My hot take is that if Roman were to "duck out" the way Virgil did in Accepting Anxiety, the result would be something akin to clinical depression. Roman has always been more than Thomas's creativity, he's also Thomas's drive, his passion, his desire. The motivation and ability to make art, or work, or even build relationships. All of that is wrapped up in Roman.
Sure, there are other motivating factors as we've seen in the videos on the topic. Logan motivates with the knowledge that work puts food on the table, Virgil motivates through fear. But Roman is the only one who motivates through love and joy, through hopes and dreams. Because while Patton is driven by emotion, he's more impulsive, more driven by what will make Thomas feel good in the moment, as opposed to Roman who while fanciful and emotional, is ultimately driven by plans and goals for the future.
Therefore, without Roman, Thomas would have no drive. No passion. No desire to make or do anything beyond base necessities for staying alive. No ability to see past immediate survival or imagine a possible happier future. No hopes and dreams. No spark. I don't even think Virgil's strongest panic could override a complete lack of passion for anything. Thomas would feel anxious and awful, but he still wouldn't be able to do anything.
And that's basically what clinical depression is. It's not just being sad--it's being exhausted, and numb, and unable to get out of bed in the morning because you just don't care about anything anymore. It's not finding joy in the things you used to love the most. It's feeling paralyzed because there are so many things you should be doing or you want to do, but you simply can't. Depression is, at its core, a lack of passion, joy, and drive.

Cdream be like: You can't put yourself in the Prison anymore bc of the woke >:(/lh
That man is a mess like it's facinating how messy his vision of reality is for others and himself
it is fascinating fr, and does remind me of how we'd talk a little bit about how his perspective may betray what kind of environment this guy might've been in pre-dsmp. the stick-up-his-ass about rules and rule-following, the neuroticism about conflict, and the ease with which he jumps to punishment as being the appropriate response to people who cause problems (a perspective that, quite evidently, to a certain extent, does apply to himself, doesn't it?) all seems quite indicative of someone who lived in an environment where punishment being the natural consequence of stepping outside the lines was generally something that went unquestioned. of course, this is speculative, and it's not that a #tragicbackstory is necessary to explain what the fuck is up with c!Dream, and it's hardly about justifying the choice to abuse a teenager into behaving, lmao. but while exile served his goals and exile was a lot of petty, spiteful cruelty for petty, spiteful reasons, i do think there's something to be said about how clearly c!Dream hadn't expected c!Tommy to respond quite so severely to exile and how he thought he would be "fine" with potatoes in the prison and the language he used both about exile and his own early prison stay about shit like "getting better" through punishment. of course, punitive justice as a norm is kind of ingrained in our own society (just look at the rhetoric around deserving in this fandom, lmao, which speaks more than well enough for itself) and of course that reflects onto the dream smp as well, considering how many of the characters talk quite freely about the idea of punishment/deserving/what have you, but few characters are quite as obviously a stickler for rule-following as c!dream and exile and then prison are uhhh definitely on the more extreme end of things. anyway. just some food for thought

Edit that I tried to imply with my goofy third option: this is not about anthologies or otherwise episodic series-es. This is about, like, A Tale of Ice and Bone and Roses and Blood and Shadows, book 3 of 7.

Jenny was possessed by a creature that had killed multiple other people. Eyghon attempted to tempt her boyfriend to 'take advantage of [her]' body which she had no control over. She was brought back from the brink with Angel's hands around her neck - the vampire who inflicted great trauma upon her people, the consequences of which she had to bear the burden of (and that, lest we forget, ultimately led to her death.) Three weeks later she was still having trouble sleeping due to what she endured.
That is such a violent, intrusive experience and yet that plot point is wrapped up with... Jenny feeling the need to apologise to the man who (however unintentionally) was the architect behind what happened to her - because she was 'harsh' when telling him she needed more time and space.
'You make me feel bad that I don't feel better.'
So not only is she dealing with the emotional and mental fallout from her experience, but Giles is repeatedly sulking around her because her recovery isn't quick or nice and tidy. I'm glad she got to shoot him with a crossbow.
For all her humour and lightheartedness, Jenny is a character whose foundations are build upon brutality and the show never once stops to tend to the gaping wounds such experiences leave - rather punishes her for them. Let's not even get into common strands of fan discourse around her reaction to the events of The Dark Age because that's a whole other can of worms.

