I know it's par for the course for stuff like this but like it'd be super cool if I could be at all sure what the hell is going on in my brain (explanation below, talk of ramcoa suspicions)

So,,, okay I didn't post about this on here yet but about a month ago I found a thing I wrote while freshly out of the cult, when I was trying to figure out what the hell was up with my dreams, and it pretty specifically outlined how trauma programming works. I wouldn't have had any reason to know what that was or what it did, and I properly learned about trauma programming at least three years later. I also have no reason to believe that it might've been an influence of any stories I'd read, none of them that got even close to the topic were in depth enough for that. So either that, or it's coincidence, which is pretty damn slim.

(by the way, side note that this wasn't exactly new-new news to me, I'd approached the possibility of having been subject to ramcoa a couple years ago and processed that, but finding no indications either way has been very frustrating! So I actually felt happy and justified/vindicated when I found that)

Last week I also learned of some more recent child abuse/harassment at the cult I was in, from a former student a couple grades down who was taking a class with my brother at the college I go to. Before that I already knew of at least one staff member who consistently harassed and preyed on younger students, including a close friend of mine. So there is definitely some background for systemic abuse within that particular microcosm.

Before I found the dream journal thing, I'd been tracking various unexplained symptoms I have and keeping common forms of ramcoa programming in mind. At this point I'm fairly sure I sustained CSA at some point growing up, from the variables I know were present and the symptoms I have.

It's not only that though, there's various other symptoms that are still completely unexplainable to me. To name a notable one, at one point one of the main trauma holders in my sys was extremely dissociated and shut down, having flashbacks for a month straight after accessing some repressed memories which we still haven't consciously gone through. There was also an instance when several similar alters were found who were isolated from the rest of the sys, and didn't "come out of" a trancelike state or heavy masking until our gatekeeper told them a particular phrase to let them know that they didn't need to do their job anymore. There's also decent reason to suspect repeated CSA, based on the actions of particular alters.

I've learned how to do responsible research of ramcoa (barring times when I've been in a triggered trancelike state and felt drawn to engage with triggering topics), and the frustrating thing is that there's not much at all that lines up. Finding the dream thing was a big advance for me in this whole case. Right now I think I have solid reasons to suspect CSA, and decent reason to suspect programming, but if I did sustain programming then I get the impression that it wasn't totally intentional. Like, that whoever did it wasn't really aware what they were doing, and it just happened to turn out the way it did. There definitely wasn't the kind of organization or secrecy to pull off "proper" programming, I can gather that much from what I know.

Idk exactly why I'm posting this but I felt like giving a bit of an update about more serious stuff. So hey if you got to this part of the post, congrats? lol. Feel free to comment or respond to this or whatever, that's entirely fine with me

Ended up pirating all of Hazbin for the sake of my younger days (used to be a fan when I was around 14/15, before all the stuff with Viv came out) and I am so surprised by how I felt... nothing for the most part. Like a lot of the show's storylines feel like they was crammed in there with no real pacing. A lot of this should have been season 2 territory, which is a sentiment I've seen echoed around, but also... it feels as if the show is trying to be episodic while also having a long narrative thread, which just doesn't work with just 8 episodes. Especially not when paced like this. So I kinda ended up feeling nothing for the most part. All the events got a "Oh, great, so what?" reaction out of me because there was little to no buildup to most of them.

Sir Pentious was always a fave of mine so I was glad to see they kept him around and, though I think we should have had more episodes with him as a villain, I think how he ended up was fitting for what little of an arc he had. I am livid about what they did to Cherri and Mimzy.

I fucking loved Mimzy, I have no idea why they sent her away -- having someone like her at the Hotel would have been a blast considering how the others are already on the road to redemption. She would have balanced it out by being a regular sinner, someone who doesn't care about redemption and won't probably ever care unless it's in her best interests to. Plus her friendship with Alastor was quite cute, they bounce off of each other very well imo. Plus I could see her have a bit of a conflict with both Charlie and Vaggie because of her ways of acting. I'm so sorry they took that from you girlboss.

And Cherri... dear lord where WAS she? She should have been a lot more present. I used to like her relationship with Angel and I even think Cherrisnake is cute conceptually, but both these relationship had... little to no room to breathe imo.

