👻 and 📝 for the ask game?? 👀
Thank you for asking, Zen!! c:
(WiP asks)
👻Is there a scene that you find intimidating that you have yet to write?
This is hard to answer because...if I know what a scene is going to be ahead of time, it's usually because I'm about to write it haha (my outlining is extremely vague).
But! I will say that there is a very big and complex battle sequence at the end of my arranged marriage au and I'm a bit nervous for it. If there's ever fighting in a book, I skim until something else is happening and I'm almost never paying attention to battle sequences in movies. There are a lot of moving parts to this particular scene because there are several factions at play with a variety of fighting styles, and there are lots of emotional undercurrents at play, so that adds to the stress. I also feel I struggle with writing fights in a compelling way (again, because they aren't my favorite) so it's...challenging in a good way but also intimidating to know I will need to write one for this.
📝Share a snippet of an unposted WIP, with or without context.
Predictably, I could not choose one (story of my life lol) so have two instead c:
“Hello,” Elowen said quietly, and took a step forward. The other her did not move; she stood still instead and faced straight ahead, as if disinterested in the entire process.
“Alright,” she said, circling this other self for a moment, “Alright, then. This is…good. I want this again, please.”
The weight of her hair settled onto her neck again and Elowen shook her hands out, as if dismissing a sudden numbness.
“I want—ah. Variations on this, please? Something a little closer,” she said, looking up, and after a moment dozens of versions of herself materialized from the darkness, an army of lookalikes minutely different from each other.
The sight of them should have been unnerving; it should have been terrifying. Instead, Elowen felt a laugh bubble up from her throat as she turned and took them all in. So many of them—so many people she might have been, with only a few small changes. They could have been her sisters, her family.
They could be her.
“There—you,” she said after a moment, pointing into the crowd, and all at once a great weight lifted.
Elowen laughed, surprised, and laughed again, stroking the soft ends of her hair where they stuck up at the back of her head. She even spun, alone again in that ink-black room, and gloried in the feeling of nothing spinning around behind her.
She’d thought she would feel curiously bare, too light, vulnerable—but instead she felt strong. Strong and…and free.
and (a codex entry from the arranged marriage au, The Red Crossing Arrangement):
“Harajatish Oravana and Duchess Caitrin Arbuthnot, 6:25 Steel:
To date, the Duchess is the only human bride of the Compact to choose to return to the elven homeland after marriage. Thus, due to the secrecy of the elven people, little is known of either participant, save that they seemed reasonably happy during all the attendant ceremonies. Neither attended the next Compact ceremonies, though the letter they sent claimed an illness in the family that did not allow them to travel.
Regardless of official information, there is a famous elven ballad first heard sometime after 6:28 Steel about a lady with “hair aflame” who raced twelve score halla on horseback and won. In the ballad, her lover waited for her beneath a great “fall of sighs” and she raced on because she was desperate to join him there. Romantic twaddle, some might say, but this archivist disagrees.
Duchess Caitrin was, after all, known for both her red hair and her horsemanship.” —From The Girl From Red Crossing: A Study of the Couples of the Compact, by Mother Petrice, originally published in 9:35 Dragon
#ask game#elowen lavellan#my writing#the red crossing arrangement#thanks for asking c: i had to think about the scene one for longer than i would have thought#because themes are what i am struggling with currently!

