In Review
Yesterday's breakfast! The chia seed pudding had a texture I wasn't prepared for but was still pretty good. Pretty Boring day at work. Though, by boyfriend came over to my apartment for my birthday! I'm pretty excited and am planning on going to hotpot to celebrate. I am officially 22! Most of my coworkers want to party with me, which I appreciate, but I don't drink, so I thought that a big fun meal would be a good compromise. Also, I got every goal done yesterday, except for the cooking a meal, I was pretty tired after work.
Today's goals:
Take it easy and enjoy myself, It's my birthday!
Get 15 Minutes of Exercise
Be on my phone as little as possible, i want to focus on today and not accidentally scroll it away.

Zoning out while slowly munching on her bagel... She's probably wondering what Socks and Chia are doing. Midori has the Shy trait, so she has a tough time opening up to new people. I think she feels quite lonely without her friends back in Bridgeport.

that girl breakfast ideas
Breakfast is so important and it’s actually one of my favourite mealtimes, there’s just something so soothing and relaxing making myself a delicious and nutritious breakfast. If you don’t get hungry as soon as you wake up then you could always use these as brunch options or just try the less filling options instead. You deserve a breakfast that is as gorgeous as you absolutely are!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cold breakfasts:
Yogurt parfait (yogurt, fruit and granola layered).
A smoothie bowl! This is a great way to get more nutrients into your diet and as smoothie bowls are so customisable you can add all of your favourite fruits and veggies.
A yogurt bowl. Start with a base of yogurt then add a variety of toppings from honey, nuts, fruit pieces to granola.
A fruit salad. Chop up a bunch of fruits, drizzle them with some lemon and enjoy!
Overnight oats. This is one of my favourite make ahead breakfast options - you can even blend them to make them even more creamy. Pinterest has lots of great recipes and inspiration.
Granola. I love making my own granola (it's much healthier and I personally find it to be tastier). You can have granola with yogurt, smoothie bowls and milk making it super versatile and easy.
A smoothie. This is perfect for a nice chill morning or when you don't wake up super hungry.
Homemade granola bars. These are super easy to make and are great for busy, hectic mornings.
Chia seed pudding.
Homemade muesli.
Healthy banana bread. This is so much fun to make and can be eaten as a snack or served with some Greek yogurt for breakfast.
Cereal and milk/milk alternatives. This is so easy and super quick, perfect for mornings when you're in a rush. I love to add fruits like banana or strawberries to my cereal!
Hot breakfasts:
Avocado toast! If I want a more protein heavy breakfast I'll add a poached egg.
Porridge (or oatmeal as some of you guys call it). Porridge will always be a 10/10 breakfast for me, especially when I add fruits, nuts and other toppings to it.
Baked oats. These are really comforting and yummy but they do take a while to bake so probably aren't the best option for people who have hectic, busy mornings.
A breakfast bagel. My personal favourite breakfast bagel combo is scrambled eggs, rocket and avocado. Super simple but always a winner.
Banana pancakes!
Pesto eggs. If you haven't tried these yet I really recommend them.
Toast and nut spreads. I adore peanut butter toast topped with banana or blueberries, but I also love an almond butter.
French toast. To me no breakfast item is more autumn that French toast. It's one of my comfort autumn weekend breakfast foods!!
Bacon or sausages with toast and eggs. I really like turkey bacon with poached eggs and tomatoes.
Eggs. Poaches, scrambled, boiled, fried there are so many variations of eggs and they are a perfect protein packed way to start your day.
Croissants or other warm pastries. So you can live out your Paris morning dreams.
Homemade waffles. These are super easy to make (provided you have a waffle maker) and you can find healthier recipes and toppings to make them super tasty and unique!
Breakfast quesadilla's. These are so good and such a fun summery breakfast. Plus they're easy to make a lot of if you're having people over for breakfast.
Drink ideas
A matcha latte! I love matcha whether it's iced or hot. When I'm feeling energetic I make a strawberry iced matcha latte!
Green tea.
Chai. I love an iced chai latte in the summer.
A juice! My favourite juices are cranberry, grapefruit and green juice. You can make juices yourself but this can be a bit pricy, so you can always find brands you like and buy them instead.
A smoothie.
Ginger tea.
Water. I always drink water as soon as I wake up but if you find it hard to stomach in the morning try adding some lemon or cucumber slices.
Peppermint tea.