Now I am absolutely NOT saying that a gay character cannot be flawed or even downright evil. Being gay doesn't make someone inherently bad - or inherently good. Gay people are humans - and just like any other group of humans are capable of the full range of human complexity. However, when the ONLY gay character is like this it feels like their negative personality traits are tied to their gayness. (Just like if Dumbledore was the only straight character it might feel like the author was was casting aspersions on the morality of straight people - even if that wasn't her intent).

Also it's so weird because there were so many other characters that are very frequently read as queer - including Tonks, Lupin, Draco, and Sirius. Not to mention HARRY POTTER himself. But nope. JKR was extremely resistant to anyone even suggesting these characters might not be straight (lol joke's on her - she might not have meant to write these characters as not straight but she did. be mad about it jkr). Only the character who had one queer romance which was extremely destructive and then swore himself to a life of celibacy where he spends all his time manipulated children is allowed to be gay apparently. smh.

And yeah. As for Dumbledore coming across kinda creepy, I definitely think it wasn't JKR's intention but it is a very valid reading based on what she wrote. I mean Dumbledore literally is out there saying 'oh yeah one of the only reasons adults liked this 11 year old child was because he was hot' without any awareness of how incredibly messed up a thing that is to say.

Like if that's something he's comfortable admitting publicly what thoughts doesn't he admit to? This is just an incredibly bizarre thing to say and really says a lot about how he perceives the world.

Why does he assume that all adult teachers pay attention to how attractive the children they are responsible for are? Why does he assume that teachers' treatment of their UNDERAGE STUDENTS is affected by attractive they find each child? That is not how an adult should ever be relating to or thinking about a child.

And it's specifically attractiveness he highlights - not cuteness or charm or literally anything even slightly more appropriate to favor a child for (even though it would still be wrong to favor a student). No. It's the same way he talks about Tom later. He suggests that Tom used his looks in some sort of evil seductor routine to victimize Hepzibah Smith - even though what we actually see is HER creeping on Tom, so it comes across very much as a "he was asking for it" and "he was to blame because he was being a temptation simply by existing" type perspective which is absolutely repellent. And seemingly Dumbledore was thinking about Tom in that way right from the beginning.

In addition, I will say it's notable that in the Hepzibah Smith memory Dumbledore seems to sympathize with the person who is acting as a predator. (I mean she literally touches Tom without his consent and tries to hit on him multiple times while he tries to change the subject and seems super uncomfortable; she is the aggressor in that interaction).

It's also notable that Dumbledore seems to take Tom rejection of him at their first meeting very personally which is odd. Tom's reaction to Dumbledore is not that surprising but Albus seems to take great offense at the fact that Tom does not trust or look up to or like him and does not want to spend time with him or accept his friendship. It's a rather unusual way for an adult to react.

And more generally he doesn't treat children as children. He talks about child!Tom the same as he does adult!Tom and doesn't seem to view him as ever having been fundamentally different. He happily sends Harry and his friends into danger.

He also has a nasty habit of reading people's minds without their consent. I don't think it's a coincidence that nothing about the topic of Occlumency is taught at Hogwarts. It seems that he's been frequently reading the minds of the Golden Trio (and probably other students) for years - probably since book 1; and the mind is a very intimate and scared part of a person that shouldn't just be violated. Characters having a blank or closed look is often used as a descriptor to suggest that that character is employing Occlumency. We know Tom's mind powers were quite developed and I think he successfully blocked Dumbledore from his mind during their first encounter (after Dumbledore read his mind to find out about the things he stole) as right after that scene he is described in similar ways to scenes where characters use Occlumency. And this denial and rejection may been part of what particularly irritated Dumbledore.

His interactions with kids - and especially his fixation on Tom - are very weird. And you could definitely read it as him having some sort of repressed (or not repressed) attraction/fixation that he's probably in denial about (or does mental gymnastics to justify). 100 percent not JKR's intent. But yeah. The way she wrote him is kinda off.

first thing to note, a lot of my headcanons surrounding armand and his backstory have a lot to do with how i feel about ar's views on age, history, and consent.

the mistaken idea that people were older in history than they are now. this isn't going to be an analysis of ar's views or anything like that, but they do have a lot to do with how i interpret the text.

iMAGINE A HEADCANON POST WITH SO MANY FUCKING DISCLAIMERS —

my armand does not begin a romantic/sexual relationship with marius until he's an adult. is there still a power dynamic between them? absolutely. is it still wrong to groom someone to become a vampire and to eventually have a sexual relationship with your pupil? YES. absolutely 100% yes.