Background: Eret traveled the land for a long time and met Foolish in some occasion destroying a “Wither cult” and some “Trolls” along the way. Apparently, Eret is centuries old and is somewhat linked if not a descendant of the (in)famous, Herobrine. This seems to be true as only once Eret accidentally removed his shades and revealed white glowing eyes like his powerful “ancestor.” After building his castle he joined L’Manberg until Dream convinced him to betray them as this would have brought peace and a win-win situation. After saying his famous phrase “It was never meant to be” he rose as the king of land. He, however realized that what he did was a bad thing and so he decided to recover the friendship that he sunk. During the elections, both him, Niki and Fundy worked to remove Schaltt from his presidential chair. Dream did not appreciated this and warned that if he did not act as a neutral figurehead he would remove his king status. Eret chose to help his friends instead of being an empty mask like Dream wanted; George was crowned right after. After fighting as a soldier in the war, Eret did witness and survived various events: Manberg explosion, Technoblade withers, reclaiming to the throne, the adoption of Fundy, the Doomsday war, the Eggpire, the death of Foolish, the return of Wilbur, Dream imprisonment&escape and the rescue of Micheal. After these events, Eret received an apology book from Wilbur telling him to open it at a specific time. After all that time, Eret was looking at his museum and at the relics of the past in the hall. There, alone, in the deafening silence looked at the new addition to the hall: his crown. “I do wear one but i not know even know how to be one. So why should i wear it?” Silence reigned. “What odes it mean to be a king? A TRUE king?” Silence took over once more. “That wish i can grant.” Silence was broken. Someone was there. “Who? What?” Eret turned around, the voice came from the shadows. “If you wish to learn to be a ruler, the pass my challenge: come find me. And i will make your wish come true.” Eret was in shock. “They already have accepted.” What was the meaning of that? This was trap for sure… who did accept? Eret rushed toward the darkness, sword in hand: “Who has accepted? What have you done to the others???” As he jumped, the world shifted and he found himself into a different place and equipped with different items. A palace, a room, someone knocked at the door: “Lord Irenicus? Your father awaits. He must give you his last words before he departs…” Eret composed himself. He had no idea where he was but the situation was clear. “I will be waiting for you, prince.” Said the voice. “I am coming.” Said Eret.

[ adry, 28, she/her, est ]
[1] introduce your character! what are some significant moments in their life? how did they come to be the person they are today? what do they hope to achieve and what brought them to beacon hills? (this can be as long as you’d like! we just want to get to know the character).
He fell in love with science and medicine the moment he discovered it. Joshua claims to respect Nature above all and prides himself in being an impartial force in the world. He enjoys documenting life around him, although he does research his own blood and how it can effectively be used as medicine.
In his research, Joshua came across a possible substitute to a vampire's need for human blood and a wendigo's need for human flesh. Ultimately, however, he decided the study was unnatural and closed it as a failure... Until centuries later, a famous scientist approached him---a wendigo. While they bumped heads immediately, Joshua found his views challenging and stimulating, but would feel betrayed when the other announced he was using Joshua's research to make something he would later baptize as Ambrosia.
After the unveiling, he remained hidden, visiting the Sentinelese and spending his days with them. In search of a Banshee's blood sample, however, he caught news of his maker's latest plots: he wanted Olivia. It took him little time figuring out his progeny was in a place called Beacon Hills, and even less time to remember that was were Derek Hale was from. While unsocial, Joshua is fiercely loyal to those he calls friends and intends on keeping them safe regardless of the sacrifices he might need to make.
[2] how does your character feel about the unveiling and integration? do they think it’s a step in the right direction or a set back? do they trust the people in charge to do the right thing?
Joshua doesn't care so much about the unveiling nor integration. It happened, so now it is time for nature to take it's course. He wants little part of it, happy to continue his research and enjoying the company of those he calls friends. He trusts nobody in power, his age enabling him to feel as if organizations are doomed to fall in the hands of corruption. He is, however, pissed off at the forceful laws on Ambrosia and the existence of Ambrosia itself.
QUICK BIO:
-Born as Titus Postumius Furius to a Roman senator and a Greek upperclasswoman in what was known in the Roman Empire as the Year of the Consulship of Sabinus and Camerinus. Although he would only be remembered in history as Longinus.
-He quickly rose to centurion within the Empire’s military, and married a childhood friend after his first campaign ended. With her, he fathered two daughters. Leaving again after the birth of his youngest daughter, he fought valiantly for his Emperor, Rome, honor and his family. However, on 30 AD, he was stationed at Jerusalem, Judea after having an eye injury that had left him partially blind.
