circuit breaker 🔬🌌 (part ten)
tutor!jayce talis x reader, ekko x reader college au

content: you haven't spoken to jayce or ekko since last week, when everything blew up. to make matters worse today's the day of your midterm...one you haven't studied for at all.
notes: angst as usual, mentions of death, mental health, and self-doubt references. not proofread bc i rushed this one for the next chapter (worth it)
sorry for the wait with this series. im on a short spring break this week so best believe im locking tf in.
series master list
。·:*:·゚★,。·:*:·゚☆ 。·:*:·゚★,。·:*:·゚☆
Midterm week always had a certain sound about it. There was an inherent hustle to everyone's movement and a subsequent shuffling as everyone sped to their next class. It was rare to see people who weren’t completely flustered, spiraling over the anxieties of maintaining their grades. It was the same for you. When at first you couldn’t care, you were forced to realize the predicament you were in.
It was time to take your physics midterm—the biggest test to date, and you couldn’t remember a thing. You’d let things spiral out of control. You lost focus, and you let your mind be overrun by thoughts of everything but physics—which is why you ultimately failed.
Viktor sat next to you as he always did, reassuring you that it would be okay. It didn’t feel okay. Everything was drifting away from you and the worst part was realizing you couldn’t talk to Ekko about it.
The thought of your last conversation played in your mind, and then the fact that you swore you would call. You knew him, he was waiting for you to make the first move. In all of Ekko’s concerns about time and it slipping away—he always waited.
You walked in a hurry, dialing on the phone as you made your way to his place. All the normal anxieties filled you, but you ignored them. You had to repair what you ruined by being careless.
After a short walk, you arrived. He hadn’t answered the phone which was unlike him. This didn’t deter you though. You knocked on Ekko’s door, tapping on your foot in anxiety. The sound of your own ragged breaths rang in your ear until your phone dinged in your hand. It was him.
i need more time, im sorry.
Your brows furrowed as you typed your reply.
ekko please we have to talk
please
i’m sorry
i should’ve told you as soon as she showed up but i had good intentions you have to believe me
He didn’t respond—he didn’t believe you. It was all your own fault, too.
As immature as it was to do so you stormed away. Almost immediately after rounding the corner you collided with someone else—bumping into their shoulder hard.
“Shit I’m sorry.” You said it to nobody in particular, but out of obligation for whoever it was. Looking up, your breath caught, startled at the frazzled woman in front of you.
“No worries, you okay?”
You inhaled sharply, your entire frame rising and stiffening. “Mel, hi.”
“Oh—hi! We know each other right? Jayce is your tutor?”
“Yeah,” you nodded. The reply dragged out leaving the space between you empty before you continued suddenly. “Sorry for your loss.”
Mel gulped; she was seemingly in a good mood before this. You fought against your intuition that said that maybe you shouldn’t mention Kino. On the other hand, though, it seemed disrespectful to just not acknowledge him. Despite all of this she handled your remark with grace, in a way only she could.
“I appreciate that, thank you.”
Feeling like that was all that needed to be said, you stepped around her to leave. “Okay, bye-“
“Wait-“ Mel cleared her throat. “When’s the last time you saw Jayce?”
“I haven’t seen him since,” you paused, thinking better of mentioning the actual reason why you haven’t spoken to him. “Since our last session. That was a few days ago.”
“It’s just that he’s always talking about you and then all this week…not so much. Is everything okay?”
“Yeah,” it came out faster than you intended, suspiciously so. “We’re good!”
Mel pivoted on her feet and turned the direction she noticed you were heading. “You going this way?”
You didn’t speak, just nodded with a soft smile.
“Can I walk with you?”
You hardly knew her, in fact only made awkward eye contact in passing. Trying to recall a time you actually exchanged words seemed like a waste—knowing you, there was probably small talk and nothing more. She was being kind though, friendly.
“Sure.”
