Updated Masterlist of Writing and Art

About the writer/artist: I like to write and paint. My current obsession is Sandman, but I enjoy most fantasy fandoms as well as anime (I think I’m on season seven billion of One Piece right now 🤣). I'm also weird as they come (and awkward, too), so just please ignore my oddball (coughTERRIBLEcough) sense of humor.

On a more personal note, I have PTSD and suffer from severe manic depressive episodes. Writing and art are my most familiar coping mechanisms, and I need them like I need oxygen. Seriously, there were times in my life that knowing I had to finish a story or a piece of art was the only thing stopping me from ending up dead. So, I don't take part in fandom drama. Having my peace and protecting my mental health are very big deals to me, and I won't risk those for anything if I can help it.

As for my writing, it ranges from short one-shots to ridiculously long novel series. I use third person POV (on longer series) as well as second person (on shorter things). I also try to always exclude physical descriptions when writing main character OCs and assign them nicknames to avoid using Y/N. I love to read Y/N fics, but writing them makes me feel like I'm at work. And who actually wants to ever feel like they're at work when they're engaging in a hobby? Definitely not me.

Lastly, there's usually more stuff on my AO3 page than I have listed here, because I forget to post it pretty often. Oops. I'll get around to moving it all over one day. Probably. Maybe.

Sandman 'Verse

After banishing his lover from the Dreaming for her betrayal, Morpheus learns that she is pregnant with his child.

Sometimes He's Sweet

Morpheus hates the holidays.

As excited as she seems to experience the mortal holiday, he's… less so. Much less so. With the entire collective unconscious contained within him, this time of year can be wholly overwhelming, a miasma of too much red and green, too much worry, too much loneliness, too much excitement, too many similarly themed dreams, too many similarly themed nightmares, and far far too many holiday songs. It all bleeds out from the collective unconscious into his own mind, sticks there like weeping sap to a tree until he feels half-mad with the unrelenting presence of it, with his inability to get free from its cloying trespass upon his very being.

This is just a little sweet fluff for the holiday season. It takes place between chapters 19 and 20 of "All the Precious and Fragile Things". No spoilers here if you've read that far!

That Familiar Feeling of Family (or how Hob Gadling ended up as an uncle to his stranger's oftentimes feral children)

It's a pretty universally known thing that families are just strange. As Hob is quickly figuring out, however, this little fact is magnified by AT LEAST a billion when the family in question is Endless.

(A lighthearted story in which Hob Gadling finds out his stranger has married, makes friends with a homicidal maniac/ruler, and manages to become an exemplary uncle to a pack of magically mischievous children. Really, now all he has to do is convince everyone to stop calling his and Dream's weekly meetups "playdates", and then his life would be practically perfect.)

And as for May, she's really just got a job to do. And her own traumatic issues to deal with. And if it's all hella awkward because she's having to work alongside her husband's ex-wife, she'll see it done anyway. There's even the small possibility that she might eventually admit to Calliope the truth about her identity. That is if she can ever actually work up the courage to say it aloud.

So..... re: fic writers writing Mayuri like some sexless, detached weirdo..... this is gonna be very long and rambling and the Mayuri part will be at the end. I took my Adderall today and my brain is moving a mile a minute thinking about this, buckle up. The entirety of this post is a spoiler.

I'm powerwatching the entirety of the original Bleach series. I'm currently watching the fights between the Captains and Espada. I've been watching 8-10 episodes a day for the last 23 days so everything that's happened thus far is fresh in my mind. This is also one of my absolute favorite parts in the entire series. These opinions are subject to change, especially since I haven't finished watching the series yet. Please feel free to offer a different point of view.

ANYWAY! The Espada that the captains fight are mirrors of themselves in their personalities, their powers, and even somewhat in their aesthetics. The only difference is, said Espada have not learned a very important lesson that said captains HAVE learned.

Kenpachi and Nnoitra are both huge, (literally huge, kenpachi is 6'7" and Nnoitra is 7') cocky brutes who live to fight. They've both got that muscled but incredibly lean body type. (Yes Kenpachi too. He's less than 200lbs despite being almost 7 feet tall.) And of course the long hair, eyepatch, exposed chest, and huge toothy smile. Kenpachi has learned that it doesn't matter what package his opponents skills come in. Man, woman, soul reaper, arrancar, it doesn't matter. He's learned to respect his opponents, and he doesn't let his desire to be the strongest cloud his judgment during battle. He knows that there are people out there who are stronger than him, that there probably always WILL be, and he's accepted it. He knows that he will probably die at the hands of somebody stronger than him someday. He even verbally acknowledges that he may die in this battle. Nnoitra, on the other hand, refuses to accept a woman being stronger than he is. He refuses to really believe ANYBODY could be stronger. He seems to have somewhat of an inferiority complex despite this. Not only does he desire to be the strongest, he's desperate to be the strongest. He's so desperate that he lets his anger cloud his judgment in his fight with Kenpachi. He's not looking for Kenpachis weaknesses, he's just relying on his brute strength and his hierro to get him through the battle. He arrogantly believes that every hit he gets on Kenpachi is one hit away from the finishing blow, even going so far as to turn his back on him when he goes down briefly. Kenpachi, on the other hand, pays careful attention to Nnoitra's skills and continues to adapt during their battle, even using a technique he says he hates. In his arrogance and desperation he ignores Kenpachi's mercy, instead choosing to fight to the death. Arrogance and disregard/underestimation of the enemy will be a theme here.

Byakuya and Zommari are the most different aesthetically. Their personalities are very similar though. They're both very stoic in an arrogant way. Zommari calls Byakuya arrogant several times, and says it disgusts him. He hasn't realized that he's the one who is truly arrogant. Byakuya comes off that way, but its because he knows how strong he is. Byakuya also knows full well that he comes off as arrogant. Zommari doesn't seem to. Zommari's arrogance is what ultimately does him in. During their entire fight Byakuya is analyzing Zommari's power and skill. Zommari fails to do this, his confidence in his own powers clouds his judgement. This brings in another similarity between them. Zommari says at the beginning of the fight that his powers may seem like magic to an outsider. Byakuya, towards the end of the fight, says that he guessed correctly that Zommari's powers are similar to Kido. Kido would probably seem like magic to an outsider and Byakuya is incredibly skilled in kido. Their special flash step skills are similar as well, being so fast that they leave an after image. At the end of the fight Zommari asks Byakuya if he's ever stopped to consider what he's doing, if he's ever thought about the meaning of killing hollows as if it's a natural thing to do, why he thinks he can kill hollows, if soul reapers think they're God's, who gave them the authority to kill hollows, who gave them the authority to protect humans, tells him that nobody has given him those rights and calls him arrogant once again. This further proves that the only person he thinks about is himself. He can only think about himself and his own beliefs to the point that he doesn't even bother to think about his opponents skills in battle. Not to mention that the Gotei 13 was formed to help keep the balance of the world, and killing hollows is part of that. Byakuya tells Zommari that he's not killing him because he's a hollow, he's killing him because he aimed his blade at his only pride and our view switches from him to Rukia. Byakuya has learned how to think about other people and step outside of his beliefs when it's necessary.

