least favorite thing about her: the fact that she joined the team when the show was already starting to go downhill in terms of writing quality and storylines, so we didn't get to see her during some of the best CM episodes and arcs.

unpopular opinion: Her wig in seasons 12-13 was actually really cute. It wasn't as good as her hair in 14-15 or in Evolution, but it was a good look for her, and it framed her face really nicely.

unpopular opinion: Most of the fandom simply doesn't deserve her. Outside of our little circle of Emily stans, fanon interpretations of Emily are almost always OOC and usually rooted in misogyny.

Who is Dilandau Albatou in my Escaflowne fanfics? In my stories, I take a closer look at this fascinating character through the lens of the “three faces” proverb. In the original anime and other official media, we only see a narrow view of Dilandau in combat situations and hanging out with their Dragonslayers or Folken. 

(Please note that Dilandau is an intersex person with a transmasculine but non-binary gender identity in my fanfics. I use they/them pronouns here.)

My impression of Dilandau is somewhat different from most other fans’ interpretation. Mine is more “troubled teen” that just “crazy psycho pyro”. I see them as a queer youth with poor emotional regulation who was raised with few healthy boundaries and doesn’t understand the real implications of war until their comrades are massacred. 

In my fanfics, Dilandau has developed a professional face to show in public and at military events. They are a lot like Lady Oscar from the anime Rose of Versailles (based on the manga by Riyoko Ikeda) in this role, seeming like an elegant and untouchable figure of the perfect soldier. I doubt they could have earned such a high military rank if they didn’t know how to act professionally in the appropriate circumstances! For example, Dilandau acts quite dignified and self controlled when they meet Allen at the fortress.

In social situations and with “family”, Dilandau is hot tempered, bratty, impulsive, and has a lot of mood swings but at the same time is kinda charming and entertaining in their own way. They act like the boss even if they really aren’t in control of their life, which exudes an aura of authority and power. The other lads are in awe of Dilandau, but I see Dilandau and Gatti having a more equal “frenemy” dynamic. I see Folken as a parental authority figure to Dilandau, and that they’re always trying to antagonise Folken to see how much boundary-pushing he will take. 

That brings us to the private, intimate face that only Dilandau’s lovers see. Please note that they don’t have any romantic relationships in the official story, so this is my “fanon” not canon. This side is one that craves sexual pleasure, attention, connection, and love. However, those appetites would make Dilandau look weak so they keep all this hidden away. In my stories, when Miguel gets to know his Captain on this personal level he discovers a sensual creature overflowing with passion and vulnerability. This side of Dilandau is a lot like the uninhibited Gilbert Cocteau from the controversial manga Kaze to Ki no Uta by Keiko Takemiya. Unlocking this side caused Dilandau more instability in my stories, but it may be the start of an important evolution of their identity...

The series where Koushiro is checking Mimi out 24x7 like an object, he calls her egotistical/self centered for acting impulsively to save a friend - using the same wording that the mean girls in festival committee use (bully alert 🚨, he doesn't even apologise for doing that btw 🚩), only then shows up to stare at her in a cheerleader uniform, ignores all the concern that she shows for him despite him being rude to her and Meiko both and ends up having way more chemistry with Takeru throughout the series (KouKeru my beloveds 😍).

But it's important to mention the guy who does take a W for Mimi in Tri, JOU KIDO!!! He accepts Mimi for who she is, doesn't criticise her actions, understands that her aggressive love is filled with nothing but pure intentions, uplifts her mood when she needs it the most and showers her words of affirmation that eventually lead to Palmon's mega evolution. And for that he deserves a big squishy hug, which he gets from Mimi 🥰 Honourable mention for taking W's for Mimi in Tri will also go to Meiko, she becomes her ride or die in such a short time of knowing her because she sees Mimi for the kind soul that she is. She also deserves a hug, and she gets it from Mimi too 🥰

In Tri we also see Mimi refer to Taichi and Yamato as handsome (and she does ask Koushiro if he's interested in her cause she's cuter, man for someone with a lot of brains he sure does care only about her looks!🚩) She starts recording TaiYama the minute they get into that Ferris wheel, she and Taichi walk a lot of places together don't they, she and Meiko share a meal with Taichi and Yamato in the Odaiba Onsen must I go on ~ Please do a full rewatch to see how Koushiro proves he's not a good match for Mimi in Tri with his ficklemindedness~

Hi, this is another ask I really wanted to answer but I kept storing it for whatever reason. I'm deleting old asks but I think I'll be answering a few, this is one of these few.

So, Kurt's parents in X-Men: Evolution are the best. They never hid him, they loved him to death and encouraged him to love himself, they didn't hesitate sending him to Bayville though, cause they knew that would help him best and his family was healthy and functional.

Unlike 616, Evo Kurt had great parents that really supported him and wanted the best for him.

Fanon asides, I know there is a headacanon around that says Margali was a great mother to Kurt but I differ, I think she loved him and raised him the best she could however, not in the same way Evo Kurt's parents would. This might be an unpopular opinion but, Margali wasn't the best mother... She was the lesser of two evils.

I really cherish Evo Kurt's parents and sometimes, I'm tempted to write a verse that's a mix between evo and 616 just to indulge with Kurt having great parents and introduce them to their grand daughter Talia <3 -sighs happily-

TMA thoughts!

Been trying to find a post I can reblog to say I finished TMA, but I didn't just want to ramble in someone else's tags, so. I finished TMA! I enjoyed it! I think it's one that I'm going to appreciate more after sitting with it for a while, and probably some re-listening - there are definitely characters (and to some extent, plot lines) I sort of lost track of over the course of the show, and it came back to bite me when they all showed up in season 5.

