Plain Jane: this is what you were in high school, though you didn’t really mind since there was more to being the most beautiful or the most outgoing in school. You always thought you dressed well; not the most fashionable but enough to look decent for school. You also looked fine, not too ugly or too beautiful with the round red framed glasses on your face. The lack of romantic experiences in high school sometimes bothered you but you didn’t mind it overall; you’ve seen the drama of high school romance in your classmates and ultimately decided that staying single is the best option for now… though sometimes you envied it when girls received flowers from their boyfriends or when you saw couples fill out the dance floor and slow danced during the prom. As a dramatic teen, you wailed to your pillow about how you’d never find the love of your life because you were too boring and how you’d always be the third wheel for every couple you’ll meet– hell, you were even confessed to because the boy was double-dog-dared to! You swore that you were destined to only daydream about falling in love with the man of your dreams, dancing under the rain or receiving carnival prices only scenarios that unfolded while you’re fast asleep.

Little did they know, they’d have the maker of their dreams to wake up to in the future; scenes ripped out of a romance novel were no longer bound within the confines of dreams. Leon was more than you’d asked for in the best way possible; he is more than just the beautiful combination of blond and blue, no. The first time you saw him, you thought he looked perfect, the epitome of beauty and charm. As you two got closer and he let you into his life and laid bare his scars for you, you saw that he is not a perfect man– far from it actually– yet you still loved him, maybe even more and much fiercely. You understood and listened to all his stories, accepted him for how he is, the same way he did with you.

Leon’s wedding ring momentarily flashed a bright gold as sunlight reflected from the band, his hands on the wheel as he drove you to your high school. A little nervous was an understatement for how antsy you’re feeling, though you found it stupid to feel this way since these people somewhat remember you and you’re just visiting the school– you literally went to this school for four years and managed to survive each time. Leon stopped the car at a red light, upbeat pop music playing faintly on the radio. He turned to look at you and saw you bouncing your leg, eyes focused and brows furrowed as you stared out on the road. You snapped out of the negative flurry of thoughts troubling you, jerking slightly as you felt Leon’s large hand on your shoulder.

“A penny for your thoughts,” Leon says as he sees you mentally pop back into the car with him. “You okay?”

You nod, giving him a half-smile as you place a hand on top of his that was perched on your shoulder.

“Yeah, just a little nervous,” you say. Just before you could let Leon say another word, you decide to speak up about whatever was bugging you.

“It’s a little stupid, I know. I mean– I went to school with most of these people for about 4 years and managed to do just fine. God, it’s silly of me to be nervous–”

“Hey,” Leon softly interrupts. “It’s only natural for you to be nervous about this. It’s been a long time since you’ve seen them and you’re expecting change in how they act and look and you’re not sure in what way they’ve changed.”

“Yeah that too but… you know, what if I’m like– too boring again?”

“Too boring?” Leon says in a confused yet gentle tone. “Honey, you’re not ‘too boring’ and if they think so then they can buzz off.”

Leon’s words caused some confidence to stir within you, feeling a little better about yourself. This isn’t like high school anymore. You got this! You got this!

Since the red light switched to green, Leon had to withdraw his hand from your shoulder and put it on the brake handle for the car to start moving again.

“Don’t worry, sweetheart. If someone’s bothering you, just yelp and I’ll beat them up.” Leon joked.

After a few minutes of Leon driving and hyping yourself up some more, he finally arrives at the school and pulls up into the parking lot. After a few moments of choosing the perfect spot to park, he gets out of the car first in order to open the door for you, which you thanked him for.

You two walked into the entrance and you looked around. Not a lot has changed, not even the color of the paint on the walls though you realized that they probably gave it a fresh coat since it looked much more vibrant than what your memory told you to expect. The lockers were still where they were when you still went to this school but they no longer had the scratched paint and rusting locks, along with the residue of glue from stickers that had been forcefully peeled off.

“Silverlake High School’s Silver Archers,” Leon quietly mutters to himself. “Your school’s mascot is an archer?”

“Yeah. Though we didn’t have an archery club, which I found kinda silly,” you respond.

Leon hums and continues to look at the trophy case, occasionally reading some things out loud.

“Honey look,” Leon says. “I found you!”

He points to a small picture in the case; it was you with your ratty old glasses and a silver medal around your neck, a small trophy on your hands along with some flowers. You lit up as you looked at that image, the memory clear as day; you had won second place in the inter-school extemporaneous speech competition with other neighboring high schools. You shared this fact with Leon, whose eyebrows flew to his hairline as he looked at you and then the case and back to you again, thoroughly impressed.

“I wifed up a genius,” Leon exclaims. “So you managed to win a competition where they asked the world’s most pressing questions and only gave you a minute to compose your answer in front of everybody? And you had to make sure that your answer would fit in 6 minutes? God you’re so cool.”

You giggled a little bit at that, suddenly feeling like the coolest person in this entire Earth. You thought that this win is truly a feat but these facts coming from Leon’s mouth? Your husband saying it? It was as if you were doing his job, saving the world and fighting off the stuff of nightmares with a pistol; it sounded even more impressive coming from him. Now, he was taking his phone out to take pictures of the other awards you’ve won that were displayed on the case.

“Leon, we gotta hurry. The reunion might’ve started already!”