The two of you shuffled next to each other, steps out of sync but parallel on the sidewalk.
Mel spoke first, looking at you out of the corner of her eye. “I worry about him—Jayce.”
“Really?”
“Mhm. He takes everything so hard. Like somehow everything that’s bad is his fault and his fault only.”
“Like it’s his responsibility,” you added, “Noticed that myself.”
That got a chuckle out of her and an agreeing nod. “He cared a lot about Kino…we all grew up together and it was inevitable that they'd be close. Bro before hoes or whatever.” She exhaled a deep breath, looking ahead. “There wasn’t anything anyone could’ve done to prevent what happened to my brother. I tried to tell him—he just wouldn’t listen. Now he’s acting all overprotective. I needed some time away from him.” She raised a hand, money in between her fingers, “Supposed to be getting myself something to eat—he insisted on paying.”
“That actually sounds exactly like something Jayce would do.”
You kept walking, not really having a place to go but enjoying the company for once. Mel led the way, though, easily crossing the street and pausing at respective stop signs.
Mel continued, an apprehension lacing her tone, “Whatever he did, whatever he said, he didn’t mean it.”
She read you both like a book, the clear discomfort in you now.
You replied with a slight chuckle, not at all convincing her she was wrong. “No—me and Jayce are good. I’m fine-“
“He’s not.” She stopped walking and looked at you, “Talk to him please.”
You started walking again, turning after Mel onto a side street. Part of you wanted to say no, stand your ground. The other, though, was concerned. It didn't help that Mel was so convincing either; you could tell she really cared. “Okay, I will. I'll talk to him.”
“Thank you, really.”
“It’s no problem.” You looked ahead, Mel stepping up onto a porch. “Oh, we walked you all the way home.” A laugh escaped you, not even realizing how long you’d talked with her.
Mel smiled softly, turning to knock on the door. After some shuffling a voice called behind the door.
“Mel, you literally have a key…also you left it unlocked...again.”
The door swung open. “Sorry, old habits.”
Jayce looked past Mel, observing you on the curb in front of his house. Your throat tightened as you swallowed. He broke the eye contact he was making with you, glancing at his friend.
He whispered, “What are you doing?”
“I’m going to get food—then I’m going home.”
“No, you should stay-“
“I need to be home.” Mel’s resolve was breaking, everything catching up to her. “Please.”
Jayce just looked, reluctantly agreeing with Mel.
She continued, turning to walk down the porch steps. “Besides, you have company now.” With a wave back she walked closer to you and placed a reassuring hand on your shoulder. She didn’t look at Jayce, but spoke to him. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
As she walked away you became painfully aware of yourself—how you awkwardly stood in the middle of the walkway.
“So are you gonna come in, or should I shut this thing?”
His face, now with a hint of stubble, was less serious than you expected. Jayce seemed remorseful and you felt the same; he wasn’t the only one to blame.
You chuckled, walking up the stairs. He let you step beside him before jokingly moving to inch the door shut.
“Maybe shut it when I actually cross the threshold asshole.”
He laughed, too, looking at you fully now. “Yeah, I’ll make sure to do that next time.”
“Thank you,” without thinking you curtseyed slightly—pulling an imaginary skirt dramatically.
He watched you freeze, clearly taken aback by your own action. He stifled a laugh, watching you slowly stand as he closed the door.
“I,” you cleared your throat, “I have no idea why I just did that and I’m so embarrassed right now.”
“Don’t be,” he led you away from the door, back to you. “It was cute.”

CHAPTER 1. CIRCUIT BREAKER

warnings: i think there's nothing, but let me know if I should add anything
word count: 3.9k
CHAPTERS
*dividers from @bernardsbendystraws
It had only been a couple of months since the disaster in New York. A couple of months that had been so chaotic, they felt like years. Still, all in all, things had gone pretty well. In fact, Bob was sure these had been the happiest and most peaceful months of his entire life. He’d found something he never thought he would: a family.