Also ngl, even after 200 episodes there are some characters whose voices I really struggle to tell apart. Usually I could get it through context, and I did get better over time, but it probably caused me some lasting confusion from the earlier seasons. (Jon and Elias sounded nearly identical to me for most of the show, and Basira, Daisy, and Melanie had some weird overlap for me. So scenes where like Basira was being particularly aggressive she sometimes sounded like Daisy, or if Melanie was more subdued she sounded like Basira... stuff like that.)

Honestly one of the things I've been enjoying most is the Q&As and retrospectives and behind the scenes stuff - Alex and Jonny do a really good job of explaining the reasons they constructed the show the way that they did, they have great insights on horror as a genre, and I think they really nailed their relationship to fandom as creators. Obviously I wasn't around when the fandom was huge, but I really respect their stance of engaging, answering questions, etc. but keeping canon decisions away from fanon while recognizing that they don't have any control over where the fandom ultimately ends up with the text. Also I loooove hearing Alex and Elizabeth and the other editors talk about soundscaping and Foley - I took a few sound design classes in college and it's definitely a latent interest of mine.

But anyway! I don't want to seem down on the show, I really did enjoy it (I blew through five seasons in like 2 weeks lmao)! Some general thoughts:

I relate to Martin to a probably worrying degree, but. I simply Love Him. (Commencing blorbo in 3...2...)

Predictably, I loved everything Jon/Martin. Unrequited pining to mutual pining? Yearning while gay? Canon ace character? (Sort of) enemies to friends to lovers? Sign me the fuck up

I really really loved season 5 and the finale in particular! Tbf they are the freshest in my head at this point, but I thought it was all a really smart evolution of the show's format, and it was just deliciously tragic and angsty the whole way through without being too depressing.

All of the characters are interesting but I thought Melanie was a really fascinating kind of character - someone who is "good" and on the same side as the protagonists, with many of the same goals, but absolutely hates the main character and almost every decision he makes. It's rare to see that played seriously rather than comic relief, and I thought it added really interesting character aspects to both her and Jon as they constantly end up facing off against each other. (And tbf the more comic bits near the beginning of Melanie's arc were extremely funny as well.)

Maybe this is a silly thing to add after listening to 200 episodes of a horror podcast, but I enjoyed the horror aspects a lot! I've been slowly easing my way into horror as a genre for a long time (because I'm a big baby), and a podcast was a nice medium somewhere between horror books (which I broadly enjoy) and horror movies (which I'm very picky about). I think the framing of listening to the tapes helped keep a level of separation, so the more intense stuff wasn't quite as visceral, but there were still plenty of moments that gave me good chills and statements/images that stick in my mind.

My Oriented Aroace Headcanons From 8 Fandoms

Oriented Aroace is an aspec identity where someone does not experience sexual or romantic attraction but experience other forms of attraction in a way that causes another nonaspec label describing sexuality to feel significant enough to have a place alongside one’s aroace identity. For more information on this term, here is the info page on the oriented aroace subreddit and here is the wiki page on it.

Headcanon is a subbranch of fanon, meaning headcanon is something generally not accepted as canon but some fans choose to believe about the original content. In the queer community, it is common to headcanon characters as queer. Sometimes it’s with good reason, sometimes it’s just because we like the characters, sometimes it’s because we see something of ourselves within the characters. 

Here are some of my oriented aroace headcanons.

1. Sai (Naruto)

This is by far my favorite aroace headcanon but I don’t talk about it much because I don’t want to support the stereotype that aromantics are heartless or that asexuals are traumatized. In Naruto Shippuden, Sai is a character who does not experience emotions after an illegal black ops organization killed his brother and brain washed him. He does, however, recover his emotions and learns to be very in touch with them. In Boruto, he is married to Ino and has a son named Inojin.

I headcanon Sai as pan-oriented aroace, possibly demialterous as well, but he experiences some degree of internalized homophobia and aphobia which leads him to pursue a romantic relationship with Ino. I don’t doubt that he loves her, he definitely does but I don’t think he loves her in the same way that she loves him. I wrote about this for Aromantic Writing Month. I believe that Sai initially started courting Ino because that was what was expected of him. Ino went along with it because she is attracted to him. At some point she probably realized Sai doesn’t quite feel the same way as her but they talked about it and continued their relationship as a allo-aspec qpr.

2. Rook Blonko (Ben 10) 

Rook Blonko is Ben’s (work) partner in Ben 10: Omniverse. He is an alien from the planet Revonnah. When we see his homeplanet, we learn that he is very attractive by Revonnahgander and all the local girls are interested in him but he is bothered by it, only showing affection for one girl named Rayona. They end up dating later in the series. A couple villains show interest in Rook as well and he is usually bothered by it or has mixed feelings with no desire for reciprocation. 

I headcanon him as hetero-angled aroace, specifically gray/ frayromantic and acespike. Gray romanticism means that someone is aromantic but can experience some kind of limited romantic attraction or experiences romantic attraction under specific circumstances. Frayromantic is essentially the opposite of demiromantic. Someone may experience romantic attraction that fades as they get to know the other person. Acespike means that someone is asexual but can sometimes experience spikes of sexual attraction. 

If you have seen the show, you may know where my thoughts are coming from. Rook mostly shows romantic interest in Rayona before they start dating. Once they’re in a relationship, their feelings seem very platonic and their relationship is much like a qpr. This may be because of their age, lack of experience, or their culture but I’d like to imagine that Rayona feels the same way as Rook and they are in a qpr.