Luckily, you two made it on time. Like magic, you were less anxious compared to earlier and managed to find the courage to even greet some of your classmates. Leon was proud that you were breaking out of your shell to greet them, really feeling it with each laugh and conversation shared with some old acquaintances.

“Oh? Who’s that? He’s hot,” your classmate asks. “Never seen him around before. I wonder if he’s single.”

You turn around to where she’s pointing, only to see that she was pointing at Leon. Your husband. Oh he sure as hell isn’t single.

“Oh him? He’s Leon. My husband,” you say. You weren’t one to get jealous but to hear your classmate call Leon ‘hot’ and wonder if he’s single triggered a reaction out of you.

She looked surprised, looking back at you and then him and back at you again like a deer in headlights.

“Wait… really? Like you’re really married?” she asked and it didn’t sound like she was ready to ask how you two met; she sounded like she wanted to know how someone like him could marry someone like you.

“Yeah, I can make a quick run to the court right now for a copy of our marriage certificate,” you half-joke in order to hide the growing feeling of hurt.

“Uh, haha…,” she mumbles. “He’s everything actually- like he’s really good eye-candy. You’re lucky he chose you, you know.”

“I’m lucky he chose me? What do you mean by that.” you say.

“What do you mean?” She asks, oblivious to the fact on how mean that sounded. Or maybe she was just playing oblivious.

“Nevermind.”

You retreat from the group walking up to Leon and watch people socialize. Before he can even ask, the emcee for the reunion calls everyone’s attention and says some words but even the volume of that loud-ass mic was not enough to drown out the doubt swirling on your mind. You’re only pulled out of your thoughts when you hear her voice again, this time talking to other people about how shocked she is that you’re married to him, out of all people. The plain Jane married to the absolute 10 she’s ever seen and how it’s a little comical to look at when there could’ve been much hotter women. You also hate how she keeps glancing back at him and giggling, not even sparing a glance at you.

“That woman cannot stop looking at me,” Leon whispers to you as he subtly motions to her.

“Her? Yeah, she called you ‘hot’ and ‘eye-candy’. She’s a little surprised to find out that you’re married to me,” you moodily mumble.

“Why is she surprised?,” he asks.

“Well, look at me and then look at you. You’re good-looking. Really good looking and I’m just here. To them, it would be more believable if you married some model or something. It’s like an ‘oh my god how did this marriage even happen’ moment.”

Leon looks at them, trained eyes staring them down for a solid few moments before turning his gaze back to you. “Well I kind of looked at me and then now I’m looking at you and I think you’re good-looking. Like really good-looking. I have a strong, intelligent, and independent person in front of me and I don’t think they need me but they still let me into their life. Yeah, I’m also having a ‘how did this marriage even happen’ moment’ because how did I get so lucky that out of all the people in this world, you fell in love with me and trusted the rest of your life and the lives after this to be spent with someone like me?”, he finishes. He’s looking at you like you’re the only thing in this world; he probably doesn’t need to look at the night sky in order to admire the stars when you have them in your eyes. The world just melted away into background noise, witness to the genuine love and loyalty Leon yields for you.

NOTE - Finally got to finish another request, a few more to go so just wait for that :)) I love being on break, can't wait for the summer break so I get to write some more (currently on a week-long break after exams, hopefully i passed with high scores on all exams!!). A/N: Life has been crazy lately but I did enjoy my social media detox, I wanted to get this out sooner but I got into a car accident on Friday and I was supposed to hang out with this girl I've been talking to today but I had no car and I look crazy but, this is here now so that's all that matters.

“Be good,” Mrs. Morales warned. 

“I will,” Miles ceded. 

She looked him in his eyes in suspicion. 

“I promise,” 

She smiled “Okay come give me a kiss,” 

He kissed and hugged his mother goodbye before putting his suitcase in the trunk. He rounded the car to your side pulling the door open

“Go on the other side,” You didn’t even look up from your phone. 

“Scoot over,” He shoved your shoulder. 

“14 hours of this?” You rolled your eyes. 

“You love me,” He teased as you slid into the other seat to make room. 

Your older brother was going on a college visit up in Florida so your mom decided to make a family trip out of it. Of course, she invited Miles seeing as he was practically family. And who was he to say no to Mrs. Y/L/N?

After only 4 stops and one-half a night at a hotel, you’d finally made it to Destin. 

Your mom parked the car in between two brick-and-mortar shops on the uneven beach town roads. 

You immediately popped the door open hoping out to stretch your legs. Your brother got stuck with the pleasure of having to “watch” you and Miles on the Harborwalk Village pier, while your parents went sightseeing. He told you not to go too far before heading off on his own. 

“Look!” You pointed at a carnival game booth run by a tired and probably only a few years older than you teenager who certainly didn’t get paid enough. There at the top of a booth hung a very large dog stuffed animal with light blue fur and a purple collar.  

You tugged Miles along with you beaming at the boy. He coughed up the 5 dollars required for the both of you to get to fill balloon clowns' heads with water guns.  

On an unenthusiastic count of 3, you aimed your gun at the first clown’s mouth and pulled the trigger. 

Powered by your competitive spirit you quickly overtook Miles in the vanquishing of the clowns. His water gun consistently jamming was cause for frustration and his loss. 

“Game was rigged,” He informed you. 

“Okay, Trump. You’re only saying that ’cause I won” You clutched your stuffed dog winnings. 

“‘M saying that cause it’s true,” 

“I’m saying that ‘cause it’s true,” You mocked him in a high-pitched voice sticking your tongue out. “What are we gonna name our son?” 