following the trauma at the brothel, armand spends a long time in recovery, there's no sexual relationships with anyone for years. i maintain a lot of tva, particularly regarding armand's relationships with his brothers, riccardo, and with bianca. and he puts marius on a pedestal that is easily taken advantage of.

i don't know how the show will portray things. i will say that i feel like there's a point to armand jumping from 15 to 20 in his storytelling. so, for my portrayal ( both show and amc verses ), armand begins any sexual relationships then and only then.

when it comes to the painters and the donations, also beginning at 20.

i do not want to dive into why i think this happened or how i think it did on my dash or, honestly, much in general. bc it's a triggering topic to me, it's triggering to others, and i don't think it's necessary for me to talk to in depth about it.

armand's feelings towards his maker are complex. they are conflicting. life in venice was one of the happiest times of his life, but it also included some of the worst.

About fandom smexuality, aging-up, age gaps vs CSEM

The thing I wish people could understand is the debate over whether or not loli/shota/cub/drawn 'artwork' is inherently cp is a different debate than the fandom questions of:

" Is making a child character into an adult for *reasons* akin to irl grooming? "

" Is making a childincanon-now-adult-character date an always-was-adultincanon-character akin to irl grooming? "

" Is making absolutely everything into a sexy pinuplegalage adult good for me? "

" Can you write about these topics at all? "

" What is someone's mental age vs physical age when it comes to fantasy fiction involving shit like gods, monsters, shapeshifting talking animals having smex? "

" Is it wrong to dismiss a character's age when they otherwise don't act or look the age they're supposed to be +are treated as sexualized adult in canon? " ((kinda specific; I'm mostly thinking of Ariel and Jasmine being canonically 16 and 14 for some reason.))

All these above debates are worth talking about. And by talking about, I do mean having discourse over because it's unavoidable. No one is going to agree 100%, I think that's just the nature of sexualizing things or maybe just fiction in general. Something that may be tame to you can be triggering/traumatizing for another person -especially if that person is a survivor of any kind of ab*se. You are not responsible for their well-being, B U T, you ARE responsible for yourself and not being a dick to survivors. I also think it's such a 'your millage may vary';'depending on the situation in canon v fanon'-shit going on.

f.e. shipping the themepark young man version of the Mad Hatter with the adult woman Alice that walk around Disneyland and are their own characters apart from their animated counterparts but clearly are still meant to illicit those versions-- I can be sus and grossed out and designate it as one of my own notps all I want, same with Lydiajuice and Fluttercord. I DO find these ships genuinely 'icky' to me because I can't get over the association w the animated versions. BUT- knowing the context of what people are into it and how, I'm not going to call that shit amoral. It's not. I'm just allowed to dislike it. Cope.

Ultimately people are right that it's sus how we keep making underage characters into smexy adults to appeal to adults with sexual and/or shipping tastes. Like 'can we seriously not comprehend characters in a non sexual (or in fandom, non shiptastic) context EVER about anything?' is a genuine debate worth having.

People are also right that susbehavior can be excused with legitimate circumstances; like how coming of age stories inherently mean minors discussing sexuality because teens are sexually imbalanced and sex interested. There's a LOT of talk to be had there and shade to be delivered.

As an asexual who's dabled in, and has friends, who make and sell adult art for adults, I just don't see this problem[i.e. aging up minor characters into adults] as an inherent red flag.