The only other character Rook has shown interest in is Isosceles Vreedle. He is briefly attracted her during a battle but doesn’t seem to have any intent on acting on his feelings (presumably because he is in a relationship). He seems to be aware that this is out of character for him, which leads me to believe that he is acespike. 

3. Alain (Pokémon)

Alain is the star of the Mega Evolution specials and Ash’s main rival in the Kalos League. I headcanon him as gay-oriented aroace.

I don’t have much of a reason for this. Headcanons don’t necessarily need reasons but I’m still going to try to explain this one.

He never has any romantic interests in the show, probably because we don’t see much of him and his story is very focused on his Pokémon training. There are many characters who are solely focused on Pokemon training and that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re aroace but with Alain, I can’t really see him ever wanting to settle down or pursue a relationship though and he doesn’t seem like a women’s man. 

His perfect life is retiring young from a decent battle career on a Pokemon ranch where he works as a Pokemon professor, giving out starter pokemon and providing a place for trainers to send their pokemon when their parties are full. He won’t have many visitors but maybe he’ll have a close companion to keep him company and help out with any projects he’s working on.

4. Toph (Avatar: The Last Airbender/ The Legend Of Korra)

Toph is Aang’s earthbending teacher in ATLA, the founder of metalbending in the comics, and Lin and Suyin’s mother in TLOK. I headcanon her as sapphic or trixic-oriented aroace.

Sapphic and trixic are both non-exclusive terms for attraction to women but sapphic is specifically for women and trixic is for non-binary people. Canonically, Toph is a girl but she is very free spirited and independent and I feel like she wouldn’t let something like gender limit her.

In TLOK, Toph does mention that she tried to have relationships with Lin and Suyin’s fathers but it didn’t really work out. I imagine that Toph is sex favorable and likes sex as kind of a fun way to enjoy herself but does not experience sexual attraction nor does she feel a need to have regular partners. Similar goes for romance. She is romance-indifferent but does not like it much.

The lesbian Toph headcanon is a popular one. Not really sure why but Toph seems like a ladies’ woman. She likes to have her fun and she just finds women to be better companions than men in these aspects. She doesn’t get attatched easily though and she’s not really into the commitment. 

5. Korvo (Solar Opposites)

Again, I feel like this plays into a stereotype that I don’t want to support but these are my headcanons and I will do with them as I want. Korvo is an alien who is having a hard time adjusting to living on Earth. We know that his species has no biological sex and do not reproduce sexually but many of them choose genders, enjoy sexual activity, and pursue romantic relationships. I headcanon Korvo as bi-oriented aroace, possibly bi-electio aroace.

I have not seen the most recent season but in season 1, Korvo is mostly uninterested in anything outside of returning the ship. We have seen him in real no romantic contexts but he and Terry are co-parents of sorts. We also see him in a couple of sexual contexts. When he got zapped by a ray that removed his intelligence, he tried humping Terry and when he and Terry tried going to college, he remained on his side of his and Terry’s shared bed when Terry brought home sexual partners.

I don’t think Terry and Korvo are in a relationship or a qpr but am not completely opposed to the idea. My point was just that we know he isn’t repulsed by the idea of doing traditionally romantic or sexual things with someone who is masculine in nature. I think he could also appreciate what a woman brings to the table, as seen when he built a robot to fulfill the role of wife and mother in the house.

I don’t think Korvo is interested in a relationship but he does value the companionship and wouldn’t be unhappy with a partner. He may struggle to maintain a partnership but I don’t think gender would be much of a factor.

6. Todd Chavez (BoJack Horseman)

Todd is BoJack’s off-and-on best friend/ roommate. Canonically, he is asexual and heteroromantic (presumably, all we know for sure is that he is alloromantic). I headcanon him as straight-oriented aroace, specifically heteroqueerpatonic and panplatonic.

I love that Todd is canonically asexual and I appreciate that they showed an asexual character who is not aromantic. But, all of Todd’s relationships have that queerplatonic vibe. When he described the kind of relationship he wanted with Emily, it didn’t sound like a romantic relationship. What he had with Yolanda certainly wasn’t romantic. Maybe it was just the writing but Todd seemed most happy when his relationship resembled a qpr. When he was dating Maude, the lines between romance and friendship were blurry and they seemed very happy, and that included not doing traditionally romantic things like getting married.

I could also see Todd as greyromantic. For him, I feel like having a label isn’t really that big of a deal. Being able to say he was asexual was a big deal for him but he just wants to be himself and find whatever makes him happy. Sex and a traditional romantic relationship don’t really seem to be a part of that.

7. Silver Surfer (Marvel Comics)

Again, this isn’t one I talk about much because I don’t want to support the stereotype that aromantics or asexuals are inhuman or lacking emotion. Before becoming the Silver Surfer, Norrin Radd is in a relationship on his home planet and he does express interest in a few women after becoming the Silver Surfer. I headcanon him as straight-oriented aroace.

Some of it may have to do with Galactus’s interference. Maybe not. The Surfer doesn’t need sex or romance (no one does but you catch my drift) but he doesn’t really want it either. Sometimes it is portrayed from a sense of duty but we don’t really know what he’s feeling. He’s been one of my favorite characters for years so I may just be projecting but it feels right.

He can get lonely. He wants a companion but I don’t think he’d want a romantic one or even a queerplatonic partner. He’d be most happy with a friend and he’d get all the fulfillment he needs from one. A romantic partner might be a bit too much.

8. Gina Linetti (Brooklyn 99)

Gina is Jake’s childhood friend, Captain Holt’s assistant, and Boyle’s... something. I’ve seen a lot of headcanons that she is pansexual but I headcanon her as heteroflexible-oriented aroace.

