1: absolutely NO Christians! I hate christianity with a burning passion, i think all Christians are apart of a dirty disgusting system that has only lead to the pain and suffering of millions of people and if i could i would go back in time and blow up the Catholic Church with 20 separate hand grenades.
2: i’m a huge fan of sonic and am in genuine belief that he’s moral code is the only correct one. I will not go in depth here (thats for a later post) but i truly believe that sonic is more a true jesus figure then that of jesus himself. If that upsets you BEGONE

I'll give my answer here: I'm not in support of it given that I believe that baptism needs to be a conscious decision. That said, I'm not opposed to infant/child dedications.
Edit: I had previously said that I'm not stalwart in my view, but what I should have said was "I am willing to reconsider if I can see a good arguements otherwise", because THAT is where I'm at.

What I DON’T understand is an older congregation recognizing that they need a younger pastor to shake things up and bring a younger demographic into their church, (because the healthiest ((and most effective)) churches have a wide age range), hiring such a pastor (who promptly goes about doing what they wanted him to do, reaching out to the community and bringing in a lot of younger people and families), and then LEAVING because they’ve “aged out” and can’t keep up with the next generation, and they’d rather attend a church that has more people their own age. You wanted this to happen, where are you going? Don’t leave the younger generations without any elders to guide them. We need each other.
#I’ve seen this happen in more churches than my own#i dont understand it#the older people are migrating away now that we have lots of young families#so there’s going to be imbalanced in the other direction#and ive heard from many of these people that they’re ‘not comfortable’#I’m sorry but I think a part of it is that younger people are leading ministries now and the older ones don’t want to follow them#didn’t paul say something to Timothy about this?#not begrudging the youth of people who are willing to hear gods call to step up and serve?#christianity#christian discourse

Entry #023
Radicalisation
The online world is NOT representative of reality.
I've spent too much time blocking accounts, lately. I want this side account to be specifically for Christian stuff, so I've been exploring different tags... and saw many queerphobic posts in them. Especially against trans people.
It always baffles me that this kind of radical thought is so spread out, I blocked over 30+ accounts within 48h. It baffles me, because everything said in these posts is so... untrue, in real life. There's always bad people, heck queer people don't always get along. But it's the same condition as "normal people": we're just human, and so much nicer and more compassionnate in real life compared to online.
Trans women are the first people to stand up alongside cis women.
Trans men are confident in their gender.
Non-binary people are some of the most understanding and polite people I know.
Intersex people matter and are included in the LGBTQ+ community.
And shout-out to my genderqueer and genderfluid people, who we can learn a lot from to better understand how we relate to gender norms and how to love ourselves.
To anyone reading this who has a negative view of trans people... I understand. It's hard to have an accurate idea of trans people when you don't meet any. We usually refrain from coming-out because of those exact spread-out beliefs. And the online world doesn't make it easy! Queer people who bully and are generally mean definitely play a role in the views I saw. Just like we, trans people, can generalize too due to bad online interactions.
But I urge you to meet people. Meet people at LGBTQ+ conferences, speak to your trans cousins, start a conversation with your partner. Ask them everything you ask of us! What's makes them... them? How come they are heterosexual rather than anything else? How would you proceed if they were LGBTQ+ and hated themselves? How would you comfort the people you care about when the world bans their existence?
These are questions all queer people, especially trans people, had throughout their life. I answered them myself and shared my answers with God. I promise questionning yourself can only be good: what's wrong with wanting a deeper understanding of the self, and wanting to know what kind of person God made you to be?
I wish you well, truly. I love cisgender heretosexual people. You're all wonderful, wonderful friends, wonderful family... We all matter in God's eyes. I love you. Can you love thy neighbour too?

I learned that Real Christianity was Gay Friendly when I was in high school through a friend named Brittany who was a Christian and an Ally, this is when the whole Healing Journey began
I really need people to realize and respect that queer Christians can and do exist.
They are not wrong for being queer and they are not wrong for being Christians. They are not traitors to their faith and they are not traitors to their queerness.

ok maybe an unpopular opinion but I think Christians on the Internet need to internalize Romans 14:4 more ("Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand."), especially when it comes to how other Christians spend their money.
I saw a post going around about some Christian super bowl ad (which btw I haven't seen, so I'm not speaking on the content of the ad) which suggested that the Christians who spent money on the ad (as opposed to using it to help the homeless) were not only not disobeying Jesus but were not actually saved. Now I wouldn't personally spend a bunch of money on an evangelistic ad campaign, but if even grievous sins aren't enough to separate us from the love of God, how on earth would a lapse in wisdom? Presumably, the people behind the ad sincerely hope it will lead people to Christ and save souls from hell. This wouldn't be so annoying if I didn't see this kind of thing all the time, and invariably "helping the homeless" seems to be the only way Christians are allowed to spend their money -- even when churches are using money to meet other practical needs, like disaster relief in other countries or paying off church members' student loans, they are often decried for not using the money to help the homeless.
Like, yes, help the homeless, of course! But you are also allowed to pay off your friends' debts, or fix your church's leaky roof, or sponsor a missionary, or help out a single mom, or, yes, even distribute evangelistic material. Even I've spent some money printing Christian zines -- am I therefore not a real Christian, too?