Many honest nonpredatory people have adultified versions of their childhood crushes. There is a porno version of Alice in Wonderland where Alice was a sexually adventurous twenty-something getting down with other adults in furrsuits and singing. No really. Me in my new fangled respect for the og novel can be all "GAWD why do we have to make this sexy?" all I want -AND YET-- I'm also glad they made the porno version of the story for adults ABOUT adults. I want to talk about why all the conflicts in rain wild chronicles ended in anticlimax - it was definitely on purpose and I actually really liked it! it brought up so many issues and they built up and up and then usually just ended offscreen and was brushed past. all of them!!! since there's a new audience i wanna make myself clear: i don't subscribe to fiction discourse terms like anti or proship, in large part bc they're kinda useless especially in terms of my politics and "affiliations" persay. with that said if you really want to classify me so bad then i guess some people would put me in the ~~proship~~ category (whether I like it or not). so to be clear:i believe that it's anyone's right to write, read, draw and even enjoy depictions of dark topics in fiction, whether it be to work through trauma or as a kink. i have my own boundaries on the subject but i fully object to any attempt to classify works depicting fictional characters as being responsible for incest, abuse or csa—these are systemic issues that would not disappear even if you managed to ban any depiction of them, and can only be resolved through systemic changes—such as youth liberation, and dismantling of structures that give individuals power over one another. i think calling incest and csa survivors (whether they're open about it or not) predators or evil/dangerous simply bc they have written a fic, or enjoy a ship, or even a book, is utterly callous and is at best people's attempt to make themselves feel more powerful by going after vulnerable people and claiming it's justice. i think random strangers attempting to police or discern how horny someone might have been writing/drawing that content is far more violating than whatever happens to the fictional characters they depict. as a matter of fact, i think one can depict these subject matters in a horny way and still have valuable things to say about it. i think that in a time where any sexual or queer content is being challenged as inherently damaging to youth, embracing the idea that writing or enjoying a fanfic or a book containing Bad Content makes you responsible for abuse and predation is insanely irresponsible. people are allowed their boundaries and comfort and to not engage with certain content, and even not want to engage with individuals into that content. however callouts or harassment is monstrous, particularly when aimed at people whose lives might depend on support from online friends or networks.

Disclaimer, this is the first long post I’ve done, so bear with me, I’m not great at concise thoughts. Also I’m sure this has been done before, but the hyperfixation is quite strong rn, might as well break it down with the information as of Frank Vs. Russia.

Gang gets racist: could just be to introduce the characters, but that is basically throwing new viewers in the deep end, and the gang haven’t been fully characterized yet. Introduction of queer Dennis though, which is shown in 16x04 (Queer Dennis Rules!) and the source of some presumable trauma for Dennis, the mental health of whom seems to be on display this season. And my beloved, the waitress.

Charlie got molested: Origin of fucking Uncle Jack, McPoyles and Charlie’s sisters. Enough said.

Mac Bangs Dennis’ Mom: Dennis “Mommy issues” Reynolds is all that really comes to mind, but perhaps the introduction of Bonnie and Mrs. Mac. Maybe Macden fistfight?

The gang exploits a miracle: Origin of Dennis’ ED and Cricket.

Gang gets held hostage: I know I said McPoyles for the first episode, but to be honest they weren’t to their true levels of insanity yet, and this one brings it full force. and obviously mac’s “i love you”

Nightman Cometh: Jack has been in s16 a LOT so far, and this would help to explain the abuse that occurred to Charlie beyond largely insensitive jokes. If I trusted rcg a bit more, I might say there will be more this season covering Charlie’s trauma, but most likely this episode was picked because it’s a classic that demonstrates the dynamics of the gang.

okay, so… thinking abt this further because i saw the most egregious examples of this today on youtube and the sheer disgust has just not left me quite yet.

i hate, hate, hate all the stupid little tiktok censorship words/phrases with a passion. like, they genuinely invoke some kind of rage in me if the context is serious enough. it really wouldn’t matter much if they were contained to that app (bc i simply don’t have it anymore), but w the way ts has spread… downright demonic.

and i know why it’s, like, a thing. because yadda yadda your videos get shadowbanned yadda yadda they get taken down. ok yeah. whatever. sucks for yall.

but if you’re gonna come onto another platform that doesn’t do all that mess and start throwing ts around there… you have zero business talking abt whatever it is you’re dancing around at all. none whatsoever.

like i literally do not care if that ‘affects your reach’ anywhere else. that doesn’t matter. it literally doesn’t. suck it up! because at the end of the day, that is absolutely not an excuse to come into, like, the comments section of a news report of a real life crime and say shit like ‘the victim was lured to her unaliving’ or ‘the unaliver’s father is a convicted grapist pdf file so(ffender) arrested for possession of corn-’ like it’s normal and a-okay and doesn’t absolutely make light of a real, horrific situation.

you can argue for intent all you want, or go with the ‘ohhh but it’ll get censored’ excuse, but there’s just no way that discussing the details of actual abuse/crimes with a vocabulary straight out of r/boneappletea to try and dance around the matter won’t come across as minimizing.