Gina, like Toph, is just kind of doing her own thing. I feel like she’d be sex favorable and romance indifferent. Sex is fun, relationships are alright, she’s just living her best life. Men are nice, women are too. She’s just living life and rocking with whatever rolls her way.

When she has her daughter, she does want to settle down a bit but not with a man. She loves the kid and steps up to her new responsibility but she doesn’t let it change her. She’s still as wild and free and she doesn’t want or need anyone.

I'm glad that his role in the season isn't just being the guide angel to lola like people wanted to, the guy who's there to give her advice and wisdom because hmmm he completed his pokemon evolution already on season 3 so he can't show any flaws anymore ??? I guess? I would love to see him helping her sure!!!! but it's ok if he have issues as well.

and no, the fact that they're dating for 1 year already doesn't mean they should have all figured all now. I feel like often the biggest challenges for relationships first happens in the 1 year and a half mark (lots of break ups in this mark) it's also very common that relationships suffers from the same issues times and times again? people are saying they should have a different problem because it's not realistic to have the same again lmao that's not true you know ? it happens a lot that the problems you already had in the beginning of the relationship ends up being the cause of break up years later... it's great when two people are able to solve the issues and grow together, but it's not easy at all and a lot of times they can't.

I think that this is something we're gonna see in a way (I believe the writers said eliott and daphne will have some arc this season ). If Eliott and Lucas will be able to grow together or no. In their case its even more complex because Eliott's MI (as much as the fandom loves to romanticize) can complicate things. but the fact that they're doing this instead of just showing them being adorable makes me real happy.

I love skam españa for this reason too, they show crisana having issues in their relationship and some people got mad because they want perfection. oh, the evak from xx remake would never have this problems because they're perfect angels ? damn that sucks :/

Since I Feel Better, I Want To Talk About Undertale/Deltarune Theories

 okay I decided to post one more post up,

I have this crazy theory about Flowey and Ralsei,

being two parts of the Original Late Prince Asriel,

not to be confused with the one that we haven’t seen that lived in Deltarune.

but yeah I believe that having Asriel’s memories from the dust,

Flowey would be the part of the original Prince that remembers, but might not have all the memories, as he could suffer from amnesia.

I believe that Ralsei makes up the Soul part, and is a creation of The Knight.

or Gaster, we all love the adorkable goofball Dadster & Broster

(and I like the idea of those two versions of Gaster being father & son, aka Wingdings Gaster Sr. & Jr.)

 but if the theory is true, and Gaster brought Asriel’s back to life,

and kind of made him be reborn in the dark world...which is maybe underground of Deltarune....?

then wouldn’t that make Gaster technically Ralsei’s Dad?

I mean I think with some monsters a type of red eyes can be normal.

is that Kris’s Mom Toriel, is the REAL Queen Toriel from Undertale.

her eyes are never red, even when she gets annoyed.

and I get that other characters that the Player/Frisk fights in Undertale,

their eyes glow too, but Asgore’s eyes NEVER glowed red.

their eyes will glow during a Geno Route.

if we keep trying to leave and she ends up becoming mad.

even if I did spare everyone BUT Toriel in Undertale,

I ended up not being able to befriend Undyne.

so yeah even if you do spare everyone in the ruins and even outside it,

and even befriend all of them and even Papyrus,

Undyne will just know you took out someone in that game.

even if the only one you gave a Bad Time, was Toriel.

plus even after beating Asgore, I did show him Mercy in the end.

but Flowey ends up taking that mercy I gave him away.

Asgore is a big Fluffy Sweetie Pie, in both Undertale and the Deltarune.

anyway I believe that the Toriel we know from Undertale,

is really a clone of Asgore, that was made to appear like his wife that took off after the death of their children.

(and she in theory, ran away to Deltarune.)

also I’m kind of hoping that the whole Steven Universe and Sans being one and the same, does get confirmed to be true, I know I had watched a video

where someone said that I think it was Rebecca Sugar,

that when White, Blue, and Yellow shot that light of corruption.

they not only corrupted the gems (well all but Rose, Garnet, Pearl, and those that were bubbled or trapped in a mirror.)

but it caused half of the humans on that planet, to be “corrupted” too.

but it could be seen as a magical evolution.

so that would mean that all the monsters who were forced into the underground, are all descendants of the first humans that were hit by the corruption light by White, Blue and Yellow Diamond.

and the reason why they don’t have a physical forms, and their bodies are made up of mostly magic, is because those who were the first to get hit by those three diamond’s corrupted light, had in deed hit their physical forms.

but any offspring they had later on after the change, would not hold a physical form and would be made up of mostly magic.

so even if by using the same method to heal the corrupted gems,

it will not necessary make them “human”,

in theory it will give the descendants of those humans who were turned into monsters by the diamonds, some physical bodies that can still have magic,

and if they ended up being cut, they can bleed.

they will stay the same when they were born, but the only difference is that they have the same physical body as their distant human cousins who escape the blast from the diamonds.

but it could be magical soul conciseness physical manifestation of light.

they might still be very in tuned with their souls,

and I know that theory is really crazy.

but it is most like a Crossover Theory, that has to do if it is confirmed by the games and show’s creators, about Sans and Steven being one and the same.

there are already Crossover AUs of that theory.

now back to the whole Toriel....

even if we can still trust her Fanon Counterparts.

she might have a split personality,

one that is trying to fulfill capturing humans and using them to free everyone.

 plus the way she asks Frisk to not come back, or the whole if we say we have other places to go, she is like see you around.

there has to be a hidden meaning behind that.

like she knows about the Resets but at the same time,

Gaster programmed her to not know about them at the same time.

and here is a theory, the more we do a pacifist route,

as well as befriending everyone.

the more likely the dark personality that was programmed into her by Gaster,

has less control.

and if we should decide not to let Frisk go and live with her,

the dark personality will take over once again.