I'm still surprised by that poll characterizing oatmeal as "old people cereal". Oatmeal is AWESOME, y'all.
It's cheap, especially if you buy a bigger size. You can get really nice oatmeal brands for a low price, especially in terms of cost per serving. You can get twenty servings of nice oatmeal for like seven dollars plus tax.
It's nutritious. High in protein and fiber and complex carbs that give lasting energy and keep your digestive microbiome happy.
It doesn't spoil. Keep it in an airtight container (like the awesome metal can McCann's comes in) and it will stay good until you eat it all.
It's perfect leftovers. You can make it ahead and it reheats great in the microwave. I make 4 cups of milk to 1 cup of oatmeal on the weekend and eat it for breakfast all week.
And it's delicious. It's so versatile. It's a vehicle for yum.
McCann's Irish steel cut is my favorite. Just simmer out in the stove for half an hour while you do whatever. I use plant based milk instead of water, for flavor and nutrition. My favorites are ripple, oatly, and cashew when it's in sale. Usually ripple. The steel cut has a fabulous texture and mouth feel, and is full of fiber and protein. You can find these at regular grocery stores and Amazon.
Bob's Red Mill is also great. Their quick cook steel cut oats are also yum and a lot faster than the McCann's. I get mine at Costco but again Amazon etc. This one is less common at regular grocery stores.
And then there's the brilliance of overnight oats. Stupid easy and so delicious. Add Greek or Icelandic yogurt, some fruit, and you're good to go.
And y'all, oatmeal can be sweet or savory.
Oatmeal is great with everything bagel seasoning and a fried egg. Or bacon and cheese. Or spiced nuts. Oatmeal likes Sriracha, if you're into that. Sprinkle chia seeds out ground flaxseed or hemp seeds for extra nutrition.
Oatmeal is great with maple syrup (the real stuff) or honey and dried fruit and some nuts. Re nuts, buy the cheap tiny bits of pecans or almonds (see trader Joe's). You don't need pricey whole nuts or halves. If you want to be really fancy, toast your nuts in a warm pan for a minute first.
Oatmeal is great with a blob of nut butter swirled in.
Oatmeal is great with cream and fresh berries. I like it with coconut milk and raspberries.
It's great with chocolate chips and cinnamon and butter.
Y'all. Oatmeal is fucking great.
Love yourself and buy the good oatmeal.

Prompt-oween Day 10
@occreatorexchange
Prompt: “I don’t care what you think, pumpkin spice lattes are delicious!” "That doesn't make them a Halloween thing!"
Fandom: Cobra Kai
Characters: Alyssa Morgan-Parker (OC), Samantha LaRusso
Rating: T
Word Count: 651
Summary: Sam and Alyssa go to Starbucks after karate.
Note(s): Set during Season 3 of Cobra Kai. Potential trigger warning: disordered eating
Sam insists that she takes Alyssa home after their karate lesson ends.  Alyssa’s stomach growls to her mortification.
“I’m sorry,” she apologizes, covering her face.  “I guess I was hungrier than I thought,” Alyssa admits.
Sam laughs.  “It’s okay.  It happens to all of us at some point.”
“I guess,” Alyssa agrees halfheartedly.  She’s hit by a particularly strong hunger pang.  Alyssa folds in on herself, whimpering.
Sam takes her eyes off the road for a split second to peek over at her friend.  “Are you okay?”
Alyssa straightens up.  “Yeah, just hungry.  I didn’t eat before leaving the house.”
“What?  Why not?”
Alyssa closes her eyes.  She doesn’t want Sam or anyone to think she has an eating disorder.  She sighs, opening her eyes again.  “Sometimes, I just forget or I don’t feel hungry until the worst possible moment.  I promise you, nothing is wrong.”
Sam feels a light touch on her forearm.  She glances at Alyssa.
“Can you not tell my dad about this?  He’ll just freak out about it,” Alyssa pleads.
Sam frowns.  She knows the consequences of keeping things from her parents.  But she does sympathize with Alyssa.  She also has a dad who freaks out over the smallest thing.  Sam smiles reassuringly at Alyssa.  “Fine.  I won’t say anything to your dad.”
A sigh of relief.
“If you let me stop somewhere,” Sam finishes.  “I’m pretty thirsty myself.”
Alyssa rolls her eyes, smiling.  “Alright, I can agree to that.”
***
The girls pull into a Starbucks.  The line for the drive-thru is pretty long, so the girls decide to go inside.  They are assaulted with advertisements for Pumpkin Spice Lattes and other fall seasonal treats.
“What are you getting?” Sam asks.
“Not that,” Alyssa says, pointing to a picture of a Pumpkin Spice Latte.
Sam looks shocked.  “But why not?!  It’s the best thing on the menu right now.”
Alyssa scoffs.  “Somehow, I doubt that.  I just don’t understand the obsession with a pumpkin pie-flavored coffee.  If I want something that tastes like pumpkin, I’m buying a donut or a muffin.  And it’s nearly Halloween, shouldn’t they have more themed treats for America’s favorite holiday?”
Sam appears offended.  “I don’t care what you think, pumpkin spice lattes are delicious!”
Alyssa steps back, hands raised in surrender.  “Okay, I didn’t say they weren’t.  I just don’t get the craze.  And that still doesn’t make them a Halloween thing,” she points out.
Sam crosses her arms.  “Oh, so you’re having that?”  She nods to a sign with a garish purple and green drink.
Alyssa is horrified.  “What is that?  Or better question, what is in that?”
Her friend smirks.  “That is the Witch’s Brew Frappuccino.  It’s this year’s Halloween drink.  It’s made from ice, milk, crème-flavored syrup, and a powder base.  Oh, the ‘bat’s warts’ are chia seeds and the ‘sprinkle of lizard’s scale’ is just green sugar.  It tastes like an orange creamsicle.”
Alyssa eyes it dubiously.  “Yeah, no thanks.  I’m good with an iced tea or hot chocolate and a mummy cake pop.”
Sam narrows her eyes.  “That doesn’t sound like enough.  Maybe I should talk to your dad.”
Alyssa glares back.  “Are you blackmailing me?”
The line moves.  The girls are next.  Sam grabs Alyssa’s arm.  “Come on, we’re next.”  Sam directs her attention to the barista.  “I’ll have a Venti nonfat Pumpkin Spice Latte, extra foam, and three shots of espresso.  I’ll also have an everything bagel with avocado spread.  My friend will have a nonfat hot chocolate with whipped cream, a ham and Swiss on baguette, a pumpkin cream cheese muffin, and a mummy cake pop.”
As Sam swipes her card, Alyssa glares a hole in the back of her head.  “What the hell, LaRusso?  Don’t ever do that again.”
Sam turns to her friend.  She smiles, a mischievous glint in her blue eyes.  “What, I can’t treat my friend?  I’m keeping my promise.”