Now to the part that sparked this whole essay. Mayuri's and Szayelaporro's aesthetics both incorporate Aposematism, though Szayelaporro really only exhibits that aesthetic in his released form. They've both got the mad scientist thing going on. They're both very cocky. They're both very brilliant. They both largely view other people as subjects to be experimented on. They're both very theatrical. Now, Szayelaporro is definitely more outwardly sexual. He's got that sensual, hedonistic vibe going on. His Zanpakuto shows this as well. The name in the Japanese version being Fornicarás (You Will Fornicate) and in the English version being La Lujuriosa (The Lustful, or One Who Shows Lustfulness). Mayuri isn't anywhere near as outwardly lewd as Szayelaporro. He's much more subtle. Have you noticed the placement of his sword? He wears it between his legs so that it appears phallic. Like a codpiece. This placement doesn't contribute to the intimidation factor of the rest of his get-up, so why do it? Because he's a fucking pervert, that's why. He thinks it's funny. Plus the..... whatever the fuck it is that he does to Nemu to revive her after the fight. Theres also the image we get of him in the 10th opening where he's sitting, legs splayed and holding the hilt of his sword as though it was his dick, and we're looking up at him as though we're about to give him a blow job. And Nemu's outfit? Her body type? Nobody seems to take these things into account. Mayuri created and dressed her that way on purpose. As far as Szayelaporro being a reflection of Mayuri, I suppose the argument could be made that his outward sexuality is part of the reflection that is the bad part of Mayuri. Something Mayuri has overcome that Szayelaporro has not. But I don't think that's the case. It's not touched on at all during the fight. Plus, like I said, whatever weird thing he did AFTER the fight to revive Nemu sounded like he was molesting her. It wouldn't have happened that way if he didn't WANT it to happen that way. He denies it being NSFW, but it's obvious hes being sarcastic for the sake of things being tv friendly. No, Mayuri makes it quite clear what hurdle he has overcome that Szayelaporro has not. The pursuit of perfection.

It's also clear that his downfall was believing he was already perfect, when no such thing exists. His belief in that also making him believe he couldn't be defeated. Unlike Zommari, Szayelaporro does take his opponents skills into consideration. He's got contingencies like Mayuri does. His failing was not having a backup plan for his backup plan because he thinks his Gabriel is enough to save him. Mayuri comes essentially armed to the teeth with contingencies. We've seen his regenerative abilities, his plan z slime get away, Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo's self destruct mechanism, and the way he talks about drugging Nemu's body tells us he's taken into consideration every possible way she could have been attacked or used against him. Szayelaporro had become so self obsessed that he didn't think he needed such things. In thinking he'd reached perfection he didn't think he'd be affected by such things. That was his downfall.

Anyway. All this to say, please for the love of God stop writing Mayuri like he'd be some purely clinical, sterile scientist in bed. Stop writing him like he'd be uninterested in physically participating in his partners pleasure. Stop writing him like he'd be the kind of person who sees no point in sexual urges or sexual pleasure, or like he'd get rid of his own ability to feel those things. He's very obviously a huge pervert and if you think he doesn't have a room full of things he invented for bedroom activities you're so incredibly wrong. We are shown how much of a pervert he is through his own actions, as well as through his reflection in Szayelaporro. Do the man justice, god damn it.

Pause for Station Identification

In light of our first story, "A Tale of Woe", now being 25 episodes, the following is a summary of what the characters have been up to until now. These were originally written for the other platform. Technically this is spoilers, but not much has actually happened that could get spoiled.

Claire

She is 23 years old and worked a low level office job (possibly a receptionist or a Human Resources functionary) until all her recent troubles began. She currently is involuntarily held in a secure mental health facility, possibly by mistake. She is quiet, shy, and nervous about anyone including doctors invading her privacy and her body. Her exact reasons for being there are unknown but we do know her psychiatrist has prescribed a deliberate program of ensuring that medical personnel invade the privacy of Claire’s body quite frequently. She is given daily rectal temperatures and her psych medications are administered as suppositories rather than pills. There is no medical reason for doing this, it is being done purely for the psychological effect. She also receives complete weekly physical examinations and enemas as needed for constipation, which she frequently suffers from. Claire is humiliated by these treatments.

Unlike most patients, Claire does not have "panty privileges". The fact that the hospital even has a name for this concept, shows what kind of a place it is. Claire must always wear hospital gowns - never her own clothes, not even pajamas, with nothing at all on under it. Most patients are allowed to wear pajamas and bathrobes, this is a form of "therapy" reserved for certain special patients.

Please keep poor Claire in your thoughts and prayers.

Mystique

This one calls herself "Myst", short for "Mystique", as in the X-Men character. Her legal name is Misty. She is Claire's only friend in the mental hospital, and is around the same age. We also do not know the exact circumstances of her arrival, but before being sent here she was a PhD student studying psychology. Left to her own devices she dresses in a punk-goth-alternative style and presents an image of toughness. In the hospital, her wardrobe is considerably more limited though she still is allowed to use her own cosmetics products. When she first arrived, she was very ill behaved and often had to be restrained by the staff. She has somewhat calmed down, especially now that she has taken on a protective role with respect to poor Claire.

When she arrived she had a phobia of injections, and the staff often had to use force to get them into her. Of course, being the kind of place it is, the hospital gives all of her medications as injections, even those that are normally oral. She has since gotten used to it, but she still plays this up for the staff to keep them busy.

She has some experience in the kink world and this combined with her interest in psychology has her (with some justification) convinced that almost everything the hospital does to her and the other patients is just the sexual sadism of the doctors running unchecked. She is, however, not above engaging in secretive bdsm play (in both top and bottom roles) with the staff in exchange for favors and special treatment, though the amount of leverage she actually gained this way is pretty small. Most especially, she has not succeeded in using it to obtain release from the hospital.

Myst claims to be from a "rich" family, though she appears to be estranged from them. In spite of this, she occasionally speaks in some unidentified blue collar American dialect. We can only assume this is a deliberate affectation by her.

Claire's Doctor

This doctor’s name is being withheld to avoid offending any real doctors of the same name. There are many doctors involved in the hospital where Claire and Mystique are imprisoned, but he is the one most directly in charge of their treatment. He is an arrogant and cruel man who takes advantage of the power he holds over his patients, in particular the young, attractive, female patients. He is currently in a highly unethical, illegal, and coercive “relationship” with Mystique that she clearly regards as transactional. It’s unclear what benefits she receives from it, personally, though she has been seen to use whatever limited influence it affords her to slightly lower Claire’s sufferings. The doctor strongly desires to have the same sort of relationship with Claire, who refuses to speak to him at all. Claire is quite scared of him, while Mystique regards him more with disdain and contempt than fear. He is prone to fits of tyrannical rage over Claire’s refusals. In spite of his ridiculous nature, he remains a serious problem for his patients as he seemingly has arbitrary power to prescribe unhelpful and unnecessary and possibly harmful “therapies” such as restricting Claire’s diet in a manner designed to promote constipation (to provide a pretext for frequent enemas). The other doctors, nurses, and assorted hospital employees are either too checked out to notice his antics, or participate in them with varying degrees of pleasure, indicative of a mostly corrupt institution of which this individual is only one part.

Liz

Liz is in her mid 30s, works as a software engineer, and is Claire’s older (half) sister. With Claire’s parents both deceased, Liz serves as the next of kin with respect Claire’s hospitalization. Liz is blissfully unaware of what kind of a place her sister is really being held in, sincerely believing that Claire is receiving competent care for serious mental health issues. When she visits Claire in the hospital, the staff put on a sort of Potemkin village of a clean, orderly environment to fool the public and patients’ families. The hospital has obvious motivation to keep this delusion going, but Claire is also afraid to tell her anything, sure that no one would believe the things that happen in here. Liz is a sci fi and fantasy reader. She is somewhat clumsy but likes to exercise a lot, resulting in occasional injuries requiring casts and/or crutches, as seen in this file photo.

Mary

Mary is Claire's ancestor who was born in 1875 and may have been imprisoned in the same hospital for a period in the 1890s. We don't know much about her. She is seen in flashbacks and dreams that Claire experiences, in which she temporarily shifts into Mary's time. Claire firmly believes these experiences to be real, and is convinced that learning more about Mary will help her to leave the hospital.

Julie and Mike

Seen in flashbacks, Julie was Claire's mother who died when Claire was 8 years old, along with Claire's father, Mike. Julie was an avid cosplayer and video gamer in the mid 1990's. In 1998 she married the significantly older man Mike, thus becoming Liz's stepmother. Based on some of her costume choices we assume that she named her daughter Claire after the Resident Evil series character.