Granted, some people would call it a dysfunctional family—he knew because, even without his own phone, Yelena would sometimes let him borrow hers. That’s when he’d inevitably fall into the rabbit hole of reading online forums where people couldn’t stop talking about the so-called “New Avengers.”
He didn’t like that name. It sounded too grand, like it came with a sort of glory none of them felt they deserved. He still preferred "the Thunderbolts," the name Alexei used to shout with such enthusiasm. Honestly, they all seemed more attached to that name. Bucky still called them that, and their group chat bore the same title. But Valentina was adamant that the other name sounded more heroic.
And even though he didn’t love the idea of being part of something so public, he had to admit it gave him a certain kind of pride. Not the traditional kind, the one that made you feel superior—but something more personal. The kind that came from knowing that despite all the odds and the unconventional way they’d come together, they kept moving forward.
“He’s doing it again,” John muttered, raising an eyebrow in his direction.
“Leave him alone,” Ava replied.
“What am I doing?” Bob asked, only just realizing they were talking about him.
“That thing where you smile to yourself like you’re in a toothpaste commercial,” John teased.
“I wasn’t smiling,” Bob said, looking to Ava for backup.
“You were,” she replied without even glancing up from the device in her hands. “You do that sometimes. You look at all of us and you smile.”
“I’m not mocking you, I swear,” he said, raising his hands in surrender. “It’s just... you know, this is the closest thing I’ve ever had to a family.”
“That’s not a bad thing,” Starr clarified, finally looking up at him. “But Walker’s not used to that kind of appreciation. He’s an idiot, so people usually look at him with more disapproval than anything else.”
“Hey!” John protested.
Bob didn’t mind being with them. He just wasn’t fully used to it yet. Out of everyone, John was the most emotionally distant. Ava wasn’t so bad, though still fairly reserved—yet she was the one who made the biggest effort to connect with him.
But the one he liked being around the most was Yelena. Bob had always wanted a sibling. He believed that if he’d had one, maybe his life wouldn’t have been so terrible. Maybe he would’ve found the strength to be better if someone had looked up to him, learned from him. Somehow, Yelena filled that void.
She wasn’t what he’d imagined a sister would be. She wasn’t warm all the time or especially patient. In fact, she could be infuriatingly sarcastic, brutally honest, and seemed to enjoy testing his limits just for fun. But she was loyal. She stood up for him even when the others didn’t know what to say, and she pulled him out of his own head when he started slipping too deep inside.
He didn’t know if she saw him the same way, but she was there for him, no matter what—and that was enough.
“Do you know when Yelena’s coming back?” he asked curiously.
“Why? Is everything okay?” Ava asked quickly—probably because Bob had a tendency to look for Yelena when things started going wrong in his head.
“Yeah, yeah, everything’s fine,” he assured her with a small smile. “I just wanted to know.”
“She shouldn’t be long,” John replied. “It was a recon mission—nothing too complicated. She and Bucky should be back this afternoon.”
The mention of Barnes drew attention from the other person in the room. Antonia, who had been quietly reading one of the books Bob had finished, hadn’t paid them much mind until a certain super soldier came up in conversation.
“You two really should work on that weird codependence you’ve got going on with Barnes and Yelena,” Walker pointed out.
Truth be told, they’d all been surprised that Antonia seemed calmer and safer around Bucky. But it made sense once they found out Bucky had spent some time training the Widows in the Red Room—not a short stint, either. It turned out he’d even trained a young Antonia. He didn’t remember much of it—just some scattered flashes—but she clearly remembered every moment. To her, Bucky was tied to some of the only good memories of that time, which John found personally offensive, considering Antonia had tried to kill him more than once, and she still had a hard time remembering they were now on the same side.
“My therapist says it’s normal,” Bob mumbled with a shrug, then turned to look at Antonia, who nodded in agreement.
“I think you should work on your intolerance,” Bob added.