-On 31 AD, Titus is called to carry out an execution by orders of Pontius Pilate. Arriving at the destination, he doesn’t realize who the man upon the cross is. As he thrust his spear, gaze glued to the compelling man upon the cross, the blood of Jesus of Nazareth fell upon his face and Titus’ world reopened: he could see again.
-With his vision back and tormented with his actions, he fled Judea and planned to go back to Rome for his wife and daughters to flee the Empire altogether.
- However, in 33 AD, as he neared the outskirts of Rome, he attempted to end his life. His attempt was foiled by a beautiful man who claimed to serve Jesus of Nazareth’s god. He told the centurion that he had been sent to pass down judgement upon him. That the centurion’s punishment would be life eternal, but so long as he fed upon human blood…
-The state and his family would presume Titus Postumius Furius dead, but on 52 AD, his youngest daughter would marry and remember a ragged beggar with a warm smile handing her a lilac–the flower she’d often given her father upon returning from the battlefield.
-Drifting aimlessly and nameless through countries and time itself, he almost went mad and gave into the beastial thirst growing within him until a man in white robes with a crucifix approached him. The man who had killed Jesus now donned the robes, drank the wine that symbolized the blood that had cured his vision, and ate the bread that symbolized the flesh he had pierced. Baptized as Henry Benedict, it was during this time that he took up medicine. It is then that he begins to document his life and the occurrences around him.
-With the beginning of the Inquisition, however, “Henry” grew disillusioned with the church and humanity as a whole. Ditching his name, he relocated and became more involved with the supernatural–including vampiric bureaucracy. During this time, he adopted a name he would come to love and continue to use until present: Joshua.
-While humanity had sickened him, his brethren made him feel worst. Their extremist views on what he was made him feel excluded and uncomfortable---their explanation on how he could've become a Daywalker seemingly impossible due to his lack of memories from his transition. It was during this time that he found information about a descendant of his.
-Joshua ran from his brethren in search for his descendant. When he walked into that bar, he was taken aback. She looked just like his eldest daughter, and after a short exchange of words he managed to befriend her. He dedicated himself to her for a while---what could've looked like a friendly conversation at work transported Joshua to simpler times... To a calm Rome, to a daughter that enjoyed learning to use a sword while her mother pestered her about scriptures. Then, their routine was abruptly stopped when he walked in to find her dying. That was the night she changed everything.
-With Emmanuelle as his progeny, Joshua was inspired to pass down knowledge he'd been hoarding for millennia, shared his excitement for the world as a whole and shared his beliefs on the uglier faces it could show. Her mere existence pushed him deeper into his studies, encouraged him to focus on their blood. She renamed herself Olivia as he admitted his true name and the reason for his current name, and thus he has since called her by her chosen name. Although age made violence and death uninteresting, he does see them as part of nature---human nature specifically---and does not mind it.
-They did clash when Olivia showed interest in the world outside of what they formed. Unlike Joshua, she wasn't happy just being human. Although they parted ways then, he continued to be in and out her life.
- It wouldn’t be until the early 1900′s that he would focus solely on phlebotomy, regardless of his condition. As of the early 2000s, Joshua had isolated himself. Until an overpowering force beckoned him to a seemingly quaint town....

I just had an epiphany about Arkham-verse Riddler!
There are a handful of posts that routinely make the rounds on my dash. These posts criticize Arkham-verse Riddler’s proclivity for placing people in deathtraps and bemoan that a generally fun villain has been twisted into a Saw-esque killer. Inevitably, someone in the notes will point out that this is not atypical behavior for Eddie. And they’re right. From his first appearance in the comic books to the Adam West show to BTAS, Eddie has been cramming people into weird, themed death puzzles. But that’s exactly it! Eddie crams people into weird, themed death puzzles.
Exhibit A: Detective Comics #140
Exhibit B: Batman the Animated Series, Episode 41, “If You’re So Smart, Why Aren’t You Rich?”