Biscuit Junior

He is a beagle that belongs to Liz, Claire, or both. He is allowed to visit in the hospital.

Susan and Becky

Myst has these two sisters, twins, that may be about 29 years old. They have done nothing in this story so far, this is just to remind you of their existence in case they show up. They are seen here in file photos of their own medical exams. Don't ask how we got them.

Myst does not seem to get along with her family, as evidenced by the fact that none of them have attempted to visit her in the hospital during the time of the story. She has mentioned her parents not believing her when she tried to tell them about the abuse she experiences. The twins may share this delusion, or they may not have even been told about it.

Background

Kelsey has mentioned their caretaker, Titi, and alluded to the fact that it was Titi who taught them to wield time magic.

Kelsey insists that time is not a line or a stream, but a Design.

Whenever rabbits are mentioned, Kelsey behaves as if there is something dangerous about the creatures.

Lil K, the youngest, is friendly and outgoing though shy in large groups. She likes to color in crayon, although all of her drawings are incoherent scribbles.

Junior Kels is assertive, loud, and usually rude. Swears quite a bit. Mean to the people they like. And the people they don't like. And pretty much everyone.

Senior Kels is quiet, often passive -aggressive, and dislikes bullshit. When confronted with younger individuals, however, they can be gentle. They are especially cautious around those suffering from anxiety or panic attacks.

Silver Kelsey typically doesn't interact online except to share the Rules of Time. They're busy hunting Rabbits and looking for something.

Psi Kel is confident, and speaks vaguely when talking about future events that they seem to have some knowledge of. They main Boo in Mario Kart.

When two Kelseys meet, it has been stated that they have a rule that makes one of the Kelseys either leave or give up memory of the encounter. It is implied that the one who must leave or give their memory is the younger one. Junior does not like this rule.

The Kelseys are not fond of other time travelers, especially Darryl. Anyone who has messed with time is also an object of annoyance. Glenn is on thin ice, and Mr. Moustache / Scam Likely is also currently on the bad side of the Kelseys.

Dennis Anderson / Mark Likely ( @dilf-dennis ) has repeatedly mentioned that he and Kelsey are friends, but at any mention of it Psi is quick to deny friendship between them.

Kelsey keeps a notepad with them at all times.

Kelsey has always returned all of their books to the Library.

If you could either be in the DC universe or the Percy Jackson universe, which would you chose and why? If Percy Jackson, who is your godly parent? Or if DC, what are your powers and who is your mentor?

I'd personally chose Percy Jackson because hyper fixations galore! I'm also a child of Hermes, so, YES!

But seriously: I think I’d also choose Percy Jackson—yes, there’s a lot of death and violence but in either universe, I would have to fight someone so I don’t think it’s fair to compare them tbh :3

I chose PJO because at the end of the day, it would be so cool to live in a world where gods and myths were real. Of course, ignoring all the child murder and general angst

I’m taking a women and gender studies class rn in college and currently the unit is talking about the Sumerian and Egyptian goddesses Inanna and Isis (currently writing a comparative essay on them). I cannot express how amazed I am looking at the different ways people try to explain how the world works and celebrating life and death,, It’s just super cool!!

(Side note: I don’t know if anyone’s read The Wicked + The Divine but I can’t stop thinking about that when I hear about Inanna, that comic series has ruined my life)

Anyway, as for godly parent, it’s probably Hades, not just because I like myths about the Underworld (though that’s a big part of it) but also because from the official website quiz, I am in Cabin 13☺️

What's your favorite fanfiction you are currently writing?

Mine is Quest Parenthood: Challenge Accepted or Fall From Grace. Both are PJO AUs I am hoping to post over on Wattpad and AO3 soon. Do you want a dedication?

Right now, I think it’d be my Shadowhunters fic “The Moon” which I actually getting a chapter tomorrow for the first time in a month :’)

I watched the show over my senior spring break and I think it came at a perfect time because I was having anxieties about leaving high school and moving onto college so the show has become very special to me (currently reading the book series now) so I really like going back through the episodes (after I binged it in three days😭) and writing them out with some OCs :)

Anyway, enough of me rambling on. Yes! I’d love a dedication ^^

Despite the fact that you could move around somewhat on your own, Lucifer still insisted that you spend a bulk of your time in his room. You weren’t particularly mad about this, as the only other space in the house you had been conscious in resulted in your spiraling into a panic attack after being flooded with the traumatic memories associated with it. Despite the fact that the pap-smear procedure occurred in Lucifer’s bedroom, you still found yourself feeling safer in that space than in any other area in the house.

The next few days are filled with time spent unpacking your belongings and getting settled into Lucifer’s room. It’s a bit awkward trying to adjust the space to fit both of your tastes, but overall the process is cathartic for both of you. Going through the bittersweet memories of your past has been healing to say the least, and you find the hopelessness that had plagued you before start to recede into the background of your brain.

“Lu?” You called to him from the bathroom where you were currently bent over a box. You were searching for your favorite lotion, soap, and perfume that Asmo had introduced you to, and it hadn’t been in any of the other boxes. While you loved the scent of Lucifer enveloping your whole body, you missed the way the light floral aura of your own scent radiated from your body.

“Yes, love?” he called back, approaching the bathroom door with small snow globe in his palm. You recognized it as the one he had gotten for you from the winter festival at RAD just a few months ago. He had been sitting on his bed toying with it, finding peace in the two small silhouettes that danced in the center of the trees as the fake snow fell delicately around them. Though he had bought it for you, it seemed to be something he had also bought for himself.

“I can’t find my Jasmine scented body-care set.” you murmured in annoyance, not even looking at him as he entered the bathroom. You mindlessly tossed some items to the floor to clear your view of the items underneath. “I’ve dug through every damn box labeled ‘personal care’!”

Lucifer watched as you aggressively dug through the box with an eyebrow raised. He figured Mammon probably missed the things in your bathroom when getting your belongings together a few days prior. When he had asked the 2nd oldest if he remembered to gather those items, his face dropped and a deep red blush sprawled across his cheeks. He had spent so much time enthralled by your belongings that he had completely forgotten to gather those items.

“Mc, it was probably just left in your bathroom.” He chuckled, watching the frustrated look soften from your features. He approached you and rubbed both your biceps gently, as if to reassure you things would be okay despite the low-stakes of the situation. “I’ll go retrieve them. There’s no need to panic.”

You flush, realizing you had maybe been a bit too flustered with the fact that the items were missing. Lucifer chuckled once more, placing a gentle kiss on your forehead. He was pleased that you were slowly able to display more emotions- as the only things that seemed to plague you before were sadness and fear, with the occasional genuine smile or laugh that peaked from underneath.

Lucifer shook the snow globe and set it delicately in your palm. You watched the white speckles swirl around in the water before delicately falling back to the bottom of the globe. You looked up at him and smiled, clutching the snow globe to your chest.

He smiled before turning toward the door in a love-struck daze. He almost felt as if he were floating, his thoughts dancing around how sweet your smile was to him. He was once again back in a state of intoxication by your every action- similar to when he had lost his memory all of those months ago. He knew that, in reality, you were still severely traumatized by your experiences...But for now, he relished in the way his heart nearly stopped when your lips curved into that adoring expression he loved so dearly.

Before he knew it, Lucifer was in front of your door. He paused in front of it, feeling an odd sense of dread wash over him as his focus snapped back to the task at hand. He had not yet been into your room since that night 3 weeks prior. Unease steadily raised in his chest, though he tried to shake the feeling off.

There’s nothing to be anxious about, Lucifer tried to reassure himself. She’s safe, and that vile beast is dead. It’s just an empty room. He took a deep breath as he turned the handle; he was almost surprised when it gave way and opened without resistance.