“It’s jealousy,” Antonia said. “He just wants someone to need him too.”
Walker let out a laugh—though it sounded more irritated than amused.
“Please. I don’t need anyone to need me. I’m perfectly fine on my own.”
“Sure,” Ava said dryly. “That’s why you joined a team of emotionally unstable people.”
“I joined for the paycheck.”
“Sure you did.”
John was about to fire back when the doors to the room swung open, revealing Yelena and Bucky. They looked far too exhausted to be standing, but thankfully, neither of them seemed injured—a fact that made the four people already inside exhale in near-unison relief.
Barnes dropped his heavy backpack with a thud and shuffled over to the couch, collapsing into it without a word. Antonia studied him, scanning for any sign of injury. Bucky simply smiled at her, a quiet gesture to let her know he was fine.
Yelena, on the other hand, let herself fall to the floor, resting her head in Bob’s lap. He looked down at her with a soft smile and tapped her forehead gently.
“How’d the mission go?” Walker asked, earning a sharp glare from Bucky.
“You’ll get one of those mission reports you love so much tomorrow afternoon,” Yelena replied. “Everything’s fine. If it weren’t, you’d already know.”
“Yeah, let us rest,” Bucky mumbled.
John just rolled his eyes and decided to take their word for it—there was no point arguing with two people who looked like they were held together by sheer willpower at the moment.
“How about you guys?” Yelena asked, her voice muffled slightly as she looked up from Bob’s lap.
“Well, Bob didn’t turn into his… dark half, so I’d call that a win,” Ava pointed out.
“We all went to therapy,” Antonia added.
Bucky gave a slow thumbs-up from the couch.
“We had to drag you there,” Walker accused.
“You good?” Yelena asked, looking up at Bob.
“I’m good,” he said with a reassuring smile.
And it was true. Everything was good. It had been good. Almost too good. Which wouldn’t be strange for anyone else, but for someone as broken as Bob, feeling good was suspicious. Those quiet days when everything felt like it might finally be okay only reminded him that the emptiness—the darkness inside—was always waiting. Like a black tide behind a cracked dam, ready to surge the moment his guard dropped.
Bob had learned to recognize that false calm, that illusion of emotional balance. It wasn’t peace. It was the calm before the storm.
“Hey,” Yelena whispered when she noticed how still he’d gone. “Don’t go too far, okay?”
He blinked, coming back to himself, and nodded with a weak smile.
“I’m right here.”
She couldn’t remember exactly how long she had been there. In that place, time didn’t exist. Space didn’t either. Just darkness—vast and consuming, stretching out endlessly until it wrapped around everything.
Sometimes she thought she heard echoes, fragments of her own mind bouncing against the void. Other times, those echoes felt too foreign to belong to her.
The Threshold—because over time she had come to call it that, without really knowing how she knew the name—wasn’t just a place. It was a state. A kind of fracture between realities, an in-between dimension that obeyed no known logic. There was no aging there. No dying. But no living either. It was like being suspended in the final second before waking… or falling.
She wasn’t alone—not completely. There were entities, presences that had never taken shape but always seemed to be watching. Some were hostile. Others only seemed hungry—hungry for emotions, for painful memories. The kind Senna had in abundance, drawing them in like moths to flame.
Over time, she’d learned a strange kind of symbiosis with them. She couldn’t control them, of course, but she had learned how to stay alive. She offered them just enough to keep them at bay, without surrendering completely.
Life there—if it could even be called that—was a relentless loop of her own pain, as if the Threshold was digging into her mind to find the deepest wounds and replay them over and over. The voices had gone silent the moment she stepped in, but the pain remained. So did the memories. And yet, Senna had learned to see them differently—outlining their shapes, tracing their borders, and understanding them as things that had happened before the Threshold. As if that pain belonged to someone else. Another life entirely.