“He is not my son,” 

You gasped, shifting the dog to cover his floppy ears with both hands. “Don’t say that in front of him!” 

Completely ignoring him you turned away from Miles to cradle the stuffed animal. “I’m sorry Miles Jr. I don’t know what’s gotten into your dad today. He doesn’t mean it,” 

You handed the toy to Miles telling him to apologize. He glared at you for the name before mumbling a half-hearted sorry to the dog. 

He couldn’t believe he actually liked you enough to apologize to a stuffed animal named after him. 

“Thank you,” You smiled before spotting a sandwich shop a little way down the boardwalk. 

“C’mon Miles, Junior,” 

“Why are you making me hold this thing?” He complained, glancing around at the other passersby on the pier. 

“He is not a thing.” You readjusted Junior in Miles’s arms to be cradled like a baby. 

You continued walking down to Say Cheese situated at the end of the boardwalk occasionally glancing back to make sure Miles was still holding the stuffed animal the way you gave it to him.

“Stop!” You complained, shielding your sandwich from the onslaught of sand coming your way. 

Miles kept shoveling sand at you with both hands. “C’mon let’s go make a castle.”

“Let me eat,”

“How are you still hungry with all the snacks you ate in the car?”

“You ate all the chips,” You retaliated with a swoop of sand sent his way. “I only ate like two”

“Yeah, two whole bags,” 

“Shut up,” You reached your hand out to be pulled up from the ground. 

Back on your feet as you made the trek down shore you leaned into his side. You hissed when you stepped on a sideways seashell. 

He came to a stop jolting you back with him. 

“You alright? Was it a jellyfish?”

You drew up your face at that. “Why would there be a jellyfish all the way back here?” 

“You could’ve just said you’re fine,” 

“Okay sorry I’m fine, c’mon,” You tugged his arm with you. 

Finding a good spot between the water and shore you dropped down to form your sand castle. 

You waited until Miles joined you on the ground to scoop the viscous textured sand into your hands and stack towers of the sand on top of Miles’s. 

When you turned to find seashells to top off your pillars Miles knocked over half the castle. 

“Miles!” You shrieked pushing him down. 

He pulled you down with him, laughing at you. You couldn’t suppress your giggles as you wrestled with Miles in the sand. 

You were ready to pummel him with sand when you heard your mother call out for you. 

“Y/N! Miles! We’re leaving!”  

After racing and losing against Miles back to the rental car your mom turned you around. “Uh uh get that sand off you,” 

You rolled your eyes heading for the showers to rinse off.  

After cleansing the dusting the sand off yourself, in no time you were knocked out in the backseat of the car. 

You woke up past the sunset to a quick flash. 

You whined seeing your mother with her phone in your face from the passenger seat. 

You were entangled with Miles who was somehow still asleep. You shook him awake before getting out of the car yourself.

When you found out you’d be staying in the same room 

You jokingly complained, “He snores like he has 5 kids and works 2 jobs?”

“Be nice,” Your mother chastised. “He’s our guest,” 

“Yeah, be nice,” He teased.  

You punched him in the shoulder before lugging your suitcase out of the trunk. 

As you reached back in the trunk to grab your duffle bag, Miles grabbed the handle of your suitcase. 

“How many bags did you bring?” He questioned. 

“I can carry them, then,” You stressed. 

“No,” He grabbed your other bag. “I got it,” 

“Alright,” You slammed the trunk down before following Miles up the front steps of the AirBnB.

“Do you think-” You heard through the darkness. 

“Oh my God! No. Don’t say anything, go to sleep,” 

This wasn’t the first sleepover you had with Miles and it wouldn’t be the last, and almost every time without fail he would start spouting nonsense once the clock hit the AMs. 

“I was just gonna say what if dogs have existential crises?”

“How would I know that?” 

He shrugged despite it being only light enough for you to see his general silhouette. 

The exact moment you flipped back over to try to sleep, Miles interrupted you again. 

“Wanna watch The Road to El Dorado with me?”

Knowing you weren’t going to be able to fall asleep now, you loudly sighed before agreeing and sitting up against the headboard. 

He unplugged his phone from the bedside table resting between the beds, before getting up. 

You pulled the comforter back to give him space to climb in next to you. 

He grabbed Junior moving to put him on the floor. 

“No, don't put him on the ground,” You whined. 

“He’s staring at me,” 

You strained to lean over Miles and pick the toy back off the ground. You put the stuffed animal back on the bed so you were sandwiched between it and Miles. 

Then sidled up to Miles’s arm leaning on his shoulder. 

Not even five minutes into the movie, he felt you aggressively yawn, before burying your face in his shoulder. 

Soon your breathing evened out and when he glanced over you were asleep. 

He smiled to himself before pausing the movie at the barrel jump scene, moving so you were lying down. 

He put your phone on the charger and ensured you were tucked in before placing a kiss on your forehead. 

“Good night,” He whispered before lying down himself, ready to hang out with you more in the morning.

Today marked yours and Matt's one year anniversary and Matt told you he had a surprise for you today. He told you to be ready at 6:30, which you did just that. You were sitting on your living room couch, waiting for a text from Matt saying he was here. 

A couple minutes passed, and Matt texted you saying he was outside. You grab your purse and spritz on some vanilla perfume before walking out the door. Stepping outside, you turn and lock the door behind you, giving Matt a warm smile as you walk to the passenger side of the car. 