Lucifer stepped into your room, but his movements were soon halted by his mind flashing the image of your bleeding and violated form on the floor in front of him.

No. He shook his head aggressively, trying to rid the image from his brain. No, no, NO!

Despite his protests, the images continued to slowly worm their way through Lucifer’s thoughts, followed quickly by the disturbing sounds of your retching and screaming accompanied them. It had been so long since he had experienced such vivid flashbacks to the night of the assault- and he couldn’t explain why they were coming back now. Surely it wasn’t just from the mundane act of entering your room...right?

Suddenly, the images began flashing more rapidly, and were distorted by intrusive thoughts of how specifically the demon had violated you. He gripped his head and dug his nails into the skin of his temple, trying desperately to distract his mind with pain- but to no avail. He watched the images move in horror, seeing the demon repeatedly squeeze the air out of your throat, bite the areas around your areola, and thrust into you relentlessly.

Lucifer doubled over as his stomach lurched at the disgusting visuals assaulting his mind. Breathless pleads for the thoughts to stop came through his rapid gasps for air, and his heart felt as if it was going to burst from his chest with how rapid the pace was. A mixture of tears and droplets of blood streamed down his cheeks as he desperately tried to escape his own mind.

“How is she?” Solomon pleaded with Simeon to give him an update on your condition. He had barely seen you since the procedure, purposefully holding himself back from seeing you for fear of how you would react. Though there was a longing within him to see you- to see for himself that you were doing as okay as Simeon continued to reassure him that you were. He was desperate for your forgiveness for what he had put you through, and he would sooner kiss the ground you walked on if not for the fear you would disconnect from him completely at the mere sight of him.

“She’s doing alright. Oh, her and Lucifer are moving in together now.” Simeon smiled, but he felt twinges of sorrow build at the acknowledgement that your bond with Lucifer had only grown through the trauma you experienced. He spent countless nights lying awake, praying that one of these days you’d wake up and choose him instead- despite the fact that he knew it was all a pipe dream.

“Uh- don’t they already live together?” Solomon raised an eyebrow, confused at Simeon’s statement.

“I meant that they’re sharing the same room now.” Simeon rubbed the back of his neck, cursing Solomon for being so dense as to have him explain it more specifically.

“Really?!” Luke chirped from the kitchen, skipping gleefully into the living room with a tray of freshly decorated cupcakes. Each were painted in dark blue frosting with delicate white and gold stars star-shaped sprinkles topping each in a perfectly even distribution. “We should do something to celebrate!”

Without thinking, Simeon shot Luke a dark glare. Luke immediately tensed, never before getting such an irritated look from his friend. Once he realized what he was doing, Simeon shook his head and turned away from Luke, a soft shame-filled blush painting his sharp cheek bones.

“I’m not sure if now is the best time for that,” Solomon interjected, attempting to ease the tension that was now uncomfortably heavy in the air. “We should give them time to adjust-”

“Well who knows how long that will take?” Luke crossed his arms, pouting at the sorcerer. “Besides, I want to go see Mc! I haven’t seen her in weeks- other than at the dinner Diavolo invited us too, but I didn’t even really get a chance to talk to her there!”

Solomon and Simeon shared a look of uncertainty. Neither had told the small Cherub of what had happened to you- knowing he would not be able to handle the information- or even really comprehend what it meant. And he surely wouldn’t be able to comprehend you needing space as part of your healing, as he would cling to your hips every time you appeared to be in any danger.

“Luke...” Simeon gave him a gentle smile as he tried to think of a reasonable lie as to why he couldn’t go see you. “Mc has been...very preoccupied in her work lately-”

“Ugh.” He huffed. “I knew that she would start to adopt Lucifer’s personality when they started going steady.”

Solomon smirked at the oddly outdated terminology he used to describe your relationship. “True- but you have to admit, Lucifer gaining more of a softer edge as a result has been quite refreshing.”

Luke giggled. “He’s almost like a Rottweiler. All snarls and growls until Mc pets him on the head- then hes begging for tummy rubs.”

All three of them shared a laugh at the comparison, finding humor in how Luke could turn the tables of Lucifer comparing him to a Chihuahua on its head.

As their giggles ceased, Simeon felt the coldness of envy return to his heart. It was true- you had brought out something in Lucifer he had never before witnessed- not even in the Celestial realm. And he hated seeing it. He loathed that he felt this way, but he longed for the days when you had first arrived in Devildom and Lucifer treated you with the same coldness he displayed toward every human. If only he could turn back time...He would surely make you fall for him instead.

“Simeon?” Solomon questioned, cocking his head at the Angel. He now wore a distasteful scowl, when moments before he was laughing giddily like a child.

“Huh? Oh. Uh-” He stammered, quickly hiding his emotions the thoughts of your relationship caused him.

“Are you okay?” Luke questioned, feeling unease at the rapid changing in Simeon’s emotions.

“Ah- I have been feeling a bit under the weather lately.” He gave a fake smile, trying as hard as he could to make it convincing. “My apologies.”

Luke nodded once, before setting two cupcakes in front of the pair. “Well, I’m going to ask Mc if we can plan a visit soon-” He smiled, his back straightening in pride at his creation. “-which means I have to make some more of these!”

Simeon smiled at the innocence of the Cherub as he gleefully skipped back to the kitchen. Oh, if only he knew the horrors that you experienced.

But he couldn’t know.

Simeon sighed and exchanged another concerned look with Solomon, the silence between them growing heavy in the guilt they had for lying to Luke about your current state. But maintaining his child-like innocence was more important than the truth- at least in their eyes.

"Agh! Dammit Beel!” Satan yelled, slamming the fridge shut and whipping around to confront the two youngest brothers sitting around the kitchen island in one intense movement. “Those blackened-rose-and-lemon squares were for Mc! It took me hours to make them right!”

Beelzebub flushed and dropped his gaze to the floor, avoiding Satan’s intense eyes. “I’m sorry. I...I didn’t know they were for her.”

Satan sighed, his fury fizzling out somewhat after seeing Beel’s dejected expression. “Well...I suppose it’s alright. But you need to help me make more. Can you and Belphie prep the ingredients we have? I need to get more blackened Rose seeds and lemon essence.”

Beel nodded eagerly, the guilt he felt at eating the delicious treats that had been meant for you fading slightly. He hadn’t meant to lose control when he was trying to find something to eat for lunch, but the lemon squares looked so delicious and practically begged for him to eat them. If he would have known they were for you, he would have held back- or at least, that’s what he told himself.

Satan pulled out the recipe book from the cabinet and opened to the proper recipe and turned it so it was facing Beel and Belphie. “We have everything here except the two I need to get. All I want you two to do for now is to get the ingredients out, soften the butter, and combine the dry ingredients. I should be back by the time the next steps are ready. It’s very important that the other steps be followed to the letter so absolutely DO NOT start the rest without me.”

Satan gave them both a warning glare before turning on his heel and rushing out of the kitchen. Belphie looked at Beel, giving him a smirk before resting his head on the table and closing his eyes.

Beel worked through the tasks assigned to him with ease, measuring everything as perfectly as he could before tossing them into the bowl. As he mixed them together, his mind wandered to how you used to bake with him all the time before your assault. A frown slowly made its way onto his face at the thought of “the incident” - which is what all the brothers had been referring to the attack as. He didn’t like the vagueness of that term- almost preferring they call it what it was so as not to diminish the horror of your experience.

Beel sighed and pushed the thoroughly mixed ingredients to the side. He rested his head in his palm as he traced shapes into the excess flour that collected on the table. Guilt began to fester in his chest once more as he thought about the comfort food Satan had made for you that he so recklessly engulfed.

Belphie peaked through one eye, noticing Beel’s somber change in demeanor. He slowly lifted his upper body and mirrored Beel’s position. “What’s wrong?”