I want to say congratulations on your degree, because college is hard. Now onward.
I understand how what I said can seem condescending, it wasn’t my intention, my intention was to be gracious, but I had a billion things going on in my brain as I was writing, and I meant to say that what I was saying was of course based on my experiences, and what I know to be true from them. And I understand that. So I’m sorry for coming across that way. It wasn’t my intention.
Yes “God set a boundary” is an interpretation of what happened, but also it is what happened. God told Adam and Eve that there would be consequences for eating of the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil, and when they did that, he was forced to make a choice he didn’t enjoy, or relish in. And because of the choices of Adam and Eve, He was unable to allow them, and therefore us, to live in his presence without some kind of intervention. As far as Christianity is a relationship not a religion, I should clarify that it should be a personal relationship, though that is often not the case. And though those exact words aren’t in the Bible, the meaning is. If you look at how Jesus treated the Pharisees, we see that.
God is all powerful yes, and He invites everyone to love and be in his presence. However, He is also all knowing. He knows our motives for wanting to be in His presence, again looking at the Pharisees, people who would pray in the streets to show off their “faith,” Jesus said their reward happened here on Earth, they got the attention from people. They weren’t doing it to glorify God, they were trying to glorify themselves. And God is a jealous God, there are things he cannot stand for, He is the Judge, yes, and He is the King, and our Father. He has to find a balance. It hurts him to send us to be tortured, however, because of Adam and Eve’s actions, we know right from wrong, and so in doing wrong knowingly, we have to accept the consequences, all of which are laid out in the Bible. Now, there is often great conflict between what the Old Testament says, and the New Testament says, at least in the Church. And while the Old Testament is important, the New Testament is the one that gives us hope for a future in Heaven, we don’t have to sacrifice burnt offerings for our sin anymore because Jesus died on the cross, taking on all our sins, being forsaken by his Father, despite being a part of Him. Despite being God. And He did that for you. He did that for me, and for everyone to walk this earth, then and now. The process for our sins has been paid, we need only to accept the gift, if we don’t we still have to pay the price for them, but that’s each individual’s choice.
The words “it’s too painful for him” was a poor choice on my end. I can admit that, I am not perfect. Those are the words that first came to mind, and seemed right, however the message that came across was not the one I was trying to send. God made rules, and asked us to follow them, telling us the consequences if we didn’t. Which in essence is setting a boundary. He wants what is best for us, and when we choose otherwise it hurts Him, but it is still ultimately our choice. Moving on before I get caught in an unending circle of repetitive points.
Absolutely humans are born with a huge inherent capacity for forming relationships, seeking survival, experiencing pleasure, reacting to pain, and making and learning from mistakes. And these things aren’t inherently bad, nor do they make us inherently bad. Now I personally believe that we are born in the flesh, meaning before choosing to become a Christian, because it is a choice, we are more likely to sin but it’s only a sin when we know what we’re doing is wrong. And being human isn’t something to be ashamed of or feel guilty for, though I understand how it can feel that way in the church and I’m sorry that happened to you, I feel for you. As someone who is asexual, and thought they were bi for a while, it hurts. I feel ostracized by my family despite the fact they don’t know because how could I tell them. What would I even say? Anytime I try to vaguely explain I get dismissed. So yeah, it can hurt. Jesus loves us for who we are, for being who we are. Not despite but because of who we are. And I’m glad, truly, that you like yourself, and like being yourself. That is important. And I’m sorry that the Church ever made you feel otherwise.
Re: Hell, again, yes he’s all powerful, but he’s also stern and loving, He is the Lawmaker, Creator, Judge, and King. But He is also our Father. Even still that means he has to make the difficult decisions for the good of everyone.
Back to the kids with scissors, yeah, at first you teach them the correct way to hold them, not to run with sharp objects, etc. etc. you show them love and compassion. What about when they still run with scissors, when they don’t listen, or learn, what happens when they hurt themselves or someone else because they wouldn’t listen to you? God wants to prevent that pain and torture, but when we opt out of listening to His commands, his rules and regulations, we opt out of the relationship with Him. Actions have consequences, good and bad. We have to face the consequences of our actions no matter what they might be.
As far as the abuser comment goes, yeah I understand where you’re coming from. Especially looking through the lens of it being a first offense, this goes for most of what we humans consider the “minor” sins. However, small lies turn to bigger lies, to bigger lies to bigger lies, each justifying the last. Until it’s no longer a minor sin.
I know this to be true, but I also know that I’m not going to change your mind. I appreciate your insight on the topic of Christianity, truly, and thank you for the time spent reading this and discussing, I’m willing to continue if you’d like, however I fear we will just be repeating the same points we already have, and just keep going around in a circle. I hope you have a lovely rest of your day, whatever that may look like for you.
Look, we joke a lot, but really, "you were born evil, wretched, worse than the scum of the earth, and it took killing a god to make you salvageable, so now you'd better be grateful to that god and thank him 10,000 times a day for it and fill your thoughts with him 24/7 and abide by the letter of his every word, lest you suffer unimaginable torture for all of eternity" is a truly horrendous thing to believe about yourself and other people