Key Elements to a Good Death Puzzle:
- Worthiness of Victims
Do the people in the death puzzles deserve to be there? Now, of course, this is reliant on Eddie’s own particular brand of reasoning. Mr. Eagle in Detective Comics #140 got crammed into a deathtrap because his name happened to make for a really good answer to a riddle. In the case of “If You’re So Smart, Why Aren’t You Rich?,” Dan Mockridge is a more understandable target in that he’s an asshole who fired Eddie after cheating him out of the money he was owed for creating a very successful computer game. Batman (and the rest of the Batfam) are, naturally, fair game.
In contrast, the victims/hostages in, say, Arkham City, are just random medics and security guards that Eddie scooped up because they happened to be there and because saving innocents is one of Batman’s priorities. These people exist to add tension to solving Eddie’s puzzles, but whether they actually succeed at that is debatable because they have no character, no specific, tangible ties to Eddie or his themes and beliefs beyond being considered a bunch of insignificant idiots in a broader world of insignificant idiots, expendable and beneath the Riddler’s concern.
In general, people that are anti-intellectual, performing an intellectual task or service at what Eddie considers to be sub-part level, have an unfortunately fitting name for a puzzle (i.e. Mr. Eagle), the target of some personal grudge (i.e. Dan Mockridge), or connected to Batman in some way (i.e. Commissioner Gordon) make good death puzzle candidates. These types of targets make Eddie feel less like an aimless serial killer plucking random people off the streets and more like a calculating schemer. He has ideals and personal relationships and tying those up in his crimes makes for a more compelling story (and higher stakes to boot).
- Ability to Escape/Solve
If the victim is Batman or an associate, can they escape by themselves? If the victim is someone else, can Batman solve the puzzle to release them? Basically, can the situation be resolved without cheating? The answer should always be a resounding yes. It’s not much of a puzzle or riddle if there’s no solution, and there’s no game, no challenge if Batman (or whoever) has absolutely no chance of winning by playing by the rules.
In Detective Comics #40, Batman solves the puzzle! It’s really just that simple. In “If You’re So Smart, Why Aren’t You Rich?,” Batman solves the puzzles (and uses one of the traps to his advantage while still remaining technically within the confines of the tools presented to him).
It’s understandable, sort of, that Eddie would get miffed when his schemes are foiled, but Arkham-verse Riddler takes this to a whole nother level. One of his defining character traits is his nigh-unshakable belief that Batman must be cheating, must be because his riddles and traps should be unbeatable, unsolvable. This isn’t simply his overwhelming confidence in himself; this is a result of Eddie designing his traps to be unwinnable. In Arkham City, the second hostage that Batman must save is stuck in a rigged trap. If the player does not see through the rigging, and they almost certainly won’t on their first try, the game will enter a fail-state and inform the player that Eddie’s trap is impossible to beat under ordinary circumstances. The only way to win is to “cheat;” there is no way to solve this puzzle on Eddie’s terms because Eddie did not provide a way to win. Thus, the challenges he offers often feel less like a clash between minds and more like Eddie trying to trick Batman into electrocuting himself to death (repeatedly) or driving his car into a swirling saw-filled death pool (repeatedly). He wants him to lose, to die, and the actual designs of the traps are a tad simplistic as a result (well, that and because the game designers neglected to ensure that his puzzles match his intellect).
Batman Confidential, Issue #28
Most Riddlers, as Batman Confidential demonstrates, present challenges to Batman because they enjoy Batman’s intellect and his attention. He loves the game of it! He’s desperate for someone who can actually keep up with him, and he’s utterly fixated on Batman because he provides that much needed stimulation (and because he’s gay).
Batman Adventures (2003); Issue #11 (aka that one with the lobster)
Eddie in the Arkham-verse doesn’t seem to enjoy his matches at all, really. But then, he’s not looking for a playmate or to judge whether Batman’s intellect matches his own. Why would he? He derides Batman over and over again as a simpleton, an idiot, a cheat. There’s no love, however one-sided, in this relationship. Just a desperate man attempting to kill the only person who’s ever bested him. But I digress.
