the need to fight others that dont understand how Odysseus and Penelope work is so big but i need to calm myself down because *frustation*

Like they are so ... what is the word? projecting? so hard on Odysseus changing into a "monster" that they not realize Penelope changed as well? The trauma and the 20 years that passed werent just for Odysseus, it was for Penelope too. She needed to endure for her family. Yes, she waited, but that doesnt mean she remain unchanged. If something i would say she had to become the monster WAY earlier than Odysseus did. It's her cunning that saved her and Telemachus from the suitors for so long. Hadnt she been calculating all this, would you think Ithaca would have remained in one piece? Hell, no.

Again, i understand the need to relate to the protagonist, but don't forget the weight the other characters have. Specially since Penelope is the final goal of Odysseus' journey. Comprehending the importance of Penelope is also a part of Odysseus' progress.

Heart & Sol Month Days 7 & 19

Prompts are "Hobbies" and "Rainy Day".

Rain poured outside, tapping against the windows of Dogday's home. Everyone was supposed to meet at Craftycorn's for art lessons but those plans were canceled. Instead everyone took shelter from the downpour. Inside, Bobby was sitting cross-legged on the floor with Dogday, both surrounded by a mess of art supplies and snacks.

"I forget how Crafty did it the last time. Do you remember?" Dogday asked.

"Oh I don't know. I think it was less of a squiggle line and more of a slant line?"

“This was your idea,” Dogday muttered, carefully dipping a brush into a cup of paint. “And you have the audacity to judge my skills?”

Bobby, who had half a cookie in her mouth and blue paint smeared on her cheek, cackled. “Hey, I never said I was good at painting either! We’re just killing time.”

Dogday squinted at the piece of paper in front of him. It was supposed to be a drawing of Bobby. Instead, it looked like… some kind of unholy mix between a bear and a potato.

Bobby leaned over, peeking at his work.

“Geeze, Dogday. Is that supposed to be me?”

Dogday deadpanned. “No, it’s an abstract interpretation of your soul.”

Bobby snorted. “Well, your soul looks like a moldy loaf of bread.”

She held up her own work: a drawing of Dogday… except...he was...well...bread.

"Wow really? Do you think I'd taste good covered in peanut butter?"

Bobby faltered. "N-no?"

"Aw..."

They stared at each other for a moment—then burst into laughter.

Outside, the rain continued to fall, but inside, the two of them sat together, smearing paint onto each other’s faces and doodling ridiculous caricatures, making the most of a rainy afternoon.

What do you think Cass's thoughts on mercy killing are?

WHAT AN INTERESTING QUESTION. I'm honestly not sure how good an answer I can give, though I think Cass wouldn't mercy kill herself, even if someone were asking her to do it. Her stance is very much 'nobody dies tonight,' and I think she could never bring herself to kill someone no matter what the circumstances.

Could she stand by and let someone else mercy kill though? I think she'd be able to read how much pain someone is in, but she so thoroughly believes in the value of life that idk if that would be enough to sway her. We know from Batgirl (2000) #19 that, while her morals are generally inflexible, she can step aside sometimes (this is the death penalty issue). But #19 is also pre-Shiva fight, and that issue is her grappling with her guilt - the guy must die, she must die. I wonder if post-Shiva fight she would've reacted differently to the dilemma. (Also that was on the anniversary of the night she killed Faizul - even a different day may have changed things).

Overall I think she'd be against it. Cass' anti-killing stance is not circumstantial - it doesn't really matter why someone is killing someone, all that matters is the act itself. She'd be sympathetic to the person suffering and the person wanting to end the suffering, but she wouldn't disregard human life for any reason.

(But Cass did mercy-kill Harvey Bullock in DCeased so??? I guess she would??? Bullock was being actively turned into a zombie so it might also be like a timing thing, if someone is 3 seconds from death she might ease their way, but if it's someone who willl die in a few months I don't think she would).

Marina + Watermelon for the fic challenge please :)

Maya sips on her cocktail, her eyes fixed on the sea below her, the hammock in which she lies swinging back and forth in the gentle breeze that is keeping her cool under the hot Sicilian sun. 

“Are you happy, bambina?” Carina says with an amused tone to her voice, stepping out onto the terrace with a bowl full of freshly cut watermelon in her hand, which Maya greedily steals from her. 

Maya nods, juice running down her chin as she bites into a cube of melon and scooching over as Carina pulls the small stool over and clumsily climbs into the hammock beside her. The heat doesn’t bother her, she is never put off from physical touch even when Maya’s skin is clammy from sunscreen and sweat; she is just happy to have her wife to herself for a few hours while the piccoli are with her aunt and uncle at a nearby waterpark. 

Maya picks up another piece of watermelon and holds it in front of Carina, her teeth biting into her bottom lip as Carina takes it from her hand and sucks the taste from Maya’s fingers, before pulling Maya in for a sweet, sticky kiss, their plans to while away the afternoon in each other’s company.
