been introducing a friend to Leverage recently, and something that caught my ear when rewatching the S1 finale episodes: during the rooftop scene in the First David Job, at the exact moment that Sophie admits she's been manipulating the team for her own aims, they play the little 'reveal of a rival mastermind' leitmotif (the one that's often used for Sterling, but off the top of my head also shows up for the opponents in the Tap-Out Job, Juror #6 Job, and Low Low Price job). genuinely not sure how I missed it the first time through - or if I just ignored it because I didn't have the full context for its significance- but either way it's a really cool musical beat that cements the caught-off-guard feeling of betrayal they've been building to. top-notch work, love me a good leitmotif

#not dm #leverage #big fan of thematically consistent use of musical/visual symbolism. leverage is great about that #except maybe with the camera carousel. that one gets old sometimes #still fun though #rourke og #text post #ramblings