Bottom-line: A good death trap (or riddle, for that matter) has to have a solution, and that solution should be achievable through the parameters set forth by the puzzle.
- Style
Remember how I noted that one of the most common complaints about Arkham-verse Riddler is his Saw-esque aesthetic? I see that specific comparison pop up every single time this issue is raised. I think this element, even more so than the two aforementioned categories, is what truly turns people off of Arkham-verse Riddler, and what turns people off of some of the more recent comic books interpretations for that matter. Eddie is a character widely known for his pizazz, his style, his flare.
The Riddler, as displayed in his codex file in the first Arkham game.
It doesn’t surprise me that many people remember this version of the Arkham character particularly fondly, given that his aesthetics are more in keeping with those of his comic book and BTAS counterparts (and given his relatively harmless presence within the game; he leaves riddles for Batman to find scattered throughout the asylum, and that’s about as far his plans go in the first Arkham title).
The Riddler, as he appears in Arkham Knight.
In the later games, Eddie looks a mess. His body and his clothes are filthy. He’s obviously not taking care of himself. That is intentional as Eddie’s mental health has declined considerably over the course of the Arkham series, but in-narrative logic or no, this is still a pretty big shift away from the polished look that Eddie normally presents to the world in his other iterations. Eddie’s ruffled appearance is not a universally loved change, but even this isn’t the primary issue. No, that would be the style of his traps.
This is where the Saw comparisons truly come in. The environments in the Arkham series are grungy and distressed, in general, and Eddie’s traps are no different. They’re industrial, they’re rundown, and they’re outright falling apart in some places, each covered from floor to ceiling in barbed wire and exposed pipes. To top it off, the lighting is universally dim, and the color palette is overwhelmingly washed-out, resulting in a bleak, no-nonsense style experience.
Sound familiar?
What’s more, Eddie reuses assets throughout his projects which, while understandable given the format, still causes the rooms to feel less unique, less special. In fact, they all start to blur together after a while, particularly as their appearance doesn’t change all that much in between games. Arkham-verse Eddie never utilizes a special theme; it’s the same look in every title.
Now, compare the trap from the Arkham games to the two death puzzles depicted at the top of the post. Those two set-ups are hand-designed to fit a particular theme or to tie into a very specific narrative. They’re sleek and stylized and perhaps even a little silly, but then Eddie’s a very theatrical person; he loves putting on a show! It isn’t so much that these two puzzles are less deadly, because they definitely aren’t, it’s that they’re vibrant and fun (for Eddie and for us)! This isn’t to say that the very serious spinning metal blades in the rotting warehouse are bad, just that they’re different from Eddie’s norm in most other mediums.
To reiterate: one style isn’t necessarily superior to the other, but different styles will evoke different reactions, particularly when they diverge from established trends.
TLDR; I don’t think people are actually put off by Arkham-verse Eddie stuffing people into death puzzles. I think they’re put off by his choice in hostages, his rigged riddles, and his overall change in style.
Now, this isn’t a post meant to deride Arkham-verse Eddie, or his fans. If you love him, that’s perfectly fine! I like many aspects of the character myself, and I’ve had a wonderful time solving his puzzles and beating his challenges. But the Arkham interpretation does present a pretty significant departure from many of his established traits, particularly in terms of his puzzle and trap designs, not to mention his overall aesthetic, and it’s worth acknowledging that.