There was no “after,” of course. But she had learned to coexist with it. In there, at least, no new pain came. Just the same familiar ache that had followed her since childhood. It didn’t destroy her completely, but it didn’t let her heal either.
And then came the change.
It was a strange feeling—like something inside her had been numb for so long and suddenly… something. She couldn’t name it yet, but it was there, spreading across the Threshold, filling the void with an invisible current.
She searched her scattered memories for a comparison, and all she could grasp was the image of a door—just a crack, barely visible, letting something in. Something nameless. A connection between this place and the world she had left so long ago.
Whatever had changed, it hadn’t happened only within her. The Threshold itself had begun to behave differently. The entities—always lurking—were retreating, hiding, as if sensing something more powerful drawing nearby. Something they didn’t understand.
The void no longer felt entirely hers.
And that brought something—an emotion? She wasn’t sure it was possible after so long. She didn’t even remember what emotions truly felt like. Her body had long adapted to the damp, suffocating air of this place, but inside… there had only ever been pain.
Then, like a spark in her mind, she understood.
It wasn’t just a sensation.
It was someone.
Someone was calling her.
Not with words—at least, not yet—but with enough force to demand to be heard.
And Senna, who had been silent for so long, wanted to listen.
The door to her room flew open. It was still dark out, the middle of the night, and even though she hadn’t been asleep, she didn’t appreciate the interruption. Her brows furrowed when she saw Bucky standing in the doorway, breath uneven, his expression enough to put her instantly on alert.
“Lena. It’s Bob.”
She was on her feet the moment she heard it. No more words were needed to know something was terribly wrong. Especially because if something was wrong with Bob, then it was only a matter of time before the entire world went to hell.
Yelena followed him in silence to the room where Bob was. He was sitting on the edge of the bed, motionless, bare feet hanging over the floor—and painfully obvious was the shadow stretching out beneath him.
“Hey, Bob… you okay?” she asked gently, not wanting to alarm him more than he already was.
“I don’t know,” he murmured, voice trembling as he shook his head firmly, like he was trying to push the thoughts away.
“Is it him again?”
Yelena took two slow steps forward, but Bucky immediately grabbed her arm. He still remembered the last time—the way she’d vanished when they first faced that side of Bob. He wasn’t about to risk it happening again.
“It’s… different. Strange,” Bob whispered, staring at his hands.
Usually, when the void began to take over, he could feel it starting inside him, spreading slowly outward, like ink dropped in water. He knew the signs by now. But this time, when he woke from the nightmare, the darkness had been outside of him.
He didn’t know how to explain it. The void was still a part of him, but it was reaching outward, not inward.
“Try not to listen to it, Bob. None of what it tells you is real.”
“But… it’s not saying anything this time. It’s quiet.”
Yelena frowned, glancing at the shadow creeping from under his feet, unnaturally calm. Bucky loosened his grip slightly—this didn’t feel like the last time.
She leaned toward him and spoke softly.
“Wake the others. Tell Walker to contact the authorities and be ready to evacuate.”
He didn’t argue. He turned and rushed down the hallway to carry out her request. Then Yelena stepped forward—and this time, Bob stopped her.
“Yelena, don’t,” he said, his voice thick with anxiety. “I don’t want to hurt you.”
“It’s okay,” she murmured, lifting her hands, still moving closer. “I’ve been there before. We got out. We can do it again.”
She didn’t know if that was true. But she was willing to try, if it meant he wouldn’t face this alone. She’d promised him that much.
The air had grown heavier, thicker—like every particle was soaked with something that didn’t quite belong to their world. Yelena felt the pressure in her ears, like diving too deep underwater.
She took another step.
“Did something happen?”
“No,” he said quickly, shaking his head again. “No, I was asleep… I was dreaming and… I don’t know. They felt like memories. Bad ones. But they weren’t mine.”
“Whose were they?”