Beel glanced at his twin briefly before dropping his gaze back to the table. “I was just thinking about Mc. I feel bad for what I did.”

Belphie sneered and shook his head. “Beel, she didn’t even know Satan made those for her. You don’t have to feel bad.”

He shrugged, flattening his hand to erase his drawings by replacing the flour in the indents he had carved out. After the table was again evenly spaced, he began tracing shapes once more. He knew Belphie was right, but he felt guilty for more than just eating the sweets. He felt guilty for holding you down while Solomon probed you, for agreeing to help in the procedure in the first place, for knowing information you hadn’t willingly given him about the assault, for not being there to save you...

“It’s more than that...isn’t it?” As if Belphie could read his mind, he confirmed the thoughts snaking their way through his head.

“I mean, yeah.” Beelzebub shrugged again. “I should have done something different. I could have saved her. I-”

Belphie sighed, interrupting his thoughts. “You know, if anyone should be feeling guilty, you’re the last person I’d say deserves it.”

Beel glanced up at him once more, curiosity evident in his expression. “What?”

"Well...” Belphie sucked in a breath, feeling his chest tighten as tears threatened to develop behind his eyes. “I think I’m the only in this house who deserves to feel bad. I mean...All of this could have been avoided if I would have just said something.”

“Belphie...” Beel reached out to him, shaking his head.

“No!” He snapped, jerking his body away from his twin. “I used to be friends with that fucker, remember? He talked about the ways he would abuse humans all the time and I said nothing. Even after Mc and I became friends- I still said n-nothing.”

Beel watched in despair as Belphie's tail burst from his back and his horns curled around his skull. He picked up the stool he was sitting on and threw it clear through the wall of the kitchen. His chest heaved, his emotions wild and uncontained- just as he had felt back when he still hated humans. But this time, rather than the rage he felt being directed toward someone else, it was directed at himself.

Beel stood and slowly approached his twin and wrapped him in a gentle embrace. His voice was soft and reassuring as he spoke, but continued to hold a somber tone. “It’s not your fault either, Belphie.”

Belphie felt his wrath die down slightly at his brother’s words. He hadn’t even realized how much contempt and guilt he had held inside until he witnessed Beel take the blame for your assault himself. He relaxed into Beel’s arms, unconsciously wrapping his tail around them both for added reassurance.

They remained embraced for a short moment, until Leviathan burst into the kitchen. His face was pale and bloodied from three deep gashes that spit the area of his right cheek. He stared intently at the twins, desperately trying to convey a message to them through his eyes.

“Levi?” Beel gasped, pulling away from Belphie and rushing to his side. “What happened?!”

Levi stuttered, unable to give them any concrete answer with his words. Beelzebub surveyed him closely, trying to see if there were any other injuries that would give them insight into his current state. He froze when spotted a few dark raven feathers nestled in the top of Levi’s dark purple hair.

Take Your Father to Work Day (S2, E4)

As many people have said: This is one of the STRONGEST Prodigal Son episodes to date. It was incredible. My time-stamped thoughts for this episode are below.

I reference Malcolm’s mental health and sexual violence in this one. So if that’s going to be a trigger for you, don’t keep reading.

SPOILERS AHEAD:

0:16 - OMG. Destiny’s Child. Whoever is in charge of the soundtrack for this show needs a raise. Or an award. It’s SOO GOOD.

0:18 - How great is this montage of Martin’s prison life too? I mean the insane mundanity of it combined with “Survivor” and Michael Sheen’s incredible acting is some perfect mix between hilarious, captivating, and just brilliant.

1:06 - I feel so bad for Mr.David. He has to deal with Martin’s theatrics every day. Poor guy looks done in this episode.

1:35 - CAN HECTOR BECOME A BIGGER CHARACTER?! PLEASE. He’s hilarious and I love him. “Bro. You got your ass jumped at Sunday School.”

2:09 - Wait. What? Jerry’s getting released?!? I mean, I understand that he’s no longer in need of psychiatric care......but he still killed someone. Shouldn’t he just be getting transferred to a different prison?

2:25 - Does Jerry have a death wish?!?! He’s talking about being released in a room full of jealous murderers. Everyone looks sooooo pissed at Jerry.

2:54 - Martin is such a liar. However - Michael Sheen’s performance is astoundingly good. Like he shines brighter than usual in this episode.

3:17 - Poor Malcolm. “What’s going on?” Poor boy looks terrified.

3:23 - I love everything about this scene. I love how freaked out Malcolm is. I love you extra Jessica is. BUT HANS. Holy shit. I want Hans in every episode. He’s crazy in a good way and such a beautiful comedic relief.

3:30 - OMG. “Skinny milennial” might be the best thing anyone has ever called Malcolm. Someone please tell JT and Dani - hell, even Gil. They would tease him forever and I want to see it.

3:45 - 1) Malcolm is a terrible liar. 2) Jessica knows he’s lying. 3) This story about the wine is interesting. I wonder when and how Malcolm first told Jessica the story. Was it the same night? AND HOW DID ENDICOTT’S BODY END UP IN ESTONIA?!? I WANT MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THAT NIGHT.

3:54 - “Ainsley and I came back from the hospital after Gil’s stabbing.”....we never saw Ainsley at the hospital. Was she there and left before Malcolm got there? Or is this a plot hole I need to ignore?

4:05 - The way that the flashbacks of Endicott’s murder is spliced into this scene with Malcolm’s cover story is so perfectly executed. It’s so captivating and so so well done.

4:14 - Malcolm’s eyes look quite manic during the retelling of this story. Poor guy is desperate to have everyone believe the story. Poor guy probably wants to convince himself that the story is true.

4:16 - Wait. What? Ainsley has always been clumsy? .....interesting. I’ve seen no evidence of it but I’ll believe it for the sake of the plot.

4:23 - “At least one of you has a soul.” Holy shit. hahaha Hans is brutal. I love him so much. I also love how this line makes me, as a viewer, think “does that mean the writers want me to think that Ainsley doesn’t have a soul?” ...or more likely that she doesn’t feel emotion (which can be interpreted as a lack of a soul). That she’s a psychopath like Martin?

4:27 - OMG. Jessica loves Hans. He speaks to her dramatic rich woman soul. So entertaining.

4:30 - Poor. Malcolm. This boy is always in some sort of emotional turmoil. For once I wish he was happy (but also I love the emotional whump so if that could continue that would be great).

4:44 - “It’s so much more than that.” *chef’s kiss* comedic genius. I would watch a whole episode of Mr.David making fun of Martin. But can we all just take a minute to appreciate that Martin doesn’t seem bothered at all that Mr.David is basically verbally telling him that he sucks? It’s almost like Martin thinks they’re friends?

4:50 - Martin is strangely chill talking to Mr.David in this scene. It’s a little off-putting. He almost seems normal. He’s not putting on his usual theatrics or ranting about doctor stuff. It makes you wonder how many different sides of Martin that Mr.David has witnessed.

5:01 - “Oh no. Not Jerry.” LMAO. HOLY SHIT. Michael Sheen needs an Emmy. His delivery of that line might be the funniest thing this show has ever given us. hahahahaha

5:29 - Damn. This is not Gil’s month. First Jessica dumps him. Then he has to deal with Martin Whitly in the flesh. That plus the on-going drama of worrying about Malcolm’s mental health and the stress of reintegrating into work after a STAB WOUND.

5:31 - Gil’s face. hahahahaha he’s like, “Kill me. This can’t be happening. I hate everything. I wish the ground would open up and swallow me whole.”

5:37 - “Yeah. Why’d you do it?” GIL. OMG. I’m so proud of Gil for dissing Martin to his face. BUT ALSO I worry that that’s going to give Martin more of a reason to hate Gil. I’m genuinely scared that the writers have Martin escaping as the pre-finale episode and Martin trying to kill Gil as the finale. Maybe Gil shows up trying to save Malcolm, AInsley, and Jessica (whom Martin is trying to abduct or hurt or something) idk I just feel like it’s going to be a likely subplot somewhere. I don’t want an attempt on Gil’s life to become a season finale tradition.