“Happy anniversary my love!” you say to him, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek as you get in the car. 

“Happy anniversary baby!” he says to you, placing his hand on your thigh as he drives away, leaving your house in the distance. 

“So..where are we going?” you ask him, trying to get some sort of answer or hint to where you're headed. 

“You’ll see when we get there sweetheart.” he says, flashing you a smile whilst he looks at you. You just nod your head and stare out the window, watching the sun slowly go down. You switch your gaze to Matt, admiring the way he looks while the sun hits him. 

“You’re so handsome baby.” you tell him, causing a dark shade of pink to creep against his cheeks. 

“Thank you mama.” Matt says, gently but firmly squeezing your thigh. You fix your vision on the windshield, waiting patiently to get to your destination. 

15 minutes has now passed and you've made it to the destination. You hear the gravel crunching under the car tires, your eyes widening at the sight in front of you. 

“Oh my goodness! Matt, you're taking me to the carnival!” You ask, your body filled with excitement. Matt nods his head yes with a smile stuck onto his face. Matt knew how much you loved carnivals, he took you to one on your first ever date. 

“I love you so much Matt.” you tell him, cupping your hands around his jaw and planting a kiss on his soft lips. He smiles into the kiss and plants a kiss on your forehead before getting out of the car. 

You both begin to walk towards the entrance of the carnival, hearing the laughter and screams of people who are on the rides. When you enter the premises of the carnival, the smell of popcorn and sweets fill your nose. 

Matt walks his way to the ticket booth, getting 35 tickets for you guys to get on some rides. He comes back to you wiggling the tickets in your face, causing you to go into a fit of laughter. 

You walk around, browsing through all the food and snack options for you to try. You end up stopping at the popcorn stand, getting a mix of kettle popcorn and caramel popcorn for you and Matt to share. 

Matt intertwines your hands, leading you to the line of the ferris wheel. As you make it to the front of the line, Matt passes 10 tickets to the person letting you on. You slowly and carefully make your way into the ferris wheel car, sitting directly next to Matt.

You lean your head on Matts’ shoulder, the ferris wheel slowly making its way around. Matt snakes an arm around your waist, slightly rubbing circles on your hip. The ferris wheel happens to stop at the top, you gazing at the beautiful scenery you’re surrounded by. 

“I love you so much, I hope you know that baby.” Matt says, making you look directly into his eyes. You look from his lips to his eyes repeatedly before he leans in and gives you a sweet and passionate kiss. 

“I love you too Matt, I’ll love you till the day that I die.” You say, leaning more and more into him, wanting this moment to last forever.

Carnival Daze

You and Peppino go to the carnival that's in town! Fluff and fun ensues.

Contains: Not the most "fair" way to win a game, Fluff, Toy gun use, Eating overpriced and unhealthy snacks

A cacophony of sounds filled your ears as you drew nearer to your destination. Various people could be heard laughing and chatting. In the distance you could hear screaming. 

A buttery and sweet aroma surrounded and hung in the air as you waited in line. You feel your arm being tugged -pulling you out of your daze- as Peppino motioned you forward. You offer a small smile to the woman running the booth and pull out a sizable stack of bills to trade for tickets. 

"Are we really-a going to use all of those?" Peppino quirks an eyebrow at you as you both make your way into the carnival. You shrug, "Probably. You know how overpriced these places are".

"Mio dio Y/N, you still didn't need to spend that much though".

You weave your fingers with his as you walk. "Oh stop worrying Pino, we're here to have fun". Your eyes dart over to a stand filled with kettle corn. "And eat." You add on, already walking towards the stall. 

You hand the bag of kettle corn to Peppino, who immediately tears into the bag, as you shove a ticket back into your pocket. You follow suit with your free hand. A perfect combination of salty and sweet filling your mouth. 

You wander aimlessly at first, deciding to stop if something catches your attention. You grimace as more shrieking fills your ears, albeit much louder. As your eyes dart about your surroundings you notice the tall tower to your right. 

You crane your neck to the top of the ride, the people above seated and locked in place. Without warning the seats lurched, dropping at breakneck speed. Screams filled the air with the mad descent to the ground. Then there was silence as fast as it began. 

"Nope." Peppino utters and you sense him leave your side. As you glance over you see his back to you, hurrying off and away from the drop tower. 

"Hey Pepp-"

"Nope!" He cuts you off, not even casting a glance back. You chuckle to yourself, rushing to catch up with him. You huff, "What? You don't like feeling like you're going hit the ground and turn into paste"? 

"I'ma fragile old-a man. Do you want-a me to break"? 

You gasp and poke at Peppino, before you can argue further you hear a bell. Peppino huffs in protest as you suddenly yank him along, again. As you stop in front of the booth, he tilts his head up to read the text. 

Strength test.

"You should be good at this one!" You point to the hammer, gesturing Peppino to grab it. 

"These are rigged, you know-a that, right?" Regardless he picks it up. You watch as the ball shoots half of the way upwards, Peppino gives you a smug grin.  

"Fragile and old, huh?" You tease as he sets down the hammer. Instead of leaving, an idea forms in your head, turning back to the stall.

 "Bet I can hit the bell." you grin.

Peppino scoffs at you, "If you can do that-a you can have free pizza for a month".

"With a drink"? 