From what little I played up until Alexander's battle to get out of Fort Joy , the main issue with the game were some ridicoulous decisions in the mechanics. But unlike Skyrim or Oblivion, these flaws aren't so fundamental as to the only way to "fixing" them would be to completely remake the whole game. Let There Be Tooltips! Click to expand The remaning mods in whatever order you want to Last edited: Sep 28, The mod author of the Divine War Overhaul has apparentely released a new improved overhaul in the end of last year: Divinity Unleashed Like the previous mod it touches all mechanics and values of the game, but this time not only are the changes more extensive but due to the help of the Norbyte Extender some systems function in ways that weren't possible before. I think the reworks of the mod will be to the liking of most codexers: Mod Features said:. Armour Overhaul: No longer acting as two separate HP bars, the armour you build now behaves as static damage reduction. Hybrid parties are better than ever before. Status Simplicity: No status, even from mods, is resisted by armour or any other kind of mechanic. Instead, statuses from both the base game and other mods have been rebalanced for immediate application. New mechanics: Cooldown reduction, status extension and more add a fresh coat of paint to the gameplay you love. Lightweight and Immersive: Divinity Unleashed's features are unintrusive and let you pile on as many mods as you want, letting you play the game your way. And yes, that means no more random bosses Turns Galore: Turn-skipping status effects have been made scarce, allowing for faster-paced combat. Even modded statuses have been predictively altered to fit this style. Build Freedom: Offering more build freedom than ever before, Divinity Unleashed puts hybrid parties, healers and tanks on even footing with a comprehensive overhaul of character progression. Not in the mood for cheese? Telekinetic instant kills, infinite resurrection chains and sniping enemies miles away outside of combat have been scripted into oblivion. Get ready for a challenge! Superior Balance: Thanks to an in-depth reworking of core game skills and mechanics, the Damage Meta is a thing of the past. With an even playing field, any sufficiently planned build is viable. Might and Magic: Enemy resistances are squashed down to size and bosses no longer generate immunities on higher difficulties, gaining other buffs instead. Witches and wizards alike are more viable than ever. Permanent Summons: Summons now have infinite duration, but while active, the skill used to summon them remains permanently on cooldown during combat. Summons are encouraged to cast before combat and keep alive. Go ahead and slap it on an existing save file. This mod won't bite! These mods are all in the Steam Workshop, so for those of you that don't possess the Steam version, here's a site that let's you download those mods. Found this custom Adventure today. It's a recreation of the a 4th edition DnD campaign called Pyramid of Shadows. Also here's a fun gauntlet of challenges - Arena Challenges. Pretty much multiple high level fights against various custom Bosses. Since these are "Adventure" mods user made campgains for DOS2 , all the mods in first 2 posts work with no problems. The game is unplayable without it. With the DND-like scaling the max HP at level 20 will be around instead of I already have the link to "No Bloat Tactian" on the original post. Besides Divinty Unleashed much like Divine War has a different Vitallity progression from the main game. I tested on some high level encounters level 30 and enemies with a well developed Constitution had around of HP - plus take into consideration even the weakest attacks do around dmg. Finally since the armor system in Divinity Unleashed acts as it always should damage reduction Vitallity isn't that important in the long term anymore. Six-man is such a relief as you're not constantly switching between companions. Unleashed is solid, the initiative mod is a clusterfuck unfortunately as initiative is the main flaw in the base game. Cool list. Would like to try out the "Summon Rework" and "Additional Summons" mods, but I afraid I would have to restart the game. Although there are some odd choices like a enemy scalling mod and another that makes companions AI controlled. Desiderius said:. I found a mod on steam that adds a respec item inside Fort Joy but it says: " This mod is deprecated and unsupported with the addition of Larian's new Respec Mirror ". If it does indeed exists, can it be added on an ongoing campaign? The "official" respect mirror on Fort Joy is a Gift Bag mods that Larian has made a an official free add-on. You have to open the Gift Bag menu on-game to activate them. SoupNazi rial billionaire. The "no bloat" mod just makes the game extremely easy. Like, ridiculously so. And the game is already too easy on tactician if you've played through it once. I like Divine War, the Initiative fix, and all of Odinblade's class mods. Some of the QoL mods like leveling up equipment etc. I would