He didn’t answer right away. His jaw was clenched, his body still trembling. He rubbed his hands together, then dragged them down his face as if trying to steady himself. The truth was he had no idea. He’d never felt anything like this before. It was like being in the void—but not. Because someone else was there. Not like the people the void had swallowed in New York. This was… different.
“Bob?”
The more he thought about it, the more it consumed him. And the harder it became to hold onto himself. He didn’t know how to separate it. Something else was spreading inside him, cold and relentless, carving roots deep into his core.
“It’s like… like my thoughts are being invaded, bent out of shape, twisted. I can’t stop seeing things, Lena. I can’t stop hearing them.”
The shadows around him stirred, responding to his distress. Yelena didn’t move—but she saw the darkness creeping closer, nearly brushing her boots. She didn’t step back. She wouldn’t. She knew the only way to bring him back was to go in.
But when the shadows reached her, nothing happened. They didn’t pull her in, didn’t drag her into that strange room of twisted memories. Instead, they simply kept spreading, swallowing the room, the walls, the ceiling—turning everything into thick, unnatural black.
Yelena glanced around, trying to focus on something—anything—but couldn’t see past her own nose. Still, she knew this wasn’t the void. She was still in the tower. At least she wasn’t trapped in one of those rooms that forced her to relive her worst moments.
“YELENA!” She heard her father's voice, coming from the living room—or at least that’s what it sounded like.
“He wants to open a door,” Bob said suddenly, his voice so desperate it sent a chill down her spine.
“Come on. We need to find the others,” she said, even though she couldn’t see a damn thing. “Can you see anything?”
“A little.”
“Then you’re guiding me, because I can’t see shit. Got it?”
“Got it. Where are we going?”
“Wherever the others are.”
They moved slowly, relying on memory to avoid bumping into furniture—trying to recall the layout of the place with enough precision to navigate the dark. As they advanced, the air grew heavier… or maybe it was running out. Yelena couldn’t tell. Every breath felt shorter than the last, as if the void were stealing their oxygen with every step.
Soon, the silhouettes of the team came into view, becoming clearer the closer they got. Everyone looked confused, but unlike the first time, no one seemed disoriented or trapped in visions from the void.
“What is this, Robert?” Walker asked, jaw clenched as he took two steps forward.
Bob stepped back, but Bucky moved in front of him, blocking the path.
“Stop talking to him like this is his fault,” Barnes warned.
“Then what the hell is happening?” Ava cut in, arms crossed, eyes sweeping the space around them—so dark and unnatural it seemed to swallow the light from the few working devices.
“I don’t know...”
“Is everyone okay?” Alexei asked.
The question was for the group, but his attention flicked toward Yelena—and occasionally to Ava. Everyone nodded… except for Antonia.
Her gaze was fixed somewhere deep in the shadows, as if trying to make sense of something the rest of them couldn’t see. She was trembling, her breath unsteady.
“Tonya,” Bucky called.
She didn’t answer. Instead, her eyes snapped to John—and something in her expression shifted for just a split second before she lunged at him, attacking without mercy.
“I thought we were past this, Toni!” Walker shouted, trying to block her strikes without hitting back.
Almost at the same time, the shadows began to withdraw toward the walls, revealing more of the room—but then they started to emerge from them.
They came out as stretched, shapeless creatures with elongated limbs and massive claws. Their eyes glowed like burning coals.
They had no mouths, but their presence carried the same weight as a piercing scream.
"It's not me, I swear!" Bob cried out, curling in on himself as the creatures swirled around him.
They looked enraged, attacking him without mercy like ravenous crows driven mad by the scent of wounded prey—but they were attacking the others just as fiercely. Ava immediately turned intangible, moving through the creatures like a specter, searching for weak points—if they had any.
Alexei stepped in front of his daughter, fists raised, while Walker finally managed to restrain Antonia, who was beginning to regain consciousness, gasping and dazed.