I guess that theory is a bit insane, but I believe she is hiding something.

how do we know that after replacing the original Toriel, who left that universe to go live in the Delta Universe....

didn’t take Chara’s body not just to give it a proper burial,

but she might of known that the determination that was created by Gaster as first, would infected someone like Frisk.

plus if two parts of Asriel could end up going to a Flower like Flowey

and the other being reborn as Ralsei.

then it might be possible that Chara was cleaved into some parts too.

the true them being used to power the generator in the true lab.

and the other that has Toriel take Chara’s body to the ruins.

but no one has to agree about these theories.

but I hope some like the the theories about the monsters

being descendants of humans who were changed

by White, Blue and Yellow Diamond.

Binge Watch: Teen Wolf (Spoilers)

I haven’t completed this yet, but I have...opinions.

I’ve seen some TW on my dash, some of it spoilery and some of it...shall we say...pure headcanon. I decided to watch TW before I go too spoiled and to separate the canon from the fanon. After watching a few seasons here are some of my thoughts

I had a hard time with the horror music (aka screaming violins) of the first season. I get that they wanted to be more horror than sci-fi, but jeez! It was like playing Dead Space! Jump scares, foreboding silences at expectant moments that often times didn’t pan out — Despite liking the characters I wasn’t sure I was down for season 2. Thankfully, in season 2 the musical score became more cinematic and epic, carrying themes throughout, rather than just going for the cheap emotional reaction in the moment.

This show has a bad habit of writing out a character just as they get more interesting. Prime example: Derek Hale. He spends an entire season losing his abilities only to find in the finale that he’s actually evolving into a more powerful wolf. Cut to end credits. The next season Derek is gone with little to no explanation. What does this evolution mean? Is it only available to born-wolves? Can Scott evolve too? What caused it? We spent the entire previous season believing that Kate did something to cause him to lose his powers, but that no longer appears to be the case. Oh! You wanted answers to these questions? How sad for you! Moving on. On this topic see also: Jackson Whittemore, Cora Hale, Allison Argent, Isaac Lahey, Deucalion, Kira Yukimira, Morin Morrell, Alan Deaton. Some characters are written out because their character arc reaches completion. This is not true for any of the above, IMO.

This one burns me up a bit. Question; why is Melissa McCall a nurse and not a doctor? Answer: because she’s a woman. I mean, why does Noah Stilinski get to be the Sheriff and not just a deputy? Because single dads get to be the boss while single moms have to be worker bees. Everyday sexism right there on a “woke” tv show. I say the plots would have been better served if she had just been the Beacon Hills coroner. But she’s a single mom so we need to see her struggle with finances (a plot device made convenient by the bag of money hidden under Scott’s bed, and then never mentioned again) and romance, I guess. Scott’s PlotDeviceDad was an FBI agent, and he was one before Melissa kicked him out for drinking. Which means they both likely had careers going before they had their only child. Totally plausible that Melissa could have gone to med school and then chosen pathology because the schedule can be more family friendly.

TW works best in short season format. 10-12 episodes to tell a contained story. Any more than that and the writers start to tell more story than they seem to know how to: stretching it out with unnecessary plot twists and bringing in unnecessary characters which they just kill off when they outlive their usefulness. All of that extra story telling and yet somehow the most basic questions oftentimes never got answered. Why DID The Dread Doctors want to resurrect Sebastian Valet? What was their endgame? I got that Marcel was part of it, but why? Was he in love with Sebastian and for the love of all that’s holy...WHY? Sometimes I felt like the writers plotted long stories believing that if they peppered in enough character development for the MCs then the viewers wouldn’t ask the hard questions. It’s about the holes in the actual story they were telling.

I became inordinately concerned about the (fictional) teenage population of (fictional) Beacon Hills because just SO MANY PEOPLE DIED! Like... surely this would make the national news as a town in crisis! There was literally a sewer full of 24 bodies of missing people and a bus full of dead people! In less than a month. It’s like they had a never-ending supply of teenagers. If I live in Beacon Hills I’m packing my shit and moving to Sunnydale. Surely The Hellmouth is safer.

I reach a level of fatigue about 3/4 through each season. It’s because of this: every big bad is just too powerful to defeat. Our heroes are beaten, broken down, confidence shattered and sometimes their separated through machinations and manipulations. Whatever will they do? Find a way to win in the very last episode, obvi. Sometimes it’s because of the “Maguffin”, the magical object that exists just for the purpose of destroying the enemy, and sometimes it’s because Scott put some plan to double/triple cross the untrustworthy ally at some point unseen by the viewer (they used this one twice). I would much prefer a more even fight for once where The Pack and The Enemy trade wins and losses so that when the final battle occurrs the stakes are higher and it’s anyone’s (lacrosse) game.

Yes these are mostly negatives, but I don’t want you to get the impression that I’m not enjoying the show. There’s a lot to like too. I’ll be back to share some of those thoughts later.

OK...YOU KNOW WHAT THIS NONSENSE IS BULLSHIT

With the new season of Voltron recently released, with 13 chapters and an intense content, the only thing that people worry about is ... romantic ralations. Guys, it's the same fucking problem over and over and over again. First Klance, then Sheith, now Shadam.