steer away from the "enemies are not psychic" mod, again, makes it laughably easy especially if you're playing an undead. The major problem of this game is that it forces you down a narrow path through the gargantuan level differences, in most acts you have to take a certain route in order to survive. But that's not solved by the bloat reduction, that just makes the doable fights ridiculously easy and the hard to impossible fights just easy to normal. It has a good story that should be experienced, and after that, the replayability is in the fights which should be kept difficult and to the level you should be at. SoupNazi said:. I like the Epic encounters or whatever it is called mod better than those in your list combined. AI should never use a knockdown arrow if they see I'm at full physical armor, they should be using netherswap and teleport correctly to abuse mass corpse explosion, all the necro combos, apothesis, skin graft etc. It's not fun to get obliterated by an AI character so powerful that a comparable spell of yours just does less damage, but on those very rare occasions where the AI does something genuinely clever, it almost feels like a real chess match. If you compare the way fights happen in the arena mode so between equally leveled characters controlled by players and in the game, there's always gonna be a stark difference. And while I don't expect AI to be as creative as a human, the truth is that over the years the game meta has been combed through times over and we now know what is the most effective, but the AI doesn't make use of it at all. That to me is the only serious stain on the game, but I am a fan. It's by no means perfect, but the fact that the AI hasn't been updated to the knowledge unearthed by players is what I find disappointing. Then again, that disappointment stems from the fact that the devs update the game even now, years after release - they just don't update it to my liking. If they haven't touched it since, my disappointment would probably be lesser. You must log in or register to reply here. As an Amazon Associate, rpgcodex. Top Bottom.

Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition for PC - Patch 1.02 is now available. Thank you for all of your reports and posts; following Patch 1.01 our teams have been working hard to address more issues in Patch 1.02, which is now available to download. This patch aims to resolve some of the more frustrating crashes we’ve been seeing since launch. While development on the Horizon Zero Dawn expansion The Frozen Wilds is in full swing, we're still finding time to add improvements to the main game. Last month's Patch 1.30 added a new difficulty setting called 'Ultra Hard' which, as the name suggests, provides a greater challenge for hardcore Horizon Zero Dawn players. Today's patch adds a difficulty level that does quite the.

Inquisitor Ask Meme
1. Race:
Human
2. Class/Specialization:
Warrior/Champion
3. Your homeland?
Ferelden. It’s cold and muddy, a lot like Canada. And I love dogs.
4. Your family?
Dicks.
5. Who were you before?
The same person I am now.
6. Would you be religious?
Philosophical? Yes. Spiritual? Yes. Religious? Never.
7. Do you have a mabari?
See: “I love dogs.”
8. Your opinion on other races?
I’d probably roll my eyes a lot at the Dalish, the Dwarves that still live underground, and any Qunari who follow the Qun. They’re all so set in their ways, so conservative and opposed to change, that I’d never be able to get over that. But City Elves? Surface Dwarves? Tal Vashoth that aren’t murderous savages? I could get behind those.
9. What would Varric’s nickname for you be?
“Smiley.”
10. What would your tarot card look like?
Probably some variation of The Hermit.
11. Where would you hang out in Skyhold?
Probably in the cellar. It’s away from people, has that one big ass codex book, and I could play with the shinies in the vault and play the Quizcuisition.
12. What would you do for fun?
Everything I literally just said, plus hang out with Bull and Sera. Probably discuss philosophy with Solas.
13. What armor would you wear?
Heavy.
14. What would your room look like?
Pretty plain and unadorned, with some books heaped in a corner.
15. Who would be your friends at Skyhold?
In order: Bull, Solas, Sera, Cassandra, Varric, Harding, Josephine, and Dorian. I don’t think I’d get along too well with Vivienne, and while I love Leliana, she became a little hard after DA: O. Yes, you can unharden her, but she’s not the same Leliana that she used to be. She doesn’t sing for joy “just because” like she used to, and I miss that.
Blackwall and Cullen aren’t really my go-to friend type, and say what you will about Cole, but I’m not entirely convinced he can have friends, at least not in the sense that we take the meaning. Can he care for people? Sure. But I imagine trying to be friends with Cole is like trying to be friends with a cat. You can be companions, you can show affection for one another, but there’s a fundamental disconnect beyond that. And now both the Cole fans and the cat lovers are going to come for me.