"Sure. With a drink." He nods, stepping to the side to give you space. 

As you take the hammer from him, you shoot Peppino a smile, and step up to the machine. "Deal"!

You close your eyes and draw in a slow, steadying breath. In an instant your eyes snap open and you spring upwards. A sharp ding echos within the stall as your hammer taps the bell.

"Beat ya!" You cheer to yourself and clap your hands together 

Peppino's eyelids drooped, shooting you a dubious stare. "Mio dios Y/N, you cheat".

"Hey, brains over brawn!" You retort, setting the hammer down and clapping a hand onto Peppino's shoulder. 

You jump as a voice pops from behind the stall and strides out. "Congratulations! Are you our outstandingly strong man that hit the bell"? 

Before Peppino could open his mouth to reply you let out a short cheer and nodded enthusiastically. "He sure is"!

"Wonderful! Sir if you'll come with me to pick your prize"! 

Peppino snatches your wrist, dragging you with him. As you duck into the small tent a selection of various prizes line the wall with the top row indicating the grand prizes.

With a sweep of his hand, the stall owner waits for Peppino to pick. He turns to you, "What would you like cara?"

You hum thoughtfully before your eyes settle on a green and white bunny. "That one!" You point to the stuffed toy, Peppino nods at the man whom returns his nod and reaches for the toy. 

You smile as Peppino hands it to you, giving him a quick peck on the cheek. "Thank you". 

As you exit the tent you bump him with your hip. "I'll be sure to stop by every day for my free pizza"! You wink, linking your arm with his as you lead him to a new destination. Peppino grumbles something unintelligible and rolls his eyes. 

You didn't intend to hold Peppino to his deal. In fact, if he even tried to say that your pizza was free you were simply going to dump more money into his tip jar. 

When he wasn't looking anyways. 

Before you started sneaking money into the tip jar, Peppino would catch and snap at you to not do that. You just did it when he wasn't watching now. 

You catch a whiff of something indistinct, as if it's blended with others. As you note the small clearing filled with a few food stalls and benches, something savory peppered the air. A gust of wind made the flags and tents flap overhead. The smell grew stronger as you approached the furthest station. Your eyes locked onto the crispy mass being pulled from a fryer, mouth watering at the sight. As you come to a halt you turn to Peppino, "I need an onion blossom." You pause in thought, watching another mass get dunked into the grease. "Make that two". 

Peppino laughs and follows you close behind as you make a beeline to the stall. "Two onion blossoms!" You hand over the tickets and in another moment receive your snack. 

As Peppino takes one of the plates you let out a hum and opt for the closest bench. You plop down, Peppino following suit across from you. The fried mass shone in a thin sheet of oil. You grab a napkin and set it next to you before plucking a particularly juicy petal. As you pop the piece into your mouth the flavors explode your senses. With a crisp crunch, a blend of spice and pepper dance along your tongue. Peppino slowly picks at his, watching as you devour the blossom, alternating between dipping pieces in the sauce and without. 

By the time you had demolished yours, half of Peppino's still remained. His gaze met yours and smiled, pushing his plate to you. Without hesitation you grab a piece, thanking him through another bite. Peppino rests his head in his hand as he watches you with a dreamy expression. 

* * * * * 

"Of course I can, I know how to use a gun." Peppino replies, aiming at the target.

You flinch with each pop of the toy gun, the "ammo" bouncing from the bottles and into your face. The gun clicked but nothing came out. Not a single bottle had toppled over. Peppino blinked and slowly turned to you with a sheepish grin. He pursed his lips and extended his hand to your face. Peppino's thumb gently brushing at the small red spots that had formed. A small chuckle escapes your lips and you shake your head. 

"Masterful play, my liege".

Peppino squints at you, "Let'sa see you do it then". It's not like you'd be able to cheat your way through this one. 

Your only response is a grin. Peppino watches with a raised eyebrow as you hand over more tickets and return with another gun. 

A loud clink is heard, followed by another before the glass bottles topple over. You smile brightly at Peppino as his mouth hung open. "You gotta know where to hit them, like right..." Another pop followed by more glassware falling, "There"!

"Wanna try again"?

"Sure amore". Peppino rubbed the back of his neck, watching as you pick out a prize. The bottles were stacked again and he took the gun you handed him. Peppino took in a breath and steadied his hand, taking aim where you had hit previously. 

You clap as the bottles fall over. "See? Nice"! 

As Peppino returns he hands you the prize he picked out. You open the bag you had been carrying and set the keychain inside. You look up to the sky. Vibrant blue and pink hues were peaking through the clouds. At night the entire carnival would shine with neon lights below and the sunset from up there would be a marvelous view. 

"Lets go into that fun house." You nod over into the distance. "By the time we're done there, it should be dark enough to get on the ferris wheel".

You return the remaining tickets to your bag, just enough were left. As you enter into a dimly lit room you stretch out a hand to touch the wall. The dark narrow hallway had you fumbling as you round another corner. You heard Peppino sigh faintly from behind as he followed the sound of your steps. As you make your way through a door and duck down you rub your eyes at the bright light. 

"Pep...pino?" You turn around, only to be met by your own reflection. Shit. He turned down a different path. 

"Y/N?" You hear his voice nearby. "Stay there! Just let me follow your voice". You bump into another reflection that looked like a hallway.