When I’m watching Voltron, I always wonder why the rating is for over 7 years, when in reality it would have to be for people over 13... now I understand. Perhaps they put that category ‘cause the fandom can not contain its desire to ruin a great show for its romantic interests. Yes! I also like Klance and Sheith and I respect all the ships that the fandom can came up with, what I can not respect is the toxic people who get angry and blow things up like a 7 year old child because the show did not give the content they wanted.

Since season three, we were observing an increasingly dark Voltron, with much more intense content, battles, losses; but we also saw a Voltron with a family content, relationships constructions, friendship, evolutions. Voltron is not a shojo anime where the protagonists declare their love and fight against the school problems, or put in this example, againts the space problems. Voltron is a futuristic action show where the protagonists sacrifice their own lives for the good and the hope of the universe, for the hope of the most defenseless. We saw at the end of season four, last chapter; Pidge was terrified of dying at the hands of Haggar and her cannon, Keith was willing to sacrifice himself to save his friends.

As part of the LGBT + community, I was very struck by the fact that Shiro was the first lgbt canon character in the show. In fact, that made me think that I could no longer do the ShiroxMatt ship or write fanfics about it since he had a definite partner, but that lasted a few seconds; my ideas and ships would still be fanon but that did not bother me. I wanted to see the ship, I wanted to see Adam. I was very excited when I saw him on screen and watch him fight for his people ... just as I was thrilled (sadly) to see him die. It was hard, I admit it, I laughed as not to cry. It was part cliche, they showed a character whom they knew we were going to love and they took him away from us in a few minutes. That loss is not going to take away the fact that Shiro remains an LGBT + character.

But, Voltron is still a war show, in recent seasons we saw it clearly and there is one more to see. Maybe the producers will put the happy ending that a part of the fandom wants, perhaps there is no romantic Klance but it will turn out a very strong friendship, maybe Allura stays with Lance or Shiro or Keith, the possibilities are endless (and if we continue with the original story, Allura would stay with Keith / Akira ... I just leave this point clear)

Disappointment is one thing, getting angry for not seeing a ship or x content is another. They put the LGBT content as the same amount of weight as they talked about it, very little information was given about it and you invented a great story ... very good even, I must admit that ideas, fanarts and fanfics were great, like everything already published. The death of Adam meant how crude war can be, we lose people in a matter of seconds without even realizing it and we can not do anything about it, except to fight and make sure that their lives had not been in vain. And that’s exactly what Voltron was in this season, a crude war that made us have small heart attacks with the idea of the death of some characters (if not all). A new season awaits us and that will be the end. We can’t discuss the following months as children of 7 years, we can discuss things in a better way and with respect.

If you can not stand it, then you can stop watching Voltron and think that this was its end. Also, you can discuss everything you want with me and share your opinion, you can also block me by MY own opinion, one that will not change.

Hi, its me again! I was reading trough the harpies section and i was wondering... is the Harpyja Orientalis half lion? is it said that they are related to them but its hard to tell by the picture. Also, how is their relationship with other harpies? Do they tolerate each other despite being different breeds? I love to hear about social and cultural dinamics on different species. And last; if the cannon says veelas can only be female, why this has been passed to the Vila? just curious

Addressing your questions in order:

is the Harpyja Orientalis half lion? is it said that they are related to them but its hard to tell by the picture. 

Harpyja Orientalis are not related to lions. No Harpies are. Though Harpyja Orientalis are believed to be related to Sphinxes a) there is no evidence of this, it’s entirely speculation and b) even if they were its not necessarily an evolutionary link to lions, depending on how you believe Sphinxes, Manticores and Chimaeras evolved (Palaeosphynxes, Chimaera Evolution) and c) even if you follow the theory that says that sphinxes evolved from big cats mimicking humans, its not lions. It started in prehistory, all the way back with sabretoothed cats, so I mean there might be a link to Cats in general, but no, not specifically lions at all.

Also, how is their relationship with other harpies? Do they tolerate each other despite being different breeds? I love to hear about social and cultural dinamics on different species. 

Harpies get along... interestingly. Each individual group has their own culture and rules, but they are aware of their relation and are willing to work together to ensure safety and security in the face of other dangers (Dragons, Manticores, wixes who would do them harm). Thus, some groups will send emissaries to others, to mixed results, though it is practically unheard of for a Harpy to kill another of their kind, though they will fight viciously and target things which are important to their enemies in order to cause pain if they should battle.

And last; if the cannon says veelas can only be female, why this has been passed to the Vila? just curious

Canon says no such fucking thing. (I’m not angry at you, I’m angry at how deep this bloody idea has dug it’s claws into fandom.) It’s an assumption common to fanon because we’re only shown female Veela. The thing is, this is like saying the Goblins or Dwarves are an entirely male race simply because we see no females - it’s an assumption, and a stupid and illogical one at that.

It’s generally implied that Fleur looks Veela, but not as Veela as those at the World Cup - and we learn later that she’s part Veela. Gabrielle as well is not suggested to be all that clearly Veela, she has silvery blonde hair, but nothing is said to indicate she’s going to grow into Veela-esque beauty. Besides, if Fleur’s mother was a full-blooded Veela why is the hair in her wand from her grandmother?

So. There’s exactly fuck all in canon to say that Veela are female only. My personal headcanon is that Male Veela are a) rare and b) so startlingly beautiful that they chose to seclude themselves so they are not imprisoned by besotted humans and instead spend time with their family and other Veela, who are immune. Further, if you have a female only race you rapidly hit a few pitfalls, most importantly how in fuck do they reproduce?

If they have no males of their own species to breed with it’s either parthenogenesis (they’re all clones of each other) or somehow all female offspring of theirs are automatically Veela. 