16. Would you have any friends outside of the Inquisition?
Doubtful. The Inquisition’s a big responsibility.
17. Who wouldn’t you get along with?
I’m a pretty amiable guy. I can get along with just about anyone, so long as they aren’t a self-righteous prig, or openly value ignorance. Or if their name is “Anders,” but that’s a different game.
18. Who would you romance?
Well, given my real life plumbing, and who that is compatible with in-game, probably Cassandra? If anyone at all. Probably no one. I see Cass as more a friend than a romantic prospect.
19. Would you do pranks with Sera?
Uh, duh doy. Who wouldn’t?
20. Would you sleep with the Iron Bull (casually if not romance)?
No. I don’t swing that way. However, I can’t deny that the thought has never crossed my mind.
21. Would you keep Cole around?
Yes. I said I don’t think we could be friends. I didn’t say I was repulsed by him.
22. Can you play the game (politics)?
Hell yes, I can.
23. What would be on your tombstone in the fade (What are you afraid of)?
“Happiness.”
24. Who would you recruit to seal the breach?
Uh, you mean other than the awesome lineup Inquisition already gives you? What are my options here? If I’m restricted to just the DA franchise, I’d probably add in Hawke and the Warden, as well as DA:O Leliana (see above), Zevran (I think he’d get along famously with Dorian. Think of the potential scandal), Merill, and Bethany. I absolutely would not recruit Fenris (I always side with the Mages - always), Isabela (I love her to pieces, but I would absolutely not trust her in the face of demons for, well, obvious reasons), and Anders. Because fuck Anders. Oh, also Sebastian, because fuck that guy, too.
25. Opinion on Mages versus Templars?
Both sides have a lot of good points, but I refuse to create a second class of humans because there exists the potential for corruption/demonic possession. There has to be a way to prevent demons from possessing Mages. We’ve seen people become bonded to Spirits, we know there’s a way to cut Mages off from the Fade (and made Tranquil), and we know there’s a way to cure that. There needs to be research and action down that avenue.
26. Who would be put in charge of Orlais and why?
This one is complicated, but my favourite route is the Celene/Briala power couple. They’ve both done shitty things to each other (especially Celene), but I hope they can learn to overcome that and try to approach one another as people more than just people that are the living embodiment of their titles/positions.
Also, yes, I know Celene usurped Gaspard’s better claim to the throne, but a better claim does not equate to competence. Celene is a deft player at the game. Gaspard is a battle axe.
What’s more, his open defiance of diplomacy (Celene’s approach to the Templar/Mage rebellion) and his revolt against the rule of law with force are open invitations for future challengers that this kind of thing is okay. Out of the three of them, Gaspard is the better person. He is most definitely the better general. But he isn’t the better ruler.
27. Would you sacrifice the Chargers?
Never.
28. Would you go after Blackwall?
Yes.
29. Would you drink from the well?
I fully believe that knowledge must never be lost, and I’d never trust it to Morrigan. I like Morrigan. I will listen to and take her advice. But I would never, ever trust her with that kind of power and knowledge.
30. Where would you go if the Inquisition was disbanded?
I’d go and see if the Red Jennies were recruiting.
31. How do you react to the egg telling you he is an elven god?
I’d choke the shit out of him until he saw reason and then noogie his stupid bald head until he begged forgiveness and then I’d tell him it’s okay and to never do it again.
Tagging my Dragon Age peeps. You know who you are.

Ms. Calendar: Wrong and wrong, snobby. You think the realm of the mystical is limited to ancient texts and relics? That bad old science made the magic go away? Mm. The divine exists in cyberspace same as out here. Giles: Are you a witch? Ms. Calendar: Mm. I don't have that kinda power. 'Technopagan' is the term. Giles lets out a chuckle. Ms. Calendar: There are more of us than you think. Giles: Well, uh, you can definitely help me. (gets the book) Um... What's in cyberspace at the moment is less than divine.