"Oh thank fuck." You sigh in relief. "Here, let me hold your han- oh. That’s a mirror." You pat along the wall feeling for an empty gap.

"Where's the real you?!" A gasp escapes your lips as you bump directly into Peppino. "Oh there you are". 

As you both make your way out of the fun house dozens of bright lights had turned on, illuminating the park. It was as if it had transformed into a different place altogether. In the horizon the ferris wheel flashed in pink, yellows, and blues. 

Halfway towards your destination a large drop of water hit your face. Then subsequently a dozen more. 

The rain all starts to come down at once, causing you both to retreat into the nearest tent. Peppino's eyes meet yours, water beading and dropping from his face. He gives you an apologetic look as you look back outside. Ah shit. Well, there goes your plans. You let out a disappointed sigh, feeling Peppino tug you closer to his side. As you turn back to him you give a small smile. His face had slightly flushed with the sudden chill. At least you got to spend the entire day with him and had fun. There was always next time. 

You reach your hand into your bag, popping a piece of leftover kettle corn into your mouth. As you chew, you make a face. It was no longer crisp and the flavor was just a little too sweet. 

"Do you still have those tickets?" Peppino asks. You nod, pulling them out. "Yeah"?

"Wait here". Peppino takes them from you and you watch as he disappears through the huddled crowd of people. As you wait you rummage through your prizes. You look through your small hoard; three stuffed animals, a coaster with a red and black creature holding a teacup, a keychain with what looked like various pizza toppings, and another keychain of a dinosaur with a large sail on it's back. Amongst a countless knick knacks and treats. 

"Here, amore." As you look up you're greeted with a candy apple. You thank him and take the sweet. Before you can take a bite, Peppino ducked down, placing a kiss to your lips. You smile against him and sigh as he pulls away.

"When you're finished with that..." Peppino looks out towards the rain, showing no signs of slowing. "How soaked do you think we'll get by the time we get to the car"?

Rachel Carpenter has been plagued by nightmares for some time, depicting the silhouette of a mysterious individual wearing a top hat and circus outfits relentlessly haunting her. The young girl wakes up panting and sweating, convincing herself that it is just a bad dream. However, behind the window, the same man appears in the company of two children, leading them towards an unknown destination.

Me, swinging the door open, panting and sweating profusely: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I MADE IT! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABYGIRL!

As usual, written as f/o self insert but welcome to (and easily) read as x reader.

Summary: Reigen goes to a carnival with Serizawa, Mob, Ritsu and Ren (OC) for his birthday.

Happy Birthday!

"Happy birthday!" Reigen's eyes jolted open, as he sat straight up in his bed. His eyes were bleary still, as Serizawa and I jumped at him, giving him a big hug. Mob sat at the edge of the bed, uncertain. I reached out to them, and they joined in the big hug, squishing into Reigen. 

"What? How did you get in here?" he asked, his voice muffled against the collective hug that was still forced upon him. 

I leant back, as did the others, as we sat around the birthday boy on his bed. "I let them in!" I exclaimed, giving him a kiss on the cheek. 

His cheeks burned red, and he fixed me with his best glare. Serizawa looked at me with wide eyes, looking rapidly between me and Reigen and the door. I grabbed his hand. "Don't worry Seri, Reigen's just being grumpy because he doesn't like being woken up. He's really happy that we've come over to celebrate, aren't you Reigen?" It was my turn to fix him with a glare. 

"Yes. You're the pain in the ass, Ren. I'm very happy to see you, Seri," he grabbed Serizawa's other hand, "And although it's a little odd, I'm happy to see you too, Mob." Mob smiled from their perch at the end of the bed. "Although, if you don't mind, I'm going to go back to sleep." Reigen lay back down and turned away from us. 

"You know what to do," I said.

"Stacks on!" shouted Serizawa, as we all jumped onto Reigen, piling on top of him. 

"Nooo!" yelled Reigen, "fine, fine, I'm up. Now please, keep yourselves busy while I get ready for work. Because it's still a FRIDAY even if it's my birthday, so we're gonna suck it up and go." 

We did as we were told and kept ourselves busy, but there was no way we were letting him go to work. When he emerged, Serizawa gave him a big bear hug, and Mob ran behind, tying a blindfold over his eyes as I tied up his wrists. "What?" Reigen laughed, "What on earth are you guys planning?" 

"You'll just have to wait and see." 

We pushed Reigen out the door and guided him through the streets, onto the bus, and walked him to our destination. All the while, getting lots of strange looks… 

"You guys, we have to go to work." 

"No, you do not! There's no clients coming in today, we all scheduled time off for your birthday!" I explained, as we took off his blindfold and untied his hands, revealing the huge carnival ground in front of him. 

His eyes were wide and sparkling, eyebrows raised, and his mouth opened wide as he took it in. "It's the Autumn festival…" he spoke in hushed tones, "I haven't been since I was a kid… Always been too busy for one reason or another…" He turned to me, tilting his head slightly to the side, smiling a lopsided smile. "Thank you for bringing me here." 

I shrugged, and pointed to Serizawa. "Don't thank me, it was his idea." I said, squeezing Serizawa on the shoulder. Reigen looked up at Serizawa, his eyes somehow wider, and his smile brighter. Serizawa rubbed the back of his neck, smiling sheepishly. Reigen gave him a big hug and Serizawa blushed.

Reigen coughed and straightened himself up, attempting to regain composure. "Hey Mob, have you ever been to this festival before?" 