They were pure shadow, which meant none of their abilities really worked against them; bullets passed right through, and punches only dissipated them for a second before they reformed. Bucky cursed under his breath, landing blow after blow with no real result—just fleeting moments to reposition.
"This isn’t working!" Yelena shouted, rolling across the floor to dodge a claw that struck the ground before vanishing like smoke.
"We have to hug, like last time!" Alexei shouted; arms open wide.
"This isn’t like last time!" Walker snapped, throwing himself in front of Antonia to block a strike with his still-dented shield.
"What do we do, Lena?"
The blonde looked around, clearly lost. She honestly had no idea what to do. It was obvious that Bob had nothing to do with this—and if the Void was acting through another means, then she had no clear idea of how to contain it.
IT HURT—OF COURSE IT HURT. But it had promised her she’d get out. She just had to push a little harder.
The pain went far beyond the physical. It felt like every muscle in her body was being stretched to its limit, tearing apart, reforming, and tearing again in an endless loop. But it was her mind that was truly being shattered. The most painful memories of her life repeated over and over, and just when she thought she’d grown used to it, the Void found new ways to seep into the cracks.
There was no rest. No pause. Every memory bled through with unbearable clarity: the screams, the losses, the wrong choices. Everything she had buried, everything she had learned to silence with force or fury, came flooding back. Again, and again.
And as it happened, she asked herself why she even wanted to escape that place. There was nothing waiting for her on the other side—nothing that could guarantee the voices that once haunted her wouldn’t come back the moment she crossed the threshold.
But still, Senna held onto a fragile hope that once she was out, things might change. There was nothing to support that hope—no false promises of a better life. All that had been offered was the possibility of getting through the threshold.
It wasn’t much. A minimal promise. And yet it was more than anyone had ever given her.
So she did it. She gave it everything she had, and took the final step.
The pain stopped. And, thankfully, the voices did not follow. She kept her eyes shut, afraid of facing something even worse on the other side. She took a deep breath—the air outside was lighter than what she had grown used to inside the threshold.
Slowly, she opened her eyes, only to shut them again immediately. The artificial lights burned. After so long in the dark, even a dim light felt violent—like an attack. Her eyelids trembled before parting once more, just enough to let her vision start adjusting.
It was hard to focus on the people in front of her. But when she finally managed to see them clearly—and realized they were all armed—she stumbled back until her spine pressed against the wall.
She scanned them, one by one—every single one a potential threat.
Until her eyes landed on the blond man in uniform, holding a shield. She didn’t have time to process the fact that the uniform was different, that the shield was badly dented—she could only remember the poster that used to hang on the back of her brother’s bedroom door.
Captain America had, for a few years, been the only figure who gave her even the faintest sense of hope. Senna used to daydream that one day, he would show up and rescue her and her brother from the nightmare they lived in.
It was a childish fantasy, of course—one she had long stopped feeding. But now, there he was. Worn down. Shield damaged. Wearing an expression that teetered between caution and compassion.
Senna ran the few steps between them and, like a scared little girl, buried herself in his chest. Her breathing was ragged, and her body trembled uncontrollably—as if holding onto him could somehow protect her from whatever came next.
On January 20th, 2028, Senna Dawson was born again.
There were no fireworks. No celebrations. Only darkness and fear—just like the first time.

How did the autobots (SG) met the humans and how did they get them to join their side?
Bee met Raf because he saw the scout on a mission, and Bee had thought that he was alone. When he saw Raf, he knew he was supposed to kill him, but he thought Raf was adorable and hurting him would be tantamount to kicking a puppy, so he managed to talk the others into letting Raf stay on the base. He knows Raf finds him cute/sweet and uses this, along with the kid's lack of knowledge of his job, to keep him on his side, and eventually he loves Raf more than he's loyal to his side, something that becomes relevant later.
