Summary: Y/n explains everything that happened after Natasha's sacrifice and they're looking for someone after that.
Warning: Just a bit sad and a hint of fluff-
Song for this series
Y/n's Second POV
"That's what happened. We thought Tony would survive, but the impact was too strong. He's strong enough to survive all of these. But Poor Morgan. She's still looking for Tony." Your eyes dart following Natasha's glance as the both of you hear footsteps approaching both of you, and you see Morgan walking towards where both of you are sitting on the porch.
"Mora honey, you should be sleeping darling." Morgan rubs her eyes as she sets on top of you, sitting before lying on your chest, whining softly.
"I want Dad..." You almost tear up when she says that. All of you missed Tony. You couldn't move on from what you and Natasha witnessed as you arrive back in time.
Steve was sitting by the lake, and aged. You can still remember the smile he had on his face as he told all of you.
"We had 2 beautiful kids. One look just like Peg, and the other one, like me. Haha. But seeing Howard having Tony is the funniest thing. He cradled that one like a ticking bomb."
"Why are you not sleeping with your mother Mora? She must be lonely, sweetie." You kiss the top of her head, feeling the girl hugging you tighter,
"She's in the library... Does Mom don't love me anymore?" Your face softens from her question and you look at Natasha, seeing her with a sad smile.
"Sweetheart, everyone loves you so so much. Your mother loves you the most honey. Don't say that драгоценный (precious)" You cup her face softly before letting her sleep on your chest and Natasha wraps her arm around both of you, while looking to the sky, piercing your eyes through the night.
Timeskip (The next day)
Y/n's POV
You walk into the kitchen with yesterday's mug in hand when your eyes meet with Bucky's.
"Morning sleepyhead." You scoff while putting the mug into the sink, washing them and you feel a pair of arms hugging you from the back.
"утро, шикарно (Morning, gorgeous)" You feel Natasha peppers kisses along the back of your neck, leaving you fluttering with butterflies everywhere after months you haven't felt like that.
"When's your wedding? I haven't attended one for quite some time. Please get a room too." You can hear Sam's voice echoing in the kitchen and when you look around, you can see almost everyone is in the kitchen, except for Morgan and Pepper.
"Oh shut up, Sam. Be blessed that we have Tasha here. I'm more than blessed and grateful right now." You hug Natasha close to you, still feeling like you're the luckiest person on earth right now.
"Well, get married, have lots and lots of kids, and maybe start your own academy since the both of you are assassins."
That's true. Both of you are Black Widow. But you're one of the lucky ones to escape without track. The only Black Widow that managed to cover yourself without being detected for years until Nick Fury founds out about you from the breach of the Red Room, meeting you up with another Black Widow who's stuck in your head for days, weeks, months.
Thanks to happy-go-lucky Wanda who surfs into your head and expose you to Natasha. But how lucky you are to have that woman liking you back after years of being just very close friends.
Natasha's condition might not be reversible, but you didn't reach the graduation ceremony like how Natasha and her sister, Yelena went through.
"Yup. She's gonna be the one carrying them. Not me. I'm willing to be the full time maid." Natasha suddenly blurt out and make your jaw drop.
"I'm not a factory!" And that's when Sam replies,
"Well, I bet. I swear if Nat has a dick, you'll be knocked up year after year- Oww!" You throw a wooden ladle to Sam's head, knocking him falling to the back before he holds the wall and straighten himself up.
"And one more thing! There's a 5-year-old living with us. Please! Language! Gosh, I sound like a mom. Bloody hell." You look at Natasha and you nod,
"I'm like a mom right?" And Natasha nods, chuckling softly while cupping you face,
"You're going to be a good, marvellous and magnificent mom to our little one okay?" She says with a smile, pulling you into a soft, short kiss, before pulling away and that's when you tell her,
"I think we need to look for someone first." The only person that comes to your head is one.
Yelena.

Just a small reminder of how MCU changed not only Clint but also Kate...this scene has them switch dialogue in the show.