5:56 - Ew. “Gilly” That is a terrible nickname. I think I threw up a little.

6:00 - Damn. I love this scene. I could watch Martin and Gil pretending to be civil to each other for years. So entertaining.

6:29 - hahahahaha OMG. Gil’s reaction to Martin saying, “Thank you” PLUS Edrisa’s sudden excitement at realizing she’s 10 ft away from Malcolm’s Dad - a medical legend, is magical.

6:35 - Not gonna lie. When Edrisa said, “Ok. I’m gonna play it cool.” I had to pause my TV and walk away to calm down. I was experiencing a mixture of second hand embarrassment for Edrisa’s inevitable behaviour, excitement for what is to come, and fear that Martin would be a jerk to our precious Edrisa.

6:44 - Edrisa and Martin interacting was everything I’d hoped. It was strange, funny, sweet, and disturbing at the same time. The sweet, eccentric girl who attends cuddle parties is getting buddy-buddy with a literal serial killer. Hilarious. Even better is Gil’s background reactions as he desperately tries to keep Edrisa away from the psychopath. hahaha <3

7:12 - Gil is currently living in a nightmare. hahahahaha

7:47 - I love this. I love how Malcolm and Ainsley interact. Malcolm is such a good big brother. IDK something about these two adult siblings chilling on a couch and warning each other about Mom’s current rampage reminds me of myself and my younger brother. <3 Warms my cold dead heart. <3 PLUS has anyone else noticed that (as long as Ainsley isn’t hounding Malcolm about a story or airing out his mental health diagnoses like the bs from Q&A) Malcolm is extremely calm around Ainsley. Like maybe the calmest we’ve ever seen him?

8:20 - “Oh Ainsley, that’s a horrible idea.” This is adorable. Malcolm is totally acting like Ainsley’s surrogate dad. He’s trying so hard to protect her. <3

8:42 - There’s something about the way that Malcolm says, “Hey Gil” that makes my heart swell. Idk why. I just their father/son relationship. So much. And it makes me so happy to see Malcolm having semi-normal interactions with people in general.

8:48 - This. Is. The. Funniest. Episode. Of. Prodigal. Son. To. Date. Holy shit. The comical dread on Malcolm’s face. Martin’s glee on the phone. Gil’s general “done with life” body language. Ainsley’s utter joy at her luck. MALCOLM DRAINING THE ALKA-SELTZER. Ainsley saying “chug chug”. So perfect.

9:27 - Is it just me or has Jessica been showing way more concern for her children’s well-being this season? At first I thought it was because she was so happy with Gil....but that’s not a thing anymore (because Jessica is a MORON - seriously if this show gets cancelled before Gil and Jessica are living happily ever after I will riot) so now Idk.

10:02 - EDRISA WHY DID YOU NOT TELL GIL AND MALCOLM THAT THE SURGEON WAS ON THE PHONE?!? For a hot second, poor Malcolm looks like he thinks he’s hallucinating.

10:40 - Gil hanging up on Martin and then telling Edrisa that she needs to make new friends is everything. It’s vicious. Gil looks absolutely furious in this scene and I love it.

11:07 - Yo. Edrisa’s got some baggage. hahaha Malcolm looks soooo uncomfortable with her outburst.

11:18 - I would pay good money to watch Martin and Gil have a pissing match in front of Malcolm every episode. It’s amazing. They’re constantly trying to one-up each other. The tension is palatable. And someone Malcolm is the only one acting like a mature, working adult. Malcolm. My mentally unstable, skinny millennial.

11:34 - OH SHIT. Martin did not just bring Jessica into this. Oh SNAP. Does Martin know that Jessica dumped Gil?!?

11:56 - “I’m going to need a little more than that.” Damn. Malcolm looks pissed here. Pretty sure he hates that Martin just brought up Gil/Jessica. Malcolm’s bio-dad and real dad are fighting and it’s very clear that Malcolm is on Gil’s side.

12:17 - The look that Gil and Malcolm share here is perfect. I love it so much. You can see how annoyed they both are, how much they hate that they need Martin on this case, how much neither of them want Martin’s help. <3

12:23 - SOMEONE GIVE GIL A MEDAL. This man just grit his teeth, smiled, and let MARTIN WHITLY - the man who tried to KILL HIM work on his case. Why? Because Malcolm silently asked him to. Because Gil loves Malcolm and knows that it’s better for Martin to work with them officially than for Malcolm to work with Martin in secret. At least this way he can look out for Malcolm.

12:42 - “It’s taken Dr. Marsh years...” soooo was Dr. Marsh the name of the Asian doctor leading group therapy last season? Is this just a new actor, same character scenario? OR am I supposed to forget that Asian doctor existed last season?

13:04 - I can’t tell if Gil hates this whole “father-son in group therapy idea”. He looks kind of like he hates it (although he is looking at Martin in the shot). I’m inclined to think that Gil is worried. He doesn’t like how nice Martin is acting toward Malcolm. He doesn’t want Malcolm to get hurt again. BUT I also think there’s probably a part of Gil that thinks group therapy might be beneficial for Malcolm’s mental health? I mean it was only ever going to be terrible or amazing. Nothing in between.

13:12 - “They hate you don’t they?” GIL BRINGING THE FIRE. hahahaha angry Gil is really funny.

13:43 - OH HELL YES. More Hector. <3

13:46 - hahaha YES. Hector this is Malcolm - the son. You know, the one you had to role-play? hahaha I feel like Hector is a really cool dude (aside from the murder).

13:53 - Damn. Hector pays attention in group. He has a lot of info about Malcolm. I would’ve thought the other inmates would just tune Martin out when he starts his monologues.

13:59 - “He’s got a thing with hands?” hahahaha OMG. How did I never connect the hand thing. DOES Malcolm have a thing with hands? ....I kind of want that to be cannon?

14:00 - “You’re crazier than me.” Ouch. That must’ve hurt. Think about it - Malcolm is ridden with guilt about Endicott. He’s haunted by what he experienced as a kid and by what his father is. Malcolm believes he’s broken beyond repair. On some level Malcolm thinks he’s crazy. Now a literal killer just told him he’s crazy. That just affirms what Malcolm already believes about himself. :( PLUS right after Hector tells Malcolm that he’s crazy - the camera pans to Martin. MARTIN looks scared. Martin is losing control of the situation and he doesn’t like it. Martin knows on some level that he ruined Malcolm’s mental health. He almost looks a little guilty?

14:31 - FINALLY. We have a cannon occurrence of someone calling Malcolm “Mal” (or “Malc” if you’re going by HULU’s subtitles?). I hope the writers start having people call Malcolm by Mal/Malc more often.

14:35 - I can’t ignore it anymore. DID HECTOR HAVE THAT SCAR ON HIS FACE LAST SEASON?!? I DON’T REMEMBER IT.

14:38 - YES YES. Malcolm looks angry. I LOVE IT. Scream at him Malcolm! Give him hell!

15:03 - Yikes. Malcolm sounds like he’s about to cry here. :( My heart breaks for him. .....I wonder if this is the first time Martin has ever heard how much pain he caused Malcolm straight from Malcolm? Martin looks hella uncomfortable here.

15:25 - The inmates (literal murderers) empathizing with Malcolm is twisted, beautiful, and haunting. These guys understand how much it sucks to hang out with Martin. These guys can see the real pain in Malcolm’s expression. They know he isn’t lying. Part of me honestly wonders if one of them is going to try and hurt Martin for Malcolm. They looked pissed enough by the end of the conversation that I kind of believe they might.

