both rock the rogue looks (DISCO Spock and S2 promo La’an, am I right?).

Story/character arcs:

37.   Both get a “second chance” on the Enterprise to live up to their true potential after being through a rough time - Spock’s experience with the Red Angel, La’an’s experience with the Gorn.

38.   La’an noticed Spock’s distress after fighting the Gorn, reminiscing of her own past confrontation and making her take over his role in the plan (Spock was the one supposed to join Hemmer).

39.   All the visual parallels between Spock and La’an making the Gorn angry.

40.   The epic mind meld and its importance of being the first mind meld shown on SNW (and La’an actually being the only crew member to be shown mind melting with Spock until the finale).

41.   They both had important knowledge to save the day buried in their heads which was brought to light by telepathy – Spock’s memories of deciphering the signals of the Red Angel recovered with the help of the Talosians and La’an’s memories of figuring out the signals of the Gorn recovered with Spock’s help.

42.   They both have been shown connecting with a “mini” version of themselve – Spock with the genius boy from Majalis and La’an with Orianna.

43.   In the alternate future they both stepped into the footsteps of their mentors and taking on their place/fate – La’an being No.1 like Una (and even looking like her!) and Spock getting  injured like Pike.

44.   In the alternative future their character development is actually another anti parallel with both of them differentiating from their current selves – while La’an got more “human” (open and approaching), Spock got more “Vulcan” (distant and closed off).

Other important points:

45.   They both have a signature greeting – for Spock it’s the Vulcan salute and for La’an the eye swap gesture seen in the pilot (I assume the gesture’s related to La’an since M’Benga only greeted her like that and no one else).

46.   They both sang at one point (and I still hope for a karaoke duet!)

47.   The mind meld (again) and its importance in the impact on both of them by creating an emotional connection and mutual understanding for each other's loss based on the shared memories and feelings (sadly not as explicitly shown and explored on the show as it should have so far).

48.   La’an’s adamant refusal to let a shrink in her head only to let Spock enter her mind without thinking twice, showing how much she really trusts him.

49.   The huge visual differences between how the mind meld between Spock/La’an and the one between Spock/Pike were displayed – the meld of Spock/La’an appearing very intimate/ emotional (and arguably even a tint romantic) while the one with Pike’s clinic like a tool (also interesting that Spock used a different hand to perform the melds).

50.   Spock literally going down on one knee for La’an during the mind meld (which honestly gave me more goosebumps and feels than all his kissing scenes combined!)

51.   Their very flushed and sweaty state afterwards! (really, there was no reason for them to look that sweaty even with the experience being very intense!)

52.   La’an being one of few people knowing about Micheal and even more, she’s probably the only who knows the true extent of his grief (not stated on the show, but I think he hides this from T’Pring because it’s too emotional/illogical).

53.   Their similar deep gratitude for the Captain and the way they both called him “Chris” once while thanking him.

54.   They both have been shown sharing a lot of looks and sometimes even sneaking glances at each other which could indicate some level of underlying attraction (grasping at straws? I don’t care, they shouldn’t look at each other like that if they don’t want me to get ideas!)

55.   The way La’an checked Spock out and teased him when he wore shorts (and him waiting for her to check him out when he wore that apron. That was what happened, right?).

56.   La’an’s adorable annoyance of Spock’s tendency to use too many too complicated words.

58.   Their unusual attachment to pets - Spock with his old Sehlat and La’an/Thalia with Runa (I firmly believe Thalia had the puppy due to La’an being secretly very fond of cute little animals despite her pretending she doesn’t like them).