I get you about the hetero vibes of JD. Like there are CPs who act like they have been married for years and I am inclined to believe that and there are CPs who are just happy their job is to flirt with their homies and they lean into it. The latter is JD to me. Like no matter how much they would flirt, I won't believe they are actually together. I can belive they are best friends, even soulmates but not a couple
yep, exactly! i mean, JD also act like they've been married for years in a way, but as i mentioned in my other reply, it just feels like more of an inside joke and feels much more platonic than romantic
and they most definitely have fun flirting with each other. i think it's as entertaining for them as it is for us. especially for joong. i think it's a well known fact that no matter how insane you think you are about JD, you can be sure that joong is more insane about JD than you are. and i fully support him in that <3
#asks#anon#joongdunk#adrm#sometimes i have to think about that one time my bestie and i were at this weekend retreat we've been going to for years#and not everyone that shows up knows each other all that well#so going around in a circle with everyone stating their name is sth we often do on the first night#often it's your name and how many times you've been there is the common info to give#but this one year we were asked to state our favorite ''something'' of our own choice in addition to the above#originally i was gonna name my favorite animal#but then i had a better idea#everyone was listing favorite color/favorite song/favorite food etc#normal stuff you know#and then. after we'd gone through like half the people. then finally it was my turn#and i went#''my name is [airenyah] i've been here [n] times and my favorite person in this room is [bestie]''#cue the entire room awww-ing loudly#was what i said true? hell yeah#does it mean i'm in love with her? no i'm absolutely NOT in love with her#did i say that specifically bc i know she's tired of my sappy shit and i KNEW she'd roll her eyes at that? absolutely and most definitely s#(btw she DID roll her eyes and it filled me with great satisfaction)#(the entire room was going ''awwww'' and all i personally cared about was my bestie's eyeroll dfjkjkdskjd)#anyway sometimes JD's flirting has that sort of energy#where it feels like it comes from a place of truth but they're mostly just saying it bc they're waiting to see a reaction#either from each other or from the audience (or both)#but idk i might also just be projecting you know#(though i HAVE noticed that they and i feel like esp joong?? will often seek approval after saying flirty shit)#(flirty lines will sometimes be followed up with a เป็นไงล่ะ or เป็นไงๆ - ''how is it?''/''how was that?'')#(and often that's directed to the audience or the host)#(which again just kinda reinforces the notion that they are NOT dating for real)

Mercy and Trust
By Aester R. Holly
In the presence of Mercy,
There is Trust;
In the presence of Trust,
There is Mercy.
To think of it as one and another
Undermines the whole scenario,
For we all dwell in Mercy
Every instance we give Trust.
When we walk the mortal coil,
We are at the mercy of Fate
and trust she be kind each morning.
When the sailor rides wild seas,
He hopes the waves have mercy
and trusts they'll carry him home.
When the driver takes to suburban waters,
She's convinced that others have mercy
and found a mutual trust.
When the baby puts a foot forward,
Mercy comes at the hands of a parent
and Trust follows until the body fails.
However,
When I trust, I'm at one's mercy
And that scares me to death.
Because when I trust my eyes,
They catch movement never there;
When I trust my nose,
I makes my head spin;
When I trust my touch,
It only responds to pain;
And when I trust man,
I cling so tight
and I ball my eyes out,
Since it's the closest I can get
To the one known as God.
The presence of Mercy
Means that there's also Trust;
And, when they come together,
They are Faith.

“There will be times when the struggle seems impossible. I know this already. Alone, unsure, dwarfed by the scale of the enemy.
Remember this, Freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction…
Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that.
And know this, the day will come when all these skirmishes and battles, these moments of defiance will have flooded the banks of the Empires’s authority and then there will be one too many. One single thing will break the siege.
Remember this: Try.”

Funny thing to explain that tends to fall on people's ears even with immense research is how versatile OCD is.
OCD simply refers to obsessive compulsive disorder. It's a disorder around an obsessive thought which distresses which then triggers an compulsion or urge that is done or is on the mind in order to sooth the obsessive thought.
Nowhere in this disorders description refers to cleaning or cleanliness so it does irk me that people still use the term "I'm so OCD" for referring to not standing mess. It's not only immesly rude but also further perpetuates the social myths of what OCD is vs the actual disorder.
I could elaborate further and have spent a long time researching the negative effects of disorders like OCD being buzz terms negatively effecting the people who struggle with OCD but that's another thought.
TLDR: OCD is not a cleanliness disorder or peak organization and schedules disorder. But an actual disorder that affects people in a variety of ways that's not silly goofy