Genuine question, what made you come to this? Sonic as god and stuff… I’m just curious.
It’s complicated.
Since i was young i loved sonic, and for most of my life i was also a Christian, but after a car accident i was forced to stay in the hospital for months on end. None of the people of my church came, i was shunned by my community. The only thing i had was my love for sonic. i dived head first into my obsession and realized a lot of sonics beliefs made much more sense then anything the Catholic Church every told me, that i had been held back by the church, unable to fully understand myself. Eventually i came to realize that sonic was a much better savior then any fake god.
God never loved me, i would pray to him to make my sister stop tormenting me, but he never came. God was never real. Sonic may be fictional but he’s done more to keep me stable then a fake profit ever could.
When I realized fully that i was and am sonic i fully felt complete, like i found what i was missing and now, even as i sit in my chair in my room, staring at my computer screen, feel more whole then i ever did when i was a straight A student.

honestly bizarre to me that (some) progressive Christians talk about penal substitutionary atonement and Christus Victor theory of atonement as if they are opposed to one another ie "I believe in Christus Victor instead of substitutionary atonement." Like these two things are not opposites?? They are complements? Christ bore the wrath of God AND defeated the Devil, freeing the captives. An atonement theology that excludes either of these doesn't strike me as complete

I’m not catholic anymore, or even properly Christian most days, but if you are- if you believe in Jesus of Nazareth as the Son of God, you gotta believe all the way.
John 12:32 says “and I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw All people to myself” and then continues in Verse 47 “If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.”
If Jesus isn’t going to judge people for not being Christian (including those who act the way Jesus tells us to act, without believing in Him), who the hell are you to think you should?
Jesus was a Jew. Jesus was middle eastern- a person of color. Jesus was poor, both growing up and during his ministry. He lived exclusively off the generosity of others. He was born to an unwed teenage mother. His friends were sex workers, poor farmers, successful fishermen, tax collectors. He healed the children of his oppressors. He taught how to maliciously comply with oppressive governments as a form of civil protest, while not compromising one’s morals. He tempered the brash and welcomed the cowardly. He suffered a painful and humiliating death in front of a crowd cheering for his demise, that not a week ago had been celebrating his arrival. And he did not curse them, call them sinners, or hate them, he petitioned God for their forgiveness.
I don’t expect people to live up to that standard, because we’re all flawed and a little broken. But don’t call yourself any form of Christian if you’re not even trying.
I am fully aware that I may lose respect from some Catholics here on Tumblr for saying this, but I honestly do not care. I’m enraged that I even have to say this, but I’m going to anyway.
Lately, I’ve been seeing SO many Catholics on social media talking about how bad the Jews are, how they’re sinners for not turning to Jesus, and all those other sickening diatribes. So if you’re one of these people, I have a message for you.
You are also a sinner. I am also a sinner. Your neighbor is also a sinner. Your parish priest is also a sinner. Your husbands, wives, and parents are also sinners. Your bishop is a sinner. Even the Holy Father, Pope Francis himself, is a sinner.
So why, then, are the sins of the Jews suddenly so much more severe than yours or mine? And don’t come at me with all that, “the Jews killed Jesus” tripe. The Sanhedrin didn’t even have the authority to carry out the death sentence. What do you think Pilate was there for?
So, again, why are the sins of the Jews so much worse than ours, in the minds of my fellow so-called “Catholics?” I’ll tell you why. It’s because, to them, of the simple fact that the Jews are Jews, and they have the audacity to exist with us in the world. That is called discrimination, bigotry, and racism, and none of those things have any place in Holy Mother Church.
This entire discourse is rooted in hate. And hate does not come from God. It comes from SATAN. And I will have NOTHING to do with Satanic hatred of Jews, or of any group.
Because Jesus didn’t only die for Christians. He died for Muslims. He died for Hindus. He died for Buddhists. He died for Republicans. He died for Democrats. He died for black people. He died for Hispanic people. He died for Asian people. He died for African people. He died for straight people. He died for gay people. He died for trans people.
He died for us all. And yes, He died even for the Jews.
Repent, take up your cross, and believe the good news.