16:00 - Malcolm is not acting here. For once he’s not projecting his problems onto potential suspects. He’s just venting to suspects. No pretence. I love it. BUT 100% of me wants to know where Gil is during this session. Is Gil listening? Is the session being recorded for evidence? There’s no way Gil (or Dani) wouldn’t confront Malcolm about this. Even if they just asked him if he’s okay.

16:10 - hahahaha look at Doctor Marsh. He’s like “ooookkkkkaaaayyyy. I’m a psychiatrist in a psychiatric facility for people who have committed violent crimes. BUT THIS IS THE NUTTIEST THING I’VE EVER SEEN.”

16:12 - Look at the way Martin narrows his eyes. He’s trying to figure out if Malcolm is acting. He’s finally realizing that Malcolm truly hates what Martin subjected him to as a child. I honestly think this interaction will cause Martin to shift his “become a murderer like me” agenda from Malcolm to Ainsley. He’s finally seen the depth of Malcolm’s hatred and pain and knows deep down that Malcolm will never turn into a serial killer. But there’s still hope for Ainsley. That’s not to say that Martin won’t stop gaslighting Malcolm - he totally will.

17:21 - I honestly thought Marsh was going to get shanked. For the gold card. No other reason.

18:07 - It’s not supposed to be funny but Burt freaking out and punching Marsh is HYSTERICAL. hahahahaha

18:10 - That guard who pushed Malcolm out of the room and into a safe area? He’s in my good books. Every time I watch him push Malcolm to safety I want to give him a hug. Just for doing his job. What the hell is wrong with me?!?

18:18 - UGH. I hate that creepy, satisfied look that Martin gives Malcolm. It’s the same look he gave baby Malcolm in the pilot. It’s the “we’re the same” look and it clearly bothers Malcolm. :(

18:26 - Oh look. 18 minutes into the episode and we finally have a Dani appearance!! annnnnnd no mention of JT. I mean, I get it. He’s on paternity leave. I’m happy for him. BUT TWO EPISODES WITHOUT A JT APPEARANCE IS TORTURE. At least give me a throw away line about how happy JT is or about the baby!?? Honestly - it’s my biggest gripe with this episode.

18:56 - soooo either Dr. Marsh is a terrible psychiatrist OR you can’t “cure” murderers.

19:08 - The NYPD knows that Martin cured Jerry?!? HOW? Did Mr. David get Martin to admit to shocking him? Did Mr. David tell the police?!? I don’t remember Martin telling Malcolm. I specifically remember Malcolm saying, “I don’t want to know”

20:02 - Damn. I want Ainsley to go dark so badly. I want to see how badly it would destroy Malcolm and Jessica. I am evil.

20:52 - Malcolm’s burgundy jacket is gorgeous. That is all.

21:10 - Malcolm knows that Martin wants to escape. This is good. I love this.

21:55 - THERE’S A WOMENS WARD?!? REVOLUTIONARY INFORMATION. I THOUGHT THEY HAD A SEPARATE HOSPITAL.

22:00 - Oh wow. Finally - a perk to gender inequality.

22:52 - This Brightwell scene is so cute. I love watching Malcolm be excited about solving the crime. I love watching Dani gently tease him about how weird he is. I love watching them subtly flirt. Is Malcolm ready for another relationship - hell no. Do I think Dani has forgiven him - not totally. If they got together now it would end badly. But I do want them to be endgame.

23:11 - Andre is really suspicious throughout this whole scene. I’m convinced that if Dani and Malcolm weren’t too busy flirting Andre would’ve become a suspect really fast.

23:15 - Why do people get released from psychiatric prisons?!? This is a genuine question. I would’ve thought that everyone in Claremont has committed some seriously heinous crimes and only a very small portion of them are actually sick. The rest of them just pleaded insanity and had good lawyers. But even if they are/were sick. I don’t think the types of mental illnesses that drive people to murder and/or rape is something that can be cured. Sooo why are they getting released? I guess I just wonder because there’s this guy that’s been in my local news on and off for like 10+ years. He’s molested/raped many young women between the ages of about 16-25. He’s been arrested and released multiple times. He keeps getting released to different major cities in my province (usually a city with a big University) and reoffends within 6 months of being released. Most recently he was arrested last month after being released in October 2020. Clearly he’s going to keep reoffending - so why does he keep getting released? I guess I just don’t understand what the criteria are that allow an inmate who has committed that sort of crime to be released. 24:15 - Look at how proud Malcolm is of his whole “lobster = murderer” profile. <3 So freaking precious. <3 and Dani looks so amused with him. <3

24:37 - Sooooo Mr. David isn’t listening to this conversation? He left the room?

24:40 - Jessica going to Martin for parenting help is terrifying. This is a woman in crisis.

25:20 - But Jessica was right to be paranoid in 97′. She wasn’t being cheated on romantically but her husband was murdering people.

25:24 - Martin is so selling his kids out here. He knows it. He doesn’t care. He’s having too much fun torturing Jessica. He’s rejoicing at the fact that he gets to play the “I turned the kids to the dark side” card.

26:40 - Poor Jessica. She looks suspicious and scared. Scared that she raised a killer even though she tried desperately to prevent that very behaviour.

26:56 - Damn. Martin is having a really good day. First he gets to annoy Gil Arroyo in the flesh. Then Edrisa talks medical with him. Then he gets to work with Malcolm. THEN his ex-wife calls him and he gets to toy with her mind. THEN his daughter, who has literally murdered someone comes to visit him. He is a proud Dad right here and he’s having an amazing day.

28:00 - Rhonda is terrifying. This girl has perfected the “I’m sweet and unthreatening” while lying and manipulating people. I swear she’s a teenage Queen B personality with a side of violence.

28:30 - I love how protective Malcolm is of Ainsley. Look how positively livid he is that Marin is talking to her. Malcolm is terrified that Martin is going to purposefully and successfully turn Ainsley into a serial killer. Malcolm doesn’t want to lose his sister. He doesn’t want Jessica to lose her ‘stable’ child.

29:09 - This scares me. This is the kind of Ainsley behaviour from last season that made me believe she is the Whitly child most like Martin. Her ruthlessness and lack of a conscience when it comes to looking for a news story is extremely upsetting.

30:11 - What the hell happened to Tevin? AND WATKINS?!? We got no closure on those guys. Are they dead? In prison? Is Tevin still in Claremont? Were they transferred to facilities outside of New York State?

30:28 - Malcolm yelling at Martin is perfect. *chef’s kiss* Finally this boy is being honest with his father and he isn’t holding back.

30:40 - Michael Sheen is an incredible actor. This is an Emmy worthy scene. By Sheen AND Payne.

30:48 - I love how you can see Mr. David just chilling. Sitting outside the door and staring across the hall during this scene. It’s just....can’t he hear the screaming?!? Is he just like, “I can’t take anymore of this today. Not my circus and not my monkeys.”

30:55 - Soooooo this is Martin showing his true colours. There’s definitely a part of Martin that hates Malcolm. I honestly wonder if that part of Martin actively tries/tried to emotionally torture Malcolm now and throughout his childhood.

31:00 - “And your mother. And you ruined HeR!!!”....does this mean Martin was trying to make Ainsley a serial killer? Maybe after the camping trip when he realized Malcolm was too “weak” to kill anyone? Is this Martin saying that Ainsley is ruined because she didn’t become a serial killer? Or that Ainsley is ruined because she killed Endicott?

31:05 - “But that’s not me.” hahaha OMG. Michael Sheen just flipped between two personalities like nobody’s business. Respect.

31:08 - Martin’s outburst hurt Malcolm. Badly. You can see it all over his face. Even now, when Malcolm is being strong and showing some backbone to Martin, Martin can wound Malcolm with a single phrase. :(

31:41 - soooo where has Gil been for the past 10 minutes of this episode?