Arcee met Jack while on a test run of a holomatter avatar she'd bought from the Wreckers, and Jack's voice sounded just like Tailgate's, so she followed him around and just straight-up kidnapped him. He mainly isn't trying to escape because she and her species intrigue him, and he wants to know more. The Autobots consider him basically the equivalent of a curious animal.
Bulkhead met Miko while he was doing one of his shows (one way the Wreckers keep influence on people is through public image). She'd gotten into a fight with security for sneaking in, and he liked the fire in her. So he pretended she was supposed to be there and incorporated her into his show for the night, then found out her parents had died and decided it would be easy to adopt her since he already had a human identity. He had to keep Wheeljack an arm's length because he knew the guy wants to cyberform humanity. As for her Circuit Breaker mode, she ended up getting hurt because she got caught in Autobot/Decepticon captivity and he didn't want her getting hurt. So he (VERY RELUCTANTLY) allowed Wheeljack to make modifications to her so she could defend herself on the condition that he not destroy her mind/personality.
Fowler was assigned to be a liaison to the Autobots like in canon.

From Design to Deployment: How Switchgear Systems Are Built

In the modern world of electrical engineering, switchgear systems play a critical role in ensuring the safe distribution and control of electrical power. From substations and factories to commercial buildings and critical infrastructure, switchgear is the silent guardian that protects equipment, ensures safety, and minimizes power failures.
But have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes, from the idea to the actual installation? Let’s dive into the full journey — from design to deployment — of how a switchgear system is built.
Step 1: Requirement Analysis and Load Study
Every switchgear project begins with requirement analysis. This includes:
Understanding the electrical load requirements
Calculating voltage levels, short-circuit ratings, and operating current
Identifying environmental conditions: indoor, outdoor, temperature, humidity
Reviewing applicable industry standards like IEC, ANSI, or DEWA regulations (especially in UAE)
This stage helps engineers determine whether the project needs low voltage (LV), medium voltage (MV), or high voltage (HV) switchgear.
Step 2: Conceptual Design & Engineering
Once the requirements are clear, the conceptual design begins.
Selection of switchgear type (air insulated, gas insulated, metal-enclosed, metal-clad, etc.)
Deciding on protection devices: MCCBs, ACBs, relays, CTs, VTs, and fuses
Creating single-line diagrams (SLDs) and layout drawings
Choosing the busbar material (copper or aluminum), insulation type, and earthing arrangements
Software like AutoCAD, EPLAN, and ETAP are commonly used for precise engineering drawings and simulations.
Step 3: Manufacturing & Fabrication
This is where the physical structure comes to life.
Sheet metal is cut, punched, and bent to form the panel enclosures
Powder coating or galvanizing is done for corrosion protection
Assembly of circuit breakers, contactors, protection relays, meters, etc.
Internal wiring is installed according to the schematic
Every switchgear panel is built with precision and must undergo quality control checks at each stage.
Step 4: Factory Testing (FAT)
Before deployment, every switchgear unit undergoes Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to ensure it meets technical and safety standards.
Typical FAT includes:
High-voltage insulation testing
Continuity and phase sequence testing
Functionality check of all protection relays and interlocks
Mechanical operations of breakers and switches
Thermal imaging to detect hotspots
Only after passing FAT, the switchgear is cleared for shipping.
Step 5: Transportation & Site Installation
Transportation must be handled with care to avoid damage to components. At the site:
Panels are unloaded and moved to their final location
Cabling and bus duct connections are established
Earthing systems are connected
Environmental sealing is done if installed outdoors or in dusty environments
Step 6: Commissioning & Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
This final stage ensures the switchgear is ready for live operation.
Final checks and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) are performed
System integration is tested with other components like transformers, UPS, and generators
Load tests and trial runs are conducted
Commissioning report is generated, and documentation is handed over to the client
Conclusion
From idea to execution, the journey of building a switchgear system is highly technical, safety-driven, and precision-based. Whether you’re in power generation, industrial automation, or commercial construction, understanding this process ensures you choose the right system for your needs.