The first seems unlikely, Veela are described as startlingly beautiful, but they’re not indistinguishable from each other. Furthermore, while Parthenogenesis is found in a bunch of species, it’s not found in mammals or birds, so Veela which are humanoid and able to turn into avian-esque creatures, couldn’t use it. Therefore, Parthenogenesis is out. 

If it’s that all female offspring of theirs are Veela then how does this work? How can that single Veela-marking thread of DNA reliably make it to every female - and only the female - offspring, given chromosomal stuff? Say the Chromosome responsible for the little XX or XY thing is what carries that thread of DNA, as would make sense, right? Then after one generation the chance of it passing on has halved. You have the X from the human parent, without that Veela-marking DNA strand, and the X from the Veela, with that DNA strand. And in the next generation, unless there is some unknown way of ensuring that the X gets passed on rather than the X...

you have a good chance of getting a human child, regardless of sex or gender. And then, as well, how can you ensure that it is XY rather than XY? (Look, I tried to do biology at A-Level and I couldn’t hack it, but I’m pretty sure creating the biological framework for this would not be easy - if it’s even possible - even with magic and it would be simpler to just have a species with a two-part reproduction system.)

And then of course, you know, outside of canon which doesn’t bring up gender identity stuff, I have a few issues with the idea that someone who identifies as female may not be Veela like her mother simply because of Chromosomes and likewise that someone who identifies as male might be insistently told that they’re female because they have a bunch of Veela traits, again because of Chromosomes. I can see it being an interesting narrative but it feels... wrong to deny someone so clearly an aspect of themselves, and basically going, as TERFs are wont to do, “you can’t be female because you don’t have XYZ gender trait”. With humans its having tits and a vagina and a womb. With Veela its the whole damn allure and shapechanging and fireballs. It feels very... gender essentialist to me, to go “you’re not actually female, even if you identify as such, because you don’t have this one trait” and I really don’t think allowing for that kind of prejudice is something which sits well within the anti-prejudice statements of the Potterverse. If any of my followers here are trans and/or nb and can talk more readily and clearly about this it’d much appreciated - I don’t really have much consideration for my gender, it’s not a factor in my identity, so I can't really talk on this with any authority.

Basically, Parthenogenesis doesn’t work, a single DNA marker to force Veela-ness in female children won’t work consistently so far as I can tell and then there is a bunch of gender identity stuff that I just think is plenty fucked up.

I transferred the female-only thing fandom has to Vila because, firstly, they’re not canon, so I can play with fanon ideas there, and, secondly, they’re Fae, which has their own weird genetics. Being purely Fae, unlike Veela which are a combination of Vila, a few other Fae types, and, most importantly, humans, allows for some weird and specific quirks. 

Also, Vila/Vili/Wili from the lore are only female and don’t have much by way of bird characteristics, let alone fire ones (in the lore, they’re actually tied to water). Veela - such a different name! - do have these characteristics, so it’s simpler to say that the Vila ancestors of Veela were limited as per their lore, but these different descendants do not. It also allows a way to explain why they’re not seen in canon, because they’d probably go extinct if so limited. 

It’s why, in part, species tend to require two parents. Parthenogenesis is fine, but cloning leaves a whole species open to one genetic weakness, and relies on random mutation to ensure diversity and evolution. Two parents makes it easy for a species to reproduce - they only need to find one other of their kind with the right parts - as well as ensure diversity and evolution. Three or four parents is of course harder, which is why two-part reproduction is ideal. More parents = more genetic diversity but also = difficulty in finding enough partners.

I hope this all makes sense? The last section especially is kind of rambly.

it’s a truth universally acknowledged that if a tri movie is coming out, tumblr user dianaagron (clara for friends) won’t know about it until the day after, when she’ll wake up and check twitter after 84 years of not logging in and realize that yesterday was the day. actually, this time i remembered the episodes were out the same day they were released, but still it was because of good ol’ twitter, because with all the mess that’s going on with me (part of the reason why i’m never here) even if i happened to check at the beginning of the week when soushitsu was coming out, i still managed to completely forget about it in the span of a fucking day. also, i’m fucking pissed because i’ve always watched the thing after downloading the various episodes because that way i have all my stuff and i can go back and easily find caps and other stuff like that but nope not this time because i can’t fucking find a single torrent and i’m refusing to download subbed episodes because a) it’s gonna take so long to direct download something and b) what use are subbed episodes when i know i’d be replacing them with unsubbed ones as soon as i can find working dls (this is a cry of help: tell me where i can download the episodes, im dying, thank you)

one thing to take into account: i was extra pissed for various reasons yesterday night when i watched the first two episodes, so i’m not really sure if that’s why, compared to the shit that i had to deal with in real life, the episodes (in the contrary to all expectations) weren’t bad at all. truth is i actually liked this installment? INCREDIBLE, I KNOW. of course it had its nonsense moments and parts that made me roll my eyes (im buying pizza for everyone who can guess which were those moments) and other negative parts, but i really preferred movie 4 to movie 3. i’m guessing this is an unpopular opinion because i remember everyone was so happy with kokuhaku back in the day and i was the only soul going like lmao i didnt even cry but idk, i liked this one, it wasn’t bad. btw, i said i’m guessing mine could be an unpopular opinion because i’m writing this sorry excuse of a review before reading anything else cause i don’t want to be influenced :)))))

once again, i feel like nothing happened in the course of these four new episodes. now, i know i’m extremely slow when it comes to get plot points and all that (not because i’m that stupid, thank you very much, but because of my attention span varies from 1 second to 2 and a half so it’s hard for me to recall what happened in the previous installments unless i go and rewatch all of them - thing i won’t ever do because this girl right here is lazy as fuuuck) but if you sit down and think about what was revealed, you get close to nothing lmao.