How To Save A Life
Clint immediately flops to the ground as soon as he's shot. He can feel bullet hit him right between the ribs. As much as he tries to get up and save Vance, he could feel the pain and the bleeding.
"Clint stay down you're hurt!"
He can hear his wife, Cathy yelling and a bunch of gunshots. All he can think about is Vance and how he shot him. He just wants to know his brother's ok.
"It's alright, Clint. I'm here."
He can feel Cathy move him into her arms. He's not aware of all the blood coming out of both entrance and exit wounds. He keeps trying to sit up despite Cathy's protests.
"Cathy where's Vance? Ah gotta talk ta 'em."
Despite the obvious gunshot wound it's like he can't even process that. Vance is all that matters. He only settles down when he sees Vance in front of him. He can see the blood dripping down Vance's arm but it wasn't as bad as he originally thought.
"Ah'm right here, Clint. Ah'm right here."
That's when the waterworks start. Even though Vance would most likely survive, Clint just feels nothing but guilt. He's practically hysterical.
"Vance! Vance, Ah didn't mean it! Ah didn't mean it!"
Vance puts a hand on Clint's wound trying to stop the bleeding. He understands the severity of the situation and that Clint needs to calm down. He knows that if he doesn't, Clint could die.
"Ah know ya didn't, Clint. Ya don't have ta tell me. Everythang's gonna be alright."
He wipes Clint's tears away and almost like magic Clint calms down. No one knows if it's because of the blood loss or because of pure exhaustion, but Clint seems to run out of steam. He smiles weakly at Vance.
"Everythang's gonna be alright."
He passes out right in Cathy's lap. She kisses his forehead while Vance looks around for a horse. He takes his shirt off in the process.
"We gotta plug the wound, Cathy. Does he got a wound on his back?"
He opens up Clint's shirt and uses his own to plug Clint's abdominal wound. Cathy finds the wound on his back and tears pieces of her own clothes to make bandages.
"Do you think he'll live, Vance?"
Vance sighs as he looks at the damage. He sees a teenaged farm boy on his horse passing by. He quickly rushes up to him.
"Hey mah brother's dyin! Can we take yer horse?"
He sees Clint's condition and dismounts.
"Yessir."
He helps Vance as they quickly get Clint's unconscious body up on the horse. Vance mounts it as Cathy manages to find their own horses.
"Here we can follow Vance with these."
They mount and follow Vance as he races back home.
Time Skip
Clint's now resting in his bed comfortably. Vance looks at the local doctor who helped them.
"Ah made sure ta give Clint some laudanum. From the looks a it he'll pull through if he makes it through the night. So long's he don't keep bleedin' he'll live."
Vance and the family sighs as the doctor leaves the room. Vance turns to the boy who gave up his horse.
"Ah oughta pay ya fer yer troubles, boy. Wha's yer name?"
The boy comes forward looking a little shaken.
"Mah name's Pacer. Thank ya sir."
Vance gives the boy some money.
"Now why was ya out there in that valley? Ah ain't ever seen anybody out there 'cept fer mah brothers."
Pacer looks very nervous.
"Um. Ah... Ah'm half-blooded Kiowa. Somethin deep down in mah gut tol me that Ah needed ta go out an help someone. Ah guess it was a good thang Ah did. Yer brother looked real pale when Ah saw 'em."
Vance pats his shoulder.
"Ya did a good thang then. If ya want ta, ya can stay the night here."
Pacer nods.
"Thank ya, sir. Ah hope yer brother makes it."
He leaves the room. Ma ushers the family out too so she can watch over her son.
"Mah poor baby."
She frets over him despite Clint being unconscious. She just wants to do everything she can to make sure Clint's comfortable while he sleeps.
Time Skip
It was a very restless night. No one knew whether or not Clint would live. All they could is use prayer circles and hope that God wouldn't take the baby of the family.
"Ma, Clint sounds like he's whimperin'."
She looks over to see Clint weakly fidgeting in his sleep. She takes the eye dropper of laudanum and sits down on the bed.
"Va-Vance!"
It's clear Clint's having a nightmare about shooting Vance. Ma tries to soothe him by rubbing his hair. She puts the eye dropper under his tongue.
"He jus needs ta be still 'gin."
Once the laudanum kicks in, Clint settles back down. Everyone tends to him throughout the night. They know it's all they can do just so they have peace. Even if Clint dies, they want to at least say they were there and made him feel comfortable.
Time Skip
Tumblr media
"Ma?"
Ma sees Clint wearily open his eyes.
"Yeah baby?"
Clint is very out of it but still tries to speak.
"'M Ah dead? Don't feel no pain."
She smiles knowing that her baby's on cloud nine and isn't suffering. She rubs his hair and speaks gently.
"You ain't dead baby. Yer just on laudanum. Go back ta sleep now."
He tries to ask for Vance but she shushes him.
"Vance?"
“We’re all ok baby. It’s alright.”
Unable to fight the soothing feeling of his momma’s hand Clint’s eyes droop. Even though he’s now a grown man, Clint yawns like a little kid and falls asleep again. Ma kisses his forehead.
“Ya just sleep well baby.”
Clint softly snores as she leaves the room. Vance immediately stands up.
“Ma?”
She smiles gently at him.
“We best be thankin the Lord today, Vance. Mah baby’s still alive. He woke up.”
Vance is about to say something when she holds her hand up.
“Ah knew by his eyes he was still under the laudanum’s spell so Ah told ‘em ta go back ta sleep.”
Vance hugs her.
“Thank the Lord indeed, Ma. Ah thank him fer sendin that Pacer boy ta us. Because a them mah baby brother’s still alive.”
Everyone in the Reno household all sit around each other basking in the feeling of hope. They all hope that one day Clint would make a full recovery. At the same time they know to be relieved that the greatest danger had passed. Everyone was able to sleep peacefully for the first time in a long while. And Clint Reno was the most peaceful sleeper of all.
An: Framed as a what if story, I wondered how everyone would act immediately after Clint was shot. Today is Elvis’s birthday and for the past couple of days my discord besties were talking about what would happen if Elvis somehow did survive so I took inspiration from that. What better way to pay tribute than to write a story about hope in spite of tragedy. In a way that was who Clint was and that’s who Elvis was. If you want this to have a part two leave a comment below.
@xanatenshi Is this what the type of story you like regarding Clint and Pacer’s friendship? Please leave a comment.

THUNDERBOLT AND LIGHTFOOT (1974) Grade: B
This had to feel a little ahead of its time during release right? It's a bromance crime film with Eastwood and Bridges. Jeff Bridges steals the film. Gutsy ending.
