Danny moved out of his hometown at the age of 24, with far too many mental scars and a master degree in biology under his belt, driving around the country until finally coming across the right city for him — Gotham.

The apartment he managed to bag wasn’t anything special. In fact, he has learned to resent it quite a bit; there was paint chipping off it’s walls, cockroaches everywhere that meant inconvenience to him, and most annoying of all… those who run across his roof every night. Each time Danny had been awoken at 3AM to footsteps echoing in his ears only made him more and more ticked off.

And one night, he decided to act on that anger.

Jostling at the sudden sound of stomping reached him, Danny blinked away whatever grogginess that pinned him against the bed. He shifted across the mattress and stood up, approaching a window nearby within his room to dig both hands underneath its glass to open it up — flinching as cool winds embraced every inch of his skin.

“Hey!” The raven haired man yowled outside with a sneer. “Keep it down, will ya?! Some people are trying to sleep!”

Danny blinked in surprise when two wide eyed stares looked back at him. One was covered by a black cowl with faux ears pointed up at each side, while the other’s popped out compared to the bleached skin around it. Gawking, he realized just who he yelled at.

They were Batman and the Joker.