"No, Shishou," Mob shook his head, "I haven't. What's so special about it?" 

Reigen gasped. "What's so special?" he repeated, baffled. "It's the Autumn festival! There's rides, prizes, and lots of junk food!" He slapped Mob on the back, excitedly, then gestured at the fairgrounds. "This place, is the place where you will find true happiness and make the best memories of your life!" He said with his typical bravado. I rolled my eyes, but Mob and Serizawa looked excited. 

"Hey, Ritsu!" Mob yelled out to his younger brother approaching. 

"Ah, Ritsu, you're here too!" Reigen said, excitedly, grasping Ritsu's shoulder. 

Ritsu shrugged. "Happy Birthday," he said. 

Reigen sighed at Ritsu's disinterest but quickly regained composure. He grabbed Serizawa and I by the wrists, and started pulling us into the fair ground. "To the tea cup ride!" 

Serizawa went pale. "The… tea cup ride?" 

Reigen laughed and continued pushing us forward. "You'll be fine! I hate rides, but this ones the best!" Mob and Ritsu trailed behind, as Reigen ran ahead, pointing out everything that's changed since he was here last, simultaneously acting like a little kid and an old man at the same time. 

After a tedious wait, which Reigen said has always been the case, we got on the ride. Serizawa was pale as a sheet, and he held onto my hand and Reigen's hand so tight I thought he was going to break it. "Hey, you know you don't have to do this, right?" Reigen said to him. 

Serizawa nodded, but his eyebrows furrowed and he clenched down his jaw, and stepped onto the cup first. 

We all sat down. Ritsu looked completely unphased. I did invite him but he's mostly here for Mob. Mob looked a little nervous, but Serizawa, despite his momentary determination, was sweating bullets. Reigen's hands seemed to have more of a mind of their own then usual, flying everywhere, as he talked with a huge grin on his face about the ride. 

Once the ride started, though, Serizawa was so close to breaking my hand. Reigen finally stopped waving his hands and instead, he furrowed his eyebrows and closed his eyes tight until the end of the ride. He fell onto Serizawa's shoulder as soon as we stopped moving. 

I nudged him. "Are you alright?"

He groaned. "No." 

Serizawa, on the other hand, was smiling widely. "I did it! I went on a ride! And it was… sort of fun!" 

I laughed. Mob and Ritsu were talking amongst themselves. "I'm glad you enjoyed yourself! I'm also glad you didn't break my hand!" Serizawa smiled sheepishly. He turned and seemingly just noticed Reigen, half passed out on his shoulder. His expression immediately filled with concern. 

I nudged Reigen again. "Come on babygirl, stop being a wuss," I said. 

"No," he pushed his head further into Serizawa. 

People were filing off the ride, so Serizawa simply picked Reigen up, and we walked off the ride with Serizawa carrying Reigen bridal style down the steps. Once we were out of the way of people, Serizawa put him down, and Reigen's face lit up again. "That was fantastic! Let's go again!" 

I laughed at him, Mob and Serizawa looked at him concerned and Ritsu just rolled his eyes. "I don't know, Shishou, you look pretty out of it," Mob commented. 

"Nonsense!" Reigen exclaimed, waving his hands and patting Mob on the back. "I'm perfectly fine!" 

"Really?" I asked. Reigen nodded. "Well, if your that confident, why go on the boring teacup ride again? Why don't we go on that?" I asked, pointing to a roller coaster at the edge of the fairground. Reigen followed to see where I was pointing. As he saw the massive height of the roller coaster, the upside down parts, the corkscrew, and heard the distant screams of the people on the ride, his face turned ashen. "Are you still feeling perfectly fine?" 

Reigen glared at me momentarily before straightening up and smiling broadly. He gestured towards the roller coaster. "Yep! Let's go! Come on, you guys!" He walked forward, but stopped abruptly when he noticed no one was following him. "Aren't you guys coming?" 

"Um, no thanks," Serizawa said, "that's beyond my limits for today, sorry." 

Reigen rolled his eyes. "Mob?"

"No." 

"Ritsu?" 

"No way. Unlike you, I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm scared of that." 

Reigen scoffed, attempting to regain control of the situation. "I'm not scared!" 

"The amount your sweating would say otherwise," I said, "don't worry babygirl, I'll hold your hand." I walked up to him and grabbed his hand as we walked forward. 

He swatted my hand away. "I'm not a child! I don't need you to hold my hand!" I glanced at him out of the corner of my eye. He was blushing and staring fiercely at the ground. Despite my ultimate goal of embarrassing him, I started to blush too - he was just too damn cute when he was feisty. "I, Reigen Arataka, am the greatest psychic of the 21st century, I don't need to prove anything. I'm not scared." 

"Actually, never mind, you probably aren't tall enough to ride," I said, stifling a fit of giggles. 

Reigen somehow blushed even more. He really started to lose composure, as he stamped his foot down in anger, and turned to me. His hair was matted down onto his forehead from sweat. "For the last time, we're AT LEAST the same height," he said through gritted teeth. 

I grabbed him by the shoulders, and turned him to face me, stepping in closer so that our foreheads meet. It was close, but I was definitely looking down at him slightly. "For the last time, we're really not."

Reigen stared, then turned on his heels and walked away with his fists balled up tightly. "I don't need you!" he shouted, over his shoulder. "I'm going on the roller coaster ride on my own because I'm the GREATEST psychic of the god damn 21st century and I AM taller than you." 