Todd: *gets introduced*
Me: ooh his cute, wonder how he'll cope with the terrible things the others do
Todd: *murders a child with zero remorse*
Me: Oh
#still weirdly like him though#or i should say i feel bad for him#idk its hard for me to truly hate characters who do terrible things#when they legitimately don't seem able to understand the things they do as wrong#like can we truly categorize someone as evil if they have no concept of right or wrong#like a kid just completing a task because the adults told him to#the most obvious example of this mindset is how he treats jessie while he is imprisoned#going from torturing one moment to giving him ice cream the next#& not out of guilt (he genuinely dose not seem to register he has anything to feel guilt over)#but instead out the extremely out of touch notion that they could be (maybe already are in his mind) friends#it doesn't seem to register to todd at all that Jessie would obviously hate him/be afraid of him after what his done to him#in his mind they're just two guys who are close in age & work in the same field#they're “classmates”/peers/equals#& why would Jessie be mad when todd is just doing his job#similar to his infatuation with lydia#doesn't matter that she is clearly all business with him#that they have nothing in common with eachother (outside their work) & live in two tottally different worlds#she is an attractive woman his age who is in his space#so hey if he just keeps talking#keeps perfecting the meth#then eventually she'll like him back#just like Jessie now “likes” him back#i saw someone online describe Todd's “relationship” with lydia#like a kid who dosn't understand that the teacher they have a crush on dosn't see them the same way#& his relationship with Jessie (onced imprisoned) as a kid who asked their guardian (jack) for pet#& i have to agree#breaking bad#todd alquist

@cxpperhead asked:
𝐒𝐄𝐗𝐔𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍𝐒 & 𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 // 3. what are some features of others that attract them from the outset?
in all my years of rping hikari has had several constants when it comes to partners to the point its a running joke. Not necessarily a physical feature but she tends to be drawn towards people of an INTJ personality type. Now, you may think this is absolutely fucking stupid and to your credit it Absolutely Is, but three of her ships are her with an INTJ man. This includes Straizo, Tenmei ( @eyesofemerald, though not an active ship was smth we floated several times and are still great friends that are sometimes intimate + aster ), and Stella's Blueverse Riddler incarnation ( @sci-the-superb love you peach ).
Visually she does have a slight preference for men. For masculine preference she likes them athletic or 'built' and a little androgynous. For feminine preference she also likes them built but she prefers sharper features ( eyes, jawline, ect ). She also is into people that are taller than her, which isn't hard, but the taller the better.
she's also a monsterfucker but that's neither here nor there.

I was lumped in with the goths during my school years*, and for sure I was horrifically depressed when I wasn't psychotically manic and had common interests like graveyards and depressing poetry and gory imagery and other morbid fascinations, but whenever I did hang out with the Goths (we weren't super super tight like BFFs or something but we got along when we hanged) I was a ridiculous contrast in fashion lol.
Standing in with a group of teenagers who for whatever quirk were all taller than me despite being around the same ages, who were wearing all black or the occasional blood red, in various states of the entirely casual-suitable for the opera fashion spectrum of fashion, often with multiple piercings and eyeliner at the very least,
was this barefaced and metal-less scrawny and smol being in a bright yellow graphic t with some stupid slogan of a meme that was outdated even by then, or a tie-dyed shirt with the Joe's Crabshack logo on it, and incredible baggy jeans that were held up by variously colored scarves because my body shape even while rail thin was awkward with regular belts and my pants would still slide down unless I tight laced a chiffon scarf as uncomfortably tight as I could around my waist, sludge gray Velcro shoes because my inconsistent growth spurts meant I had awkwardly sized feet and for whatever reason the only suitable shoes I could find in my size at the time were Velcro, occasionally a faux gold vaguely intricate Walmart bracelet around my upper arm because it made me feel Ancient Grecian, and the peace day resist ants was, because I was also in a M*A*S*H phase since I was completely fixated on the equally bipolar and similarly undiagnosed Hawkeye, I went to the army surplus store and bought an olive green boonie hat that might have come from the Korean war era but might have been from 'nam I don't remember and I was constantly wearing that everywhere.
Anyway there's no real point to this and I regret to inform you that I never took a photo when hanging out with the goths and it's not like smartphones were mainstream enough that any of us could afford one yet, but I'm just picturing this group hangout from the outside and how it must have looked lol
*(for all that meant in the high school era, cliques weren't really a thing by then and if you had friends you prolly had multiple groups of friends based on whatever specific common interest or just what class/lunch you were in, we were all impoverished as fuck so like. Elitism was never really a thing with some notable exceptions *cough*ableism*cough*)