32:02 - Sooooo did Andre kill Jerry for Rhonda? Or did he just know about the murder and keep quiet for Rhonda? Or is his oblivious to the fact that Rhonda killed Jerry? I’m honestly confused here.

32:20 - Holy shit. Rhonda is crazy. Andre is dead now. Right?

32:48 - Wait. Why did Andre have a gold card? Mr. David only has red. What kind of qualifications does a guard need to get a gold card vs blue, green, or red?!?!

32:55 - Claremont isn’t a punishment for Martin. Solitary is. Martin should live in solitary. He deserves to suffer for his crimes (and the ongoing torture of his son).

33:05 - How messed up is it that Mr. David’s job is to protect a serial killer? I don’t think I’m brave enough to do something like that. I also don’t know if I could do that for moral reasons.

33:14 - Damn. That elevator looks like it hasn’t been cleaned since it was installed. It’s sooo much nastier than the hallway outside of the elevator.

33:50 - Sooo does this mean Martin is eventually going to try and murder someone down here?

33:54 - HE CALLED FOR BACKUP <3 <3 <3 OUR BOY IS GROWING UP AND I’M SO PROUD. <3

35:40 - FINALLY SOME MALCOLM WHUMP. <3 THIS SEASON HAS BEEN LACKING IT.

36:00 - This is really interesting to me. I honestly wonder if Martin has some sort of split personality disorder (personality #1: murderous, selfish, psychopath; personality #2: loving, concerned father and lawful doctor). You can see how desperately he wants to escape. But also how much he loves his son. I honestly thought he was going to leave Malcolm to die.

36:06 - Ugh. Look at his whumped face. <3 <3 <3 ....one thing that I couldn’t stop thinking during all the tazing (which was amazing FYI, I’m not complaining) is this: in QxA (1x07) Mr. David says that he only has a single shot tazer. Why did Andre have a multi-shot tazer? Is this a gold card vs red card thing?

36:40 - WHY THE EFF DOES BACKUP NOT INCLUDE GIL?!?! I KNOW HE’S STILL IN THE BUILDING.

37:03 - MARTIN, IF YOU TOUCH A HAIR ON DANI’S HEAD I WILL PERSONALLY HUNT YOU DOWN AND KILL YOU MYSELF. He honestly looks like he wants to murder her.

37:50 - Martin’s speech is not going to help Malcolm’s mental state. At all.

38:31 - No. No. No. Martin you do NOT get to talk to Dani on a first name basis. Look at how much Dani hates it.

38:35 - I love how soft Malcolm looks as Martin lifts him up. Look at how Malcolm gently leans into the touch. It breaks my heart. After 20 years Malcolm is still comforted by physical contact with his father. :(

38:37 - “Put your hands on me again Dr. Whitly, and I’ll blow your head off.” OH HELL YES. Dani is my hero. Iconic. Also - anyone else notice that Dani is chewing gum in this scene (I don’t think she’s chewed gum on camera since the pilot?) it makes her look like so much more of a badass in this scene.

38:55 - Oh look. The rest of the backup finally showed up. Where were these assholes 5 minutes ago when DANI WAS ALONE? AND WHERE IS GIL?!?!

39:00 - Malcolm thanking Dani is so so precious. And the fact that he’s clearly struggling to breathe and stay conscious is giving me life. ALSO Dani saying, “YOU’re welcome.”?!? *chef’s kiss* :) :) <3

39:30 - So Malcolm definitely knows that Martin almost left him to die so that Martin could escape.

39:33 - ......Ainsley is currently living with Jessica. Why is Ainsley not at the family dinner? We literally see her in the house in like 30 seconds.

39:35 - Malcolm in a polo shirt. Malcolm in a polo shirt. Why is it so attractive?!? He looks like a baby cinnamon roll? <3

39:51 - WHO THE EFF LET AINSLEY INTO THE MURDER BASEMENT?!? WHY AM I EXPECTED TO BELIEVE THAT JESSICA DIDN’T RE-SEAL IT AFTER WATKINS?!?!

40:15 - Jessica desperately tearing apart the living room is heartbreaking. :(

40:29 - Question: Did Jessica send her staff home before she tore apart the living room? Because I can just imagine two of them staring into the living room from the hall like, “She’s finally snapped. Should we call someone?”

41:00 - Jessica is the queen of drama. HOLY SHIT. This reveal was so extra and so perfect.

41:13 - “I killed him.” “You’re lying.” I love this interaction between Jessica and Malcolm. Malcolm has spent his whole life trying to convince people that he’s not a murderer. To protect Ainsley, his baby sister, he will say the words “I killed him”. Even though that is literally killing a part of Malcolm. Jessica knows it. I love that Jessica can see that Malcolm is lying. She’s not trying to convince herself that he’s innocent. She literally just accused him of murder. She’s scared. Because Malcolm just admitted to killing someone - his biggest fear - and it was a lie.

41:35 - Watching Bellamy Young’s facial expression as Jessica realizes that Ainsley killed Endicott is a thing of beauty. This woman needs an Emmy too. HELL, CAN WE GIVE THIS WHOLE EPISODE AN EMMY?!?!

42:00 - Poor Jessica. The guilt she must feel. She’s always thought that Malcolm was the one at risk of being a murderer. He’s a boy (they’re statistically more prone to violence than girls), he was older than Ainsley, he remembers terrible things, Malcolm had continued exposure to Martin throughout his childhood (Ainsley didn’t - I think?). But the child she neglected, the child she thought was safe, the child she thought remained free of Martin’s evil killed someone. It’s a plot-twist that just ripped Jessica’s heart into a million pieces.

42:30 - Yep. I promise you Malcolm has been psychoanalyzing Ainsley’s past behaviours since the moment she killed Endicott. He’s found traits common to serial killers and he’s terrified that she’ll become one if she remembers what it felt like to kill Endicott. He’s probably kicking himself for not noticing sooner. He’s probably questioning his ability as a profiler and as a big brother. AND the fact that MALCOLM has to protect Jessica AND Ainsley is heartbreaking. It’s way too big a burden. No wonder Malcolm’s mental health is on a downward spiral.

42:33 - This is the moment Jessica begins grieving for Ainsley. The fear, disbelief, and horror on her face. It’s torture that I can only describe as someone telling a mother that her daughter is dead. Because Ainsley is dead. The person Jessica believed Ainsley was - that little girl is dead. Because Jess just found out the truth.

42:55 - Jessica is now terrified of her own daughter. That is maybe the most upsetting thing this show has given us.

43:00 - I saw an interesting theory about how Ainsley is regressing back to her childhood (crawling into bed with Mom, moving back in with Mom) and I must say - that would be a really interesting way for this story to go. Ainsley regressing to a child-like state as she is convicted of murder. As a result she ends up in the women’s ward of Claremont because she can plead insanity.

This episode was amazing. Seriously, one of the best Prodigal Son episodes to date. Definitely the best of season 2 so far. If you’ve read this far - thanks for hanging out.

So, I’ve been in the Thunderbirds fandom for officially a decade now, and my first fic series isn’t complete yet. Life gets in the way, as we all know, but unless I specifically have a note on any of my stories on FanFiction.net or Ao3 that say they are abandoned, I always intend to get my stories completed. At some point.

I hang out on Tumblr to vent, muse and interact, mostly about fandoms. These include Thunderbirds (all three iterations), BBC Merlin, Marvel MCU, Star Trek TOS/AOS and The Shadowhunter Chronicles. I do post stuff of my own, but recently it’s just been hop-on-tumblr-to-ignore-the-real-world shenanigans. *grins sheepishly*

It’s time.

Good morning everyone!

I’m writing this liveblog at 3 am- I know, I know, but I couldn’t sleep! Too many thoughts… head full……

Episode 8: Big Day Today. I can’t believe it’s here already. The big finale of season one! Lots of stuff to wrap up this episode, and some major things to be revealed…