I had never seen him so mad. I bent over in a fit of laughter for a moment, before running after him, and tackling him in a big hug. "Come on, babygirl, you're alright. If you actually don't want to, we're out of sight from the others, no one will know." 

Reigen refused to make eye contact. "I'm not scared." 

"I know," I didn't believe him, but it was his birthday. Best to be nice. "You're my brave boy. But you still don't have to go on the rollercoaster, if you don't want to." 

"I'm not a child," he growled, "stop coddling me." 

"Aww, but you're my babygirl. You know you like it." I gave him a bunch of kisses on his cheeks, and he sighed. 

"Okay, fine," Reigen said, "but we're going on that roller coaster. I'm not scared." 

I threw my hands up in mock surrender. "Alright, whatever you say birthday boy." 

We approached the roller coaster and waited in line for a while. Reigen really was determined to keep a brave face, but he was definitely sweating more than usual, and became increasingly rambly as we approached the front of the line. When we got on the ride, and people were getting strapped in, his facade finally fell away. 

"Ren," his voice was trembling, "Ren, I can't do this. I can't." 

Damn you Reigen and your inability to back down from a challenge. "Yes, you can." I squeezed his hand tight. "Your my brave, amazing babygirl and you can do literally anything you set your mind to. It will be over in a moment. I believe in you." 

I could feel his hand shaking in mine, but he looked at me and nodded. I gave him a kiss, and the ride took off. He gave out a scream of surprise, and the next time I looked over at him, it looked as if he had passed out, which was concerning to say the least. But I was right, the ride lasted only moments, and when we stopped Reigen turned to me. He looked absolutely stunned, he blinked several times, and just got up off the ride and walked silently through the exit. Mob, Ritsu and Serizawa were waiting for us with big bundles of food and prizes. 

"How was it?" Serizawa asked.

Reigen stood there for a moment, went to open his mouth to speak, and then threw up.

Reigen and I sat down together under a tree after that. Serizawa went and bought us some food, and Reigen slowly regained composure after a while. 

We wandered around the fairgrounds a bit, playing games and eating junk food. No more rides. Reigen kept talking about how lovely it was, and talking about how things used to be when he used to come. How lovely it was to come here again, with all of us. Eventually, the sun started to set, and after stocking up on food, we walked Ritsu and Mob home. 

"I hope you had a great day, Shishou," Mob said. Reigen ruffled his hair. 

"Thanks Mob, I sure did. Thanks for coming, and also thanks to Ritsu." 

"It was worth it to see you throw up, Reigen," Ritsu said. 

"Glad to hear it," said Reigen, "See you all in the office soon." 

We waved goodbye as Reigen, Serizawa and I walked to the nearby park for our picnic dinner. After eating significantly more junk food then we probably should have, we lay down in the grass. The night sky was dark and the stars were fully out. 

As we lay there, Reigen reached out and grabbed mine and Serizawa's hands in his own. 

"I had an amazing day. I can't remember the last time I even celebrated my birthday, let alone do something this fun. I love you both, so much." 

Serizawa and I leant into Reigen, and each gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"I love you both, too," said Serizawa, "you're both… amazing." 

I smiled. "You guys, you're so corny. But I love you both as well." 

We lay, looking at the stars, holding each other until it got too cold. Then we went home, and Serizawa stayed over, so we all snuggled in bed. Pretty damn good day. Even with the vomiting…

I love getting lost in the clouds

I lose myself in the quiet times in between life’s destinations.

As I drive from here to there, I smile at the humid kisses the sky peppers on the land.

I want to be a part of every moment I have and live thoroughly where I am.

I am grateful for the people in my life I can share moments with, especially my daughter.

I point out the fragile wisps of vapor living highest in the atmosphere. She calls them icy ghosts and watches them slip in and out of the thin air.

It’s hard to tell how far away clouds are without a weather balloon. Being human sized we are limited in judging distances in the sky.

The next highest ones stretch from horizon to horizon.

A blanket of icy moisture on the troposphere extending in wavy rows as far as we can see.

It reminds me of my windshield in the morning but instead the condensation is on the globe.

She calls them blanket clouds.

There are other clouds, but our favorite are the low ones.

They have flat bottoms and billowing tops.

They look like fuzzy probability manifolds.

We stare at the wet clusters long enough until we see ourselves in them.

They become a flight of dragons, a fleet of ships and a soft of teddy bears gliding in the sunlight.

She calls them ice cream clouds.

As the day gives way to late afternoon the armada shifts to gray. The crisp white carnival candy turns to silver soggy cotton.

Finally, the sun sets, and the sky lets loose with color.

The brilliant red-orange swirl flattens out, pointing at the sun as she slips beyond the horizon.

A grand solar system size ballet continues at a snail’s pace until night falls.

The Earth continues to pirouette around her star, another cycle complete of billions.

Holding the moon in her gravity’s embrace she hurtles wildly thought space along her giddy path.

She is indifferent to our human scale of time.

One day I will be dead. This dance will continue without me. With respect to those who disagree, I believe anything beyond an end is wishful thinking.

Feeling the chill of that eventual nothingness, I take a small breath of solace looking at my daughter.

Perhaps she will continue to enjoy and improve the thoughts I have savored when I am gone.

It’s not a grand hallelujah kind of solace, but it’s something.