winning points of the movie (for me):

not too many extreme closeups like in the previous installment. it flowed better, the animation quality wasn’t as terrible as it was in the previous four episodes (im saying this just by quickly looking at the caps i took - while in the other i had so many ugly caps here they all look presentable and usable) (i say this from the point of you of someone who makes edits of course, i dont have the knowledge of an animator lmao), the majority of the shots with mimi, which are the ones that i pay the most attention to, are super pretty, but also those with taichi’s!!! his design was super on point, i have many caps im probably gonna insert later of just him looking hella attractive, and sora!!! omg sora was so fucking beautiful in these episodes i was so :)))) yay for nice designs, they make me happy.

the lack of you know who for basically two episodes. it was so good, so nice, so calming. i was loving life and life was loving me.  

HOW THEY HANDLED THE TAIORATO!!!! if you know me or if you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know this already, but i’m saying this in case i have new readers (HI) or, y’know, to swipe some dust off: i’m not the biggest fan of the main three. that comes from the fact that michi is my otp and i love taishiro probably too much for my own sanity, so i tend to be on the taichi/koushiro/mimi & yamato/sora/jyou side of things (which is like, super unpopular because if it’s not taiorato then it’s yamichi, so you get why my life is a constant struggle). anyway, thing is that i actually loved the interactions between the three? it was light and it felt super real, it could easily be relatable. it was also clear to me that taichi’s and yamato’s roles in sora’s life were blatantly different and i also loved to see how the two of them while being in the same situation reacted differently, but i’m gonna touch this topic later. overall tho, good job on the dynamic between those three. im clapping my hands, i wasn’t excited about it when the movie poster came out five months ago but i’m so happy that they made me love the parts with taichi, yamato and sora.

it wasn’t heavy on fight scenes. i know. I KNOW. but as i’ve said, i’m not the average digimon fan so i’m happy with my bonds developing and less fights and all that stuff :))))

and i also FINALLY appreciated a koumi scene!!!! it happened!!!!! honestly, as i’ve said, i’m not entirely sure if it was because i was facing so much rl shit right before i watched the thing or what, but this time i was just enjoying what tri had to offer me without caring too much about other stuff like “ugh they’re pushing the fanservice with ship baits” and such. this was just plain cute, mimi was terribly in character, koushiro as well, and it was just the kind of interaction that i love. i love my kids pt. 2974521248 like, of course i would’ve loved for mimi to feed one to taichi, but i’m still somehow sane and i know they’ll never show something like that in canon? but still, it’s nice cause i know how differently from koushiro taichi would’ve reacted in a setting like this and i just can use it in my fanon world. goodbye.

a word on the so called triangle that of a triangle it has nothing but whatever: it was clear to me that yamato and taichi hold two very different spots in sora’s life, while both being important to her. there are multiple times when we see yamato trying to make taichi break the ice and talk to sora, and that’s because he is her best friend, so he should be the one who is supposed to know how to make her feel better at all times. another thing i noticed was how it was yamato to be the most sensitive to sora (unsurprisingly so): you see it especially when taichi is busy with agumon and he’s still monitoring sora, worried

and the episodes weren’t bad, come on. they went a little further with the plot by showing that the chick whose name i don’t remember had a partner that died and so that was the reason for the reboot, so they did give some answers, and at least the pacing of this movie was faster than in the previous one. 

also, as i’ve said, idk what’s the popular opinion but i loved sora’s arc, it was nicely done and i don’t have anything to bitch about (except for meiko’s unnecessary presence). i felt for her and i wanted to wrap a blanket around her and just give her all the love.

(I'm totally with you on the Amanda plot WTFness. Personally tho, there was another WTH thing about Kurt's story I feel kinda gets glossed over a lot and it's Margali's introduction. She basically stalked him for God knows how long after Stefan's death before sending him a booby trapped gift on his birthday which locked him in hell where he'd get tortured eternally. If the X-men didn't get Strange onto it, Kurt would've stayed there for good. Then the whole situation got pushed under the rug)

I’m not sure how I feel about Margali. I see fanon about her being a good mother. Better, yes. Good? Eeeeeeeeeh, not sure.

She raised him and thanks to her he is alive however, she wasn’t precisely best. She certainly did better than Raven but Kurt is better without Margali now a days; specially after what she did the last time they met.

She has hurt his friends and they’re Kurt’s found family, she has tried to murder him in the past and she has severely punished him so, no thanks. She did good but the bad sadly outweighs the good.

Kurt doesn’t have good parents in the 616 universe, no matter how hard the fandom tries to make it seem and the idea of them ending in good terms isn’t realistic, I can see him forgiving her -yet one more time- but not like in terms of having weekend barbecues together and him visiting her on Mother’s Day.

And Raven? Even less, this whole idea the fandom and sometimes the writers have of them having a mother and son relationship is certainly unrealistic.

Want to talk about Kurt having good parents and a great family? Want to gush about that? Then let’s remember the lovely German family that adopted him in the X-Men: Evolution series or, let’s talk about Kurt Waggoner’s parents, they loved him and supported him until the end.

Why trying to make it happen with parents (adoptive and biological) that have caused damage on him in the past? Canonically? Anyway, in the end everyone is free to write and to enjoy whatever they want but I don’t see the point of having fandom art of Raven and Azazel with a little Kurt or with Margali being with him during his wedding day when there are certain things that are better for him in other renditions.