Most El Nido restaurants offer vegan options with a twist. Among them is Taste El Nido - The Vegan Cafe PH, one of the best vegan-friendly restaurants located within the town proper. Taste El Nido is widely known for serving plant-based dishes and nutritious fruit shakes.
They have a well-curated menu of breakfast options, including a wide selection of eye-catching and flavorful smoothie bowls. Their vegan smoothies also come in authentic fruit flavors. It is also highly recommended to try their specialty coffee, tea, chia-infused juice, and other vegan snacks like banana nut bread. For their main entrees, they have eggplant lasagna, Mexican chipotle rice bowl, mac and cheese, and pesto tomato cream cheese bagel.

Home to the famed fire-wood brick oven pizza in El Nido, Trattoria Altrove is an exclusive Italian restaurant that hints a Filipino-inspired interior design and promises authenticity that roots back to pizza’s birthplace—Naples, Italy. Trattoria’s signature hand-tossed dough that makes the famous Neapolitan pizza uses fresh ingredients cooked in a brick oven with intense heat that locks down natural flavors of all the ingredients.

Kitchen & Bar HUB is the in-house restaurant partner of Frendz Hostel in El Nido. They offer food & drinks from around the world as well as Filipino specialties. It's also a great spot to mingle and meet new people because a lot of tourists also stay here.
Big Bad Thai, on the other hand, is a rustic-themed restaurant that serves the most authentic Thai dishes in town. From the famed Pad Thai to Pad Krapow, Big Bad Thai perfectly curates their dishes based on the original Thai recipes. What sets this El Nido Thai restaurant apart from the rest is its homemade sauces with varying levels of spiciness. They also serve vegan options such as Som Tum (spicy green papaya salad) and Thai Morning Glory (fried spinach with garlic and oyster sauce).
After this filling food adventure, we started the El Nido night escapade with a good whole-body massage before hitting the bars for some night cap.

Apart from the available seats inside where one will be able to truly feel the tribal vibe SAVA is aiming for through their colorful wall paintings, the bar also features cushioned seats on amphitheater-style cemented seating at the garden beachfront.
This Beach Bar, apart from their cocktails and food, takes great pride in their place’s ambiance. This is in great connection to the thematic music nights born from the different DJs turning SAVA into a place incomparable to what it was the previous nights. Their Happy Hour promo is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and experience their selection of classic cocktails with a twist!
We had a few more drinks in Pangolin, and the rest was history.
